Location is da bomb. The drink selection sucks, like that joint needs to be BYOB &BYOM (Bring Your Own Mixers) and ice. The food was ok ,but the service was awful. I will be back because I met a few new folks there and they made the experience better, but I'll eat first and bring my own bottle.

I went for the live music on Independence Day. The location is beautiful, the staff is good looking, and the owner was so hospitable (he sang the national anthem, and created a conga line for all of us to join) The food, and customer service was pretty bad, but I didn't go for that.

Proud Mary has been at the Marina for a long time. Food is served in small portions and the prices are expensive. Service is slow and has been slow for awhile, why there has not been a improvement? On some occasion the restaurant has live music but plays too loud in the cramp quarters of the restaurant.

This review is for the resident Proud Mary's DJ and his services. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE HIM FOR ANY SPECIAL OCCASION or EVENT. He was a no call, no show and proved to be very unprofessional. Unresponsive to emails and sent a backup with no equipment. The food & band entertainment is great, but don't even think twice about hiring the DJ. Still months later, still have not received a call, email or an apology. No worries...Galatians 6:7

When they call the best kept secret they're right! Great service, great food, and a beautiful view on a nice fall day! I'm a connoisseur of fried chicken and this place is up there on my list. My girlfriend had the salmon, which she described as "okay". We gave this restaurant a 3 1/2 but to make it yelp accessible we rounded up to 4. The service put them over. Will be back. Probably even better in the summer!

Proud Mary, was a great dining experience. Went here for an Anniversary Dinner with my Guy and it was awesome. It is very much off the beating path, so please be careful getting here. It is literally, a little hidden gem. Unfortunately, it was a misty night, so we could not enjoy the great view of the marina. However, it was very nice inside. When we first walked in it was almost empty. However, that changed pretty fast. We were seated by a very nice young man named Dominique who helped us the entire night. For drinks, we started off with the Proud Mary Rum Punch and a Long Island Iced Tea. Both of which were very good. Food wise, it was good. We ordered the crab and spinach dip. It was a little too thick for my liking, but it had good flavor. I found myself adding a little bit of salsa to every bit to give it a little more umph. I ordered for entree, the Crabby Shrimp Combo and it was delicious. Not lump crab, so please don't get too excited, but the crab cake was a very good size and had great flavor. It was accompanied with 6 decent sized broiled shrimp that were equally as good. The Guy ordered the Stuffed Salmon with Crab and the one little bite the let me have was very good!! Salmon was cooked to perfection. But let me mention an item that in my opinion is usually overcooked and under seasoned, steamed broccoli. The steamed broccoli was the option for the day and it was very good. I usually leave it behind, but it was the first to go on my plate. All in all, the food was good, expensive, but good. Proud Mary offers karaoke night on Thursdays, which we did not know. However, it was fun to hear the gentleman sing Motown hits and try to get the diners involved. All in all, I enjoyed Proud Mary. I had a great time. Service was great and the food was delicious. Now I just have to go back on an evening when I can enjoy the amazing view.

The location is great but getting there one needs to be careful driving through the winding roads. Parking is a problem. I came out to my car to find it and others blocked in because of people creating parking spaces. It took an hour to finally get out. What I ordered, the wings and a Caesar salad were good but if you order an entrée you can't sub the sides that come with it. I didn't want greens or sweet potatoes, the side dishes that come with entrees, but would have to pay additional for another side order. The other order was the fried shrimp. Again very good but it only comes with the veggie of the day. Most places give you two sides and flexibility. If you didn't like or want the broccoli you have to pay for another side dish.

My server Reesie was awesome! She had a great personality and gave great service. I got the spinach dip and fish nuggets. The fish nuggets had no flavor at all. I had to make up for the lack of seasoning with hot sauce. The spinach dip came out with four chips sitting in the dip already. It looked corny and I did not eat those soggy things. The peach margarita was EH!! Overall I had a great time because my date and I enjoyed eachothers company by the water and the service was fantastic.

Yummy food and drinks. Nice atmosphere by the water. Must try the corn muffins and the Proud Mary Punch. Too many of either of these and you'll be coming back very soon! Definitely a good date place or even just a spot for Girls Night Out. Also, live music on the weekends.

OK where do I start, this was my first time eating at this restaurant and my last. We had a reservation for 30 we were on time, and we told we needed to wait to be seated because the Kitchen staff needed to get themselves together. Like wise our food was late. I will say our server was very professional and she was not to blame for our untimely food service. Next thing, there were about 4 people in our party that were waiting longer than normal for their meals. So we were given corn muffins because of the wait. Well low and behold when I got the bill there was a charge for the corn muffins. Finally I ordered the Shrimp and Grits at a cost of $16.99 It stated that the grits were well season with Cheese etc.. and came with 4 shrimp. So I was expecting a decent size entree. My shrimp and grits arrived last and was in a small apple sauce dish I tasted the grits they were bland unseasoned and had four micro shrimp on top. It was so small I ask was it an appetizer. Other than my waitresses' pleasant disposition this is the worst restaurant I've been too and to add injury to insult its black owned and operated. I take pride in our black owned establishments. But you cant rape people with price and you have an IHOP chef who is probably family cooking. This place could be a great spot to dine, but instead its a great place to remove from your search engines at best. I will never go here again and I will let you know if I reach the owners for a extended discussion.

Don't do it! Just visited this restaurant for a surprise birthday party. A reservation was made in advance for our party of 20 and that meant nothing...a larger party (50) came in and all the attention was given to them. Our reservation was set for 7 pm and we were on time, except for the birthday boy who arrived 15 minutes later. In short, it took 45 for a fried calamari appetizer, 20 minutes to receive tartar sauce and the list goes on. Complaints to the manager resulted in no action. Then to add insult, we were charged a 20% service charge that was not deserved. It was my first time eating here and I will not return.

Giving Proud Mary's one star is very generous. I was not impressed with the service or the food! ! I ordered the crabby combo with sweet mashed potatoes and collard greens. Both the potatoes and the greens came straight out of a can. They didn't even bother to Tru to doctor up the side dishes. Presentation of food is everything, obviously not here. They just throw your food on the plate in a disarray. The best thing I had was the corn muffin with the butter. Even the drinks were watered down with a bunch of ice. Don't waste your time or money. There are much better seafood restaurants in the area.
(1)Sabra R.
A beautiful hidden spot. Great place to sit and enjoy the view of the water. The food was good. The crabcakes are good (and coming from me, that means alot) and the fried shrimp is just lightly fried--it's not the overly breaded and greasy variety. And the dry rub on the wings is delicious. The reason I didnt give it a higher rating is that the food is quite expensive and you don't get alot, despite the fact that you end up paying alot. I also disliked the fact that service is slow and our $10 cocktails were served in plastic cups. Not impressive. But we'll definitely go again.

I went to Proud Mary with some friends over the Fourth of July weekend for a special event going on.. I will give it three stars for the atmosphere.. The restaurant is right on the water so there is a beautiful view, the night we went there was a live reggae band that really got the crowd moving and excited. Also the drinks weren't half bad, they had some pretty strong specialty drinks but the regular drinks were made well.. This place looses two stars (and that's being generous) for the horrible service, the parking is bad and the fact that my chicken on my chicken blt was dry.. I don't think this is a place I would return to just because it's over priced and in the middle of no where.. There are way better places in the area to go and spend your money if your looking for good music with a view!
(3)Sabrina G.
Would NEVER!!! Go again. For the money they ask for crab cakes it needs to be a better crab meat. It seemed like it came out of a can from Shopper's Food Warehouse. It don't know if it was backfin, or claw, but one thing for sure it wasn't lump, and that for sure. The server were walking around talking. The only thing good about this restaurant was the view.
(1)Karen C.
The customer service was Horrible. The manager was our waitress she couldn't get shit right. Horrible experience, not to mention the drinks had more ice than alcohol. The collard greebs were cold and were not clean, had to send back. The broccoli and the Salmon was cold, had to send back. Although this is close in my neighborhood, will go elsewhere.

I had the pleasure of dining at this great place recently. It is situated on the waterfront at the Fort Washington Marina. It is very "off the beaten path." Had it not been for my Waze GPS app, I know I would have gotten lost in my attempt to find the place. Nevertheless, once my party and I found the restaurant, our great experience would begin as soon as we entering the place. The atmosphere was not too bad. You have to remember that when you are here, you are within a marina/wharf. The entrance to Proud Mary's will remind you of such. (See pictures) We were among the first patrons there, therefore it was not crowded. We were immediately greeted by the server, who politely introduced herself. She took our drink and appetizer orders. I ordered a nice "drink" and some chicken tenders. The drink was prepared nicely. The chicken tenders were the crispiest and tastiest chicken tenders that I ever had the pleasure of having in a while. They seem to be actual pieces of boneless chicken. I added a second appetizer, their Bayou Catfish Nuggets. They too were great. I cannot say enough good things the Catfish Nuggets. For my meal, I ordered the "Jerk Shrimp" and broccoli (see picture). There are not enough great words that I can use to describe how good those Jerk Shrimp tasted to me. They put the perfect amount of jerk seasoning on the shrimp and definitely do not overdo it. The broccoli that came with the shrimp was steamed perfectly and was not rubbery. In addition to the great food and service, we were treated to entertainment in the form of a live band. The live band played several jazzy/R&B tunes, then was joined by a very animated singer who sang her tail off. She also interacted with us patrons during performance. That was great plus. My first time experience at Proud Mary was nothing short of great. I will definitely return here many times in the future, hopefully without the aid of Waze.

I made the crucial mistake of attending a Sunday brunch here---disappointed does not even begin to describe how I felt. The food was subpar and overpriced. I watched servers argue with another about tables. I saw a nasty wet rag left on a table as employees and managers walked past it repeatedly. I wtinessed two tables being seated and ignored for a significant amount of time--they didn't even get menus. The entire experience was just horrible. And to top it all off, I asked to speak with the manager about some of my concerns and his response was "...and you say that to say what...." I only wish I had read these reviews prior to dragging me and my friend (she was so horrified, that she wrote her first ever Yelp review) to.... "Mary Should be Ashamed of Herself Resturant".

My friend picked this place for her birthday brunch. I never ate here but I know a few people that frequent the place regularly so I assumed that the food would be good. My assumption was wrong. Well our experience started with a tour of the restaurant. They have a tiki bar, they do karaoke on some night I forgot, blah blah blah...I just noticed how it was brunch and there was NO ONE in the restaurant. Now...the DC area is serious about their brunch so since it was empty I got a little worried. My friend posted the brunch menu before we arrived so we got to get a sneak peak of everything. First off, everything is overpriced but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt since usually places with overpriced food make up for it with massive portions or massive flavors. Due to my yelp membership I was able to get a free glass of wine (the best part of the experience to be honest) and we got waters around the table. A few of us ordered the corn muffins. I wasn't feeling paying 99¢ for one muffin but once I saw them I kinda understood why. They're pretty huge and come with cinnamon butter. The muffin was pretty good by itself and didn't need the butter. The butter just helped make the muffin have a smoother texture. I'm a shrimp and grits fiend and usually if a restaurant serves it I usually get it but today for some reason I decided to get the chicken and waffles. Now...I'm glad my intuition works because the folks that ordered the shrimp and grits were HIGHLY disappointed. First off, the grits were thick as hell. Not creamy thick, but we boiled them joints last night and warmed them over thick. Then...they committed a cardinal sin...they CUT UP the shrimp and put them on top and sprinkled some cheese over it. WHAT?! Who's five year old made the shrimp and grits?! Wasn't nary ounce of sauce or gravy, no peppers or onions...NOTHING! I took a picture of this foolishness so it can memorialized in history. No one ate their shrimp and grits...not a single soul. Now to the dish I actually ordered, chicken and waffles. They clearly fry their chicken in old ass oil that they burned many a chickens ago. The seasoning was burned off so I couldn't taste what seasons they used and the chicken was dry. Sahara, Gobi..DRY. The menu also said it was a 1/2 chicken with TWO waffles. We got a 1/4 chicken with one waffle...for 16.99. Ridiculous...I'm still waiting to taste the 16.99. The other chicken and waffles folks didn't really complain about their food...probably because they were starved by the time it arrived. We was the only take in the joint so I don't understand why it took so long to get our food. Once we got around to paying a couple people had issues with corn muffins being thrown on the wrong bills and the waitress, for some reason, was unable to put the muffins on the proper tickets so folks got salty about that. I was able to pay my bill with no problem but I wished my food was put on someone else's ticket...it wasn't worth paying for. In conclusion, brunch is a hell NAH. I see other reviewers saying the food is good...I don't want to say y'all lying...but...it appears they may have fudged the truth. Maybe the drinks are saving this restaurant cuz as a sober patron I wouldn't return. The trip all the way around the Mulberry Bush wasn't worth the wack shrimp and grits or dry ass chicken. I'm still waiting to taste 16.99 worth of chicken and waffles. I was hoping for tear jerking deliciousness because of the price instead I got robbed. **Update: The owner actually tried to blast my friend on FB and instead of acknowledging that her food is trash she accused her of being cheap. No one returned their meals and actually paid for that bull...She needs to humble herself and make better damn food. I honestly would be satisfied if this place flopped because she doesn't appreciate her customers or future ones. I'm not saying kiss anyone's ass but you know damn well you shouldn't be serving struggle shrimp.

I just can't. Let me begin by saying that I have been here on more than one occasion in an effort to really give this spot a chance...and I still just can't. I just can't understand what all the hype is about. The food was okay but nothing more than okay...and that's once I was able to find something on the menu that was available after my first 3 attempts. The service was slow but I don't think that it was due to any fault of his own. He can't serve what the kitchen didn't have and he was nice and gracious enough. The live band was still setting up when we left so not sure what time they actually started their performance but I do know that they were more than an hour late doing so. The location on the water is everything. It's private. It's down in the cut tucked away in the back of a neighborhood on the water. But I just can't get with this establishment. Don't get me wrong. Proud Mary's has mad potential. I see the vision. I see where this place could be everything across the board. However, it's way off its mark of doing so. Start by paving the parking lot. The dust and the rocks just don't do it for me. I think that the menu offerings could be narrowed to fewer options and then focus on doing those well instead of trying to do so much and coming up short. Be punctual with the entertainment. If you can't have punctual performers, at least offer some soft jazz background music playing. Proud Mary...you're just doing way too much for this chick and I just gotta leave you where you are. Best of luck to ya!

Remember how your parents would say before a spanking, "This is gonna hurt me more than it's gonna hurt you"? Well that's how I feel about this review. I HATE to write a negative review but I use Yelp and I trust the opinions of real diners like myself so I have to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the TRUTH! It's only fair. Ok, so where do I begin? First of all this wasn't my first time coming to Proud Mary. I came here about 3 yrs ago during the winter months. I remember having salmon and it was ok. Nothing to write home about but good. The had a jazz band and they were good. We of course sat on the inside. So fast forward to April 2015, myself and a friend decided to take advantage of the warm weather on a Friday after work and enjoy some cocktails and appetizers and live jazz since this is what was advertised for that evening. I come from VA so it took a while to get to this restaurant with the traffic and all but I did my best to get there at a decent time. It was shortly before 7 when I arrived. My friend had a seat and had been ordering. She purchased some fish nuggets which were good, not great but good. I asked the waitress who appeared very young, timid, and suffering from ADHD or CRS(Can't Remember S***), either way we had a rough time getting her to remember to bring things too our table, ie, plates, hot sauce, drinks, etc... When I asked her about a happy hour special on drinks, she didn't know. Time was dwindling so by her having to go up to bar to ask if there were happy hour specials was ridiculous. Wait staff should know ALL specials going on that day. If not, then that is clearly a management/training issue that needs to be corrected immediately. So she finally comes back at 6:58 and says that the Rum Punch was the "Happy Hour" drink special. Ok, so I asked could she rush and put that in for me. 15minutes later, (I guess they had to fly to Jamaica to get it) I finally get my drink. It was ok, mainly juice and served in a plastic cup. Now I'm GROWN so I have a problem with restaurants/bars serving me anything in a plastic cup, even water. Where are the glasses? My friend ordered a Cosmo and same thing, a plastic cup with a straw. Now I don't know, but Proud Mary shouldn't be so "Proud" when adults coming to have adult beverages can't even get a real martini glass. Ok, so let's move on to the ambiance. We sat outside, mosquitos were out and the sun was setting. Where are the citronella candles or something to keep the bugs away? Also, the patio is crazy dark. Why? They had tiki lamps but none were lit. Once again, why? People had to pull out their cell phones to use as light in order to read the menu and their bill. That's nuts. So FINALLY after pitch darkness had set in, someone comes along and start placing these bath candles which were placed in tea cups around on each table. FINALLY but it looked tacky in my opinion but what could we do. We needed the light. Now for the bill. When it did arrive we noticed an $11+ charge for the rum punch, we asked one of the other waiters who would do a on foot "drive-by" and ask, "Is everything alright" as he whizzes by our table like he was running a marathon. When we were able to actually catch him we said that the bill shows a high charge for that drink and wanted to know what the happy hour drinks specials cost since PM doesn't display any happy hour menus. He then proceeds to tell us that they don't have a Happy Hour...HUH? WHAT? Ok, now I'm really confused. The waitress said they did. Now it's time to ask for a manager. A few minutes later a woman appears who was very friendly and stated that she was the "Supervisor" promptly corrected the check and knocked off about $5 from that drink. I don't like confusion at a place I pay good money to dine out. I can stay home and prepare my own food and drink but when you go out you would hope that the establishment know this is why they're in business. You have to give people the total experience, ambiance, good food, knowledgeable staff, etc. Don't confuse the hell out of your customers and give them slow to no service. I would not return here and wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. I'm sorry Proud Mary. You have to do better. You may want to contact Restaurant Impossible or Bar Rescue for some help. And I mean that sincerely. This place could really be nice with some help. Maybe then I will return. Best of luck and hope you can do better in the future.

So first lets say #tucked away! This was my first time here and it was my birthday dinner. They had a live band that started at 8pm and my reservation was for 9am. As soon as I walked in they made me feel welcomed and special on my big day! There were non-stop shout-outs which made me oh so important. Next up was the food I had a party of 12 ppl and everyone loved their food selections. I personally had the Captains seafood and everything was broiled to perfection. The drinks were awesome and the bill was reasonable for a party that size. I will definitely be returning once the weather breaks and I can sit at the tiki bar!

I hosted a birthday brunch here last Sunday, April 6th as I have heard many things about the restaurant and I love to support black business. I must say that the restaurant was very accommodating my party and even allowed me to increase the size by 4 people at the last minute. The waitress was also very friendly. I must say that I was disappointed that brunch was advertised as a Jazz Brunch and there was neither a jazz band nor jazz music played. My part was 20 people and there was only one waitress. The items that were advertised on the menu is not what was provided. A few of us ordered chicken and waffles which stated that there were 2 waffles with a half of chicken and we all only received 1 waffle. The chicken was scorched and tasted as though the grease was old and it was also dry and hard. Shrimp and grits as advertised as 4 jumbo shrimp and each person received 1 shrimp and some shrimp that were cut up on top of cold hard grits. The seafood omelette stated that it contained crab meat and shrimp but there was one cut up shrimp and no crab meat. The menu also stated that red potatoes would be served but people received cold hash browns. There was a 20 minute gap from the time the first person received their food to the time the last person received theirs. I was shocked that a restaurant, on the waterfront, with linen tablecloths, would serve condiments in plastic SOLO containers. The waitress did her best to accommodate everyone by giving separate checks, although she charged people for the wrong food and told everyone that there is nothing that she could do to fix it. I have birthday brunch every year and have never experienced everyone not enjoying their food. I am hoping that there was something going on that day that resulted in the horrible food.

I went with some friends to Proud Mary July 18, 2014 with some friends. The food was GREAT!! We had catfish, salmon and shrimp. No complaints. I had a very tasty cocktail, it was stong enough where you did not feel like you were drinking juice. I got another one later in the evening, it did not compare to the first on :(. Now on the business side, I called on three different occasions to attempt to make a reservation. Each time I was told someone would call me back. Finally I spoke with the owner and advised that I would like outdoor seating. When I arrived at the restaurant I was told my name was not on the list even though I spoke with the owner just days before. The positive thing is that they were still able to accomodate us and the seats did not obstruct our view of the live band. By the way, the band was awesome. Makale was our server. When he came over to our table he was very pleasant and eager to serve. I advised him of the reviews I read on Yelp regarding the service being subpar (slow to be exact). He assured that we would not have that problem. He definitely proved his statement be true. He was attentivie to our needs, even if that meant havig to go back and forth. Makale is definitely a jewel. He was very personable and professional.

Ok, we like to go for a run at Fort Washington Park, so on our way home hungry decided to check out this place. The location is great, right on the water, although the marina have seen better times that's for sure. Parking was no problem, but it was in the middle of the day. We sat at the bar and order drinks and some appetizers. Drinks came in plastic cups, which I am not crazy about. The bar staff was very nice and attentive, no complaints. Now, the food is a different story!!!! Every item we ordered was below average. Spinich and crab dip definitely not fresh and suuuuuper salty, fish nuggets too much breeding. My hubby ordered BLT, not impressed, fries must have been made an hour before or so. The decor of the place again very basic. Ok we are world travelled and like and know our food. Proud Mary won't be our dinning destination. If they want stay in business and be successful they need to hire a new Chef!!!! There are better places on the water with much much better food and prices. I may go back for a drink at the bar since we live around the corner but not to eat. They said the place re opened two years ago after the old one burned down, so it's fairly new and definitely lacks a character. I guess it wouldn't hurt to invest in some plants on the deck and a Margarita machine.

I went here for a birthday celebration for my best friend after my son went for Fathers Day and gave awesome reviews. We had reservations for 6:30 and traffic made us late on a Friday evening. I called to inform them we would run about 15 minutes late. We got there at exactly 6:45. No one was there to seat us so we waited.manager came 15 mins later said we would be helped shortly. Finally got seated at 7:15.only two other people were in the dining room but outside deck area was full.no service for another 15 mins. Finally got drinks about7:45. Placed appetizer and food order all together since kids and adults were starving. Had to again get manager to get at least corn muffins by8:25. Food finally came and most was wonderful except crab cakes. One bite by four of us and we all agreed they were spoiled. We returned them again to the manager who came out and offered something else and disputed they were fine.by that time we were exhausted and said we would just eat the rest of the Fishermans Platter. The waiter said he was trying to get the manager to adjust the bill. By 9:30 my son who had been standing by the kitchen trying to get help from manager. Server Someone anyone. Opened the kitchen door and said we needed the check NOW they took $5.00 off of each platter . Never saw manager again and we left. Worst service ever. Corn muffins baked potato and chix fingers were the best part of our meals Crab soup had very little crab in it but probably a good thing. I will say entertainment was good go for that and drinks but no service should be expected

very poor service and the food was at best flat out horrible i think i should have just went to mcdonalds
(1)Aisha M.
I really like this spot. I really don't want to write this review because I would hate for it to be overrun with people. It's a nice secluded spot at the Ft. Washington Marina. We sat out on the deck and watched the water and enjoyed the scenery. The food was just okay but I could see myself coming here to sit for a while and enjoy a few bottles of wine and appetizers with friends.
(3)Natalia M.
The worst "restaurant" I've gone to, no exaggeration! It took 30 mins to get the drinks, 1 hour to get appetizers and another hour to get entrees. I don't mind the wait if the food is really good, but it was horrible! After appetizers (muffins were all right, calamari were definitely refried and very hard to chew) my husband and I wanted to go somewhere else, but since we were attending a birthday party we had to stay, so we ordered fried prawns and crabcakes. The food was oversalted, overfried, just disgusting fast food quality. Needless to say the service was horrible as well, waiters are rude and nowhere to be seen, I guess why put an effort if a 20% tip already included in the bill? The only pro of this place is the beautiful view, everything else is a thumbs down. We're never going back, proud Mary should keep on rolling...past this restaurant!
(1)Kim P.
I went to Marys over the weekend. Great food great drinks!! They were very busy. The server told us this was their first weekend opening entire restaurant. I had the corn muffins.... Proud Mary punch and a stuffed salmon.. My group loved everything about mary. Keep up the great work! We will return.
(5)Jasmine M.
Let me start by saying I have only been here for Sunday brunch, but I loooooove this place. The unlimited mimosas are great, the staff is wonderful, and atmosphere is spectacular. The food...um large portions but nothing to write home about, but everything else makes up for the food.
(5)Vincent V.
Excellent Service! The restaurant is cozy and has a family ambience. Besides dinner, which was amazing, we were entertained by live music which was equally amazing (Be'la Dona - all female band). Great experience. If you are not part of a group (in that case reservation is a must) come early because it does get packed.
(4)Colleena C.
Love this hidden gem! You would never even know it was back there! The food is great, the music is always on point and the water scene/party atmosphere make it a "must-go!" I've had the fried chicken, fried pork chops, kale greens, wings, shrimp, fish, everything I have ever tried there tasted good. If you happen to locate it, you must go and partake!

I really enjoyed the live band on last Friday! I ordered wings, broccoli, and cornbread. Everything was delicious! The seasoning on the wings was very flavorful. The cornbread was complimented with a honey butter. Broccoli was perfectly cooked. Nice place near the water to unwind, eat great food and listen to live music.

It was okay...I went for a brunch and if I return...I probably wouldn't go for brunch, but maybe try dinner or something. Now, I had the catfish nuggets off the regular appetizer menu and these were GREAT! For my entree I had the chicken and waffles....I can say I was a bit disappointed with this. I did my 2 waffles and 1/2 chicken but it was cut up in pieces and the grease it was cooked in was old....like day before oil, which is confusing as we were the first group there and I kind of feel like they would have started the day off with fresh cooking oil...the chicken was dry, smelled and tasted scorched and you could see the burnt specks of seasoning from old cooking oil (and if you are a chicken fryer you know exactly what I'm saying). A few other people got fish and grits...the grits were extremely thick and the shrimp on top where cut up so I'm thinking they may have gotten 2 shrimp. The absolute gag was one of the ladies ordered a side of grits and one crab cake for her meal and it cost $30. I don't mind paying for good food, but I do think that for the price, the food would have been cooked with a little more love...I'm not totally putting this place down, the atmosphere was nice, the staff was cool, but the food was very disappointing...especially when I have heard so many good things about this place. Also, there is really no parking...its kind of a "get in where you fit in" type parking...which is understandable I guess as it's at a marina...but I initially thought I was at the wrong location as it looked like a boat graveyard or maintenance yard. And for the ladies, please be careful if you wear heels to this place, the gravel, dirt and rocks in the parking area getting to the door will be murder on your feet.

I had that "Where am I going?" feeling as I went deeper into the woods of Fort Washington, way off of the main highway, and far from any commercial areas. As I passed through a clearly residential area, I found ... even deeper woods. Then the marina entrance appeared, I saw Proud Mary's and my faith in GPS was restored. I walk in, and it's a quaint little waterfront Maryland restaurant. Nice looking, but what's that sound? Now that you mention it,why is this parking lot packed - it's Wednesday afternoon? Oh - there's a live jazz/go-go band out back until 10pm and they are cranking! There are at least 200 people out here - never would have gueseed it. I only made it to the patio area and couldn't stay long enough to eat, but I never would have guessed that a huge Wednesday evening event was here. Lots of people-watching opportunities, and it's clear that people are there to have a good time. I'm not sure that 5 inch heels are recommended on a gravel parking lot or wooden pier/patio, but most women were wearing them, and I'm not going to argue. Next time, I'll plan ahead for the drive here and spend more time - it looks like a scenic spot to have dinner and a fun party on a Wednesday.

I was in on 11/16/14 for gospel Sunday brunch. The atmosphere was great and the service was good. Corn muffins are awesome! Our food was OK. My mother in law ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was a bit over cooked and dry. Her waffle was definitely over cooked. My son and I had the Southern breakfast. This was a pretty good dish however the potatoes could have used a bit more seasoning and my son's sausage was still pink on the inside. Luckily he didn't want it anyway. All in all the experience was nice. We may be back to try dinner.

Went here for my birthday. This place made it unhappy. LOL. I got a Proud Mary punch, Fried chicken dinner with greens and sweet potatoes. Oh yeah and some cream of crab soup. Let's start off with the service...horrible. The waiter came to the table 3 times. Once to take the order, once to bring the food, and lastly to get the check. Now on to the food...the crab soup was good. Flavorful like they knew it was their thing. The fried chicken was fried chicken...it was cooked in burned oil and you could taste it. It was not seasoned well. If you changed the grease and sprinkle some salt and paprika on it....it could be good. They should consult me on a lesson of making good fried chicken. The sides was collard greens and mashed sweet potatoes. Both disgusting and bland. The greens tasted canned, if they weren't canned...hell the person who prepared them needs to have their hands chopped off. The sweet potatoes weren't too bad...could have used some sugar or agave nectar or something to enhance the taste. They had a corn muffin that was decent. The drinks were Ok, but they were overpriced. I didn't have any seafood...but all of the seafood dishes looked great. Maybe that's what I should have gotten. Maybe if I go back I will. As far as the location, it is half decent on the Potomac in the back of a neighborhood. It's like the Black Sea...not like the Eastern Hemisphere Black Sea...but like black people by the sea. LOL. I think this is where the negroes park their boats. Never knew negroes had boats. But that's a different discussion that has nothing to do with the restaurant and that is the comedic genius inside of me babbling. This place is worth checking out...

Me and my friends went to celebrate our friend birthday. I had been there before so I expected excellent service as before but it had been a while. It took about 45 minutes to get a drink, we finally went to the bar and order drinks The appetizers took a long time and finally when the appetizer arrived it was not what we ordered and also it was cold.. We asked to speak to the manager , 30min later the manager finally came over to talk with us but he obviously didn't want us back because he offered NO restitution for the bad experience...and we will not be returning here. . After 2 hour we returned the appetizer paid for the drinks and left. WORST SERVICE EVER...

We went here the other day for a Thursday happy hour. Proud Mary's seems to be going down hill. The crowd is changing, every time you go there something on the menu has changed for the worse! The happy hour special may as well not be called specials (for ex. $5 for 5 wings) and now you can only get happy hour specials at the bar, good luck finding a seat! The regular menu prices are ridiculous! Im hoping they will turn things around and do things to bring the consumer back, not drive them away, this place could potentially be one of the great spots to go to in SoMD

4.5 stars Tucked away in a big boathouse near the Fort Washington Marina sits a little jazzy gem. At first, it can be a little difficult to find. We went around the back where we saw most of the commotion and people congregated. However, Proud Mary is best reached by going through the doors in the front. Once inside, I was delightfully surprised. Proud Mary is quiant--a little tight even for a Friday night--but this place has a lot of heart & soul. Before we even looked at the menu we were bobbing our heads and stomping our feet to the band playing that night. They were loud, they were live, and they were funky. I wasn't expecting such a great sound at such a small place. The crowd seemed pleasant, grown, and sexy. It looked like a good spot for the 30-35+ crowd to put on a lil something and come have a good time. Which is fine for me and the boo, although we're both a little younger. So it depends on what you're looking for. But I really enjoyed the vibe and feel of the place. It kind of felt like a nicely decorated basement party, only in a boat and with soulful music classics. Although the dim lighting and the soulful love songs set the mood well, I wouldn't necessarily come here on a first date. In the front room we were sitting so close to the band, we had to yell at each other to have a conversation. But there also wasn't that much room to get up and dance. So it was better to just sit quietly and enjoy the music. It looked as if there was another room with a bar but I'm sure you couldn't hear the band as well over there. Started off dinner right with the spinach & crab dip appetizer. And I can say hands down this is the best spinach dip I've had in my life. The crab added an extra element without being too crabby or overbearing. I would come back just for the music and the spinach dip. The rest of our meal was good--no complaints. But it also wasn't the best thing ever. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I got the seafood platter. The butter corn muffin things were heaven in a wrapper. I think the food, which was good, was actually my least favorite part of the experience. Which is why I went with the 4.5 stars instead of a perfect 5. ***Also, I came here with a restaurant.com coupon (which they have since discontinued) and which gave me $50 worth of food for $25. And even with that coupon we paid $50 so this place can obviously get a bit pricey.

Located on the Marina, great obeisance, inside is small and compact. There isn't enough parking because the boats take up most of the lot. The servers need classes on customer service. There isn't much of an menu and for the prices of their seafood dishes the price isn't worth the portions that they give you. The pork chop is a good meal to order. The Mac and cheese and collard greens are great. The loaded baked potatoes are good. The bathrooms are nasty and need to be upgraded. They look like rest stop bathrooms and it was filthy. The live Jazz band that plays there on Fridays did a wonderful performance. Again the place is small and very cramp, so expect people bumping into you chair and table. The Ribeye grilled steak was extremely too salty, I couldn't eat it. The crab soup was so so not much crab meat in it. Would I go again? Maybe

Amazing Food...simply AMAZING! Try the corn muffins and the seafood ANYTHING, lol!

This place is basically located in a shipyard near the Fort Washington Marina. My parents have lived about 5 miles away from this place since 2001 and JUST discovered it earlier this year. So yeah, still relatively unknown for the most part. That's definitely part of the appeal though. This place is small, quaint, and frankly, delicious. The fam came here for my dad's 50th birthday. It was a Thursday night and pretty quiet. We got the corn muffins to start. Absolutely decadent carb goodness. I had to physically restraint myself after two and a half. Didn't have the butter that came with them (uber-lacto) but the fam said it was delish. For an official appetizer, we got the catfish nuggets and sliders. I'd never had catfish nuggets before, quite a novel concept actually, and they were juicy. The sauce was pretty yum as well. The sliders were MASSIVE, practically a meal in themselves. Even came with bacon. For the meal, I got a scrimp salad, mom got the crabcakes, dad got salmon stuffed with crab (i think), and my brother got fish with veggies (i think it was tilapia). Fwiw, my salad was delish, fresh, and the grilled scrimps were yummy. The real food however, was amaze. My mom's crabcakes were super tasty, not super breaded which was nice. Dad's stuffed salmon was perfectly done, the stuffed crab really complimented the mellow salmon. My brother was being stingy that night so i only had a small morsel of his. It was enough though. Well cooked, not too dry. We left just as karaoke night was beginning. I was simultaneously regretful and relieved. I could tell it was gearing up to be quite the time. All in all, this place is legit. The food is good and the service is decent (our waitress was nice, relatively attentive, but did forget my bro's sweet tea). If you find yourself in the backwoods bumfuck of Ft Wash, give it a shot :)

I visited this place one Saturday with my homegirl for a quick bar session. It ended up being the same day they were having a semi-formal suit & cigar event they had advertised for. It was so hot that day it ended up being a more casual affair. The crowd was nice though and the drinks were average (price and strength). I love the ambiance though... there is NOTHING like drinking a Long Island Iced Tea while overlooking the waterfront. They had a live "mature" go-go band that really set the mood. I do plan on returning, just no rush. The Sunday brunch lineup looks promising.
(4)Shamika G.
If our waiter was good & attentive, I would give this place 5 stars. Best kept secret! The food was good! I had crab & spinach dip & the proud Mary fried shrimp. Loved it all! They also make their drinks strong! They had a live band on the inside of the restaurant & a DJ outside. It also has a nice view of the water. Very intimate setting. Perfect for dates with the boo....or side piece....whatever floats your boat lol. Oh!!! I almost forgot, you get a free glass of wine if you check in there!

I dont like this place anymore. I grew up in Ft. Washington, so I remember this place from when I was a kid. Now it has become rather popoular and many poeple go here from Mon - Sun. The food is OK, crabcakes are good, wings are good, but many of the side items are just kind blah. With the ever growing popularity of Proud Mary's its become way too (how can I say this in a nice way) *urban* with their bike nights and lil bands that play there and they cram as many people as they can in the inside dinning areas, Its just all too much now. And dont get me wrong, I am "urban", hell I livein SE, DC. Its just that I remember this was a nce, quiet, tucked away place that was really chill and romantic. Now its just another "spot". Just my .02

I'm a local and have been going here for years and really wanted to give them five stars but I'm going with 4.5 stars. The food is very good, especially the Fried Chicken and the Crab Cakes. The ambiance is great, with the view of the Marina and you feel as though you have found a tucked away gem, that only few know about. The Service can be a bit slow, and the music from the band can be a bit loud to hold a conversation if you are seated in the main area. It was my brothers birthday, and the waiter even brought him a slice of cake on the house. The food here is just as good or better than many of the so called high end places in DC, it's just a little more rough around the edges.
(4)Alisha B.
This place isn't that bad. There isn't consistency in the food, you have to get them on the right day. I had to try it a couple of times to even be able to give them an ok. If it wasn't for the bartender (I believe her name is V), this place would not get 3 stars and would probably only get one. The decor is a tacky almost buffet style, that looks like someone missed trying to turn it into a nice upscale seafood restaurant off of a marina by a LONG shot. The food is mediocre at best, and drinks truly depend on who you get them from. It seems to be a pretty good spot for happy hour. I ordered the crabcakes, which were not the best but not the worst either, more filling than described. My husband ordered the fried chicken, which was a little on the dry side. The second time we went, it was for a "Charity Crab Feast", which was a complete joke! Crabs were overcooked, and instead of having the servers continue bringing the crabs they had them serving drinks, but only if you had cast. The waitress we had, didn't even know the drink selections available, and was quiet lazy. Lazy staff was something that was evident the first time we came here. They have a DJ Thursdays and Friday's I believe for happy hour. If your not going for happy hour, the drinks, and maybe the chicken wings (again, depending on who's cooking), I would give this a pass. But mad love to V the bartender, because she is AWESOME!

Something about Mary! Another birthday dinner with the fam and to be honest I was not that excited to be duped by another over priced sub par seafood dinner. From my past reviews places like Mo's in Baltimore, Blue Dolphin in Crofton for me- all a bust! This is a small restaurant with outdoor seating at a small marina in Oxen Hill, nothing fancy. I get there early and I overhear someone complaining about the bathroom (minus one star) and I'm thinking aaahh sh*t here we go again! The fam shows up, we order and have their famous "soft as cake" corn muffins with a honey butter. Tasty! The Crabby Platter, all lump crab cake artfully drizzled with roumalade sauce and 5 golden brown fried shrimp and vegetable medley (steamed and lightly sprinkled w/ butter and salt) accompanied by a bake potato as big as two mighty fist. I was totally in shock! The drinks, you can get a glass of Relax Riesling for $5, yeah??!! And I had a REAL Georgia Peach, THEY'RE HEAVY HANDED OVER HERE !! At that moment I immediately took MARY off my bullsh*t list. THIS WAS SOME OF THE BEST SEAFOOD THAT I HAVE EATEN IN A LONG TIME! While this place is not sophisticated upscale dining, this meal could have easily been transferred to a more expensive restaurant and no one would know the wiser. The portions aren't huge, but I will take quality over quantity any day. Big wheel keep on turning Proud Mary keep on burning...YEAH!
(4)Adrienne J.
Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. I got the chicken blt since the waiter told me he had not had a dish i asked him about since he doesn't get a discount). It was good enough but i saw other tables sending good back and my friend had to send her drink back. The best thing we had was the corn muffin, it was SOOOO GOOD!!!!! The place is hard as hell to find, you go down this narrow, winding road (i could only imagine driving at night when the deers are out). The view is peaceful but nothing to write home about, just boats in a dock. The pluses were the friendly service and you get a free glass of wine with this yelp order. But i probably won't be back.
(2)Peggi S.
I was here last night for the first time and it will NOT be the last, I love this little hidden gem! Food was excellent, the live band, the drinks will get your head right! can't wait to go on a Friday evening. I had the Salmon with stuff crab, and the greens were almost as good as my mama's :).
(5)Candice N.
Don't do it! I'm not sure if this is a secret clubhouse but i definitely needed a treasure map to get there. After several dark winding roads and what appeared to be dead ends we made it to the unlined gravelly parking lot. Arrived inside at 8:30 and ordered 2 appetizers at 9:20 I still didn't have them. Was stuck sitting between the live band (horrible) and the dj outside. Just what you want when you're starving to death...to have 2 different songs blasting in your ears. I left $20 for a glass of wine and a beer just because I didn't have the energy to wait for change.

So here's the real deal...First time visit 5/25, late afternoon. Requested outside seating, which is on the tent-shaded back patio to view the dirty brown water and boats (lol-but im serious though) and were seated by the casually dressed guy (more on him later). 10min later, casually dressed guy said a waiter would be right with us. 15min later, said waiter arrived. He seemed to be a very nice gentleman who tries, but his service was not up to par with the "supposed atmosphere" of this restaurant. The inside rooms are surprisingly very beautiful and appear to be upscale. We only saw male waiters working the outside deck, and they were all dressed very nicely in white button down shirts, black ties, black pants, and nice black shoes. These men were crisp, clean, courteous, and hustling their butts off. Our waiter, however, was out of it and it was clear that our table was an afterthought to him, because apparently he had tables inside also. So, he takes our drink orders, but doesn't know the price of none of the alcoholic drinks. I request he find out and let me know when he returns with our drinks and to take our order. 20min later, he has not returned. I request the manager, and the casually dressed guy (black graphic t-shirt and jeans or dark pants and flip flops) comes over with a plate of complimentary cornbread-apparent apology gesture, with the waiter!, and introduces himself as the manager. I explained to him that we had been waiting far too long for service, have only seen our waiter one time, and still have not received our drinks or had our orders taken, which he already knew the timeframe since he was the one who originally seated us to begin with. The manager was very apologetic and said he would work with our waiter to assist the table. We both ordered fried chicken with greens and sweet potatoes and an extra side of mac and cheese (you can only substitute the yams and/or greens for rice, no other option). They gave us 3 very large pieces of chicken, which were fresh, hot, and seasoned very well. The greens have a slight spicy kick and I was delighted. I do not eat yams at all and never have, but I tasted theirs anyway, and ate the whole side. They are very sweet and I have 30 sweet teeth The mac and cheese was a fairly large portion and was great. Their cornbread muffins are large and taste DIVINE! But here's the major problem - Their food is way too expensive: fried chicken meal is $16.99, all other sides are $3.99, except mac and cheese which is $4.99. 2 cornbread muffins are $1 and the drinks are almost $3. Oh by the way, their alcoholic drinks cost $11!!!!!!! 2 fried chicken meals, 2 mac and cheese sides (since you cant substitute), 2 cornbread muffins, 2 drinks, and 1 alcoholic drink came to a total of $70!!!!. Now, I love me some Oohhs and Aahhs-DC, Carolina Kitchen-Largo, MD, and Dugue's Southern Diner-Clinton, MD, and while I would actually put the food I tasted that day from Proud Mary on this list too, those prices just do not make sense, when they are the most expensive. If they created take out dinner specials, I am positive they would receive far more business for all the southern cuisine loving people off 210 as a weekly dinner choice, but with prices like that, they will always be the sort of restaurant that you will only visit sparingly. The manager certainly turned our experience from very negative to quite positive, as he genuinely helped out to the best of his ability. Aside from his attire, in contrast to the other employees, he was instrumental in not losing our business forever, but unless other deals or specials are advertised, Proud Mary may continue to turn off other would-be regulars to only visit when they have much more change to spare and are not willing to drive into DC for their soul food fix.

It depresses me to write a review like this. Fort Washington is my hometown and I go out of my way to showcase the gems that would otherwise go un-noticed in a Yelp world biased towards DC and NoVa. Southern MD gets no love. So I'm on a mission. But this is one of those stories than we can file under 'fail.' I've known about Proud Mary for many years. You hear its name like a low whisper on neutral faces. You think that maybe people are trying to keep it a secret. That's it's wonderful and they don't want some barbarian like you to know where it is. The lack of information intrigues you. It becomes sexy. Then I read the Yelp reviews for the place. It averages about 2 stars. Two elite Yelpers, however, gave it good marks. The rest slammed this place. My mom, who's been to essentially every restaurant in the DC area, tells me she was here a few years ago and it sucked. Like a fool, I had to see for myself. From minute 1, it was bad. It was real bad. I'm not going to say that the staff here is rude; I'm going to say that they were extremely ROUGH around the edges. I can see, however, why some people wouldn't think they were being rude. I think, in reality, they just have no idea what basic customer service is. And that is a training issue/staffing issue. The owners need to get this crew to understand that there are service level standards that must be met. Otherwise, they come off as a bunch of amateurs. And this, this is such a shame! The view here is a pacifist utopia. The water at this part of the Potomac, which this restaurant overlooks, is clean, calm, healthy-looking. The boats docked at the marina provide a pretty backdrop. And its location alone, makes you feel like you're miles from the city, lightyears from your worries. But the way this restaurant executes what is essentially success on a platter is dismal. It embarasses me, actually. Oh, and the food? It's just not good enough to erase the rest of what is, essentially, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a while.
(1)Damian K.
Maybe we went on a bad day, but the service was very slow. The fried pok chops lacked seasoning and the sweet potato mash was too sweet. The collard greens were not good either. My wife's fried chicken tasted like fish, so obviously the oil was tainted. We won't be back.
(1)Jax S.
Corn muffins should be dessert, not just appetizers; totally awesome! Had the fried chicken and sides, will definitely be back.
(4)Ros G.
Food is good if you can wait long enough to get it. Word of advice: do NOT go with a party over 4 people. This restaurant is not equipped to handle a large party. Our party should not receive food in 3 shifts after each is completely finished with their dinners. Did not enjoy this meal.
(1)O A.
Because the fried crab cake was excellent I rate Proud Mary at 2 stars....if not for the crab cakes it would be a solid 1 star. Upon arrival there was a loud private party going on in the front dining room that made you wonder if you were in the right place or in a restaurant at all. We were ushered to a dining room in the back which was surprisingly empty for 8pm on a saturday night. To my annoyance there was a drunk and extremely loud couple at the bar that were a distraction and a spectacle. There wasn't a proper menu. The multi-page menu on the website, that was complete with drink menus, was replaced with a single page menu with about a dozen options. No descriptions, no drink menu, no info on side dishes, and a waitress that was either unfamiliar with the menu or unable to arituculate herself properly. With the help of my smart phone I was able to order. The food, except the crab cake, was bad. Everything they serve comes with dry rice and tasteless veggies. The Mac n cheese was bad although I had been told it can be good. The shrimp were bland, the fish was marginally acceptable, drinks from the bar were not the greatest. My waitress tried to do her Job properly but I couldn't ignore the lenght of time it took for a glass to be refilled andhow much time she spent socializing. When she brought me a bill that included 20% gratuity...and I had a party of 2!!....I just about lost it. $100 for lack luster seafood, half-ass service, in a wanna-be upscale ambiance?!?! NEVER AGAIN WILL I RETURN....This restaurant is a joke
(2)Debbie F.
I am giving it one star because I can't give it anything less. Actually, the fried chicken and mashed sweet potatoes were fine. I went to Proud Mary's on yesterday for my cousin's birthday. We ordered the catfish nuggets for an appetizer and my cousin thought they were bland potatoes at first taste. They were dry and tasted like cardboard. For our entree we ordered the salmon with broccoli and rice. Everything was overcooked. The salmon and rice was hard and the broccoli was mushy. We returned that for the fried chicken with mashed sweet potatoes and greens. As I said early, the chicken and potatoes were good; however, the greens were salty and gritty. Obviously, the greens hadn't been properly cleaned. I ordered the corn muffin, remembering how they used to taste, but mine was hard and dry. Their was no moisture to be found in them. The butter didn't ever help. I discovered that they were under new management. Pround Mary's has seen the last of me.

The food is not worth the price, especially the crab cakes, soups and the greens. Nothing tastes fresh there. The drinks are expensive and watered down. They do not allow substitutions and when you are not happy with an item, they do not offer a refund. Go either to the restaurants at the National Harbor or the Chart House across the Harbor in Alexandria for great food, atmosphere and views of the harbor.
(1)Kristina G.
This is a nice quaint dinner spot that I enjoyed with family. I will say that it is on the pricey side if you want to order seafood. But, it is very good. I had the crabcakes and they wore devine. Hardly any filling and lots of crabmeat! I ate off a friends fried chicken, and all I can say is WOW! The seating in the restaurant did not seem very spacious but there is an outside bar area closer to the dock where you can sit. They also have live jazz inside the restaurant.
(3)rolda d.
My husband and I were there last Wednesday night for our date night. We heard of the live Reggae band and wanted to check it out. I ordered the calamari for starters, and the broiled seafood platter as my entree. My husband had the grilled shrimps for appetizer, and for his main course he had the salmon. Of course we shared, and almost everything was delicious, except the greens. I loved the the fact that it was not over cooked, but it was a tad bit salty. They say you can't please everybody, and thats so true. If you really stop to think of the location, i think it's worth every penny we spent. The problem is, there aren't to many decent places around for mature people to get their groove on. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and we will definitely be going back. If you're looking for good food, drinks, entertainment and great atmosphere, Proud Mary is the place to be.. I do agree though, the staff could do with a little one on one training. That's the only reason they got four stars. Also, I normally don't do reviews, but my husband requested it, and I was happy to comply, because we both enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

This restaurant/bar is tucked away on a quiet cove off the Potomac River. The setting is wonderfully rustic with a nice view. If not for the waterfront setting I would not have give it ONE star. I took my family by boat to this spot last Thursday night. I thought, great we can sit outside. Mistake #1: it the music and DJ was so loud we could could not eat outside. So we moved to the inside restaurant. I thought were moved into a dining room for Louis IV. I could not believe we were 15 feet from the water. I said to my wife: "what were they thinking when the designed this place." The decor was abysmal. The food was equally bad. We were looking for a casual waterside spot to have a casual fun dinner. Why the owners did not take advantage of their locale is beyond me. Sadly this place misses on all counts. As a PS, the food was also expensive.

Two weeks ago after completing a kayaking tour with the company next door, my friends and I thought we would eat at what is quite a charming restaurant riverside. However, much to our dismay, we waited for 45 minutes without a morsel of food being brought to our table. When we informed the waiter we would be leaving, he was great by the way, a manager did not insist on speaking to us. Our drink tab was not reduced...nothing. We left the restaurant hungry and in search of dinner at 9 p.m. Needless to say, we will never go there again.

After driving down a wooded road hoping no deer jumped out we finally reached Proud Mary's, the parking lot was some what of a turn off due to the gravel rocks, pot holes, and a rack of abandoned looking boats. We were hesitant of even going inside but thought what the heck lets give it a try. I was pleasantly surpised and satisfied with the atmosphere inside. We sat in the tiki bar area and even tho it was cold outside, it was nice and toasty. The food was good especially the crabcakes but it took about an hour to get our food but the waitress came back quite often apologizing for the back up in the kitchen and even offered us a free drink to accomodate us for the long wait.....Overall I would definitely go back maybe when the weather is nice to really enjoy the marina.

I find it hilarious that people still come here and there are even some who say the food is actually good. I've been here probably about 3-4 times in the past with my mother who happens to love this place for some reason (think the views and live music mostly but who knows). So despite the mediocre food and service, we make an annual appearance there for her bday. The first time we went it was around 2012. Even then, the quality of food did not justify the insane prices, but some entrees were at least edible. Now things have gotten worse which I couldn't think would be possible. On our most recent trip and most likely last, the service was pretty bad as usual. The only reasonable tasting appetizer are the fried chicken wings which came out at the same time with the main meal despite asking explicitly in advance we wanted them before our main food. I had some kind of shrimp and crab cake platter which totaled around 30 bucks or so. You get 4-5 small pieces of shrimp and a miniature crab cake that came out just below room temperature. Spouse had another entree which I can't remember but took it back because it was mediocre. My mother had a dry piece of fish which she said was just ok. Wife took back her entree and just asked for a chicken salad which came with 2-3 pieces of small cut up chicken pieces. You could go to longhorn steakhouse and get a better kid's chicken salad for half the price. During the night, our waiter disappeared for about 20 minutes or so. So things were pretty mediocre as expected and at least this establishment is consistent with that regard. At the end of the night, we finally convinced Mom that this was no longer a viable option to celebrate her special day. So thank you Proud Mary, for the memories of overpriced seafood, mediocre service, and cold entrees. I will cherish these moments for years to come....

You can definitely make a meal out of appetizers here. Give me the bayou catfish tenders, sizzling chicken wings, southern greens, mac+cheese, sweet corn cake muffins, and I'm good to go. Located on the Fort Washington Marina, this place is very lowkey -- which I like A LOT. It's always nice to enjoy good food without all the ruckus and riff raff the city can sometimes bring. Perfect for celebrations and weekend lunches.

I live very close to Proud Mary and am disappointed that it cannot provide a better experience because there is so much potential. Terrible beer choices, awful food, bad service. I have found if you go just when they are opening on a Saturday afternoon (noon?) and don't mind drinking Heineken, you may have a pleasant experience, provided you don't eat anything. They don't even stock Corona which for some reason I find to be particularly annoying. And their double patty veggie burger appetizer is just as weird and nasty as it sounds.

This restaurant is tucked away in Ft. Washington, it has great views. The food is bland and did not please my palate. I had the shrimp dinner with fried shrimp. The shrimp were fried just right but lacked seasoning. I was not impressed and isn't sure if I would return. This place is great for drinks sand appetizers.

I was blown away. The food was to great and the location made it all that much better. It truely is a hole in the wall or well the woods. Driving back it seemed like you were going to someones backyard for a cookout. Then we pulled up and we were in a marina?! Great atmosphere and great food. I have tried just about everything on the menu and have never been let down, the corn cake is the best thing in Southern Maryland! spread the cinnamon butter on it and float off to heaven.. As a first meal it would be great to try the Tilapia Crab Calypso it is INCREDIBLE and wash it down with real southern sweet tea (if you're from the south and like sweet tea you WILL enjoy it, defintely not the yankeefied sweet tea you find up here !!)

I visited Proud Mary with a few girlfriends on a Friday night when a band was playing. I'll just say, overall the food was good. Not spectacular but good. The muffins however --- incredible. The restaurant itself is okay, but the service is really very lacking. In fact, we sat down and NEVER saw a server. The BARTENDER (KIM) happened to be walking by and noticed we didn't have menus or anything and took it upon herself to take care of us for both food and drinks. She was very attentive. However, there was no host at the front door, we had to go and FIND someone to tell us the status of seating. We had a 30 minute wait for seating and again, every time I went to check, there was no one at the host stand. I would say it is just okay. Too far a ride from Upper Marlboro to have subpar service. If I lived closer, I might give it another chance. But since I don't I'll keep my Marina visits to Annapolis where the service is better.

Met up with some friends on a Thursday night and arrived at Proud Mary a little after 7:30p.m. There were folks out by the water listening to the Karaoke of mostly ol-school jams. You could tell there are some regulars because they went up to sing every other song. The DJ gave a shout out to the 1st lady and Big Papa (assuming the owners) so much you would have thought he got $100 dollars each time he said there name. Anyway the crowd was easily a 40 and over and with the overpriced drinks you could see why nobody was really saying keep them coming. I ordered a po boy shrimp sandwich with one of their punch specials. Under the impression that I would get something a little better than two pieces of Texas toast with 5 medium shrimp I would have defiantly passed on that dish, especially paying $14+ for it. I would have had better luck hitting Safeway get a pound of seamed shrimp and seasoned with old bay $6.99, and getting some frozen Texas toast,( 8 slices for $2.25) and spreading some Cajun dressing over it and just dumping some frozen fries into a fryer. I believe some places don't understand if we can do this at our house, why should we come to your place and spend money???? Needless to say the folks were cool and nice, but most of the older crowd spots usually are. 1st impression, won't be going back, but did like the place being on the water; however I know there is something better.

I'm definitely a fan of Proud Marys. Now, real talk - where da sam hell is the host/hostess?? I've never seen anyone at that host/hostess stand. Are they in the back, eating the crabcakes and corn muffins (which, by the way, are EPIC) with the brown sugar butter? If so, I'm not mad at 'em. However, can you have them bring a muffin or two to the hostess stand so folks can get a proper (albeit roumalade/cinnamon scented) greeting? Beyond that, the bartender & wait staff have always been great. Mostly young females who have to smile in the face of boisterous, lecherous old "bar groupie" men who believe ordering frog legs equate to a "come up" in status. But they smile and are professional and warm with everyone and are great at making sure the single geriatric clietnelle don't disrupt your service. Kudos to them. The crabcakes are better than crack, cocaine, narcotic (yeah...alla dat). The chef is accomodating if you have a dietary need but the restaurant isn't flexible with side items. If it says it comes with mixed veggies (even if you are having a fat girl moment) then you have to order your carbs on the side, which of course adds to the bottom line. I stuck to the limited option but found myself belting an obnoxious rendetion of J. Hudson's "Where you at" whenever someone's side of mac-n-cheese or sweet tater mash passed my table. That having been said, the menu is over priced for the portion size so I'd definitely stay away from the appetizers (expecially the crab/spinach dip...def. no) and focus your duckets on the "main event" with an upgraded side. With an option to sit outside on the water, rum punch that will make you smack somebody's mama (not mine, she punches back) and a crabcake that is nothing short of their equivalent of the Luther Burger (a la Boondocks)...I'll be back. Hopefully they've found a hostess that hasn't overdosed on the goods and can make it to the host stand by then.

My mother and I took my Dad to Proud Mary for his birthday. I read the previous reviews and was ready if anything popped off lol We were seated promptly and our waitress was very nice. The problem we experienced was the wait for our side item (Sweet Mash Potatoes). Our Entrees were served and we were told that the mash potatoes would be ready in 10 minutes; that never happened! Our sides came out when had taken the last bite of our food! It took them almost an hour to make mash potatoes! The only excuse they could offer was that they were making the mas potatoes (crickets) They did not offer us any remedy for our inconvenience; no desert, or discount on our bill. My parents live in Ft Washington and I am not down there that much to give Proud Mary another chance.

Give an extra star for sitting dockside. Cornbread muffins were good, the rest of the food left lots to be desired. Server was a little "off". I think maybe she might've been the owners sister or something? Only way I can justify her still working there with flighty and aloof skills. This is simply a spot to have a drink, by the water, with no expectations, with Fort Washington's "finest" lol

I went on Easter Sunday and the food was tremendous. Great atmosphere. Waitresses are great.

My boyfriend and I just left Proud Mary Restaurant today, which is Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was live music by Phase 2 band, and they were ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. I plan coming back EVERY Sunday that they continue to play. Today there was a Chaka Khan/Gladys Knight tribute and apparently, they will highlight different artists every week. Our server's name was Yazmine and she was VERY pleasant, even over the loud music. She made sure that we had everything that we needed without being too present at the table. I am only giving it 4 stars because the spinach and crab dip left a little to be desired. Maybe if they left the salsa off, or completely melted the cheddar under the broiler it would look more appealing. It tasted great, it just didnt look very good, and if the chef considered housemade nachos it would be that much better. Overall, a great experience at Proud Mary. Great crabcakes, great view, good staff.

The food in this place is so good; if someone was to leave here without paying they should be charged with grand larceny and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

Went there last night just to sit at the tiki bar and hang out with a friend. Although it took a while for the bartender to acknowledge and then provide service; once he got started it was great. Heavy handed pouring and a nice view will always get me to return. I had the creamy crab soup and have to admit that it was way better than I expected after reading some of the other reviews. I also had lunch there a few weeks ago on the patio with my girlfriend and we really enjoyed it. If you're looking for a no frills place to hang out with a great view from the bar and the patio, then this is the place. Don't expect anything fancy but as long as you're looking for very casual - this is the place. Minus one star for the wobbly table with the useless wad of napkins stuck under the leg. Minus one star for the industrial bathroom/bath house. They really need to renovate the restroom. It looks like a big gas station bathroom with showers. Minus one star for the 40 minute wait for soup.

We sat at bar by the water, chose to serve ourselves. Shrimp, greens, and Mac n cheese incredible!!! Catfish rather bland. Beautiful day. Everyone super friendly and helpful. We will be back!!! Thanks

This place is outstanding great food excellent service I got the captains platter fried. And loved every bite( jumbo shrimp, crab cake and fish fillet ). I didn't even know FT WASHINGTON had a.marina and that's where proud Mary's is very out of the way but very worth the trip.

On Sunday, May 12, 2013, my family and I had reservations for Mother's Day at Proud Mary's Restaurant located in Fort Washington, Maryland. It was a beautiful day to be near the water. The internal ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. The staff was courteous. The praise for this establishment ends there. I have lived in the metropolitan area for almost 20 years and never in my life have I had a more horrible horribly violating customer service experience as the one my family and I experience at this restaurant. The fact that it happen on Mother's Day made it that much worse. To begin with the entrée menu was preset with five meal options at the inflated price of $45. There were approximately four appetizer options and although we were told multiple dessert options where available we later learned it was only one. When requests were made to rotate out vegetable offering for other vegetable offerings management and staff was adamant and firm in their refusal to honor the requests. The entrée offerings and sides were preset and substitutions would not be honored. Sides could be added for and expensive up charge. In hindsight it was at this pivotal point that my family and I should have left the property. When an inquiry was made as to how much a salad alone would be the waitress commented with a smile "it will still be $45 dollars rather you get the meal or not." First of all, at the cost of $45 one would assume that at the very least some type of starter such as dinner rolls would be provided. Lower budget facilities have this as a staple upon arrival and being seated. Sadly this was not the case at Proud Mary's. We could however add some corn muffins at an expensive up charge. The climax of this disappointing experience was the meals. The appetizer offerings were minimal but we selected crab balls. The three crabs balls provided each person were the size of the tip of a woman's thumb and they were greasy. The entrees were dreadfully disappointing in both TASTE and PORTION from the four tiny stuffed shrimp with crab meat to the over cooked and dry salmon with four thin asparagus to the steak and nasty water down collard green mix. The meals were PURE GARBAGE. The shrimp was so small that the crab meat was not actually sliced and placed inside the shrimp but a mini sliver placed on the side. The greens tasted like boiled water with absolutely no seasoning. The dessert offered was simply one...red velvet cake however, before I could sample my cake other family members began to push their plates away and spitting into the napkins. So I didn't even sample the cake. Finally despite our complaints of dissatisfaction a meager $50 was removed from the bill and free drink coupons were supplied. The issue was not about the money as plenty of that was available and at our disposable. It is the lack of cooperation or consideration that should have been provided based upon our obvious level of general disgust. The drink coupons remained on the table. We will NEVER be coming back!!! So if you are visiting or living in the metropolitan area and you are eager to be robbed of your money, to leave an establishment still hungry, to NOT receive any accommodations for requests and be consumed with frustrating disappointment and disgust then give Proud Mary's a try. If you prefer a more pleasant dining experience where you will receive your money's worth in service, portions satisfaction and taste; I suggest you do what me and my family ignorantly failed to do and that is take your business some place else where all parties involved in the transaction can obtain blissful satisfaction.

This really is one of those incredibly well kept secrets, and if it works for a place of this quality (i.e. they have reliable, return customers in this economy), then so be it. And that seems to be the case, based on how busy it seems. Anyway, I spent an evening here... if you see my reviews, this is waaay outside my neck of the woods, but I strongly believe that I'll have to find a way to go back for some reason. First off, the service is fantastic. From entering, to being seated, to the person that gets your water, to your waitress/waiter. And the bartender is nice as well, because the drinks were delicious yet strong as you can stand them. Awesome. I recommend the Proud Mary Rum Punch. We had the sweet corn muffins, and they were among the best I've ever had. I don't really say that kind of thing often, so let that be an example of this place's greatness. I had the 5 cheese mac and cheese, and it was delicious... bit of bread crumbs on top. Magical. My lady friend had the tilapia... in a jerk, cajun type sauce. It was fantastic, I had to try it. Tilapia is a nice safe fish, to the point that its almost bland... doesn't always even seem like real fish... like a fish substitute or something. Anyway, it was fresh and flavorful. I had the ribeye, shrimp, and crab cake stack. First the bad, and why I give only 4 stars even though I'm rambling. I asked for medium rare, it came back on the receipt... it was pretty much well done. I should have sent it back, but everything was too good, and I couldn't bring myself to do so. The crab cake was one of the area's best, and no reason to say that it actually isn't the area's best. It's so quality. It almost falls apart when touching it, no filler, only fresh delicious crab mixture. The shrimp were cajun style and very enjoyable. All of this, and the prices were more than reasonable. There's a great view of the marina, and its just a nice out of the way place to be without going too far off the beaten path. Highly recommended. Cheers.

Wow.... hmmm yeah, so this saddens me as a DC baby, falling back thru to reflect....the crab cake, tilapia, mac n cheese....good. Fried chicken...mehhhhh, sent back. The chef, Lamonte, did everything he could to make it better and his attitude and attentiveness earned them another star. No filler crab cake...yet another star, althought it was about 1.5 inches in diameter.... The waitstaff... very green. Nice crowd but quite obvious they've never experienced dining outside of sayyyyy Applebee's... As always, the view was wonderful...the weather great....

The food was good not spectacular. I am giving it a good rating for the atmosphere of an over thirty professional AA crowd. The outside lounge area was laid back social and fun. Friday night there was a jazz saxophone player. The live entertainment was in the main dinning area, so you have to make a table reservation.

I dined at Proud Mary's today 3/17/12 . Food was good, but the service we received was not good. The waitress was slow to respond to requests, she added other tables tabs to my bill and thought I wouldn't notice, to the tune of just under 100.00 and she kept offering to bring thr table sweet corn muffins but neglected to let us know that each muffin was .99 cents. I will not dine there again.

It looks like a couple of other Yelpers had the same kind of awful experience my family had the day we visited Proud Mary. I won't bore you with ALL the details of our "lunch" (if you can call it that--we arrived around lunchtime but it was nearing dinnertime when we were finally served) but I will say, even if the food was good, which it wasn't, I will never return to this restaurant on principle. It's true that the waterfront view is lovely, but the attitudes of the management are among the worst I've experienced. Of course my party complained about the long wait for service and the food not being up to par. But instead of the mangers (we talked to two of them) apologizing and OFFERING us a discount or other compensation, they were offended that we had the audacity to complain and one of them even said, and I quote, "It's Father's Day and we're extremely packed. You're not the only ones who have to suffer." It seems to me that if your customers are "suffering," even on a busy Father's Day, you need to rethink your approach. Anyway, after much ado but no progress I asked Willie Flannigan, one of the very rude managers, who the owner was, and to my surprise he said "I am." I was shocked because I've worked in customer service capacities before and I was always taught "the customer is always right" and that keeping the customer happy is the first priority in order to maintain the reputation of the business. Clearly, Proud Mary's managers/owners don't care about the restaurant's reputation or continued patronage because my family was treated so poorly that I'm not only Yelping about the place, but I'm in the process of filing a complaint with their management company and the Better Business Bureau. Oh, and I found out that Mr. Flannigan was lying about being the owner. Hopefully, when I get in touch with the real one, he'll care enough about the future of his restaurant to fire the current managers and hire someone to help him figure out how to run a business properly.

I'm not sure if things have changed drastically since the last time these reviews were written, but I have a very different opinion. First I'll start with the good things... The view of the water is lovely. Aaaaaand that's about it. We went to this restaurant on fathers day for a nice family outing, and naturally we expected it to be pretty packed. But when we went inside to be seated, empty tables were all around. My mother had been there before so she knew she wanted to sit in the room with the view of the water, so we asked for a table for 7 in that room. The rude man replied, "no you can't sit there." No explanation. We said, why not, of course and the man proceeded to answer his phone. We were standing there looking at one another, very confused. But we waited until he finished his conversation, then he told us there's no room in there. So we asked if we could wait for a table. His response, "no you can't." We were dumbfounded at this point. Who is this rude host that's telling us we cannot wait for a table. But we brushed it off and said fine, we will sit outside then. We were seated immediately and the umbrella's were nicely arranged to block the sun from our eyes by our very nice waiter named Dag. Then the nightmare continued... We ordered very quickly, but we waited about 45 minutes for our cornbread muffin's to come out. Although they were yummy, I couldn't believe how long we waited for some muffins. An hour after that, my mom and dad felt that they could no longer bear the heat and asked to be seated inside. They weren't expecting to melt in the humidity for that long. Finally, after a total of (and we timed it) 2 hrs, our entrees came out! Which is unheard of. Of course we asked along the way and spoke to one of the ridiculous managers (we will get to that), and we just kept hearing the food is on it's way. When you wait 2 hrs for a meal you are sort of expecting the food to be pretty incredible. No such luck. A few of us ordered the seafood platters which consisted of a fillet of fish, scallops, a crab cake and veggies. The scallops were raw and gross. The fish did not taste fresh, and the veggies were swimming in butter. The crab cake however was delish. One family member ordered the fish calypso, which was a piece of fish buried somewhere under a huge mound of saucy seasonings, and when I say seasonings, I mean every single season you could ever thing think of must have been in that sauce! It was salty as all get out, and COMPLETELY inedible. So he didn't eat it. This is where things got really bad. We tried to return the dish and nobody would even listen. We were so disappointed with the whole experience we asked to speak to the manager again to have 20% taken off of our meal. The waiter tried to get him, and get this, the manager would not come to our table! Have you ever heard of such a thing? So a few of us went inside to try and talk to him and we were completely being ignored. My husband took the bill up to the host, the rude guy that wouldn't seat us, and he was in fact an owner! This man yelled at my husband, told him, he didn't have to nuthin and that he was going to call the cops on us!!!! His words! I couldn't believe it!!! So I found the other manager who was not helpful earlier, to try and have someone let us pay the darn bill so we could get the crap out of there, and she got in my face and told me that we are complaining and that she was annoyed that my parents wanted to move tables and come inside (because they were hot after waiting for their meal for 2 hours), and then she started to say something that sound like she was about to curse at me, and then she said NEVERMIND! And walked in to the kitchen while I was still talking! The owner then proceeded to come over and and yell at all of us and get in our face to the point where another waiter had to hold him back from getting in our faces! He bust through the kitchen doors and was slamming stuff around... this whole scene was unheard of. I have never been treated so badly by an establishment. THE OWNER AND MANAGER OF THIS RESTAURANT HAVE NO CLUE WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS!!!! Sometimes, a customer is dissatisfied with their meal and the service, and all the managers are supposed to say is, how can I help. This place is a joke. And it's such a waste because the location right on the water is wonderful. Stay away from here. How they treat their customers when the customer id dissatisfied says a lot about a business. And this place has no clue. In the end, there was one helpful woman who ended up taking the 20% off our bill and taking off the fish calypso extravaganza salt fest. But why did we have to go through all of that?

The food was good, service was horrible. Nice outdoor patio, the place needs some help! Very dull environment, not the best personalities at the bar could be more friendly.

Just left Proud Mary Restaurant tonight (Saturday). The food was excellent but the service was not so good. It took forever for two in our party to get drinks, she never asked my husband and I if we even wanted anything to drink, plus dirty dishes were left on the table. Maybe it was her first day......definitey needs some training. The corn muffins ARE TO DIE FOR! We all liked what we ordered. The musician played a variety of instruments and he was good. Also, the tables in the main dining area are really too close together. We'll try it again for sure. Just to see if the service improves.

If you're desperate for food after getting off the water -- or just need an emergency beer from the rudimentary list of THREE beers or so at the bar -- this place MIGHT suffice... ...but only if you're too tired to care about ANYTHING else here, most notably the worst-possible service and absolutely terrible food. Otherwise, please do NOT go out of your way to visit this place if you don't already have business at the Marina. They have a LOOOOONNNNNG way to go....at least in their outdoor dining area and patio. They've slightly improved their outdoor dockside bar area with a new semi-permanent awning. However, they've chosen really chintzy and cheap plastic bar stools with a fake woven straw texture. Also, the bar appears to be white laminated plywood (I'm pretty sure...). I expect it to start delaminating from beer and the elements pretty soon. The major issues, however, are with the food and the service. First, the food is pretty cheap and sketchy. For example, on our recent, second visit, we ordered the $9 catfish nugget appetizer. They bill it on their menu as "crispy catfish nuggets served with our tangy honey salsa sauce." What we got was a plate of VERY lightly-breaded, non-crispy, unseasoned catfish strips (not nuggets)... with a small bowl of what we're almost 100% sure was cheap (and bad) Pace(TM) picante sauce poured from a jar. We literally laughed about how transparent this ploy was. They at least tasted fresh...but maybe microwaved. We couldn't tell for sure. The staff is absolutely terrible and seem completely untrained. On our recent visit, the outdoor bar was pretty disgusting because the two young bartenders weren't wiping it down AT ALL between customers. This was puzzling, because it wasn't that busy when we arrived. To avoid the food splotches all over the bar, we sat at a little "upper bar" about four feet away from the main bar. Nobody was working the floor in the outdoor area, so I walked a few feet to the main bar to order a single catfish nugget appetizer. The bartender who took my order was coming on shift and seemed preoccupied. She quickly turned away from me without so much as a 'thank you' or a 'coming right up' after writing down the word "catfish"...and then walking three feet (haha) to the computer to type it in. I had to speak loudly to make sure she heard me say we were sitting four feet away at the little upper bar...or so I thought. When the plate of catfish arrived, I wasn't standing in the exact spot where I was when I ordered, but rather was a few feet away (literally!) with my friends at the little upper bar strip. Instead of looking around for half a second to see me, she just let the plate sit behind the beer taps and went about other business. I had to go down to the bar, fight to catch her eye despite the place being dead, and ask what was going on and how long the food was sitting there. She just shrugged and said "a while...I didn't know where you were" and went about other business. We were sitting literally four feet away at a the upper bar and the place was NOT busy. Besides, she had walked by us half a dozen times to go inside on errands. Niiiiiiiccee..... As I said, if you're at the Marina on other business, need an emergency Sam Adams(TM) , and are too tired to wait or drive elsewhere, you might get one here to refresh yourself enough to enjoy the view....then drive elsewhere. In fact, if you bring a cooler to the Marina, you might be better off sitting on in on the docks with your own beer and enjoying the view on your own. I predict this place will go under and be replaced with something much nicer someday...most likely sooner, rather than later.

My husband and I decided to take our 3 year old and try it out for the 1st time. We heard the food was decent from people that live in the area. We were seated right away, however, it took our waiter a minute to come take our order. As my husband was about to get antsy, the waiter came. The food arrived shortly thereafter. All I can say is that we were pleasantly surprised. The crab cake was excellent and truly was meaty with no filler. My husband got their signature fried chicken with yams and greens. The chicken was piping hot and delicious. The yams were good too. Our son got the Mac n cheese, which was delicious. The corn muffins were tasty too. We rated them a 4 just because of our wait at the beginning and the bathrooms were questionable. The manager was a little standoffish, however, we ignored that and continued to enjoy our time at the marina. Not the best for kids but is a well kept secret. Worked for us as we live nearby.
