Prices are affordable, food was well prepared, the Chicken, Pork and beef was flavorful and yes we will come back, the staff was friendly and was right on the spot for refills. Now how they can approve, seeing the commercial they claim from scratch cooking, and from what we had they lived up to that. BUT, was the beef chicken combo my first choice? NO They have Chicken fried steak on the menu, my eye lit up, a from scratch hand pounded chicken fried steak with a crispy breading was was making my mouth water. Well the mouth watering came to a quick dry mouth when I was told, the suds hut chicken fried steak is a frozen out of the box no different then Deny's or any other out of the box on your plate operation. What happened to "from scratch" then I started to worry, thinking please dont be feeding me out of the frozen bag BBQ Beef. But the beef combo was very good. Sure frozen chicken fried steak out of the box isn't a big deal for some, but if you wanted that wal-mart has bags of them for 5.99 so why go to suds hut for something thats not something special. Now I read about the salad bar being small, my take is I wasnt there for salad bar, and what they did have was more then a waitress would bring you in a bowl at some places, so it was a enjoyable addition. I will try lunch and breakfast its worth a try. Tip to management, frozen dinners is a cheap way out and shows no culinary skill for your cooks. If your looking to show your a cut above the rest and you want to give your customers that something little special, make a little effort to serve made to order, say no to the box

Way too dim in here for lunch. Salad bar is low and the sneeze gaurd so low you hit your arms and have to crouch for items in back against the wall... The chicken fried steak special got here before I had 4 bites of salad. I like fast service but that is suspicious. It's a frozen pre-made CFS that they nuke the shit out of and slap on a scoop of plain mash potatoes. I should of stuck to their fried chicken that gets good reviews. But last time I had it at a catered lunch they over cooked the hell out of it. I'll give suds hut one more chance someday just for a fried chicken lunch but that day will not be tomorrow.... These mom and pop places better shape up around here.

Suds Hut has some good food! The broasted oysters (my favorite), broasted half chicken and prime rib are all great options. Each dinner entree comes with the quaint salad bar. The atmosphere is inviting, almost tavern like, with brick walls and a wood stove in the middle of the floor. The staff is great in the restaurant and in the attached casino.

Awesome, comfort food. Excellent hospitality. Great service. My only gripe would be to add at least one decent wine. Maybe a Woodbridge or something. They're only $5/bottle. Go for lunch. Excellent lunch special today. Corned Beef sandwich on soft sourdough with fries and salad bar. That sandwich was incredibly good! When you walk in from the sun, the place looks VERY dark. However, after a few minutes, your eyes adjust and you can see just fine. The prices are extremely good for what you get and your drinks (iced tea) never runs out. The servers are "Johnny on the spot". Salad Bar: Slim pickens. Salad, carrots, croutons, 3 dressings. However, the dressings are homemade and the thousand island was incredible! The restaurant decor itself could be described a couple of ways. Dated? Maybe. I like to think of it as "Rustic". It feels comfortable. And, most importantly, it's CLEAN! This will become a regular spot now for us on our lunch rotation. I'd probably eat here a lot for dinner also if they had any kind of wine that didn't come out of a box.

Red and white checkered tablecloths, dim lights, and awesome food. Exactly what I was looking for. Had the fried chicken with a baked potato. Some of the best I ever had! Definitely worth a trip in.

Great place to eat! The food is awesome and very affordable. People may want to complain about the decor, but it's not that bad. It's dated, but it's homey. Steve K. obviously has lazy taste buds, or none at all. The food (especially the broasted chicken) is far from flavorless! Sud's Hut has been open for decades. People wouldn't eat there if the food was flavorless! Sud's Hut is an overall great place to eat. The service is wonderful and it will definitely keep you coming back. And really! $5 for a reasonably sized and delicious lunch. You're not going to find that anywhere else in Billings!

We have eaten suds hut for years and loved it. The last couple times were mediocre but we weren't ready to give up on them yet. Last night we ordered some of their wings to go. When we got them home they we noticed they were a 1/4 of the size they used to be and over cooked. We called hoping for some compensation but were told the girl was new and didn't know quite what to do. There was an off taste to them so I didn't eat them, my husband who was hungry ate 5 of them. He has been throwing up since. I called back today asking for a manager to explain the situation and hoping she had a better idea of how to treat customers. I was told the wings were perfect and that I was wrong to not be satisfied. As far as my husband is concerned I was told maybe I should call the health department. I've worked years in the service industry and have never seen such disregard for a customer. They could have simply offered us credit for the money we spent and apologized, instead they lost long time customers. We will never eat there again and will also make sure as many people as possible know of our terrible experience. On a good note I picked up wings from the Grandstand to replace the bad suds hut ones last night and they were phenomenal.

yes, its greasy, yes it is a dive. if either of those things turn you off, skip the suds. if not, you've got to try this place. the atmosphere is a bit of a crack up, but all part of the fun. exposed brick walls, old bowling trophies, checkered tablecloths. again, all part of the fun. and the food is really good. the broasted chicken is really what suds is famous for, and if youve ever been a fan of fried chicken at any point in your life, then youve got to try it. i personally prefer the steak or the grilled chicken breast. their fries are homemade and their jo's (potato wedges) are tasty too. the salad bar is beyond basic, but they've got the best tasting ranch dressing in town. the waitresses are very nice, and if you go in a couple times, they will remember your drink orders. they do a great take out/catering too. the price is great, you get a lot of food for your cash. they also do a really nice breakfast 7 days a week, and are never crowded. i love this place, it is a montana institution.
