Saburba is definitively one of the best restaurants in the Grand Rapids area. If you don't live in Ada, consider their food a good reason to visit. The bibimbap is my personal favorite dish.

Got the classic Italian sandwich for lunch and it was excellent. Only problem was that I could've eaten four of them and it was $10. I will definitely go back for more, want to try the soups which seem to have good reviews. I'll plan on spending $20 for lunch if I want to be full for the afternoon. Otherwise service was terrific and ingredients were outstanding; definitely a memorable sandwich.

As so many have already said, the food choices are creative and delicious with desserts that are amazing and a reason to come here all by themselves, but does everyone know they cater? Saburba just did a small event for us that was fantastic with a cheese tray that was creative, beautiful, and delicious, and a veggie tray that was more of a presentation than just a veggie tray. I heartily recommend them for any size event!!!

So good! I convinced a picky co-worker to try this place instead of going to Subway. He liked it! We both tried the chicken noodle bowl. I loved it; it had just the right amount of heat and was very filling. The staff was very friendly and brought our food to us on the patio. They also recommended what turned out to be a delicious dessert. I think it was called "A Little of Everything"? Prices are a little more expensive but you are paying for top-of-the-line quality. I wish I lived here so I could come back!

The food was great. Atmosphere is more of a to-go cafe. Great music and an excellent selection of bottled sodas. They also have a selection of baked goods (some gluten-free). Only 3 small tables and a bar with three stools. The food was good, a mixture of things with spicy sauces (yum!). Next time I'm here id like to try a sandwich. I recommend the Shanghai Chicken!

Wow. What a gem... Had the pork belly lettuce wraps and warm salad, with an assortment of the desserts on display. If you care about food and are in the area, don't miss this one. Will definitely be sharing this one with family and friends.

Nice little place. I had the Cuban Reuben which was pretty good. Not much seating, but bonus points for having bottled Coke!

So good you'll never want the meal to end, but then it will, far too quickly, like a hot February day or an episode of scandal. It ends quickly because the portion sizes are small. I always wish they had some sides. I can't bring myself to order two items due to the price. The taste of the food is excellent though. I've had the bibimbap, Korean ribs and some noodles. All excellent, but so small. My ribs contained 4 oz of meat, 1/4 cup of apple kimchi and about a cup of rice.

For a small casual place, they have some unordinary food. I had the pork cheek with radish tacos which were quite tasty and full of pork.

Oh, Saburba, how I love thee. I eat here. A lot. Breakfast on Saturday is always delicious (and so are the Saturday morning donuts!) They have some great sandwiches and tacos for lunch. And I always love the off-menu take-home dinner specials on Wednesdays. This is my go-to spot. The staff is great, food is creative, desserts are amazing.

The shrimp po boy almost made me cry. It was that good. The desserts are addictive. They just melt in your mouth. We have never had a dish that we didn't love here, the consistency is appreciated. The menu is creative and vibrant ands changes throughout the year. The kitchen and front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. A shout out to Zach D who was cooking. That guy can really cook! Love the atmosphere too. Small town, artsy and cozy.

Been here every day for lunch as I've been traveling and I work for Amway. This place is beyond amazing. Everyday a new menu for tacos and for soups. I've tried the salads, desserts, soups, and bowls. All of it has been exceptional. Be adventurous!! Try something here and you won't regret it. :)

This restaurant is a great addition to the downtown Ada area. Its perfect lunch grub, but also makes for a nice dinner. All of the staff is super friendly! Saburba serves one of the best veggie/grain burgers I have ever tasted! I will be back for that over and over again. All of the other sandwiches I have tried were also pretty tasty. The homemade chips are great! GET DESSERT. I have tried the salted caramel brownie, ooey gooey bar, and a raspberry cobbler/crumble bar. All three were huge and blew me away. So whatever you do, dont skip dessert. My only complaint: I think their prices are about 15% too high. But it is Ada so I suppose I should expect that. Additionally, they home make almost everything.. so I suppose that warrants their prices. Either way, a must try for those in the Grand Rapids area. Oh! And Donut Service only on Saturdays!

The food here is on point everytime I order. Unique dishes with lots of flavor and great variety. Three issues that may make you want to avoid this spot. If you drive look elsewhere for parking. They have 3 spots, never available. If your in a hurry this place is not for you right now. Even when im the only one in the restaurant its a 15 minute wait. And if you have a group of more than 4 expect to take out because there is very very limited seating which is to be expected being it used to be a dominos take out pizza place. Of these three things are not deal breakers then I suggest you pop in today.

Absolutely adorable place. Great decor, and a really cool chalk/painting thing on the wall as you enter - take some time to look at the details in that. The woman behind the counter was as nice as could be. The food was awesome - four of us ate, and all tried different things...and we all loved our meal! The hand cut potato chips are great, and the ooey gooey dessert. Well, I'm drooling remembering it (and I don't really do sweets). A fun beverage list, with lots of options. Overall, an amazing, unique little place. Definitely try this place!

The reviewer who mentioned price vs. portion size is correct: if you are looking for an $8 feed your face experience or inspiring dine-in ambience this is not your place. If you are looking for very fresh, high-quality, delicious dishes for take-out or for eating in a slightly cramped but cute and cozy area this is for you. We love the homemade kimchee and pork-based dishes that you simply will not find within 10 miles or more. This could develop into a landmark eatery for Ada if the residents appreciate quality over quantity. Understand that this is inspired and creative cooking that you would expect from a chef who decided to do food that excites him. If Ada only wants cheap and big then we will lose a food-lover's unique gem. The fact that Suburba inhabits a former Domino's Pizza location gives me hope. A few more tables and tap beer and my standing Friday after-work plans are settled.

I would use the words quaint, charming, foodie, local, and superfreakingdelish to describe Saburba. A sense of commonplace in what was once familiar. A hip spot to meet friends, bring out-of-towners or pop in for quick, satisfying, real food. Get the ramen! Homemade noodles. Kimchi, mushrooms, soul-satisfying broth, bokchoy. Did I mention homemade noodles! SO GOOD!!!! wp.me/s1TUz3-saburba

My husband brought home some amazing Ratatouille from Saburba the other day. I made two meals of it and you could taste the freshness in all of the ingredients! I can't wait to try some more of their offerings, especially the donuts!

I had lunch with a friend at Saburba this week. This is mostly a take out place, although they do have four very small tables. It's a cute place, and I'm very happy they're using local food as much as possible. Since I had never been there before, I asked the woman behind the counter what she recommended. She quickly indicated a few of their specialities, but when we asked for more details, she had to refer us to someone else in the kitchen. I had the pork Ramen bowl. The pork in the dish was very tender and tasty, and the house made ramen were good - but overall I found this dish just a tad bit salty for my taste. A couple of other reviewers referred to small portion sizes. I haven't tried evreything on the menu, but my ramen bowl didn't feel small to me - it was just about right, portion-wise. Because I've heard people raving about their donuts, I stopped on a Saturday morning for the "housemade" chai and a home made donut. They do only drinks and donuts/bars/treats on Saturdays. I was 5th in line and waited about 15 minutes for my turn. When I got to the counter, the line behind me was out the door. I was glad to see many of those people holding their own, reusable coffee cups. I am not a chai expert, but my chai was little more than faintly flavored hot water. (The chai I have had at other places is much more flavorful.) It was $4 for an 8 ounce serving. The doughnut was extremely fresh with a wonderful, airy and tender texture inside and a slightly crispy outside, but didn't have a lot of flavor. I think the majority of the flavor comes from the icing. The donuts are $1.50 each. Saburba is a very casual place, with very nice people working there. I hope they last, but it's typically been a tough market for a coffee shop/restaurant to survive. There is another shop opening soon within a block, so it'll be interesting to see what happens between the two.

I've only been there once, and that will probably be my last time. While the food was well prepared and well seasoned, I believe it to be overpriced. If there were more places to sit and I was paying for atmosphere, I could understand the high end prices... however with only 2-3 small tables in very close proximity of each other and the front counter, it isn't somewhere I'd go to and expect ambience. The sandwich was good yet small, coffee was ok, the coke came in a can. The bill of $15-16 for those three items was a bit high and I left still hungry. Save your money and get a sandwich from Blimpies next door.

Simple sophistication at its yummiest! IMO, the best thing to happen to the GR foody scene. We enjoy multiple times per week. Highly recommend!

I've been to Saburba twice, once to eat-in and once to carry-out. Knowing ahead of time their meager seating, I arrived early (about 11:30 am) placed a to-go order for lunch. The menu board was out of about 5 different lunch items, surprising as it was still very early in the lunch service. My order took about 10-15 minutes and I stood inside, trying to stay out of the way of other customers who were doing their best to avoid bumping into each other in Saburba's tight quarters. Three different couples looked crestfallen as they discovered no seating, with the largest table taken up my two people and their bags/laptops (that table seats at least 4). Got my rice bowl home to find that it was lukewarm/room temp in the 7 minutes it took to drive to my house. Rather disappointing, especially for the price I paid. I love Saburba's philosophy, but their execution is lacking. And what time do I have to get there to eat lunch on premises? 10:30 am?

Some friends wanted to go to Blimpies and I saw this place next door and had to try it. It looks new an fun and it was. The menu was very eclectic to say the least. They had American staples, along with some fufu tacos and ramen. I opted for the ramen and I was pleased. Its not often you get some good ramen in town. The broth was perfectly spicy and had plenty of fresh vegetables. It was very hot temperature wise, it took me a while before I could actually start eating it. The noodles were a little under done for my liking, but not bad. I would go back and see what other offering they had.

Went for lunch for the first time. I had the shrimp Po boy. It had good flavor, the bread was fantastic, but light on the shrimp. They were out of 3-4 things I wanted to try so that was a bummer, The staff was friendly. It's a nice lunch spot if you are looking for something different. I hope to go back for the veggie chili.

This place is a nice little added gem to the Ada lunch scene! The daily menu includes an eclectic yet tasty assortment of ramen, sammiches, soups, tacos and salads. I've only tried 2 sandwiches so far (the one with the shrimp and the italian sandwich, both uber delicious!), but they were amazing and I cannot wait to try their other dishes. They also have prepared meals, sides & dips for sale (like kimchi, pasta or hummus), as well as an amazing assortment of fresh baked goods. I split a pumpkin whoopie pie with molasses filling with a friend that was to DIE for. Everything seems to be homemade, fresh and/or locally sourced, which is awesomesauce. They have fruit & herb infused water available for free to drink (such as rosemary and citrus), as well as a Saturday donut day that I wish was available on weekdays so I could bring donuts to work. The ONLY "negative" of the place is the lack of seating for larger groups, as there are only about 3 or 4 small tables that seat 2-4 each (more of a takeout place). On the flip side though, it's a quaint little restaurant with a cool vibe and great food. All in all, I recommend this gem to everyone so please support this wonderful local restaurant!

This is one of my top 5 restaurants in West Michigan. Located in the middle of Ada, Saburba offers very interesting, fresh and delicious fare. First visit, Biminbop. What is it? It is amazing! Second visit, Cuban sandwich...perfect with the citrus slaw and succulent pulled pork. Third visit, Shanghai Chicken bowl...spicy bits of chicken on lo mein noodles with veggies and whole peanuts in a not too spicy sauce. I can not decide my favorite yet. I can't wait to return and try some more enticing selections from their eclectic menu. Happy eating!

I stopped in for take-out lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see Korean inspired dishes on the menu. The Bimibap was outstanding, fresh and made for an extremely satisfying lunch. The salads and sandwiches looked tempting too, I will definitely be back. It is obvious they care about quality ingredients.

Great food - prices are on the high side but to be expected in that area. There is not much for seating which can be annoying during lunch. Overall very happy with it, I am a frequent visitor.

An excellent restaurant in the heart of Ada. Amazing tacos, sandwiches, and dessert. One of my favorite places for lunch!

Wow. This a cute little quirky place with just 4 tables. Take-out available too. Everything I have tried so far is amazing! Delicious tacos. Great ramen. Lovely green chili and wonderful little steamed buns. Super friendly service. Most importantly, the food is fabulous. While I was waiting, I was offered a bit of coffee as it was near the end of the day. And a taste of the "ooey gooey" desert--which was smart because I took two home as a result. It is ooey gooey and uber yummy. Donuts on Saturday mornings. Have not tried them yet, but if everything else is an indicator, they are fabulous :)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
