After arriving in P Town later than expected my husband and I were thrilled to see Ross's Grill was open. It's tucked away on the second floor of a tiny shopping center. It faces the water and has outdoor seating if weather permits. Pros: everything on menu sounds good, decor very cool, small and cozy, service top notch, great bar area, desserts looked really good. Cons: a bit dark inside, hidden from view so you don't know where they're located. We had fish and chips and a salad special. Fish was light and perfectly cooked. Portion was just enough for one and served with really good fries. Salad was arugula with Serrano ham, manchego cheese and dates and had a very light dressing. We were served a small bit of French bread with dipping oil with it. Had two cape cod draughts. End note: go here.

Great view of the water! Fairly small and intimate space. Our waitress was awesome. Food was outstanding! I got the lobster and scallop risotto which caused me to eat with my eyes closed while shaking my head slowly in the "no" motion, because it WAS that good. Dessert was some peanut butter pie thing. So so good! If you want a great meal, then I say go here.

Went there because of reading the reviews on Yelp! We were very impressed! Sat at the bar and had a wonderful evening! Most of the clientele are local which is impressive ! Great place to go if you like Wine! Cesar, the owner takes real pride in his collection! Talking with him he helped us select a very nice bottle we loved and at a decent price! Price range from $45 to 200 and over 75 wines by the glass! For dinner we had the Crab stuffed Filet! Outstanding! And the scallops on fennel purée, this too was incredible. Wish we had stayed in town so we could have enjoyed more of the wine! Will go back the next time we are in P town. Oh yeah, great view of the bay!

The food was very good. However the most notable event of the meal occurred when we entered. We used Open Table for reservations. We asked for a harbor view with our reservation. We uttered the request upon entering the restaurant. The hostess was indignant about our request and put us in a corner away from the view. Not sure why. There was an open table closer to the view which she filled with people who came after us. She was officious and totally without class. If they let her go, we might return. But, we'll never know if they let her go.

This would have been a wonderful evening had we not been seated at the back of the room by the incompetent hostess. Despite making reservations several days in advance we were promptly escorted to the tall table near the bar. I know that P-town doesn't cater to diversity, but this was beyond the "pale." I did approach and politely request a relocation after three other tables with a full waterfront view opened up - but was told dismissively "I have tables outside. If I move you I'll have to assign a new server. (News flash - not my concern). The flavor of my meal was tempered by the dissonance of the seating experience. Try other places that understand what customer service is really about.

Started with dozen of wellfleets. Proceeded with the daily special, halibut, scallop, and shrimp fettuccine (house made) in a light basil cream sauce. Fish was cooked perfectly, and pasta al dente. Delicious! The ambience is casual, great for romance, family and/or friends.

This is, without a doubt, the best onion soup I've ever had - and I include most of Europe and Asia in that. We tried a few other things, but the portions are so huge, it became impossible to do anything but take the rest home. This is a short review, I know - but try the onion soup. And the view. Both well worth it.

Ok...so... We started with the Butternut squash soup which I did enjoy. My partner hat the panko crusted crab cake appetizer. The crab cake appeared to be deep fried and there was more breading than crab so that was a bummer. I had the duck which was tasty and a nice portion. The rice and green beans that came with it was not worth finishing. My partner had the salmon which was also tasty but again given the same rice and beans. The place was nice and the staff friendly. It just didn't give us that WOW factor.

Ross' Grill is located on the 2nd Floor in the back of the Mini-Mall - the place has a small deck with beautiful views of the ocean. This is a very casual place to dine however a little loud, especially if the next table has a bunch of people who do not know how to converse in a soft tone. Yes, I want to hear all about your colonoscopy while I am eating. Back to our meals :-) I came here with friends and had the following: Salmon with Soy Ginger Glaze, cooked to perfection that was just delicious. My other friend had the Soft Shell Crabs over Basmati Rice, and thought the dish was good. Also, our other friend had the Lamb Chops but, thought the chops at The Red Inn were much better. All and all, try this place even if you want to have a drink out on the deck, you can't beat the views and they do have Toppers.

One of my all-time favorites. The spectacular view often means rotten food but not here. Have the risotto!! Great service too.

Great location, nice water view if you come early, drinks on the back deck. Food is prepared very well and the service excellent. All dishes where tasty. Drinks a little weak and the stingiest tasting cosmo I have ever had, must be the cranberry juice they use. Will be back for the food!

Flash back to 2014 Carnival week (8/19 to be exact just getting to this) is a lovely restaurant on the water, Ross' Grill (next to the Crown & Anchor, 2nd floor, back of the mini mall). I've been coming to PTown for years and my friend and I decided to get out for an early dinner before a show we were seeing at 7:30 PM. Reservations? Who needs reservations? We'll just saddle up to the bar, have a quick bite, knock a few back and be happily on our way to our show. HOLD IT! It's Carnival Week, one of the prime weeks in PTown and we find that even the BAR is RESERVED. Who knew?!?! Well, NOW I know. Upon arrival at 6 PM at Ross' thinking we'll slide in; they AINT having it. Frankly, most places won't have it. You need reservations, even for the BAR. Yes, that's right. No matter what time, what day, before you arrive in the Province Lands, my suggestion is call ahead and reserve. I find most places in PTown are not on Open Table, Not good in the digital age. PTown is still in the digital divide, what's up with that? I find year after year, you have to call ahead. So use your fingers in the 508 and start dialing. But at Ross' (a rarity) you're in luck. They ARE on Open Table, but you could be reserving the bar, and not know it - so you have got to call if you don't want to be seated there. OK, I digress, back to our Ross' Grill experience. Ross' looked like it was just ramping up being early dinnertime, not too busy, yet. The hostess, so gracious, advises us that we need reservations, but looks in her magic book and states if we "can be done by 7:30" (which we know we had to and it was plenty of time), she could sit us at the bar. GREAT! We're in luck - we'll take it! Mind you, this year is a cooler August week than I can remember in at least a decade. The front doors are wide open and to our backside is the lovely Provincetown Harbor, doors open to the balcony. But some normal New England nights, it's breezy. So much so, it made for almost a wind tunnel of cool air (trust, it didn't hit 80s this week in August), while sitting stationary it feels almost frigid. I'm sure if I was running around serving people, I would love it. But to be leisurely seated at the bar with a constant chilling, blowing breeze, brrr - I needed a shawl. "Hey Stevie Nicks, can I borrow your shawl?" Thanks! In any event, we were greeted by a nice gentleman bartender. As I watch him work and we ponder our drinks and food, I feel this gentleman has worked here a while. He's tentative, talkative to what appear could be regulars/locals or seasonal renters. Nice to see as it gives you that "Cheers" feeling. My friend and I place our drinks, apps/first course and main dish orders. Great we're on our way to being out and on our way within the hour and-a-half. As my friend and I sit and chat, we savor our drinks - Yum, very good. My friend got the French Kiss martini and I ordered a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (the name eludes me but it was very good). For pre-main course, I ordered the Caesar salad and my friend had the Wellfleet Oysters, market price of course! Do note, Ross' offers Happy Hour for tapas and raw bar from 3 - 5 PM daily. Something to check out because most higher end restaurants around town do this and you can get some great raw bar foods for a great price. Our salad and oysters were great. Main course: my friend and I both got the Fish and Chips (yeah there's a nice selection to choose from that look yummy), we we were happy we ordered them. It was one of the most lightly battered fish I've had for fish and chips. Very good, not too heavy. Food was great. The menu offers a nice variety of seafood, steak, chicken and even duck. I would love to go back to try other dishes. But what do I say in many reviews? Service is just as important as the food. Food earned high marks. But we notice the bartender almost acts as if we're invisible. If we hadn't placed a food order, and have had to pay for it, you could just consider us invisible. I'd say like Casper the ghost but we had summer tans. The bartender does get credit for "checkin in" on how our food was, but it was almost an obligation, no heartfelt feeling like he even cared. I know this because we felt he almost overlooked if we wanted another drink as it came at the end of our meal. Also, when we paid, I had a small request that he was clearly not looking at me or listening to one word I said. Oh thanks for being attentive and being so warm and welcoming. Is it because I'm not a local? A regular? The others receive the "Cheer" feeling while us fly bys get the ice princess reception complete with cold shoulder. Ross': great location, food and I'm sure the ambiance at dusk is spectacular. But service was a bit lacking and I have to reduce your rating to a 3. If you have time and can get a reservation, I recommend Ross' but make it a point to be engaging with your bartender, server in hopes there is a nice vacation welcome in there. . . somewhere.

This place was enjoyable for the food, location, menu options. It's American style so burgers, salads and sandwiches. I ordered French onion soup ($9) and the steak asian salad ($15), both were delicious and fresh tasting. The salad had more steak than lettuce! My friends ordered chicken prosciutto mozzarella sandwich, the raw bar (littleneck and oyster), and a scallop wrap. Everyone loved their dishes! The views are amazing, its right on the water, 2nd floor. We needed a place for a last minute lunch around 2PM in the semi-offseason (early May) and Ross's was great for that! They serve lunch until 2:30 and then start tapas at 3, followed by dinner later. Minus 1 star because the service wasn't the best, the waiter was nervous and didn't know the menu or what was in each dish. The service could've been more attentive. I would recommend this place and definitely go back here.

At ross grille again for holly folly. As always Cesar is amazing and the food and ambience are incredible. My favorite place to go ! We had the coconut shrimp app and the Merlot is one of the best we've had. Having the special pork shank. Looks amazing !

Let me begin by saying I have been coming to Ross' Grill for several years and loved it. Great views and great bar area. However, today I was completely surprised and disappointed with my dining experience. It is clear to me something has changed with the management but definitely the professionalism, and in particular the host. Upon arrival for lunch, our party of 4 was seated quickly as there were only three other tables currently full. Shortly thereafter the restaurant was full, which we took note of and commented how it was serendipitous that we'd arrived just in time to beat the kitchen rush. Well we were completely wrong. We literally waited 45 minutes for our food, as we watched table after table get their onion soup, clam chowder, etc all items we ordered to eat, empty their plates and pay their bills. Obviously we were annoyed but our server was great and apologetic. However, it was just TOO long and not really acceptable. At which time I called the host over, and he tried to feed me a line of BS about the onion soup taking time and hence the delay. Meanwhile people had come and gone after having the same soup. Don't take me for stupid. His tone was demeaning and unprofessional. All would have been well if he simply acknowledged the problem, apologized and moved on. But he rather chose to be defensive and unprofessional. Clearly, the kitchen needs a better ticketing system to insure customers meals are properly timed. Or maybe it's the general management that has fallen short. I'm saddened by this experience and question whether I will return again.

While in the past, Ross has always been a fav end of trip spot. So I was disappionted today when at entry, we were told we couldn't be seated for a mid week lunch because our grp of 5 was too large. The host simply told us "they only have 1 lrg table" which has a group waiting for it so they couldnt accomandate us. - no mention of any other options - in fact he simply just stared at us - as if it was up to us to suggest alternatives. I'm not sure if it was host laziness, he not wanting to do a party of 5 at 1:15, or if it's just the resturant policy not to move tables, but In my day moving together 2, 4-tops which can seat 6, even with a short wait was usually an acceptable solution. We ended up eating at the more flexible Frappo66 instead. BUt its important to know - I am criticizing the service here - or rather lack of, and not the food - which continues to be be top notch in many cases. My suggestion - call for reservations and save Ross for a night dinner and leave casual lunch meals to more flexible venues.

Unfortunately, we never got to eat here. My partner and I made reservations at this place almost one month ago on Open table. Despite this, we were given a high top table that felt as if we were eating at the bar. We politely asked the hostess to move elsewhere and despite the fact that there were two open tablesand several parties of two seated at four tops at the restaurant., she rudely refused to give us a table. She claimed that the other tables were taken by parities of four, yet when I checked on Open table they showed as available. They also have NO two tops because they are only interested in making $ We went to Devan's and the experience was 100 percent different Rude and pretentious - there are better options in P town

Great place...the view is everything. Great atmosphere...dim lighting and intimate with view of water. They have a great outdoor balcony overlooking the water to sit and have a drink while waiting for your table...but no food outside. You need a reservation. Food was excellent...service friendly and great. They have a good wine list with reasonable prices...great desserts...my favorite calamari in Ptown.

We came here for Valentine's Day dinner and had a great experience. The service was speedy and friendly, the food was great and the atmosphere was intimate but lively. The most memorable thing about the meal was the dessert! It was a lemon pie that was just amazing! The oysters were good too ( hard to mess up raw oysters) and the salad was good, but a little dressing-heavy. We were here when it was dark, so we didn't get the great view everyone talks about, but the restaurant had a nice atmosphere overall. It's definitely pricey, so I don't think we'd be back here unless it was another special occasion.

Ross's Grill continues to be an outstanding restaurant. We are thrilled for new owner Cesar who has largely kept the menu the same with some interior updates. Great wine and beer list. The bar is a place to eat. Everything here is great. Caesar salad, steak frites, scallops, cod, love it all.

Excellent food. Excellent wine/bar. Cesar (the owner) is FANTASTIC! Restaurant overlooks Ptown harbor. Drinks on the terrace - SO relaxing. Overall, one of the BEST eateries in Provincetown.

Great spot, recommended by people on here so the three of us decided to try it. The waiter was friendly, I forgot his name, but he was super helpful picking out a wine. The food was excellent, and came out pretty fast. They do serve bread, although it was not heated up, but it was still good. They have a good selection of food and it's a nice place inside with a fantastic view. I recommend making a reservation for sure. After dinner we sat on the back deck overlooking the bay with the moon reflecting on the water, it was nice. And my friend saw an older couple having sex on the beach. It was quite funny and entertaining! Haha. But that aside... Make a reservation and go eat here, you won't be disappointed!

Came for dinner after reading great reviews. We were seated promptly and the table had a great view of the water. Service was outstanding. What's lacking here is just the overall menu. No specials, limited appetizers for non seafood eaters, and the entrees were just okay. With a little work on the menu, this place could truly be fantastic. I had the seafood risotto which was actually pretty great. The fiancé had the mixed grill, and the man who loves everything with sauce said the best thing on his plate was baked beans. We shared a wedge salad, and it was tasty except for se brown and wilted lettuce. We'd go back for drinks, service, and scenery, but for grub well go elsewhere.

Great food, great ambiance, great views. Ross is a triumph. Tonight the lobster/scallop risotto was superb, as was the seafood stew. You really can't go wrong here.

I just stopped in for a drink with my girlfriend, so cannot speak to the food. My lack of a five star experience has nothing to do with anything that was lacking, I just don't feel right giving them five stars without dining. What I will say though is I don't think we could have found a better place to enjoy "moonrise" cocktail. Staff was very friendly, bartender gave me a great gin suggestion, and their wine list was second to none! If you want a glass of wine, don't miss this spot. Tons of great choices! The real jewel though is the back deck. Up on the second floor with a cozy little view of the water, the pier and the moon rising over the water. It's very romantic and a perfect spot to enjoy drinks.

I love this place. The first time, we stopped in on a whim after whale watching in Provincetown. It's a small, quaint place, so it's a good idea to have a reservations, but we were luckily able to be seated that night. We were all really happy with the food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Everything was delicious. The drinks were great and really reasonably priced. Our server was attentive and helpful. Overall, excellent. Our friend, then, requested that we go to Ross' Grill for her 30th birthday. Again: they didn't disappoint. Our server was excellent - sweet and attentive and helpful but not overbearing. The food was great. The calamari was one of the best that I've ever had. I had the filet mignon, which just melted in my mouth. My boyfriend had the lamb, and was really happy with it. All this to say: I'd come here again in a heartbeat.

My favorite meal of my week in Provincetown. This place is just wonderful! The view of the water is nice, service was great and the food was the best we had all week. We were all so happy with our choices. We had some time constraints because we had a show to get to and they were really great about that. From appetizers to drinks to entrees, we all loved everything we had, I don't think you can go wrong here. I will be back at some point in the future!

We had heard good things about Ross' Grill online, so we decided to try it. A very intimate restaurant with great views, a full bar and a nice menu. We tried their housemade sangria, which was very good. My friend had a crab cake, which was also very good and filled with crab meat. I had the shrimp, lobster and scallop risotto - exceptional! One of the best meals I've ever eaten. I would definitely visit again if I was back in cape cod again!

  • Rebecca G.

This place had a great view, great atmosphere, and great service. I didn't think the food was that great. The french onion was way too cheesy and even greasy. The steak was okay. Out of everything, the winner for the night was the lobster, shrimp, andouille sausage risotto. Delicious!! I'm glad I went to experience it and think it is worth visiting, but I am not dying to go back...unless I ordered the risotto b/c it was very tasty.

Had dinner here again during our yearly visit to Provincetown. This restaurant is *consistently* great. Consistently good food is the true mark of a great establishment. There were so many good things on the menu, that the two of us ordered a 3rd entrée for the table to pick on as we each ate our main course. Service was also on the mark. We seem to get the same server each year when we visit - which also says something about this place - people also like to work here. Do yourself a favor and make reservations when you come to Provincetown and have dinner at this wonderful place!

4.5 stars. High end cuisine with AMAZING views and rock solid service. Good raw bar list, delicious French Onion soup, decent entrees. One complaint would be for a Cape restaurant the number of fish entrees was surprisingly slim. I had the salmon and it was fine, if a bit uninspired. Well-cooked and the lentils were adequately seasoned but I expected slightly more. The bar is average in terms of its liquor stock but $9 martinis mixed correctly is hard to beat if you're from Boston, the land of $14 watered down swill. Wine list is extensive, cheap, and well-constructed. Kudos there! If this place expanded its liquor selection at the bar and included a few more fish/seafood options it'd be a strong 5.

Great food....grilled romaine salad and the grilled tuna along with peanut butter pie. Great vibe....only four stars because when I arrived 18 minutes late for a 9:15pm reservation my table had been given way.

Great dinner last night we had the seafood risotto, ,steamed clams, halibut special and the salmon all dishes were prepared to perfection. The previous owner retired and Cesar ,who has been the bartender for many years, has taken over ! In the past the food was inconsistent but all three diners were happy with their selections. New ownership is a welcome change and our waiter Jeff was excellent. We will definitely return !

P'town needs fine dining and Ross's Grill provides it. The menu is complete, right down to dessert. The seafood is fresh, everything was well prepared. They even have an impressive wine list. I highly recommend Ross's. reservations are a must.

Great food... relaxed quiet atmosphere . The food never disappoints, the service is friendly, respectful and efficient. Local scallops, crab cakes with real blue crab, decent wine selection. They also have a deck that faces the bay that you can have a cocktail on while waiting for your table.

My "gang members" and I went to Ross' last night after the Carnival Parade for dinner. The same waitperson (Catherine) who waited on us the last time we were there, was assigned to us. She has the most engaging way about her that we all took an immediate liking to. For dinner I had a "peel-and-eat" shrimp appetizer. I normally would not order peel-and-eat anything because I don't want my fingers to smell of fish after the course was over but as I was having a seafood entree as well I took the plunge. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and nicely chilled with a very tasty cocktail sauce. I had one of my companions' oysters as well and that was lovely and briny and fresh with a tangy mignonette sauce. For my entree I had sauteed lobster with lemon cream sauce over linguine. The lobster was, once again, perfectly cooked and the sauce was ever so delicately scented with lemon giving the whole dish a wonder taste and a velvety finish. Although I rarely have a glass of wine with dinner I enjoyed a glass of sancerre that was suggested by Catherine with my linguine. All in all it was a terrific meal and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

This place has been a long standing favorite of ours. (We recently celebrated our engagement here too!) Great food, service & atmosphere. The "waiting room" deck overlooking the harbor is lovely. I'd just as soon be seated out there as in the actual dining room. The bartender is a blur behind the bar, making drinks for the waitstaff, waiting customers, and bar customers to whom they are also serving food. Their burgers are fantastic. Basically, they upscale comfort foods to make them a bit more interesting than the typical, but they don't go over the top with fancier dishes, which could otherwise lessen the comfortable, casual atmosphere.

How the heck did I not know this place existed until now? Tucked back aways from the main sprawl of the Commercial Street drag, Ross' Grill has prime ocean view real estate. We were looking for a place with a view of the ocean to drink a cocktail or two. We ordered at the bar and sat out on their patio, which is lined with wooden benches and covered in beautiful plants, giving you a lush garden vibe, while you stare out at a pristine ocean view. Because it was the off-season and between lunch and dinner, the patio was completely empty, other than the occasional person who came out for a few seconds to ogle the view. We basically had the entire deck to ourselves. Ahhhhh... it was wonderful, worth 5 stars in and of itself. I am not giving a full 5 stars because I didn't love my wine (which was a little pricey) and we didn't try their food. I am hoping to go back soon to actually have lunch or dinner there, and provide a full, revised review then.

This place is over rated. The food was decent but not excellent, and the experience was tarred by very slow food delivery and poor service. Our server told us they were out of mussels 30 min after we placed the order. It took 45 min for our food to finally arrive. When my brother gave feedback to the waiter, the waiter basically ignored us. We understood why he was so disengaged when we realized they charged us 18% automatic gratuity (was in fine print at bottom of menu that parties of 5 or more are automatically charged). There is a nice view but the place itself is dark and overall a view does not in my opinion compensate for poor quality food and service. I would not come here again.

Three pretty full, big glasses of Lillet for $15? Anytime, you hidden restaurant. We didn't get any food, as the restaurant was closed between lunch and dinner, but were able to sit on the covered deck and watch a wedding on the beach from above. I'd come back again, be it for cheap wine or for some food. P.S.: please get some signature cocktails, Ross' Grill-it's boring to order something I have to think of myself besides wine. A Lillet cocktail, perhaps?

Great view and wonderful food...BUT, at the end of the meal we tried to pay our lunch bill of $27 with $40 and were told by the waiter that they didn't have any change. (even though the restaurant and bar were packed). We reported this ridiculous situation to the hostess who sarcastically said "I'll fire him immediately" We were very polite in relaying the story to her and the whole thing left me with a bad taste! Obviously a busy restaurant can make change of a $20! I'm guessing the waiter wanted us to say oh just keep the rest. Not cool for a nice restaurant.

The view is fabulous and the bar is nice. I ordered the French Onion Soup because I was in the mood for it and no one else in P-Town serves it. It was the worst French Onion Soup I've EVER had. The cheese was too fatty and oily; the broth had a lack of beef flavoring. The place overall is overpriced for what it is and the service is lackluster. An overall unimpressive experience and not a place I plan to return to.

Second meal this week at this wonderful spot. Great views, wine list has lots to choose from with a substantial selection by the glass. Both meals were superb. I had lamb chops the first time and a porterhouse steak the second. Both were cooked to perfection exactly as ordered. My partner had a veal chop and sea bass, which she raved about. Service is also good here. Reservations are always a good idea, but we were accommodated both times as a walk in with a bit of a wait. This may be my new favorite in town.

As a vegetarian, I was worried that this place wouldn't have much for me to eat other than salads. There is a mushroom risotto appetizer on the menu, but it's actually made with chicken stock. I asked our waitress if the chef can make a vegetarian dish, so they made me a pasta dish, and it was out of this world- sauteed fresh tomatoes and spinach in what i think was a white wine sauce, with cannellini beans and grated parmigiano-reggiano. Delicious! Everybody else seemed to really enjoy their seafood. The atmosphere there is really nice, and the wines we had were really good. The place is very popular, so try to make reservations in advance if it's a busy weekend.

The best place we ate n P-town all week! The French Onion Soup was HUGE, the wine great and the Filet/Lobster the best. Very intimate, great views and good service rounded out a great experience.

Ross' is all of the wonderful, amazing, lovely things that everyone else has yelped about. Friendly, warm, no-attitude staff, delightful food with reasonably prices, and a gorgeous view of the pier with banks of open windows that permit the breeze to swirl through the open space. If you're planning on enjoying this enticing establishment, reservations would be highly recommended. Particularly during peak season. We rolled in -early- for dinner, perhaps around 1730 or so, and the hostess gave us an icy look when we answered her question of whether we had reservations with a negatory. At that point, I asked if it would be a problem, and she informed us that she could only seat us at the bar. Heh. When is that a problem for me? At this point, I'd just like to point out as a complete aside that there were two two-tops right up against the wall at the windows that remained unoccupied during the entire time we were here. Meh. Anyway, the bar ended up being a serendipitous seating arrangement on two accounts. 1) The direct view into the goings-on in the kitchen... flaming steaks, flipping and seasoning of fish, random and unrecognizable herbs and spices getting efficiently and expertly tossed into cookware. 2) Our fabulous (seriously) bartender, Cesar, who took care of us all evening. Not only was he great about ensuring that we were well-handled on the food and drink front, it was plain fun to watch him in action with a little flair and sauciness. Apparently three beers on tap, which include a fun local selection of microbrews, including a Whales Tale from Nantucket and an ultra hoppy Buzzards Bay. And... well, Guinness. Really? A pint of Whales Tale in and i was feeling grrreat! Do not be fooled by the touristiness and the view. One can entirely escape here for under the $$$ that others have voted for the cost of this joint. We -completely- overordered, at two appetizers, one salad, and an entree... totalling $60, including two drinks per person. The calamari and risotto appetizers, both at $10 each are easily in and of themselves meals. At least, for the regular person who doesn't require to consume enough for an army. We realized our mistake after those two dishes arrived in these monstrous bowls. The risotto was surprisingly light, considering it's well... risotto. And the calamari was lightly battered, superbly tender, and served with a spicy soy sauce that paired really well - way less heavy than the typical aioli. By the time our caprese salad (with an olive tapenade and chiffonaded basil) arrived, along with our fish and chips, we were stuffed. Neither of us could pass up digging into the flaky fish that was ever-so-slightly powdered with flour. Fresh, flaky, and steamy. With wonderfully seasoned frites to go with it. Again, going along with the theme of being excessive and extravagant, I'm pretty sure we had an entire fish and a potato and a half worth of fries on our plate. And a whole tomato and a sliced up ball of mozzarella in our caprese. We gave up after trying a bite of that. Taking off with our remaining spoils in tow, I can happily inform the public that cold fish and slightly soggy chips are still immanently edible as leftovers. I'm not sure how I found room just a few hours later while enjoying the P-town July 4th fireworks from a boat in the water, but it all vanished down my hatch. And the caprese similarly was consumed later that evening by friends with much enjoyment. Fun, fabulous (and I use that word with all of its connotations behind it), and filling... Ross' is definitely not to be missed when out on the Cape! NB: AmEx isn't accepted here. Just Visa and Mastercard.

We made a reservation here largely on Yelp's recommendation, and in short, the view was awesome but the food was meh. There aren't many nicer places to have dinner than a window table looking out over the ocean as the sun sets, and our waiter was pleasant and helpful. However, the experience was brought down a few notches by the quality of the meal. We ordered two fried dishes (calamari and a cod entree), and both were bland, with the batter layer oily and un-satisfyingly un-crispy; the fish felt so heavy and dull that we couldn't finish it. We also had an appetizer of mushroom risotto, which was too salty and a little gluey. Our reservation was near opening time on a weekday -- perhaps it was an off night for the kitchen.

Decided to go to this place one night after a movie because we missed our reservation at Jimmy's. Got in after the kitchen closed, the hostess was very helpful and sweet and did us a solid. The bartender/server was also friendly and prompt. So.... the food here was GREAT. Its a simple menu with well thought out choices, and supposedly the best porkchop in P town. We ended up having the burger, which was soooo good. Definitely a classy yet unpretentious place, the only place to eat in Provincetown that I truly LOVED. It seems the crowd here has plenty of money, but no taste (in food). Nice to see a place like this, I'll take it over the Mews any day

Four of us kicked off the 2013 P-Town season at Ross's this past weekend. The place just open for the season a week earlier and AGAIN is just amazing. Their food is just perfection. I honestly have not had a bad meal there in over 40 visits. The scallop and shrimp rissotto was incredible. I had the crispy cod and it was amazing. Best Cosmo's in P-Town ......well, Harbor Lounge has great Cosmo's too but no food. Already booked a reservation for May 4th !!! Try this place....you'll love it !

Ross' Grill is one of our favorite restaurants in P'town. When we lived in Boston and had a place in P'town for the season, Ross' Grill was always on the top of our list for dinner. We are now on the west coast but were recently back in P'town for a wedding and had dinner twice at Ross' Grill. Cesar is one of the most knowledgeable wine guys in town. Great wine list and great prices. No matter what we order, the food is always good. Favorites include the French Onion Soup, Cesare Salad (especially if you like a lot of garlic!), Wellfleet Oysters, Seafood Risotto, Scallops, and Steaks. I really don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, though! Highly recommended.

The perfect lunchtime spot! The fish and chips were excellent, lightly battered so you could really taste the fish. The Caesar salad with grilled scallops was phenomenal. Plus it's overlooking the harbor. Definitely recommend.

Decided to have dinner at Ross' our first night in town based on all the good reviews. We decided to go all out and ordered: oysters, calamari, french onion soup, mushroom risotto, prime rib, peanut butter cake, and bread pudding. The oysters were great and the desserts were delicious. Everything in between was average. My main gripe was the risotto - it was chock full of garlic or onions - something that made the taste too pungent to eat. My husband ended up eating it and had a stomach ache later that night. I really was expecting a nice creamy risotto but we did not get that. The calamari was great but I did not like the soy based dipping sauce - I think a sweet chili sauce would have been great. The french onion soup had about a 1.2 lb of cheese in it and was like an onion puree rather than a soup. Not sure I would eat a meal here again.

Went there with a group of 6 friends and the host stated that he could not accommodate a table of that size. I have never heard of a resturant turning away customers. The attitude of the host was very negative and condesending. Apparently customer service is at a loss at this establishment.

We had a lot of good food here. The oysters and littlenecks were fresh and fantastic. The fried calamari was served with a spicy soy dipping sauce and was also a great app. The grilled romaine salad, the caesar salad, the gazpacho soup also got fantastic reviews from the rest of my table. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star place for me was the crispy cod. My entree was definitely lightly breaded cod fried crispy but it was way under seasoned and fairly bland and flavorless. Too bad, because it was served with some killer garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. I'd definitely skip this one though. The rest of the experience is great, with fantastic service and a really nice 2nd story view looking out over Provincetown harbor. I will definitely come back to this place.

You HAVE to make reservations in the summer. I called on Tuesday morning and left a message for a Wed reservation and by the time they called me back Wednesday morning they were booked for everything except 6 or 9:30 (and we only had a party of 2!). The view is very nice although the restaurant is up on the second floor so you aren't ON the beach. If you want your fill of beach viewing I suggest getting there early enough to have a drink on their deck. I had the fillet mignon - it was cooked perfectly. The potato side was a bit salty but the onion soup was fantastic.

  • Andrea Q.

Good food, nice atmosphere and pretty views of the harbor. J and I both had the fillet mignon with a mushroom demi glaze, garlic potatoes and steamed veggies. The steak was cooked exactly as I like it, the demi glaze was very flavorful and the potatoes and veggies were also done well. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and pleasant without being stiff and formal. My one gripe with the place is that it was 9pm on a Sunday in the summer and they were weird about serving us even though there were plenty of other tables still being served. The hostess had to ask the cook if it was okay to seat us. I understand that restaurants stop serving dinner at some point but either you are closed or you're not. She made us wait for what seemed like a long time until they figured it out. We could have just eaten somewhere else on commercial st. Other than that - we had a good meal and I will likely go back to Ross' next time I'm in P-town.

Ross' is a great place for a leisurely dinner - the food is good to very good, the harborview setting is fantastic, and the service is friendly, knowledgeable...and very, very slow. We had a great time, but it took fifteen minutes to get a drink order in, and then another 45 (I wish Yelp had bold so I could make that stand out even more) before we ordered dinner. We didn't have a problem with a meal that took, all told two and a half hours, but if you were trying to make a curtain or wanted an early night, you might want to try somewhere else. But, with all that carping out of the way - the food was terrific. Our party of 8 (sat at the only table larger than a four-top, tucked in the back at one side - ask for it if you're going with a group) started with a variety of apps, the standouts of which were the escargot in pastry (a kind of snail pot pie, but fab, drenched in garlic), the roasted romaine salad, and the light and savory lobster-sage ravioli. Mains were just as good - a huge veal chop (special), terrific pork chop, standout sea scallops wrapped in bacon, a lobster-shrimp jambalaya to die for, a more. The wine list was interesting, and our choice of featured red and white bottles proved an excellent choice. We would have had dessert, but the combination of large portions and an increasingly late evening sent us, contented, off in search of ice cream instead. One note - Ross's has a pleasant bar and what seems to be an almost criminally underused harborview terrace. Both would be a great place to meet friends for sunset drinks...

I have been going to Ross's since they opened a decade ago. The food is really good, fresh, perfectly cooked, well seasoned. A great option of lunch, dinner or just a drink and a snack. People swear by the banana bread pudding, raw bar selections, and wine list. And if you aren't in the mood for a steak or seafood, the burger is always nice. During the worst summer rushes, it can get a bit crazy and the service can falter a bit, but overall the staff is usually great.

Visited 3 times (so far), once for lunch, twice for dinner. Lunch: Showed up at the end of lunch, seated almost immediately, very friendly service! For the two minutes we waited, a waiter saw us admiring the desserts so he told us about them. Our waitress was all smiles and helped us with the menu. Lobster roll special was very good, french fries are home made and excellent, salad was generous and tasty. We didn't have room for dessert. Dinner: The thing to get is the rack of lamb, fantastic! I had it both times, it's a full rack of 8 meaty ribs in a delicious sauce. Also at my table were excellent risottos, steak and fish. The soft shell crab app was very tasty and buttery. It's a great value but not cheap. The setting is amazing, the bartender is excellent, the wait staff is great. Can't wait to eat here again!

Oh Ross', I can't say enough! We found this restaurant about 3 years ago during our annual trip to PT. We went again this year on a Saturday evening and had just a tremendous experience. I had an dish off of the special menu (Lobster with Special Sauce) and it was just out of this world. The mussels for an appetizer were brilliant, as well as the salads that we enjoyed. It's not well known, so make sure you remember to put it on your agenda during your stay.

I wasn't expecting much. In all honesty, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Provincetown isn't food, especially down the cape, where the touristy nature allows for even the worst place to stay in business. I also dislike seafood to boot, which in the seafood capital of the world, makes getting by rather difficult. I made reservations for two on a Saturday night earlier that day and found the restaurant with no trouble (located in the back of the Whaler's Wharf building upstairs). Place is surprisingly small and packed, even during the off season. Despite the crowd, we were seated on time and with a great view out the window onto the water (easily one of the best I've seen from any restaurant in town). Lighting was definitely of the "romantic" type; a bit dimmer than I would have appreciated. I reached for the thicker of the two menus, thinking it was the dinner, and opened to about 10 pages of wines. There are some wine stores that don't even have the kind of selection they have here. Decided to order a whiskey sour, which was heavy on the whiskey, light on the sour, but still enjoyable. Menu selection wasn't terribly extensive, but I selected a mushroom glazed 8oz filtet mignon for my meal, despite that I'm not a huge fan of mushroom glazes and cuts that big typically aren't true filets. For one of the first time in my life, I seriously considered licking the plate clean. Meat was tender beyond belief, cooked to perfection. Glaze was just right, as were the seasoning on the sides. My date selected a lobster bisque, which she praised with the same enthusiasm as I. She elected to get dessert, a lemon tart of sorts, which I found a bit sweet for my tastes but she enjoyed greatly. Wait staff was attentive and kind, and the portions were generous, with reasonable prices. Attire and atmosphere was, like almost every other spot in town, casual and relaxed. Certainly a memorable experience, one which I hope to repeat soon.

Pros: The view. It's a nice, cozy quiet restaurant. Cons: They will charge you for wild rice, even if they only have white rice. Know before you go: Was told it's good to have reservations, it got filled up pretty quickly. My Critique: It's too bad I got a sick right before. With that exception, giving it an average rating is still honest. We had the Bay Scallops, Duck, and Mussels. Mussels were ok, Scallops were good, Duck... needs a little work. It's possible that it didn't do it's magic in my mouth because of my puking earlier, but my party agreed that it wasn't just me. Maybe next time I'll give a more unbias review. Alternatives: None that I came across

One of my favorite places in Ptown - have dined there multiple times and it is consistently solid food. The Casear salad is great and the service is always friendly. Nice views from their upstairs porch - it's a shame they don't have seating out there. A small place - make sure you have reservations!

Ross' is worth trying and we enjoyed the food. No doubt they have a great view of the bay, beach and water. The menu is standard Provincetown offering, but they did have multiple "specials". The wine menu is large, the beer offerings were average. The hostess could smile more upon greeting, and our server was average. The food, good overall...we loved the clam chowder(though needed to be a little warmer upon serving), loved the soft-shell crab salad, and enjoyed our entrees of seafood risotto & halibut. Best thing about Ross' is the atmosphere & view. The food was good, just not memorable or unique enough to make us want to return.

A lot of great restaurants come and go in Provincetown. Ross' Grill is consistently my favorite. It has a beautiful location at the end of Whaler's Wharf offering a casually elegant vibe. My preference is to dine at the bar. Caesar, the bartender and owner, takes excellent care of his patrons. Highly recommend the mussels, the crab cake, and the Cod entree. Terrific wine list as well. Don't hesitate on this one.

Four of us.. We are a hard to please group. My experience here was excellent from start to finish. Service was very good; but more important each dish ordered was delicious, well presented and the portions were satisfying . Reminder to self: hand cut fries. The only not so great part was the noise level. Many table in too little space.

Ross's should be called Loss's What a loss of a night for dinner What a loss of $200 for 3 people Food was horrible, dry fish, over cooked tuna and who the hell serves jasmine rice in a perfect mound? Are we in a hospital??? I almost called 911 to rescue us from this mess.

We are here for my partners Bday dinner. Good as always, looks like this season is no different! Mussels very good. Martini's were great! I ordered 2, so did the rest of our party. Seafood Risotto with lobster, shrimp and scallops. Seafood was fresh and delicious. She had filet mignon...outstanding. Wait staff, wonderful! Stunning view of Harbor.

I feel like this is a hidden gem in Ptown. Upstairs in the back of Whaler's Wharf, the restaurant and deck overlook the water and provide a nice view. It is not air conditioned, but well ventilated with fans and large windows. Now the food. We always get the fish and chips. Lightly breaded and flaky. Great portion. I also love their fries, and I'm picky with fries. As for drinks, they have an extensive wine list and make delicious drinks. After our meal, we finished our drinks on the deck. Relaxing and quiet escape from the bustling streets below.

Ross's would get 5***** for their food but the waiter's attitude dropped it considerably. I was also interested in purchasing a gift certificate, but declined when I was handed an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cheap wrinkled white printing paper w/ about a 48 font. I asked to see another, but they had to be purchased in numerical order. Off to Jimmy's Hideaway to get a beautiful colored card I was proud to give as a gift.

We chose Ross' Grill based on the comments on line. We weren't disappointed! We started with some Wellfleet Oysters, then each had the House Salad, my wife having blackened shrimp with hers and I had blackened scallops with mine. We both thought the food was delicious and the view was spectacular.

Back with the man of my dreams. We had a lovely mid May Sunday lunch. The crab corn chowder was ambrosial. He loved his serrano ham fig manchego cheese sandwiches. My bowl of garlicky littlenecks were super good. I had some bread to mop up the delectable broth. I had two glasses of Mahua wine (11.00 a glass/rather pricey) that was chilled perfectly. Our bartender was chill and so cool. The views are sweeping with views of the harbor. Love the new art. Totally a great vibe under new ownership.

Owner Cesar does GREAT job and you can tell the staff & esp the kitchen's chef & staff whom are visible from restaurant - nice to see what's going on - "GET IT" (staff is happy and it reflects in the excellent presentation). I have a feeling that the couple of 1 star folks need to get on back to the big city and resume their Mickey D's drive thru routine; Provincetown doesn't do fast food. Ross' presented awesome quality on all 6 meals our table ordered during our friends vacation and in fact was so good we returned again that week! We found the pricing was better than other restaurants (it is fine dining) adding in the atmosphere and nice portions, perfect al-dente veggies w/ea entrée, wine pairings with each course by Cesar and we were all smiling. Don't hesitate to treat yourself to a special meal in a very special place!

Come for the view, but stay for the grill!! Ross' has a gorgeous view of the harbor and wonderful staff, but the main thing for me is the grill and chefs: you're face to face with the kitchen when you walk in, and the aroma of grilling is spectacular. We ordered as soon as we sat down - we couldn't wait after everything we'd smelled! We had grilled salmon, grilled tuna, grilled scallops - all scrumptious!! They are wizards of the grill! Thank you, Ross!!

We've dined here twice now & it's a solid four stars. A lovely view of the water from its perch gives this place an almost dreamy vibe. Sofas on the veranda lend to that chillax feeling. Service is on point. Food is on point, sorta. The gazpacho was good, very fresh ingredients...refreshing. Missing something, though. Salads with grilled seafood were a hit and a miss. Highly recommend the Caesar vs mixed greens. Inconsistent portioning of greens of one vs the other. But nothing major to whine about. This has the potential to be a truly outstanding restaurant.

Well, I changed my mind. On my most recent visit a few things were way off from last time. It's a shame, because I was pretty excited to return and have another excellent experience. But a couple of things ruined it. Most importantly, the host. Long story short, he was clueless and rude, and convinced me to cross Ptown off my list of vacation options. The food wasn't great this time either. I got a seafood risotto. It was bland, and the lobster was overcooked. The scallops and shrimp were pretty good, but the lobster should be the star. But who cares anyway, I shouldn't have stayed to find out about the food. Our server was nice though. She almost made up for the tool at the front door.

Like wine?, want a view?, make it a point to find Ross' Grill! As you saunter down Commercial Street towards the West End, there are several attractive outdoor dining options on the right, however, find Whalers Wharf on the left, walk about 50 feet and take the stairs up to the second level. Ross' Grill is the bomb. Wine selection is eclectic and to die for, food is fresh, perfectly prepared and served by neat people. We had appetizer of local littleneck clams with garlic & leeks with a delectable light sauce with tasty dipping bread followed by seared scallops over Caesar salad and soft-shell crab on the Caesar. It is nice and cool inside with beautiful porch overlooking the harbor and a cool quiet vibe perfect for lunch. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. This is our go-to lunch spot in P'town, never fails to be awesome interlude from the hurly-burly of Commercial St.

While P-town isn't known for its haute cuisine, Ross' Grill is sure to impress even the more demanding foodies. It'd been a long day by the time we reached Provincetown. It was an even longer walk past dozens of mediocre restaurants with uninspired menus before we finally sought the advice of Yelp. Thanks to those who came (and reviewed) before us...we were steered to Ross. It was late on a Sunday night, but the place was pretty tightly packed. Luckily, the host was willing to try and secure a table for our party of four--within a mere 15 minutes of arrival. We were seated overlooking the water, but again--given the hour--we couldn't really see much. Our waitress seemed to be in a bit of a hurry, so getting recommendations was difficult. Regardless, we started with a few deliciously-fruity sangrias, and went from there. The seafood was out of this world fresh! The veggies were similarly fresh-picked and delicious. From littleneck clams to tuscan haddock, caprese salads and gazpacho, every dish was beautifully-plated, delicately-seasoned, and made with the highest quality ingredients. Serving size was a bit on the small side, but given that we were just visiting the Cape for the day, we didn't want to box up leftovers to cart home anyway. There was both a vegetarian and a vegan in our group, but the limited menu had at least a couple options for them to choose from. In the end, all were delighted with their choices. If not for the dismissive attitude of our waitress (more so at the very beginning of the evening--she later warmed up slightly), this would easily be a 5 star review. I'll definitely visit Ross' next time I'm anywhere near the Cape.

Ross Grill was a disappointment. The calamari tasted frozen and had a strange dipping sauce. I prefer RI style. The steak was good but they only had one on the menu. I had expected a selection of steaks, choice of age and cuts for a grill. The wine was good and the steak was cooked as ordered. OKAY - so it was off season but I still wasn't impressed.

Lovely view and the food was good, but not great. We were there for lunch and I felt like the waiter had a little bit of a "make my day" attitude - and, that was without asking for anything special. The room was exceedlingly hot.

My wife and I dined here a few days ago and the food was outstanding. Having been here for lunch/drinks a few years back we wanted to try dinner. It was as good as we remembered, in fact it was the best meal I have had in a long time. The French onion soup is unreal. I had the steak frites which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the lobster risotto, which she said was outstanding. Superb wine list, great atmosphere. My only negative was we had a reservation but were not seated for 15-20 minutes later. The staff was apologetic as they were running behind. Definitely make a reservation as the place gets packed. It's well worth it, though, and we hope to return soon.

Just ate there Friday night after reading reviews on Yelp. Excellent from start to finish...Wellfleet oysters, Bacon-wrapped scallops, Blackened Ahi tuna and a slice o' Key Lime pie. Able to get reservations at a reasonable time (7:30pm vs. 9:30pm at The Mews) and the service was exceptional. Great views of the harbor, romantic setting.

Feeling generous today, maybe because our server was so friendly and helpful and the view was very nice. It is quite small, but has an outside balcony where you can enjoy a drink before dinner. French fries excellent, among the best I have had. Setting on the second floor above all the craziness was good, with an exceptional view of the harbor. I had the statler chicken which was marginal. Appetizer of ribs were very good. My son's burger was just fair. The caesar salad with chicken was very good. I would go back, but the most memorable thing was the view.

Found it by accident, and loved every bit of it. We enjoyed a gorgeous twilight view from the deck with a pre-dinner drink, and then the wait staff allowed us to have a slow and leisurely meal without ever making us feel ignored. I had the special grilled romaine salad (sounds weird, but it was really good) and I had the porterhouse (mmmm roasted garlic gorgonzola butter!). I liked it so much I almost hate to post this. I'd like to keep it as my little special romantic dinner secret!

I really wanted to try this place because of all the good reviews but as I walked to the door I realized there was no way I could eat in there. The music was BLASTING like it was a nightclub! And it was only 2 pm. Too bad I would have loved to try it.

For lunch, I think it's a no brainer. Terry at the bar is a gem (very friendly, nice guy) and Cesar (sweet and knowledgeable) are always very welcoming. The French Onion soup...trust me...THE best ever. Burgers, incredible. Salads, fresh and amazing. A big fan. And with the great views and people watching, it makes for a great time.

Great meal, food was fresh and excellent. Service was perfect. Have eaten hear many times, always a good experience. I also enjoy coming before the reservation and having a glass of wine on the deck - great sunset view.

First, as of 2007, Ross' Grill is finally accepting reservations. While this may not seem that big of a deal, gone is the former 2+ hour waits to even sit at the bar. Having worked in Provincetown for several seasons, I used to recommend Ross' as a great place to have a seafood dinner (their specialty) along with a glass of wine, in a romantic setting. The restaurant itself is situated on the second floor of a small mall across from the Unitarian Union House. The restaurant overlooks the Provincetown Harbor and bay, and during the evening, you can watch the moon rise over the water from their balcony. Warning: The establishment has only a wine a beer license, so if you are looking for hard liquor, you need to eat elsewhere. That being said, they have several higer end wines by the glass that are a bargin at the $9 price tag. The raw bar is excellent, with oysters from Wellfleet delivered daily, and clams that are sometimes harvested just offshore. But the mussles are their speciality. Cooked in a white wine sauce, my most recent experience had my dinner companions fighting for the last sips of the broth. Other specialities are their onion soup. Entrees can be a bit expensive (but then in P-town...dinner for two can easily run $100), so this isn't the place to watch your spending. However, I've eaten here several times and never once have I had a meal that wasn't worth the expense.

The high point of our evening. We ate Sunday, Sept. 13 and with no reservation only had a few minutes to wait on the veranda overlooking the ocean. The food is always excellent here and the Ceasar salad was amazing - a steal at $8 in Provincetown. Our waitress, Catherine, was so nice and attentive and had a lot of tables, but just gave world class service. She even shooed away a smoker that was outside, but still close enough for the smoke to blow in the screen door (as a reformed smoker, nothing is worse while eating). You know this place is doing well with so many (ahem) gracefully aging men at each table.

We came for lunch. The restaurant is upstairs and overlooks the fishing boat harbor and pier. Very nice wait staff. Drinks were good. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. It was amazing. Besides being huge, it had the best tasting pesto sauce and the bread (very flat and panini like) was one of the best rolls I've had. Our friend had the crab salad and enjoyed it a lot. We'll be back in the next few days. It was that pleasant.

Best view in Provincetown. Good wine list and seafood. One of the places you have to eat if you are in Provincetown for lunch or dinner.

I do have to say I like Ross' Grill in Ptown and have been many times. Nice atmosphere on the water and is open in the winter which is nice... considering lots of place close up. Fresh tasteful cuts of meat so no complaints there and everything came out the way it should be. Now the gripes.. A little overpriced for what you get.. but at the same time I'm not complaining.. its good food and you're parshley paying for ocean view there. The one most aggravating thing I guess I could say was that I've been there many times and the last time.. probably 6 months ago is that they weren't to enthused to cater to my friend who is a vegetarian. Now I know most of you are going to say.. well don't go to a steak hungrily then. I know but hey vegetarians do like to go out with friends and get something at least right. Well the waiter sucked.. wasn't helpful at all. He asked for a salad.. ok got it. then asked for a few of the sides of cooked vegetables... and that would be fine. The waiter said they couldn't all be put onto one dish.. that's not how they do it? So yea he ordered a couple of different vegetables.. and got 4 or 5 little tiny plates with a few vegetables thrown on it. It was actually pretty amusing if you saw what the not so bright waiter brought out. Over all yea good food. Not great for a vegetarian if they are in your party. I do like the restaurant though.

The French Onion Soup is unbelievable here. I order this soup if it's ever offered at a restaurant, and Ross' hands down, has the best ever. Typically we eat at the bar as the staff there could not be any nicer. Whomever I have brought there continues to rave about it weeks afterwords. Great wine list. Rarely a disappointment. Only one recommendation: replace the castors on the bottom of the chairs with plastic ones. The constant screeching of chairs being moved around gets distracting.

Great place to have a delightful meal from start to finish. The service was exceptional, the food was delightful as well. The shell fish risotto was amazing--it contained a week worth of seafood and the escargot puff pastry was yummy. Highly recommend!

Dinner for 4 on a Saturday night. Got a reservation which was amazing. Great atmosphere, they were on time, pleasant and sincere. Great waiter, awesome food: the Steak Frites were delicious as was the french onion soup. Tried the crab cake, nice flavorings. especially the sauce. And the fish and chips were lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Desert menu was a little light, so we skipped it. The bill for 4 was $160, not bad for PTown.

just checked out ross's grill this past saturday. very nice location overlooking the harbor, though there is no outdoor dining space. the food was very good and the bartender who waited on us was very nice, professional and attentive. even the busdude was very polished and professional. they don't have a ton of dining room space, so if you're going on a weekend night better make a reservation if you don't want to be sitting at the bar like we were. also, i think they close for a few hours between lunch and dinner.

Great view of the Bay and the dining room is comfortable and contemporary. Brunch is a great way to start the day and Ross' does a pretty good job with it all. The wine list is one of the better one's in town and as I recall they have quite a few selections by the glass. The pate appetizer was only so-so but the french onion soup I had there made up for it. Service is friendly and attentive. I'd often go in just for apps and a glass of wine on my days off.

We went to this restaurant, which we had visited a few times before, and had one of the worst dining experiences of our lives. We started with appetizers (calamari and arugula salad) and were having a good time. But after another 45 minutes, we still had not gotten our main courses. When we asked the waitress what had happened she said it was coming. Finally a full hour after our appetizers, we got our main course and we told the waitress we were not satisfied with the timing of the food. Shortly after, the owner/chef came to our table and threatened to call the police if we did not pay our bill and leave. We sat there incredulously--we thought we had heard wrong (was this a joke?). There was never a question of not paying the bill and we never said anything of the sort to the waitress or the owner. When we asked why he was threatening us, he again insisted that we "either pay and leave his establishment immediately" or he would call the police. At the end, we told the waitress that we would still tip her because it was not her fault, but she became very nasty and said we just needed to leave. Never in our lives have we had an experience like this. It was almost surreal. Truly the most unpleasant time we have ever had eating a meal in a restaurant. We are still shaking our heads and certainly will never walk in his establishment again.
