The decor is dated but the food was good. Stick to the smoked fare and the homemade pies. The steak is cooked in an electric char broiler. The service is good, but don't tell them it's OK, you might get slapped. I recommend you try it

Back alley is (thankfully) a place that you can get something with real flavor and doesn't taste like it just came out of the microwave. The BBQ is great for the area. They have a variety of different sauces that you put on yourself rather than getting your meat slathered in it in the back. The decor is nothing to write home about and frankly, kind of confusing for a barbecue place, but everything seems clean and we'll cared for. The service there is always good. I always seem to get a server that reminds me of a grandma. She's always right there the second you need something, always suggesting things for you to try and always trying to convince you you have a little more room for pie(which you need to at least try to leave room for). If you're like me and always seem to bring home half of your meal in a box, it always tastes as good to me as it did the day before. As others have said the cheesecakes and pies are fantastic, so at least split a piece with whoever you're with. The location seems a bit odd and tucked away after the moved on the east side of town, but it's worth the trip if you are in the mood for barbecue!

I stopped in here with my family on a recent trip home and was not disappointed. I tried were the fried apples this time, which were DELICIOUS, all warm and cinnamon-y, as well as the white bean chili (I think that's what it was...) which was also EXTREMELY delicious. Another successful visit!

This is a perfect example of a BBQ restaurant that's over-rated and over priced. Ordered the brisket sandwich for $8.39 and ya get a big bun with about a dozen small squares of beef, a pickle spear and a side. Too many BBQ restaurants are big on the sides and chinchy on the meat and this is one of them. Also not enough wait staff for a busy Friday night.

Waitress uniform was horribly dirty. Her attitude was as if we were a bother. Corn-bread tasted like it was a week old. Ribs were dry like sun baked shoe leather.
