This is a tiny diner right in old town Hillsdale. We went for breakfast and it was really good! We ordered the breakfast sandwich, which is a simple dish, but they managed to improve on it from what I can make at home. We also ordered the cinnamon role pancakes. Two was too many. One is huge and SO yummy. Couple of notes, "no outside beverages" is strictly enforced. Also cash only. But it's cheap enough that that might not be a problem. Definitely a must go place. Also, lots of locals eating here, so that's a good sign!

Awful service, ok food and rude staff. Probably a good example of the saying : "you get what you pay for" Cash only - also dumb in 2015

Not impressed at all!!! First, service is awful! No sign saying that a hostess will seat you or to seat yourself. We stood at the door for a good 5 minutes then just assumed we were supposed to find our own table only to be BARKED at by one of the waitresses. There were two or three tables open but I guess they were reserved. So we asked if we could just sit at the counter and were told yes but we can't move to a table once we sat there. Okay. The counter wasn't too bad but it was so low that I had to slouch down and had the waitresses butt in my face several times as she got coffee. Not exactly what I wanted too see while I tried to eat my breakfast. Tried. That's the word. I ordered a full order of biscuits and gravy, my fiancé ordered the steak and cheese omelet. My biscuits were so hard they wouldn't even absorb the butter I tried to soften them with and the gravy was straight out of a bag. The steak and cheese omelet tasted like it came from McDonalds. The steak was dry and tasteless. What pushed us over the edge was no credit cards. No sign warning us. We actually set our credit card out on our bill to pay and were ignored for 10-15 minutes! It was actually another customer that told us and then pointed to the ATM in the front of the restaurant. WHAT?!?!? It costs us $3 to pay for a $15 meal. Total nonsense! We will never return.

The Palace Cafe is a charming little restaurant great for brunch and breakfast. They are also open late night on the weekends. Wait staff is friendly and you won't have to wait very long for your food to arrive. Just be sure to bring cash since cards aren't accepted!

Definitely 5 stars on the food.. Friendly service. But please post somewhere online your hours. I can't for the life of me ever remember or find them.driven there countless afternoons to find it closed.. AND these are the strangest hours imagininable to have. And I know I'm not the first to think so.

What a nice place to do a breakfast noshing. It's such a quaint place. Much bigger than it looks from the outside. Mainly a breakfast menu with a few lunch items. Wish they had smaller pancakes. These are so huge you'll have a hard time finishing if you order eggs & a meat. Kinda a waste of food in my opinion but certainly worth the trip to feel like you stepped back in time.

The Palace Cafe is a charming place for great breakfast in Hillsdale. Entrance: back door or front. Back door goes through the kitchen so don't be alarmed. Ambiance: Fells like you just stepped back in time. Cute, comfortable, friendly and charming. Looks like it use to be an old fashion ice cream parlor or candy shop. You can sit at the counter or booths. There are interesting drawings along the walls too. Menu: Breakfast basics and country entrees like mom would make it.. Good variety. I ordered the country breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and biscuit and gravy and a small orange juice. If ordering oj, go for the larger. Mine was kinda small. Price: very inexpensive. Around $6 per person. Parking: out back, there is plenty of space. No parking fee. Service: Staff seems okay. Our waitress wasn't overly friendly or anything. We went around 10:30am on Saturday so it was busy. Check it out! It's a great place for breakfast!
