Had a breakfast here while on a 10 day motorcycle trip. Our waitress was friendly and fast. The food was standard American diner breakfast (meaning nothing stands out in my mind 4 days later -- but I enjoyed eating it.) My favorite part was watching a long empty table by the door slowly fill up with locals, then hearing fragments of their conversation about fishing in the Ten Sleep area. Put it all together and you have a great road trip breakfast!

Reminds me of gramma's house. Breakfast is the best, but enjoyed dinner there, too. What a cute little town, and Helen's fits in perfectly. If youre in Chadron and on Yelp, you're probably passing through. Clean, nice, safe and friendly. Eat here and be on your way; and be happy.

We make sure to stop and have breakfast here each time we come to Charon for our family reunion. Helen's serves excellent food! We get most excited about the giant plate sized pancakes! It's a great small diner. It has the small diner feel with personalized attention from the staff. I've always had good experiences when I come.

This is an average small town food place. I was hoping for a bit more, but can't be too picky when looking for a place. I had the chicken wrap which was average like I said. I want to try some where different if we go through this town again.

1st off the wait staff was good! I went to that restaurant 3 times a week until the owner told me she took great pride in the fact that she's been spitting in my food. Enough said Avoid at all cost!

DON'T DO IT....I just finished a 3800 mile trip through the black hills, yellowstone, tetons and this was my worst meal/experience of the WHOLE trip. not only was the food (Not very good) eating there was a real experience McDonalds will be much cheaper, and much better This town has a McDonalds and a Walmart...fend for yourself with those guys

Ate here on a Sunday evening in July while seeking a Nebraska steak. What I got was a chewy, flavorless, and overcooked piece of meat. The salad bar was sad with some of the worst macaroni salad I have ever had. The side dish of mashed potatoes had little flavor. The decor is Nebraska Panhandle tacky. The waitress was pleasant if not particularly attentive. This was a disappointing experience for a traveler expecting to find good beef in Nebraska.

So disgusting. Traveling through town with our 4-year old and stopped here for lunch. We were the only patrons in this place which should've been a heads-up but oh well, we stayed. I had a sandwich with various meats and lettuce. The sliced, deli-style turkey was of the lowest quality known to man. So gristly I had to pull it out and put it aside. My husband had a Cobb Salad which he said was "meh". It was gigantic, I'll give them that. Both my sandwich and his salad had really good bacon. My son had pasta with marinara sauce and a fruit cup. He gobbled up both and said they were great. I wish I had had the bravery to take a picture of the fruit cup, because there was not a single piece of fruit in it that I could identify. Some of it looked like lox/salmon and the rest of it, gosh, I don't have the vocabulary. Like wet hunks of candles of various colors, or those weird Japanese toppings at frozen yogurt shops. Or like a bowl of unwrapped sushi. The server, while pleasant enough, was totally uninformed about menu items and was totally comfortable sharing that she also didn't know what was included in the fruit cup. Never ever again. I agree with the other reviewer who said just go to McDonald's even if you're totally sick of McDonald's. At least you know what you're getting.

Based on other reviews, we ate here on vacation on a Sunday evening. The food was horrible! The "5 large grilled garlic shrimp" was a small bowl of 100 ct size salad shrimp that had been burned on the grill. My fried chicken was burnt and greasy. And it as expensive - $60 for 4 of us! NEVER going there again!

If you are looking for some comfort food in this small town, this is the place. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Have the prime rib if they are offering it.

After seeing this was the only 5 star yelp reviewed restaurant in town, I excepted something better. Food was below average and tasted like something defrosted out of a Marie Calendars frozen entree. If I wanted that I would spend 3 bucks at the store and microwaved it myself.

I can't believe this place doesn't have a review yet. This is as good as it gets. Great service, great menu (with wonderful options for vegetarian dining), a cute decor, very well-priced. Good family atmosphere yet good draught selections of beer, wine, etc. We are coming through Chadron and we are so happy we ended up here. Chadron is lovely too--well worth a stop!
