Best grilled cheese sandwich and chicken fingers in Michigan. Came here 2 years in a row after Tough Mudder, WORTH IT!!!

WAS a nice place. Took the family here last week for breakfast and no one offered to seat the six of us while we stood at the door and "waited to be seated." Customers around us shrugged their shoulders as we waited awkwardly for a table as staff milled about the 1/2 full place. So we gathered up and left to go back to a better place, POPPAS. I wish Harold well with his fabulous wait and hostess staff. My party of six will never be back.

Great place. Stopped in for a beer with a buddy. Great service and friendly bartender! They have Bud Light, Blue Moon, and White Hatter on tap.

Follow up on review left 9/21/13 - Still great food, but the last few times we've had to wait for the check and then wait for someone to take our money at the register. They saw us standing there but kept doing other things...a little irritating but the food is worth it.

We ordered the fried Whitefish along with two sides. The restaurant was packed, yet the service was quick and friendly. Our food was especially tasty, and, modestly priced. The fries had a deliciously crisp coating on them, and, the fish was piping hot and generously breaded but not greasy. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience.

Best hand-battered chicken tender and excellent grilled cheese. Large portions. Tough Mudder finish line every year.

Harold's Place is a decent family style restaurant in the Irish Hills of Michigan. It's not a fancy place. The walls are adorned with NASCAR paraphernalia and hunting decorations. The menu is fairly large with traditional American down-home type fare. There are sandwiches, salad, soup and home cooked meals like chicken, meatloaf and mashed potatoes. There are also boards that features specials every day. Harold's is also open for breakfast and serves a pretty good breakfast. Harold's isn't any thing crazy, but the food is good and there are not really many restaurants around. If you're hungry and in the area it's a good place to stop for a meal.

Bad food, bad service. Since it was the ONLY place around we stopped in. My burger was so overcooked that I had to send it back. My second burger was spoiled and inedible. Our waitress was useless and we had to wait for the cashier for more than 15 minutes just to check out because she didn't know how to fix the Credit card machine. After having a terrible meal and bad service you would think the management would have said don't worry about the bill but instead I had to stand there and wait and wait and wait... We will NEVER go back even if it means driving 30 minutes out of the way.

My rare burger came out well done. The second burger was rancid. Our waitress never noticed our empty drinks and I had to wait 15 minutes at the counter to pay my bill while the cashier cleared out her CC machine and messed with the register.

Best restaurant in this area, especially for lunch. Nice atmosphere, with booths and table options available. Service was friendly and quick. Food is typical American fare - improved by a number of homemade options. I had bean & ham soup (excellent) and a sandwich of smoked turkey on rye with ample lettuce and tomato. My family members had baked whitefish (good!) and fresh vegetables (surprisingly good), Philly cheesesteak, and cheese quesadillas - everyone was pleased. Again, the service was excellent.

We like the food as most of our dishes have tasted good and were fresh. However, like a few others reviewers on this stream, I have to agree that the service is amazingly poor - EVERY SINGLE TIME. You wait..wait wait. And it is only half full. We have been about 6-7 times in the past year and each time we laugh about how the food is good but expecting poor and slow service. Too bad. We are probably on our last effort of going there.

We love this place. I have read the previous reviews, and yes, sometimes the service is slower than it could be but usually okay. Our food is always great. I am amused by the review of someone in July/2011 that basically copies a review from Feb/2011. If you are going to insult a business, come up with your own reviews. It is disappointing that YELP lets that go by. FISH DINNERS? AWESOME!
