Very pleasantly surprised by this place. Over 9 dollars for a half sandwich and salad, but more than worth it. Everything is made fresh. There's a condiment/pickles/croutons/breadsticks bar in the middle of the place. Caesar salad was tasty with home made Caesar Dressing. I was free to add more croutons and shredded parmesan cheese from the center thing. The chicken salad came on this toasted bread. Best I've had in a while. Great selection and very friendly people. This is now my 5 start lunch place in Memphis/Southaven. Great alternative to BBQ, and given the quality of the BBQ I've had here so far. ... I'll take thiss everyday. The breadsticks are so yummy BTW. As are the B&B pickles, and every other thing they give away free. Capers, Roasted garlic, basil, oregano. ...really. ..I can add my own? Yum

They have quite a lot of options on their menu so it took me a few minutes to decide on what to get and I decided on a steak sandwich with a side of fruit and a fountain drink. I ordered the horseradish spread on the side and it came exactly how I ordered it. They have a small bar with a few extras (like pickles and croutons) you can add to your food along with a lot of packaged breadsticks that you add to your meal if you are so inclined. It was pretty good, but I do think it was a bit pricey (at around 10 bucks) for what and how much you get. Overall, not a bad place (if you don't mind eating at a chain restaurant) to grab a quick bite to eat if you don't mind paying a little bit more it.

My co-workers picked this place for lunch. I'm not a big deli person but I gave it a go. The place looked pretty cool. I didn't have a lot of time to look so I tried the same things I usually like at McAllister's. Unfortunately I wasn't fond of what I got at all. A co-worker offered me the rest of her ham sandwich after she had eaten all she was going to. I noticed their salads were pretty popular and looked really good in their retro-shaped bowls. If I was ever to come again I would try a salad instead. Ok: - Ham Sandwich Disliked: - Tortilla Soup - Four Cheese Mac and Cheese

Each time I come here, I always have had a great experience. I usually get food to go because the lunch crowd can be overwhelming. Grilled Chicken or Salmon Caesar Salad, Pasta Salad, & Chicken Salad are among my faves. I have found the service to be great--never an issue really.

The lobster crab bisque is better than any other I've ever had, including in Maine. The chicken sandwich with goat cheese and roasted peppers is my favorite. The chicken salad and pimento cheese are great as well. I'm not a salad eater, but their salads are huge. The sweet tea is a little too sweet. They have a large variety of good desserts, likes moist cakes and huge brownies. Newk's was started by the same guy that started McAlister's. It's a fairly local chain, as it too started in Oxford. It's a little more upscale than McAlister's and a tad bit more pricey. It's well worth the higher prices.

Great salads. We love the size and portions of all the food they offer. The staff is always very concerned about making sure we have a great experience.

First time here. I ordered the pimento cheese sandwich and a side of the Tippah County Caviar(black eyed peas salad) and a cup of mushroom soup. Best pimento sandwich ever! The mushroom soup was excellent too. The wife ordered the steak sandwich minus the caramelized onions. Well, it came with onions anyway. Promptly sent it back and the manager brought out a fresh sandwich just minutes later with her apologies. She then gave us a free dessert for our troubles. Didn't ask for it , but it was a very nice offer. This sandwich was very good and the horseradish sauce was a great dipping item. They also have a free condiment bar. It consisted of pickled peppers, roasted garlic, pickles, croutons and any kind of hot sauce imaginable. We will definitely be going back!

I really like Newks their food is very fresh and is always top notch. I am not a value based consumer and I am willing to pay good money for a good meal, but I cannot reconcile price to quantity or quality here. I just spent 50 dollars for my wife and three kids to eat here. I can often times get out of full service restaurants for the same if not less. I love to indulge every now and then, but portion sizes just don't justify the expense for me.

I wanted to give them 5 stars but their prices are a little high. The food is great we eat there at least one day a week. The soups and salads are always fresh and my favorite is the veggie sandwich and veggie pizza!!!

Went here because they have super moist cake and there is one in Charlotte. Therefore, eating here while on the road is a great/ safe way to try a place. Atmosphere - Busy, restaurant chain/ large deli styling, open kitchen, noisy, open, booths and tables, informal, green p-leather, linoleum flooring Food - Lots of choices. I had the grilled chicken sandwich/ por boy, a slice of pizza, ice tea and a slice of pineapple cake. The grilled chicken came on a delicious baguette. The pizza was surprisingly tasty with a tender thin crust and great sauce. The pineapple cake was definitely moist. Almost like a flavorful cake batter. Service - It was good for a place that takes your order, gives you a number and a tray, and then makes you wait for it to arrive. Everyone was friendly and the places was rocking with people. Overall - This is a great location for lunch with friends and family when you are hankering for some inexpensive and fresh tasting food.

Good food for the family. Nothing really spectacular but still a good meal with lots of choices. It is a steady producer that usually doesn't let you down, but like I said not spectacular.

Food is always on point .. sure, the prices are a bit on the high side .. but truthfully, this is one of the only places I'm willing to splurge on. I honestly can't think of one item on the menu that isn't good.

Food has always been good, but it is hard to mess up salads, soups, and sandwiches. Place is typically very clean and inviting. Biggest drawback is the cost. Seems to be expensive for what they're selling. Hate to spend $30 for me, my wife, and my son.

This place is amazing. The food is delicious. The fiance and I go usually in the evening, after the initial dinner rush. The crew is young, but they are all very polite, worth the drive from our place 30 minutes out. Two thumbs up to this location!

Sent this to their main office but don't expect anything to done... My family and I tried to eat at Newks in Southaven, MS on 5/18 at about 1pm. When ordering, I was informed they had run out of loaded potato soup. First they should have had an abundant amount since it is the best of the soups and second, it was only 1pm and they were not very busy. Then I was told the order would be nearly $38 for what should have been about $10 less as it has been in the past. They said their prices went up. If that is the case, I would have rather gone to a nicer place. We can eat Japanese for $40. Then there was no sweet tea, only tea with that Splenda junk in it that ruins the taste. So we tried Coke, which was not Coke, just carbonated water. We decided to just get a refund and go somewhere else. The so-called manager didn't even bother to ask what was wrong or offer to try to make things better. This is a pathetic excuse for a restaurant along with pathetic management and employees. I would suggest replacing them all with people who can get the job done, but I know my suggestion is a futile effort and all this will fall on deaf ears. Just know that my family and I will never return to this Newks. I just hope this is not the future of Newks, since at one time, it was an ok place. Not any more, though...
