Had dinner here tonight for first time both me and my fiancé . The service was outstanding, we actually had 2 waiters ! Very very nice staff. The food was good, the drinks were fantastic ( I had pear martini and Expresso martini). Will return for sure :)
(5)John T.
Easily one of the best restaurants in the area. The service is always spot on, the food is always excellent, the view is beautiful. The only issue here is what to eat, since everything is so good it's tough to chose. Well worth the drive from anywhere....
(5)Meg N.
My friends and family have said many great things about it.... So I tried it... Now, the only reason I don't LIVE at this restaurant is because the food is not cheap (I'm a college student, and cant afford paying $50-100 for two on a night out). The meals are outstanding. No matter what you order, its delish! The waitstaff is great (although sometimes their accents are hard to understand), drinks are made perfectly, and you have a great view of Nipmuc lake. If you love Sangria you must try theirs The only thing I do not like about Alicante is the parking, and the wait. I have walked out of here many times because it gets very crowded very fast. The only way you get in is if you get their early (around 5) or later (around 8)... otherwise be prepared to way at least an hour. The parking is not that great either, they park your car all along route 16... Its definitely not the kind of restaurant you would find in "the little town of Mendon"... But worth the trip!

I was pleasantly surprised to find a fancy, Mediterranean restaurant in an area that I didn't expect one. The waiters were extremely friendly, passionate, and helpful. Most importantly, the food was delicious and perfectly cooked & seasoned. They hit every nail on the head here, and will definitely be getting a return visit from my wife and I.
(5)Cynthia W.
Fabulous place to hold a function. We held a baby shower at Alicantes. Our guest loved the food, service and great atmosphere overlooking the lake. The staff is very attentive and professional! Couldn't ask for anything better! Love Alicantes! Cindy W.
(5)Mary F.
I have been here several times and the service is always top-notch. Once you enter the restaurant you no longer feel like you are in the little town of Mendon. We sat beside the windows before dark so the lake was calming and peaceful. The ambiance was warm and very pleasing. We had salmon and haddock, delicious and filling meals.
(5)Scott S.
I took my Mom here for her 70th birthday, and it was everything I had hoped for and better! The food, service, and atmosphere are wonderful. I'm aware of no better dining experience in the area, and look forward to coming back for more special occasions in the future!
(5)Amanda M.
One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Great food, great service and it overlooks the water. It's great if you can manage to get a seat outside. Most times I've been, I've had to wait but the most recent time I was seated right away. They have complimentary valet parking. Also, I have a lot of food allergies and they were very attentive to it and made sure everything I ate was safe for me.
(5)Sab K.
Hands down best restaurant, great servers, phenomenal food, off the chart drinks, good atmosphere and the view over the lake is amazing, take your wife there for your anniversary, take your first date here, take your family here, you will not be disappointed! I guarantee it
(5)Michael K.
One of the best restaurants I've been to. I love eating out in Boston and New York City but I consistently come back here. I proposed to my wife in this restaurant and we try to get back whenever we can. The service is excellent, the food is phenomenal and I don't even mind waiting for a table with the delicious sangria and homemade potato chips.
(5)Jack P.
My wife and I love Alicante for apps and drinks on Sunday afternoon. Every few months (special occasions or when friends come to visit), we'll come here and enjoy the evening in the dining room. Have never been disappointed.
(5)Matt P.
Good food, good service. I live nearby and we sometimes walk up and have apps at the bar.
(4)Sarah L.
Haven't had a bad meal *ever*. That's from a pretty persnickety back to home again townie. Given other local options, price is certainly reasonable for quality of service and food. Consistency is the key here.
(3)Stan P.
This has become one of our go-to places for special occasions. Just incredibly attentive service and excellent food. We haven't been disappointed yet.
(5)Joe L.
I mean... Went twice and got the same thing. Some kind of steak. Always went with a big group as I believe the bill was somewhere below a $1k lol. Prob north of that. The waiter was always a big act trying to yuck it up with my gf's dad who pays the bills. My meal was OK and they looked at me strange as I asked for a side of fries instead of potatoes. The view was at a dirty lake and the service was above average. As people rave about this place it makes me more annoyed. If you like to show off on Facebook about were you go and don't care about wasting your $ then this is the place for you! I can't deny the food and service was good so I had to give it 3 stars. For the waste of money it requires to eat this I don't recommend this to everyone.
(3)E C.
Great eats off the beaten path! We dove in after a movie in Bellingham based on the other reviews. No one was exaggerating! Worth the trip. Food was great and service was quick. We sat at the bar, had no issue getting a seat and the bartenders were friendly and helpful! Nice Saturday night!
(4)Mohun K.
They really knocked it out of the ballpark tonight (dinner for 3 on 4/3/13). Martin our sever was excellent. Started with the eggplant appetizer, artichoke hearts, and bourbon glazed sirloin. All excellent. We followed it up with the lamb chops, filet, and grilled vegetables. The creme brûlée was scrumptious. All in all a memorable evening!!
(5)Christine D.
We finally found a restaurant with great food in this area. We ate there at night and couldn't see the water. I can't wait to go back earlier in the evening to enjoy the fabulous view. Bravo!
(5)Wendy W.
Delicious ..we enjoyed stuffed mushroom caps, filet mignon and papaya. Excellent authentic Mediterranean service. Beautifull and peaceful view of the lake. Valet parking during busy hours.
(5)Beth E.
I've been hearing great things about Alicante for a long time, and finally made it there for dinner. The food is excellent, their sangria is tasty, and the service is good. They take reservations for groups of 6 or more, and they're always busy, at least based on the cars outside. It's the type of restaurant that you wouldn't necessarily expect in a one-stoplight kind of town. My one criticism, and I see this often, at the end of the meal, when it's dessert and coffee time, I'm usually drinking water. I don't drink coffee, ever, and by dessert, I've normally switched off of alcoholic drinks. During our dessert, I finished my water, waited a while, and when I didn't get a refill, I started drinking my dad's water. I finished his, and never saw another drop. Please keep me hydrated! All told, a fabulous meal, and I'll definitely be back. This experience was not far off from gaining that fifth star...
(4)Kat D.
Was very happy with my meal. Started with a bowl of the lobster bisque (there is only one size and that one size is quite large). I ordered the seafood pasta special, which was delicious. All in all, very happy with the place.
(4)Megan M.
Love Alicante! Food is always fresh, tastes delicious and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We also love the complimentary potato chips! Carlos and his brother have a fantastic restaurant, whether you sit at a table or at the bar.
(5)A B.
Great restaurant off the beaten track. Superb service, excellent specials, large portions and great value. Terrific view of the pond from their huge windows. Consistent, high quality and meals and service from our perspective.
(5)Jaclyn R.
I'm not sure why I haven't gone more often. My family had one of the first functions there before they even opened. I always thought the food was good, but some some odd reason, I never went back. Living down the street, I always saw that the parking was a total Sh!t show. Not a fan of cars lined up on route 16, even if it was valet. Fast forward a few years later (Nov 2011), I go in here for a few late night drinks with my brother and sister. I had the cider martini.........Let's just say that cider martini was all I needed to rope me back in. I've been back a few times since. Everything is top notch. The service is awesome, the waiters know their menu, never write anything down, know the specials off-hand and are just awesome. Their lobster bisque is out of this world. I love it. Can't wait to go back ...
(5)Ryan And Katie M.
We were pleasantly surprised. Prices were much lower than expected and you get great portions of great tasting food. The service is exceptional. It has all the appearances and tastes of an upscale dining establishment, but you won't be frowned upon if you're dressed casually (jeans) and you won't leave feeling broke. There is a separate bar/lounge area to hang out in if you don't want a full dinner but we recommend sitting down for a full meal (in addition to any delicious appetizers you get). :)
(5)Robert G.
Last night we enjoyed an excellent meal that was served professionally. At Alicante. We started with martinis and a bottle of Blackstone Merlot. We followed with a cesar salad, followed by lamb shanks for two of us, an excellent rack of lamb for Beverly, and a wonderful chicken dish for Carolyn. The restaurant was packed which is testimony to the excellent food and service.
(4)Lisa L.
I have wanted to go here for ages and finally got to go in December. Everyone who has ever told me about it has bragged about the food - and they were right! It was absolutely delicious - and the chips served in the bar along with my glass of wine were great! The service was great, food was great and I would not hesitate to go back here instead of going to a city restaurant where you pay just as much. What makes this place extra special to me is that my parents met here when it was a dance hall (Millie Mitchells) back in the 40's! I felt nostalgic being there and thinking that so many years ago, two people fell in love...Very cool place!
(5)Craig D.
Great food - great menu and selections, great flavors, great location lakeside, and as odd as it may sound, the food always comes out HOT. Service has always been exceptional, whether in the dining room or at the bar. When family or friends come to town, this is the destination. Also one of the few places in the area with a deck (small - only a few tables) for outdoor dining.
(5)Paul S.
Alicante is a remarkable restaurant in an area that I don't always associate with having great food. My wife and I tried it out one night with some friends on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. We both had a butternut squash soup that featured a hint of heat. It was divine. I opted for a NY Strip, which was cooked very nicely. My wife went for the Pollo Lisboa (their take on Piccatta). We also shared a side of perfectly cooked risotto. The service was excellent and the setting was just as pleasing. If I find myself meeting folks for dinner in an area remotely close to Mendon again, this is where I will go.
(4)Tom S.
This place is really good. My wife got some seafood special with lobster, steamers, mussels and scallops. I dont eat seafood, but I tried the mussels because they smelled so good (not bad by the way). I got the Chicken Parm and is was pretty good. Both were good size portions, especially the seafood special. It was very fairly priced as well. Nice atmosphere as well. I think this place would be good for any occasion because of the quality and price.
(5)Lea B.
Fine dining in Mendon, Ma? Who'd have thunk it? :) Took the hubby there on a whim for his birthday dinner..... It was great from the seating overlooking a quaint pond to the coffee and dessert . The service was impeccable , completely knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. The food was scratch made. I got home made cracked pepper infused fettuccini with seafood. My hubby devoured his steak...and he is very picky about his meat! Lol The wine and dessert were also from scratch and the bannana's foster cheesecake I had was to die for. We eat out alot and are always happy to find a new spot for a delicious meal. Prices were very reasonable and portions were generous... Go try it....you will like it! Lea B.
(5)Joshua L.
My wife and I try to go here several times a month. My favorite place to eat...close to my office and home. Food is always good, fresh and the specials are always awesome. The service is better than most places in the region. You have a staff of people attending to you. From going there, we know many of the servers and they are all great peopole!!!! The bar is smaller, but lively and the atmosphere is great. The bartenders make a STRONG drink and the pours are generous. Do not drive by this place...stop and enjoy.
(5)Mike C.
A great hidden gem out in Mendon! Been here twice, and had a great night both times, and more importantly, delicious food. The Lombo de Cerdo (stuffed pork dish) is my personal favorite, and the calimari is excellent. The drinks are reasonably priced compared to some of the cocktails at other upscale restaurants in the area. Only cons of my two visits: I didn't care for their lettuce wraps, and sometimes the waitstaff can be a little awkward in their attempts to engage the customers, but the pros here more than outweigh the cons. Great atmosphere and not a bad view for the middle of the suburbs. I would recommend Alicante and would gladly come here again.
(4)Christopher M.
Excellent restaurant for a quality meal and wine. The food was great - everything was prepared well, and the service was great. Went with another couple, and everyone loved their meals. The view from the bar area looks out over the water. In the nice weather, this would be a great spot to sit on the deck. Definitely recommend it and will certainly be going back. Good wine list with something for everyone.
(4)Wade K.
Excellent location for date. Great food if you're into Spanish/Med. flavor. Service was very good. Always like to here Spanish at a Spanish restaurant. The cortado at end of meal was by far best I have has in the States.
(5)Maureen D.
My sister and I held my daughter's Bridal Shower at Alicante's this past Sunday. The staff at Alicante's made my daughter's shower the most perfect event ever!!! The function room is the just the right size for a shower and has windows on one side overlooking the lake. The lake backdrop is just beautiful. The floor to ceiling stone waterfall on the other side of the room is an outstanding addition to the surroundings. The round tables, comfortable chairs and exquisite linens add to the decor. Their signature blue goblets lend a vibrant color to the already beautifully decorated function room. The attentiveness to detail and the service that was given by the waiters throughout the entire shower from the beginning to the very end was beyond words. The food was absolutely spectacular and served beautifully. Each guest was greeted by a choice of white or red Sangria. We chose a Tapas menu which was the ultimate in taste and presentation, magnificent and delicious!! Each tapa was presented at the table with a description of the tapa and placed on each guest's plate. The warm homemade potato chips and bread were perfect accompaniments. Every detail was carried out by their excellent waitstaff. Alicante's was always our very favorite place to eat, but now, it will be our FIRST choice for a place to hold a function!!
(5)Sharon S.
This is some of the best food I've ever had anywhere. The calamari is by far the freshest and well cooked ever! Last time I was here they didn't take reservations but they may now. Service is superb although the bar can be slow on the weekends because this place is always PACKED!
(5)Jeff F.
If restaurants were cars, Alicante would be a Hyundai Equus (Look it up if you're not familiar). The bottom line? Fantastic value for what is absolutely delicious food. It may not deserve a Michelin star, but I've paid more for food and service that I've liked less and come away satisfied. Alicante is a relatively upscale dining establishment, but seems to be a fairly casual environment. This, I liked, as I don't like dressing up too much. The decor is pleasant, not overdone, and appropriate. We went on a night that was mobbed; the day before Valentine's day. With no reservation I had to park on the street (Valet is offered but not mandatory. I would rather walk a mile than suffer valet parking). We were quoted a 45 minute wait, and meandered over to the bar. Shortly after we got our drinks (Not overpriced), we were apologetically offered a seat at one of the two lonesome tables behind the bar (and near the entrance to the kitchen). Score! On a normal night it may not be a great table, but tonight? Being separated from the bustle and noise elsewhere was a huge plus. We had to trust that our waiter would be paying attention, as all of his tables were elsewhere. Our server was fine - he knew the menu, offered to run through the specials, and performed admirably - friendly, attentive, particularly considering how busy the place was. He never got in the way, rushed us, or forgot about us for interminably long interludes of nothingness. Appetizers were stuffed artichokes (very tasty!) and marinated tenderloin skewers with cherry tomato and mozzarella (very very tasty!). I had the Pollo Lisboa and a nice tart reisling (very tasty! I like chicken piccatta and this was a great variant of it), she had the pork tenderloin wrapped with bacon, stuffed with apples, dried cherries, onions, and probably some other stuff (Very very very tasty!). Dessert was good, but not special - maybe I should have had the souffle (Tiramisu - good - caramel sauce was very good but I prefer chocolate, and Creme Brulee, very good). The pork dish was unreal; should I return, i will be getting it. The prices here are amazing. For a bit over $100 including drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee, tax, and tip, there's nothing to complain about at all. The entree prices are mostly $17-22, and everything else is very reasonable. If you're looking for a nice night out, delicious food, and don't mind a minor splurge, do yourself a favor and go here. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Michael T.
My wife and I ate here based off of a friend's recommendation, and we were highly impressed. The stuffed artichoke appetizer is very flavorful, and the portions for the Seafood Risotto were large enough that we could split our entree, and it was delicious. We also tried the house specialty Sangria (both the white and red, we preferred the red) and it was very well made. The servers were extremely friendly and efficient, and we felt we received great value. The view of the lake is also an added bonus.
(5)susan c.
Best martinis anywhere!! Food is always cooked perfectly. Great Job!
(5)lori m.
i have been to alicante many many times. the energy here is awesome, it's a great place for a date, the food is consistently amazing. the service usually is too but the only complaint i have is the waiter we had last week was a side show. i mean, really weird dude. the mariscada is something to rave about...so much fresh seafood, spinach and delicious broth i ate it all. and there was a lot of it. i hope i never, ever get the clown we had the other night. that was just too much to handle with my mariscada.
(5)Lily H.
What a wonderful experience I had at this very tasteful restaurant. My mother took me out for my birthday and had a beautiful view of the lake, friendly waiter who went out of his way to make sure my birthday was special, and just a nice general ambiance. The food was absolutely breathtaking. The lobster bisque was out of this world! I have recommended this restaurant to many friends who live outside of Mendon who have found it to be as enjoyable as I have.
(5)David B.
I am not a regular at Alicante but every single time I have dinner there the food was just great. Dining at the bar has a great view of the lake and the drinks are made well. Get there early for Saturday evening dinner because they get busy fast.
(3)chris l.
Good Value! Food and service was excellent. Setting is nice and comfortable. Can get dressed up or go casual. Valet parking and self parking on the street is available. Be prepared to wait if you arrive after 6PM. Reservations are only available for a party of 6 or more. Good for any occasion.
(4)Kyle B.
Every time I leave Alicante I feel as if I just robbed them because the food, drinks, and service are incredible put bill is always so little. Everyone I know who have gone here have nothing but rave reviews. If you can, try to get a group together and make a reservation because otherwise you may end up parking way down the street and then waiting a good hour just to sit down. Yes.... It is that popular! This place is so good I'm having a hard time thinking about what to write about. I'll put it this way, if you're a fan of Spain restaurant (Narragansett or Cranston) you won't be after you've had a chance to try out Alicante.
(5)Angela B.
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times for special occasions (Family dinners for Easter) and always found the atmosphere to be nice and upscale. I recently went for dinner and had to wait in the bar to be seated. We expected to get drinks and find a seat but they have table service at the bar which was a nice surprise. Our waitress brought us chips while we waited (which wasn't very long at all). Everyone was friendly and the service was phenomenal from the valet to the hostess to the waiters. The food was wonderful and was really quite a bargain. I would definitely recommend.
(4)Peggy Y.
I have to agree with what other reviewers have said. This place is great! I went for the first time today and I have to say that, while it was pretty empty on a Sunday afternoon, we were treated like VIP's. We were seated immediatedly and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. There was attention to detail and presentation was wonderful. If I were to complain at all it would be about two things: the music was a tad too loud to carry on a good conversation and, although I had heard you would often leave with a doggie bag, I left still a little hungry after the risotto with shrimp, scallops, and salmon. It was a fairly light portion and a few hours later, I'm hungry, really hungry. Everyhing else was quite good, at a reasonable price, and I do plan on returning.
(4)KATHY w.
I've been there only three times, tried a different entree each time and they were absolutely wonderful. The prices are quite reasonable and the food is given the utmost care. Plus, while you're waiting they give you their warm, homemade potato chips. Sometimes parking's a nightmare as the lot isn't huge and one may need to park along the side of the road, but it's well worth the inconvenience.
(5)Shani W.
I can't say how wonderful this place is. any time of the year is great, but summer on the patio is the best!! AND SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! the service is beyond exceptional, you feel like long time friends from the second you walk in the door. we. love. it. here.
(5)John F.
This is unarguably the best restaurant in the area. It is located on a lake and the view from the bar is great. Their food is consistently good/great. The service is also consistently good/great. I have 2 minor complaints. 1- the menu has NEVER changed. This is not a huge issue as what they do they do quite well and they do have specials each day. That being said, I'd like perhaps a seasonal menu. The other gripe I have is their unofficial policy of reserving bar seats for regulars. We generally dine there 5-6 times a year. Recently we thought we had a seat at the bar only to be told that the bar seats we attempted to occupy were reserved. Really? Such a turn off. My star rating would be 4.5 if I was able to score that way. Points off for treating your customers differently.
(4)Kevin O.
Excellent restaurant, great service both at the bar and restaurant. Fish was fresh and tasteful. Parking is a challenge, however if they have valet use it.
(4)Bob G.
Had a great dinner and amazing service! Brooke and Heath were both outstanding. Made our night very special. Great food and atmosphere.
(5)Cheryl R.
What a surprise. We have lived a half hour away and never knew this restaurant existed until last week. The lots was full and the streets were packed with parked cars for this restaurant, and we assumed there was no room so I called while driving by. The hostess said they were having functions but there were plenty of tables for two still. The place was huge, romantic, food was fantastic. The pork dish was amazing and the salmon as well. The service was tops. I didn't know it was a dressy place and next time I will take advantage of dressing up for this special place.
(5)James C.
Best Restaurant in Central Mass without a doubt. Alicante is my go-to restaurant. The food is always amazing, the service is top notch and the staff is friendly and accommodating. I have used Alicante for functions, group dinners as well as countless dinners with the family and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. Alicante provides a big city dining experience, and for the quality of food, a good value. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you have not tried it, you should!
(5)Cheryl S.
Great atmosphere, service, food and drinks! Love this place!! We had our wedding reception here a few years ago and I couldn't have asked for better service. They were so accommodating, now we come here every chance we get, Fernando is the best waiter ever, he always knows exactly what we want! Can't say enough good things about this place. It's my favorite!
(5)James H.
Glancing through the reviews here, you'll see a bunch of 5 star ratings. This one will be no different. Food was fantastic. I had four courses. Bruschetta, Lettuce wraps, and a huge seafood compilation and dessert. Every course was better and better. Service was super and the view from the bar area overlooking the pond was fabulous. Highly recommend
(5)Tina C.
Went to dinner 8/30, food was wonderful, swordfish, seafood risotto, appetizers, but..... only giving 3 stars for the service, we had to repeatedly ask our server to check on our drinks, appetizer, salads and drinks again, we were not in a hurry at all but should not have to keep checking, when we go again, I think we will stay in the bar and eat there
(4)Dine A.
Not a fan. I've gone more than a dozen times hoping to have a better experience and I've finally given up. I want more then anything to love it there. The food is delish, it's local, great view. But I'm sorry they have the worst staff issues imaginable. The owners/chefs are kind and caring when they come out and chat with guests and a few of the females bartenders (twins I believe) are very nice too. But they are the exception at Alicante. From the moment I step into the restaurant I immediately wish I chose another option. Some of the staff are condescending, unappreciative, cold, unpleasant, downright rude in my opinion. Others rave about it, those others are the regulars. They favor the return clientele and leave the patrons like myself feeling like a second class citizen if my bill is under $150. I find it pretentious and frustrating. I won't be back...there are other places in the area just as good.
(1)John L.
We had a spectacular dinner at Alicante on 12/13. Great Service, good drinks, and fantastic food.
(5)Amy P.
By far the best in town!! With me being gluten free, it is very hard finding a place that actually knows about gluten free! This place is by far the best at everything,.. there waiters knowledge about gluten free is out of this world! Its a nice atmosphere. Its over looking a lake, its not a loud restaurant, people are friendly, well educated about there menu and they don't miss a beat. Also, being g gluten free, most of the restaurants dont have a desert menu but they DO!! YOU WILL SEE BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I BACK!! Thank you for an awesome experience!!
(5)Scott B.
I have been to this restaurant many times for functions and dinners. The food is always good. The service is spot on and the atmosphere is nice. My wife has a gluten allergy, almost all items here can be made gluten free. The wait staff will more than happy to assist you in a selection. Overall great place for good meal with a great view of the lake to relax and enjoy.
(5)Jane H.
Would be a four except my paella was just okay. I wasn't thrilled with the texture of the rice. But all the seafood was perfectly cooked, and the service was - as alway - excellent. Good wine selection, reasonably priced. Head and shoulders above anything else in this "restaurant desert" between Providence and Worcester.
(3)Mike B.
Been there many times. The food and service is very good. Views of the lake add to the wonderful ambiance. Great for special occasions. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so easily.
(4)Steph G.
I'll echo what everyone else is saying. The food here is good, and very surprising given it's middle-of-nowhere location. Meal stats: the eggplant appetizer is INSANE and the artichoke appetizer is also really good; paella was average; the stuffed pork loin wrapped in bacon was a star; the veal saltimbocca was great. Desserts looked like they weren't made in house, so we avoided them. +Beautiful lakeside location; can't WAIT to eat/drink at the bar! +Service was excellent. The front of house staff skewed young and the hostess was a bit scantily clad and aloof, but our waiter made up for it. +Food is good and is an exceptional value for the portion size. Can't wait to go back!
(4)Robert B.
The food is always great and the service is awesome! Joe,Carlos, and family run a terrific restaurant in the "Little town of Mendon". I am lucky to have lived in town all my life to see all the different owners of the location since it was Milly Mitchell's restaurant, and this is as good as it gets! My favorites are the stuffed chicken when they have it on special followed by dessert, usually a chocolate Martini!
(5)Jose R.
Great place to eat. I like it for late night. It's usually busy but sneak to the bar and fill up on homemade chips. There sweet. Plus good drinks and everything on the menu has been great. Love the risotto drivewayscorp.com
(4)Trisha W.
Each person on the staff was particularly happy and helpful-an anomaly which is hard to come across it's usually the opposite. The food was fabulous-each shrimp cocktail was big and fresh all the seafood for that matter was very fresh. Went here for a wedding reception-yes there was a wedding that took place here which was way better than a church. It's on a lake-enough said. I can't comment on the value since I didn't pay a penny, but I'd imagine you'll get what you pay for- fine service, stunning views of the lake, and excellent seafood.
(4)D B.
Went here last night. First off the food is excellent and the service is solid. Everything we ordered was prepared very well and tasty. My only complaint, and it's kind of minor depending on your eating habits, is that the main course dinners my wife and I ordered came with items not described on the menu. She got a seafood dish that came with a big side of rice and my veal was served on a large pile of mashed potatoes. She doesn't eat rice and I don't like mashed potatoes. If we had known this we would have asked if we could sub in something else. Again not a big deal but it would be nice if the menu had included this in the description, not sure why it's not. I'll definitely go back but now I know to ask the server questions and not assume.

My job likes to send me to really exciting towns like Marlborough and Milford, MA. After a literally terrifying drive through downtown Boston (seriously... who let me get a rental car and drive around, much less attempt to park,) during which I felt like I almost died no less than 4 times, I decided to retire to the burbs for the night and find dinner closer to my hotel. This was the best decision I made all day! On a recommendation from both the hotel staff, a colleague and of course the ever trusty yelp, I decided to set myself up at the bar to grab a quick meal. This was a Sunday night during a NE Patriots playoff game, so as you can imagine it wasn't extremely crowded. Super friendly bartenders (I think BOTH named Tim?) greeted me right away and promptly served me a generously poured Pinot Noir. I had the "cup" of lobster bisque to start. This literally could have possibly been a meal in itself accompanied with the complimentary bread and hummus (genius!). At $5 for this humongous and delicious serving which had very noticeable pieces of lobster meat, this was maybe one of the best values I've had in I can't even remember when. For my main course I had the perfectly cooked rack of lamb over potatoes and other assorted vegetables. The sides were neither standout nor forgettable, but the rack of lamb was the real star. Well cut, medium rare and easy to manage, with only a slightly gamey taste which is exactly how I prefer it. I'll definitely be back next time work sends me that way - definitely a hidden gem that I was super lucky to discover. Take that downtown Boston lobster roll quest.

WOW, this was great. Went on Saturday night. Got there at 5:45pm and they were able to seat us right away, by 6:15 though the place looked packed. First off, the view was great. We were looking over the scenic lake. The food was outstanding, some of the best i've had. The wait staff was great. I would have to say some of the best service a have received. They were friendly, attentive but not pestering, and so helpful. I saw this saw attitude with all the tables around us. They knew what they were doing. I had one of the specials, the Veal Alicante, great choice, so glad I got that. It was a veal chop with all kinds of good stuff on top. Definitely recomend that. My wife got the Stuffed Pork Tenderloin. When I tasted that I questioned my choice, but in the end i was still happy with what I got. Another member of our party got the Chicken Parm, While Chicken Parm doesn't sound exciting, they did a great job with it. The deserts were pretty good, we enjoyed what we had. They were good but not phenomenal; everything else else was. I will most definitely be going back. They don't take reservations for parties less then 6. If you find that a problem, call me. My wife and I would be happy to go with you!

One of our favorite places in the region, which I highly recommend. Alicante did a wonderful job of planning out the bar area, and knew to 'go big' in capatalizing on the view of the lake in Mendon. We've been coming for many years, since the time Alicante opened it's doors and I'm sure we will continue coming for many years. It's so nice to have a couple of vegetarian options (I highly recommend the vegetariano) which are flavorfull, artfully plated and fresh! And, we absolutely LOVE the home made chips. They remind me of the ones my best friend from Lisbon used to make. The staff, including bartenders and waitstaff is always professional and friendly, providing consistently efficient service. We eat at the bar, enjoying the view most often, but when we are with friends, we prefer to enjoy the dining room. The bar can get a bit noisy (in a good way) but that's what bar dining is all about and I like the fact that the TV's are present but never over imposing upon the bar chatter. Both the dining room and bar provide great, though different, dining experiences. Cocktail tip: The sangria's are really tasty but the Alicante Mojito is so good, as is the Expresso Martini. I do wish the outside dining made better use of the awesome lake view, but don't know if that was possible due to the way the building is situated on the lake. I wish these two brothers, who are by all accounts great businessmen and chefs, the very best of restaurant success for many years to come.

On a scale of 1 to 5 they made my wedding a 10. We wanted a small ceremony with an intimate 5 course, wine paired meal and it was outstanding! Not one complaint. The staff was so kind ,diligent, professional and spot on. Darren guided us in choosing the perfect meal and wines including a flight of desserts and we could not have had a more wonderful experience, Everyone of our guests enjoyed it. We recommend this restaurant 100% and will be dining there many time in the years to come. Happily, Mr. and Mrs. David Mitchell

I don't get why everyone seems to rave about this place. The food is good but I don't get what all the hype is about. I guess it's the limited choices for restaurants in the area.

My husband and I came here on our anniversary. Every bit of the experience was great-- the view from the deck, the service, the wine and our dinners! Highly recommend.

We took our Mother there for her 83rd birthday tonight and couldn't be more pleased with the service, the food and the atmosphere! Thanks to all that made this night spectacular!! Highly recommend!

This restaurant has very shady ways of handling wait times! There were two in our party and waited over 1.5 hours! Funny thing is we witnessed at least four groups of people that checked in after us and had under six in their party get seated before us! They must be SELECT customers! Never again will we step foot in this place!

Went here last night for a friends birthday. Sat on the patio overlooking the lake, beautiful view. We had everything from appetizers to dessert, everything was cooked perfectly. I recommend the pork tenderloin!! I think the best part of the night was our servers, Heath and Brooke, they were so much fun, didn't rush us and just made the night extra special.

The best restaurant outside of Boston. Great for special occasions and for any occasions because they make you feel special. The wait staff is outstanding and I have actually told managers at other restaurants they should dine here to see how it is done right. The food is great and the presentations are remarkable. I don't even open the menu but simply wait to pick from the nightly specials. I don't know for sure but I think it is a family run establishment with family involvement but it shows pride of ownership and attention to customer satisfaction. This is a 'must go to' restaurant and worth the trip.

Went with a large work group, so we had a limited menu. Some things were excellent (a beef and mashed potato appetizer, stuffed salmon) other things were so-so (the dessert). I gave it 4 stars for the gorgeous location and the lovely views.

Alicante is amazing! My boyfriend took me there last weekend for our anniversary and it was our first time going. We got right in and we sat at a table over-looking the lake, which was beautiful. We got a pitcher of red sangria which was delicious. The food is excellent. We had the calamari appetizer - perfectly cooked. I had the veal limone and my boyfriend had the mariscada alicante and both our meals were awesome. Service was great too! This is truly one of the best in the area and we cannot wait to go back!

As good as it gets. Wonderful staff, relaxing atmosphere. Delicious food. Had the most succulent rack of lamb, perfectly prepared fish and exemplary appetizers. This is the only fine dining place in this part of Massachusetts. Will return .

Amazing service, food and inspiring location... I've been here two or three times with work colleagues. The most striking feature is the location on the edge of the lake. Inside the decor is a little tired but this is soon forgotten as the service is slick and professional. Food is expertly cooked and the desserts are delicious. Today we were on a set menu and I had chicken with rice followed by Oreo cheesecake. It was gorgeous. Highly recommended for an intimate or group gathering.

I have loved this place for years, a guaranteed great meal and perfect service every time. It is nice to go when it is still light out to see the views of the lake. Prices are very reasonable. Drinks are good. They are also very accommodating with meal preparation. Each time I go it always makes me realize I should go more often!
