No chairs/tables but plenty of delicious and dirt cheap goodies. Easy to pass by but decent on-street parking. Got a variety of goodies, at least 6 things and amount to less than $4. Nice folks too. Cash only folks.

If you've never managed to get in the door because THEY ARE ONLY OPEN ON WEEKENDS- put it in your calendar. for the hermits alone, this place is profound. For the ambiance (old school from the old world, people), it's priceless. For the money (5$ for a coffee cake, seriously???) it's unbelievable. Really, it is a hidden gem and I love it.

I'm sitting here eating maybe my ninth piece of Kay's pumpkin pie, and wondering why no one thought to buy a third one. Luckily they let me take home what little was leftover. But it's not just the pumpkin pie. Anything you order here is just amazing: the custard pie (a family favorite), the pie squares, the rolls, the cookies. Everything is melt in your mouth fantastic and made without any gross stuff. Only open on weekends, Kay's is an amazing treasure of Holyoke.

This place is amazing. I wish they were open every day of the week. Sadly, they are only open on weekends. Their doughnuts are kind of misshapen, but the best I've ever had. The weird shape adds to the experience. They have a great variety of both raised and cake. Every type I've had has been delish. Where else can you get a dozen doughnuts and/or danishes (raspberry, pineapple, cheese, apple) for $3.60? They also sell pies for $5 and have a good selection of other pastries. Don't attempt to get a coffee or anything other than pastries here. They are serious about only selling baked goods and not having any tables. You can order pies, cookies, cakes, etc for pickup other days. It really feels like going back in time when you go to Kay's. This little block of Holyoke is the old Polish section and several of the stores are like this. Love it!

I stopped at Kay's on a Sun. morning around 8:00 AM after reading the reviews on Yelp and just wanted to try someplace new. The neighborhood is not as bad as I thought it would be. The building was run down, both inside and outside, lighting and display case seem to both be from the 1950's. The biggest thing this spot has going for it are the prices. I bought a sugar raised doughnut and a cheese square for only .73 cents ... yes, .73 cents. Who can afford to sell at these prices. I saw a sign that advertised a pie for $4.00!! Now, for the bad news. The quality was equal to the price. My doughnut was not light or cake like. It had the texture of bread dough with sugar on it, kind of like a dinner roll. The cheese square was a good size, but no flavor. I would have thought a vanilla or custard flavor would have come through, but just very bland. I did see several boxes packed and marked for different churches and family names which would indicate that the locals like the quality and price. I would not return, but for the price you probably get a great value. I just don't eat doughnuts often so I want a great one when I do. I just have to realize that a price comes with that quality.

Do not let the neighborhood (it's not that bad, just run down a bit) or the interior (it's old) put you off. This place is awesome. First off, the baked goods are fantastic (pies, rolls, breads, pastry etc.) Second, the prices are insanely low. I do not know how they manage to stay in business charging what they do. You will never find a better value for baked goods in MA than this place. If you do, you are probably eating sawdust. Pick a weekend day, make sure to get up early or the old church ladies will buy up all the good stuff, and get your butt over to try them. You will not be disappointed nor will you end up spending more than 10 bucks unless you feeding a small village.

Ever since I was a little boy my grandma would take me here for great pastries! It's a typical stop after church on Sunday! The best and freshest! I hope they will be here forever!!! Best Boston cream donuts and coconut custard pies ANYWHERE!
