We don't live in the area, but stop for burgers and fries when we are in the area, because they are really good. It's, generally, a good place to eat. I just don't recommend asking for mustard on your burgers or make sure to specify light mustard. Our burgers had so much mustard on all of them that it was overwhelming and you couldn't taste anything else, but the mustard. Nothing we could do about it after not knowing until we were on the highway for our journey back home.

First. This is a review of the puttputt section of Roys. Not their food. I've had their food in the past. It's all right. Not particularly something to write home about. Unless you're predisposed to writing home about everything you put in your mouth. And that's weird. You weirdo. I digress. The puttputt is par for the course. See what I did there? It looks out over a diving range. I mean driving range. Diving ranges would still be a nice view. But there's rolling hills littered with naturally occurring golf balls. Have you seen wild golf balls before? Oh how they frolic. The puttputt course is fun. Each hole has a theme. Like wagon. Or ocean. Or racetrack. Or lobster cage. But I don't want to spoil the whole course for you. Difficulty is aimed towards the little folk. I mean children. Though little adults might find it challenging as well. Say hello to Rhonda.

My last review was 2 years ago, and nothing is improved & the experience may be even worse. Today (June 15) the burgers were nearly tasteless. Still there are no pickles for burgers & our burger's onions were caramelized! Why were we not asked whether we preferred raw or cooked onions anyway? Further, how is it possible that caramelized onions have almost no flavor whatsoever? I often cook caramelized onions at home & there is a strong, sweet flavor to them. Were these onions cut too long before they were placed on our burgers? My husband & I simply do not understand how these burgers are still in favor by some people. We can only hope that something on the menu is better. French fries were dry. I cannot believe I am saying I prefer Wendy's! Heaven forbid!

Good burger and fries. Nothing too special here, but then again they aren't really trying to make anything fancy here. The food is simple, home cooked and fairly priced. If that is what you are looking for then I would recommend this place to you!

If your sick of generic chain restaurants this is a decent choice. My steak sub was good and fries came out hot and tasty. My friend's tuna sub was also good. Staff are friendly and seating is no problem with a huge dining room. Food needs more seasoning but overall solid place.

I was disappointed with the very Tiny burger Between the very big bun. I find it a bit pricey for what you get.

I walked in and immediately loved the layout, menu, and decor of the place. It reminded me of some of the old time seafood and burger joints they used to have in Maine. I thought the place was really clean and employees were washing windows, vacuuming floors, etc. As a customer, I really appreciate that. Counter service was another story. We were waited on by a girl with dyed red hair who definitely had an attitude problem with us during the ordering process and we were just asking a basic question about the food (ie what's on the burger?). When our order was ready I picked up our tray and tried to check our order. The girl with the red hair acted annoyed and just insisted everything was there. Upon returning to the table we were discovered we were missing chicken fingers. The woman cleaning the dining room was super friendly and retrieved them from the kitchen for us. The food was good, but the french fries were the best thing we ordered. I would go back just to get another box of those french fries. Yummo! My only other comment is to say that this is NOT a good place for families with young children because there is no diaper changing table in the bathroom (and the bathroom is big enough to fit one too).

You can't take anything away from the burgers, but the fries deserve their own headline here. Crispy krinkle cuts done to perfection. No overused oil flavors and delicious texture. I was only passing through on a tip from a friend and I'm ever so grateful. Clean, friendly and quick in terms of service. Plus I have a fondness for places where you can look into the open kitchen and see a clean, well run operation.

After reading first review, I was expecting to pay less than $6 for 2 burgers, fries, and a drink. I ordered 1 cheeseburger ($1.95), 1 burger ($1.70), 1 lg fry ($2.55), 1 small soda ($1.10) and it came to $7.81. The burgers weren't the size of most sliders...they are bigger. It's more than I'd like to pay, but the food was fantastic and I didn't create an exception in my expense report.

Locals name Roy's the best burgers in the twin cities. For those who move away, Roy's is one of those places they miss.

I am a little surprised that Roy's has not been reviewed before. Roy's is uniquely Maine. The burgers are ground from "Grade A Steak" on the premises. You can see them grinding it and also cutting their own fries. The burgers are small, like sliders. They automatically put mustard, ketchup, grilled onions and sweet relish on the burgers. They run about $1.65 for a burger served on a napkin in a a paper box. An order of two burgers with fries and a Coke will set you right for about five bucks. I make special trips to Roy's about 3-5 times a summer and am still not sick of them. They have white vinegar on the tables for the fries and you need to ask for extra ketchup. The web site that is attached to this review is for the sister restaurant that has a driving range, but the menu and prices are essentially the same.
