My boyfriend is a big fan! Cool atmosphere, big menu. They have great lunch specials...half off rolls or something awesome like that. More bang for your buck! Check out the Groupon before you go. They will honor the lunch groupon for dinner but you miss out on lunch prices.

Came here with a friend on a Sunday night, not crowded at all. Our waiter was very friendly and explained what the dishes were. Sushi was pretty good, but my fave was the squid salad. Great flavor and really satisfying.

I had been wanting to try Sushi Bistro for a while, and when we finally made it by this week I was unfortunately not impressed. Let's start with the good. The place was gorgeous. The trendy and very up to date look created a great ambiance. The service was friendly and prompt, but we did get the early bird special dining at 5pm with only 2 other groups in the place. The reason it gets 2 stars is what we really came for...the sushi. We ordered 6 rolls and all greatly lacked flavor. I usually never use soy sauce when I eat sushi and I definitely needed it that night as the sushi was so bland! I could tell it was very fresh and neatly prepared, but it just tasted boring. The best tasting roll was the sweet potato roll as many other reviewers mentioned, but I still wasn't that impressed by it. The rainbow roll, tuna king roll, and kirkwood roll all tasted very bland despite how expensive and how many ingredients go in to them. The spicy shrimp roll was not spicy at all, and the lobster tempura roll was way over cooked as it was rubbery when trying to chew it. Sorry to say that Sushi Bistro did not impress. They did everything else but their signature items well, and sadly if you can't win me over with the food I definitely won't be a satisfied customer.

I am very judgemental about my sushi, but everything was delicious! My boyfriend and I went for a date night. The restaurant was very nicely decorated. We had Gyoza, miso, beer, house hot sake, the romance roll, the Snow White roll, and the kirkwood roll. Everything was delicious and well presented. Service was excellent. We will definitely go back. If it weren't for the groupon, we probably would never have gone. Our bill also would have been $80 instead of $40. So it is a little pricey.

Beautiful restaurant, great service, awful sushi. It made me sick and did not taste fresh. The salad and soup and edamame were good. Even the tamago was sub par. Not going back.

I am always searching for new sushi places to try and this place is fabulous! The atmosphere is very chic. My friend and I tried about 5 different rolls and they were all very well made. We could not stop eating until everything was gone! Will be back.

I love sushi. With that being said, Sushi Bistro is mediocre. The sashimi was the best out of the dishes ordered. I liked that they served the sashimi over shaved ice, nice touch. The "I love sashimi" included tuna, white tuna, seared tuna tataki, salmon, red snapper, and yellowtail if I'm not mistaken. Also ordered the "I love sushi" and a few rolls. The sushi pieces were sliced rather thin. I don't know if it was just me, but there was too much vinegar in the rice. Spider, fancy, spicy white tuna, and green dragon roll all of which were just decent. Nothing to rave about especially because the rice was overpowering. I ordered 4 spicy tuna hand rolls. I may have been spoiled at my last job. Jimmy is the manager and he was great. Waitress forgot my small hot sake but he gave it to me anyways. He also offered my mother a complimentary dessert for her birthday. Greatly appreciated! The damage wasn't bad at all. About $160 including tip for a family of 4! Happy birthday mom! Unfortunately, I will not be back. If you're contemplating on trying this place, you should! It's definitely worth a try. They do have other items on the menu I haven't tried. I'm just a sushi connoisseur!

Great prices, tasty, and nice atmosphere. My husband and I went in after a groupon purchase and used it for lunch to celebrate his new job. We both like sushi and have had sushi in Japan (my husband was stationed in Japan will in the services) so we are a little bit of sushi snobs and were a little hesitant but we both agree we will be back! My husband loved the sweet potato rolls! He got a 3 roll combo and I got the chicken bento box. I also enjoyed my tasty and very pretty bento box. The only minor complaint I have is that the lunch bento box chicken is pretty small. It tasted great but it was pretty thin and small in width. However, then again it is a lunch box and only $12.50 with rice, veggies, and a California roll so the price isnt unreasonable.

Very good lunch special, 2 rolls, soup and salad for $9.99. Fresh fish, excellent service and a contemporary vibe. Definitely recommend.

Amazing food and atmosphere! I had the best meal I've ever had at a Japanese restaurant! The Steak & Chicken combo was fantastic, as was the soup, salad and vegetables. The spring roll appetizers was great, too. My wife had the Kirkwood roll and love it along Chirashi... She said best sushi in STL! Highly Recommend!

  • Joshua S.

Unfortunately there wasn't enough staff to handle all the patrons, the service was poor, slow and the presentation of the sushi was horrible. I do not recommend.

Absolutely delish! I can't even count how many times I've been and have never been disappointed with service or sushi rolls. Thanks Groupon for introducing me to this spot! By far my fave place for sushi in St. Louis!

Oh, Groupon - how I love you! We were in the Kirkwood area, so I took a look to see if any restaurants around were offering a Groupon deal... and there was Sushi Bistro! This place really earns the Yelp "A-OK" rating - good food, good prices, nice atmosphere but nothing to write home about. They have an extensive sushi menu, as well as a robust selection of additional entrees - hibachi, tempura, teriyaki. The service was friendly and timely - everything was clean and tastefully designed. Seems like a nice place to grab a tasty, reasonably priced menu (they had a really good selection of lunch specials) if you're in the area - but I wouldn't travel any great distance to have it again. A-OK!

Really like this place it hasn't been open long, but we have been here 2 times now and both times hit the spot. We had soup, salad, soft shell crab appt. and a specialty roll and one off the menu. The service was good, but the waiter didn't space things properly so everything came one after another so I didn't know where to begin.

Sushi Bistro deserves way more respect than its' tiny strip mall storefront gets. My judgmental self automatically thinks a sushi restaurant in a strip mall is going to be bad. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice the inside was. You could go hear for a casual date, carry out, or any occasion really. I shared a few different rolls that all tasted pretty good for the most part. We got a Tuna Roll, a Crazy Roll, and a Shrimp Tempura Roll, and one more that I can't remember the name of. The Shrimp Tempura was my favorite but that's because I love tempura. While my experience was generally good, there were a couple things with the food that seemed off. The Crazy Roll was fried and I was into it but I think they cooked it wrong. To my understanding, fried rolls are supposed to be flash-fried but in this one part of the fish was kind of cooked giving it an odd flavor. That was my speculation but regardless something seemed off. The other food mishap was the seaweed salad. I loveeeee seaweed salad and this one tasted fine but it had an excessive build up liquid. It kind of tasted/felt like it had been made that morning and was scooped out of the bottom of the bowl. I have nothing against pre-made food in general, but this was noticeable. Okay, I sound like I'm whining but I'm not. Most of their seating is really nice but we got put at a table that I'm 90% sure is supposed to be lawn furniture. It's super light weight and uncomfortable. They should just get rid of it instead of trying to stuff more people in there. I'm sorry to sound super picky, I hate that. I'm excited to come back and maybe try carry out if I'm in the area.

I have been there twice. Once with a group and the second by myself. The sushi was average both times. The service was slow the first time, but great the second time. On both trips the manager displayed a really bad attitude. On the second trip I asked to speak to him. The server told me he would be right over. He never came by my table. They could take a page from Wasbi on how to treat customers. I will not be back to a place where management could care less about me.

The atmosphere takes you to the orient.don't let the taco bell and mc donalds stop you... it's not just a chain experience. The rolls were so yummy...we had 7 different ones.the service was attentive...my tea was never more than 1/2 gone. Can't wait to go back

Long time Groupon user, first time reviewer, bill was $90 plus tip so we feel we had tremendous value for my sweetie, and voracious sushi eating son! Started off with miso soup, then rounded into form with the unbelievably fabulous ocean roll, the equally delicious crazy roll, and the new dynamite roll! Always been a sushimi lover myself, but was bowled over by my son's selections, new convert! My wife, who is timid with new exotics got her standard chicken tempura(sorry boring!) tried the crazy roll and the ocean roll and shockingly was blown away also, imagine that! Maybe now she'll come around, miracle of all miracles! Would have given more stars, but the sushimi was on the skimpy side.

we didn't need a reservation when we came for dinner on a saturday night with our groupon. i suggest skipping the sashimi and having some of their specialty rolls. the sushi is alright.

My 10 year old prefers this place to Wasabi and any other sushi restaurant in St. Louis. If you are gluten free it may be a bit tougher. Paradise, Tokyo and Christmas are OUTSTANDING.

I used to really like this place, I would order takeout if not dine there with my mom. But today was probably the worst order ever. When I got home with my food I could see they clearly didn't read my instructions for extra soy sauce. Instead of the normal 6 packets they decided to only give me 3. The Salmon roll had a insane amount of fat tissue and connective tissue making it unbearable to eat. Also the Dynamite roll has so much grease on it. Not to mention if you dine in the restaurant it takes for freakin ever to get anything on your table. Save your money. I'm done with this place.

I went here with a friend for dinner for the first time. It was a Wednesday night and they weren't too busy. Their selection of sushi is innovative and impressive compared to other places in the area. I loved their house salad with the traditional ginger dressing. Some restaurants can't seem to get it right, but they did. It's a decent size for the price as well. We each had the house salad and shared 3 rolls which was just the right amount. I was pleased with what we chose (Tuna King, Fancy Roll and Paradise Roll) and would order again.

Another good meal at Sushi Bistro... and that $25 for $50 Groupon that seems to always be available makes it a touch more affordable. This time we ordered the Pink Lady (one of our favs here), The Fancy Dragon (we love eel), and the 2nd Base plate. The 2nd Base gets you 3 different rolls... A rainbow, a tuna roll, and a California roll. The combo plates like this one seem like the best value in that you get 3 rolls for $18. But be careful, the Groupon won't work with all of the combo plates. The rolls are always prepared nicely. I like that this place doesn't over do it with any sauces. It seems like more and more sushi spots are slathering every roll with eel sauce and mayo sauce... so much that you cannot taste the fish. Service was ok... We've had better here in the past. One tip... if you are going to get an appetizer and don't want the rolls until you finish, you'll need to tell the waiter or hold off on ordering. Each time we've ordered an appetizer, the rolls came out at the same time.

Sushi Bistro is a cute little place in Kirkwood. It seems fairly new, but I am not sure how old they are exactly. The people who work here are really friendly and provided great service. I was a little bummed that they were out of a few things I wanted to order, but I made due with some other options--all of them delicious. The sushi was very fresh and the rice had a balanced ratio of vinegar and sugar. Always delighted to find another decent sushi place that isn't all the way downtown. For dessert, they brought out a complimentary orange and it was cut very skillfully! I do not know if this is standard practice or if they wanted to give it to me since they were sold out of the other things I wanted. Love the decor here too. Parking was really easy. I'd probably come here again to get the uni, once they have it back in stock. They have a hibachi too, which is a plus if you have non-sushi eaters in your group. ;)

The staff was great, the owner however was the one who hosted our table and he was not friendly what-so-ever. Everything was dirty, EVERYTHING, tables, seats and the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. We received only part of our order which we didn't realize since we got it to go. The rolls are small, the fish seemed to be going bad so we didn't eat everything and threw about half of our rolls away. Another thing that was quite annoying was their rice, it literally fell apart when we tried to dip it in soy sauce, so our soy sauce cups were FULL of rice when we were done. So disappointed, so we are sticking with Cafe Mochi down the street!

I frequent sushi bistro and its one of my favorite sushi bars in stl. I first discovered this place from groupon and now my friends and their family go and enjoy it just as much! the groupons are great but to be honest, i would go with or without one! favorite roll is the fancy roll!

Just went here again the other night and am pleased to say the Sushi is very consistently delicious and fresh. Our waitress was a bit of a snot, however. Sunday night at 7:00pm we show up, just two of us. As we enter the Hostess/Our Waitress asked, "how many?"--"Just the two of us."--"Do you have a reservation?"--glancing around the nearly completely empty restaurant and a dozen empty two tops--"no...do we need one?"--"yeah sometimes. Let me see what is available"--shuffles over to her computer while we stand in confused silence. Fortunately the owner came right over and ushered us to an open two top, which aggravated the waitress who was abrupt with us the rest of the night and brought our wine in dirty wine glasses.

It has taken me some time to write this reveiw because I have been traveling around the country. My business partner and I stopped in the bistro just on a whim and this was the best whim I have had. We walked in through a silly curtain but then the atmosphere was incredible. The decor was great and not at all cheesy. (minus the curtain). We were greeted by the owner and then by our waitress. She was extremely kind and excited for us to be there. I love me some sushi so of course I went over board but there wasn't anything I didn't like. I got the yellowtail sashimi, spicy tuna, yellow tail roll, and the daily special. The daily special was by far the best thing I have had. I would reccommend going there to anyone and I will stop by anytime I am in Kirkwood again. I have family that live right down the street so when I visit that will be the first place I go

Sometimes you need a 2nd try to really judge a sushi place. The atmosphere is nice, but there is better sushi close by. My favorite is Zen in Crestwood. Tokyo in Sunset Hills is better, too.

  • Allan C.

... so the two types of sushi places I enjoy are either crazy good traditional sushi places or super great value places that have a solid vege and spicy roll collection... My single visit here has been to see if this is a decent value spot for lunch. I was left with a bit of disappointment. $10 for two value rolls, soup, and salad, isn't really that bad a deal. The biggest problem is that Sushi Ai is spoiling me in the value sushi scene. Typically I go for a yellowtail and onion roll along with a futomaki/kanpyo roll. They didn't offer either in their lunch selection so I went with spicy yellowtail and tempura avocado, while munching off of others. Their spicy (insert random fish) rolls are just decent and their other rolls were on the bland side. Wait, isn't that what the soy sauce and wasabi is for? I actually prefer to not bother with adding soy sauce and wasabi to my rolls... just to my sashimi. With that said I'll definitely hit this place up again and try their non-value stuff. Any place that is going to attempt to serve uni deserves another shot.

When my mom chose this place for her birthday dinner, I was thrilled. I had been to the previous restaurant (Blue Water Grill) and also the hair salon that was in this same location, so was compelled to try it. Mom isn't a huge fan of sushi, but loves hibachi, so we were both happy. Of course, we started with edamame. After a quick edamame lesson, she got the hang of it and now has a new favorite starter. She ordered the chicken hibachi. I ordered the philly roll and the mango manica roll. Loved the mango manica roll, so did my guy. My guy ordered so many different things I cannot even begin to list them. One thing I have to mention is the smoked salmon. Super yummy! For dessert, mom had tempura ice cream. She and my guy shared it and finished it off lickety split. They were quite impressed. I cannot say this is the best sushi place I have ever been to, but I would definitely go back. It is clean and has a fresh feel when you walk in. Parking is easy and plentiful, which isn't always the case in Kirkwood. There is a decent size bar and also TVs. The service was very friendly and the staff made a big tadoo over our 4 month old son wearing a kimono. My friend bought it for him in Japan, so it was only appropriate for him to wear it for a sushi night.

Was awaiting the opening of this new restaurant in the old Blue Water Grill location, which has been empty for several years. I was not disappointed. They have an extensive menu of sushi items, along with hibachi grill, teriyaki, Katsu, and Tempura (s. For appetizers, we shared Shumai Shrimp (steamed dumplings) and Beef Negimaki. Both were new to us, and all were beautifully presented and delicious. For our 6 entrees, they came with miso soup and a salad with a nice, light house made ginger dressing. Choices of rice with the entrees were white, fried, and brown. I had the Shrimp Tempura which came on a plate with the shrimp and asparagus, zucchini, mushroom, and squash also Tempura style. It was the best I had ever had. I think they added finely chopped panko to their tempura which made it extra crunch. All the other entrees were praised by the others, and most of us had leftovers to bring home. Nice selection of wines, and their plum wine and tea was delicious too. People next to us had the sushi-looked phenomenal-will definitely return to try their some of their vast selection, including nightly specials. There is also a bar to sit at to watch the sushi chefs and preparation of the food. The food rated a 5-the only reason I gave the restaurant a rating of 4 was because service was a bit spotty with entrees coming out at different times. But I think that was to the restaurant just being opened last week, and having almost a full house already. It is so nice to have another choice for local dining available for both lunch and dinner. Give it a try!

So my goal is to try and find new sushi finds around STL, so I happen to find Sushi Bistro in Kirkwood. I went on a nice evening and sat outside on their patio. They had a very large menu with multiple items. It took along time to go through everything. I felt the service was a little rushed, he was constantly at the table, however I still had to ask for small plates and sweetnlow for my tea bc it wasn't on the tables. After looking over the menu, I settled on the dumplings & vegetable tempura for appetizers. Both were good, however very small as compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. I think there were 5 dumplings and only a few pieces of vegetables. As for as rolls, I had shrimp tempura, peanut/avocado, and a shrimp/smoked salmon/avocado roll (I forgot the name). All of them were ok, nothing to rant and rave over. The best one was the shrimp/smoked salmon/avocado roll. I probably won't go back because there are so many other sushi places to try in the STL area.

This place has the BEST smoked salmon & the BEST eel I've ever gotten at a sushi place and I eat a lot of sushi. Great service with a great atmosphere. My family & I love this little place in Kirkwood & we hope they can survive in the area with so many restaurant competitors.

Mediocre special rolls. They were small for the cost and they were not as tasty as other St Louis sushi places.

I am a regular customer of Sushi Bistro and always get the Groupons ! I recommend to a lot of friends so when I came I for Father's Day bringing my dad to a special dinner and they told me we couldn't use it on Fathers Day I was not wry happy. I told the manager it is not written anywhere on the Groupon saying no holidays and that he has to except this groupon. The manager said he would give us the groupon since we waited and it didn't say it in the fine print. Good move manager because I will absolutely keep coming to your restaurant and recommending this to anyone! ThAnk you for making this Father's Day so special!

Disclaimer: I go out to eat a lot at a lot of different types of restaurants but I have always been partial to Japanese. I came in for a dinner after a long day of work. I am a paralegal so my work is very stressful. This restaurant helped me relax with its excellent atmosphere created by good music, fine utensils, and a fantastic waiting staff with an excellent grasp of their menu as well as all Japanese food. They had a full bar which I took advantage of. They also had every Japanese food category I could ask for from tempura to nigirizushi. The food was excellent and not at all unreasonably priced. I came on a busy Friday night and sat at the sushi bar and had no problem at all being waited on. My glass was never empty and I left satisfied and smiling. This is a very classy nice restaurant so I would not suggest bringing children that are too young but besides that I imagine there isn't a crowd or group type they couldn't accommodate.

This is my "go-to" place for sushi. The fish is good quality and not too "fishy." The fancy roll is my favorite, but the Kirkwood roll is a close second. The Kirkwood roll has about 5 bites to it while the Fancy roll is large and has 8 bites to it. I love how light and flavorful the Kirkwood is. The Dynamite roll is deep fried and delicious. The sweet potato roll is like what you would expect a sweet potato french fry roll to taste like. Maybe that sounds bad, but the sweet potato roll is a treat. The Yellow Dragon roll is a wonderful blend of mango and spice. I don't typically enjoy mango, but the mango flavor in the Yellow Dragon is so light, that it is very enjoyable for me. I loved how the spice and mango worked together in that roll. The Nura Bella roll is also wonderful. I really enjoyed the house salad, which is light and delightful. The place is classy and hip, but it is a great place for a date, an evening with friends or family. Jazz music is played for atmosphere. Relaxing atmosphere. The service has been outstanding everytime i have been there. The waitors are eagar and available to take care of your needs. I love to dine here.

Had lunch here, there were only a couple other tables occupied but it took nearly 40 minutes for our entree to be served. The sushi was "meh", not bad but I'd had better luck elsewhere around town. The interior and atmosphere was very nice and comfortable, and they have a large menu with many options for those who may want a grilled habachi alternative to typical sushi restaurant. The servers may be hit-and-miss, ours did not seem too great (maybe newer, or language barrier) but I overheard one of tables over that seemed to be doing a lot better job, explaining the specials and making recommendations.

Best food ive ever had in my entire life. Service was even better. I ate the casino roll and the paradise roll. On the side I had an ocean roll and a few pieces of the tobiko with quail egg. The food was quick and better then any other competing sushi bars in the area. A MUST try.

We tried this new restaurant in Kirkwood this weekend and it was great. The atmosphere is dark, trendy, and still family friendly. There is a nice sushi bar, shaped like an arch, and a comfortable number of tables. The sushi appetizers were fresh, clean, and crisp tasting - like good sushi is supposed to be. The soup and salad were standard Japanese fare, but tasty and good quality. Our main courses were delicious and pretty large. Hibachi grill foods were excellent. The Katsu was crispy, and well made. Decent selection of beers and wines. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. Overall, a great addition to Kirkwood. The suburb has been missing a great Japanese place for years and this fits like a glove. (located at the previous location of Blue Water Grill, near the Post office and Manila Bistro and Starbucks.)

I love sushi and was excited to find a place close to work. I was very disappointed; the appetizers and rolls came in very small portions for the price. The roll I ordered was wrapped in gummy seaweed, the fish itself was not fresh. I left most of it and will not be back.

This has got to be my favorite sushi place here in the St. Louis area. I've tried all the "go to" sushi places and this place does it right! Fresh with a clean presentation and most of all the rolls are not loaded with rice! The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The ambiance is chic and cozy. It looks unassuming being that it's in a strip plaza (but coming from Chicago that seems to be normal here) but when you arrive you are pleasantly surprised with the sushi bar. I can't say I've had one bad experience. I've been there more than 5 times since they've opened and the key is that they have been consistent from the start! That's extremely important to me for a sushi place since fresh fish tells you that they have good turn over, know how to handle and store the fish, and have regular delivery. Not one day is better than another which you might find with some of the other sushi places. They have a great lunch menu and a large selection for those that prefer cooked food.

My all time FAVORITE sushi restaurant! I have been here several times and I have never had anything I didn't like. All of their rolls are delicately made and prepared wonderfully. The cooked food..hibachi, katsu, teriyaki everything is just wonderful! I come here alone, brought a friend (friends) and I have even brought a big family here before! I just can't get enough of this place. The atmosphere is wonderful too, quiet music, dim lighting, very nice. 5+ stars from me! LOVE IT

Awful. Absolutely awful. I go in on Sunday night 45 minutes before they close wanting sushi to go. There were still a couple of groups of people in there so I didn't feel poorly about it. Anyway greeted by the world's most unfriendly hostess (a girl) - in fact, my "check-in" references this. She was incredibly rude. Told me to pick my own menus to use from these three gigantic stacks. I pick the one you write on - because I wanted sushi - which didn't amuse her and she got snippy with me and told me to just tell her what I wanted already. I ordered two rolls. One had asparagus... I can't remember what I ordered exactly... It didn't really matter because they tasted identical, only one had hard masses of flavorless asparagus in it. And they both had this taste I couldn't pinpoint at first... Took me a very long time to realize they tasted like the sauce on a whopper (I haven't been to BK since 2009 or 2010 / but that's a recognizable sauce). Worse yet? The sushi was wet because it was oozing this sauce, like dripping when I picked up a piece. I tried to stomach through it as with my tip (if I am not adamant about 20% minimum she would have gotten zero) it was almost $30 (for a to-go order), but I couldn't even eat half it was so awful. I gave it to my dog... Never again. Cafe Mochi and Seven have never left a bad taste in my mouth figuratively or literally so they shall be getting my sushi business from now on. Even if the sushi were good, I wouldn't go as a means of avoiding that hostess. Two stars just because the environment is cool without being themed... And the parking lot is super easy to get in and out of

I tried this place out for my birthday dinner, and we were pleasantly surprised! Food was awesome. I recommend the Godzilla roll and the GGG O'HHHH(sp?) roll. SO good!! I am still stuffed! On top of that, the server was awesome! He was super friendly and very attentive to us. The overall experience was perfect!! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday sushi dinner! P.S. Mochi is my all-time favorite sushi restaurant. This place has definite potential to compete for first. I'll have to go a few more times to be sure.

I was unimpressed with both the service and the sushi... I got a roll that cost $16 and found it to have the shrimp on either end... and then imitation crab meat (like for a California roll) in the middle pieces... i found this to be insulting. the house salad was great though...

After trying Graham's in Webster only to find it was closed (on a Sunday at 5pm?), we drove over to see if Manila Bistro was open (it also was not...), so we saw this new place and decided to eat here. Just the high points (which are the entire experience!) Amazing server and best service ever. I spilled soy sauce on my jacket, she brought me club soda, AND offered to put in a bowl to soak it back in the kitchen. She checked up on us, and recommended what sauces we should pair with which dishes. Amazing food - the godzilla roll is even better than my old favorite roll (the fried cheesesteak at Drunken Fish). It was fatty and delicious, but you could also taste the fresh fish. The chicken teriyaki was great. And we overheard the people in the table next to us talking about a groupon, and we used it. However, even after the groupon, the bill was still $55, so this place is a little pricey.

Waitress couldn't answer the simplest menu questions like: what vegetables are in the vegetable tempura. Also she gave us soy sauce instead of tempura sauce for our tempura and she also gave us soy sauce instead of tonkatsu sauce. Anyone who knows anything about Japanese food would not make such a basic mistake. Also we were sitting next to a bunch of stuff that should have been out of sight in a supply closet somewhere. Only someone who is unfamiliar with REAL Japanese food would think this i good food.
