My daughter and I are becoming regulars here. The food is very good, we haven't had anything bad yet. The omelets are quite good, my menu favorite is the BBT (bacon, basil, tomato), but there is usually an omelet special (last weekend was a Farmer's Omelet with bacon, cheese, jalapeno). There is usually an Eggs Benedict variation and some kind of waffle special. Portions are generous, ingredients fresh, presentation good, prices quite reasonable. The service could not be better, the waitstaff there are so friendly and attentive. Management checks in to make sure everything is good. The place has a nice neighborhood vibe, we are seeing familiar people when we go. Also, there is a nice outdoor area, check it out while the weather is still nice.

We just moved to the Newton/Watertown area and we have been looking for a good place for brunch. This place had a ton of great reviews so we tried it out today. It was awesome! We got the chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and the BLT omelet. Everything was excellent (especially the bacon) and the service was fantastic. All the staff were really nice and they all seemed to work really well together. This is definitely are new brunch place and new favorite restaurant!

Best diner in Watertown. The siblings who own it are funny, nice, and amazing people! Armand and Lisa are reason enough to visit, but the food is amazing! And much more reasonably priced than Deluxe, the other popular Watertown diner. Only downside is that they get crazy on the weekends. That's to be expected at a diner so great. Go ASAP, but if it's a weekend be prepared to wait a bit.

The best breakfast by far!!! The specials are always amazing. If you haven't been there, you have to go! One of my favorites is the corn beef homemade hash..."delicious". The staff is amazing, special thanks for the impeccable service to Renee and Monique! Lisa, the owner is always there to makes us feel welcome and make sure everything is running perfectly...Great spot.

It's good ... but ... I just can't see giving it more than 3 stars. I had just a coffee and blueberry pancakes for breakfast and everything was entirely good, just not better than that. The pancakes were good but not very remarkable. I probably wouldn't make an effort to go out of my way to visit but I was next door getting my car serviced.

I love this place! It is tasty and everyone is always very nice! Sometimes there is a long wait, but they take your name and make sure you have coffee if you want while you're in line. Never tried their homemade muffins but they always look so delicious!

Best breakfast in town. Friendly service and awesome lunch specials every day. If there is a line out the door it will be worth the wait.

On a rainy Saturday, I figured folks would stay in. Nope. While we didn't have a wait for our tiny table for two by the entrance at shortly before 11am, as we enjoyed our yellow toned meal, a crowd began to gather before the doorway to wait for a table to open up. The Italian Scali french toast with Nutella and caramelized bananas $7.99 on the menu caught the eye of both diners. It arrived plated as three folded over slices, and a squeeze bottle of syrup sat on the table for our convenience. It was tasty, but not nearly as luxurious as I had imagined... it would have been so much better if they had been generous with the Nutella and the bananas had been cooked down to more intensify its natural sweet fruit flavor. The single slice of pumpkin pancake covered much of the plate. It was thick, yet fluffy, and fragrant with the squash and seasonings. Breakfast to me (well, outside of the home anyhow) means potatoes, so we added a side order of the Home Fries for $2.99. It arrived as a good mound of potato chunks, seasoned pleasantly. I would have preferred a crispy version, but as it was, it was still good. Bathrooms are located around the counter, the point of the room furthest from the door - by the exit to the patio. Credit cards are accepted. *** July 2012 *** Another month, another visit! This time it was a nice Saturday morning. We arrived at 8:30am and had plenty of seating options to choose from. Probably because some parties elected to sit out on the patio. Service was pleasant and prompt. We shared three selections: . Belgian Waffle with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, whipped cream and powdered sugar $8.99 . the pumpkin pancakes from the blackboard . Italian Omelette $7.99 (sweet Italian sausage, green pepper, onion & provolone cheese), comes with toast and homefries Breakfast was enjoyable. The pancakes were luscious with the melted butter soaked in and sweetened with a drizzle of syrup. The omelette not over stuffed, but rather tasty. The fruit on the waffle fresh, and the waffle itself just fine. This 2nd visit almost nudged my rating up to 4 stars, but memories of the stuffed french toast still currently rounds it down to 3 stars...

Really Solid diner. Legit specials as well. I had the Brie, Grilled Tomato, basil, and egg sandwich. There was also the a sweet potato hash eggs Benedict on the specials. Pancakes that my wife got were good as well. The people there were really friendly and talkative. One caveat is it's a bit small, so it might be a wait on busier weekends mornings. Otherwise, I say go for it!

Awesome spot for a quick breakfast or great lunch specials. I had an omelette that had really fresh ingredients and a great texture. Coffee was solid, cute mugs and branding. The atmosphere was nice on a Wednesday morning, with a folky soft playlist going. Really enjoyed my trip there, the service was pleasant. Overall a really cute place to have a nice breakfast or lunch.

This place is perfect for breakfast/brunch in Watertown! Worth the wait on weekends. Great pancakes and the specials always change. Lots of coffee options. Friendly staff.

Family-run, wonderful people. Best food in town- I live in the city and travel out to Watertown to eat here on Sundays with friends. They have a nice outdoor patio for when the weather is nice. I recently had a western omelete and it was delicious, but their waffles and pancakes are awesome (and HUGE). well-priced and delicious.

It was noon. My newly independent daughter and I were looking for a breakfast place. She wanted breakfast. I wanted lunch. She lives in Oak Square, Brighton. It was a lovely Sunday -- so we knew we were likely to face a wait wherever we went. She picked a place I had not heard of -- this place, The Diner at 11 North Beacon. I said sure. We drove the 8 minutes or so from her apartment. I laughed when I saw it. It was in the same spot as one of my favorite diners -- Talk of the Town -- in Watertown Square. That place and I went way back -- great food, reasonable prices, absurdly large portions. There was a wait -- but with just two of us, and with us willing to sit at the counter -- it was only about 10 minutes. (Booths took another 10-15 minutes to seat). The staff were alert, hardworking, prompt, friendly, and helpful. Just what you want when you're hungry. The food was first rate. My daughter had scrambled eggs with pancakes and coffee. I had a Cuban Sandwich with potato salad. Hers was "great" and huge - with coffee regularly refilled. My Cuban Sandwich was terrific -- thick slices of ham, ample cheese, excellent pickles. The potato salad was good. And the size of each was almost embarrassingly large. We left full, happy, and smiling. Thank you owners for keeping everything that I liked about the place -- without adding anything I don't like (except maybe the popularity that causes a wait for a table).

I love this place. The wonderful, fresh, well-cooked food (hash & poached eggs and their corn muffins are my favorite) is accompanied by excellent, friendly service. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Firstly, don't church it up, dirt. If you are a diner be a diner. If not, don't imply that you are. Stopped in today instead of waiting in line at deluxe. Should've waited in line. Seated promptly, coffeed promptly, served promptly by polite waitresses. We both had potato cake Benedict. The potato cake was pretty tasty with a good jalapeño kick. It is deep fries however. The hollandaise was like tasteless disappointing yellow gravy. Great hollandaise is a critical component to excellent Bennys. And this falls below the mark. Eggs were eggs and the English muffin was fairly bland. The potato cake saves the dish but it's a shame that it gets an insulting slathering of less than mediocre hollandaise. Coffee was ok for industrial drip coffee. Maple bacon muffin was utterly tasteless Here's the rub- the bill. If I am going to a diner, I am NOT expecting to pay more than 40 dollars including tip for two specials, a muffin and coffees. WTH? This is the burbs not Craigie on Main in the republic. Kinda done here. If I am in the mood for a spendy Brunch for two, Craigie on Main will get my dollars. Cheap diner, Wilson's in Waltham. Medium brunch, deluxe in Watertown. You've lost me here.

Great breakfast place! Love sitting at the counter on a weekend morning. They brew New England Coffee which I love and offer a variety of homemade breads and muffins. The staff is very kind and keeps the coffee cups full. I have had omelettes, eggs Benedict, waffles and the homemade hash. Each meal has been great and what I really love is how clean this restaurant is. Many diners and breakfast shops are dirty and greasy but not this one. Definitely check out the Diner!

I finally got around to trying this diner in my neighborhood last week. We were there right as the doors opened and there were already 2 people sitting in there. Watertown folks love their diners! The food was decent. I wasn't blown away by my breakfast burrito, but their specials sounded amazing. My dad was with me and got a nice big ol' serving of french toast which was quite tasty. I will say that I was a bit disappointed that most of our food was luke warm at best. Since there were only 4 of us in the whole restaurant I would have expected my food to come out piping hot. There is an outdoor patio which is quite lovely and the service was great. This is a good option when in Watertown Sq., but I don't think I'd wait for any extended period of time for a table.

Food is always good. They are attentive to refills and bringing you the check. Only downfall is it's small so weekends prepare to wait.

A very unassuming building hides a modern diner with great food and service at a reasonable price. The main room is decorated tastefully and was spotless. Freshly baked pastries tempt you from the display cases on the counter. I ate here for lunch and got the Turkey Club. Freshly baked sourdough, real un-processed turkey breast, and hearty bacon strips. I got the house potato chips which were still warm. Absolutely delicious. They seem to have an a great breakfast menu, and I noticed a few people who ordered waffles that looked fantastic (why didn't I order waffles?). I can't wait to come back and try their breakfasts. The waitress did warn me to come in before 9 on weekends to avoid a wait. I paid $12 (with tip) for a great meal and walked away very satisfied. UPDATE: The waffles are awesome!

Home cooked diner food. Weekly specials are a nice touch. It's not a huge place so if you go right at the lunch rush you may need to wait. I recommend stopping in.

This place was a wonderful brunch place (I am reticent to call it a diner because its not open all day and it has a small menu). The pancakes and waffles were really good, like really great. They are a combination of fluffy and crispy at the edges. The waffle came with fresh cut fruit and fresh whipped cream. The coffee was good and the tea selection was great (Mighty Leaf and Lipton varieties). I really suggest looking at the specials board before ordering, I was halfway through my meal before I saw crab cakes Benedict and pumpkin pancakes on the chalkboard. The one weak point: I wish the wait staff was a little more attentive, but overall the service was decent and fast.

I heart this diner! My boyfriend and I both work second shift so we go out to breakfast a lot. Often times breakfast for us is around noon-1pm. The Diner at 11 North Beacon serves breakfast all day. The waitress is super friendly. Water, coffee, food is all served in a timely manner. They always have new lunch and dinner specials written on the wall. Prices are low. Food is good. We'll keep coming back.

A great place for a belly-filling breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I have friends that are loyal to New York Diner and that place is okay, but this is much better. The daily breakfast specials are always worth considering, and the regular items are good, too. I'm particularly fond of their omelets, they use really good ingredients for the fillings and that's important because a dish is only as good as the ingredients you use for it. Pretty good coffee that usually gets refilled before you even have to ask. Friendly staff. The baked items are homemade and always worth checking out. Parking can be tough, it's tempting to use the lot right next to this place but you're likely to get towed if you do.

Today was my first time trying out this breakfast place with my boyfriend that lives near Watertown square. We walked there and sat down in just a few moments. The staff was super super friendly! Def felt like a family owned place. The food was awesome! One of the best Belgian waffles I've ever had.. Tons of fruit. Eggs were great. The homemade corn beef hash was excellent! My boyfriend said the pancakes were awesome and fluffy. The only thing that kept my review from a full 5 starts was that my boyfriends orange juice had a bit of froth on the top that was a little weird.. And my coffee was a little weak. But other than that the place was great and we will definitely be back!

In all my years of living only three blocks from this place, I have never tried it - mostly because to get there you need to maneuver all the traffic in the square (walking or driving). After having yet another bad server experience at my favorite place, I convinced friends to try this out. We were there on a weekday, so it was easy to get a table. I thought the layout was like an old time-y diner - not as kitschy as Town Diner but certainly better service and food. All three of us had the pancake special - cranberry, apple and walnut. I was not sure I would like this combination at first, but I had nothing to fear. All the flavors worked well together and the pancake was well done too. It would have been nice to be able to order a short stack or have that option. The tea I order was just a teabag, but at least I got a pot to put it in, not just a cup - that was a nice touch too. The server was alone and he managed the area really well and he was so attentive (and adorable). I will definitely go again, especially when warm weather comes back because they have an outdoor area away from the street.

Short and sweet. Great food. Friendly service and reasonable prices. I didn't feel that our food was under a heat lamp or had been saturated in oil/butter. Nice place for an early Saturday morning breakfast. We will be back.

I want to give The Diner 4 stars but until they improve their service I have to stick with 3. We drove by today and were intrigued by the outdoor patio so we decided to stop for brunch. The patio is lovely and the menu and specials all looked delicious. We were seated quickly, and then we waited. And waited. There were only three tables of patrons seated outdoors and there were similarly few patrons inside so I couldn't figure out the delay. Finally an attentive busboy noticed we hadn't been served and he went to get our waitress. When we were able to place our order, I chose the breakfast burrito and Rich had the pancakes. And then we waited. Again. After about 30 minutes we were served, though my plate was missing the promised and essential salsa that makes a breakfast burrito a breakfast burrito. I waited (again) for our server to return outside but after 15 minutes I went inside to ask for it myself. The manager seemed genuinely apologetic for our obvious lack of service but the waitress, who had busied herself with Windexing a window instead of serving the 6 tables for which she was responsible, was in no way perturbed. Bizarre. The food was great: I loved my burrito, and the accompanying home fries were especially flavorful. Rich's pancakes were particularly good; big, fluffy, and with just a touch of cornmeal, they were some of the best I've tried in a while. I will return to The Diner and I really hope that next time the service has improved. Otherwise I don't think I'll add it to the regular weekend rotation.

This place is on point. Very clean and cozy, perfect music playing, friendly clean cut staff who are attentive. Most inportantly the food is great! I just scarfed down a ate of steak and eggs. Everything was prepared perfectly and it was the right amount of food. I don't feel like I need to go home and take a nap, but I'm happily full. The home fries are really good, toast is great (scalli). I also like that they are creative with their menu offering seasonal items like pumpkin pancakes. Sounds soooo yummy! Next time I will have to try them. :).

Just checked this place out today... I liked it! Food: Quite good. I'd say average portions. The menu selection was not cookie-cutter, which I really appreciated. Toast and hash browns didn't blow me away, but I really enjoyed the Italian sausage omelette. Service: Good, relatively quick. Atmosphere: Quaint, quite small (may be difficult to get a booth but there are a few bar seats). I love that they played classic music (a la Sinatra era)! Overall, I would go back & I would recommend to a friend.

I went to the Diner for lunch one afternoon with my son and mother. We were seated immediately and after a few minutes of deliberating on the choices, we ordered. My mother ordered a hamburger with potato salad. When it arrived, there was no lettuce, or tomato on it. When I asked the waitress if she could bring lettuce and tomato, she was rather snippy, saying 'you should have asked for it". We were never asked about drink refills or if we wanted coffee or dessert. When I was given the bill, $.99 was added for the lettuce and tomato. I have never eaten in a diner or restaurant where I was charged extra for toppings AND was given "attitude" to boot. There are so many other places in the area. I will not be returning.

Food is pretty good, great coffee but terrible service. The gal who brought us coffee and bussed the table was great, but the waitress/owners sister (I think?) was the worst. Long story short, half our party was forced by the waitress to order before the full party arrived and so half our party got their food while the rest of the party ordered. When I complained the waitress was condescending and unapologetic. I don't plan to return.

So, I guess Talk of the Town is under new ownership? It's gotten a nice little facelift and upgrade and thankfully, the pancakes are just as delicious. My husband and I got brunch here this morning with another couple and it was so good! I succumbed to the siren song of the pancake special and ordered the banana coconut pumpkin pancake. Yes, better than it might sound or better than it sounds, depending on your taste. I didn't even use syrup. Unnecessary. My friend had the roasted zucchini omelet and loved it while her husband had the Italian Scali french toast with Nutella and carmelized bananas (which is just plain evil for breakfast). My husband had a simple breakfast sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. We arrived around 10am and expected to have to wait, but we sat right down and we were out of there within an hour! There was a small group of people waiting by that point. Our waitress was friendly and bonded with the guys over going to tonight's Patriots game. The music was terrifically terrible- I'm sure I heard Phil Collins, Hall & Oates and Anita Baker while we were there. Can't wait to go back! I've heard there's a patio...

Probably the best diner in Watertown and maybe in the area. The service is great and the food will put you in a food coma. Been here a few times since the new people took over. I love it. They always seem to have deal on Eversave or Groupon. I loaded up on a few of them to use here. The staff is very nice and provide great service. The food is great and the prices are just right. I typically order The Diner special. Basically the basic hungry man dish with the option of pancakes or french toast then eggs, home fries and bacon/sausage/ham. The pancakes and french toast are both fantastic. I am picky about my pancakes and french toast but at The Diner they are both hard to beat. Scali toast is always a plus. Everything always seems and taste so fresh. The coffee is superb. It's New England Coffee but for whatever reason tastes better than when I make it at home. It's easily the best option to go in the area.

Breakfast: It's the most important meal of the day. Since arriving in the Hub eight months ago, we've tried to expand our experience while developing some reliable "go-to" options. For pizza, it's Regina. For BBQ, it's Sweet Cheeks. Somehow, we've had two great breakfast finds: @Union in Allston, and Aram's in Belmont. But today we wanted to explore. We ambled down Arsenal to see what we could see. At an intersection we saw an innocuous place with a moderately legible sign: The Diner at 11 North Beacon. Yelpers seem to dig it. What the heck, let's try it out. One Boston U-turn later, and we found a cozy parking spot right out front. It only got better from there. As we came in for our first visit, we were greeted enthusiastically by a server behind the counter. The brassy blonde had a Bruins shirt on, but we were willing to overlook that! She offered us outdoor seating, which we don't always like but today would have been a good time to do that. We peeked out there, and it did look nice. Instead we slid into a booth. One of the first things we noticed was a very clean restaurant. It looked like it had been refurbished the right way, and maintained since. Cleanliness is sadly a detail some diners overlook. (I'm looking at you, Deluxe Town Diner.) This place was spotless. It looked brand new. Our server also pointed out specials posted on a chalkboard near the entrance. They looked pretty good, especially the Hawaiian omelette. Will have to try that some time. This time, we were just going to cover the basics. I went for two eggs over easy with home fries, three strips of bacon and a couple of blueberry pancakes. My companion wanted a waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, as well as her own bacon. Naturally, a couple of cups of coffee would be needed. The coffee was rich and fresh. The scene was great; the music was at a pleasant volume and even John Mayer songs couldn't kill the vibe. Soon the food arrived. It was piping hot. And it was delicious. The eggs were exactly as requested. The potatoes were delicious. And the blueberry pancakes were perfection. The fruit seemed very fresh; noted was that the waffles had fresh-cut berries instead of the sometimes dicey compote most places use. The owner, Lisa, stopped by and refilled our cups. When we were done, the table was cleared quickly. We would have loved to linger, but people were piling in and we would have felt guilty tying up their table much longer. Unfortunately for us, fighting crowds to get into this place is likely in the future. Fast, friendly service. Tasty, reasonably priced food. A clean, warm, fun environment. Can we come back tomorrow?

I had the breakfast burrito. This place isn't going to change your world but it will mend a hangover. I am a fan. The coffee is unoffensive. The staff is very polite. The kitchen and eating dinning room are clean.

Only eat here if you are sitting outside on the back patio or if you are deaf. If you sit inside, your ears will bleed from the most horrific soundtrack one could possibly imagine. Picture this - John Tesh, Yanni, Celine, Kenny G - and these are the BETTER artists that they play. It's honestly so bad and so loud that I wanted to scream and cry and hurl my food at the manager. But I decided to YELP it instead. 3 stars because the food is pretty good, and that's ultimately why you're there, right?

Tried the place out after we got an "eversave" (like a groupon) for it. Ambiance: Cool, laid back, but still diner-ey vibe. The music was awesome (Bobby Darin and Frank when we were there). Nice brown tones to the place seemed to class it up. Service: Super polite, and pretty nice. Did make any faces at my constant requests (really, I'm annoying - how do people put up with me?). Very casual and friendly. Food - This is where it falters just a touch. It seems that the place was classed up (I haven't been to the other diner in forever, so I don't really remember the "before), but the food is just your basic cheap diner food. I guess we expected a little more based on the decor. I wanted my eggs and bacon undercooked, got the the eggs a bit on the underside, but the bacon was fully crisped. The hash was....eh. The "hollandaise" tasted like chicken gravy. I wanted to give it three stars based on the "meh" food, but they were just so dang cool to talk to, that you have to kick it up a notch for that. Not sure we'd trek back to it though.

Very happy w/ breakfast here a couple weeks ago. I seldom get pancakes so ordered the combo w/ eggs, sausage, homefries and one excellent pancake. Crisp exterior, fluffy interior, the way they should be. Good home fries, grilled English muffin, will be back. I agree the music kind of sucked but when I asked what was up with it, they changed the station.

They spiffed up the joint, added a patio, and gave it a classy new name--and for all of that, I'm a fan! My server (a smiley guy named Kenny, I believe) was great. So nice to deal with a friendly face first thing in the day. (So much better than the "whaddya want" vibe at most diners.) My breakfast and oj were only so-so. But good enough that I'd go back. A l'il note re: the patio--apparently it doesn't open until 8am, in order not to disturb the neighbors too early in the morning. But a leisurely diner breakfast out on the patio (plenty of umbrellas!), sounds like a great way to start the day. Looking forward to my next service appointment at the VW dealer next door, so I have another opportunity to kick off my day here. :-)

This is by far the best diner in Watertown! It is a cozy, friendly place with impeccable service. The decor is nice and homey and the staff is so welcoming, you feel like you're walking into your own kitchen. The food is out of this world, whether you're in the mood for breakfast or lunch, they pretty much have everything you would want on the menu. There are always specials written on the board hanging on the wall and these have been some of my favorites. The homemade muffins that are out on the counter are a great start to any meal. When the weather is nice there is an outdoor patio where you can sit that just makes your meal that much more enjoyable. Prices are very reasonable too. Definitely recommend this diner to anyone in the area looking to have an incredible breakfast, brunch or lunch. It closes at 2 so make sure you plan accordingly!

3 1/2 stars I never went to the Talk of the Town Diner, so can't compare this to its previous incarnation, but the new diner has a lot to recommend it. First and foremost: good service, everyone was fast and friendly. I liked the patio -- nice place to breakfast on a sunny weekend. The inside booths didn't look very comfy, but hey, it's a diner. There was ample counter seating, and the guy behind the counter was super friendly and attentive, and I bet it'd be a lot of fun to sit and the counter for breakfast when he's running the counter. The tea selection (an ongoing peeve of mine, since I'm not a coffee drinker) was very limited -- a small selection of Mighty Leaf teas, which were offered up only after I whined a little bit about the Lipton. :) As for the food, I had the basic Two Eggs breakfast, which was solid, no real complaints. But I wished I'd gone with one of the specials, which looked great and included proscuitto asparagus benedict and ricotta pancakes. But the basic two-egg breakfast is always the test of a place, and after coming to The Diner once, I'd come here again.

My original impression of this place was 4 stars, but after going there about 6 more times since, I am changing it to one star. Why? First off, the owners are hardly ever there any more and their staff is frankly, lame. One particular incident happened about a month ago. The surly wannabe homeboy with the reversed baseball hat behind the counter was too busy texting on his phone to care about actually waiting on customers. I also feel that the quality of the food vs the price is slipping. If I am going to pay $14 for eggs Benedict, it better be really good. ... Papa Razzi has Eggs Benedict with two nice size Fillet Mignons, and free Mimosa for 16.99. We tried to like this place, but over the last couple of months, each time we go it's something else. Today, I ordered the special which was Bacon Avocado and spinach Benedict. Sounded great, but what I got was a disaster. The bacon was flabby and undercooked....like a Bandaid. and the spinach was raw, like in a salad? I just didn't get it. I asked for coffee with milk, and the container of milk they brought me had a a ring of sour milk around the top, from sitting out too long, then refrigerated, then put out again. This not only made my stomach crawl, but my coffee tasted weird, I ordered another cup with new milk...problem solved. My guess is they reused a container of milk, that they had given to another person. That is disgusting....and probably illegal. I know at home, if I leave out our milk in a picture, it takes a full day to get that ring, so I know this milk was old. I could go on and on about little petty things......MUSIC........but will leave it alone. I think the owners need to talk to their employees if they want to continue getting good reviews.

I'm a Vegetarian, found a chunk of ham in my breakfast burrito, waitress insisted that was impossible and basically implied I was lying. Incredibly rude, terrible service. Definitely never returning, low quality food, bad food separation/hygiene practices apparently and bad service, why go here when there are so many other options?

Had brunch and sat at bar (October 2012) steak tips were a bit too medium for medium/well for my taste as the first meal of the day. the homes fried were hunks of potato with the only flavor from the flatop's browning. the only standout was the pumpkin pancake and i dont really do gourds. very savory and not sticky sweet so only a bit of syrup was needed - yum. the offfernings were good but nothing spectacular enough for me to want to ride the bus out of the city to eat there again.

Yummy food and very helpful staff. I called around 10AM to place a large lunch order for 12PM and they had everything squared away quickly. They put together a really nice sandwich platter and beautiful salad. The sweet potato fries were delicious too! The delivery even came sooner than expected (when does that ever happen?). It was a very good experience and I will for sure order from them again.

Pluses: the food is good. I had very good pancakes & my husband had an eggs benedict special that he enjoyed. Minuses: the prices are almost laughably high. Pancakes (and a side of bacon) and eggs benedict, plus two cups of coffee= $31 before tip. I understand that they're trying to be a "classy" diner, but come on! I can get brunch at Aquitaine for less money! The service was also not good. It started off well--our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived promptly... and then we never saw anyone again. I tried to catch someone's eye to get more coffee (what kind of diner lets your coffee cup sit empty??) and later to get a check, but to no avail. We finally had to ask at the counter for our check. There are a lot of other good choices for breakfast in the area. I don't plan on returning to The Diner @ 11 North Beacon.

This weekend was my first time at the Diner and it was fabulous! The food was terrific (I had "The Diner" breakfast special). We ate out back in the patio area. I had no idea they even had a patio - it was cute. Quiet and secluded out back, with patio tables and umbrellas. It was a gorgeous sunny day. Lovely. There were four of us -- two had breakfast and two had lunch, and everyone was delighted. Can't wait to go back!

I have been going here for years and the new owners came in and brought some new twists to the menu. The specials are unique and delicious. The only drawback is there is usually a line but that moves pretty quickly.

I came here while waiting for my car and the Sullivan Tire next door. Great place! I was greeted with a cup of coffee and tried the *special* Pineapple French Toast which was delicious! Definitely a great dinner and will be back soon!

I liked it here! I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning and was able to find a spot right at the counter. The service was great! I ordered the veggie omelet with one piece of the french toast they had on special and they were both great! I received my food quickly and never had to wait/ask for anything. I think there is a patio in the back for the warmer days, I would definitely go here again!

The actual diner is exactly what you want in a Diner. Retro dining car, small but spacious. It's a friendly, family owned place where the food is always consistent. There is also a nice outdoor area in the back for sunny days when you don't want to sit inside (and have to listen to bad music!). I've tried omelets, wraps, and sandwiches and have always liked my food. It's not the best ever, but it's fine for a diner. I would recommend this place mostly for a beautiful day where you want to sit outside and have food that's just fine- not bad, not excellent, but fine.

I ate here with my boyfriend recently for the first time since it reopened and we had received a coupon for $5 off $18 or more. The staff was extremely friendly and service was good. They have tried to make the menu healthier, which I'm a fan of, but overall I would give 3-4 for the food. We got an egg scramble and whole-wheat banana chocolate chip pancakes, both of which were pretty good but nothing amazing. Coffee was good but I didn't get any refills, which I would have liked.

I am a devotee of The Spot on Main Street, but The Diner has gotten my full attention after one visit for breakfast. The atmosphere, traditional cozy diner, is pleasant, and the staff attentive. The menu has all the requisite breakfast items but brings some flare to them. I had apple cinnamon walnut pancakes that killed! My companion was happy with her eggs, home fries and toast. The coffee was good. Music was a little loud, or maybe it's just hard to get away from it with a speaker on every wall. Still, the experience was very satisfactory and I can't wait to go back and see what other culinary delights await.

Went here for breakfast today...my entire experience earns 5 stars. The specials today were great. My friend ordered a "stuffed apple French Toast with a special filling" and it was a huge portion and absolutely delicious! The young waitress was very friendly and accomodating.. I told her I needed to lay off from eating too much carbs and she immediately was willing to list items I would like and offered me a generous side of fruit as a sub for my homefries. You can tell the staff have a good understanding/energy with one another. Usually with my Diner experiences you don't feel like the waiters care or even come back to check on you but she did many times and it felt like she really wanted us to feel comfortable and enjoy our stay... the place was very clean, the food was delicious, and the service was fast. Wish it weren't about to rain so we could have sat outside, but we will definitely be back! Definitely a hidden gem in Watertown! Try it out!

I used an Eversave coupon to try this place and I will definitely be back!! I met a friend on a weekday around 10:30am and the place was almost empty. I think it was just the time of day and not a sign of bad service or food. The menu was very interesting: mostly regular diner food but with a nice twist. We both ordered the asparagus omelet special that contained tomatoes, pepper jack cheese, and ham (I got it without ham). I ordered a fruit bowl as an appetizer and it was really nicely arranged; who would have thought a fruit bowl at a diner would have nice "presentation"? It was full of fresh fruit and not that gross syrupy stuff; it had apples, watermelon, honeydew melon, and cantaloupe. The omelet was delicious; the asparagus and other ingredients seemed fresh. It came with sweet potato home fries on the side; they were not what we expected as they were very mushy with no skins. I prefer crispy home fries but they were still delicious. The service was great and the restaurant is nicely located near Watertown Square. One tip: the awning still says Talk of the Town Diner; don't be confused. It's now officially called The Diner. I am not familiar with Watertown and this really confused me when I looked it up online ahead of time.

My family of 5 just came back from breakfast at The Diner. 2 of my kids and my husband are pretty picky when it comes to breakfasts, and I tend not to like traditional breakfast foods myself. But breakfast at The Diner today was GREAT! The food was delicious and hot, the service fast and friendly, and I love the music (Dinah Washington and Frank Sinatra- what's not to like?!) One of my kids had the French Toast with Nutella and carmelized banana, another had the Breakfast Burrito, I had the Burrito w/o a wrap, we all had the home fries- and I had one big happy family. Portions are a good size, and the prices reasonable. We'll go again!

So we are staying at the Westin Boston Waterfront which is about a 15 minute drive away but the concierge told us this place is amazing if your in the mood for a greasy spoon joint. So we drove the 15 minutes! We arrived at this small little quaint diner and this SUPER NICE hostess greeted us and made small talk, her name was Ana. We waited outside in this beautiful cloudy breezy weather for about 15-20 minutes. We were seated at the bar and were immediately greeted by a gentleman with a smile. We ordered two water and a hot chocolate. We viewed the menu and in less than 2 minutes knew what we wanted. I ordered the diner and my girlfriend ordered a junior omelette with ham and cheese. The food was brought out to us in no one maybe 5 minutes. The food was delicious. I ate the food and forgot to take pictures so sorry for the empty plate picture. Our waitress Marielle was wonderful. It was a very homey environment everyone knows each other loved this place!

This is the BEST diner in the area. I've been going here for over a year and everything they make is awesome. From the eggs benedict to the pumpkin pancakes, everything is fresh and flavorful. The staff is so friendly! Whether it's your first time or your 100th, they make you feel right at home. Lisa, Marielle, Anna and the entire staff are great. The perfect staff for this amazing local joint. Quick tip: get here before 10am during the weekends. It can be a bit of a wait but it's so worth it!

What a wonderful find. A family run diner with great food and selection of home baked goods. Easy access to street parking and an outdoor patio. Missed several exits on the I-90, so we took the next exit, Newton. Turned on yelp and found the closest diner. Luckily it was the Diner at 11 North Beacon. Not much to look at but when you enter it is like being home. Friendly faces and atmosphere. Good selection of omelette pancakes and everything else you need for breakfast. Great food at great prices. This place is your best bet for a hearty breakfast.

After a day of Santacon, this place definitely hit the spot. It seems to have it all: great food and good, warm service. I had my diner usual: corned beef hash and poached eggs, wheat toast and home fries. Definitely bonus points for a homemade corned beef hash. However, the one star was for the fact that it's more of a mush than it is a hash. It was also a tad bland and could have used a bit more corned beef. Toast was nice and very dark. Home fries were big chunks of potato with lots of garlic. Yum!! As busy as this place is, they don't rush you out. They're very fast even in the tight space they have. And they're pretty good with chit chat. I'm pretty sure any other dish, and this place would have gotten a 5.

We LOVE the Diner at 11 N. Beacon. We each get "The Diner" almost every time because it comes with everything -- eggs any style, bacon or sausage, home fries, and French Toast or buttermilk pancakes. Great service. Sometimes there's a wait, but I've never had to wait more than twenty minutes. The wait staff is so nice. Always happy to provide coffee to people waiting for a table. It's a little small, but that contributes to its character and the intimacy / old-timey American diner feel of the place. Love their homemade orange juice and also their smoothies (of which I was skeptical at first, but they're amazing, especially The American, which has vanilla milk, blueberries, strawberries, and banana). Can't get enough of this place.

Moving away from the city and closer to the 'burbs, I thought I would be missing out on all the amazing dining experiences that Boston has to offer... THIS DINER PROVED ME WRONG! I love this place. They just GET IT. I ordered the BBT omelette and my cousin ordered "The Diner", which I was secretly happy about because I wanted to try their pancakes, as well (gluttonous much?). My omelette, sure - it wasn't the most photogenic thing in the world but it was SO GOOD. One of my pet peeves with omelettes is that the egg part is usually too thick and overwhelming. This omelette had a thin egg outer-layer with just the perfect amount of bacon bits. sigh... I could go for one right now. And the pancakes? so good!! I am not really a pancake person, but I could have ate the entire thing, if I wasn't so full from my omelette. Stating that this place is perfect is overdoing it just a TAD bit. I walked in the pouring rain for this place to find that they don't seat you until your entire party is present. Since I was waiting on my cousin, who is always "fashionably late", I ended up waiting 30 minutes and watched at least 7 different parties sit down before me. I'm sure everyone reading this is thinking, "that's your problem", but I was sad that they made me stand there forever when there were many empty tables/seats available :( Anyways, to make this a happy ending, the hostess was incredibly nice and seated us IMMEDIATELY when my cousin showed up because she knew I waited so long. They checked up on us multiple times during our meal and I had nothing to complain about from there on. I will be coming here on a weekly basis from now on, if not a daily basis!

It took us a while to try this place and I'm so glad we did! Been here 3 times and have yet to have anything bad. The staff could not be friendlier! Managers always check in with tables. I've only had their breakfast and it's great. I especially like their omelettes, bacon and their special Pineapple Waffle I had this morning was to die for! There are many diners in Watertown and this one has become my favorite. Also Yelp gives 10% off your total bill and they take LevelUp which can also save you money if you become a regular.

This place is really close to me and my family and I go in often. My son loves the pancakes and I'm a fan of the Reuben sandwich. Coffee is pretty good too and the service has always been fast and friendly. I wish they were open later!

Ugh, how come I just discovered this gem today after three years living in Watertown?! Everything is perfect. Hubby and I definitely love the heated banana cc coconut muffin - we both agree that it is the best muffin we've ever had. (Also I love how the fresh looking muffins are displayed on the counter, which somehow makes seating at the counter very heartwarming.) The Eggs Benedict I had was awesome. I especially love the fact that the ham is thick-cut but not too salty or fat, and that the flavor of the hollandaise sauce was not too creamy or sour. Besides, I love the cozy lighting and ambience here. When we had the first bite of the muffin, we both know that we are definitely coming back.

Every time we come here we have a pleasant experience. Service is amazing the owner and manager are always there and they are the sweetest. Their food is YUM! They feature different flavor profiles every month which is nice. Although everyone here is awesome, Marielle is our favorite. She's always so attentive and she has great recommendations. The one thing is that it's a smaller place so either get there early or be ready to wait a few minutes for your table. Just remember that they let you start drinking your coffee as you wait so it's never a long process. I will always come back. Their homemade pastries are awesome!

  • Fred H.

Parking is generally not a problem. There's plenty of street parking with no meters. If you find yourself waiting for seats then help yourself to coffee in the corner near the doors. On a nice day, you can ask to sit outside. There isn't much to look at back there but at least you can get some sun with your breakfast. When it's busy, parties of two will have to either sit at the counter or wait for smaller tables. There are a bunch of longer tables that they reserve for parties of three or larger. Get the pumpkin pancakes.

Easily the best diner in Watertown and beyond. The staff is amazing, super friendly and helpful. The best advice they gave me was *always check the specials first *. In the summer they have outdoor space which is rare. PS my profile pic was a daily specials omelet with chorizo and other goodness. I love this place!

Being a father of 2 i am always looking for children friendly places. I get to wherever i need to go before the 8 am rush. We got here at 7:45. At 8 am it was packex. I didn't give 4 stars just because all high chairs we're being used. All (2) of them. They food was good and came out promptly. Pancakes we're very good. The sausage was average and the cornbeef hash was good. Staff was helpful and friendly. 3/4 into our meal we got a high chair! Yay.

Perhaps the best service I've ever had. They give coffee to anyone waiting. Amazing, right? Super welcoming to my children. It's now my go-to diner. The food is great. Clean and classic dinner atmosphere. I ordered fruit for my toddler and it looked like a work of art. Wish I could give 10 stars

Love this place. My wife and I have started coming here for brunch every weekend and after 3 weeks the staff already knows us on sight. The food is excellent. I'm a big fan of their Denver omelette (always add mushrooms) and their eggs benedict (add tomatoes, please!) My wife is a huge fan of their pancakes, especially with a bit of fruit on them. I think the only thing that might possibly reduce the rating for other folks is that the wait can be kind of long and there's really no good place to stand. This isn't a big deal in warmer weather but when it gets cold it's kind of unpleasant. Also, the table right near the door gets every draft when people open the door. It's not great when it's cold outside, especially when people just stand in the door trying to figure out what to do. In or out, those are your two choices. I recommend in, for sure.

This is my favorite breakfast place in the area. Everyone that works here is so friendly and helpful. Plus, they give you coffee if you have to wait for a table which is a great touch. I usually go for "The Diner" so I can have my eggs and pancakes and everything I've had here has been delicious!

In a town that is packed full of diners, The Diner at 11 North Beacon is head and shoulders above the rest of the pack. The food is top-quality stuff and they're always experimenting and trying new specials. If you want scrambled eggs, toast, and bacon - they've got you covered. If you want a battered and fried eggplant benedict with fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese, fire roasted red peppers, and sweet basil - they've got you covered. On top of amazing food, they've got the best staff in the city, county, state, time zone, etc. I cannot say enough about how much I love this place.

This place is the best breakfast around, hands down. Omelets are perfectly portioned with a little bit of everything in each bite (my fave is the Denver), home fries are fresh and seasoned to perfection :) oh and the scali bread is so wonderful! The smoothies (I think our fave is called the American?) are to die for! Freshly squeezed orange juice? Yes please! Oh! And the muffins! Holy cow, muffins will never be the same for you after you try theirs! They are home made, grilled and buttered to order and I'm pretty sure made with a little piece of heaven :) lol And even though the food is exceptional, the service and friendly, happy and family - like atmosphere makes this place an A++ in my book. Don't be afraid of the wait either! It's a wonderful place to be, which means it gets packed during peak times, but whether they are busy or not they will take care of you! TRUST. It is worth the wait ;)

Surprisingly good, especially for the horrid selection of diners in the Watertown area. I've gotten the breakfast burrito several times and I've never been disappointed. Excellent potatoes, great selection of hot tea, and the cappuccinos are delicious.

Oh, my - what a happy surprise! We were in town for the weekend, and the first 2 places we tried were either closed or packed, but I'm so glad they were! I honestly think this was the best breakfast I have ever had at a diner, and we will definitely be back the next time we're in the area (in fact, we may plan a trip sooner than thought just to go back!)

Who does not love a great diner? I used to go to this place in high school and since then has been remodeled. It is so freakin cute inside. The first thing you notice is how warm and cozy it is (first went on a rainy boston morning and again today, super cold!) There are glass pastry displays along the counter filled with amazing homemade baked goods and muffins. They had pumpkin spice coffee and when I asked for milk, they brought a whole cup of steamed milk. Talk about going above and beyond! We were a party of 7 and everyone was making slight changes to their order - they got every single thing right. AMAZING! Our waitress was personable and funny, the other staff is really busy keeping everything clean and tidy. I think it was the owner/manager who was very welcoming and saw us out, everyone was really nice. Don't miss the Diner at 11 North Beacon!

My boyfriend and I just moved to Watertown and were excited to find our new brunch spot. The Diner is a no brainer! The staff is so friendly and make you feel like you're in the kitchen with your family! The food was delicious!! I was so stuffed but cleaned my plate! It is first come/first serve so there was a 10 minute wait. But they offered us coffee as we waited which was so sweet! Sitting at the bar is the best seat in the house. We even took a berry bread pudding to go...heaven in my mouth!!

  • Kelly F.

I just moved to Newton Corner and this place is around the corner. You bet, I will be a regular! You walk in, and even if busy, the staff is sure to great you, and not just say hi while looking down at whatever else they are doing, they are genuinely kind and acknowledge that you just walked in. There's coffee that you can get yourself while you wait to help soften any wait that you may have because the place is small, but I was lucky to find a seat at the bar. There were fresh muffins all over the counter, the fresh squeezed OJ was incredible, and the food was exactly what I was looking for! I had a ham and cheese omelet, with a side of bacon and my boyfriend had the steak and eggs. Both dishes were beyond our expectations and we will be back again this weekend! Parking is tough, the street parking only has a few spots before the car dealership 'owns' the side walk so you can't park there. If you're within walking distance (which I consider my 15 minute walk within that distance) then you should be here all the time!

This place has become my new favorite diner! The food is really amazing. I'm seriously in love with their banana coconut chocolate chip muffin. Their home fries always taste fresh. The service is super attentive and friendly.

Good - not great. I like the idea of an upscale diner, and I've come here many times. Never had the breakfast food, only lunch. While some of the standbys are very solid, others, that should be easy, disappoint. Why make an adult grilled cheese sandwich with American cheese, for example? I will definitely be back because the people are nice and I know they're trying. I'd just like more of the food to measure up to the prices.

  • Katherine M.

Wonderful diner, great staff, awesome food! There isn't a ton of seating, so there can be a 10-15 minute wait but it is 100% worth it! I had the Italian omelette and my boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. Both were cooked perfectly, and you are getting awesome food for a great price! They have freshly squeezed orange juice which I highly recommend! Great breakfast spot!

Everything here is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I come here with friends almost every other weekend; sitting in a cozy booth during the winter and outside on the patio during the summer and fall. The corn beef hash is homemade and absolutely outstanding. The omelets are perfectly proportioned with egg and filling, the egg sandwich is always a winner, the baked treats are hot and tasty and the coffee is fresh. I am very glad to have The Diner only a short walk away from my house.
