Yum!

He the hot chocolate and thank me later. Even on a hot day, it does the trick. Delish!
(5)Brandy K.
Good sorbet and gelato here. Try the Sangria. Sorbet. It's made with a full bottle of wine and is really refreshing it contains whole blueberries and strawberries in it. My friend tried the stracicelli which is cream flavored gelato with chocolate shavings and also said she liked it. I hear they make great gelato cocktails here too! Gonna have to try one next time we're here.
(3)Ori D.
We had Nicky who was perfect. Very sweet and took her time explaining and listening. It really seemed she cares. I had a chicken cranberry sandwich which was great but the pistachio cocktail was something ELSE. Omg it was really good. With almond liqueur and ice cream. Too bad I left the next day and didn't have a chance to try all their desserts. I came back the same day actually for another cocktail and everyone was really nice again. Looks like someone is doing a proper training over there!
(5)Nicolas R.
Over priced cupcake! Red velvet cream cheese frosting taste as if it were made by an ameture.
(2)Judy L.
We were four to stop for gelato after Art's Dune Sunset Tour this evening. We each had two scoops. They were worth it. I had dark chocolate and strawberry. My spouse had salted caramel and saltabaccio. Gerry had coconut and pistachio. Ann had a chocolate coated waffle with pistachio gelato. It was busy at 9pm still. It was dessert for us.
(3)Philip R.
The world's largest and best lobster roll. One full pound of lobster meat. Also Great mac n cheese, we added the scallops. Yumm!
(5)Bill T.
Dark chocolate gelato. That is all you need to know about this place. Make sure you bring a drool-bucket because everything they have will make your mouth water. Gelato, coffee and truffles were great. Service was friendly and efficient. I just want to crawl into a giant tub of that dark chocolate gelato and either eat my way out or die trying.
(5)Scott B.
CHOCOLATE COVERED BACON. The Purple Feather introduced me to this perfect pairing of salty pork and sweet milk chocolate. It is literally a slice of cooked bacon coated in chocolate, and it is quite great. They also have a terrific selection of chocolates, candies, and baked goods, and they all are beautifully displayed and decorated. The espresso beverages are also good, I had the iced vanilla latte, and coming from my Starbucks addiction, it was a nice substitute. The staff here is friendly and genuine. Oh... and NACHOS. Yeah... oddly enough, they have nachos. And while I didn't taste them, I did see them and salivate; they look delicious.
(4)Nicole B.
Get the lobster mac and cheese and you'll be in heaven. And the patio seating at night time is pretty cool.
(4)Taj K.
You can smell this treatery from down the street. They make their ice cream cones fresh and the smell is incredibly inviting! So we went in and ordered a snickers gelato in an ice cream cone cup. The gelato is very well made. It tasted just like snickers. The fresh made cup was still warm. As we sat there and ate the gelato, I couldn't help staring at the desserts in the display case. Chocolate covered bacon, peanut butter cupcakes... Oh my! This place is pricey. They definitely have the advantage of being right by the pier and in the center.
(4)C. C.
OH MY GELATO. Fresh strawberry and chocolate sundae. They were cold and delicious, not to mention beautiful! The Snickers gelato was AMAZING. Peanutbuttery goodness.
(5)Diana S.
I really wanted to like this place, our server was really nice, but didn't think the food or drinks were noteworthy. The drinks were very very sweet, too sweet to finish! The clam chowder and lobster salad were bland. And the mac and cheese looked like it had been reheated in a microwave (oily instead of cheesy).
(3)Daniel J.
Gelato sandwich was made with two cookies and gelato. Gelato was typical and the cookies were obviously not fresh; although, not stale by any means. Service was okay. We got plenty of samples.
(2)Sarah S.
Really loved this place. Funky and really fun atmosphere. Staff is really friendly and super helpful. Laura really helped me narrow down what drink I wanted and I ended up mixing two gelato flavors and making a sweet and yummy milkshake.
(5)Gert P.
Perfect sweet after dinner or late afteernoon. Gelato so many choices. Love this place
(5)Randy C.
Great friendly service and fantastic chocolate Gelato! Anything they make that is chocolate must be made by some pretty spectacular chocolate!
(5)Chris S.
It's a treatery -- first time for that word. My friend and I ordered treats, delicious treats. I recommend their gelato. Me being me, I went straight for the coffee and pistachio and it was very satisfying. The have some fudge their too, but don't forget the gelato. I would love to visit this place again.
(5)Joe B.
Gelato is out of this world, that's all I had and I'm satisfied. 2 scoops = regular size, I had grapefruit and raspberry for around $5.50 served in a cup and spoon. Great to grab on the go and walk around the town with, or sit in the small patio outdoor seating and enjoy!
(4)Joy S.
I love this place and come here every summer when I visit cape cod! The hot chocolate is soooo good and is incredibly rich and creamy,
(5)Cheryl O.
Seriously the best Gelato around. I won't go anywhere else when I visit provincetown and I'm looking for dessert. Love it!!
(5)Julie W.
My boyfriend and I wanted a quick bite to eat after arriving late afternoon to Ptown. We lucked out and got the corner table which made it all that much better as the people watching was fantastic! We also thought the drinks were yummy and each got a panini that we loved. Im not sure if it would be anything to write home about if we sat inside, but outside on a beautiful day at the corner table was totally worth it.
(4)Vincent D.
Gelato. Amazing. Fudge. Amazing. Coffee. Amazing. Staff. Amazing. I love this place and will definitely go back the next time I'm in town. Get the Purple Feather Mocha with Dark Chocolate. Get the Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Fudge. Just get everything!! :)
(4)Abby R.
Best hot chocolate I've ever had! Got the milk chocolate, but I'm sure whichever type you are partial to would be amazing. (They have Milk, white and dark.) We will definitely be returning before our stay is through. Red velvet cupcake and peanut butter cake were incredible as well. Worth a stop on your next trip to P-town!
(5)Alex F.
I went into the Purple Feather with high hopes based on its cute exterior. The interior is confusing and laid out strangely. I wanted to try the hot chocolate martini and I wasn't sure if I should stay seated to order, go to the coffee counter, or the front counter. Eventually a waitress came to the table but she was definitely not happy to see me. She practically rolled her eyes when my friend took a few moments to decide what he wanted. The drinks themselves were not bad, but the environment was odd and not very welcoming. The desserts looked good, so maybe it would've been better to grab some gelato or a cupcake to go.
(2)Randy W.
Amazing desserts! When my husband and I visit Provincetown we always stop here at least once! They have many sweet and delicious Gelatos and some of the best lava cakes that I have ever had. there chocolates are too die for, as well! The also have some liquor, which while I've never had looks amazing! I highly recommend anyone going to Provincetown come here for a lava cake with a side of Gelato!
(5)Matt M.
The gelato and chocolates not withstanding, the Purple Feather is an excellent idea for an affordable lunch option. the Panini's are great served on wonderful bread. They just the right size for just the right price.
(5)Julia H.
The manager here is such a jerk. Not to us, but to his staff. We overheard him say to one of them "you're just going to stand here playing with your hair?" He watches them like a hawk and they all seem absolutely miserable to be in his presence. They all seem like lovely people that should find new jobs.
(1)Janet L.
Gelato and coffee are great but the rating is based on service because your dish will be served with a huge side of ahole attitude. When we walked in the short girl behind the counter grilled my 65 year old mom about using the bathroom before we ordered. I get it - you only let paying customers use it. But senior citizens? I then receive my over-priced latte and open up a small box of mini cupcakes I'd brought in from a shop down the road. The same girl tells me I can't eat it because I didn't buy it there. Are you serious? I just spent $35 on coffee and ice cream. And it's not even organic. I know it must be hard to serve tourists all day and make minimum wage but your job is based on my money. Take your money elsewhere.
(1)Andrew D.
I would give 5 stars based just the gelato, it was definitely the best dessert we enjoyed during our stay in town. We tried ice cream, froyo, and gelato from at least 4 different places on Commercial Street, and this was the only one we can back to a 2nd time, it was the best of the bunch. Sadly, the awesome gelato comes at a premium, as others have said. Of all the dessert places we tried, this was the most expensive. On top of that, they have a $7.50 minimum on credit card usage, which no one else in the area seems to have, so I have a hard time believing they need it.
(4)Julie R.
We stopped in this cute café for an espresso and could NOT resist the amazing desserts (be sure to go inside and see them all!). Our server was SUPER nice (I am sorry I didn't get her name). My friend had the espresso and I had an éclair. OMG - it was so fresh and delicious! Had I been in Provincetown longer, I would have definitely gone back. Everybody there was very friendly and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating; it was a nice day to sit outside and just relax at this cute café. (I reserve 5 stars for places that are strictly vegan or vegetarian.)
(4)Jenn C.
Even though this is more or less a dessert shop, I checked out the menu and they also had lunch and drinks. I had an Italian panini and a cocktail, which was pumpkin pie gelato blended with Capt. Morgan rum. Both were delicious! I also bought a couple of chocolates to bring back to our place. I would go back again.

This review is mostly for the ice cream (gelato actually) and to a smaller extent the chocolates; I haven't had much else. We (my wife and I) came in for ice cream on a cool April vacation afternoon. I was excited to bring her here because I remembered it was really good. It was my 3rd time and her 1st. Besides the dining tables and retail space there is a large counter area, roughly divided into ice cream part and candies/everything else in the other. We waited for a few minutes before a server was able to help us. She was pleasant and efficient as she gave us samples of our requests to help us make our decision. I decided on a Chocolate Sundae kiddie size. This is basically chocolate ice cream with everything that would go into a sundae mixed in: cherries, nuts, marshmallow, fudge, etc. She got a dessert that was basically espresso poured over her choice of ice cream - I forget what flavor; something mocha-y I think. Served with whipped cream on top, but she requested hers without. I'm a fan of small ice cream sizes and I appreciate their offering kiddie size - they're usually enough for me - but in this case it was too small and quite expensive. We were both disappointed. I thought the consistency was very off - a bit grainy feel, watery, and weak flavor. Actually my flavor complaint was mostly with the other flavors we tried as samples, before settling on the chocolate and her mocha-y flavor. I think they - and many other makers, including the commercial ones, try to get a way with too little flavorings when they are expensive, but chocolate and coffee may be cheap enough that they aren't tempted to do that with those flavors. That's my theory anyway. But the other complaints - graniness and wateryness apply to all that we tried, including what we finally settled on. More like an ice milk - the exact opposite of what I'd expect in a gelato. I wonder if part of the problem is their freezer; is it too warm? Does the temperature cycle up and down too much? Several of the flavors that I saw looked wrong; like they had been slightly melted and then refrozen. If true, that may explain the graininess, but that's not an excuse; just a possible explanation. But the weak flavor and the wateriness: that's a problem with skimping on quality ingredients I think. The first time I tried the ice cream, 2 years ago, it was 5 stars. I couldn't wait to come back. The second time was a year later and I thought... 5 stars? No it is really more like 4 stars. Now here I am another year later and getting around to writing the review... I was going to give it 3 stars. But then, I thought: very small sizes, very high prices, they lose another point: 2 stars. Quite a drop from my first impressions of 2 years ago. Last year I also tried the chocolate truffles. The chocolate-habanero truffles were quite good: satisfyingly brittle shell, good chocolate flavor, and just the right amount of heat (in the extra-hot version; the heat in the regular was basically undetectable to me - but I love hot foods). Ok, I'll go on faith that these haven't changed since last time and give them back a point; 3 stars. They also have amusing novelty items like candy penises for those seeking such things. Try finding those in Baskin-Robbins!. I did not sample these.
(3)Hari A.
Amazing amazing desserts. Everything here is delicious! Ask for tastes of their frosting and fillings!!!! They also make delicious Panini's! Try the jerk chicken but ask for extra jerk seasoning if you like it spicy. The staff is so friendly and welcoming this is for sure not a place I will pass by if I come to Ptown again. Note: they do have some adult shaped chocolates and sexy named items so not sure if you want to take your kids there.
(5)Diane L.
We stopped there off season to get gelato. The gelato was yummy. It was our first visit to Ptown and this place. The owner/manager was very rude. I said I had a restaurant.com deal he asked when I bought it and I told him April 1, 2015 and he was irrated that I had it and was using because I got 50% of our order. If I ever go back to Ptown want be coming here.
(3)Cheryl W.
Good coffee and tea but not impressed with hand dipped candy and it was NOT worth the calories.
(1)Theresa M.
Omg!!! Decided to pop in for a quick caffeinated pick-me-up and what I got was much more than that!!! First off, it's adorable and everything looks amazing. I ordered a cappuccino with Sambuca!!! Holy god. It was amazing. The foam was perfect!!! My fiancé got an iced coffee and a cordial of a chocolate liquor on the side. Yummy. For a treat we had the coconut crabby patty. Delicious. The place was clean and the staff was super nice. It was a great pit stop. And in this case, I'm glad it's not too close to me...that would not be good for my diet. Lol. However, I will absolutely return!!! :-)
(5)Josselyn B.
I am sorry to say this stop in P-town was very disappointing. The flour-less chocolate torte was almost waxy, the gelato too sweet and bland, and the service was just short of rude. I wanted to love it, but I will go elsewhere next time.
(2)Nick C.
My SO and I went here for a late lunch last weekend. We were seated by an extremely nice waitress who was happy to help us. We both got panninis. I ordered the Jamaican Jerked Chicken panini, made by a real Jamaican and it was delicious. the sandwich came with a small bag of Cape Cod chips so you cant go wrong there. After we ate our panini we headed over to the gelato window. It was great they had many different flavors and allowed us to try as many as we wanted before making a decision. They give you these small purple spoons that are really pretty fun. My SO and I both ordered kiddie sized gellatos. I got Snickers and she got Oreo. They were both delicious and we thought the kiddie size was big enough after the lunch we just ate. The workers at the cafe were all extremely nice and helpful. Everything we ate was delicious and it was a nice environment for lunch.
(5)Samantha R.
Yum yum the gelato and the sweet confections. Plus they are friendly. And there is a clean bathroom. No complaints!
(5)Bryan D.
This place has a whacky layout. I wanted to get a drink here, but I had no clue where to go to be sat for that. So we got a couple desserts at the counter (they were very busy and rushed through orders, so I didn't want to ask where to go for drinks). The desserts were VERY good.
(3)Pa G.
Excellent gelato & desserts...and they're open late! I love that they added the outdoor seating this year...nice spot to sit and people watch.
(4)Cindy C.
Delicious treats and gelato! We have never had actual "food" here, but have visited frequently for a tasty treat and are never disappointed with the large selection of fresh and delicious choices. I see a few other reviewers have complained that the owner is a jerk--have never experienced this. Workers there always appear to be happy and cordial to the customers.
(4)Jessica H.
Yummy! This place has great home made sorbet and gelato. I came here for the sorbet. There is even a sign on the wall that says ALL their sorbets are VEGAN (dairy and egg free). YAY! I actually asked the staff about their sorbets being vegan before seeing that sign, but they also said yes. I got two flavors of sorbet in a cup (rasberry (amazing) with banana also amazing) and my boyfriend's son also got raspberry sorbet in a cup. I think this may have been his first time eating sorbet and certainly not his last since he enjoyed it so much. They also have coffee, I think sandwiches?, baked goods, and chocolate. I don't know the vegan options for those though. I did see some packaged dark chocolate available that was vegan. You can sample any of the sorbets/gelatos. There is a bathroom there but you need to be a customer - there is a lock and they give you the key. The people working there are very nice. If I am in Ptown again I will certainly come back!
(5)Lisa C.
I can only comment on the fudge and chocolates that were sent to me as a gift. They are delicious! The gift arrived very attractively packaged with purple paper and ribbon. I was given the dulce de leche fudge and the chocolate angels. The fudge is excellent, nice and creamy, not grainy like fudge can get. The angels are solid chocolate with a bit of purple "paint" on their wings. I would be happy to try their other confections from the online store, based on these two items. Excuse me, now I have to go have some more fudge.
(4)Leo F.
We came here for sorbetto last weekend. Walking in Provincetown during the hot day was exhausting and this place was right there. After waiting in line for awhile as there was a crowd, we managed to place our order for a lime and strawberry sorbetto. Both flavors were good but I think we liked the strawberry a bit more.
(4)John J.
Their sandwiches are absolutely amazing. They are full of a range of flavors and their desserts are amazing. If you're looking for good gelato this the place to go. I've tried all of the gelato place is in town and this one by far is the best.
(5)K C.
I had a milk chocolate paw, simple delectable taste. Very nice smooth chocolate and I loved it. If I ever go back to P-town again, I will surely go here and have more than just a paw.
(5)B L.
There are a gazillion places on Commercial within a couple of blocks of this one that also have ice cream, cookies, fudge, chocolate, etc., but this one seemed greatly superior to the rest. I wish I could have tried more and hope to go back and complete my sampling of everything they sell! We bought several kinds of fudge and split a gelato with salted caramel and peanut butter cup. Absolutely wonderful! If we had bought everything that we wanted, we wouldn't have been able to carry the bag -- so many delightful looking chocolates, cakes, etc. Very much looking forward to a return visit (or two or three!).
(5)Dillar S.
Great little spot for people watching, good coffee, and a treat. The shop has a huge selection of candy, chocolate, ice cream, and gelato. Reasonable prices, quick service, and did I say good coffee!
(3)Marleena C.
Glory in the HIGHEST! I come here every year because this is hands down the best gelato anywhere! Amazing selection of flavors. The chocolate peanut butter flavor has CHUNKS of peanut butter in it, and I mean CHUNKS! Salted caramel, s'mores, expresso with real expresso beans, worms in dirt and the list goes on and on. To top that off they bake awesome cupcakes and other decadence as well as make their own candy...like amazing pretzel rods covered in chocolate and rolled in mini m&m's..SAY WHAT?!!?? GLORY.
(4)Nicole S.
Enjoyed a nice lunch there on a Saturday afternoon. We were pleased to get a table for the four of us on their little deck out front, under an umbrella. Our server was polite & efficient. The panninis were excellent & my ten year old loved her watermelon flavored Italian soda. The sole drawback was at the end of our meal. As my husband was finishing his 2nd iced coffee, the staff began to loom uncomfortably close in that small space... By now we were the only party on the patio and no one was waiting for our table, so what's the rush? We were asked if we were "all set" by 2 waitresses & the owner. My husband decided to abandon his unfinished drink and we moved-on.
(4)Lindsay B.
We stayed right near this adorable place on our recent honeymoon in Provincetown. My regret is not having wandered in the first day we arrived so we had the chance to try more things! The gelato was FABULOUS! I am partial to fruity flavors, and the raspberry gelato was the best I've ever had. By far. The case of chocolate confections was mind blowing! The truffles were amazing. The chocolate turtles were huge! And whatever that pastry was that we bought with the fluffy donut type shell and Boston cream in the middle was ridiculous. I don't know what that was. All I know is I'd gladly trade a few hours on the treadmill for another one. The staff at The Purple Feather was friendly, helpful, and very generous with the free samples. We loved this place!
(5)Robert S.
Great cafe....sorberts, ice cream, panini, etc. All is good here. You can pick from over 15 flavors of ice cream, most of them, just too good to pass. The cafe food is also very good. You can sit outside and watch people go by...or...inside for those who want to pass incognito in Provincetown. LOL.
(4)HM M.
Best Gelato in town. I had the Tiramisu Gelato and it even came with a ladyfinger. It wasn't too sweet, it was perfect. They have a few cases of decadent desserts and they all look delicious. The coffee tasted old and I didn't even drink half of my large. Great seating and polite staff. I will be back again... and again.
(4)Malaika W.
Good ice cream and hot chocalate on a cold night FYI that have chocolate bacon for those who are brave.
(4)Jake S.
We LOVE this place everything is really good food and the drinks!!! Everyone is so nice and the owners are the Best!!! We go there every day when we are in town it feels like home. !!!
(5)Jeff O.
We go to P-town all the time, and the Purple Feather is always a wonderful stop. I have to love this place: authentic Italian gelato, carefully-curated chocolates, solid sandwiches, high-quality tea and coffee -- who could ask for anything more?! Oh wait, a stiff drink -- but they just started to serve those now (wine, beer, and cocktails). I lived in Italy for a year and PF is one of 2 establishments on this side of the Atlantic at which I will deign to dig in to the gelato. The gelato is rich and excellent -- none of the diluted, flavorless stuff that plagues most U.S. imitations. The flavor variety can be daunting, but my favorites are: - pistachio (made from real pistachios!), - dark chocolate (a rich, deep flavor), - salted caramel (the name speaks for itself), and - coconut (my favorite food). The sorbetto is also delicious. The chocolates are a treat for the eyes and the palate. I love the truffles, which are made with great care and make great gifts. My mother loves the "sex on the beach" truffle. My favorite item for myself is the salted caramels, which are an amazing sweet and salty bite of chocolate-coated goodness. (My mouth is watering from just writing that!) If you're in a sit-down mood, they have table service now. We stopped in for a lobster panino and a panna cotta-filled eclair (okay, fine, and a gelato too) on our last visit, and left with big smiles on our faces. Also: don't sleep on the coffee. They do it right here.
(5)B M.
Stopped in because we were hungry and overwhelmed by all the options available. We should have kept walking. I had the special, a lobster panini. It came with lettuce and tomato, which, lettuce on a panini is not a great addition. I expected a lot more lobster for the price, it was mostly claw meat, and had an odd taste like some imitation seafood was mixed in. My other got a pastrami and asked for it on wheat. It came on rye, and the bag of chips that came with was stale. Not sure how you can get stale Cape Cod chips ON Cape Cod. We did not have dessert, as we had already spent a lot on food that was sub par, but they looked ok. Staff was friendly
(2)Gene T.
Latte was very good but the owner is a jerk. Seven of us stopped in for coffee and the owner had a smart ass comment for every request. ALL of us will NEVER go there again. No matter how good the product is, there are too many other places is Ptown to get a good up of coffee. If you want abuse and to be insulted - go for it!
(1)Peter D.
Went back recently after not going here for two years. Friends wanted coffee and some sweats. The owner, as usual, was a complete jerk and treated all of us, as well as his staff, completely rudely. Avoid this place and teach the owner a lesson that customer service is the most important reason people ether do come back or stay away
(1)Lily A.
Just wow. Amazing place to get some lunch and/or delicious bakery treats or gelatto. The mocha shake is absolutey incredible. Wanted to try everything in there - def my first stop next time I'm in town!
(5)Adaire S.
How could two Lesbians on a Honeymoon NOT be enticed by such a name as "The Purple Feather Cafe and Treatery" ? The gentleman who stood outside held a menu, was polite, friendly, and not at all pushy. We were so overwhelmed with everything that wasn't open, wasn't working, "OVER IT" for the season (Late September), and lots of attitude adjustments on our part to adapt. The Purple Feather was our first positive experience since getting off the Ferry. We were warmly welcomed inside, and started off our meal "just right" while I savored a very well made and spicy Chai Latte, while my wife started to glaze over the Gelato counter and "Treateries". I ordered the Panini with Spicy Italian meats and Provolone cheese which was absolutely incredible! I didn't want to share it, but I was still on good behavior. My wife got the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which may have been mistaken for the regular Mac and Cheese because I'm not sure we detected any Lobster. Either way, the meal was delicious. The young lady who served us was quite sweet and we felt very positive about our experience. PS. The wife saved room for her Gelato and after trying quite a few flavors, settled on Strawberry, which she enjoyed immensely.
(4)Jeremy K.
Located centrally, on the always busy Commercial Street, the Purple Feather is a fairly small shop which sells some luscious gelato, chocolates, fudges, and various other edibles. They also have sandwiches, salads, mac and cheese, and even some adult candy available for those non-prudes out there who want some more adventurous chocolates. We went there to satisfy our sweet tooth on a hot day and were told to go there for some good gelato. They have all kinds of flavors available and I settled for a fairly classic Nocciola flavor, which is hazelnut. Although a tad pricey, it wasn't too sweet, creamy, rich and smooth. It pretty much hit the spot and left me walking around, enjoying it very much. It was money well spent and I'd go back there in the future when in need for another frozen fix. Just keep in mind that it''s going to be more than your regular JP Licks or Ben & Jerry's fix since it's an independent store and they specialize a bit more than those chains. It's not out of range, but definitely not as cheap as one could and would expect.
(4)Bob P.
2012: Good for chocolate truffles, gelato, and other desserts. Good light to medium lunches. Sent a friend one of the anatomical chocolates to cheer him up in the hospital--it worked. PF mailed it for me too. 2013: They have table service now. Loved the ginger martini.
(5)Elizabeth K.
I love any place that asks me a half-dozen questions about a hot chocolate (size? milk type? chocolate type?!? whipped? here/to-go? want some chocolate samples?) This place takes it's chocolate seriously. It's super expensive, but, it's also super delicious!
(4)Ann P.
What a great Gelatto spot. The ladies behind the counter let us try a few samples. I settled on salted carmel and vanilla..wowwwww
(4)Catherine L.
I had lobster mac and cheese which was dry & a caramel latte which was a disappointment for the price! However, my husband had a jerk chicken panini which he said was seasoned beautifully, and gelato which was as good as we had in Italy. All of the staff was efficient and welcoming, but I thought this place was a little expensive. The display of treats is very enticing, many beautiful candies and confections. Nice patio for eating outside.
(3)Sharon B.
Mediocre gelato for a very expensive price...I got the Turtle gelato, kiddie size (approx. 3-4 oz) for $3.99 + tax. I wouldn't be so harsh if the customer service was better; similar to other 2 star reviews for this place, the people working the counter were almost rude and at best were unfriendly. My husband got a latte, which was decent. If they were a little nicer, this place could be close to 4 stars.
(2)Cindi W.
This place has LOOSE tea for your daily cuppa. Very good. They have decadent pastries too and fudge and a sandwich place. Great for the midday stomach pains! Nice staff too. Loved them. Only problem they open at 11 am. UGH! Wished they opened at 8am.
(4)Dawn E.
This may have been the best stop during my entire trip to P-town. I have to tell you, the gelato is pricey. I paid $6 for a medium which wasn't so medium. But it was just enough and freaking amazing. I PROMISE I will be back.
(4)Melissa D.
Came here 2 days in a row because the sandwiches were awesome and the homemade gelato is some of the best I've had (taking into account I sampled gelato everywhere in Italy last summer). Unfortunately, on BOTH occasions I found their staff to be rude. The first time I thought it was a fluke. The second time, not so much.
(3)Boston B.
Pistachio gelato was wonderful. The staff's mood was foul.

Wow! We were looking for a quick lunch and this was an awesome find. We had the home made clam chowder which was hot, creamy and loaded with potatoes and thyme. Delicious! The paninis were hot and fresh, delicious! We didn't have the opportunity to try any of the yummy looking deserts, we intended to come back the following day, but they were closed when we were leaving.

Great spot to warm up with cappuccino and sweets on a cold winter day. (And loved the 2 for 1 dessert deal!) I am still dreaming of the homemade smore I ate. And the sandwich we ate was delicious too. All around - a great spot on the main drag of Provincetown.

Forget the fine chocolates and sexy sweets, the gelato here is everything the Italians intended it to be: creamy, calorie-filled and not too sweet. With around 16 flavors, chocolate, hazelnut and even simple vanilla lovers will find themselves equally satisfied. For diabetics, there are sugar-free selections. On two separate occasions on the same day (don't judge) I enjoyed a cup of peanut butter chip and cookies and cream. Both flavors were absolutely perfect, the texture silky smooth and the price tag: WHOA! There is no bargain here, kids. You're paying a premium, but for a delicious treat in the hot sun, it's totally worth it! They accept credit cards and have a seating area. And if you opt to ignore my previous suggestion above of forgetting the chocolates, that's actually a pretty wise decision. Their confections case houses giant s'mores sandwiches covered in chocolate and peanut butter bowls, the oversized cousin of the peanut butter cup. My restraint in ordering a pound of these was in full force. Obviously, because I used absolutely no restraint in eating two cups of gelato!

Pleasant staff and front room host, self seating after ordering and paying for a supposedly "made from scratch" peach tart.... Sadly, peaches were obviously canned and tart did not taste homemade.

Outrageous prices...even for ptown. But damn, everything is so tasty. Even if the prices just decreased the tiniest bit, I'd be there all the time.

Despite its obvious goal of catering to P-Town tourists, The Purple Feather is rad. The staff are soo so nice, the atmosphere almost painfully cute (purple *everything*) and the offerings delicious. Plus, they have a patio, something I always appreciate. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich, even if they forgot to include cheese in it (you have the option of adding it for an extra dollar), and my hazelnut gelato, which was rich, creamy and filled with whole hazelnuts. Crazy delicious.

I love these guys. The gelato is the best in all of Provincetown. Sandwiches are okay, but I'd probably go elsewhere for lunch. They also have tons of different pastries which are borderline amazing.

I don't like gelato and PF's gelato hasn't changed my mind or tastebuds on the matter. My kids and their friends dig this place. The prices are way high for everything. Their chocolates aren't too good--I tried one this week and I really should have tossed it into the garbage. Overpriced, too. I have had a decent chocolate here in the past, but this one didn't pass muster. I haven't tried the newly expanded kitchen offerings. Hubby bought a coffee drink and SPOILER ALERT it was 7 goddamn dollars and 50 effin' cents. HOLY COW! Truly outrageous. I am a frozen coffee concoction snob and it was not only over-the-top expensive, but it was really, really bad. It was full of coffee grounds. Hubby liked it though, but I doubt he'll ever put himself and his wallet through that again. I give the 3 stars because my family likes this place and I like going in if it's not too hot outside (because when it's hot outside, it's even hotter in here). I do enjoy the interior, the drippy golden lights, and the chocolate penises, sort of.

Great gelato, variety assortment of chocolates as well, a little pricey

I got a two scoop gelato cup with mojito and strawberry. The mojito flavor was delicious! The actual service leaves something to be desired with less than enthusiastic employees who would rather not be serving you at all. You definitely got the impression that you were burdening them by requesting a sample of gelato and then getting ignored while they prefer to help someone else behind you. Expensive at $5 for a small cup (about 8oz) of gelato and they only accept credit card for transactions over $7.50. Plus, they charge 70 cents extra for a flavor shot in your coffee. So all of a sudden your small iced coffee is costing you $4?!

Double shot of espresso in a mocha gelato shake is worth coming back for.

YUM!! Dorian and I came in here while on a day trip adventure with the dog to Provincetown. It was a million degrees and we needed some ice cream in between day drinking and beaching. Sometimes you just need to stop for a gelato break. I waited outside politely until I was told I could bring Ruby in with is (yay for being dog friendly!) and Dorian ordered me a hazelnut and chocolate cone, which she got in a waffle cone dipped in chocolate. It was allegedly a medium, but it was HUGE. We sat in the luxurious air conditioning and ate our cones. They were both amazing-she got a coconut almond chocolate gelato, and mine was pure heaven. It really was. The chocolate gelato was so smooth and creamy, and the chunks of candy were chocolate hazelnut chocolate. It was amazing. The rest of the pastries and candies in the cases past the gelato looked amazing as well-the cupcakes were huge and layered. They also serve breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I know this will be our regular stop whenever we end up in Provincetown-this place RULES.
(5)Tom G.
The gelato is great, but don't miss out on the paninis. We were in PTown for a week and I had "The Cub" (grilled panini filled with roast beef, roasted red peppers, cheese, and guacamole) for lunch 3 times!
(5)Heather S.
Delicious-looking ice creams and sorbets, a good mix of coffee drinks, truly awesome Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (which were delicious!!!), and so-so chocolates (not rich enough chocolate) make the Purple Feather a cool place for after-dinner drinks and desserts. Even if there's a line, it moves quickly, and they have (albeit sticky) tables and chairs after you order and pick up your treat.
(4)Roni E.
Reasons to visit Purple Feather: 1. Air Conditioning!!!! 2. Gelato!!!! 3. Chairs and tables to sit down and relax. They also had a bunch of delectable looking treats in their glass display while looking from afar at a nearby table, but alas I had a gelato and was already full of sweet goodness I couldn't give in to temptation. But something to keep in mind for the next time!
(4)Sara J.
Stopped in this place yesterday for tea and cookies. It had snowed a little that morning, so sitting by the fire in here was perfect!
(4)Kelly G.
Sweetie and I were sucked in by the "best hot chocolate you've ever had" sign on the door. Probably more me than her, but that's beside the point. I got dark and she got milk. I really liked mine-- although I've had better-- see (LA Burdick in Cambridge). She put hers in the first can we walked by.... They had some pretty sweet looking treats in the cases and things like chocolate body paint, candy sexy bits (male and female), and white chocolate popcorn. They also had lunch-time macaroni and paninnis. They had a bunch of seating and squishy leather glider chairs in front of the fireplace. I'd like to go back and sample more of their offering.

Hubby and I go to Provincetown every fall. And we never miss a visit to the Purple Feather. Need a daytime treat to beat the heat..... try the gelato! Chilly evening, Hot Chocolate to die for!!!!!!! OMG!!!! Truly thought I died and went to heaven. And the owners are unbelievably nice. Hubby inquired about the Creamsickle fudge, which he had purchased previously. The owner overheard and told him to come back in tomorrow and they would make some just for him. Took our phone number and called us when they arrived in town. I have also ordered from them for Valentine's Day for Hubby (He is a fudge nut! and they have some of the best ever. I'm a fan of the Cookies and Cream.) The fudge arrived beautifully packaged and promptly. Can't say enough good things about them. Can't wait for September!
(5)Craig W.
Very good coffee. Salted caramel was nice, too.
(4)Adrian S.
We had a delicious dark hot chocolate on a cold rainy day. It wasn't too sweet and was at the perfect temperature. This will be my new hot chocolate place in Provincetown.
(5)Marc C.
I love the smells in this place. You know the kind of smells I am talking about. The almost Willy Wonka magical smells that you can taste, and not just smell. Everywhere you move to, you get another magical combination changing like a taste/smell kaleidoscope. I was in La La Land, like there was some magical Pied Piper pulling me through. I settled on a pastry that had hazelnuts and chocolate mousse, it was called a 'moon mound' a small pastry with little crushed hazelnut coating the out side. I was in Candy Land. I ordered my new little discovery, this thing of beauty, and asked the goddess with the keys to this magical treasure if I could have it packaged to go... ::screeching braking car tire sound:: Then the little evil girl crammed and smooshed it into a styrofoam box and tossed it to the treasurer behind the cash register. Tried to ignore the fact i now was buying a squished pastry and made small talk and noticed that they have a finger print scanner...? Huh?!?! I was then informed the minions have to scan their fingerprints to clock in and out because the owner doesn't trust anyone and is greedy. She then told me my pastry was about $9 and I believed this poor little immigrant girl. I paid, I walk out, I was in shell and sticker shock. The magic was lost. So to make myself feel better I snagged some extra Splenda packets since the diabetic at the vacation house with us ran out... Pastry was ok, but not worth it. ::end scene::
(3)Melissa W.
The gelato is To Die For! Especially the super dark chocolate! Single estate chocolate bars and a case of chocolate covered things that beyond entices you on the way to the register. In addition, there is a marvelous tea/coffee bar and you can get chai latte's that don't have sugar built in. Creatively built but down to earth sandwiches. Definitely a MUST! if you're in Provincetown.
(5)Terry C.
If gelato from Purple Feather could be compared to a violin concerto, it would be the Four Seasons by Vivaldi with Itzhak Perlman playing a Stradivarius! It's refined, delightful, exciting, soothing, haunting, and complex! I absolutely loved the Chocolate Marshmallow Sundae flavored gelato! I even splurged and had mine served in a waffle cone bowl! Excellent choice on my part, and I highly recommend it being served this way. Another interesting choice for your gelato would be to have it served affogatto - drowning in Italian - which serves a gelato of your choice floating atop a rich and lively coffee or espresso. Brilliant idea! The gelato bar is laid out before you as you walk into this shop, and beacons to you with over 25 delicious varieties to choose from. If you can't decide, no worries, the sampling is endless! The chocolates were divine, the fudge looked amazing, and the confections looked great! Being from Philadelphia - I found it all to be very affordable!
(5)Heather S.
The service was friendly, go ahead and taste all their flavors of gelato. Their gelato was as good as any I've had. Portions are huge, you don't need to get the cone.
(4)Chris C.
I knew they had sinful sweets, but this was the first time I'd had a meal there. Their sandwiches and mac & cheese were really very good! Like their sweets, the food was comparatively expensive, but ... you get what you pay for.
(4)Beth E.
Drunkenly rushing to catch the last ferry out, we decided that we needed a sweet treat. We headed to the Purple Feather for some gelato. I wasn't sure which flavor to pick, and then I learned that you can get 2 or even 3. I picked two: chocolate chip and chocolate peanut butter cup. Expensive, but both were really yummy. I definitely need to stop in again when I have my wits about me and am not in such a hurry so I can take a better look at everything they have to offer.
(4)Annie W.
yes, they have gelato. no, it's not interesting. no lingering taste but sugar on even the chocolate flavors. seriously?
(2)Jen H.
I must say, I was a bit skeptical as we walked past ice cream store after ice cream store... and was told we were headed to "The Purple Feather." I kept thinking someone was taking me to a sex shop, and the whole premise of getting gelato was just a diversion. I was wrong, and not only that, but Purple Feather was well worth the walk. Good selection of gelato, and the quality of it was good to! Price was about average for these speciality ice cream type places... but not cheap by any means.

For a "Dessert Cafe," they have a rather limited selection of desserts. I was in the mood for a cup of gelato after lunch, but after trying a few of their flavors, I decided to change my mind for a cup of water. All their flavors are SUPER rich and way too sweet; it'll make you sick if you eat more than a few bites. I decided to see what cakes they had, but names like "butter pile" did not quite appeal to me. Maybe I'm picky; perhaps there are actually others in P-town that like to eat piles of butter. I ended up just getting the smallest size of the mint gelato - what I thought was a neutral flavor - but turned out to make me sick and give me a headache. I stopped eating it after a few bites. My husband got an iced coffee, which, at last, was decent. And on my way to the bathroom (due to the mint gelato), I passed by a drape that had "adult chocolates" behind it. That's right - they make chocolates in the shapes of penises and busty boobs! Quite novel, I must say, but...grossly unappetizing! As a woman, I must say that there's nothing "sexy" about eating chocolate in the shape of a penis. If they insist on selling these products, they should at least be truthful about their name and call themselves "Fine Chocolate and Sweets for Disturbing Perverts!"

Great service, great ice cream and the best cookie and ice cream sandwich that you will have in your life... die happy after eating it! That's my quick review of this super fab place! Why the lost of one star? Super-duper high prices for ice cream... but in some weird way, worth it.
(4)Kerri O.
Kinda spensive. But, I totally dug my tiramisu gelato. I made many yummy noises while eating it. So many, I was soon pointing out the shop to other strollers on Commercial Street. I was a one woman advertising campaign.
(4)Erika R.
Great Gelato! Pricey as everyone else mentioned but quite good! Perfect fix for a hot night in P-Town.
(4)Jen S.
I'll agree with the two stars prevailing here. Neither the chocolate nor the gelato is even close to good enough for what they're charging. They were sold out of water when I went there-- it was 90 degrees F and over 80% humidity and the girl offered me juice. Um, sugary juice? No thank you. How could you run out of water? Seemed like a day of typical tourist traffic to me. Weird. Oh yeah, and where the hell does the "sexy" come in? Are the counter kids with foreign accents supposed to be sexy? That's my best guess but no dice, if that's the case.
(2)James B.
The latte was mediocre, the chais were good if not a little bit sweet. The "treats" were pretty delicious. Why two stars you ask? The cashier. I'd say this is pretty consistent with the other reviews as well. I tried to be really friendly but felt as if I was a burden to them due to the atttitude and looks that I got. That's terrible customer service. I clearly ordered two chais, I received two iced chais. When I asked for hot chais they looked at me like I was an idiot, even though I clarified what I wanted when I ordered. This place has 4 or 5 star potential, but not with service like that. Props to the girl that made the drinks though, she seemed cool. The cashier though? Completely abrasive and unfriendly.

Purple Feather was previously just candy but they have expanded to a second store down the street that serves gelato and coffee as well. The original, candy only, store is still there. The gelato was ok, but the flavors were off. The vanilla tasted vaguely of lemon and not of vanilla. The chocolate had some "twist" to it that one suspected was deliberate but had the effect of an off-note. The vanilla was far enough off vanilla that we thought we had been served the wrong ice cream, but we weren't.
(2)Scott W.
I can only speak to the gelato treat side - it was good and the staff were helpful and fast. But really, it's hard to go wrong on something so delicious :)
(3)Tony S.
Decent little place for sandwiches, nice choice of breads and cheeses. The dessert options are redonkulous! The Bounty gelato was the best gelato and ice cream that I have EVER had in my life. I would make the 3-4 hour trip from Boston just for another cup of this heaven! The chocolates, while pricey, are worth every penny. I had the equivalent of a coconut cluster which was the best I've ever tasted. Well worth seeking out this gem if you are in P-town.
(4)Matt R.
Overpriced. I came in for a gelato and I struggled to find a flavor I was really even that interested in. I finally settled on one and wasn't too pleased with the amount of gelato I got for the spendy price, but then again it wasn't really that great anyway. I'd say you're better off at most of the other ice cream and gelato places in town, even Ben and Jerry's might be a better bet.

You people are completely out of your minds. Have you even been to this place??? I have always had incredible experiences here. The prices are going to be super high-- that's provincetown-- the prices are actually lower than most other places in town. Anyway, I loove the gelato, which is incredible, I particularly love the bonbon gelato with raspberry sorbeto-- yum! I have no idea about "off gelato" everything I tasted was incredible! The chocolates are also really really good. The place was originally a chocolate shop (and the original business is still open down the street selling the same chocolate and scandalizing adult chocolates - thus the sexy part). I recommend the pretzel rods and the champagne truffles. All the sweets are made on premises and you can watch them work through all the windows, which is pretty cool. The coffee is really good (what other place cares about how fast the espresso pours and adjusts it for maximum flavor??), though I tend to drink the tea, which is of high quality, loose leaf, and served with a cool bamboo squewer-thing to hold it together. Also, all the cups are made from corn and are completely compostable !! I recommend the chai tea and the hot mochas-- they use real chocolate from the on premises kitchen. I adore this place and have spent a ton of time here. It is beautiful on the inside and even has fountains on the walls. Wireless internet is also a huge plus. And for those that aren't only in town for the summer, they say they will be open year round.
(5)Whitney W.
That's four stars for free Wi-Fi and a table to sit at. The Wired Puppy has my heart, but Purple Feather is pretty damn great. Also, even though the gelato might appear expensive to the uninitiated, it is, in fact, affordable by Provincetown standards. And it's pretty delicious, as are the chocolates. There's no better place to have a tea for less than three dollars and frantically search Craigslist for some summer housing before you have a nervous breakdown.
(4)Ana K.
I went in here one evening for gelato, and was inticed by the huge pieces of candy in the gelato. I ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor intending I'd get some of the big pieces of peanut cups sitting in it, but I didn't. There were no peanut cups at all in what I recieved, and I was very disappointed. When the servers scoop the gelato it looks like they're puposely not putting any of the candy pieces in the cup. My friend ordered a flavor because of the big rollos in it, and she too was jipped of the candy. Whoever runs this place needs to change how they serve, and actually give people pieces of the candy in the gelato. A small is $4, which is ridiculous since gelato is made from milk, not cream, so it should cost less. This place claims to be a dessert cafe but they don't have as many desserts as a cafe for this type of business should.
(2)Bill B.
new place this year on commercial street. rather overpriced - has good gelato, ok cheesecake, average chocolate sweets, and below average coffee. unfriendly manager/owner is supercilious, overbearing, and has no customer service skills - but the workers are great. the good is that there are tables, wireless, long hours, and a possible free paper (but not the Times) - if there were at least two free NY Times lying around for the patrons, they would have received another star.
