This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in the area. I have never had anything there that I didn't love. I'm a vegetarian and when the menu doesn't have many options for me, they will ask me what I want and they make it. I go there very frequently as it is close to where I live. The staff is amazing and welcoming. They make you feel comfortable and are extremely accommodating. I always recommend Rye Tavern to people. Oh, and ALWAYS get the roasted brussels sprouts. They are amazing.

Went to the Rye Tavern for our wedding anniversary after it came overwhelmingly recommended by friends, and this place did not disappoint. The ambiance starts the second you turn onto Old Sandwich Road, where you drive down a dirt road to what feels like the middle of nowhere for a bit and the you pop out at this charming well kept gem. Sitting inside with the exposed beams and period decor gives you a feeling of Concord in 1900, which is very cool. Menu was small but clearly expert crafted. Creative spirit offerings, all season appropriate, local beer offerings. Never have I had better clam chowder IN MY LIFE. That alone was worth the trip. Our main courses were immaculate, we were too full to have dessert. And our waitress was a pleasure! Can't wait to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the outside bar when it's open!

So sad. We went for a cocktail this summer and it was great. Went for brunch today and the food was just ok. We waited 40 minutes for our orders. When we asked for jelly or jam for our DRY toast the answer was they have none. Omelette was very brown and over done. My hash had lots of fat squares in it. Great atmosphere.

Okay, here's the skinny. Two hostesses do not make for good service. A hostess has a specific purpose. These young women failed miserably. 6:45 PM arrival... Ummm well we have a lot of reservations tonight. Can we put you at the bar high top? No, thank you. Well (keep in mind 79% of the tables are EMPTY) can you be finished before 8? Well yeah, sure (I did drive a mile into the woods so). So it's 758 and Ummm restaurant still 50% empty. This marred my experience. Plus the mussel special sucked; orange flavored mussels. .. no thank you. Everything else was deelish. So you decide. Let me add that our quirky, sweet and perfect server was the highlight.

This was a fantastic rustic tavern that is true to its New England roots. Built in the late 1800s, this restaurant is not only cozy and genuine, but also has an extremely creative farm-to-table concept that they execute eloquently. My husband and I braved the dirt road and we're well rewarded with an appetizer of Plymouth oysters as well as two orders of blue cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon -expertly crisped- drizzled in a balsamic reduction that was neither too sweet nor too tangy. You read that right- they were so good we purchased a second order. This was followed by my husband's Arugula salad with a homemade peppercorn dressing, pickled grapes, a delightful brown sugar and cinnamon croutons. The only way I can describe all of the combining flavored is that it tasted of Christmas. I had the Endive salad with sliced pears and a light vinaigrette. Our entrees were the coup-de-grace of the meal. My duck on purple rice with a light sauce of cranberry and blueberry was the best duck I've ever had. My husband had the hake, which he loved. Unfortunately, despite an abundance of creativity on the desserts, they were overly deconstructed to the point of being trite. Don't try so hard in the presentation and instead the chefs should go back to basics and focus on making the flavors the central focus.

Had to run over Red Riding Hood to find Rye, and in the end, it was totally worth it. Besides, Grandma didn't need those rolls anyway. Protein cures the ancient and ailing. Amidst a golf course and old money sits a cabin - chimney smoking, patio umbrellas up and a hidden garden flourishing behind. On the inside, a very small bar, maybe a dozen to fifteen tables and a kitchen in, well, a kitchen. House converted, and I ain't talking about the TV doctor. The menu is a thing of beauty, and we had to start with the much-laureled brussels sprouts ($5). Absolute win. Roasted, then pan-crisped, seasoned heavily without overpowering and sprinkled with pepitas, the sweetness of local honey and a citrus acidity. I was instantly enamored and tied them with parsnips as my all-time favorite roasted veg. The rest of the meal sang, but as a chorus. Their excellent basket of complimentary breads, further complemented (ha! homonyms!) by a phenomenal chipotle brown sugar butter started things off on a high note. My foraged mushroom soup ($6) had all that earthy mealiness you'd expected from fungi in a bowl, and its simplicity allowed the fresh spores to soar, while my spinach salad ($9) came off a bit too simple. The berry vinaigrette didn't do it for me, and the broccoli felt out of place, but spiced sunflower seeds, goat cheese, candied walnuts and smokey lardons took it up a notch. The only item that's preventing a five star rating is the grass-fed burger ($13). After her first bite, the girl gave me a disappointed look that nullified the brussels sprouts glow. My taste confirmed - a too thin patty of too little beef under a decent cheddar drowned by a too large, too dry brioche bun. Couldn't believe it came from the same kitchen. Silver lining? Truffled fries, but hell, you'd eat a pencil if it were truffled. I'm sort of in love with this place, and would consider the burger a gross misrepresentation. Speaking of love, the servers regaled us with tales of local bazillionaires thieving baby Lodge pans and fry buckets because of their inherent cuteness. Pockets out, Wilford Brimley.

What a lovely surprise! My husband and I came across this amazing place by chance and what an experience! Driving down the tree lined road covered with snow was absolutely beautiful (talk about quintessential New England). We arrived during brunch and had the winter sangria (yum!) and the bacon Bloody Mary and the Brussels to start (thank you fellow yelpers for the recommendation---AMAZING). The omelet was cooked perfectly with blue cheese, caramelized onions and mushrooms. My husband had the tostada breakfast which was also delicious. Our waitress was exceptional, taking the time to chat with us and give us her opinion when asked (I always ask) and explained the chefs tasting dinners that happen once a week (we will definitely go back for this!) Spring and summer allow for patrons to indulge in a cocktail on the outside patio and we can't wait to return! Farm to table at its best!!

Wow, what a meal. I went with other reco's on here and ordered the Brussels...so fricking good. Had the special which was mako shark and it did not dissapoint. Many times shark cake get tough or dry but mine was cooked perfectly. Warm, homely atmosphere, solid service, but the food shined. A bit out of the way but worth the trek from Boston if you have the time.

I'm lucky enough to be able to walk to the Rye Tavern from my parents' house, so I've been here a lotttt. Like, a lot a lot. The food is always top notch and the frequently changing menu keeps it interesting. The drinks are also unbelievable and the staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. If the Lazy Jasmine is on the menu when you go, do yourself a favor and order it. I really love that the Rye uses fresh items from their onsite garden in many of the menu items. And I am so excited for the summer, I can't wait to take full advantage of the outside bar and fire pit!

Wonderful. Lovely atmosphere, farm to table cuisine, and creativity make this an exceptional place. Went for brunch with a party of 4 and we went a bit overboard. Everything was wonderful, including the cocktails. We were not disappointed and left feeling content in a way that's rare these days for a restaurant experience.

The Rye Tavern is one of the best farm to table restaurants my husband & I have been to. The food was amazing. We started out with drinks. My husband had the IPA & he thoroughly enjoyed it. I was pleased with the autumn sangria ... so deliciously refreshing! We had the crispy Brussels sprouts & the crispy pork belly for appetizers. Mmm good. For dinner we tried the specials they offered: Ox tail & Flank steak. Please refer to my posted pictures .. no description needed. We are in town for work, but would def. come back again! This is a must if you're in the Cape!

What a great setting for a restaurant! After we were driving down the dirt road to get there we were surprised to see such a cute place. We ate outside in a very romantic setting. There is nothing around this place but grass & trees, so its quiet. Food was 5 star. Everything we ordered was spot on and the cinnamon bread with the honey butter was amazing. Awesome truffle fries! You must get the Brussel sprouts App...wow! Salmon was cooked perfect and my Our waiter was "on it", and we have both have been servers in the past. His timing for drinks, courses, and checkin in on us was spot on. We were out there for a wedding and found this on Yelp. We recommended it to a few others while we were there. They went the next night a had a great experience too! A must in this area!!

Now that it's getting warmer the patio was open so we went for a late brunch again this past Sunday. Same great menu, varied, friendly and professionally created and served, we had a Marscapone, apple and bacon grilled cheese with the Tavern's signature truffle fries, and the Huevos Rancheros with a creamy sauce that was to die for. The daily baked good was so-so this time, just fresh donut bites with a sugar glaze. Our son's french toast and chicken was good but the maple/ricotta butter was a little too much sweetness along with the syrup and while tasty would have been better on the side of the chicken vs. on top of it. Definitely one for a treat when you want something off the beaten track from the downtown establishments.

This is a wonderful place for food and atmosphere! Go on a Summer night, have dinner, and then enjoy a drink out in the patio after. Very nice way to spend your evening! It is also quite enjoyable just getting to this dinning location. It is down a nice dirt road. Highly suggest a trip to Rye Tavern!

Friendly service from the hostess to the waiter to the busser to the chef who came around at the end and delicious food make this place one of the best restaurants on the south shore. My husband and I ended up here on a whim and it's now on our must-go list. Marrow ravioli and crispy brussel sprouts were perfect starts to a perfect meal. We both had fish dishes and shared a dreamy butter cake with chocolate pot de creme. It was all heavenly. Rye Tavern is truly a hidden gem that offers thoughtfully curated seasonal, local food. The quiet farm setting provides a wonderful, comfortable atmosphere and instantly makes you feel like a regular.

Over rated! Although I have been there before I never had dinner just apps and drinks. Apparently their menu appeals to some who crave gourmet dishes but definitely not me! In fact none of us in our party liked their meals! $344 for bone marrow, rabbit, and rubbery monkfish! No thank you I'll stick to the drinks and apps next time!

This historic tavern may be off the beaten path, but it is well worth the trip. The staff was delightful, especially Jessica, our waitress. The cinnamon quick bread was amazing. Both my tomato salad and scallops were very well done, and waged down with a nice glass of rosé. Outdoor seating was perfect for a summer evening. Only downside: the men's room was out of paper towels.

This place gets 5 stars for about a million reasons. Partly cause it make me think of my childhood. Old Sandwich Rd was the quick way to the Cape from my Grandma's house. Plus my sister road horses so we were always in the area anyway. As a teenager who didn't ride 50 mph down the dirt roads? It was nice to see that that block of land that was always just scarey (I mean didn't they find a baby in the well) has a new invigorating energy and charm. The food was good. Things were a bit on the sweet side (scollops and pork belly) for me but the charm made up for anything the food was lacking. Being a city girl I thought the food was reasonably priced for what we received and the service was 5 stars from beginning to end. I will make a point to take a trip here every visit home. This would be a great venue for a party, a wedding or to just meet up with friends. Make sure to have the chowder. It should win awards :)

This update regards their new patio bar. This is the perfect time of year to enjoy an evening in the outdoor bar area with a cocktail or glass of wine. Rye's staff also continues to impress with their consistent knowledge, efficiency and manners.

Everything here is always excellent. Try the chowder with the mashed potatoes and fried clams....to die for. Nice cozy atmosphere. You can't go wrong with anything you order. Chef is very creative. Only wish they had more things on the menu for people who don't eat meat.

ATMOSPHERE AT outdoor bar was great, the only issue was that every special they talked us into was sold out, menu is small but very well done.

Hands down, The Rye is the best kitchen in Plymouth. My girl and I went for a special date night dinner. It was late summer, we sat outside around dusk. It got a little buggy and when I realized we didn't have bug spray in the car we asked to be moved inside, after we were already seated. It was no problem at all. We had a bottle of wine, we shared apps, the brussel sprouts were delicious, not overly seasoned. The chowder was creamy and full of bacon. Our entrees consisted of med-rare filet, cooked perfectly and a salmon special. What we had is not on the current menu for it changes constantly. Farm to table concept kitchen, which really shows in the quality of their product. The chef and his team really know how to create eye appealing and mouth watering dishes. kudos to them! keep up the good job!

This place was great. Me and a couple friends drove down for brunch one Saturday & were surprised at how such a quaint restaurant could be down a one mile dirt road. While both breakfast and lunch on the brunch menu were equally tempting, I went for scrambled eggs & a bloody mary. Both were delicious and not over-filling. The price point was perfect for good quality food and drink and the ambiance was nice. I will definitely revisit for dinner some time and even another brunch or lunch trip when the weather is nice and the outdoor patio is open!

food was fine dining - 4.5 service was roadside diner - 0.5 7:30 on a Wednesday night in peak summer. We were taking our good friends out in Plymouth where they live. They have had multiple good experiences here, and I and really looking for a place to take them to a nice dinner, relax, have some cocktails, etc. Our food was excellent - the whole menu was interesting to read, love the garden sourcing. Burger was def overcooked for medium rare, but delicious, great truffle fries. Crispy brussell sprout app was great as was the bass dinner. Everything came out together, in a reasonable amount of time, hot and well plated. We ate outside, patio is unreal. The surroundings are idyllic and even the drive out the dirt road makes you feel you're separating from the normal pace of life, etc. Half of our party of four had arrived early and was having a cocktail at the bar. We joined, paid bartender, then sat down at our table mid-cocktail. Not sure if our server held that against us because she did not ask us if we wanted another drink the entire time. Additionally, server was impossible to get a hold of and make a request. Good thing the busboy was keeping our waters full, but she lost sales there, probably another $40 worth of drinks. At the end of the meal, server asked if we wanted desserts and dropped the menus. We were eating outside. By this point it's so dark we can't read the menus so we are trying to with our phones. Server joked that we needed flashlights and kept walking. Then she passed by again and asked if "What are you thinking, kids" and KEPT ON WALKING - not interested in the reply. We decided we didn't want to deal with her shit anymore so we would leave. When server came back, I handed her a credit card and she says - "What no dessert for you kids? get outta here!" Clearly joking, but that's basically how we were made to feel the whole time - just get outta here kids (We are in our 30's btw). We would have had another round of drinks and a couple desserts at this point, but she blew it. I've worked in restaurants where you have to "upsell" all the time. This was the opposite - we WANTED more drinks during meal, after meal, desserts but our server made it a challenge to get them. What is this Dick's Last Resort? I don't like paying for $30+ entrees served with a side of trucker attitude. The four of us at dinner have combined to log a lot of years in the service industry. It's not a good thing when you're out with friends and the dinner conversation is dominated by the bizarre service. My friends were apologetic. May go back and give it another shot because the food was great. But for now, I spent more for the EXPERIENCE and that's what was lacking.

Was in town for work, and needed to find someplace to say thank you to employee for helping...this place is shockingly in the middle of what feels like no where, BUT WORTH THE DRIVE! Waiter was excellent, the setting was wonderful, wish we had been there when warmer to sit on patio at sunset. Pork chop dinner was amazing, with a little kick to the sauce but still sweet. Chicken dinner was something employee said was her best meal entire time in MA. Will be finding my way back here again.

I wish I could give this 10 stars! Found it from recommendations on yelp and we were not disappointed.. It's very much off the beaten path just outside the Pinehills, down a long dirt road. Then it opens up to this gorgeous colonial building with a beautiful patio out front to the left and an outdorr barn style bar over to the right. Adirondack chairs cluster around the side lawn overlooking the beautiful gardens. We arrived late afternoon and sat outside at the bar. The service was fantastic. Our bartender, Wes, was just wonderful--friendly, accommodating, and knew his stuff. We ordered bottle of wine which he kept cold for us behind the bar. Just enjoying our wine in the beautiful afternoon, enjoying the gorgeous grounds.....spectacular! We stayed for dinner and stayed at the bar to enjoy the beautiful evening. The food was delicious. This is going to be a year round favorite for us...sit outside during the nice weather and then enjoy the gorgeous, cozy feel of the inside during the winter. I absolutely cannot recommend this place more highly and cannot wait to go back. This was the best experience we have had at any restaurant in a really long time...the setting is spectacular. Great job!

Do not be discouraged if you are driving down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere to reach this place-you are on the right track. (Google maps had the wrong location, so follow the sign they have posted from the main road). Elegant restaurant tucked away veritably in the middle of nowhere. Yet somehow it was packed with similarly elegant people. Fabulous brussel sprouts and pork belly. Service was also great. It's out of the way, but awesome food. I wish it was easier to get to.

My parents live down the street (lucky dogs), so we come here all the time. Rye is consistently delicious and inventive, the service is top-notch, the management is congenial and awesome. Chris, Chumley and Jo actually opened on a Monday so we could rent it out for our wedding brunch, and it blew all of our guests away. They have an amazing outside bar and lawn, next to their garden (which they source a lot of ingredients from), the decor inside is rustic and inviting. We'll keep coming back as often and as long as we can!

Excellent food--well-portioned! Earthy tone and good combinations that compliment each other; def good strive for farming local cooking local theme! cozy atmosphere, not pretentious. A bit on pricy side, but expected. Best kept local secret, and some ghost stories. Thumbs up!

Absolutely one of the best meals we've had. As many have mentioned, the clam chowder and brussel sprouts are simply outstanding. We ordered sea bass, lamb, scallops with bacon risotto, haddock with pesto risotto and the peach BBQ ribs. All were shared and surpassed anything we've had like that before. Also, make sure you try the s'mores and strawberry shortcake....not disappointed with anything. It was a perfect meal on a perfect summer evening.

One of the Top 5 meals of my lifetime. I cannot urge you to go more emphatically! Just an absolute amazing experience from beginning to end. The Chowder and Scallops (Menu) were the best I have ever eaten, and will assuredly ruin my chances of ever fully enjoying them again until I return. We also tried the Bacon Wrapped Dates (special), Brussels Sprouts, Hummus, and Chicken Under a Brick. While they didn't quite measure up to the Chowder and Scallops (which again is more a measure of how amazing they were), they were each insanely well prepared as well. We finished with the Blondie Sundae (special), which had us all groaning with delight despite being stuffed to the gills. Did I mention the homemade breads were incredible as well, and the service was top notch?! Stop reading this and get your butt out there!

We ate there recently during a weekend getaway in Plymouth. The weather was sunny, albeit a tad cool, and we ate on the patio which was lovely with the sun setting behind the trees. I like that they serve local and sustainable foods as well. Bear in mind that it is not an inexpensive pub-night-out. Update: Since my earlier review, we have had another delicious dinner at Rye Tavern. I still recommend this place for an inventive menu and surprising combinations.

A fantastic experience from beginning to end. The out door area was amazing, great to have a cocktail by the fire. The atmosphere was great inside, busy but not loud. Service was top notch. Menu was great. Chowder - wow. Service was perfect. Thought the prices were spot on. If you think it's pricey, go back to your corporate mass production, national chain stores...thanks. Wife and I will be back as often as possible.

Very cozy Colonial era tavern deep within the Pine Hills. Exposed beams, wrought ironwork, warm wood and low wattage period lamps evoke the VanTassle house in Sleepy Hollow. In fact, I think there was some headless guy on a horse riding behind me on the mile long dirt road through the forest! Menu is locally sourced and very well done. Just had lunch to-day but want to go back for dinner (preferably on a dark winter's eve). Grass fed local beef burger cooked perfectly med rare and parmesan truffle fries on the side washed down with Plymouth's own Mayflower Summer Rye.

Delicious. The food is very farm to table and flavorful. We went for lunch on the recommendation friends and left very satisfied. The atmosphere is very cozy - a lot of wood and dark colors. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back again the next time we find ourselves in Plymouth.

My wife and I were returning from the Cape on a recent Sunday and wanted to try a new restaurant. I used Yelp on the way back from the Cape to find a new place and was presently surprised. The Rye Tavern is a unique experience with the outdoor patio you feel that you are in the deep woods. The food was outstanding. We had the clam chowder with the whole belly clams and awesome entrees. I felt that the 1-mile ride on the dirt road was a big piece of the experience. PS - If you like brussel sprouts this is definitely the place.

We had the pleasure of eating here this past weekend! It was so pretty Our waiter was great! I was so happy to hear the story behind the restaurant. The owners are from Maine which is one of my favorite places!! They buy local or from Maine which was another plus for me!!! Support the locals !!! Ok the food . I do not eat Brussels Sprouts but now after trying them here I do!! They were very good. I had the chicken with goat cheese mashed it was a special and it was also very good. My husband had the beef tenderloin and he was very happy. Drinks were also very good enjoyed the different choices they had. We would like to go back and try the burger. I loved the atmosphere!! Just wish the fire place was working when we were there!! Hopefully next time.

I rarely write reviews here. However, we had such a wonderful dinner at Rye Tavern last night, that I wanted to share this hidden gem. This restaurant is tucked away in the new Pine Hills area of Plymouth. The owners renovated an old farmhouse to create a 15 table dining experience with an eclectic and innovative menu that would stand up to any Boston $$$$ dinner. The farm to table food is prepared with creativity and attention to detail. I'm a bit of a fussy eater, but almost every item on the menu appealed to me. We started with the clam chowder, which for $7 was possibly the most interesting chowder I've ever seen. It was a thinner style chowder that was flavored with the most incredible smoked bacon, as I was eating, I was thinking about campfires and summer nights. The chowder has a dollop of mashed potatoes in it! Which my husband apologized for devouring before sharing with me, Finally, it was topped with two beautiful fried clams. It wasn't at all what we expected and may have been our favorite dish. I had the roasted brussel sprouts. They were almost deep fried like kale chips, and might have been a little odd, but the burnt edges of the roasted sprouts are my favorite, so this was basically a whole dish of them. Alone, it might be over powering, but they are served with a Gorgonzola sauce that adds an incredible contrast to the slightly bitter crispy brussel sprout leaves. For the main course my husband had a flank steak with a gorgonzola butter topping which he enjoyed immensely. I had a salmon dish that was again, unique and interesting. An incredibly moist piece of salmon was served steaming hot, served over a cold salad of roasted leek and half peaches. It was outrageously different. The contrasting flavors, temperatures and textures combined to make it the best meal I've had in a while. All in all, the price was quite reasonable and we had really a meal to talk about. I cannot wait to go back.

If you're looking for farm to table eating, this is it. This place is so good we went here two weeks in a row. The people are incredible and the food, even better. Be sure to get the brussels sprouts. Everything is amazing here, you really can't go wrong with any choice unless you're allergic to it. It's down a long, bumpy, hole-ridden dirt road so if you have a low suspension you might want to think about taking your friend's SUV instead.

Had a good, post-thanksgiving, turkey-free dinner with the family. For starters, the building itself is wonderful. Nicely restored but still maintains all the rustic charm of a colonial tavern. Except for the bright light emanating from the kitchen which kills the period ambiance. And for starters, several of us had the clam chowder with fried clams, bacon and mashed potatoes. It sounds pretty TGI Fridays-like and while it's was over indulgent, the flavors were great. For a main, I had a really nice fillet mignon with asparagus, tempura battered mushrooms, and an au gratin esque potato and a Demi glaze. Very well cooked meat with an interesting variety of flavors on the plate. I enjoyed the individual elements but it was a bit overwhelming all on one plate. Overall, an enjoyable meal and experience. The dishes tended to be overly complicated. The chef would be better off with a more confident and reductive approach.

We went there for something "local" during a visit to Plymouth. We had read the good reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. My guest had the clam chowder and the burger-loved them both. I had the scallops and a special salad-both were excellent. Service was very good and despite it being a busy Friday night they did a great job. The outdoor patio was nice but I would ask for the one that is not near the kitchen-it was noisy with the orders being yelled and the pots and pans clanging. The dining room was noisy as well. The out of the way location made it special without it being a chore to find.

The best around. Started with the brussels sprouts and the clam chowder. Both amazing. Meals were scallops and the chicken under a brick. Scallops amazing, chicken amazing. The mashed potatoes were out of this world. Yummy creamy mashed potatoes made with goat cheese. My mouth just watered. Some will say the noise level is too high. Oh well, stay home. This place is small and when you don't go, it opens a table for those that enjoy a lively place with food you just can't find elsewhere. And the cheat to avoid the dirt roads is Take Beaver Dam and pass Old Sandwich. Take a left across from Little Island. Follow to stop sign. rye in front

I've been to Rye Tavern 3 times now and I'm ready to vouch for it - super glad this place came to town! Yes, it has its flaws - the service has varied dramatically between really amazing and kind of forgetful on my three visits, and yes, it IS very loud - but over all I've enjoyed my three experiences immensely. The vibe and decor are great - dark and cozy inside with beams and lots of woodwork, accented by cool modern-meets-vintage light fixtures and a mantel all aglow with hurricane lamps in the main dining room. The patio is super pleasant too - RT is in a very country setting, with a garden out back where they actually source the veggies you'll find on your dish - outstanding. I love the fact that their dinner menu actually does change every 3-4 weeks - I appreciate a restaurant that is committed to cooking seasonally (unlike other local fine dining restaurants that claim to and DON'T). The potato gnocchi with garden ratatouille and the scallops with summer veggie risotto I had recently were amazing (both off the menu by now I think). Beet salad, bacon wrapped dates: to die for. Brunch was amazing as well - I love a place that will give me a poached egg AND a dainty piece of brioche french toast with bacon and not make me feel like a glutton! And the drinks are fantastic too - love the appropriate rye-based theme. And the price point, for what you get, is flat out amazing. No contest in these parts. Keep up the good work RT - I hope my experiences with you continue to be so pleasant!

Service has always sucked. Live right in the area and have been about 10 times. Never greeted properly, never had a happy bartender and don't even think of ordering a drink that used to be on the menu. The answer is always NO. The food is really good but what's the point if you have someone that seems aggravated that you are even there?

Today, we had our second meal at the Rye Tavern. Everything was perfect The Rye Tavern is perfectly constructed from (1) a beautiful, perfectly renovated antique tavern (2) beautiful farm-to-table food and (3) excellent service. We took our parents today for a "thank you" brunch/lunch. The atmosphere was inviting and sophisticated without being fussy. The service was outstanding (thanks Chris!). The food was over the top delicious, perfectly constructed balanced and served. Prices moderate, and outstanding value. If the notion of driving of 1/2 mile on a dirt road to get here concerns you, either go to Applebee's or get a GPS - its part of the mystique of this place. Rye is a treasure. I plan to make it a regular.

Full marks for the food, half marks for service and high level of noise. My dining-mates and I each enjoyed a delicious 3 courses with drinks and were happy with the variety on the menu- comprehensive enough to please all diets but not so large as to be overwhelming. The ricotta gnocchi, served in a small skillet and topped with ratatouille, was especially divine. I also appreciated the fact that they arranged the wine list from least to most expensive. True winos would probably say this isn't the proper way to do things but it's definitely practical. As for the service, they've only been open for two months so I won't fault them too much. I think they were short one member of waitstaff on the night I dined which may have contributed to the slightly disjointed flow of things. They take a very limited number of reservations, so be prepared for a wait on a weekend evening. The wait isn't half bad, though- you can order a drink from the small bar and sit outside in an Adirondack chair to bide the time.

One of the best restaurants in the area. Despite the long dirt road, my husband and I have tried to come a couple of times last minute and there was always a private party. Finally got a table last weekend. Four of us went. Two shared a pork belly special appetizer which they loved, and two shared the roasted brussel sprouts with parmesan cheese which was really great (admittedly, I love brussel sprouts). Mains, 2 ribeyes--both very happy, I had a swordfish special, cooked just as I asked and 1 roast chicken, she was very happy. Service was very good and the cinnamon bread was a hit (our guests even bought a loaf to take home). Atmosphere is very nice and the staff was very friendly, will definitely be back.

I've visited twice now. The first time I thought I must have gone to a different place than what is reviewed. The food and service were good but not the raves given here. But it was in February after one of the storms so I thought it may have been off a little. Went back this past weekend and still think it is just OK. Yah very good quality food but I really question how pricey I think it is. Especially their drinks. The group started with cocktails then had wine with the meal and deserts and drinks at the end and the bar portion of the tab just seemed out of line with what we got and with what we pay at any other restaurants in the area. And after all Capt and Coke or Coffe with a shot are pretty simple and should be about the same anywhere. The first time we were there we didnt try the Brussel sprouts. The second time we did and I make some similar at home, they were good but nothing I would rave about. Our second App was Calamari and we all agreed it tasted like bait not people food, when we told our server that he did take it off our bill. For meals we tried the chicken under a brick, the salmon and a burger. All were greatly executed but again the price just didnt seem to match up with the amount or the quality. The first time there the service was awesome, but it wasnt very busy. On the second visit it started out great but then after the meal we had to wait too long for desert menu, then desert and drinks and especially long wait for our bill. The setting is nice and the menu does change. I know the bar isnt really big or made to hang out at and have apps and the prices and app selection certainly doesn't warrant that at all.

Grabbed carryout last weekend because we felt like a night in but didn't want to cook! Food was delicious!! I had the ravioli appetizer and Caesar salad, mom had chicken under a brick with goat cheese mashed potatoes. Entree size was enormous, way more than she could eat. We split a chocolate mousse with oatmeal cookies. It wasn't very pretty since we took it home, but it was truly amazing. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. I think the only downside to Rye Tavern would be the size. The atmosphere seemed great but the tiny bar was packed full of way more people than should probably fit and seating is very limited. The night I was there they were setting up a table for what was obviously a large group and over half of their tables were lost in the process. I definitely recommend a reservation, if you can get one. I tried once and they are trying to take fewer reservations in order to allow room for more walk-in customers (though that doesn't really seem to be working). Despite the fact that it was such a busy night, and there was a line of people waiting for a table, the hostess was super friendly and efficient getting my food. The brunch menu looks amazing and I definitely want to go in to try it.

Hoe-lee SMOKES! What a terrific restaurant. We arrived on a Saturday evening at 7pm with no reservation. The hostess said they were completely booked inside until 9:30, but we could sit outside next to a heat lamp and be seated immediately. We opted to sit outside. I kind of assumed that we'd get sub-par attention, b/c there weren't many people out there braving the cold and our waiter would actually be the outside bartender playing double duty. Boy, was I wrong. Our wine and water were consistently refilled, and even though our waiter was very busy, he chatted with us about the evening and often checked-in. Re: food, we started with the mushroom soup and brussel sprouts. I could eat those brussel sprouts everyday -- incredible. Then I had the chicken under a brick for my main -- absolutely delicious. The service, food, and ambiance (fire pit!) were outstanding. Yes, it's out of the way, but very, very worth the trek. We will be back.

I'm sad to say that feel as though my experiences here have become hit or miss. Out of the last 4 meals here, only one was memorable. The wine tasting dinner with chef/owner Joanna Farrar was out of this world. However upon return with family and friends, the same dish as served at that wine tasting was now poorly executed and a disappointment. I was jumping out of my skin to come try the new fall menu when I saw BISON short ribs on the menu. How in the world could bison short ribs NOT be amazing right??? Finally got a sitter and go down to Rye Tavern as soon as we could to try them. What a heartbreaking flop they turned out to be...they were overlooked, bland and disappointingly dry. This place definitively proved that they can pull off some of the best plates around, however I'm sad to say that poor execution with seasoning, over cooking and inconsistencies have made me hesitate to want to come back.

Had dinner Friday night for the first time. Ate at the bar. Excellent service by Jessica. Started w/ Cippolinni tart w/ smoked bacon creme fresh. Creative and delicious. Then the clam chowder. OK this is hands down the best I've ever had! The combination of flavors and texterues found in this bowl of love was extraordinary. What an innovative spin on a classic. I had the duck for dinner. Cooked perfectly, nice sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, rich yummy sauce. Excellent. Mike had the scallops w/ risotto and crispy kale. Flavors were all spot on. Risotto cooked perfectly, kale a nice addition adding some texture and just enough bitterness. Only complaint about this dish was that the scallops were on the small side. We expected fat juicy carmelized scallops. So, they were a bit over done. :( Dessert (warm butterscotch pudding and cookies) and esspresso were a nice finale to a well rounded lovely meal. All in all a great find. Looking forward to returning for brunch.

My husband threw me a surprise birthday party there . The food was fabulous. Even my son who is picky loved the burger and devoured the fries. I thought the beet salad was great and the pan seared scallops just perfect. We were a party of 8 and the service was excellent. My husband and I will be back. I'm thinking it will be a cozy place to frequent during the cold months.

We were visiting Plymouth on a weekend trip and looked the place up due to the reviews on yelp. It is for sure in a unique location, down a backroad. However if you are from the country like me this is now big deal. The outside patio is awesome and we didn't even care that we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation as we sat by the fire pit and enjoyed some drinks. The staff could not have been nicer and more willing to help us. Every recommendation they made was great. The chowder was amazing and unique being on top of mashed potatoes. Brussell sprouts did not dissapoint, and the entrees were out of this world. I did not see anything on the menu or on the specials list that did not scream amazing. We will go back to Plymouth if only to go to the Rye Tavern again. Congrats to the staff for running a first class joint!!

I would have given it five stars until I went back last night. They ruined my favorite clam chowder! It used to be so good, but now they put tons of bacon in it! It tastes like bacon soup! Bleh. I hope they stop doing this... My husband's burger was very good. Oh, the server/bartender was very good and told me she'd pass my comments to the chef.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Rye! I only wish that it was not raining so our party could have enjoyed a cocktail on the patio. The atmosphere is absolutely classic New England. They really did a phenomenal job bringing in that old New England charm with all of today's modern amenities. The beet salad and the scallops and risotto dish are not to be missed. Both were superb! Everyone raved about their meals and the prices are quite reasonable if you are used to Boston venues. I will be back, and I look forward to a fantastic dinner next to a roaring fireplace in the winter! I also wanted to mention that their garden out back is almost ready to be picked, so I would imagine the next few months of dishes will include some fantastic, fresh produce!

1st time for dinner there was a Sat. night, St. Patrick's day. Had been there many times before when location was run by local chef Martha Stone. Very different now. Old walls taken down, little bar put in, many, many more tables added. Martha always came out of the kitchen and chatted with new customers and regulars. It was a nice, relaxing tavern with great locavore food. I must say that nobody here at the Rye Tavern Saturday night made me feel particularly warm and fuzzy and dying to return. The hostess regularly prowled the dining room, maybe trying to judge by the morsels on our plates how much longer we might linger, probably anxious to replace us with the next party. Filament lighting throughout is attractive but the place is way too dark (at least where we were sitting in what used to be the front room) and reading the menu is frustratingly difficult. Our server seemed nice but the restaurant was so noisy, there was little opportunity to engage her and when we got home, my throat was a bit raw from having to speak so loudly to friends we were dining with. Tables and chairs are so tightly crammed together that I can't imagine ever going there for a quiet, romantic dinner. Too bad because the building itself is charming and would totally lend itself to that. I suppose the high noise level and steady stream of diners means the place is busy, which in this economy is a good thing, right? I may try it again because the menu WAS more creative than the typical tourist fare in Plymouth and I'm sure the brunch and weekday nights are probably more relaxed. The atmosphere on the night that I went, however, was much more crammed chain restaurant than friendly, relaxed, upscale neighborhood tavern.

In the two years that the Rye has been open , I have been with friends for a dinner for four in the winter, celebrated my sister in laws bday with 12 people and have gone with two others , have never been disappointed - not a fan of Brussel sprouts? Just wait - you will be transformed! The ambience is fantastic and in the summer sitting outside on their newl patio is a delight for your senses, I highly recommend the Rye for a date or dinner and rinks with friends

Rye Tavern is the place to be! While it can be difficult to get a table without a reservation when the weather's crummy or cold, it's certainly worth the effort and the wait. Personal favorites includes the steak frites and the toffee blondie. Extended family request a visit any time they're in town... A Plymouth treasure!

Awesome little tavern off the beaten path. Warm and toasty filled with the smell of a real wood burning fireplace. Great place for a date night. Make sure you get a reservation, though, as the snobbish hostess informed us there are no tables available for walk-ins. We ended up sitting at the bar which was still cozy and the bartender was absolutely pleasant. The food is good to great. The ravioli stuffed with pumpkin and pulled pork was a bit rubbery on the outside but the stuffing was a pleasant marriage of sweet and smoky. My wife had the scallops with pumpkin risotto. The scallops were so fresh they fell apart with a light fork and the risotto was very yummy. I had the beef tenderloin special. The beef was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. It was served over a bed of mashed potatoes which had a bit of a tasty crunch on the outside. We indulged in dessert as well. A pumpkin cake over chocolate ganache was an absolute delight! The beer selection was excellent as well. I had the Mayflower Wheat Ale special on draft which was interestingly dark in color but smooth and light in flavor.

Just enjoyed an incredible meal at Rye Tavern to celebrate my husband's birthday. We are visiting from San Francisco and, having become spoiled by the limitless selection of fabulous restaurants back home, I think it is fair to say we have extremely high expectations when it comes to food. Between the delicious, perfectly prepared food, outstanding service, and homey, charming atmosphere, we couldn't have had a better experience. We ordered the baked brie, clam chowder, and spinach salad to start, the burger (with parmesean truffle fries) and pork chop (with blue cheese, cranberry chutney, and jalapeno polenta) for our main courses, and shared the skillet chocholate chip cookie for dessert. We were completely stuffed after our appetizers alone, but literally couldn't stop eating - it took all my willpower to refrain from picking up my plate and licking it clean. Our server, Chris, was extra friendly and attentive, as were all of the staff, which made our experience so enjoyable and special. To top it all off, it was snowing outside, which created the most perfect backdrop to the rustic, cozy decor. What a romantic and memorable evening. We will definitely be back before heading home!

My Fiance and I decided to go here since we live only 5 minutes away and we heard some great things about it. My only suggestion is try to take roads in the pinehills, oppose to Old Sandwich Road, that road needs work and it's very annoying and difficult to drive down. The weather was beautiful out, not a cloud in the sky so my fiance and I decided to sit on their little patio for dinner. It was quiet and peaceful, I could of sat there all night because I was so relaxed. We started out our dinner with some drinks of course, then had the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, delicious! The Aioli they use is amazing, along with their homemade cinnamon bread with the butter, MY GOD, I was in heaven! My fiance loves burgers, so he got that where I got the chicken and biscuits. Amazing, once again I was enjoying the whole meal from start to finish with no complaint at all. Then my fiance had the butter scotch pudding for dessert, and I had the brownie sundae, once again amazing. My fiance especially loved the pecan cookies that came with his! Our waiter was attentive, but not in your face, which I enjoy. I always had my drink full and plates cleared off the table because the next course. We will be back!

Fabulous. Went with a party of six. The service was outstanding. Tried all the drink specials and really enjoyed the muddled cucumber and gin. Perfect for humid evening. Everything cooked exactly as ordered. Sea bass were beautiful thick filets. The tenderloin was perfect but even better part of the tenderloin meal was summer squash stuffed with crab, perfect. The duck was good. Probably least favorite but still good. Had three apps - I know Brussels spouts as an app sounds strange but they were outstanding. Beautiful fry with perfect sauce on the side. The tuna tartare and sirloin tartare combo was wonderful. Really enjoyed the beet salad and Caesar. All plates...all plates .....went back to the kitchen empty and the portion size was good. Highly recommend and will go back for sure. Small so make advanced reservation. Nice atmosphere. Great date night or couples. This is upscale dining so would not recommend bringing small children - place is small so really would effect other diners. Mike provided great service. Gardens are beautiful.

At the end of a nondescript dirt road is this classic New England tavern that harkens back to the days of horse-drawn carriages and Ethan Frome. The tavern is an old historic building with an interior composed of exposed beams and bricks. The bar area is small but inviting. We came here for brunch on Sunday and the menu had a lot of great selections - waffles with almonds and cherries, french toast, eggs benedict, steak and eggs etc. I ordered the eggs benedict with the goat cheese - delicious. After taking a look at the dinner menu I know I'll be back here again.

Food was good, but not great. I had the duck, which came out a bit dry and seemed to be overcooked. However, my wife's filet was great and cooked to perfection. Server was very attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere was relaxed and decor upscale country, but it is a very loud restaurant. The acoustics of the place must be terrible, and on more than one occasion we became distracted by the noise volume. Until the owners do something to soften the decibels, we would probably not return.

Are you kidding me bacon mashed potatoes surrounded by clam chowder, unbelievable. This was my second visit to Rye in three weeks and the food is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD, the atmosphere is pure new england. This is now the best restaurant south of Boston!!!!!

Went opening night. Charming, sophisticated space amidst the pines along historic Old Sandwich Road. Varied menu with many want-to-try appetizers and entrees; nice combination of globally inspired and regional New England classic. Tried the scallop and salmon dishes which were very flavorful and served with delicious grain/veg accompaniments. Delicious baby beet/arugula salad. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Looking forward to another dinner on the patio later this summer, and by the fire in the fall!

The Rye Tavern took over the space that used to be Martha's Stone Soup. Remodeled a bit (historic building, so they couldn't do too much) and opened a few months ago. We've been there twice - once for brunch and once for dinner. Pretty good so far. Brunch was quite good. My wife ordered brioche french toast with a poached egg and bacon. I ordered eggs Benedict. We shared the cinnamon roll. Everything was cooked correctly, flavored well and tasted wonderful. We loved it all. A word of warning - the cinnamon roll is huge, served in a cast iron mini-skillet, with melted butter. It easily satisfies two people as a dessert or breakfast sweet. Delicious, but almost (almost, but not quite) too big. Dinner yesterday with another couple. We showed up at 6:30, precisely the time of the reservation, but... no reservation on their books. They were apologetic but had no indoor seating available. We opted for outdoors, although it was already getting a bit cold. We survived the chill and had a very nice meal. Wagyu pork (who knew?) belly and greens, customized Caprese salad, with the tomatoes having been char-grilled. Duck breast, pork loin, hamburger, and sea bass. All prepared well, served well and tasted good. All the veggies are from the garden behind the restaurant, so when they say "locally grown" produce, they really do mean local. If they continue the good service and well prepared food with interesting variations, and change their menus seasonally, they will do well. We need good local restaurants here in Plymouth (several have closed in recent months) and we are happy they appear to be off on the right foot. A couple of comments on non-food items: as someone else mentioned, the noise level inside is high, although they have indicated it will be addressed. And the A/C is delivered via small, high pressure hosing, since in a historic building, you can't easily install duct work. They need to use some sort of air directors on the outlets, since the stream of cold air can freeze you very quickly. All probably initial opening pains, but I thought I'd mention them.

I went during the week. Really liked dishes that reflectedd the region. Clam chowder was one of a kind, best ever and beautiful. This place is a tavern that has the underpinnings of being an authentic tavern feel with a modern twist. Please keep going to it and watch it develop. I plan to. It has that "cheers" type of atmosphere--it has the opportunity to move forward with charm and not be commercial. Could do first plates only (figs stuffed in bacon highly recommended). Or just entrees. Waitstaff I had was knowledgable about what to recommend and right on. If you are heading back from the Cape--great stop, wish I had the exit on hand to add here.

This was our second trip to Rye Tavern. The first was perfect, this time was NOT perfect. My Daughter's scallops were good, as was my wife's pork cutlet and our desert all good. Srevice was very good. However the sea bass I had was the worst, most over cooked piece of fish I have ever had served to me. It was drier than over cooked swordfish. The bacon on top tasted like charcoal it was so over cooked.I love seafood and could not manage to eat more than a third of the fish. The worst part of all was no apology or anything the manager or the chef after I reported it to the waiter.

5 stars for atmosphere! The Rye Tavern is beautifully set in The Pinehills...picturesque as can be. They did a really nice job bringing back the tavern feel of the old days with all the upgrades of nowadays. Beautiful evening so we chose to sit out on the patio. Good thing we made reservations early because they filled up fast with a wait by 6:30pm...and rightly so. Both my husband and I ordered the dinner special ~ NY Strip with a crab topping (ok, it was presented a bit better than that). I would have to say, we were disappointed in the steak. Quite tough for the $20+ that it cost us. No flavor and very chewy. We ordered "medium" but neither steak had any pink center. As curious foodies, we of course checked out what everyone else ordered. Everything was beautifully presented. From the looks of the plates, seems the "fish and chips" and the seared scallops is the way to go! Can't wait to try that..yes, no doubt we will head back soon...one bad meal for us won't sway our soon-to-be trip back (we live within walking distance). Service was fantastic! Keep bringing that bread with flavored butter too..so yummy!

This place is awesome. My in-laws moved to pine hills 2 years ago and we make sure we get to Rye Tavern every weekend we are down in the summer. The outside bar is located next to an open field and can be very quiet; much different than the loud bars in downtown Plymouth. The burger is great with the bacon onion jam on top and truffled fries. My wife had always hated Brussels sprouts but she absolutely love the appetizer with flash fried Brussels sprouts in a goat cheese sauce. Definitely recommend stopping in if you are in Plymouth or on your way home from the cape passing by exit 3.

"Chad's Eats" review of Rye Tavern Cuisine: Creative American Location: Plymouth, MA Parking: Ample designated parking lot Decor / Ambiance: Beautiful charming old colonial farmhouse. Greeting: Warm, friendly, hostess on point....very welcoming Menu mix: Lots of twists on New England classics. Creative comfort food with elegant presentations Water / Bread service: Clean and fresh tasting, no hint of bleachy rinse agent. Bread was wonderful, two varieties with a great whipped butter. Drink pour: Nice wine pour! Just a few sips over the "standard" you'll find elsewhere. Reasonably priced. Food quality: Fantastic. I loved the version of clam chowder. It's was a creamy bacon chowder broth poured over a dollop of mashed with fried clams on top. You don't need crackers here as the crispy clams got you covered. A very creative version we loved. Spiced shrimp cakes with citrus and greens was great. You can get crab cakes anywhere but shrimp cakes! That's a treat. Sandy had the lamb steak & belly, vermont cheddar gratin, roasted carrots, red beet cream, chili caramel, pistachio gremolata 29 and I couldn't resist the grass fed burger with Vermont cheddar, bacon onion jam, house made sweet pickles and truffle Parmesan fries 13. For dessert we split a pineapple upside down cake. Service: Great, very attentive Value: For this class of food, apps, entrees, drinks, wine and a split dessert it was very reasonably priced. Food of this quality in the city would be 20 to 30% higher and you'd pay for parking on top. Bathrooms: Spotless, clean, single serve! Would I return? Absolutely. Comments & Tips: Make reservations, the road is in need of paving that takes you out to where the restaurant is so take it slow.

This was our 2nd trip to the rye tavern and we had a few issues... First I called to make a reservation for 3 and the hostess said they were booked up and couldn't accept a reservation but the outside patio might be available and would be first come first serve. Well we got there and the same hostess was happy to seat us inside or out ( the restaurant was basically deserted? That just annoys me. We chose outside and the meal was pretty good but the service was really slow although credit to our waitress who apologized for the slow service....but where were all the people? I didn't appear busy to me? I ordered the grilled lobster and asked for drawn butter... Another waitress informed me they don't have drawn butter? No microwave she said? Seriously? Moments later there it was with an apology! Lastly the patio was very dark... Almost no lights electrical issues they said that couldn't be solved? Really? How about calling an electrician? Duh! No candles... Don't bother reviewing the check you couldn't see it! Ha ha. It got a little buggy so we were ready to scoot when the meal was done. Food was good but not exceptional so probably won't be back. Too many issues.

Been here twice now for a bourbon tasting and brunch. Outstanding. The dinner events are expensive but make a good date. Staff is friendly. Plan to go back to try out more of the brunch menu. We had eggs Benedict and the French toast and both were outstanding. Look forward to going here in the summer for a drink.

Tried the Rye Tavern again hoping for a better outcome only to be disappointed again. The outside bar is wonderful as far as atmosphere but that's it. The bartenders (3) just seemed disconnected and at times somewhat rude. The food was just so so. Cocktails and beer very pricey.

I live right near Rye tavern and have very mixed feelings about this place, I want to love it but just can't , I have visited about 4 times over 2 years. Obviously as you read these reviews you can see that many love the place, I can't say that is my experience - I gave it 3 stars but would rank it 3.5 if allowed. to be clear we dine out a lot in the general area so I am very familiar with most local restaurants. On the good: Excellent service Creative menu (on some items) Great summer outdoor seating area (atmosphere) Local sourced food Nice looking décor (definitely New England tavern) The bad: Extremely poor acoustics, when full you have to shout to be heard, when less full you can hear everyone's conversation Attention to detail: I can say that every time I get a salad I find a little grit in the leaves, why? Value: Not great. For example: Draft beers are a 10oz pour and usually cost $6-8, that is nonsense. Wine pour is not measured and varies. Entrees are a low of $14 (Burger) to around $35 and while good are not "knock your socks off". One thing I have noticed on Yelp reviews is how most people rank atmosphere and service above the food. Well my rank order is Food, Service, Atmosphere so take this review as you like but if you are going to spend this kind of money on a meal head over to Solstice in Kingston for a great gourmet experience at about the same price or for a little less creativity but better value go over to East Bay on the waterfront. .

Like everyone else on here, the ride going to the Rye Tavern was an experience on its own. It's literally "off the beaten path". We must've driven on the dirt road for about 5-10 minutes before we saw the clearing to this cute little restaurant. We opted to sit in the patio area and we were immediately greeted by an enthusiastic busboy who filled our water glasses as soon as we were seated. Our server followed soon after and offered up a few interesting additions to the menu. Now for the grub - As it is summer in New England, lobster anything had my ears perked so we went ahead ordered the appetizer special which would best be described as a couple of small lobster empanadas with a salmon cake on top served with some sort of herb aioli. Sadly, the empanadas were slightly overcooked and dry (2 stars) but the salmon cake (4 stars) did make up for what was lacking from the empanadas. For our entrees, we went with the scallops and the ribeye. The scallops definitely hit the spot; very fresh and tasty. I highly recommend. The only thing that threw me off was the roman gnocchi it was served with. Tasted and looked different from what I imagine when I think of gnocchi. Is it weird to say that it reminded me of mini pancakes? Feedback on the ribeye was positive as well, although the steak was a tad bit overcooked (ordered med but was served med well). What made this dish a great hit though was the horseradish bacon mashed accompaniment. Loads of horseradish for big bursts of flavor. To sum it up, this is a very charming restaurant with nice seasonal menu changes utlizing their own little farm to fork specials. Their outside patio seating with the slow jazz music playing in the background makes this a nice little romantic garden date spot.

Had brunch recently with a group of six. Always a good idea to make a reservation as seating is limited. Loved the whole vibe of the Rye. Cozy New England tavern, roaring fire greeted us as we walked in. The smell of the fire and the delicious scents wafting from the kitchen set a perfect tone for our visit on a cold snowy day. The table ordered eggs benedict, the pork omelet, squash brûlée, French toast and a hamburger. All done well. Nothing fancy, just quality ingredients, fresh and cooked right. The truffle parmesan french fries were a particular hit. The difference was truly felt after the meal. Everyone left satisfied, but not bogged down by the usual preservative filled Sunday breakfast grease fest. Will definitely be back for dinner!

Well worth the trip down the dirt road. I felt like a pack of zombies were going to jump out in front of my jeep. Atmosphere is great especially the outside bar. Parmesan truffle fries with my burger my god so good, Steak looked amazing to. Great drink selection and great location.

Went their for brunch while visiting a friend. The place is really cozy. Three of us sat at the bar for brunch. The service, drinks and atmosphere were excellent. Two of us got breakfast and it was pretty good, but not over the top. One got a burger, that was amazing. Next time I visit my friend, I'll be making my way there for a burger and a cocktail.

Save room for desert! And the new blueberry muddled cocktail is unusual & yummy. Blueberries are healthy, right? Sure felt good after enjoying it! The Rye is my favorite special occasion restaurant in all of Plymouth. But you don't need to dress up to go there. Casual is okay. Perfect for feeling relaxed and enjoying great food.

My wife and I live about 2 hours away from our daughters and they were looking for a mid-point to treat my wife to a birthday dinner. Rye Tavern in Plymouth was a perfect location and based on its reviews they booked a 7:30 reservation. Regrettably, things did not get off to a good start. My wife and I were the last to arrive (@ 7:15) and we all waited at the bar to be seated. We ordered some drinks including two glasses of the "wine special" (a red wine) which, in my opinion, was stale and about to "turn." It made me wonder if it was on special because they'd had an event the previous day and were trying to move bottles of previously opened wine. The hostess checked in from time to time to let us know that the party at our table was "almost finished" (@ 7:30), was now done and they were waiting to have them sign the check (@ 7:50), had signed the check but were still at the table (@ 8:00), until we were finally seated at 8:15. On the one hand, it was nice of them not to ask someone to vacate the table, but on the other hand, we'd waited 45 minutes past our reserved time. I understand this is being between a rock and a hard place for restaurant management. Maybe I was more sensitive to this at the time knowing that I had a 1+ hour drive ahead of me. To save the day, the food was very good with high to very high marks for the bison, the burger, and the truffle fries (awesome fries). The pumpkin bisque was a bit underwhelming. The service was okay if just a tad inattentive (think empty water glasses). The atmosphere is wonderful and, as others have mentioned, enhanced by the nearly 1 mile drive down a dirt road. So all in all, and now with the wine and wait issues behind me, I can happily recommend Rye Tavern for its menu, quality of food, and unique setting.

I feel as though I should post everytime I go. This is hands down my husbands and my favorite restaurant in MA, and we have visited alot of restautants. We started going when we lived around the corner and now regularly drive 45 minutes to have dinner there. Last night we had dinner there with another couple. I ordered the lamb steak and belly, and it was definitely the best lamb I have ever had, and it was in my top 3-4 meals I have had in my entire life. Perfection on a plate. If you love fresh, inventive food that is more hearty and less frou frou, this is your place. And the staff is incredible- Jess was bartending when we met her, and now she is the GM, and she does an absolutely phenomenal job! She also curates an absolutely fabulous wine list and seasonal cocktail menu. I cannot urge you enough to travel down the dirt road in The Pinehills, and visit this gem!

Absolutely worth the trip. Great service from a friendly staff, and unique cuisine that made it hard to choose what to try first! The clam chowder is fantastic, as were the Brussels sprouts...but my daughters grilled cheese was nothing short of genius. Great food, great and cozy atmosphere...can't wait to go back again.

Once again, the food was exquisite - from Appetizers to Salads to Entrees. Wine list accommodates a wide variety of preferences. Our server was engaging & skilled - she helped guide us toward perfect choices. One request - turn up the heat. It was uncomfortably cold and most guests were eating dinner with their coats on.

Out of town tourist and tried this resturant. I had to continue to try and convince my wife during the drive in. But it was worth it. A comfortable atmosphere and staff provided a great backdrop to a splendid meal. Yes, the brussel sprouts were good along with crabcake for appetizers. For entrees we had scallops and lamp. Both ample and delicious. Coffee and desserts finished rhe evening with ginger spice cake and tiramisu. Recommended.

My boyfriend and I stopped here to have a few drinks. I had the Lazy Winter, which was delicious. My boyfriend really liked the White Chocolate Hazelnut Martini, as well as the Old Sandwich Road. The atmosphere was quaint and warm. I want to come back for food because it looks amazing! Also, they have a fire pit for the summer. I will be back!

Their new outdoor bar and patio with fire pit was a perfect summer oasis last night. The occasional light rain added a romantic touch, as we moved under the bar awning while the staff rushed patio umbrellas to tables equipped with stands. It was still early by the end of our fantastic dinner (the only brussel sprouts I have ever liked; perfectly cooked scallops; and sea bass/quinoa combo that was hearty and delicious), so we tried to think of another place to go to grab a nightcap. Our conclusion: Why move? We were already in the best spot.

We'll keep coming back as often and as long as we can!

food was fine dining - 4.5 service was roadside diner - 0.5 7:30 on a Wednesday night in peak summer.

Small menu but fantastic, fresh food. More expensive places don't match the quality. Service was great.

Very good experience. The food was amazing, as good as anything in Boston, if not better. Room could be loud at times, but tolerable.
