Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great find! Beautiful ambiance, friendly service and delicious meals. I got the roasted gnocchi and my husband got the prime rib, both meals were outstanding! Worth the stop.

Very nice atmosphere and food. Great staff! I will be returning on my next trip North.

We held the rehearsal dinner for my son and his new bride in a special room at Tosi's. The event was wonderful. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner so that our group of 55 could eat all at once. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
(5)Jess G.
Love see this place. I crave their Gnocchi atleast once a month and just have to have it. It's worth the hour drive.
(5)James C.
One of the best meals my wife and I have had in a long, long time. Everything was prepared wonderfully. The minestrone soup was unusual in texture, but was almost worth the trip in itself. My wife had goat cheese chicken and I had Sicilian spaghetti. Both dishes were simply delicious. This was our first time here, and staff was warm and friendly. We will absolutely be back.
(5)Cheryl C.
Had a new dish last night at one of our favorite local restaurants. Goat cheese chicken with sun dried tomatoes. Uniquely full of flavor light not overbearing. Will definitely order this again! Also their pizzas are outstanding. All made in a wood fired oven. Fresh ingredients that remind you of Italy. Be sure to try either with a glass of Montepulciano!

Was visiting my husband's extended family in Michigan, coming from California. Wonderful evening celebrating my in-laws anniversary. My husband ordered the lasagna. Some of the best we've ever had! I loved all the fresh herbs in it; great flavor. My father-in-law ordered the filet which was also one of the best I've ever tasted. Perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth tender, yummy sauce. My lamb shank was just ok. It was rather tough and some parts were pretty dry, but the flavor was good. I wouldn't order that again. We took advantage of the $14 wine on a Tuesday to share with the table. We ordered four different wonderful desserts to share as well. The budino was probably my fave. Our server was wonderful and made us feel very welcome. She was very on top of things, even with our group of 6 adults and a baby. She even took the baby and walked around playing with her and talking to the staff so we could have a little break. Haha! The family friendly atmosphere was awesome. I love that so many members of the family actually work there together. The restaurant has a beautiful garden and the inside is lovely too. I was impressed with the quality of food and service for such a reasonable price. Maybe I'm just used to California prices. But for 6 people, the bill was just a little over $200. I would have expected twice that! Thank you Tosi. If we find ourselves back there, we will definitely come in again.
(5)Mike L.
There were four of us for dinner and we had a nice meal, with the ability to converse within the sound level. The service was somewhat absent-minded and the server failed to mention some specials that we heard mentioned at another table after we had ordered. Multiple times she forgot to bring things that we asked for. Serving size was good and The taste was also good. We thought the prices were on the high side, especially for this part of Michigan. We probably will not come back.

On par with the best restaurants we have eaten at in Paris, Milan, Munich, and Amsterdam. We are indeed lucky to have it in our own back yard! Never disappoints. Always a wonderful evening.
(5)Dana C.
Great Restaurant. This is a gem. Pizza's, Italian dishes, steaks, etc. Something for everyone. The Gnocchi is very good in the wood fire pizza oven. Fresh ingredients that remind you of Italy. Worth the stop. Grillin the Garden on Thursday is very unique for the area. Our waitress was very attentive and knew the menu and wine list well.

We were welcomed by smiles as we entered. This dim lit restaurant really cozies you up for a meal. We were served an assortment of breads with oil. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. I found it pretty heavy and had a lot of left overs but it was still pretty good. It's extremely creamy if you like that. My husband got the gnocchi which is thoroughly enjoyed. They were soft and flavorful according to him. They messed up the order in the first try by adding chicken. Due to religious restrictions we had to send it back but another one was whipped up for him promptly. I feel like the food is good but a tiny bit overpriced. But all in all the service makes up for it.

I just would like to tell you a story about this place. It the service is absolutely terrible. My husband is a nurse and took my card to work with him. So when I went to place my order I could not give them a card number. Explained that my husband would call him in a couple of minutes. However he said my money was no good and not to waste his time. Are you kidding me!!!! 15 minutes would not of hurt anyone. Also he called me uneducated and that my money wasn't worth his time. We order consently from him. He did not even give common curtesy to a customer that was well known to him. He said my money would be good at Brooklyn pizza. Well as you know it I called and it was.
(2)Chris B.
Outstanding food but they went with "preferred seating" instead of reservations for New Year's Eve. Which means you show up on time & get told there's a 90-minute wait. Not cool; went elsewhere. If I think about coming back for another holiday, I'll be sure to plan showing up an hour earlier than I want my time slot. And that don't seem right.

Found this gem on yelp and will definitely come back here again when in MI. For starters the atmosphere is wonderful, new/updated, clean, cozy and nostalgic. You get a sense of its history without being dated or irrelevant. Bathrooms were immaculate and attractive. You could even brush up on your Italian while using the bathroom.... Piped in recordings of travelers Italian... Quite funny actually. I even loved the hand lotion provided. We were seated immediately at 6pm no waiting. Did I mention valet parking? Our server was helpful with suggestions and even humorous. She was professional and knowledgeable but not pompous. The manager (I assumed) in sport coat was awesome. Assisting wait staff, seating people, clearing dishes and checking up on guests. He was funny and engaging without that awkwardness of standing and talking too long while your trying to eat. Service was prompt by not rushed and the food!!!! Amazing!!! We had heirloom tomato antipasti, bread and dipping oil, steak Oscar and Lasagna with drinks and a lovely tea cup sized decadent dessert. Our dinner was just shy of $100. The moscato was one of the best I have tasted and will seek it out to purchase. Overall a lovely and delicious experience with which I can find no flaws.

After hearing about Tosi for a couple of years we decided to venture into Stevensville for dinner on a windy and cold Saturday evening. The atmosphere is very authentic - tuscan-esque with a festive vibe. We arrived early as they don't take reservations but we called ahead for preferred seating (great idea) and waited about 5-10 minutes before we were escorted to our table. We were seated in a room off the outdoor patio with a large pizza oven. There is alot to take in with murals on the wall and grapes and lights overhead. The patio looks amazing with a screened in area and lush lawn. We ordered wine and cocktails from our friendly and efficient server. The menu is traditional Italian and they had a variety of specials. I tried the Rigatoni with Vodka sauce that also came with a variety of vegetables in it which was a nice touch. Aside from the fact that it was only room temperature, it was really tasty. The other guests had a fish entree, meatballs and another pasta and they thoroughly enjoyed everything. I am so glad we finally made it to Tosi and we're looking forward to another visit during the warm weather so we can sit outside.

My dinner was fabulous ! I had the Crab Meat Cannelloni, but asked to add the marinara sauce on top of the creamy Bechamel sauce that its served with. Yum!! The decor was lovely as well! My hub & I really enjoyed our visit there!!! I highly recommend it!

I understand that it's a busy night, but having to wait 1-2 hours AFTER your reservation time for a table is unacceptable. We WON'T be back: there are lots of other places in the area that offer combinations of good food AND good management.
(1)Edson B.
Excellent gnochi. The service is fast. The place looks really great. They have different areas, a bar, dinner area, other close to pizza oven.

I seriously cannot believe the number of positive reviews on here. Short story: I would never go back here again. Long story: My husband called a week and a half ago to request a reservation for our wedding anniversary. The hostess said that they did not take reservations, but we would be on a "preferred seating list" and explained that this is not a reservation but that once we checked in, we would have expedited seating. So we arrived at 6:45 for our 7:00 non-reservation. These two old Bettys at the hostess stand told us the wait would be about 30 minutes, which seemed fine since our goal was to finish dinner in time to see the sun set over the lake. We were directed out to the "garden" (it has astro-turf) where we ordered drinks and began our wait. And we waited, and waited. This restaurant has several tacky practices, one of which is to hand out little numbers that they shout out to tell you the table is ready. When we heard the number before ours get called, we had already been waiting about 45 minutes, so we finished up our drinks and figured we would be next. Well, no. Our number was skipped and they started called numbers AFTER ours. Ok. So the husband returns to the Bettys who refute that this happened. Really? We saw and heard you, so they probably should have just apologized, but whatever. We continued to wait, and I was getting pretty annoyed by this point. They called more numbers that were later than ours. I asked the waitress if we were missing something. She apologized and said we should not have been skipped, there must be a mistake, and said she'd talk to the hostess. More numbers continued to be called. We asked the waitress again, who said she'd talk to the manager. Once our number was finally called, we had been waiting about an hour and a half, and there was no way we were going to catch the sunset. I tried to convince my husband that we should leave, but he had seen so many good reviews of the food that he assured me the food would be worth this long wait. Betty #1 sat us in this room with plastic grapes hanging from the ceiling. There was a black-light painting on the wall, which said more "cosmic bowling" than "fine dining" to me. Betty said our long wait was worth it for this great table... next to the door of the kitchen. Yep, it's great to be in the highest traffic area of the restaurant! Now that our wait was over, I was seriously hungry. Our waitress was very sweet and that's why I bumped the review from one star to two. She was attentive and knew the menu well. We ordered spaghetti with a tomato sauce and various meats - salami, sausage, etc. and the chicken gnocchi. The gnocchi said it was in a tomato and cream sauce, which was 95% cream and a few red tomato flecks. Nothing impressive. I've eaten much better Italian food at dozens of restaurants and never had to wait for so long to do it. The other plus side to our meal was the kind couple sitting next to us. It was their anniversary, too. They felt bad that our evening was ruined and bought us dessert. We had the creme brulee, which pretty good. Thanks, lovely couple. You are much classier than the rest of this place. One more note: we saw the manager walk by several times. He stopped in at a number of tables, but seemed to be intentionally ignoring us. I tried to make eye contact on a few occasions. My guess is he knew I would complain, so he decided not to stop at the table at all. Pretty unprofessional, but again, that seems to be how this whole place rolls.

This place is good for an anniversary or a special celebration. The staff is friendly and the food is good... It is pricing but the food was much better than grande mere inn... I would dress up for a date night here... No jeans...

My brothers' wedding rehearsal dinner was recently held at Tosi's. It has such a great ambience about it and everyone there enjoyed the food, drinks, and service.

After trying Tosi's once, every time I come home, I crave it dearly. Yesterday, I had the best gnocchi dish ever, with the rich cream, tomato, and ricotta sauce simply embracing the pasta, sharing the right balance of all its talents. The drunken chicken, wrapped in prosciutto, just soaked in marsala and spices, was completely embedded in flavor. Even the spinach salad tossed in pinenuts and craisins, was so fresh and the sauce so perfect in flavor that I simply engulfed the entire plate. So authentic. Such good cooking from the heart. Of course, prices ain't cheap: a single dish averages $23. Translate that to New York prices, and you've got an average of $30 a dish. But for my favorite Italian restaurant ever? That's a small price to pay.
(5)Leah P.
Upon walking in, we were greeted with, "Oh my god! I thought Jake Gylenhall just walked in!" *Eye Roll* Don't give my husband a bigger ego than he already has, please! I can honestly say, though, that we got the star treatment when it came to service. And the food was even better! Our server was exceptionally nice, prompt and always made sure our glasses were full. I had their house specialty spinach rolls and my husband had their seafood pasta. We were eating off each others plates all night because both were so delicious! And let's not forget about the clam chowder. It was phenomenal. Super thick and flavorful. Just the way clam chowder should be! All in all, a great experience. Although it's a bit pricey, you absolutely get what you pay for at Tosi's.
(5)Chris B.
I have heard that this was a neighborhood staple so I decided to give it a try. While the restaurant looked enticing , the food was not. The cuisine seemed more like Americanized Italian food rather than authentic Italian. The service was friendly but could show a greater need for urgency. Maybe they just had an off night.

For some reason, I just love the vibe of a Midwest or North Woods Supper Club, that longstanding place in a small town where everyone goes for big celebrations, or Easter brunch with mom, or for a family birthday, I had heard quite a bit about Tosi's being such a place before my first visit with a couple friends a few weeks back. We were staying in Harbor Country and Tosi's was only a 20-minute drive up the Red Arrow highway. So we checked it out. At first, when we saw all the cars in the lot, and everyone all gussied up, that we may have been under-dressed in our shorts and summer shirts. But these were attendees of some celebratory function, and to our relief, there were other dressed like us there. After walking through a truly attractive outdoor garden area, and approaching the hostess, we were ushered immediately into the bar area, where there is dinner seating, and tucked into a cozy corner. The bar area (which was the original resort building prior to its becoming a restaurant,) is beautifully preserved in its knotty pine charm with warm lighting and bustling camaraderie. I really did not see other areas of the restaurant, but suffice to say, the place is HUGE. Big fish in the small St. Joe pond. The menu was fairly extensive, highlighting the rural steakhouse and Italian items. Surprisingly, there were not too many pastas on the menu, and one could not find a standard issue dish such as Linguni with clam sauce, which was what one of us was hoping to order. We took advantage of a daily special of a bottle of local wine for $12.00, It was a Michigan Pinot Grigio, and was acceptable, if a bit on the sweet side. As is the case with most Michigan local wines. We started with fried calamari, which was just OK. A bit dry and anemic in portion, too. Seemed as if it may have been frozen vs, fresh. I had a daily special of a lasagna which had squash or other blossoms baked into it. It really was delicious, and I was happy with their red sauce and the sauce to pasta to cheese distribution. In other words, it was not a gloppy lasagna. It was tight. My friend Doug got grilled shrimps on a skewer which he decided was probably not the best choice there. And Ianni got a dish he was lukewarm about, too. Prices are on the higher side for Italian and steaks, but what one would expect in a local fancy-schmancy supper club. Service was sufficiently gracious and the food and drinks arrived on a timely basis. Somewhere on the menu was a reference to a review in Time magazine, circa 1965, which listed Tosi's as a place to travel a long distance to dine in. Well, just as there are many other things from 1965 that you would not necessarily do now (like smoking up a storm indoors or driving sans seat belt,) I don't think you would make this a reason for a road trip. But if you find yourself in the area, by all means, pay Tosi's a visit.

3 stars means "A-OK" on the yelp rating scale. Food is 4 stars, atmosphere and service is 2 stars. Been going here since the early 90s, when Tosi's had a nice, quietly quaint ambience "way back when." It has changed hands since. Today's atmosphere is louder and carries a hint of snobbery. It strikes us as too similar to being in Chicago or at a yacht club, and no longer feels like a special get away. The place is flourishing and that's lovely, but I miss the old, familiar, laid-back feel it once had. They do remember and cater to their regulars; there are some elderly regulars I've enjoyed seeing treated like royalty. The food is still good, but it's just not as enjoyable a place to be now. Waits can seem rather long to receive your order, and if a number of people order different items, they may not all arrive hot or at the same time. Our last server was nice, but missed the timing or delivery of a few things. We enjoy high quality food, but we didn't enjoy our last visit enough to revisit Tosi's more than once every couple of years. Outside the restaurant, there were things I don't like seeing. Their large parking lot runs adjacent to the establishment, but they now have a PROMINENT valet service, even on a week night, which seemed odd. We never use a valet, and hadn't noticed Tosi's running it on week nights in the past. But here's what nettled me -- The handicap parking spaces are not located near the entry, but in a somewhat distant section of the parking lot within the valet's parking lot. Why are those spaces not nearer the entry, and why are they within the valet's lot? That violates the spirit of providing handicap parking. And many of those eligible for handicap parking DO NOT wish to use Valet parking, preferring to do things on their own and in their own time. We were in a vehicle with someone who had a handicap placard, but did not wish to valet park, so parked the car in a designated handicap parking space without using the valet service. When we came out, we noticed one of the car model logo letters along the trunk lid had been snapped off. The car had just been detailed two days earlier; that logo was intact afterwards and the car had been garage parked at all times. We suspect it was maliciously done by a young man who works parking cars outside a busy restaurant for a low wage plus tips. He made a real impression.

Once again Tosi's has allowed us to enjoy a nice evening out. We love the bar area and had a couple of wines there first. Then into the dinning room, where there are always special occasions being celebrated. Bustling with locals, multi generational tables, and summer home Chicagoans filling out the crowd. We enjoyed the stuffed artichokes, the cesar salad, followed up with the malfatta, and the short rib rissotto. All was great, we will be back...
(4)Angela B.
Tosi's is a solid little Italian spot in St. Joe. The menu is a bit stale as far as modern twists go but it's everything you want if you are looking for classic Italian comfort food. Creamy, gooey, tasty goodness. Freshly prepared and made well. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. They do valet so parking is not a problem, or you can park yourself. The bar is solid, good simple cocktails made well. Well decorated and an enjoyable spot to eat.

We came here for the first time tonight and couldn't believe how bad our experience was. We called ahead because they do not take reservations but supposedly have a call ahead list. When we got there they told us it would be a 45 minute wait which considering the crowd on a Saturday night we were able to overlook. We decided to have a few drinks while we waited and because we were a group the time passed fairly quickly. After we sat down we waited quite a while before our waitress came to check on us and take our orders. We shrugged it off as being fairly busy. So our apps came and let me just say eh. So so at best. The "famous" zucchini blossoms tasted like oil. So much batter and so oily. The bruschetta was so overwhelmingly garlicky that I couldn't taste anything else. 45 minutes later nothing else had happened. No one checked on us (other than the water boys) and no food had come out. We asked the waitress (we had to flag her down as she was walking by our table ignoring us) about our salads and she said they came with the meal (we also had to ask her for refills of our drinks then as well). 20 minutes later the salads came out by themselves. 1 hour 20 minutes after being seated we finally go check with the manager as we still didn't have food and he very snarkily said I just checked with the kitchen and told them to get food out. No apology or anything. Finally about 20 minutes later our food comes out and our waitress has no explanation. The food WAS good, especially the gnocchi and chicken cordon bleu. We ate and again had to flag the waitress down to get her to give us the bill. When we had our leftovers wrapped in our boxes the manager came back to our table and thanked us for our patience and tried to tell us the delay was due to a large triathlon that would be taking place the next day. We looked around and had no doubt this was not the case. He then proceeded to take a sharpie out and write the date and Tosi's on our leftover boxes??? Then our bills came out and we waited another 30 minutes for anyone to take them away and don't even ask how long it took for change. This was an AWFUL experience. I would not ever give them another dime of my money/time. We saw our waitress a handful of times and she was neither friendly nor helpful nor attentive. The manager was rude and condescending. The atmosphere was so so and the whole experience was a disappointment. Even the food wasn't enough to save it. If you really MUST try this place, please please get it to go and enjoy it at home. Do not expect to have a pleasant meal here.

Had a marvelous meal here last night. Setting is beautiful, friendly staff..food excellent. I had the Chicken Florentine..delicious..the gnocchi was fantastic, the cream sauce excellent..The malfatti was also outstanding. Highly recommend!

I didn't think this place could live up to the reviews, but it did. Started with the spinach salad - it was tossed with honey mustard, pine nuts, dried cranberries and warm goat cheese - very good. For the main course, had the Veal Scaloppine with mushrooms and marsala wine. It was served with housemade fettuccine - probably the best fettucine I've ever had. Wasn't planning on it, but the desserts looked so good, had to try one. I had a homemade custard with a raspberry sauce - it was great without being too heavy. If the food wasn't enough, sat outside by a nice garden.

This is how we were greeted at Tosi. I called ahead to make a reservation. The hostess said she'll take our name down, but it's preferred seating and not a reservation. No problem, I tell her. We arrive a Tosi, proceed to go up to the counter and the hostess didn't even look up to greet us. I say my name, that I have a preferred seating at for 7:30 and she says "you're on the preferred list. it'll take 45 minutes to an hour." Fine. I've been driving past this restaurant for years on vacation wondering what it would be like. I'll wait longer. Fifty minutes later we have a seat near the bar. Not our ideal seat, but we'll take it. Then we're greeted by the server with this: "Hi. Specials tonight ." Before we could even respond she took off. The staff seemed overwhelmed, although I give credit to the guys who filled the water because they were always around. The decor varies from by room. We were near the bar which had a hunting theme. We think. There were just a lot of animal heads on the wall. It was too dark inside as well. The food was good, but waaaaayyyy overpriced. My finance did not like the presentation of the food at all. Her chicken simply didn't look that appetizing. I had spicy pasta dish that was mildly spicy - not nearly as spicy as touted on the menu. There were still a lot of nice things about Tosi. The bathrooms were nice, and it was cool how the music is actually a Rosetta Stone style tape to teach Italian. The live band was a nice touch. Another plus was the good bread that came with olive oil and cheese. They provided both white bread AND wheat bread. A nice touch. I'm disappointed in Tosi. It's been a staple in SW Michigan for many years, but did not live up to expectations.
(2)L.M. H.
Love Tosi's. Great atmosphere, great service, really good food. Open hearth specialty Pizzas, nice Italian cuisine, good wine list. The bar pours a very good drink. Amen.
(4)Mitsuyo F.
One of my favorite restaurants on the face of this planet!!! I come out to Royalton occasionally on business and this is the one and only thing I look forward to! Tuesday night Tosi's. They have great deals on bottles of wine and specials. The food has NEVER let me down and it's not overpriced. They have healthy options for entrees and are so accommodating. The staff is all very friendly, service is excellent and the ambiance is relaxing. Everything about this place is beautiful. I wish I had a Tosi's near me!
(5)J B.
Like others, I've been coming here for 30 years. It's an old stand-by. Recommendation: amatriciana penne. Hands down the best vegetarian pasta dish this side of Tuscany. Desert: Tiramisu. Also the most authentic--even though the desert itself is a 90's invention. I'd recommend the bar for Sat. night dancing. The guy who plays is awesome. And the outdoor patio is wonderful in summers. Only drawback is the price is a little higher than to be expected for SW Michigan, but that's what you get for quality. Also: go with the minestrone above the salad. They've been doing it 60 years, and the only change that they've made is it's blended.
(4)Anthony M.
Just good Italian food, period. Nice decor, love that they try to teach you Italian in the restroom :) Been there forever, good food all around!
(4)Andrea B.
The food is lackluster. My husband had an awful experience with their fish. I have tried many items, but can't find something I like. The bread and oil is good, but you can have the same bread and oil at the delicious bakery next door, Bit of Swiss. Also, the hosts can be pretentious.
(1)William N.
This place has got to be the best Italian food in SW Michigan. This place only gets better over time. The place has been remodelled with some really nice/sometimes kitschy decor and has a really warm feeling to the place. I've been going here for years and everytime the food is consistently great. They also have a cafe' in downtown St. Joseph that is really good as well. tosis.com If you want great Italian food, this is the place. Check out the Bit of Swiss bakery adjacent to the restaurant. It's also outstanding.
(5)P L.
I'm a local resident of SW Michigan and I eat at Tosi's occasionally for special events or for client entertainment. I've been there three times in the past month, and I'm not impressed. The food is okay. The swordfish and brie appetizers are the only reason I would ever go back. The entrees - not so much. For $20, a small square of lasagna? The sauce doesn't even taste homemade! Also, they serve ahi tuna with a brown gravy over it - something you'd expect to see on Salisbury steak. It was awful. Low grade tuna too. The worst part about Tosi's? The service. It's actually appalling. Be prepared to take at least 2 hours to have dinner. The staff is the most unfriendly I've ever seen. And when I have to keep asking for beverage refills and for them to take the stack of empty plates off my table, I'm basically doing their job for them. I don't mind that kind of service in a place like Steak & Shake, but for a classy, upscale restaurant, it's downright ridiculous.
(1)Zehr S.
driving to this restaurant was kind of fun, tree lined little country road, it was hidden in a residential area food i ordered was good, not amazingly good though (to match its reputation), nice mural on the wall; good bread, wine overall a nice find in this area, good place to wind down and share some anecdotes, jokes and laughter with your friends while munching/gulping
(4)Mary M.
Tosi's can be great. Go early, not at prime eating time during high season. Sit in the bar, kick back, and order some fried zucchini blossoms. Feeling extravagant? Order a brandy Alexander with ice cream.
(5)A A.
My family has been going here for decades, and it is by far the best Italian food around. The atmosphere is very comfortable and classy. The service is phenomenal. Try the fried ravioli or the coconut shrimp appetizers; try the amatriciana for pasta; try the zabaglione for a dessert. Nice bar area as well.
(5)Jim K.
Tosi's - Classic Italian. Pasta, minestrone soup made fresh daily, ...National recognition for years...casual or formal dining. Great selection on menu and of the best wine cellars in SW Michigan. Service is top-shelf. The bar has stayed the same for years and has that great familiar feel and warmth.

Good place. All food here is delicious. Go here whenever you get the chance, or if you're stuck in southwest Michigan for some reason.

We always loved this place. The food was always excellent with great service. It's more of a Northern Italian with awesome tirumiso. Glad to hear they are still around.

I have not lived in Michican for almost 20 years - yet this is the one place I always want to go to when I head home. Great place, in all ways. They have two dishes I've NEVER seen anyplace else - the Malfati and the Zucchini flowers. I actually buy extra of the Malfati, freeze it, and take it on the plan back with me, I like it so much! If you're in the area and are looking for a upscale place to eat, try this one first.

I wishing for my trips to St. Joesph, MI to be able to visit this place again. I am craving the AMATRICIANA - Penne, tomato, garlic, white wine, parmesan, red pepper flakes. (This dish is spicy hot!.)

Great restaurant. Tosi's could easily compete in my competitive hometown market of Chicago. The calamari is a must. I loved the chicken and spinach gnocchi. The caramel Oreo parfait cup was a perfect desert. 4 stars for food and service, and valet parking, one extra for being the best in the area.

omg...I have died and found heaven in Michigan ( dont tell my scarlet and grey brethren) ..Excellent pour ( try the house red..availiable for carry out as well) , FANTASTIC dishes, and I have never had bad service - course Im in during the weekdays,..,sounds like the weekends are a lil hectic. My favs? Veggie Lasagna, and the fish is FRESH ( I had the sea bass last time) - look forward to visiting my customers in the area just to eat here...seriously. Give them a try.

We had a family of 8 dining night at Tosi's. The service once again was top notch, they servers were checking on us regularly. I had the Veal Parmesan it was just enough food and you could tell it was made from scratch, with passion. It was a very clean and from the moment you walked in the door you knew you were going to get a top notch dining experience. I think everyone in our group loved their food and drinks. It is a little pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for and I feel they use top notch products. I am sure you could go there in casual clothes, but it is worth getting at least a little dressed up for Tosi's.

Wow, how things do change over time. My wife and I had been enjoying Tosi's for years after discovering the spot several years ago for our anniversary as we were vacationing in the SW Michigan shore. The decor is definitely over the top and would be considered by many to be "tacky," but it definitely is an intriguing place. If you've ever been to "Italian Village" in Chicago, you get the idea. Anyway, we've returned over the years with friends in tow and have enjoyed solid, but not very inspired meals. After all, this is the Italian-American answer to a Northwoods Wisconsin supper club and as far as I'm concerned, I'm there for the vibe and classics not necessarily for particularly inventive menu options. You go there expecting decent renditions of Italian mom-n-pop standards like those you typically find all over your average metro area. So, after several visits over several years and after introducing friends to Tosi's, my wife and I arrive this weekend with another couple who had never experienced the restaurant. We hadn't planned on dining here tonight, but were all more than willing to wait in the bar (the best part of the restaurant in my opinion), so we arrived and were promptly told 45 minutes. No problem. We ordered a cocktail in the bar and were called in 25 minutes or so. We were seated in a cozy corner near the wood-fired pizza prep area which made for good people-watching while we waited for our food. Unfortunately, the kid who was making pizzas looked about as interested as a GM assembly line worker at 4:59pm. The droopy pants look didn't go so well with the chef's attire either. Our seemingly veteran server allowed us to review the menu and wine list for ten minutes or so before arriving with a Specials card. No problem, I guess. She then informed us that she'd be "tag-teaming" with another server who was a dead ringer for the proverbial "deer in headlights". We assume it was her first night on the job. We forged on with our wine selection which was promptly retrieved and set on an adjacent table. We watched the bottle for close to 15 minutes before the senior server returned, noticed the bottle, and brought it to me with a snarky "You didn't want to drink this, did ya?" I tried my best to appreciate this woman's sense of humor and chuckled as I explained that we'd been staring at it longingly for quite some time. Alas, wine was poured and we ordered our entrees. (30-45 minutes pass) Veteran server returns and says, "Well, it's going to be a few more minutes, so is there anything I can get you?" We decide that we're fine as our water is being refreshed on schedule and everyone's had their fill of bread. (15 minutes pass) "Your order's on since I noticed your table is crossed off." Umm, translation please? We ask what exactly that means to a non-Tosi's staffer. "That means they're preparing your food now." Oh, so 15 minutes ago when it was "going to be a few more minutes", you really meant that the kitchen hadn't even acknowledged our 45-minute old order yet? "Is there anything I can get you?" Nope, just our entrees please. Another 10-15 minutes passes and our food is meekly delivered by Ms. "Deer in Headlights". Everyone's food looks fine with no obvious signs of reheating or exposure to too much time under the heat lamp. We dig in and my wife soon notices that her gnocchi with chicken added contains a grand total of two thumbnail-sized chunks of breast meat. We carry on as the servers are tending to other tables and don't return until we're nearly finished (no "how is everything" visit as you would expect even from your local TGIFriday's). When the veteran returned to inquire about wrapping up our remains while delivering our check (aka facilitate our vacating of the table). I mentioned the lack of chicken in my wife's entree and asked that the upcharge not be included on the bill. She walked away briskly and said that she'd see about adjusting the bill. She returned with the entree removed from our bill, but lectured "In the future, let us know that there's a problem earlier in the meal." Would've been great advice if I had arrived equipped with a couple flares or those jobbies the airport guys use to guide my plane to the gate. Oh, and we figured correcting the order would have added at least 30 minutes to the already 90-minute long ordeal, so we all agreed to cut our losses and depart ASAP. Not very ashamed to say that we tipped around 8-10%, which is as small a tip as I can remember leaving, but this was a consensus among the four of us. So, a real dud of an experience and certainly a black eye on a place we had previously enjoyed. We were quite disappointed and very nearly asked to speak with management before our departure. I feel bad for those in the area who might not have any close alternatives to Tosi's, but I'm sure they're out there. Tosi's will continue to thrive on tourists and the old money blue hairs so they don't need my business. Cool bar, though.

A nice restaurant and quality food, but at what price? I'll tell you, between $20-40/entree! So Tosi's has been around forever and is likely one of the better places to eat if you find yourself in the southwestern corner of Michigan. A well decorated restaurant with a bar for more casual dining this establishment has some great history offering a nice dining environment for a greatly rural area. The menu provides a nice selection of different dishes and the staff is friendly and attentive. I was surprised to find the menu pricing to be about on par with gourmet restaurants I've found in major cities and despite the food being good I was not impressed. I ordered a ribeye steak served with garlic mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and snap peas. The steak was cooked as I ordered however I felt the whole dish could have used a bit more seasoning. As I reached for the salt and pepper I noticed the dining room was populated with about 90% senior citizens. So maybe the dishes are under seasoned due to the patrons? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The snap peas were the seasonal vegetable as many of my company had them accompanying their dishes. The snap peas were cooked very well however the string in the spine of the pea pod was not removed forcing many people at the table to pull these half masticated strings from their mouths. I was truly disappointed that I'd rather pass on eating these delicious vegetable (with the addition of a dash of table salt) rather than pull half chewed food from my mouth at the dinner table. By the end of my main course I notice a certain pain in my lower back, by which I realized the chair I was sitting in was less comfortable than sitting through an early morning sermon at church. Given the seating and the patrons that this restaurant may very well be promoting quite a lucrative business for any local chiropractor. By the end of our hour meal I was ready to kneel at the table rather than sit another minute in my chair. So all in all, Tosi's is a decent restaurant with excellent staff and conservatively seasoned food at an above average price. If the price is a bother (as it certainly bothered me) they've adopted a "Stimulus Plan Menu" which offers half portions for half prices. I honestly found the "cheap menu" to be tacky. Why not just adjust your pricing to stay in business? I will say the smaller portions did seem perfect for my grandmother who is bordering 90 years of age and satisfied her small appetite quite well, however I certainly found the 4oz sirloin steak to resemble an appetizer more so than an entree. Tosi's may be impressive for the locals, but I'd rather enjoy the cooking at the far more casual Red Arrow Roadhouse any day of the week. I would recommend the Minestrone soup (especially on a cold fall or winter evening) and the Spumoni ice cream for dessert if you're looking to cool off.

Loved the ambiance of Tosi's. When dinner opens at 5:30, people with reservations and without are lined up. It is well worth the drive from other locations for excellent Italian food. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. We sat next to a fireplace. We had great service from a friendly waitress. She filled our little bread plates with olive oil and grated fresh Parmesan on it for dipping our freshly baked crusty breads in it. The house salad was delicious with homemade Italian dressing. I ordered the Malfatti (Spinach rolls layered with our housemade meat ragu, béchamel and mushrooms, baked.) Our friends were vegetarians and they gladly made adjustments to their pasta's to make them meatless. Others ordered pizza and gnocchi. I thought the atmosphere really added to the whole experience. I wish it was not 2 hours away.

My husband and I were excited to have dinner at Tosi's last night. It was recommended by a couple of hotels we stayed at in the area last year and this year so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Feels like you walk into a restaurant in the heart of Italy. We called ahead and were placed on a preferred seating list. When we walked in we were told it would be about 45 minutes. We stepped into the bar area and my husband ordered the house wine, which we were told was "great". He found it to be heavy in tannins and very oakie. He didn't drink it. He then ordered a Pinot noir which was just ok. Surprising, the red and white wines are served in the same size glass. The bartender was very unfriendly. Our waitress was ok and our bus boy was awesome....Friendly and funny!!!! Our waitress neglected to tell us about the Friday evening specials. Dinner....I had the eggplant pie which I enjoyed. My husband the chicken cordon blue which was ok. However the noodles were quite bland and reminded him of a Kraft boxed fettuccini. For the price, ehhhhhh. Wouldn't recommend it.. We got the bill and everything went downhill from there. We were overcharged $30.00 and couldnt get the waitress back. Finally the manager walked by and we told him our dilemma. He had picked up my to go box and started writing on the top of it, very smug and condescending. He took our bill and when he came back made light of the fact that we were overcharged stating "we all make mistakes".... Here's your corrected bill. When we left my husband was asked by an older woman at the desk if we enjoyed the dinner. When he explained our experience she looked disinterested with an "oh well.." type attitude. Bottom line, the very high prices and our experience, we will probably never go back...May have been a destination way back when, but not today.

I've been going to Tosi's since I was a child and I still love it, it is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Newcomers and old regulars alike always rave about the consistently wonderful food and phenomenal service. The menu is fantastic, along with a few specials nightly. I love their fillet, lamb chops and the malfatti. It is delicious and always an old standby. Mid-late summer you MUST order the zucchini blossoms. Lightly fried and to die for. Delish complimentary breads before you eat are made at Bit of Swiss next door, desserts are always impressive too. The manager, Dan, always has great wine suggestions and is very personable, always remembers us. Outdoor patio with a glass of wine waiting to eat in the summer = fantastic. The bar inside has a nostailgic atmosphere and still has many touches from the '50's. It is pricey but worth it - you will not be let down. And you can't rag on the complimentary valet parking. The place does get packed on weekend/summer nights and it's a nice treat.
(5)A K.
It's a great place all be it a bit overpriced for this area... and valet parking? here? many people have hard time figuring out what that is around here.. but I'm sure there are plenty of people that appreciate it.. anyways.. nice place for special events.... and good Italian food.. nice atmosphere..... they have a nice little bar area and a nice garden...

I have been here twice for this great special they have: $10 if you come in before 6 (you should check the details...because I am not positive of the stipulations). You get a salad, dinner, and dessert. I am not a fan of the eggplant manicotti (way too much cheese!) but the steak with gorgonzola is delicious.
(4)L. R.
I really love Tosi's but I was just there last night and I think it's gone downhill a little bit. I ordered the pasta gambretti (angel hair and shrimp in a cream sauce) and I wasn't impressed with what I got. I've had some great meals here though. Their Sangiovese wine is wonderful, desserts, as always are great and come from next door at Bit of Swiss. I will go again though but get something different.

Really wanted to like this place. It's a really cute and cozy place. We were encouraged by the full parking lot on a Monday and good reviews on yelp. Sadly my party of 6 were very underwhelmed. I didn't enjoy my me at all, which was mushroom lasagna. It was a lasagne made with an Alfredo type sauce. I don't like Alfredo at all. This should have come with a warning because I never expected lasagna to have Alfredo. The worst part though was the it took over 2 hours for dinner from start to finish. I'm all for a slower leisurely dining experience but this was just too long. Service was slow. I just wanted to leave by the time our entrees came. Couldn't sit still any longer. I did really enjoy my desert, it was a pecan brownie pie type thing. Excellent. We're not from Michigan but are in the area every couple months. I don't think we'd be likely to try Tosis again.

Place rocks. Packed for a Saturday night. Valet available. Busy but ambiance was comfy and you weren't screaming to your sig other. I found a pic of their Fettucine Alfredo and that is all I wanted. Not on the menu as an entree but asked for it as is for my meal - not a problem. My sweetheart had the pizza Mediterranean or veggie - cant recall - so sorry but we sat at the actual pizza bar watching the chef work his magic. Just a fab experience. One glass of wine for me a beer for him. Dinner was roughly $50 though keep in mind we had almost appetizers as picks. Loved it. Service was great. Please make it a stop along your way. You will love it.
(5)Scott T.
We had a dinner here on a Friday night. The crowd was a bit older, but it is a beautiful restaurant. We had the arugula salad and then I had the shrimp kebab and my wife had the crab legs. The food was very good. We will be back.

This was a bit off the beaten path but wow what a place. From Ishmael ( the host ) who in between seating customers would chat with customers and fill water glasses. Our waitress Shimen was knowledgable and friendly. Now for the food the lasagna was perfect the seafood and linguine was loaded with scallops shrimp and 1/2 a lobster tail. The evening could not be more perfect thank you Tosi's

Five of us had dinner here last night and we were very happy with the food and service. Our waitress was great! The food was good. The coffee is the best! Very much recommend this restaurant while visiting St Joe.

2 of us had a great meal last night. She, Salmon in parchment. Me, grilled fish of the day. Loads of grilled vegetables with mine plus a littlle italian pasta on the side. Salad or soup part of the deal. We both chose the salad because I bought a pint of the Ministrone to go. Seated after about 15 mins and near fireplace. Very friendly server who listened , smiled and was generally a joy. Overall this was a 5 star evening at Tosi's
(5)Robert M.
Extremely disappointed in the service and the management. Enjoyed the food but that is the only positive! 6 of us went to dinner this evening for a Mother's Day family dinner. We were seated in a very nice room near the pizza oven. From there things went down hill. Once the server showed up she took our drink order and returned with olive oil for the bread. But then she never brought the bread or our drinks for quite some time. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer and then ordered dinner. One guest ordered the Mac & cheese which was served 10-15 minutes before the rest of us were served the pizzas we ordered. And the 3 pizzas were cooked right in the same room! The waitress blamed the service on a busy kitchen ?! She did comment that she would make this right (which never happened in anyway shape or form). We ordered additional cocktails which again took very long to be brought to the table. The waitress told us that Miss Elie who was 89 ...was bartending !!!! The service overall was very slow as we watched other tables arrive, order, eat dinner and leave. I felt the need to express to our server how we were all disappointed and dissatisfied with our dining experience. She cleared the table and brought us the bill. I then commented that she never even asked if we were interested in coffee or dessert - before handing us the bill. As I was complaining about the poor service, according to the other 5 guests, the manager stood behind me and flicked a lighter on and off over MY HEAD. Rude - ignorant - unprofessional - etc. He then walked away to speak with another table without ever inquiring about our service or trying to correct our horrible dining experience. Everyone at our table was over 55 and we have never experienced such poor service and lack of caring from the management of a well established restaurant. As I said, from beginning to end the evening went down hill. Even when the server apologized ..she wouldn't stop talking and apologizing as she circled he table twice. I asked her repeatedly to please stop - Indicting that we wanted to her to just go away! It was a very unfortunate evening for my 82 year old mother who just wanted a nice evening with her family. THUMBS DOWN.

I'm going to need a lot more stars to give this restaurant a fair review. The short version: Delicious, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, service beyond the call of duty. Based on Yelp reviews I made a reservation for six friends and myself at 7:30 on a Saturday night, to follow a day of wine tasting around St. Joseph. I forgot what time I made the reservation for, so we arrived over 30 minutes early. The hostess checked us in and showed us to the beautiful garden and enclosed porch where we could have drinks while we waited. A short 5-10 minutes later our table was ready. The bacon wrapped sea scallops (appetizer) were large, tender, perfectly prepared and ridiculously delicious. Our group ordered a variety of entrees and we were all blown away by the flavors. I had the Tournedos, which is two 4-oz filets with brandy herb butter, and cannot stop thinking about that dish. Two people in our party ordered the Seafood Arrabbiata and raved about it as well. We also ordered two bottles of wine with dinner, and after tax and tip our total came out to less than $60pp which we thought was very reasonable for a top quality meal and outstanding service. Speaking of which... From start to finish the service and atmosphere at Tosi's were excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere classy but unpretentious, and when we asked for someone to call a taxi for us after dinner, the owner personally arranged a ride back to hour hotel for us, as we were just staying around the corner. Living in a great food city like Chicago, it is rare I find a restaurant truly impressive, but I can't say enough about how much my friends and I loved Tosi's. Service and quality seem to be lost on most businesses these days, but Tosi's gets it.

My current address confuses a lot of people, but I'm from small town Michigan. And as much as I appreciate an incredibly creative meal, I love tasty, reasonably priced, food that doesn't pretend that it's auditioning for a spot at the MoMA. I was here twice over the past week because I'm in town for work. The pluses? The service is terrific. Tonight, in particular, my waitress was just awesome. But... (1) The wait for our food was ridiculous. There were two of us, and we ordered a couple of mains, my buddy got a soup, I got a salad. We sat for nearly an hour between ordering and our main course. That was brutal. (2) We were at a table for two positioned under some kind of strange statue that extended into the room. Hey, everyone has their own taste in artwork. But this statue took up some of my personal space. Not amazing, distracting, and uncomfortable. (3) My food last week was very good. My buddy said he liked his food tonight. My food tonight was *awful*. In hindsight, no, I should not have ordered the steak here, since they don't do a ton of beef. But, still. It was so tough it was almost impossible to cut and the fat wasn't awesome and melted, but an obstacle to try and chainsaw around. The worst part, though, was the sauce. Allegedly peppercorn, it was weirdly sweet and completely wrecked the dish. (4) I wasn't feeling like cake for dessert, so I asked about fruit. No fruit (weird omission for Michigan in June, but maybe people just don't go for it here). My next move was to go for a bit of cheese. They brought me, no kidding, almost a pound of cheese cubes. This doesn't cost them a star or anything (if anything, it was super nice of them), but ... The bottom line is that if you really aren't in any hurry (and lots of vacation folks here who wouldn't be), it's worth a shot if you stay far, far, far away from the beef. But this place could be so much better than it is and has more than a vague "ten years ago it was really special" feel to it. Very disappointing.

Well you just can't beat Tosi's!!! I grew up in the area and have been eating there since my mom dressed me in that JCPenney navy blue blazer and clip on tie and the place continues to be a standout supper club type atmosphere hitting on all cylinders. I drive down from grand rapids and Dine at Tosi's as many times each summer as I can work it in. It's wonderful for a festive family meal or celebration, a romantic night out, or just a fun night with good friends. Most Saturday and Sunday nights have live entertainment in the bar area and thankfully it's not obnoxiously loud or intrusive where you hope to get as far away from the amplifiers as you can... Like so many other things at Tosi's they've got it just right. The bar area is wonderful and many nights I wouldn't mind spending the whole night there as it has the same classic atmosphere as when I used to wear that clip on tie. Established and comfortable. Their house bar mix for snacking before your dinner is really fantastic and worthy of a couple of bags to take home. Service is always fairly strong with a few minor glitches here and there given how busy they typically are on weekends. This last weekend sherry was great. I'm sure weeknights are much less hectic. Food is always good with nightly specials and a very good menu. I typically get a veal dish because you can't find that everywhere and also enjoy the zucchini blossoms when they're in season. I was disappointed this last weekend as they've changed their Caprese salad and I like the old way better. Dan and his team do a great job and are to be commended. If you're looking for a fun meal with family or friends I would strongly recommend tosi's. To put things in perspective I drive 100 miles to have dinner there.

My friend from Michigan told me that she had the best bread.. best Italian pasta at Tosi's... By visiting her during NYE... Of course... I would love to try it!! I love pasta!! :D Since it's NYE... the tables after 6pm were all fully reserved... we decided to make a reservation at 5pm instead... I was surprised that the restaurant was almost full at 5pm.. I thought we were EARLY???!! when there is a line... it's always good.. :P The waiter brought us their award winning bread... My friend and I had 2 baskets of bread... :P hahahah... we just can't stop eating... One thing... The bread was not warm enough for me to enjoy it... I guess they were just too busy during NYE... My friend said that it's usually warm... well.. it's still good.. We ordered spaghetti and Malfatti... spinach roll layered with our housemade meat ragu, béchamel and mushrooms, baked golden... Mmmm... To be honest.. it looks kinda disgusting when they served.. :P but this was probably the best kind of pasta that I ever had.. we had it with spinach salad and minestrone soup... I just can't stop drinking their minestrone soup... Mmm.. it's thick.. creamy.. but you will not feel sick of it.. as for the spinach salad... it's pretty normal to me... but it's fresh... I just took a few bites of the spaghetti.. Perhaps I had too much bread.. so we took it to go at last... the spaghetti was normal... but of course it's good.. finally.. dessert.. telling myself no more dessert... but I HATE THE WAITER!!! He brought us the sample tray of desserts... how can we said NO after looking at the sample... so my friend and I shared Tosi's trio.. the waiter told us it varies during the time... I will not comment much about it since their desserts are from the bakery next door... Didn't get the chance to go to the bakery..

It has been awhile since I've left a dining experience ELATED! Tosi's in Stevensville was exactly what I had been seeking and craving. This was our first visit and everything from the perfectly poured cocktails, beautiful garden, and amazing atmosphere. The friendly and attentive staff, thank you OLIVIA for your service, we appreciated your perfect timing of our courses, and you were outstanding! We started with seasonal Squash Blossoms, that were perfectly battered and fried, not limp and greasy at all and Polenta Fries with the most amazing honey truffle oil. The Clam Chowder had nice tender chunky clams and the Minestrone was un deniable good but a bit different as it was a creamier bean soup.. My Hubby had the Hawaiian Sea Bass Special and I swear I saw his eyes roll in the back of his head and I am a total sucker for a Short Rib Risotto and I was not disappointed at all. Perfecto! We took our time and enjoyed a shared dessert. This will be a must stop for us even if we call ahead and pick up a bite to go. Salute to a job well Tosi's!

I brought my boyfriend to Tosi's for his birthday dinner. It was recommended to me from a friend of a friend that lives in St. Joe's. OH MY GOSH! Great food, great atmosphere, but most of all THE BEST DESSERT EVER!!! I would drive an hour and a half just to get their dessert again. They are supplied by the "Bit of Swiss Bakery" that is conveniently located next door. The dessert that is out of this world was made up of one layer of butterscotch, one layer of carmel and smushed oreo cookies on the bottom. TRUELY HEAVENLY! We even came back the next day to Bit of Swiss just so I could take 4 of those desserts to go for my parents 50th wedding anniversaryI It was a hit! I can't wait to visit both places again!

Don't waste your time or money! We came to Stevensville on vacation rented a lake house - was told by the neighbors to check this place out for a dinner out and to give this cook a night off - well walking in the appearance is clean and kept up. We love round tables so that we are all part of a conversation and we were seated at one in the room up front near the chef cooking in a stone pizza oven. Restaurant isn't loud so its easy to talk and not be competing with music or other tables. Our waitress was nice but it seemed she was rushing and we didn't get prompt service from here, took a long time to get our drink order, appetizer order, and then dinner order taken. It took almost 2 hours total for us to be fed and most of that was waiting on the kitchen. My daughter wanted fettuccine Alfredo which isn't on the menu but she said its easy the chef can do it, GREAT, yet there was no Alfredo on any noodle on the plate it was basically buttered noodles, I ordered braised short ribs with risotto, there was only 1 small piece of meat and 2 dried stringy pieces of meat, basically I got vegetarian risotto, my other daughter got gnocchi with a light tomato sauce and it was basically creamy watered down marinara very under seasoned, the steak my son had was brought out about 15 minutes after everyone else's order and it was under season. I know they aren't known for a steak but you would think thats not a hard thing to cook and its basic cooking 101 to grill a piece of meat. The waitress was attentive when we voiced our unhappiness with our evening. The manager was prompt in comping the items we were unhappy with. Its a good thing b/c the freezer burned Spumoni they brought to rectify the delay in the steak was not making up for anything!

If you like old time Italian restaurant's, where you will be the youngest person there, and everybody knows everybody, then Tosi's is your place. We enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was impeccable, with a sweet waitress, and a gentleman who will become your new friend. As for the food, it is better than you would think from a place like this. We had the eggplant manicotti and the sausage and mushroom pizza. Both were way above average, and also very affordable. Would recommend for romantic dinners, they even have a wine from the Arroyo Grande Valley.

okay call me a food snob, but hey. i do have a food blog and live in chicago - so there. i knew our food options would be limited on this weekend, but people were raving about tosi's so we decided to check it out. we called ahead but when we checked in we had to wait (proms, and apparently this is THE spot on saturday nights). we bellyed up to the bar amongst the locals and had a bottle of the tabor hill tosi special wine. an hour later, we finally got sat. feeling boozy, we ordered the toasted ravioli to start, the famed malfatti, and pollo cordon bleu. and i can't even say that this stuff was mediocre...we were hungry and drunk so we ate. the ravioli was bland, the malfatti was sloppy, and the fettucini served with the chicken was extremely undercooked. service was nice enough, but the poor girl ended up charging us the wrong thing...so we had to deal with that. she was nice about it, but for how much we were paying for this dinner not one person asked us how it was. maybe they knew we weren't locals and we would be judgy. this is a glorified olive garden. end of story. don't waste your money or time. i had low expectations, and they were not even met!

In the area for a short vacation. Went on a Wednesday night and had a very enjoyable meal at Tosi's. Our waitress was very attentive and knew the menu and wine list well. If ever in the area again. We will be back.

Great find! Beautiful ambiance, friendly service and delicious meals. I got the roasted gnocchi and my husband got the prime rib, both meals were outstanding! Worth the stop.

(4)Chris B.

(5)Chuck E.
In the area for a short vacation. Went on a Wednesday night and had a very enjoyable meal at Tosi's. Our waitress was very attentive and knew the menu and wine list well. If ever in the area again. We will be back.

(3)Laura H.
(4)Deb S.
(5)Alan N.
(4)Robert M.

(2)Donald C.

To put things in perspective I drive 100 miles to have dinner there.

omg...I have died and found heaven in Michigan ( dont tell my scarlet and grey brethren) ..Excellent pour ( try the house red..availiable for carry out as well) , FANTASTIC dishes, and I have never had bad service - course Im in during the weekdays,..,sounds like the weekends are a lil hectic.

(5)Scott H.

The food is lackluster. My husband had an awful experience with their fish. I have tried many items, but can't find something I like. The bread and oil is good, but you can have the same bread and oil at the delicious bakery next door, Bit of Swiss. Also, the hosts can be pretentious.

okay call me a food snob, but hey. i do have a food blog and live in chicago - so there. i knew our food options would be limited on this weekend, but people were raving about tosi's so we decided to check it out. we called ahead but when we checked in we had to wait (proms, and apparently this is THE spot on saturday nights). we bellyed up to the bar amongst the locals and had a bottle of the tabor hill tosi special wine. an hour later, we finally got sat. feeling boozy, we ordered the toasted ravioli to start, the famed malfatti, and pollo cordon bleu. and i can't even say that this stuff was mediocre...we were hungry and drunk so we ate. the ravioli was bland, the malfatti was sloppy, and the fettucini served with the chicken was extremely undercooked. service was nice enough, but the poor girl ended up charging us the wrong thing...so we had to deal with that. she was nice about it, but for how much we were paying for this dinner not one person asked us how it was. maybe they knew we weren't locals and we would be judgy. this is a glorified olive garden. end of story. don't waste your money or time. i had low expectations, and they were not even met!

I have heard that this was a neighborhood staple so I decided to give it a try. While the restaurant looked enticing , the food was not. The cuisine seemed more like Americanized Italian food rather than authentic Italian. The service was friendly but could show a greater need for urgency. Maybe they just had an off night.

Had a marvelous meal here last night. Setting is beautiful, friendly staff..food excellent. I had the Chicken Florentine..delicious..the gnocchi was fantastic, the cream sauce excellent..The malfatti was also outstanding. Highly recommend!

Love Tosi's. Great atmosphere, great service, really good food. Open hearth specialty Pizzas, nice Italian cuisine, good wine list. The bar pours a very good drink. Amen.

(4)John N.
Good place. All food here is delicious. Go here whenever you get the chance, or if you're stuck in southwest Michigan for some reason.
(4)Kim J.
We always loved this place. The food was always excellent with great service. It's more of a Northern Italian with awesome tirumiso. Glad to hear they are still around.
(5)Jay T.
(3)Laurie D.

(4)William N.
(5)Kate G.
