Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

The food is good, tends to have a little more spice than other local Mexican restaurants... The margaritas, especially the Master Paco margarita is delicious! The service has been great, I'm excited and hopeful this is a restaurant to stay!

I finally think this Mexican restaurant may actually last here. The location, size and decor are perfect for our little town. The food was pretty good, a bit over priced on some menu items but other than that, so far so good. I like that they serve breakfast too! I'll report further after next few visits.

Exceeded our expectations. Party of 9 and everyone was happy. Great service as well.

This place was a swing and a miss. We had wanted it to be good, as Farmington has had a few Mexican restaurants but they never stay for the long haul. We went on a weekday evening and it was not a busy night, so we were seated pretty quickly. First to come were 2 glasses of water and some very greasy, cold and stale chips accompanied by very watery and flavorless salsa. I ordered the carnitas street tacos and when asked if they had corn tortillas he said they don't - which is pretty rare if you are staying authentic to real street tacos. When my order arrived, the tortilla soft shells were soaking wet from sitting in a puddle of grease on the plate. My food was covered in shredded American cheese, lettuce and more watery salsa - not I expected for street tacos - which the server said was very authentic Hopefully it gets better with time, but the food needs a major overhaul

This place is just average. I got a beto burrito which had chicken and chorizo. I thought it was pretty good. My wife got some seafood dish. Wish I remembered the name and will update the review if I ever go back with it (unlikely). It was a specialty dish but didn't taste special at all. It was advertised as spicy but our kids (whom are picky with spicy) had no problems eating it. It was nothin special and would definitely not order it again. We ordered the kids a soft shell taco which was good and a cheese quesadilla which was not very good. A cheese quesadilla ... how do you not make that good? Well, I found out! Not have the cheese fully melted and the tortilla still be soft and not slightly crispy. The service was also average. Had to grab the waiters attention a couple times. Didn't really get water refills. Now that I write this I'm thinking service really wasn't that good. This place is good enough for me to go to if I'm craving Mexican and don't want to drive far. Otherwise there are better places overall locally and better Mexican a city over.

The food at El Charro was good, but in the middle of our service our server was FIRED. I hesitated to even include this, but it was a huge part of my experience. At the time of our visit, El Charro had only been open for three weeks. We arrived around 8pm on a Friday and decided to sit at the bar. Our server/bartender was friendly, and helped walk me though the different margaritas and pointed out several things on the menu that she recommended. We munched on chips and some disappointing watery salsa while looking at the menu. Our food was unmemorable based on what happened next. In the middle of our meal, our bartender said she had to go call her manager and would be right back. She was gone for a while and when she returned she was crying. She apologized and said she was sorry, but she had to leave immediately. We were shocked. A coworker walked up and hugged her. Once she left, the atmosphere changed. We could hear other employees talking about it in hushed tones. We were largely ignored after she left. Finally, someone showed up behind the bar and chatted with us for a minute telling us that yes, she was fired and then TOLD US WHY SHE WAS FIRED (which I refused to disclose, based on principal). Not only was she fired in the middle of our dinner, but another employee was now discussing it with us! I was stunned and still am. Our new server got our check and said "since I didn't help you, you don't have to tip me." Win? I have no freaking idea. We saved $6 and saw the hopes and dreams dashed of a very friendly woman. I 110% wish El Charro had waited until the end of my server's shift or spoke with her at the start of her shift. However, I do not know what happened - just the servers version. Perhaps something happened that could have not have waited until the end. I wish El Charro the best, however I'm extremely disappointed in how it was handled. I tried to give a star rating based on the experience without the drama and came up with three stars. I took a star off for what I witnessed.

Stopped in for dinner with my husband on a Monday night. We were pleased to see such a clean and inviting looking restaurant... Especially in Farmington. We received very good service... And the food was good but nothing special. Prices seemed pretty reasonable as well... We will definitely go back... And we are hopeful that this restaurant survives! We think it really has the opportunity to become a great place.

Not even close to good. Went as a group of 3 and everyone was disappointed in their meal. My dish had the biggest lake of grease I have ever seen on a plate of food! All I wanted was more water but the waitress never came back to check until we were ready to go.

Surprised at some of the low rating for this restaurant. Been here a few times and think its pretty good. My favorite dish so far is the Alambres. Decent food and meals so far have come out at a reasonable speed. Have had several dishes so far and no complaints on any. I would give this place a try.

Decent food, GREAT service, very clean and updated surroundings. Husband had a beef chimichanga, I had carnitas charras. We were both very satisfied with the flavor, and were both surprised by how generous the portions were given the fact that we'd ordered off the lunch menu. Farmington has had a lot of Mexican restaurants come and go over the years and I hope this one stays!

First off when we walked into El Charro we were pleased that they had taken the time to set the atmosphere right with the decor appropriate for the theme of the restaurant along with plenty of booths and an inviting bar if that is what you are there for. Our waiter Enrique was top notch, he was great with the kids and was very attentive and friendly with us as well. He clearly was popular with the guests as we overheard pleasant conversations around us. The food was very tasty with good size portions and came quick and hot. We even had to take some home we were so full. The chips and salsa was excellent too. Prices seemed fair for the quality and size and overall an excellent experience. It is good to see El Charro starting things right and I highly recommend anyone in the area to give it a go, you won't be disappointed. We will be returning for sure!

Not sure what to say about this restaurant, I have been here twice in a 3 week span, between the service and the food I wish them well, but we will never return. The first time we went was a Sunday and waited for about 30 minutes for a table, then waited for over an hour to get our food, the manager even had to close the restaurant early because the kitchen could not keep with the orders. The second time was a weekday for lunch and service was a better, it was also maybe a third full. Now lets talk about food, this "Mexican" restaurant is catered for the Gringo clientele, I was in the mood for a Chile Relleno" and i as what cheese they use, surprisingly they use white american cheese SERIOUSLY, they also use this for every melted cheese in the menu. The Tacos are made with flour tortillas, no Mexican ever will eat a taco made with flour tortillas, that is an open face burrito. The salsa looks and taste like the stuff you get in a jar at the supermarket. Aside from the cheese issue the food has good taste but is very inconsistent in quality.

I would go back. Food was good though portion was a bit small. Chips were way over cooked and tasted burnt though, would have asked for others but we were starving and they are free. Chimichanga was tasty..... good flavoring in the beef! The inside decor was much nicer then I expected from the outside. Service was good. So besides the burnt chips I was satisfied. I recommend they dress up the outside to match the inside so people are more apt to realise it is a nice place.
