Their donuts remind me of Shipley's here in town but one notch up! I can't go to Lake Charles without stopping by! Get 'em while they're hot!

Soft, fluffy, melt in your mouth delicious. If you want donut holes, come early because they sell out quick. It's been at least 8 years since I had Nelson's and they still meet expectations. They open at 5 am. There is a drive thru and some parking in the front and the back or you can also park next door. I went to McNeese and lived around the corner from this spot. It's a must try.

Good donuts. 2-stars because every time I go they seem to have an issue/attitude, specifically targeted towards me. I'm very polite to these people, sad. I've gone with friends and I've been completely ignored by the female at the window. I'm not even from here; I'm learning what Lake Charles locals are like. As I said before, good donuts.

Nelson's has been a mainstay in Lake Charles ever since I can remember my family has been eating their donuts for well over 40 years. There are two donut shops in Lake Charles as far as I'm concern those of you who are donut fanatic know the other one is located on Highway14. I've never eaten them side by side so it is impossible to say one is better than the other but a fresh hot glazed Nelson donut is a pleasure you really want to experience. Grab a dozen sit in you car and eat them.

I grew up eating these donuts, and although I've eaten donuts all over the US and now live on the East Coast, I still think Nelson's has the best donuts anywhere. The strawberry filled and chocolate glazed ones are my favorites. Every time I bring my sons to visit the family we still have in LC, we go to Nelson's at least once. Fantastic!

Nelson's is easily my favorite donut shop anywhere. They are always hot and perfectly glazed. I remember when they first carried kolaches and they would use the donut dough around the meat. I had not seen that anywhere prior and it instantly became my favorite kolache. A friend of mine drove all the way from Houston recently and brought back Nelson's donuts and kolaches back to Houston for us. The donuts were as good as always, but something was different about the kolaches. They changed the bread recipe!!! I was distraught after eating a few. For anyone that has had a Darrell's sandwich knows you don't mess with the bread. Nelson's kolaches have been destroyed. What once was a unique and amazing treat has become a bottom of the barrel product. I wish Nelson's will bring back the old kolaches. Until then I will just have to go back to buying donuts. :(

Friendly service. We got a mixed dozen bc we had never been to Nelsons donuts and we wanted to taste a lil bit of everything. The best one that we agreed on was the apple filled; its was downright yummy! The original glazed was the 2nd runner up! The other cream filled ones were not that great. I had actually removed a little less than half because all I was eating was the raspberry filling without donuts bread; simply too much cream filling. When we return we will be sure to get the Apple filled an original glazed!

My husband grew up in Sulphur and didn't even know about the glory that is Nelson's. These are some magical delicious fluffy crispy doughnuts. The doughnut holes are as yummy as the doughnuts from which they came just teeny!! Prices are great and service is always nice...even at 6am. Get there early for a glazed and a chocolate milk and get on with your day...its gonna be great!!

I always get donuts here when I come to L/C, Picked up 2 dozen hot glazed this morning.... No other donut shop I know of can beat Nelson's........
