Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Fantastic Mexican food. Excellent portions, served fresh and hot. We went in for lunch and I had the pinto bean burrito while my mom had carne asada tacos. Both meals were excellent. You can't go wrong eating here.

On our way to a wedding, our stomachs were grumbling and we stumbled upon this place. The looks of the place, as you're pulling up, can be rather intimidating, but don't let that fool you. The parking lot was full, and we walked in to a full restaurant. Everyone sitting at the tables seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were seated pretty quickly. The menu offers all sorts of your typical Mexican/American dishes. We were greeted by a server immediately and water/chips and salsa were delivered as well. My boyfriend ordered off the vegetarian portion of the menu and I had a chicken enchilada and taco. Both portions were extremely large. We left satisfied and full.

This is a great little Mexican joint, I've had the pleasure of being here more than a couple times with extended family and it was always good food and good fun. I do recall the drinks being a little light on alcohol (big margaritas). Overall, experienced good service, filling food, and adequate alcoholic drinks ;) For those that would criticize a restaurant by its exterior looks, then go somewhere else, as you will no doubt judge it by its looks (ever read a book?)

first time here, would eat here again, had the steak and chicken fajita. enjoyed the chip and salsa.

I'm here visiting some very good friends and being from New Mexico I like my Mexican Food... I liked my #24 Chimi' and Chile Relleno. My friends enjoyed their Enchilada's. The food was served hot, the chips and salsa were very good. The service was great! The only drawback is the entrance door isn't wheelchair compatible.

Authentic, delicious and well priced. Award-winning chips and salsa. The chicken in the enchilada and tostada combination was flavorful, meaty and cooked to perfection. Service and staff were outstanding. The place was clean and well decorated with great old photos.

This is a little gem for well cooked and delicious Mexican food. My two favorites are the Arroz Con Camerones and the Picodilla Enchilada. They also provide an excellent salsa and chips that is hard to beat. At one point this was the absolute best restaurant in Faribault. It still remains in the top 2 spots depending on whether we're in the mood for Mexican or Italian! Wait staff is always friendly and this place has a family-owned atmosphere. We eat here at least once a month and love the place.

Great find in Faribault--thank you Yelp!! We arrived near closing time but were treated like the 1st customers of the day!! Tacos al carbon were good--not over dressed with fixings allowing the meat to be the star, a little guac and lime were all that were needed. Chile Relleno was well cooked with a perfectly creamy center Chips/salsa were better then normal served with a smile! Only thing missing for me was the lack of Carnitas(pork) on the menu but there was an abundance of shrimp dishes----and the beer was served well chilled too!

The most recommended place in Faribault, El Tequila doesn't let down. It's got excellent portion sizes of all the Mexican regulars...tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. Go for the Chicken Mole though, sweet and rich, it's super tasty. Recommend if... A) You're tired of taking your dates to Taco John's, you'll really impress the ladies with this place! B) You desperately need some food with FLAVOR. C) You like hole in the wall spots.

Great lunch in Faribault. I had the Tacos de Azado from the lunch menu. Great salsa, the beans and rice were both good. The tacos were served in two soft corn tortillas with lots of chopped grilled steak, onions, and cilantro, but not so much that you can't pick them up. The steak tasted great, with a little smoke flavor from the grill. I will return.

Yelp brought me here, and like always it did not disappoint. For Faribault, MN this is basically as good as it gets. The decor in the place is awesome to say the least, but the food is excellent. I was on a trip to Iowa, and hope to be back!

Actually great! You would never know by the looks of it, but this is a fantastic Mexican restaurant! The tortilla chips were served warm with spicy salsa, and the margaritas were giant and tasty. The ambiance was nice enough and the restaurant was pretty full. Huge menu. I'd definitely go again the next time I pass through Faribault. The building could use some maintenance, but all in all one of the best family-friendly restaurants you are likely to find in rural Minnesota.

I used to love this place back in my high school days! I always remember good food, hot plates, and attentive/prompt service. Their shredded beef tacos/enchiladas combination plate was my absolute favorite, although I think they also had a pretty good chile relleno. OMG, and really good fried ice cream, with lots of honey! Seriously, for someone who is moderately lactose-intolerant, the ice cream has to be good for me to order it, knowing I'll only eat a few bites. I miss you, El Tequila!

For it's relative obscure location, this place was surprisingly good. I've been very fortunate to have grown up with some great homemade hispanic food made by my brother-in-laws mother and this place had some good food. I wouldn't say great but it was good. I ordered a breakfast burrito lunch combo, Chorizo & Eggs, I'm more used to finely ground chorizo but in the midwest that's hard to find The chorizo was good overall, it had a little kick and the rice & beans that came with the lunch special was decent. I would definitely give this place a stamp of approval.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, both for the food and its customer service. I love that the staff remembers me and my friends (I swear we don't go that often), and they are always so friendly. The salsa is delicious, and everything I've tried has been lovely. They're very accommodating as well -- I've brought friends from overseas, and the staff was nice helping my friend understand the menu.

Passing through town and Yelp led me to this place. Don't let the building fool you. Great food can be found inside. Their salsa is so good I went through 3 cups myself!

Great food, good price, large portions, fast service.

You know an "authentic" restaurant is at least half-way decent when people of the nationality represented eat there. I was not expecting this in the middle of Minnesota, no sir. Good prices, and plenty of menu options to choose from. One interesting note on the menu listed the complimentary chips and salsa as "Limited." I guess someone had to ruin it for everyone. Figures.

I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the food, but what I can tell you is that the food is served promptly and the wait service is excellent. I don't believe that they have a house specialty or a signature dish, nor do they have a happy hour. They are part of a family owned chain of Mexican restaurants located in Southern Minnesota and they serve up good food at a good price and they do it fast.

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. Portions were plentiful, with more than enough to take home leftovers.

the best mexican restaurant in Faribault. Don't let the dumpy exterior fool you, this is not a public toilet facility but rather a surprisingly good, authentic Mexican restaurant. good size portions and the price is right. exceedingly pleasant
