Awesome. Simply awesome. On an Island with very little options and even less hope for great food, this place nails it. I would guess there are other great seafood spots, but coming up from Richmond, VA where our seafood is limited this place is a true gem. The Rockfish & Chips was awesome. Handcut fries and perfectly battered Rockfish with tarter sauce... yes please! I also tried the Gumbo that had won so many awards and WOW. The Pulled Pork BBQ was awesome but if you order it Carolina Style they either skimp or forget the vinegar sauce so I recommend Texas style. Prices are great, the place is cute, and the staff is awesome. I definitely recommend this spot if you're on the island.

Great Lunch specials! I get the cream of crab soup a lot. It's walking distance from my work and my coworkers and I eat there a lot. We always get great customer service and great food. Highly recommend!

I stopped by on my way back from the beach looking for a good sandwich. As yelp reviewers have this place a solid rating, I decided to check it out. I was hoping to try the brisket and seafood gumbo but they were all out. so I ordered the Cuban Melt Meal and cream of crab. The Cuban melt was delicious! just the right amount of pork and ham along with grilled onions and pickles. the soup was amaZing even in 90 degree weather. I will be sure to stop by again on my next trip back that way :)

Great for take-out Cream-of-Crab Soup, gumbo or crab dip. BBQ is average. No brewed tea and sauce really isn't that great. Go for the seafood.

I've only been here once, and now I have to go back. I got the pulled pork. It was excellent. There are way too many places serving you slow cooked pork with no smoke flavor, no bark and no moisture. You really don't know if the other places are just making it in a crock pot. This was great. The meat stands on it's own, they put the sauce on by request. (don't get me started on the places that premix their pork with sauce...that's not BBQ, that's a sloppy joe!) Looking forward to going back to try some of the many other items on the menu. They also have specialty items like stuffed jalapenos, bacon wrapped scallops, bacon wrapped shrimp along with ribs, chicken, and even crabs. Yup, crabs. I hope this place isn't a one hit wonder, but I gave it 5 stars because I have a good feeling about it. Only ding....they don't brew their own iced tea. They had fountain sweetened tea. Yech.

I was on vacation here and I saw this place and figured I would eat here based on the great reviews, sadly it did not live up to them when I went there. I ordered the Half Chicken and 2 medium sides, I picked Mac and cheese and beens, it all tasted bland to me, the Half Chicken had bbq sauce on it and that didn't really provide any flavor also. Overall service was fine but I didn't like the Food and I don't believe it's the best place here for bbq, then again it's about the only place.

Unbelievably delicious, hole in the wall place, that rocks the bbq! Love it! Be prepared to wait for your food to be cooked - carry only.

My husband and I were on our way to Rehoboth from DC and hadn't planned a stop for lunch. Google pointed us to It's the Pits just on the other side of the Bay Bridge and we thought we'd give it a shot. All I can say is don't judge a book by it's cover, the place doesn't look like much, but the BBQ was amazing. We both had the pork BBQ lunch special and it is such a good value for really great barbecue. I think we just started a new family vacation tradition.

Wonderful fish tacos, my favorite item for lunch. BBQ falls off the bone. Great sides too.

We are at the Kegs & Corks Festival. They have amazing food. Extra clean. Nice staff. Brisket was perfect, fries just right. And the pulled pork is tasty too. Fresh, hot and great. Highly recommend. ..in fact everyone around us went to the stand after we raved about the food. Enjoy

great food, great service unfortunately seasonal sides are mashed potatoes & cornbread so it's not available in summer

Ok so I went here twice in one day...kinda sad for the dining options in this area but a sound choice. The style of barbecue here is the St. Louis style. The meat in my opinion was a little on the drier side but I did hit pockets of moistness. For the most part the spare ribs were done in an acceptable fashion. The real star of the show was the bbq chicken and gumbo. This has to be one of the tastiest chickens I have eaten in a while. Juicy, smokey, and succulent. I would definitely recommend stopping by to get some cucumber and onion salad, macaroni salad, and baked beans. The salads had a nice hint of acidity and just refreshed the palate after eating. Gumbo is something that you definitely would not think about getting from a place right over the bridge in crab eating county, but surprising the gumbo here was hearty, complex, and soul satisfying. If you aren't eating crab out here then I would recommend this place as a runner up. Again there is nowhere to sit and the place seems more like a seafood market but it's got pretty good food all around you. Remember this is an excellent dining option if you are in the area. Cheers and good eats!

This is my FAVORITE bbq joint, and one of the most underrated places on the shore. Everything I've had is delicious, especially their pulled chicken, house bbq sauce, and French fries. Their Cuban sandwich and fried oyster poboys are not to be missed. There are tons of options for side dishes, and they are all equally delicious. Their brisket cheese steak is amazing, if not traditional, and the seafood gumbo is unexpectedly authentic. Keep a look out for specials! The staff is wonderful and friendly, service is fast, and there is a great liquor store right next door. There isn't any seating though, so be warned.

So-so lunch the other day. I probably ordered the wrong thing going for the turkey sundae. I imagine it is geared to more of the regulars that want Barbeque sauce and food to fill their bellies. As a first timer, I would probably have been better off with a platter or sandwich to taste each item on its own. The sundae is your choice of meat topped with beans, sliced onion, and cole slaw. The cole slaw sauce mixes with the beans which mixes with the Barbeque sauce I asked for (Texas tomato). It all covers a somewhat cold sliced lunch meat. If there was smoke flavor, I couldn't find it. That's not to say it wasn't tasty. After I drained some of the liquid I definitely ate the whole thing. Fries were awesome and crispy and everything you want in French fries. The corn bread slices are huge, and although I prefer them moist and cakey, my partner likes it a little dry and more savory. The cornbread here catered to his taste. He used all the sauce in his sundae to soak cornbread in and ate it with a fork. Overall halfway decent lunch, but southern bbq it ain't.

Brisket was really good, kerry said the jumbo lump crab cake was the best he had ever had. The pulled pork was good, but not great. The fries were amazing. Pretty happy overall, but be aware there is only outside seating. It would be a great place for takeout

Tried the cream of crab soup, which is much better in my opinion at Big Bats Cafe. Also had the pulled pork. The meat was plentiful and not dry- but just had no flavor AT All besides the sauces offered to cover it. May be a great place to pick up fresh seafood? I don't know, I just went there for lunch and was not impressed.

Me and the wife were craving some BBQ on the way home from Ocean City. I checked out Yelp and this place seemed to have some good reviews. I got the brisket sandwich platter which comes with fries and coleslaw for 10 bucks. The sandwich was one the best briskest I've ever had and definitely the most tender. It comes with a Texas style sweet sauce( I prefer Carolina vinegar style) which was also good. The fries are OC boardwalk "thrasher" style which are awesome. My only complaint was the coleslaw didn't have that tangy sweetness that I'm used to. My wife got the pulled pork platter. She liked it, but thought it was lacking a little bit of sauce. Overall though it was a great experience, we left full and will definitely go back.

NO PUBLIC RESTROOM. No seating indoors. There are 2 or 3 picnic tables outside. Very, very casual place. Not super-fast. The ribs were excellent; pulled pork sandwich excellent; the friend oyster sandwich was great.

Yummo! We had to crab cakes, bbq sandwich, beans, slaw and pasta salad. Crab cakes are bomb. Love the tarter and cocktail sauce also. Bbq brisket was the best! Bbq chicken sandwich wouldnt order again. Had the right carolina and that was good. Fries were good also. Found this place thanks to yelp reviews. Actually going to be going back on our way home from vacation.

My fiance (at the time) and myself were looking for a caterer for our wedding and were just down the road from here at another business. Once we finished up with our appointment down there, we were driving by and saw this place on the side of the road. It was very unassuming, little bbq joint off he main roadway. We had heard about this place through our wedding venue and it came with rave reviews. The owners, Mike and Doug are awesome dudes. We went in and explained that we were getting married and were looking for a bbq catering place to do the job. They let us try everything they had in the shop and every bit was more delicious than the last. The Food: BBQ Chicken - Slow smoked and juicy, very good. Pulled Pork - Slow smoked and juicy, excellent. Brisket - Slow smoked and (you guessed it) juicy, THE BEST brisket I have ever had. It had a peppercorn rub on it and served with their version of bbq sauce was out of bounds delicious. We went with these guys almost immediately. We came up with a menu which included all of the previous mentioned meats, various sides including a ridiculously good crab dip appetizer. We liked it so much, my mom signed them up to do the rehearsal dinner as well. We had NY Strip steaks, blue crabs and twice baked potatoes (+ sides). Mike used to work at a Ruths Chris steakhouse and the steaks were cooked to perfection. It was one of the best meals I've had in a good while. Catering: They provided the bar, waiters, servers, everybody. Everyone was very kind and helpful, didn't have a single issue with the service. The bartenders were especially fun and made sure the guests enjoyed all their various libations. Overall experience: This business made my wedding day care free, delicious and one hell of a party. Don't think for a second that BBQ is a "lesser" food to serve at a wedding, everyone who I talked to raved about the food and service. We got married approximately an hour from their shop, don't know how far they go generally, but if you're looking for a top notch catering outfit, swing by this place. I can't thank them enough for the great job they did.

I Left Matapeake Bay after a dog run, and was hungry for lunch. Check my GPS for recommendation, and this one show up nearby. It is a tiny place off from the main road, and they have a BBQ food truck but was not used on the day. It was Labour Day Monday. While we were looking at the menu, a car is leaving, asked them what they recommend. He said everything is good, but in particular the crab cake. We ended up with a Jumbo Crabcake Platter, and Fried Oyster. They served with fries and coleslaw. It is not gourmet food, but it is good BBQ and fresh. The owner is very friendly, we had our dog with us and was going to sit outside, but it started to rain, he said the Health and Safety is not going to be working today, bring the dog in! It turns out he has a Dachshund too. They do catering as well. On one side of the shop, the Chef won many champion trophy for his gumbo. I am not a big gumbo fan, but if you are, you should try it.

It's the Pits cooked a whole hog for my husbands 50th surprise birthday party and it was awesome! Everyone loved it! Tender and juicy, the best I've ever had!
