Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

So, I really feel like I can admit to my fellow yelpers that I have a severe addiction to Mexican food. That said, I had lunch here because I had heard it was very "authentic". Authentic? Meh- to me, it tasted Americanized but I'm a big enough person to admit that I like Americanized Mexican food. I like it better than authentic Mexican food. I thought that a chimichanga would be a good lunch choice for a mundane Tuesday. I called in my order and was told I would be ready in five minutes. I said "yeah right" to myself but got in my car and was on my way. Much to my surprise, my lunch was ready when I got there five minutes later. "Holy crap, it's actually ready" said my internal dialog. I paid my $6.75 plus tax for the chicken chimichanga combo with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and some bonus chips and salsa. As I was walking out, I couldn't help but notice how heavy the bag was. My appetite is considerable. Not only could I not finish my lunch but I also couldn't eat anything else for the rest of the day. I was full bellied and happy for six hours after that meal. It was delightful. The chimichanga was full of chicken and had a really great cream sauce over the top. I'm typically not a fan of guacamole but theirs was like a cross between pico de gallo and guacamole; it had texture and flavor and I actually really enjoyed it. The rice and beans were standard Mexican fare- nothing exceptional or mind blowing. If you're craving some great Mexican fare, don't drive to Lake Street. The diverse population in the area south of the river has some awesome perks. __________________________________ Update: So I have been here a few more times since my original review. It has consistently been very good and I would recommend trying the Cancun burrito or chimichanga. Full of delicious, big shrimp (not the baby shrimp...) and chicken. Really good! The biggest thing for me is that the service is always great. I have not dined at the restaurant, only carried out, but they're always polite, don't make me wait and are just plain nice even when it is really busy.

Excellent service. Had the Cancun Chimi and it was superb. Rest of family had various combos and everyone was thrilled. I lived in CA and have spent a lot of time in TX, so I am critical of Mexican restaurants in MN. I give it a 4 because it did NOT have menudo, which I consider a litmus test for a Mex eating establishment. Will go back again!!

This place is wonderful. Extremely fast service, friendly staff, and delicious generous portions of food. I recently had them cater food for a party I planned and was overwhelmed by the great service. They delivered HUGE portions of chicken, ground beef, rice, beans, and both soft and hard shells for tacos along with all the fixings AND their famous chips and salsa. We ordered enough food for 40 people and ended up with enough leftovers for each family to take decent portions home with them. As usual, the food was great, but the price was even more satisfying, way less expensive than most other catering routes. Very pleased.

Rustic downtown location which boasts a good Monday night dinner crowd. Had the seafood chimichanga and enjoyed the numerous shrimp, little bay scallops, and faux-crab meat along with chopped celery, green bell pepper, tomatoes and carrots in a delectable creme sauce (with rice, refined beans and a dollop of mildly seasoned guacamole. It was hard to finish thanks to the crisp corn chips and salsa along with my raspberry margarita (only $3.99!). Very attentive service and they accommodated our group of 11 within minutes. Wonderful local spot!

Decided to go here based on what was open and the reviews while wandering around town. The place is unassuming from the outside but inside it is neat, clean and expansive. Large menu, Prompt service, though they didn't bring my friend his water until he asked them 4 times. Food was fresh, sizzling, and delicious.
