This little country restaurant is awesome. I'm from Los Angeles and just here for work. GREAT food and very reasonably priced. Very friendly staff - I would eat here 3 times a week if I were local. Check out the wooden horsey in the photo - gotta luv the braids. Enjoy

Service was super! Food was really good! Price was not bad! Thanks Bull Mountain! We will be back.

When I'm touring on my Harley, I want a no nonsense but awesome dinner. When in beef country, give me a steak the locals will eat. The decor is just like the name - bull pen - lots of lumber. Okay the salad is pretty small but not what I came for. The cowboy cut ribeye is just what I needed after ten hours on a motorcycle - and no waiting. Paired with a Dog Slobber Brown Ale (local)....oh ya.

This review is pretty simple. If you enjoy extremely good prime rib or extremely good steaks. Eat here. The prices are fair, the service is good. The steaks are outstanding. That's it.

Service and order is hit or miss. The bull skins are DELICIOUS! Service was rushed and impersonal (that's how you end up with unsweet tea after ordering huckleberry tea) and the medium rare burger was very well cooked, not good. Didn't stand out as a place we'll revisit.

10 out 10 would eat here again! Cowboy ribeye was awesome, my son had baby back ribs that fell off the bone. Popcorn instead of bread a little strange at first but cool (and tasty)

Holy this place is awesome !!! First one must order bull skins and quickly devour them. I got a burger but everything that came out of that kitchen looked amazing and smelled great. They even serve beer in mason jars which I thought was pretty unique. The service was fantastic, our waitress was on point with everything.

Great signage nice look had all the the mechanism of a good steak house. The menu arrives was expecting more meat average listing of salads, sandwiches but nothing to really own the beef hype. I asked the server if the chicken fried steak a house breaded? Nope our comes pre made. That means out of a box 1.29 pre made patty for a beef patties. My take this is cheap way to get 13.95 for little to no effort nice profit margin. If you cut corners on a meal like chicken fried steak for 13.95 not giving you another chance. The up side server was nice and we posted for the tea and left.

The service was good and the food was good. However, I was surprised by the prices. The beer was $5.50 and chicken fried steak was $18. I think the menu should be discounted by 20% to be inline with comparable restaurants.

Great service, good food, but tacky and uncomfortable decor. Everything I have tried here in 4 trips has been very good and the young staff has obviously been well trained - very efficient and friendly. Kudos to management for that. The only thing I am not a fan of are the rolls that are served - flat and lacking any flavor. Good beer selection, wine selection is only so-so. I know this is a western-theme steak house, but I do not like feeling like I am sitting in a cattle chute. The decor really is horrible (Chef Robert on Restaurant Impossible would have a fit!). You can overlook the less than desirable atmosphere when the food is good and service is exceptional as it is - however, the wooden bench type booths are terribly uncomfortable. So, be sure to ask for a table not a booth! This was voted "Best in Billings" steakhouse - which I would not agree with. I would, however, sure vote them tops in service. Overall, this is a good choice, especially before or after an event at Metra. It's one of the few decent places to eat in the Heights.

Been here more then a few times the food is delicious, excellent cooked steaks. My bf usually gets the ribeye and it is spot on. He is a cook himself has been a chef in the kitchen before and won't order steak anywhere else. I've had quite a few things on the menu such as pork osso bucco and the salmon and loved them all. The Service Is always good. Is it a super fancy restaurant no but it is still a great place to eat.

We thought for sure we would get a great steak at this restaurant after all the great reviews.. We were sadly disappointed. My husband ordered a ribeye cooked medium rare. It was served medium well and tough.. The waitress realized when she set his steak on the table that it was over cooked. Actually all our steaks were thin...over cooked and underseasoned .... but not as bad as my husbands. She took it back and brought a medium rare steak. Plus she didn't charge him for his steak on the final bill...which was really nice. Great waitress! The food was average and not worth the money you pay for it. The rolls were horrible ...like hard hockey pucks. My son ordered mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was like from a mix...not made from beef stock. Won't be back. Would rather eat at Outback.

Chicken Fried Steak was awesome!!! Wife had a steak that was cooked to perfection. Hard to beat this place!!!

This place always has good service and a decent crowd. It's nothing fancy decor-wise but who cares as long as the food is good. My husband and I really like the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and cream gravy.

The steaks here are always perfect! Mashed potatoes are the best in Billings. I have never had a bad server and that is worth it weight in gold. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the roll that comes with the meal. If your in the heights and want to avoid the west end this is the place to come for a good meal.

We were at the tail end of our tour on a very long drive from Wisconson back to the Pacific Northwest, when we decided that we needed to try some Montana beef. As this had not been reviewed by Yelp yet, but had positive remarks from Urbanspoon, we decided to check it out. The pictures and descriptions on the website sounded awesome. Thankfully, the food tasted just as good as it looked. $19.99 for prime rib, loaded potato, a buttered roll, and a choice of soup or salad? A great deal! Everything from the quality of the steak, to the size of the potato, the sweet butteriness of the roll, and the delcious vegetable beef soup was delicious. The service was excellent, and there was a nice, unpretentous atmosphere. I really wanted to try their burger with briscuit - all of us ordered steaks so no one got a chance to sample it but I did have a taste of the rib eye, which was also very good/ I'm quite sure that I'll never get to have that burger, because I know that on my second visit, I'll just want the prime rib again. So, so good!

Just stopped and grabbed some lunch to take with me for a drive. The fried shrimp were large and firm with nice crisp breading. The onion rings were really good. Corn chowder was also great. Pricing was very good. Not too pricey at all. menu was generally pretty traditional stuff. Not trying to be too fancy. Semi formal interior, nice and clean. A place I will definitely visit whenever I'm in Billings.

Modest decor, excellent steaks, great service. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a comfortable dinner out without breaking the bank.

Excellent service!! Prime rib and New York steak were really good! Didn't love the Bull Skins though (they used Nacho cheese instead of the real stuff). Overall, a good experience!
(4)C W.
Way over priced. The food is not worth what they are charging, $16.99 for 5 frozen (obviously not fresh) breaded shrimp, a very small amount of fries and a roll. Very disappointed!

Been there twice for lunch... Very good burgers (the bunkhouse is about the best I've had in a very long time... Same goes or the black and bleu burger) and the mashed potatoes with gravy option instead of fries or onion rings.

We went to the Bull Mountain Grille last night to give them a second chance. There were 6 of us. First, we were seated right next to the kitchen and the foul language coming from the kitchen was offensive. The "F-bomb" was dropped more than once. After we ordered, my mother got ill, so we had to take our food home straight from the kitchen. When we got home, this is what we found: I ordered the ribeye (medium) with shrimp and a salad as my side. The ribeye was dry, very well done and a very strange grey color. I took one bite and it was flavorless and a little nasty. I never received my salad. The saving grace was the shrimp. It tasted wonderful. My daughter ordered a burger, with ONLY the meat and bun and the side salad, with ONLY lettuce and dressing. She received a burger with all of the fixings added to it and a salad with everything added. My mother ordered the chicken fried steak. It was dry and hard as a rock. She was unable to eat it at all. My sister ordered the ribeye (well) and shrimp as well. Her steak was burnt. My brother ordered the beef steak. It was flavorless and crumbly. I asked for "Au Jus" to go with it and was given orange juice. All in all, the Bull Mountain Grille is not a place that we will ever frequent again.

Great service and great steaks!!!! Went to this restaurant on a whim and really enjoyed it. We found this place here on yelp and after reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. It is a little off of I-90 but definitely worth it! Got seated right away and service was great. We had a ribeye and prime rib and both steaks were seasoned and cooked really well. Too bad we were only passing through, otherwise I would certainly go back for some more.

3 of us ordered different meals. All were EXCELLENT!!!!

My wife and I ate here for the first and likely last time tonight. This is the "Best" steakhouse in Billings? My wife order the Huckleberry strip steak and I ordered the beef tips and noodles. She also ordered a load baked potato which came with almost nothing on it. The steak was just OK, nothing special and no huckleberry flavor at all. The beef tips and noodles were pretty bad. The beef was probably the toughest I've ever had in any restaurant and there just isn't any excuse for that. The service was attentive but that can't make up for mediocre food. There are many restaurants in Billings that much better than this.

Great food, great service...worth the drive!

What a treat. Not pretentious, but the meals served up were excellent, very excellent. My wife said she had the best steak she could remember. I had prime rib with shrimp.....awesome. Service was equal to that of a fine four star joint. This is my new go-to eatery when in Billings. Sorry Rex. I may stop at the Rex just for the onion rings, occasionally.

Just traveling through wanted something other than fast food. Food was good we had the prime rib sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. Pulled pork was a little dry but fixed up nicely with a little extra BBQ sauce. Only complaint would be that our waitress seemed to forget us and we had to ask the other waitress for help. All in all not bad thanks.
