So many of our friends raved and raved about this place, we couldn't wait to try it while in Traverse City for our honeymoon. It was a huge mistake. My husband and I got up early, and got to the restaurant about an hour after they opened. Coffee was ok, had to go get creamer off of another table, but that doesn't bother me. The menu had a lot of options, had a hard time deciding. The server was friendly. We placed our orders and waited anxiously. After about 15 minutes (which we couldn't quite understand, with only 3 tables in the place) our omelettes arrived. The eggs were an odd color, and almost too perfectly formed. The filling seemed to just be set inside of this egg-pancake contraption. And it was COLD. I don't mean, "sat under the heat lamps in the window" cold, but "this was pulled out of the refrigerator and put on your plate" cold. The server took our food back, and about 2 minutes later a new order arrived. Odd. It was not what we sent back, since we had each taken a bite, but there was no way a whole fresh order was cooked that quickly. Science wouldn't allow it. The second order was lukewarm, but edible, so we ate part of our breakfast and got our check. We didn't want to send it back a second time and be "those people" so we left it alone. $36 for breakfast and a huge disappointment later, we left, and will never return. Edit: after our experience, the manager reached out to us almost immediately. Due to his amazing customer service, we will be giving this restaurant another chance next time we are in the area.

Wow. There is something on the menu for everybody from simple to plain. Lots of non-breakfast options too. Great service and great food! We will go back anytime we are in TC.

I recently had breakfast with a friend here. I had the farmer scramble and he had the seafood scramble. It was rather bland. There is nothing special about this place. It was like eating at Denny's or Bob Evans. Fairly bland and no big deal. I think there is hype surrounding it because it is in a tourist town on a busy street. On the upside the wait staff was very polite, the food came out quickly and the coffee was good.

Was told by many locals to check this place out for breakfast and they were spot on! Wife got a big sampler and I got the traditional eggs Benedict. Both were high quality and speedy service. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of toast offered with our breakfast and the fact my eggs Benedict only came with a small fruit cup, had to order hash browns on the side.

Went here for breakfast with my husband and LOVED it! Portions were generous (for what we ordered), service was fantastic and the food was delicious! My husband ordered the country skillet and I ordered the sausage gravy omelette. We traded bites and both were wonderful! And the toast is nice and thick! Second morning in a row at this excellent eatery - great pastries, yum coffee (too bad they don't have half and half) and some innovative egg dishes, including my chorizo and jalapeño-packed egg scramble. Yum!

From all these high ratings you'd think the place was pretty good. Not so on our visit. It was a weekday around 10:45 AM. There were 5 of us and all in all we were disappointed. I had the corned beef hash and eggs. Expecting something really good from the menu description, there must have been less than 1/2 of 1 oz. of their "in house "corned beef. The hash browns weren't even cooked,,,,it was if they shook the SYSCO bag of potatoes and dumped them on the plate. The 2 eggs were just okay, and underdone for me. The toast was a really thick slab of their bread. I guess they hang their hat on their bread. We were all really hungry and I ate a lot more from my siblings plates. My sisters cheese and avocado omelet was cold when she got it. She was really hungry and did not want it to go back and have to wait who knows how long. My mother had a BLT sandwich ( this was brunch time) that was really short on the bacon and long on their giant thick bread, The entire sandwich might have had 2 tiny tiny strips of bacon. My brothers omelet was just okay...not even luke warm. His hash browns were almost raw. Our friend who joined us had some pancakes that were okay....I ate half of them because my order was so tiny. SERVICE TIP to the wait staff....be sure to have plain ol' half and half on the table. Your giant cup had every flavor under the sun, except milk flavor. What a way to ruin your first cup of joe. Service was okay. I guess, maybe she was the reason everything was cold. It was the food that was definitely the deal breaker for me. The next time I am in Traverse City, I will make it a point to AVOID this place. Granted, the place was busy. I was told by our friend that it's always busy. That is when the restaurant has to be at their best...when they're real busy and the systems are all working....not an excuse for shoddy ANYTHING. There's no excuse for lousy food in restaurants these days...especially with other places wanting your business.

I've been coming to the Omelette Shoppe for as long as I can remember- from the days of ordering the happy face pancake as a little girl to currently indulging in the French Potato Omelette. Mom and I always, always came here after church when I was young- and yes, they really did put fruit on the child's pancake in the shape of a smile. How adorable is that? Breakfast is my favorite, and so is the Omelette Shoppe. My favorite contains bacon, sour cream, and chives... so fattening, but oh so good. There's another location downtown on Cass, so roll in after your morning coffee, shopping, or church. The selection is amazing and the food is always solid. Highly recommend.

Everything totally excellent and exactly as ordered. Omelette fluffy and perfect. Hot tea served from french press-unusual. Service outstanding. And the cherry jam memorable. This is sure to be marked as one of our favorites.

We were on our way out of town on a gloomy Thursday morning and decided to check out The Omelette Shoppe before hitting the road. There was a line and a 15-minute wait, so that was a good sign that this place was legit. I had a Mexican omelette, which was huge (I saved half for lunch later) and fluffy -- just the way an omelette should be. It was packed with chorizo, peppers, sour cream and cheese. It was served with huge slices of high-quality wheat bread with a side of jam and hash browns. Overall it was a solid breakfast. But the service was left much to be desired. Our waitress was nice but the service was agonizingly slow. We were there for about an hour, which is ridiculous for a fast-casual breakfast place. I know it was busy but it can't take that long to make two omelettes, especially when the restaurant's name is The Omelette Shoppe. I'll try it again and hope the service is not as slow.

I had the West German Omelet with the raisin toast and coffee. Prices are reasonable, the Omelet was okay. The raisin toast was very tasty, but the coffee was not very good - probably instant. Service was fine and the insides pretty normal. It is a good solid breakfast place, nothing incredibly special, but will do the job if you are in the area and need a hearty beginning to your day. Make sure you get the amazin' raisin toast (it is a specialty - thick bread with raisins and a bit of frosting on top) if you go.

I've been here several times since there are not a ton of breakfast places in town that work for a business meeting. Today was decent, I had the broccoli quiche which was cooked to perfection. The crust was a perfect balance of butter and crust with the egg cooked proper. The broccoli was somewhat overcooked but that is okay. Service here is always at best a "B" average and today was no exception. Some day's the wait can kill you but today wasn't one of them.

There are 2 locations in TC and this one off of front street is bigger; can accompany larger parties much more easy than the downtown location.

We love this place and we've been coming here for years. They have a huge menu- breakfast and lunch. Omelettes are great- although they should be being an omelette shoppe. I had one recently though where the inside was a bit on the runny side. Service is sometimes very slow. We went to the register to pay and we were told to wait at our table and the waitress would get the bill for us. We went back to the table and sat down... we were there for an extra 15 minutes when we could of been out the door. I gave an extra star for them having canned Corned beef hash. You can't find a place in Norther MI that doesn't have homemade corned beef hash.

Last year I would have given it a 5; went almost every day of my vacation. This year I was disappointed. The place was packed as usual. The omelette tasted like they used frozen veggies and then mixed them into eggs. The pancake was nothing special too and I have no desire to return.

Not sure why this place got such rave reviews. The waitstaff was friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. It felt like it wasn't really made to order-it almost seemed like buffet food that you don't have to stand up and plate yourself.

Yes, I completely understand all the buzz about this cinnamon-roll situation... I don't even like cinnamon roll situations but their cinnamon roll game was strong. Hot and soft not too sweet but totally sweet but not too sweet. And if I were to judge this establishment based solely on their Earl Grey I would give it five stars 20 times in a row. It came in a French press the tea was so beautiful that even if you are familiar with Teavana you haven't seen anything like this. It tasted like lavender flowers and bergamot flowers and black tea flowers. If the meal began and ended with this cup of earl gray... I can't... No more words! Now for the difficult part. I ordered eggs Benedict. I never order special or fancy spins on the eggs Benedict because every time I do I'm disappointed. So I started off ordering the classic eggs Benedict. My waitress recommended the crab cake Benedict. The earl gray was so good that I just went for it. The crab cakes were unappealing. Too salty, a strange texture for a crab cake. The hollandaise was forgettable... it should either be delightfully lemony or it should be rich and yolky. It was neither, and there was maybe a teaspoon worth on each mound. But forget about all of that...The yolks...of the eggs....were....cooked completely solid. The horror! Our waitress didn't come by to ask our food was so I waited quite some time... My boyfriend ended up going to look for our waitress to let her know about the egg situation. By the time I got new eggs everyone was done with their meal. And the eggs were again... Cooked solid! Oh well... Maybe next year when I come back to traverse I'll try the omelette shop again...

I'm usually pretty boring when it comes to breakfast/brunch choosings -- maybe I'll order a basic eggs, bacon, hashbrown dish or Eggs Benedict or lox & bagel... but here, I ordered an omelette because... well, you know. The Maryland omelette to be exact and it was AMAZING! Never have I ever gotten an omelette chock full of lump crab meat like that! It also had asparagus, wild mushrooms and a creamy cheese sauce in it too. Mmmm mmmmmmm! It was so delicious! You also got a choice of toast to go with your omelette and I fortunately opted for the glazed cherry pecan bread. Oh man, it was a Texas Toast-sized piece with what looked like cinnamon roll icing drizzled on the top! It tasted like French toast! This place is cute with a diner feel and the staff were super friendly! Hoping maybe I'll be able to make my way back up here for another great meal!

Our first choice for breakfast in TC! We have been many times and are never disappointed. The wait is usually significant but always worth it. Most recently, I enjoyed the French toast platter. Delicious! Plus expertly prepared hash browns and bacon. So often, I find a breakfast where both are undercooked. My wife tried the New Mexican Omelette which was fantastic!

Good Flavor inside the omelette. The inside wasn't quite cooked all the way (which I'm ok with since I don't want dry eggs, but it may scare someone off). There wasn't much in the way of seasoning, but this is what I'm used to at most restaurants. Places are afraid of salt, pepper and herbs because not everyone likes the same amount. Quality service, decent coffee.

I just had breakfast here with my gf and three other friends. First off the coffee mugs were dirty, when asked for new mugs the waitress took our mugs went to the back of the kitchen and came back with coffee mugs filled with coffee so we were not able to see if they were actually new or clean mugs. The food I ordered the strawberry pancakes while my gf orders an omelette. Both were very gross, the food was cold and had a funny after taste. My brother and his gf also ordered breakfast and there food was also gross. I would stay away from this place. Very disgusting food and dirty cups and silver wear.

The omelettes are good, stuffed hash browns are tasty. Today I tried the cinnamon, granola and apple oatmeal and it was good as well. Never had a bad meal here. Give it a try and yelp back. Enjoy!

My wife had the Denver omelet. Both were amazing! Next time you are in Traverse City you have to stop in, and when you do, tell Christine the couple from Texas said, "Hi!" She was a gem of a waitress. More like a "Greattress"! Oh, and you have to try the oat bran cherry glazed toast. It's dessert for breakfast!

I ate here today. Our server was very nice. She was the best part. The coffee was very watery and may as well have been decaf. My girlfriend got the European omelette. The ham tasted like prepackaged Alexander and hornung crap. The egg itself looked like the yolk you buy in a milk carton. Very bland. I got the corned beef hash. While not awful, the corned beef was a bit dried out and the portion was tiny. The sunny side up eggs were weird. The yolks were about the size of nipples. Very small and not runny. Very odd eggs. Luckily I got a side of bacon. The bacon was good because, well, it's bacon. Somehow this all costed $27. I'm willing to pay that for breakfast, but not when the portions are that small, and the food that mediocre.

Our experience was very uneven. I ordered the hash brown special, which was very tasty. My wife ordered the potato pancakes, which were, frankly, the worst thing any of us ate on our trip. They were not made with shredded potatoes, but tasted like they were made with powdered potatoes. They were inedible. My daughter's biscuits were also a bit on the hard side, but her sausage gravy was outstanding.

French Toast made from fresh-baked cinnamon rolls? What a sinful concept. Add to that flavored coffee creamer and I am in heaven. Plus a pleasant staff and a regular customer who took interest in my vacation travels. If in Traverse City, do yourself a favor and have breakfast here.

Very mediocre brunch. The soda was flat, the hash browns were undercooked, the rolls were very OK. They are apparently known for their sticky buns and cinnamon rolls but they taste quite commercial .....More like Wonder Bread. The order was wrong for 2 of the 3 of us but cheerfully and quickly corrected. We will try elsewhere.

The hash browns were good too, and the wheat toast was so thick that you could almost mistake it for a slice of Texas toast. The strawberry jelly for the toast had chunks of real strawberries in it and was delicious. My only complaint was that I had to order hash browns as an extra. I'd definitely recommend stopping here for breakfast if you are in Traverse City.

The staff here has been awesome especially Jeff . Jeff took time to tell us the specials and give us his opinions on what his favorite dish was . The cinnamon roll was ok if you like the doughy kind. The food was good as well. The portions are small in comparison to South Bend's portions. A must stop if you like diners.

I love places like this for a hearty breakfast. I could not eat here often because I would get fat, but for an occasional indulgence it is good. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall. The decor is just like an old school diner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food comes fast and is affordable. I ordered the sausage gravy omelette. It comes stuffed with pork sausage, onions, jack cheese and hash browns. Then it is covered with sausage gravy. It is very tasty and quite filling. I chose the cherry toast as my side. It was a huge slab of delicious toast drizzled with a sweet frosting.

A moderately upscale take on traditional diner food. There's quite literally something for everyone, and the coffee is great--no burned diner swill, here. Portions are massive, regardless of what you order, but the dishes are a little pricier than they deserve to be. I ordered the Irish skillet, which was homemade corned-beef hash with eggs and red potatoes, and it came with a hearty slice of toast that was clearly baked fresh (and I could have easily eaten more of). The hash was a bit dried out, but it was still enjoyable. It would have been too much food if I didn't know I'd be hiking in a few hours.

Our first choice for breakfast in TC! We have been many times and are never disappointed. The wait is usually significant but always worth it. Most recently, I enjoyed the French toast platter. Delicious! Plus expertly prepared hash browns and bacon. So often, I find a breakfast where both are undercooked. My wife tried the New Mexican Omelette which was fantastic!

I love places like this for a hearty breakfast. I could not eat here often because I would get fat, but for an occasional indulgence it is good. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall. The decor is just like an old school diner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food comes fast and is affordable. I ordered the sausage gravy omelette. It comes stuffed with pork sausage, onions, jack cheese and hash browns. Then it is covered with sausage gravy. It is very tasty and quite filling. I chose the cherry toast as my side. It was a huge slab of delicious toast drizzled with a sweet frosting.

Good Flavor inside the omelette. The inside wasn't quite cooked all the way (which I'm ok with since I don't want dry eggs, but it may scare someone off). There wasn't much in the way of seasoning, but this is what I'm used to at most restaurants. Places are afraid of salt, pepper and herbs because not everyone likes the same amount. Quality service, decent coffee.

No trip to TC is complete without a visit to this great establishment. They have it down. Always a wait and it's never too long. That is much appreciated. The service is great and the food is the best in Traverse. Love this place. A family tradition that we all love. The tomato soup is a must. Best in the world. See you next year!!

I ate here today. Our server was very nice. She was the best part. The coffee was very watery and may as well have been decaf. My girlfriend got the European omelette. The ham tasted like prepackaged Alexander and hornung crap. The egg itself looked like the yolk you buy in a milk carton. Very bland. I got the corned beef hash. While not awful, the corned beef was a bit dried out and the portion was tiny. The sunny side up eggs were weird. The yolks were about the size of nipples. Very small and not runny. Very odd eggs. Luckily I got a side of bacon. The bacon was good because, well, it's bacon. Somehow this all costed $27. I'm willing to pay that for breakfast, but not when the portions are that small, and the food that mediocre.

Very mediocre brunch. The soda was flat, the hash browns were undercooked, the rolls were very OK. They are apparently known for their sticky buns and cinnamon rolls but they taste quite commercial .....More like Wonder Bread. The order was wrong for 2 of the 3 of us but cheerfully and quickly corrected. We will try elsewhere.

Yes, I completely understand all the buzz about this cinnamon-roll situation... I don't even like cinnamon roll situations but their cinnamon roll game was strong. Hot and soft not too sweet but totally sweet but not too sweet. And if I were to judge this establishment based solely on their Earl Grey I would give it five stars 20 times in a row. It came in a French press the tea was so beautiful that even if you are familiar with Teavana you haven't seen anything like this. It tasted like lavender flowers and bergamot flowers and black tea flowers. If the meal began and ended with this cup of earl gray... I can't... No more words! Now for the difficult part. I ordered eggs Benedict. I never order special or fancy spins on the eggs Benedict because every time I do I'm disappointed. So I started off ordering the classic eggs Benedict. My waitress recommended the crab cake Benedict. The earl gray was so good that I just went for it. The crab cakes were unappealing. Too salty, a strange texture for a crab cake. The hollandaise was forgettable... it should either be delightfully lemony or it should be rich and yolky. It was neither, and there was maybe a teaspoon worth on each mound. But forget about all of that...The yolks...of the eggs....were....cooked completely solid. The horror! Our waitress didn't come by to ask our food was so I waited quite some time... My boyfriend ended up going to look for our waitress to let her know about the egg situation. By the time I got new eggs everyone was done with their meal. And the eggs were again... Cooked solid! Oh well... Maybe next year when I come back to traverse I'll try the omelette shop again...

French Toast made from fresh-baked cinnamon rolls? What a sinful concept. Add to that flavored coffee creamer and I am in heaven. Plus a pleasant staff and a regular customer who took interest in my vacation travels. If in Traverse City, do yourself a favor and have breakfast here.

Not sure why this place got such rave reviews. The waitstaff was friendly, but the food was mediocre at best. It felt like it wasn't really made to order-it almost seemed like buffet food that you don't have to stand up and plate yourself.

From all these high ratings you'd think the place was pretty good. Not so on our visit. It was a weekday around 10:45 AM. There were 5 of us and all in all we were disappointed. I had the corned beef hash and eggs. Expecting something really good from the menu description, there must have been less than 1/2 of 1 oz. of their "in house "corned beef. The hash browns weren't even cooked,,,,it was if they shook the SYSCO bag of potatoes and dumped them on the plate. The 2 eggs were just okay, and underdone for me. The toast was a really thick slab of their bread. I guess they hang their hat on their bread. We were all really hungry and I ate a lot more from my siblings plates. My sisters cheese and avocado omelet was cold when she got it. She was really hungry and did not want it to go back and have to wait who knows how long. My mother had a BLT sandwich ( this was brunch time) that was really short on the bacon and long on their giant thick bread, The entire sandwich might have had 2 tiny tiny strips of bacon. My brothers omelet was just okay...not even luke warm. His hash browns were almost raw. Our friend who joined us had some pancakes that were okay....I ate half of them because my order was so tiny. SERVICE TIP to the wait staff....be sure to have plain ol' half and half on the table. Your giant cup had every flavor under the sun, except milk flavor. What a way to ruin your first cup of joe. Service was okay. I guess, maybe she was the reason everything was cold. It was the food that was definitely the deal breaker for me. The next time I am in Traverse City, I will make it a point to AVOID this place. Granted, the place was busy. I was told by our friend that it's always busy. That is when the restaurant has to be at their best...when they're real busy and the systems are all working....not an excuse for shoddy ANYTHING. There's no excuse for lousy food in restaurants these days...especially with other places wanting your business.

I've been coming to the Omelette Shoppe for as long as I can remember- from the days of ordering the happy face pancake as a little girl to currently indulging in the French Potato Omelette. Mom and I always, always came here after church when I was young- and yes, they really did put fruit on the child's pancake in the shape of a smile. How adorable is that? Breakfast is my favorite, and so is the Omelette Shoppe. My favorite contains bacon, sour cream, and chives... so fattening, but oh so good. There's another location downtown on Cass, so roll in after your morning coffee, shopping, or church. The selection is amazing and the food is always solid. Highly recommend.

Everything totally excellent and exactly as ordered. Omelette fluffy and perfect. Hot tea served from french press-unusual. Service outstanding. And the cherry jam memorable. This is sure to be marked as one of our favorites.

Great service and great food. The Mexican omelette I had was delicious and big. The hash browns were good too, and the wheat toast was so thick that you could almost mistake it for a slice of Texas toast. The strawberry jelly for the toast had chunks of real strawberries in it and was delicious. My only complaint was that I had to order hash browns as an extra. I'd definitely recommend stopping here for breakfast if you are in Traverse City.

A moderately upscale take on traditional diner food. There's quite literally something for everyone, and the coffee is great--no burned diner swill, here. Portions are massive, regardless of what you order, but the dishes are a little pricier than they deserve to be. I ordered the Irish skillet, which was homemade corned-beef hash with eggs and red potatoes, and it came with a hearty slice of toast that was clearly baked fresh (and I could have easily eaten more of). The hash was a bit dried out, but it was still enjoyable. It would have been too much food if I didn't know I'd be hiking in a few hours.

I recently had breakfast with a friend here. I had the farmer scramble and he had the seafood scramble. It was rather bland. There is nothing special about this place. It was like eating at Denny's or Bob Evans. Fairly bland and no big deal. I think there is hype surrounding it because it is in a tourist town on a busy street. On the upside the wait staff was very polite, the food came out quickly and the coffee was good.

Was told by many locals to check this place out for breakfast and they were spot on! Wife got a big sampler and I got the traditional eggs Benedict. Both were high quality and speedy service. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of toast offered with our breakfast and the fact my eggs Benedict only came with a small fruit cup, had to order hash browns on the side.

Loved seeing and learning about their VIP program and what you can earn for specific number of visits. They cater to senior citizens with a daily discount. That was nice to see. Huge menu. We were on our way out of town on a gloomy Thursday morning and decided to check out The Omelette Shoppe before hitting the road. There was a line and a 15-minute wait, so that was a good sign that this place was legit. I had a Mexican omelette, which was huge (I saved half for lunch later) and fluffy -- just the way an omelette should be. It was packed with chorizo, peppers, sour cream and cheese. It was served with huge slices of high-quality wheat bread with a side of jam and hash browns. Overall it was a solid breakfast. But the service was left much to be desired. Our waitress was nice but the service was agonizingly slow. We were there for about an hour, which is ridiculous for a fast-casual breakfast place. I know it was busy but it can't take that long to make two omelettes, especially when the restaurant's name is The Omelette Shoppe. I'll try it again and hope the service is not as slow.

I had the West German Omelet with the raisin toast and coffee. Prices are reasonable, the Omelet was okay. The raisin toast was very tasty, but the coffee was not very good - probably instant. Service was fine and the insides pretty normal. It is a good solid breakfast place, nothing incredibly special, but will do the job if you are in the area and need a hearty beginning to your day. Make sure you get the amazin' raisin toast (it is a specialty - thick bread with raisins and a bit of frosting on top) if you go.

I've been here several times since there are not a ton of breakfast places in town that work for a business meeting. Today was decent, I had the broccoli quiche which was cooked to perfection. The crust was a perfect balance of butter and crust with the egg cooked proper. The broccoli was somewhat overcooked but that is okay. Service here is always at best a "B" average and today was no exception. Some day's the wait can kill you but today wasn't one of them.

Love the omelette's, but the down fall is so does everyone else. For a breakfast place you would think it would be quick, but we waiting over an hour to get our food. There are 2 locations in TC and this one off of front street is bigger; can accompany larger parties much more easy than the downtown location.

We love this place and we've been coming here for years. They have a huge menu- breakfast and lunch. Omelettes are great- although they should be being an omelette shoppe. I had one recently though where the inside was a bit on the runny side. Service is sometimes very slow. We went to the register to pay and we were told to wait at our table and the waitress would get the bill for us. We went back to the table and sat down... we were there for an extra 15 minutes when we could of been out the door. I gave an extra star for them having canned Corned beef hash. You can't find a place in Norther MI that doesn't have homemade corned beef hash.

Second morning in a row at this excellent eatery - great pastries, yum coffee (too bad they don't have half and half) and some innovative egg dishes, including my chorizo and jalapeño-packed egg scramble. Yum!

Last year I would have given it a 5; went almost every day of my vacation. This year I was disappointed. The place was packed as usual. The omelette tasted like they used frozen veggies and then mixed them into eggs. The pancake was nothing special too and I have no desire to return.
