This was a great experience for my family. We were able to eat made-to-order sushi for $30 as a family. It was good food, the atmosphere was great, and the service was wonderful! We will definitely be visiting again for a great family sushi date.

The buffet is a must! Very high quality sushi, excellent presentation and service. We sat at the sushi bar due to limited seating in the restaurant. The buffet includes about 80% of all items offered on the menu. This place is a hidden gem. We just moved to the area, but we'll become regulars here!

Blah- Overpriced for what you actually get. A huge portion of foods that should have been hot were lukewarm at best. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here.

very good place to eat. HIGHLY Recommend this place. the service is incredible !

I was really excited for the buffet (if that's what you want to call it) here and have been waiting the entire week for it. The price was about $21 for the deluxe buffet. Upon arriving, I was the only one here. The parking spot is incredibly small. I wouldn't know where else to park if there hadn't been any more parking space. As I entered the restaurant, no one was around. I stood there for a little bit then decided to venture off looking for some living soul. I made my way around the corner and I saw some lady slumped over the table with her face down on the table. I thought to myself, "what have I just walked into?" Soon after that the owner I'm assuming comes out to help me. His English isn't very good but I can tell he does try very hard to please the customers. He handed me a sheet of paper with food items for the buffet. Basically, you mark the number of sushi or whatever that you want and they make it for you. The salmon and tuna sashimi was definitely not very good quality. I'm glad I only got 3 pieces of each. The food tasted pretty good and I enjoyed it until I got the deep fried roll, which I really hate. When they bring you out the sushi plate, I basically have no idea what's what. I think the deep fried roll that I got was the Volcano roll. There wasn't any indication that the roll is deep fried. I wasn't really stuffed but I just couldn't eat any of the Volcano roll anymore. It was too greasy and nasty and it was very hard to keep down. If it wasn't for this roll, I would've kept eating more. The service here was ok I guess, of course I was the only customer here for a while and that felt really awkward. The lady who slept on the table finally awoke and walked around the store. Her face looked like it was filled with anger or something. He didn't say a word or cracked a smile. She was just doing her own thing I guess. I also liked the Guava candy that they have by the register. I may come back here sometime again. Just have to avoid those deep fried rolls. They ruin everything!

I wanted to write an update and say how much I still LOVE this restaurant. The food is delicious for a good price. The waiter is absolutely nice however I do notice that they sometimes have a waitress working as well. The waiter is definitely a lot nicer and friendly. He even remembers my name too. Every time I come here, I get really the buffet and you can't go wrong with it because you get to order the specialized rolls - this only applies to the dinner buffet. I also order tea that has a hint of rice sesame flavor. I absolutely love it. In addition, if you have a big party, you should call ahead or make a reservation. It can get really packed during the weekends and busy, so please be patient if your food takes a bit longer for it to arrive - it will be worth the wait. Pleasant atmosphere and delicious sushi. Worth a shot :)
(5)Nicole M.
Amazing all you can eat sushi restaurant!!! The owner is such a great guy, very sweet and very hard working. The sushi is delicious and their green tea ice cream is to die for! This place is perfect for FRESH all you can eat sushi. Five stars and five thumbs up (:
(5)Eric W.
Buffet is a no brainier. High quality sushi. Service is not great but food makes up for it. Awesome selection on buffet too.
(5)Dedania M.
I like Sakura because it's a family styled restaurant and the waiter there is very nice and friendly. The space is very small though and the parking is too. I always pray that there's going to be at least one parking space which there was plenty on a Monday night! My friend and I were craving sushi buffet (~$21 for dinner). I feel like some of our check offs didn't come. I really wanted my seaweed salad and didn't get it sadly. Please don't order from any of the kitchen options on the buffet menu. Please don't. Most of it is gross and I learned that the hard way with ordering pork dumplings and they tasted like fried plastic. I was really upset that the spicy salmon had SOOO much rice that all I could taste was the rice :( After the sushi, they give you delicious green tea/red bean ice cream (2 scoops) and fruit slices sometimes! I like this place but I prefer Yamato's food. Their hand rolls are sooooo much better and the ones here were really weak. Yamato's waiting is ridiculous though so ask for reservations if you plan on going.
(3)Victoria K.
They only had one person working the lunch crowd, so it look quite a long time, I spent about an hour there. The sushi, for being all you can eat, custom made, was really good, and I LOVED the price. I will try to go back with friends, I just happened to be near for business, but I would make the trek out there again. Over all, it was a great experience.
(4)Jeff Y.
We ordered from Sakura for years, but they got sloppier and sloppier. For instance, multiple times in a row they forgot to include the katsu sauce for the katsu. The last straw was when they told us our food would be there in 45 minutes; it arrived in AN HOUR AND 45 minutes, and the food was cold. We'll be ordering from Kyotoya in Stoneham instead.
(2)Brad M.
Placed order for pick up. I got scorpion maki, California roll, and miso soup. Everything was tasty I enjoyed it and I'm excited about going in for the sushi buffet.

$20 for a weekday lunch special. WOW. Without tip, $16. I've been here so many times since I wrote my initial review, I've lost count. I've never had a bad experience here, customer service wise, food wise, or anything like that. I've never had a problem with anything here and almost not complaints. I went here with a table for 10 on a weekday afternoon for their lunch special, and of course it took about 30 minutes for a table to open for 10 people, no problem whoever. There were also about another group of people here so it wasn't too busy this day. We were seated later and just got water or tea, they also have those little Japanese marble drinks, Ramune, but it costs extra. We received a piece of paper, with a page full of different sushi selections or appetizers or even entrees to choose from. Round 1, we ordered a great amount of food and I'm never the one to keep track if the order matches with what we were served. They serve the typical edamame, seaweed salad, or just house salad. Really simple starters. But it gets even better with the amount of tempura you can order. Sure it's mostly batter, but it's still pretty damn good. Shrimp, crab meat, scallops, squid, and a couple others just deep fried in tempura is amazingggg. My favorite is the squid because it's shaped like an onion ring and the coating is yummy. Also, don't order the spring rolls, unless you're daring. I'm not really a fan of the entrees because it's mostly it's super oily and I choose not to get full off of meh tasting fried rice or something. However I prefer ordering the teriyaki items. The best is the salmon teriyaki because it's served hot and yummy. Sure it's a little oily, understating the oily, I'll still finish it. I really can't get sick of it. I know there's almost the grilled salmon that's served with veggies such as zucchini, broccoli, or carrots. (Unless that's the teriyaki one...) There's also the beef teriyaki is really yummy as well! But I think that's served only dinner... I could be wrong. All I really know is that when I ordered 3 spider makis or 40 unagi, I am served with just that much. I don't keep track with what I order versus what I'm served. Please who does that. My favorite sushi rolls served here is the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, spider maki, and the unagi. These select few are the best and these sushi rolls are always made fresh. It's never premade and stuck in a fridge. I personally don't like the raw sashimi so much, it's not really my thing, I mean I'll eat it, but it's not the best here. For $20, don't expect too much for the quality, but for the quantity. Also the waiter and I suppose the owner as well, is always here. Every time I'm at the restaurant, he is always there with a smile on his face serving everyone. Bringing everyone's food and everyone's drinks, refilling things, and wiping down tables.
(5)Scott P.
Wow what a deal All you can eat for $22.00 and the quality is fantastic. SugartimeX and I went last week and could not believe how good it was. No Buffet sushi made to order. try the Volcano Roll it was great. Everyone has different opions on this place but try it you'll like it!
(4)Jeremy W.
Okay I'm giving this 5 stars for the price of sushi- $14 for all you can eat lunch sushi buffet. The sushi is VERY good considering it's only $14! I always go with friends and always have a good time. The wait time can be long while waiting for your sushi, but my friends and I always just order a ton offset the wait time. There is always a second round among us.
(5)Ashley K.
I love this place. We always order individual rolls and a couple of beers, because honestly, we can't eat much more than 2 or 3 rolls per person anyway. I've eaten plenty of sushi around Boston, and this place always remains my favorite for price, the super fresh fish, and the delicious rice mix. This place blows all sushi I've tried in the surrounding area away no contest. Compared to Boston? Definitely at least on par. I could eat this stuff all day. The place is small and family-owned, and definitely has a hole-in-the-wall vibe. There's kids drawings on the wall and Korean television on in the background. The waiter is amazingly nice - come back a couple of times and you'll find yourself on a first name basis quickly. He's very considerate about making sure everyone is enjoying food at the same time. Back when my husband didn't like sushi, he'd order the hibachi dinner, and the waiter would bring me a little miso soup so he wouldn't have to eat his miso soup alone. :) By the way - this is the place that took my husband from no sushi at all to ordering rolls that have raw fish. Most people seem to get the all you can eat sushi, which is a checklist system where everything is fresh prepared. If you can eat enough to make it worth it, I think you'll probably enjoy it. Don't come in expecting a literal buffet of sushi (gross - who wants that anyway?). My favorites are the spider maki and tuna avocado roll (not on the menu, but they are nice enough to make one for me anyway since it's my absolute favorite). The only roll I am not a fan of is the sweet potato maki - the sweet potato is a little underdone for my taste. We never make reservations for 2, but it's really been picking up steam lately - we were surprised to find it nearly packed on a Friday night. You might want to call ahead if you're a larger party than that. They do take out and delivery as well - back when they delivered to us, we ordered from them a bunch.
(5)Eric T.
Really wanted it to be a true little gem ... But it did not impress... Sorry folks, the place is very TINY, and dated. My wife and I were sandwiched between two tables and both had the backs of the diners opposite of us continually hit the backs of our chairs...annoying! On to the food. Fresh. Neat presentation. Big rice portions for maki and nigiri though. The food was ok - but not too impressive. Try it for yourself, but for the price, I would keep searching for a better place.
(3)Lisa W.
Came here early Friday evening for some sushi and pleasantly surprised. I went with the salmon boy (salmon sushi, salmon roll, spicy salmon hand roll) and the sashimi app, the husband had the kara age (deep fried chicken) app and some tuna/avo rolls. Everything was arranged beautifully (see pics!) and the portions are pretty good. The waiter brought out salad and miso soup for both of us, as well. The fish isn't top tier, but at this price point I'm not really expecting that, I just want to stuff my face with raw fish sometime, you know?? The only thing I would not recommend is the deef fried chicken app - it was super tough and hard to eat. Oh and, using a restaurant.com certificate makes this a great deal!
(4)Molly R.
Absolutely wonderful. Been here a few times and each experience has been great. Their buffet ($22) is actually a full all you can eat menu, not trays of premade sushi waiting to be eaten. You check off the boxes you want to order (huge menu, includes kitchen entrees and special rolls) and they make it all fresh. First time we went I was a little skeptical (you know how sushi can be hit or miss). But the fish was so fresh and had amazing flavor. Ate to my heart and stomach's content and couldn't wait to go back. Went again with my parents when they were visiting and the host/waiter was so nice. He chatted with us and brought us a free bottle of sake. Went back again today for the lunch special ($15 all you can eat) and he even remembered our names from a month ago! Def my favorite spot for sushi in the area. Will be back many times. Yum !
(5)Angel P.
The place is in my town so I come here for the buffet. The quality has improved, but I wouldn't say it's the greatest sushi I've had. I would suggest the buffet if you're around the area and craving decent sushi. The service is great, and the waiter is very kind. I've stayed there for over two hours while I was eating and studying for exams. The waiter welcomed me to stay as long as I wanted and I never felt rushed to leave.

Whoever didn't give this place 5 stars has a screw loose. Sakura has the best sushi, always fresh and delicious and is run by the nicest people. I've lived in LA and NYC and Sakura measures up to their finest. There is no way you could find better and fresher sushi, especially around here. Love the maitre'd. They know me by name and writing this review makes me hungry - seriously! Run here! Don't walk.
(5)Irene N.
For first timers--it's the first floor of a house. I know it sounds weird, I also thought it was really weird but it was a nice quaint restaurant. Best for small parties (2-4). And because there were 3 EXTREMELY obnoxious girls that literally made the place echo and gave me a headache, I'm going to ask that you speak with a considerate tone level. But just because they were obnoxious doesn't mean the food was bad. [+] The food was great. The maki, the hand rolls, tempura, katsu are all great. They were delicious, especially the house dragon roll yummy!!! Oh and the green tea ice cream yummy yum yum. [-] I took off one star cause the salmon sashimi was a bit old. Perhaps it's cause I went on a slow day-Tuesday. I definitely recommend this place.

Best sushi in Boston
(5)Teresa S.
Sakura used to be one of my favorite sushi places but their quality in sushi has gone downhill. Maybe it's because they are popular now but who knows! The wait is ridiculously long, I've waited over an hour a couple times and honestly now just don't come back anymore. The only plus is the waiter Jay, super friendly guy!

I'm a big fan of supporting small local business and so I'm a big fan of Sakura! Staff is small and looks very much like a family/small business operation. In the last couple of years, there has been a growing trend of all you can eat sushi restaurants popping up in the greater Boston area. I've definitely tried my share of them, but I'd say that Sakura in Winchester has definitely been my favorite. The restaurant can be a bit hard to find as it's on the first floor of what looks like a house in a more residential area than commercial area. However, I'm one to believe that this place is worth the trouble of finding. There is plenty of parking space right outside the restaurant. You can't beat the $15 all you can eat lunch buffet (it's $22 for dinner). This isn't a pre-made all you can eat buffet. They give you a menu where you check off what you want to order and they make it right then and there for you. What is also nice about this buffet is that it also includes includes kitchen orders as well and also includes ice cream for dessert. I'm a big fan of their spicy tuna and spicy salmon with crisps hand rolls. There unagi and snow crab rolls are also great. I would generally say that they also pack a lot of rice in their sushi which makes sense as they're trying to get you full on a buffet to make profit. Despite this, I still think the quality of the sushi is pretty good. If you're there to just get sushi and not take advantage of the all you can eat buffet, I would check out their website before you order as they have coupons available: sakurawinchester.com/loc… When I'm really craving sushi, I enjoy going to Sakura to get my fix. It's nothing fancy but it definitely hits the spot and satisfies your cravings.

We're regulars--We usually get the nightly all you can eat deluxe a la carte menu for $21.95/adult, but tonight I had the udon stir fry which was tasty. The owner is very nice and remembers our preferences and orders. Small place, sometimes gets busy on Friday nights. Sushi and sashimi is good and fresh. Try the Winchester or Obama rolls--not to my taste, but kinda fun. Limited selection of beer and wine available.
(4)Jordan Z.
This is the best sushi I have had in awhile! The owner is super friendly and welcoming. This is definitely a place that makes you want to be back all of the time

I went during early dinner hours for the AYCE buffet and it was the worst sushi I have eaten. I'm not really picky about sushi, hence why I went to an AYCE place, but this was awful. I got broccoli tempura that had a huge amount of raw batter in the flower portion. It probably wasn't shaken after being dipped, leaving a huge amount of excess in the crevices of the flower. It oozed out when I bit into it. This was the only thing that was absolutely inedible, if that is any consolation. The fish is fine but all of the sushi I had used extremely overcooked rice. It was almost mush. All of the nori was also stale. It was either really old, or stored inappropriately. The prices are significantly cheaper than your average sushi AYCE, but there are a lot of complicated caveats. Most of the special rolls are only available during dinner. Even the dinner menu has a section of stuff that you can only order one of. It's possible that it was just an off day but stale nori and visibly mushy rice generally indicates poor QC.

Came here for lunch on a Friday after some of the guys from the office and I were craving sushi and lamenting the loss of It Rains Fishes in downtown Winchester. We all opted to go for the three lunch roll special instead of the buffet, which allows you to choose three from a pretty extensive list of non-specialty rolls (Spicy Tuna, Shrimp Tempura, etc.). Our waiter was very nice and respectful, so I'm not sure where all the complaints on the service are coming from, but to be fair it was a late lunch and we were the only customers in there. The soup came out first and was decent - not the best I've ever had but certainly not the worse. The salad, which came out next, was the biggest disappointment of the meal. The lettuce was not fresh and the dressing was mediocre and there was FAR too much of it; I joked that the lunch came with two soups. When our rolls came out, however, I was pleasantly surprised. They were all quite good, well composed and the fish tasted fresh. They were also extremely filling: I expected the lunch rolls to be tiny as I've seen at other sushi places, but these were normal sized and it turned out that three was more than I could even finish (I rarely ever get full from sushi, so this was a plus, especially considering the price). Out the door, our meals were $15 with tip and we all left satisfied and eager to return. I can only speak for the lunch but I will say that my experience was great here. I look forward to trying some of their specialty rolls and starters in the future.

Holy hole in the wall this place is too cute for words. And at $21 per person for a sushi buffet that includes both kitchen items and deluxe rolls made to order? Way too good to keep to my self. SO HERE IT GOES! The place is easy to miss because it isn't too well lit from the outside, but Sakura looks like a house that was transformed into a restaurant. It's small and cozy, and we've noticed that they can accommodate seating for any size parties by rearranging tables around. Sakura is run by a grand total of no more than maybe 5-7 people store front. There is one main host/waiter though, that is the star of the show; he seats the customers, serves the food, takes orders, and even clears/cleans up after patrons leave. Let's just say, I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me, that's how cute and attentive he was! Menu items range from the basic sushi rolls, kitchen items like tempura, soups and teriyaki, to the deluxe, fancier [ aka BETTER ] rolls all for that one set price. Rolls that you MUST order when you go?: Winchester Roll - Spicy tuna roll covered with tuna, salmon, white tuna, red snapper, avocado, and tempura flakes Angel Roll - Shrimp Tempura with mango in special sauce Tokyo Roll - Shrimp Tempura with cream cheese topped with filet mignon with chef's special sauce Make sure not to get too cray with over ordering. Otherwise, they will charge $1.00 extra per piece of sushi that isn't consumed by your party. Get some green tea, vanilla, or red bean ice cream to finish off the meal and cleanse your palate, then you're good to go! Parking is available in their own little lot, and make sure to call in advance for a reservation; if you come at the wrong time, it can get full fast!

Subpar food, terrible service. Was attracted by the AYCE lunch buffet special for $13.95. The venue is small, but not particularly cozy. The walls are decorated with drawings by children, and they are all technically superior to the ones graded by Maddox. Nothing else really stood out to me decor-wise. Arriving just after opening, we were one of the first customers there. Still, it took the host/waiter several minutes to put 2 tables together. This was foreshadowing. The "buffet" is nonexistent. Rather, one orders items off of a list that literally has check-boxes. Selection ranges from sushi to yakitori to tempura to teriyaki, so there is, essentially, something for everyone. If one is not interested in the all you can eat special, there is a regular menu that also has lunch specials for approximately $9. I decided to go with the following: seafood noodle soup, shrimp tempura, squid tempura, crab meat tempura, scallop tempura, chicken yakitori, spicy tofu, bulgogi, curry chicken, salmon teriyaki, chicken fried rice. The seafood noodle soup came with a good amount of noodles and vegetables, and one shrimp. Yep. The shrimp tempura was average. The crab meat tempura was actually fake crab meat. The squid tempura was like a poor man's fried calamari. The spicy tofu was soft but in a fried batter, and actually tasty. The chicken fried rice was relatively bland, and barely had any chicken. So what about all the other stuff I ordered? I couldn't tell you, because they never came. We notified the waiter, and he said we ordered so much and "it was confusing". My apologies in advance, but I thought the purpose of marking off the items I wanted was to simplify the process. In any case, I patiently waited for the rest of my food, while my companions ate what they described as "not a good example" of sushi. One of my friends, however, had the katsu chicken, which he emphatically remarked as being good. Fast forward to 100 minutes after we set foot in the restaurant. Still missing half of my order, we ask for the check and to cancel the rest of the food. The waiter insists that we wait and that the food will be ready in 1 minute. He even verified what was missing. At what is now 110 minutes later, he brings out the chicken yakitori, which was dry and essentially the same as my friend's chicken teriyaki, but on a stick. With no time to wait for the rest of the food, we ask for the check again. No apologies, no discount - just a bad attitude and "there's nothing I can do". He did, however, ask for more tip. (^_-) Venue (^_^) Options (-_-) Taste (T_T) Service (^_-) Bang for buck Not glad I came. My $0.07 tip speaks to that. Maybe if he was actually nice, he'd have received the standard amount.

we live down the street from Sakura and we tried it for the first time last night. We ordered a Winchester Roll and The Fire Maki. First of all, the service was friendly. since we had never been there before, he made a couple of recommendations. When we walked in the restaurant at 8pm on a Thursday, we were the only ones there. Soon after 2 more parties came in. The sushi was tasty. A bit too much sauce on the Winchester Roll. My only complaint was my husband's wine glass was so dirty. Really a buzz kill. The prices are good. they have lunch specials and all you can eat sushi ordered a la cart for $20 per person. not a bad deal if you can pack it in.
(3)Elizabeth S.
Dear Sakura, Yelpers, and everyone: When waiters bring you plates of food, it is not a buffet. All you can eat... debatable. Buffet, not so much. There is no buffet table or presentation in this tiny establishment. We received our orders after waiting forty-five minutes, and they wrapped up the orders they forgot to put in forty-five minutes previously. The details: Fresh fish. Good sashimi. Special makimono drenched in mayo (scraped most of it off and had puddles on my plate). Other than having mayonnaise on everything, the makimono weren't too elaborate - no roe, etc. Plum wine tasted like cough syrup. Cooked food was fine. The gist: Good quality fish here. Service, food presentation, and beverages don't match the food. Fine if in the area, but not worth a trek.
(3)Elle B.
Food is always good. Staff is small but always good service even if slow sometimes. Like I said, staff is small, but u can't fit too many people in this little gem! Love it here!
(5)Kim K.
I know it's shady looking from the outside. It's ok though, just go in. The restaurant itself is just alright, no amazing ambiance or anything. Still, the food is made fresh and the ingredients are of very high quality. The sushi buffet is probably one of the best deals around - $14 for lunch and $21 for dinner. Lunch is obviously the best value but the dinner menu does have some exclusive options. Definitely would come back!

FOOD: great sushi, and I'm a sushi snob so that's saying something.... DRINK: not enough of a sake selection SERVICE: pretty bad. just one sushi chef was working and it was pretty busy -- also, the waitstaff is really slow (there weren't enough servers) UPDATE: Service beyond bad -- is unacceptable. Too sliw, not enough staff (still) downgrading this to 2 from 4 stars. Too bad there's no competition.
(2)Jen B.
I have been sending my friends here for months. Coming from the South Shore I was really missing my favorite place in the world, Su Su Sushi. This was an adequate replacement. I haven't been on the weekends but if you come on a weekday night you'll find it's not that busy, aka: quick attentive service. Why would you go to a buffet with food that's been sitting out for hours when you can get it made fresh?
(5)Iv L.
20.95 "Deluxe" dinner buffet All you can eat picked from a listing... the listing is big but all regular sushi rolls.. small sashimi selections .. the place is small, so its not recommended for big parties... the items are all mediocre but you can't expect much for the price.... i recommend order whatever you want on your first try because they appear to give you some filler items in between and make your order extra big as a scheme to prevent one from ordering a second round... o yes, for those who have coupons or "gift certificate" it will not apply to the buffet... only for the regular menu...
(3)Melinda L.
Service sucked. Waited long time for food. Not really going to return I'd rather go to minado in natick best sushi buffet!
(2)Nancy H.
Maybe it was the time my group went, which was friday evening around 8:15, but I wasn't very impressed with the quality of the sushi. We also ended up staying there till 10:30 waiting for our other rounds of food. We went for the all you can eat sushi which wasn't overpriced (forgot the pricing =X) and got seaweed, pork katsu, a crap load of sushi. I remember the Sakura roll which had shrimp tempura with cucumber with mayo & green vegetables & thin cut, and the winchester roll which had spicy tuna roll covered with tuna, salmon, white, tuna, red snapper, avocado & tempura flakes. If the rice hadn't been so thick and seasoned I would have been like SO GOODD! But sadly I cannot say that. There's only one person working for each of the jobs, waiter/cashier, chef, delivery, cleaner, so the service can be fast if no one's there or slow if the place is packed. The waiter and the sushi chef is really nice, and if you become a regular, you can get your sushi served in a boat (comment from my sister who's gone like once a week for a month...) We got ice cream for dessert and it was oh so good because whenever I've gotten hard ice cream, it's always soft and melty. Overall, I'd come again if I had a sushi craving to try it out, but definitely check this place out if you're into all you can eat sushi.
(3)Mai P.
The serving is very good. A waiter and a chief are very nice, they always smiles, even though just 2 persons are working there, one waiter and the chief. The food also very good, we chose deluxe, and I feel it worse that money.
(5)Aaron K.
We have been to Sakura a few times, always with a restaurant.com certificate which is plenty of food and comes out cheaper than doing the buffet option for us. This most recent trip (3 star) the fish wasn't as fresh as it had been in the past. It was a quiet Wednesday night and we were the first couple there. Previously we went on Sundays when they were busy. Although the service is a little slow the fish had always been really good (4 stars worthy). From now on we we will stick to weekends. I love their sashimi appetizer plate, only 9$ gave us 5 different fish and 2 pieces of each (yes that's 10 pieces!). You can't do better anywhere else. They used to do 8 huge pieces which was even better. We really love the winchester roll (must order everytime), and on this particular visit enjoyed the 2 in 1 spicy roll. Their prices are on par with other sushi places but if you do the buffet or restaurant.com coupon you are going to come out ahead. There are a lot of great sushi options nearby, but this one is just good. In other words, you can do better elsewhere.

$20 Sushi Buffet. Deluxe rolls included! That means yellow tail, white tuna and fat pieces of salmon that your chopsticks will want to hug alllll night baby! The sushi is made to order. A lot of sushi buffets take their sweet time and leave customers hungry at the table for an hour - I won't say any names (YAMATO!!!). Service here is extremely attentive, but not overbearing. Ambiance is casual, clean, and welcoming. Food options are plentiful- curry, seafood noodle soup, miso soup, green tea ice cream, tempura, terryaki. All this for $20? In my suburban town? Hell Effing Yes. Try the Winchester Roll. Thank you and good day.

Mmmmmm! :) I love SUSHI! This place has decent sushi. I have had the regular dinner here, and a buffet dinner here. Both times have been good. I would really just give it 4 stars, but the reason I give it a 5 is that it has excellent choices for a sushi buffet. There's so much you can order and eat to your heart's content.. for about $21, I think? There is only one server, so if you catch them on a busy night, you may have a tiny bit of waiting once you're seated. But, I think he does a pretty good job given he's the only one running around. PROS: Very Good prices Very Good sushi Very Good service Excellent buffet choices CONS: Just normal/nothing special ambiance. It's a small local place. They don't spend their time on aesthetics.. so if that's what you're looking for, then go to Taipei Tokyo that's just 3 minutes drive down the same street, in Woburn for everything under PROS that I stated on top! Parking: There's a parking lot and many parking spaces on the street if that gets filled up.
(5)Lady W.
it is OUR place. that is what we like to call it among our very huge group of friends. because when we go we take all the seats. and eat. like really eat. their sushi is so good. no, beyond good it is perfect. the place is too small though but we dont mind we love it. Jay is very friendly and he knows us all by name. i really cant get enough of this place. MUST TRY.
(5)Anna A.
Following the reviews I went to this place. Quantity over quality. You get as much as you can eat, but I love sushi and the quality here is not good if you know about sushi. I'd rather spend more money and be satisfied. I didn't like it.

Best value for the price!! I've been to almost all all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants around the Greater Boston area, and Sakura is offering the best value for the price they charge. For $20.95 weekend adult price, you really can't beat it. Despite of the relatively low price, fishes here are alway fresh. Me and my friends are here so often that we started to build friendship with the waiter. The only down side that refrained me from giving 5 stars is the limited sashimi selection. Their rolls and maki are awesome.
(4)A B.
Go here if you want to eat a lot of mediocre, flavorless sushi and other Japanese specialties at a low price, in a cold, drafty dining room with no atmosphere and a loud, blaring TV.
(2)Angela C.
All the sushi you can eat for $21 a person. What's not to love? The sushi has always been fresh whenever we've gone. The fire maki, Tokyo roll and snow mountain maki are all favorites of ours. Their drink selections are pretty weak, Japanese beer, house wine and sake is all they offer. We usually stick with water anyways in order to save room for lots of sushi! Service can sometimes be slow, it really depends on how busy the place is and what sushi chef is working at the time. But even when slow its totally worth the wait
(5)Christina K.
I've only gone for the dinner all you can eat sushi, which is pretty good for $21 per person. The sushi rolls are made to order, which I like so I know it's fresh instead of wondering how long they've been sitting out. I took my family out here as I'm new to this part of MA. Also it was a birthday dinner. :) There is quite a selection of different rolls, nigiri, sashmi, kitchen, and maki. I personally really like the grilled salmon skin/salmon/mayo roll. It was really good and crispy! The portion of food is different depending if you're ordering orders, cold dishes, or hot dishes. The rolls are the typical 6-8 pieces. The hot dishes were actually larger than I was expecting. Like for the noodle soup dishes, can be a small meal in itself, so I would advise to share it with a friend so you can eat more sushi. :) The service was great, but it wasn't very busy. There are only two other tables besides us. They were all very nice and quick with their food. The place is small, but very cute. I wouldn't bring a large group here, as most of the tables are only able to seat 2-4. If anything, make a reservation if you are bringing a group. I don't know if this place gets busy as I came before the dinner rush. Also, they always add 18% gratuity to your bill, which I wasn't a fan of because I think they're short changing themselves. I left a few more bills on top of that charge.

I think it's the best salmon I've ever had anywhere!!! Small place with slow service, but well worth the wait. Waiter was very nice and went as fast as he could, by himself with a full house. Sushi was GREAT and he kept the sake coming! Only complaints I would have are; most of the sushi is spicy. I understand people love it, but some of us do not. Also there didn't seem to be any yellowtail or white tuna. If there was, I didn't see it. We got the buffet and it was soooo soooo soooo worth it! I am going again!

My hubby and I decided to try this place out for an affordable Valentine's Day celebration, we left with great disappointment. We ordered the all-you-can-eat made-to-order buffet, the selection was limited compared to other buffet places we go. The sashimi was small; for the standard nigiri sushi, the rice underneath was huge that the fish on top could barely cover it, looked like something made by amateur sushi chef. My hubby and I are huge sushi fans but we couldn't even finish the plate in front of us as it was too disappointing. We then tried something from kitchen, including Agedashi Tofu and some teriyaki beef with vegetable, all I can say is -- they were absolutely terrible! The tofu appetizer was nothing near delicate (the way that it should be), they just deep-fried a huge block of Tofu and cut it up in three big pieces, the Tofu is almost bigger than the plate it was served on...and it was tasteless. The teriyaki beef and veggie tastes like a generic stir-fried beef dish you can get from a Chinese restaurant. We were grossed-out and decided not to go back. : (

Nice place to go for lunch. It was real quiet the two times I went for lunch and the servers were nice. I had their Eel lunch special and their sushi. The Eel Lunch special is price very fairly. It comes with salad, california rolls and Eel meat + rice. I enjoyed the dish and the quality is typical of that you would find at other sushi restaurants. Their sushi is also on par with other similarly price restaurants. It isn't out of this world but it isn't bad either. For the price you do get a good deal. Overall I would say this place is nice and you get what you pay for.

Good sushi is one of those things that you really have to look for, especially when you are not close to the city. Finding decent Japanese food is also a gamble, so sometimes you have to throw yourself into the fray. Sakura is a definitely a strong bet when it comes to your Japanese fare. Located right on Main Street on the edges of Winchester, its a small little place thats easy to miss. Once you find yourself sitting down, you are in for a great meal and food deal. The best option is the all you can eat buffet; 15 bucks for Lunch, 21 bucks for dinner. The menu is full of all sorts of different dishes for all levels of sushi lovers. There are more traditional rolls, like sashimi, tuna rolls and veggie rolls, but there are the cooked ones, specifically the Tokyo Roll, which is by far, one of their best. With cooked shrimp and pieces of Filet Mignon on top, smothered in a creamy spicy sauce, its definitely a winner. In addition, there are plenty of cooked rolls, whether it be crab, shrimp, eel, etc. If you are not in a raw mood, those are definitely for you. Also, for non-sushi lovers, there is a cooked menu with tempura and teriyaki dishes. FYI, the buffet menu is a bit limited, but still has a lot to offer for both sushi and other Japanese food. The main menu is a basically expanded version of the buffet. Also, be aware for any sushi piece you do not finish, you will be charged an extra 1.50, which is totally understandable. The staff is very friendly and the place itself is on the small side, but its comfy and is good for a small dinner for two or a larger group if need be. They are very accommodating. All in all, this is a great place to check out and it seems like not a lot of people know about it. With all around great Japanese food and prices, this is a place you definitely have to try.

Love this place!! Everything is fresh! the people are friendly!

This is NOT a buffet. I repeat, not a buffet. Everyone keeps calling it that in their reviews and it's totally misleading. We sat in the parking lot deliberating even going inside because we envisioned a Japanese Country Buffet, complete with sneeze guards and sticky floors. I'm so glad we went in, because the experience was very good -- and there is no buffet table; don't make me repeat it again. There are two menus: the standard business that you're used to and then a fixed price menu with (I'm guessing) about 70% of the same items but you can order as many and as much as you like for $21. I can't image not doing the fixed price deal. I got miso soup, 4pc sushi and two rolls (maki). According to the regular menu (and at most restaurants) that would have cost me at least $30. The quality was good and the preparation was fine. I want to give them 4 stars, but Sakura loses a point for these reasons: #1 the glasses were ridiculously dirty so I drank from the beer bottle - if given the option, my wife would've done the same for her wine. #2 no paper towels in the bathroom (but thankfully there was soap). #3 they include 18% gratuity on all bills, regardless of party size. This is not cool AND I usually tip 20% if nothing is offensively bad about the service; so you're just short changing yourself. #4 the beer/wine selection was weak. All wines were "house" and the beer selection was Sapporo or Kirin. Look, everyone knows you're an Asian restaurant, you don't have to limit your beer selection to stereotypical offerings for people to get it. Besides, you're probably going to make more money on alcohol than the food, so why not offer more?
(3)Amy T.
I've been here more time than I can count on my two hands and toes. $14 for lunch buffet, $20 for dinner buffet (but it also includes the BEST!) While the sushi isn't first-class quality, you're still getting a big bang for you bucks, especially if you're not afraid to eat till it hurts :) The waitress there is a major sweetheart, and does a great job attending to our needs. Chances are, it might just be empty when you walk in. But since the food and service has always been good, I assumed its because there isn't enough publicity. So SPREAD THE LOVE!
(5)BN C.
My wife and i love this place and come here a few times a month. For $14 lunch and $21 all you can eat sushi, this place cannot be beat! We've since figured out the stuff we like and basically order the same thing every time. As some have mentioned, it's not first rate sushi (it's AYCE!), but for the price, its the best buffet out there. Because the establishment is very small and there's probably like 3 people working here the whole time.. expect to wait. We usually put in our entire order at the beginning to prevent having to "re-order" because of the significant lead time. A few thoughts on the food: - Miso is pretty good here - Seaweed salad is good here.. the normal salad is so-so - Shrimp tempura is really good here. A bit on the smaller size, but ok - Spicy tuna/salmon - We usually get one of each. Some days, the salmon is fresher.. some days the tuna. It all balances out - Shrimp tempura roll - i know.. this is probably as "fake" of a roll as it gets.. but its AWESOME - Eel - its pretty good and fresh here - Skip the bulgogi, tofu, etc. its not a korean restaurant and just tastes stirfry - Green tea icecream - very creamy and good here!

Best sushi for the price that I've ever had. My boyfriend and I LOVE sushi and order it about every other week. I've had a lot of really bad sushi in the Boston/Cambridge/Arlington/Medford area so when I find a good place I stick to it. Sakura fits this bill in every way. The fish is always incredibly fresh and made perfectly. Perfect rice to fish ratio (hate nothing more than a rice roll with a dab of fish in the middle), awesome and creative options, fast service, accurate with their orders and excellent prices. We've only eaten in the restaurant once. We were there for lunch and were the only patrons there so I don't know if we received excellent service because the service is excellent or if it was just because we were the only people that were being served but regardless, we received excellent service. Every other time we've gone we order take out but the staff is always friendly, repeats our order back to us before placing it and we always get exactly what we order. The plus is that if you live in town and get the monthly free Winchester paper in your mailbox there is usually a coupon for a percentage off or a free appetizer so keep your eyes open. The only thing I would change about Sakura is maybe they could start offering brown rice sushi? They do offer brown rice with their non sushi entrees but you can't get sushi with anything other than white. Just a suggestion but certainly not a complaint! Every time we've ventured to try any other sushi place we always end up saying "We should have just gone to Sakura" so now we always do!
(5)Irwin F.
I recently went to Sakura for their $20 all you can eat buffet with a buddy. It was outstanding. I ordered the Winchester Roll, the Sweetheart Roll, the Angel Roll, and the Chicken Tempura Roll. All were outstanding. Service was good and friendly. It's a real deal if you go there hungry.
(5)Michael T.
We arrived at Sakura at 12:40 pm today and the employees were just arriving even though the restaurant opens at 12:30 pm. We walked in but it was obvious that the restaurant staff did not do any cleaning the night before as some tables were not cleared, there was food, napkins on the floor. It was amazing that they actually wanted to seat us at a table with such filth. I have never been to a more disgusting, dirty restaurant ever. I wish i could give this restaurant a minus 5 star.
(1)Biagio O.
Sushi is expensive and most buffet places mess it up, but Sakura does Sushi right and they bring it right to your table! The sushi rolls were very well done and there were some great non sushi items too. The plum wine was sweet and good too.
(5)Vincent N.
You'd be hard pressed to find a sushi place that gives as much bang for your buck. I've been to some of the better known sushi places in the Boston area including Ginza, Fugakyu, Genkiya, and others. If you expect that level of sushi quality here, you'll be somewhat disappointed. If you go in knowing that you'll be able to choose from a wide variety of very good quality sushi (try the Winchester roll), apps, and desserts made to order and as much as you want for $21, then you're in the right mindset for Sakura. Of course you could order off the fuller, normal menu, but why would you do that? That's what sets this place apart: sheer value. Every time I think about going anywhere else I think to myself, "Self, I'd be just as happy if not more so gorging myself at Sakura into a stomach-clutching stupor." And then I go to Sakura. They've really stepped up their apps game since I first started going, too. Their shrimp tempura originally was breaded wrong and came out tasting like fried shrimp from a Chinese food restaurant. Now it's actually pretty good, decent sized, and I get as many as I want. There is nothing quite like this place. Yeah, you could go to Yamato and have the waitstaff conveniently lose your second order sheet and "forget" to tell you until you flag them down 40 minutes later (yes, this happened to me--the reviews are true) when you're feeling full, but why bother with passive agressive and pretentious wanna-be semi-buffets when you can roll into Sakura and be treated to a steady stream of food and some of the best water service I've seen? Start going here before this hidden gem becomes too well known and you have to vie for one of the small handful of tables in the dining area. This happened to me last week...and I'm going again this weekend lol. This place is the Pacquaio of sushi restaurants: pound for pound one of the greatest that exists today.
(5)Casie G.
A few friends introduced to me to this place and I love it. I'm really surprised to see multiple bad reviews as I've been here 5 or 6 times and have had a great experience every single time. It's a bit of a hike to get there if you live in downtown Boston but the sushi is amazing (try the Stephanie roll) and the prices are pretty unbeatable. The sushi quality is comparative Douzo at a lower price. The service isn't the best ever but I've only been there with large groups so I can't really judge it off of that. Overall, I definitely recommend it. Plus, they have a basket of all the best candies when you leave!
(4)Lynne S.
Please note: I'm only able to review the delivery and food of Sakura, as I have not yet been to the restaurant. Looking over the menu, I was anxious to try to sushi, but a little skeptical because the prices seemed lower than other places around. But alas, my budget and love of trying new sushi places prompted me to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. The delivery was fast and friendly and the sushi was fresh and delicious. I always order an eel avocado roll the first time I try a new place, and their's did not disappoint. I also added a caterpillar roll and small garden salad with ginger dressing. The ginger dressing wasn't as good as dressings from other local sushi restaurants, but the sushi was generous and tasty. I am thrilled to have found another solid sushi restaurant within delivery range!
(4)Cosmo X.
Rolls are a little small not huge! Decent but the all you can eat fresh cut buffet for $21 draws me there! Best deal around the area! If it wasn't for the buffet I'd go to other places
(3)Kate H.
The ONE STAR is only goes to the green tea ice cream and seaweed salad. The services is nice but there are more rice than meat. The sushi is BIG with rice not meat!. I usually go to sushi buffets eating 2 plates with the same people that I went with. We only have one plate and couldn't even finish it at Sakura. The ICE TEA is powder mixed with water. Also the SALMON SASHIMI is my all time favorite but this sushi buffet is ridiculous, it was nasty. nothing close to fresh. The price is decent ($20.95) for a person but I rather pay a little bit more for some other good places. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN!
(1)Marisol D.
Just got back from the dinner "buffet" and was quite pleased to see that it was not your typical buffet. It's actually All You Can Eat and the sushi is made to order from a set, but extensive, menu. The pork dumplings and teriyaki beef were to die for! For those of you who are tired of buffets that claim to have sushi only to find rolls with no fish, this is the place for you! Freshly made to order without the high prices. I am so glad this is in my backyard!!
(5)Jenny T.
Love it here! Jay is the waiter and he makes everyone feel welcome. Sushi is amazing and even though they are a buffet, they are very generous with the seafood.
(5)Anthony L.
no complains except since the place is so small, staff is minimal = service is slooooowwww also, some stuff on the main menu (like calamari) are not on their buffet menu if those 2 things were fixed i would give this place 5 stars
(4)Tati T.
I wouldn't eat sushi when I came back from a West coast vacation because I had the most amazing sushi in a strip mall joint and didn't want to be disappointed...then I came here. It's sushi heaven, and the service is awesome too. After eating here I honestly think about the food at every meal time for at least two days wishing it wasn't a commuter rail ride away from me.

This place is absolutely wonderful, that I'm writing my first ever review on it. This place is fairly new and is largely an undiscovered jewel among the Japanese restaurants in the area. We live close by and went to Sakura on a Tuesday night around dinner time (~6 pm), unlike other popular/well-known restaurants which would be packed at this time. This place was very quiet and the interior decors were warm and classy. We sat down at a table next to the sushi bar. The waitress was very nice and quick at taking our orders. We had teriyaki salmon and steak combo, and chicken katsu as the main entrees, as well as spicy tuna/salmon maki and fire maki for a taste of sushi. We ate our way through plentiful of Japanese restaurants in Boston and its surrounding areas. And for the price, the portions we got in Sakura were huge in comparison. You would think that the combination would give you half of a salmon fillet and half of a steak fillet (since it's only $1-$2 more than getting them individually), but the fillet and steak for the combination are both full sized and very flavorful. The salmon fillet especially, was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside (skin) and tender inside. At another local restaurant, we would have gotten less than half of that portion with the same price. The maki were fully packed with tuna/salmon meats and the fire maki contains an explosion of tasty flavors in one bite. We are planning to return to Sakura next week with some friends and try the sushi boats. Really looking forward to it! Highly recommend this restaurant for people who lives in/close to the area, give it a try, you won't regret it. :)

Competently prepared Japanese food but nothing to write home about.

We were hungry for sushi so I we did our research on Yelp to find a good sushi in our area and there were a ton! Thank you Yelp users. We found this place and decided to give it a shot and we were very pleased. Sushi was very tasty. We had 3 rolls and some naguri, we will be going back and trying some other rolls. The service was good as there was maybe 2 other tables. One of the nice things that we found was they are on restaurant.com so we also bought a coupon before we went there so it cut our bill in half.
(4)R W.
I am not a sushi connoisseur but I really love going to this place. The service is very friendly; they will answer all my dumb questions about the menu, and I think the food is very, very good. They seem to have a great deal of variety, with exotic items and things my children will eat. I am definitely a fan.
(4)Cee C.
A Yelp User named Wei C. emails and solicits advertisement for Sakura. Very strange, as the sushi is NOT fresh, and the service is bad.
(1)Maria O.
Very friendly, polite, and helpful staff. The restaurant is smallish, but I haven't seen it crowded, so it works. The house-style building is cozy, makes me feel like I'm a valued guest. Food was very fresh and made with care, good quality. Salmon salad with mango sauce was very delicate and nice contrast to the sushi. Seaweed salad was fresh, good, as I expect it to be. Only had raw sushi and sashimi, everything was delicious. The fish roe was great.
(4)Andrew S.
I was happy to see a new Japanese restaurant in Winchester, and I feel a bit bad leaving a mediocre review. The staff were extremely kind and if I were rating them it would be five stars. It's also a tough location to thrive in... this strange house-restaurant has hosted a number of restaurants over the years. The restaurant was empty on a saturday night, and I got the sense that they didn't get enough traffic yet. Still, it really wasn't a decent meal. Keep in mind I grew up in Winchester, but moved away to Los Angeles, land of sushi, and got spoiled. The food itself was mediocre. We tried the deep-fried soft-shell and seaweed salad - both were just okay. The crab was deep-fried in too heavy of a breading, and wasn't light or crisp enough. The seaweed salad was fine, but it's tough to mess that up. The rest of our meal was sushi, which wasn't anything to write home about. The seaweed wrap was tough, and the rice were small, hard nuggets that didn't stick to the fish, so the maki fell apart. You can always tell a good sushi place by the quality of their rice. You'd think it's the most simple thing to cook and season, but I've never been to a bad Japanese restaurant with good rice. The cuts of fish were cheap and frozen - mainly cooked fish/shellfish like crab stick and eel. Another bad sign was that they were out of one of the tastier but less popular ingredients (uni - sea urchin). The rolls looked cool, but didn't deliver. Edit: my wife made me change it to three stars, because she didn't think it was that bad....

Ordered sushi deluxe platter and seafood udon noodle soup. Fried ice cream for dessert. First, I have to admit that I had a $25 coupon from Restaurant.com so I decided to try this place out and take advantage of the coupon. If I didn't have the coupon, I probably wouldn't have come here but not because of the restaurant, but because I generally don't eat at sushi bars. I'm more of a Japanese buffet guy. Anyway... The place was small and cozy and considering they still had their "Grand Opening" banner outside, I wasn't surprised to find things very nicely done inside. It was on a Saturday afternoon, maybe around 3pm, so there weren't too many people there having a late lunch or early dinner like we were. Our waitress was very nice. Service was pretty quick considering we ordered the Sushi Deluxe Platter which is 70 pieces of fishy goodness! So we ordered the 70 piece sushi boat and when it came out, our eyes just lit up due to the sheer size of the boat. The boat was beautiful and the food was laid out very nicely. I had to snap a picture of the boat before we dug into the food. The sushi was VERY good. It came with the usual salmon, tuna, mackerel, yellowtail, shrimp, egg, eel, etc. I think there was a spicy salmon roll, tempura roll, california roll, spider roll and some other vegetable tempura roll. We split the boat between three people and we were all totally stuffed, and we still had like over 10 pieces left! The boat also came with salad and miso soup which was standard for boats. My son ordered their seafood udon noodle soup. I didn't have much of it but it tasted pretty standard. It came with a lot of seafood too. For dessert, we all shared an order of their fried ice cream. It was my first time having fried ice cream and man, it was good!!! I'm hooked! Like I've say in my profile, "If it isn't sushi, it has no chance of getting 5 stars", this place gets 5 stars hands down. You need to check this place out and check often on Restaurant.com for their $25 coupon for this restaurant. From time to time, they have deals where you can get $25 coupons for only $2. It's worth it!
(5)Sean C.
I ordered sashimi boat for two, and rainbow row. Sashimi is fresh and well cut. Rainbow row is good on taste but the row skill is just ok in US standard.(as previous review Andrew mentioned.) Whole restaurant is very clean and organized. People there are very very friendly. (I also got a gift certificate for $25 before going there, and want to get it a try. The 5 star rating also put this certificate into valuation - otherwise I will give 4 stars.) If you don't have gift certificate, don't worry to get a try since there is a promotion for "Dollar sushi" and some other special deals. Of course, the promotion cannot combine with the gift certificate I got. so I haven't had a chance to try it so far. But I will re-visit the place to try it next time I want to have Japanese food.
(5)Julie D.
Best place for fresh sushi! This is my favorite place every time I have a sushi craving. The sushi is made to order with all the options you'd find in a typical sushi restaurant favorites such as spider roll, rainbow roll, california, salmon, tuna many more etc in an AYCE style buffet. The appetizers they have as well other than sushi are also great too, and not salty at all compared to other places. Lunch is only $13-14 and dinner has sashimi and special rolls for $20, what else more can you want? YUM YUM YUM! The sashimi here is so fresh!!! I also LOOOVE the hand rolls selection they have! The most options I've seen in a sushi buffet offer! I am also always impressed with the plate presentations as well. When you have a big order, they bring out a sushi boat and it's just so AWESOME! I definitely prefer the quality of Sakura's sushi over Yamato and Minado. The servers are really nice too. Jay is an extremely friendly and hard working waiter and greets me every time I come with a smile. I recommend going in small groups here though since the place is small. But yeah, GO HERE!! I'm always satisfied and never have been disappointed once, when I come here to eat! :) I LOVE YOU, SAKURA!!!!
(5)Sarajane M.
I had dinner at Sakura about a month ago and returned today for lunch. My office orders their lunch special pretty regularly for take out or delivery. The sushi buffet price here is so good...I'm not sure how they stay in business! You can order WHATEVER you want off the menu for one solid price. Most of the portions are perfectly for one, although the seaweed salad is huge. Don't let the term "buffet" fool you. I'm not a big fan of buffets since the idea of food sitting out for hours has never appealed to me. But, at Sakura everything is cooked to order. You are provided with an order sheet that you fill out and if you want to keep ordering more, you can. This way, everything is fresh and the restaurant does not have to waste food out on a buffet. In my opinion, it seems a genius idea for both Sakura and it's customers. Atmosphere is quiet, they don't seem to play any music. It's a small place and rarely seems crowded. The servers are very friendly and aim to please.
(4)Willie M.
Consistently good sushi. Lots of choices on the menu, and each time we've tried something new without disappointment. The snow mountain maki, the volcano and the Stephanie are all good. Moderate prices and decent service. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
(4)Audrey E.
Okay, let me first say that I really wanted to like Sakura -- close to home, sushi, kid-friendly -- but the food has consistently been mediocre at best. The staff there could not be more welcoming and attentive, which makes it especially difficult for me to write this review, but I have ended up curiously ill with GI-associated symptoms following each visit to Sakura. Add to that the fact that the sushi wasn't so great, and I am not willing to risk it again. That being said, lots of people on here love it, and thus have not likely been affected in a similar manner -- maybe it was purely coincidental. Sadly, I cannot, however, recommend Sakura.
(2)Anna L.
A friend recommended this place because of their creativity with their rolls. So the 5 of us went to try it. We ate the buffet which is not going to a buffet table. Instead, they make as you order. We got some cooked foods (beef and salmon teriyaki) and a lot of rolls (specialty rolls too!) and the food was presented very well and the taste was phenonmenal. The only problem is that we ordered too many rolls with crunchies so by the end, we were tired of eating another roll with crunchies in it. haha, but that's our fault. I got the plum wine which was overbearingly sweet and tasted like it's been out for a while. Besides the drinks, i highly recommend this place

Surprisingly good. Recommend visiting, and they just got a liquor license. My wife and I shared the Sushi Deluxe and Teriyaki Seafood (salmon, shrimp and scallops). With warm saki. Both were very good. Portions fair. Priced quite fairly. I've traveled many time to Japan, and it felt like a good, local Japanese restaurant. Given them a try.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. They make delicious sushi, especially the special rolls. I usually stick to the same-old, same-old -- salmon roll, spicy tuna, etc -- but got courageous one time and tried a few of their more exciting rolls. Now I feel like I cannot go back to the more boring stuff! The owner, Stephanie, and her husband, Andrew, are so very nice. They are attentive, remember your name from visit to visit (who does that anymore?) and are accomodating to families. They have donated to a few events I've been a part of -- being charitable always wins points in my book -- and seem to be a great addition to Winchester. I would recommend anyone go there. With inexpensive, high quality sushi and great owners who truly care about their restaurant, you cannot go wrong!

Ok so I haven't actually eaten here. I got their menu in the mail and we decided to order from here. We all picked out things and I called to order. One they don't have delivery during the day, and two they did not have any chinese food. So their menu is incorrect and I was unable to order what one of the ladies wanted. Due to all the false info and unwillingness to work with me, I will not be trying this place.
(2)Ashley P.
3 and a half stars if I could give it. The sushi was very fresh and delicious. I haven't tried anything else on the menu other than a lot of different sushi's but I will be back to try some other things! I would definitely recommend it here! The service was excellent. I will be back!

I love sushi, just getting that out of the way. That saying, I have experienced a lot of different kinds of rolls and restaurants. I am happy to say that this amazing restaurant is one of the best places to get sushi and is surprisingly right down the street from my house. They have a wide variety of rolls and different sushi dishes. The love boat is loaded with salmon and other amazing nigiris and sashimis. The rolls range from your typical salmon and tuna rolls, to amazing rolls that I will go into detail. Here are my top 3 original rolls to get at Sakura: Fire Maki - A huge roll stuffed with shrimp tempura, avocado, tobiko and cucumber topped with spicy tuna and spicy mayo. Ocean Maki - HUGE chunks of salmon covered with tuna and avocado and covered in a nice sweet honey wasabi sauce. Tokyo Roll - This is a specialty roll that has I believe Tuna and cheese and then covered with.... FILET MIGNON. Frickin awesome. The best part, these rolls won't even break the bank. Some of the tastiest and most original rolls I have had and at bargain sushi prices. They also off noodle dishes and other japanese fare that is quite well, but this is the place to go for sushi in the Winchester / Woburn area. Did I mention that they also serve some really good Chinese dishes as well? I have never had a bad experience here. The owner, Stephanie, is a sweet heart and is very attentive when waiting on you. She even introduced me to fried ice cream, and this place has some of the best.

Ate here on a Tuesday night with a restaurant.com coupon for $25. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered the Sushi Sashimi Platter for 2 for about $43. We also ordered an app of Chicken Yakatori. While we waited, we got the standard miso soup and salad. The soup was pretty bland and I wasn't crazy about the salad dressing. Then came the Chicken. It was pretty good and I'd order it again, but it also could have had a little more flavor for me. The bf thought it was perfect and he loved it. Next came the sushi boat. It came with A TON of fish! Sushi, sashimi, a tuna roll, and a spider roll. Definitely plenty of food and a great value. I have to say this has been the best sushi we've found outside of Douzo in Boston. Fresh, flavorful fish, hot wasabi, good ginger, decent sushi rice. Yum! Only complaints: They charge per can for the pop (and it's warm!) and I hope they spice up the soup and salad, then we won't have reason to go elsewhere! For the value we got and the great sushi, we will definitely be back!

Have been three times for lunch special on Saturdays only. They have all you can eat for I believe $15 which is the best deal you will find anywhere. You can I believe order absolutely anything from the menu so we have gotten appetizers like tempura and spring rolls, soups, salads, stir fry meals, regular rolls and nigiri/sashimi. Everything has been delicious, not to mention the ice cream for dessert. They'll let you try all the flavors if you ask :) The only down fall I noticed is that you check off on the menu what you'd like to order and sometimes we have not received it. Maybe it was a hint that we ordered too much food or they were out of a particular fish, but not a big deal because you can just order another round. I would highly recommend a weekend lunch special as everything is made to order and fresh and it is not usually busy for lunch so the service is great!
(4)A A.
This place is absolutely delicious! My husband and I love sushi and frequent many places in Boston. The rolls are innovative and extremely fresh. I highly recommend the Fire Maki, the Snow Mountain Maki and the Caterpillar Maki. We ended up ordering a second Fire Maki because it was so good!! All of the flavors were bold and the service was friendly and attentive! We will certainly be back!

I stopped by for lunch. DC and I had Eel Don and Yaki Udon. Good food, Good service, Nice dining room, Good value. I'll be back.
(4)SC W.
I was disappointed at both the service and the food. First of all, I called in an order 30 mins before I picked up, upon arrival, no one was at the desk, and my food was not prepared; I ended up waiting for an extra 10 mins. The worst was, they gave me raw fish after I asked specifically for cooked fish. Food quality was OK, but I would not give them 5 stars for sure.
(2)Chuck H.
Lived in Woburn/Winchester for 25 yrs and this was my first time trying this place. I loved it! Sushi was fresh and took advantage of the all you can eat. Service was a little slow due to what appeared to be 3 people working. If you can put that past you then you will def enjoy sushi here! Tokyo Roll and the sweetheart were delicious!!!
(4)Pat b.
The place is for Japanese buffet, but nope. .it's not a real Japanese chief .. the sushi was not fresh at all. The cuts of fish were cheap and frozen - mainly cooked fish/shellfish like crab stick and eel. I was disappointed at both the service and the food. Also, beware of the unexpected additional charges on the bill. With the money I spend, I think can find a better place .
(1)R F.
This place is delicious and very reasonable priced. I'm a huge fan of the Idaho maki, made with sweet potato tempura. I could eat it all day. Plust, you can get a gift certificate on restauant.com , which makes it even cheaper.
(5)jane y.
What a treat to find a great sushi restaurant out in the suburbs! I'll admit, i probably wouldn't have made the trip out to Winchester, but i purchased a restaurants.com gift certificate from here, so i thought i'd give it a try. The service was attentive and speedy, and the sushi platter for 2 that we ordered was great. The quality of the fish was excellent, very fresh, and the portion size is impressive given the pretty low prices. i don't think i've ever eaten such large maki rolls. This might be our new go-to sushi restaurant (and you can still purchase discounted restaurants.com gift certificates)

Stopped by for lunch while at an audiology exam down the street. This place is incredible if you like sushi lunch. They have a all you can eat buffet menu for 15 bucks. It's made made to order rather than siting in a buffet lineup. The all you can eat menu include other items besides sushi and rolls; also includes entrees, appetizers, soup, etc. They have a pricier buffet too that includes some of the fancier rolls but I was not interested. Advice: stick to the sushi and rolls. I also got the chicken fried rice and fried tofu. It was just ok. You can order as many items as you want but I think there's a note on the menu not to waste food and there's a $1 charge for any piece not consumed.
(4)Momo K.
five star for a buffet service. went there yesterday w/ my bf to try out their buffet. it's really awesome. the service was good and the food was nicely made. would go back again. too bad, forgot camera. much better than minado
(5)Diana C.
The sushi is good and the price is fair. Not the best sushi I've had, but because I had a restaurant.com coupon, I have gone back on a few occasions. The spicy salmon salad is one of my favorites, but the miso soup is poor. Another drawback is that there aren't free refills on soda because they come in a can that also isn't refrigerated so it's always warm even with ice.
(4)Norman B.
Adorable place with very nice service. The Winchester roll,, and Sweet Heart roll, both Sakura Special rolls were exception both in taste and preparation. The prices are very reasonable. I also used a Restaurant.com coupon but would have no qualms about going back without one. The menu is exceptionally large with something for everyone to eat. I have been to most of the Sushi restaurants in the Lexington/Burlington Woburn area and many others and the quality is second to none. The portion sizes were very genrous for their very tasty specials. I went with my wife on a Saturday night and it was not crowded- but they do take reservations in case you prefer it that way. By the way- they do serve beer and wine! This will now be our Sushi restaurant of choice.

Sakura is a relatively new Japanese restaurant in the area, I think it's only been in business for a month or so. My fiancé and I used to live in in the area, were driving by and decided to try it. It's very nice inside. Extremely clean and the hostess (who we think may have been the owner) was very friendly. It wasn't very busy, but the service was great. But the best part was the food! We got the shumai appetizer, hot fresh and tasty. The miso soup was delicious with fresh tasting ingredients. The seaweed salad came in a large martini glass with roe sprinkled on top. Delicious. Our main course was an assortment of sushi. Spicy tuna, salmon, and crazy maki. It was all very good. They are generous on the roll so the portions were very good. I enjoyed the Japanese music playing in the restaurant too. I work in downtown Boston and often eat sushi in Chinatown and that area. Sakura is just as good as any place I've tried and better than many. I recommend it.

(5)Maria O.
(4)R W.
I am not a sushi connoisseur but I really love going to this place. The service is very friendly; they will answer all my dumb questions about the menu, and I think the food is very, very good. They seem to have a great deal of variety, with exotic items and things my children will eat. I am definitely a fan.

Consistently good sushi. Lots of choices on the menu, and each time we've tried something new without disappointment. The snow mountain maki, the volcano and the Stephanie are all good. Moderate prices and decent service. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

This was a great experience for my family. We were able to eat made-to-order sushi for $30 as a family. It was good food, the atmosphere was great, and the service was wonderful! We will definitely be visiting again for a great family sushi date.
(5)Nick M.
The buffet is a must! Very high quality sushi, excellent presentation and service. We sat at the sushi bar due to limited seating in the restaurant. The buffet includes about 80% of all items offered on the menu. This place is a hidden gem. We just moved to the area, but we'll become regulars here!
(5)Carolyn P.
Blah- Overpriced for what you actually get. A huge portion of foods that should have been hot were lukewarm at best. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here.
(2)Eric T.

They ruin everything!

very good place to eat. HIGHLY Recommend this place. the service is incredible !

Amazing all you can eat sushi restaurant!!! The owner is such a great guy, very sweet and very hard working. The sushi is delicious and their green tea ice cream is to die for! This place is perfect for FRESH all you can eat sushi. Five stars and five thumbs up (:

Buffet is a no brainier. High quality sushi. Service is not great but food makes up for it. Awesome selection on buffet too.

(5)Jeff Y.

(5)Carol M.

(5)Elizabeth S.
(4)mari m.
(3)Nancy Z.
(5)Chatty Birdie B.
Parking: There's a parking lot and many parking spaces on the street if that gets filled up.

i liked the place the waiter is very nice i been there few times already.. sushi was good also and the price was fair! recommend
(4)Lady W.
it is OUR place. that is what we like to call it among our very huge group of friends. because when we go we take all the seats. and eat. like really eat. their sushi is so good. no, beyond good it is perfect. the place is too small though but we dont mind we love it.
(2)V H.
(4)Pam S.
(5)Alex S.

Besides, you're probably going to make more money on alcohol than the food, so why not offer more?

we live down the street from Sakura and we tried it for the first time last night.

Sushi is expensive and most buffet places mess it up, but Sakura does Sushi right and they bring it right to your table! The sushi rolls were very well done and there were some great non sushi items too. The plum wine was sweet and good too.

Rolls are a little small not huge! Decent but the all you can eat fresh cut buffet for $21 draws me there! Best deal around the area! If it wasn't for the buffet I'd go to other places

Love it here! Jay is the waiter and he makes everyone feel welcome. Sushi is amazing and even though they are a buffet, they are very generous with the seafood.

no complains except since the place is so small, staff is minimal = service is slooooowwww also, some stuff on the main menu (like calamari) are not on their buffet menu if those 2 things were fixed i would give this place 5 stars

A Yelp User named Wei C. emails and solicits advertisement for Sakura. Very strange, as the sushi is NOT fresh, and the service is bad.
(1)Sean C.
