Diabetics at Whataburger
Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.
Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:
A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

High Cholesterol at Whataburger
Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. A coworker and I came for lunch one Thursday. The lady who took our order was really friendly... It was almost surreal. She gave us an order number to put on our table, and within 10 minutes (probably less than 5, but I wasn't timing so I'm being conservative) another crew member brought us our food. Not only did she bring us our food, but she asked if we wanted any ketchup or other condiments (she had a tray full of them). She even offered the spicy ketchup because she liked it. My Whataburger was amazing! It was unlike any other fast food burger I've ever had. I agree with another reviewer though- there was a bit too much mustard. The fries, though! OMG the fries were outstanding. I never thought I would find a French fry better than McDonald's, but I did on Thursday! Holy cow. They were hot and crispy with the right amount of salt. Coupled with that spicy ketchup... Perfect! All in all, it was a visit I won't soon forget. I'll think twice before stopping at McDonald's or Burger King from now on and make the drive to Whataburger.

I think this place is kinda overrated. It's just average to me. The beef is nothing special, buns don't seem fresh. Patty melt is average. Normal average fast food fries. idk, JitB seems better to me. Prices are high for quality and portion size. Service is slow. Workers are nice though. In-in-Out is like a million times better than this place. I don't even really like 5 Guys that much, and they are better.

I learned that this is a Texas Chain. I couldn't image all the fuss until.... yep, I ate a burger. The number 1 Burger with grilled onions. And oh...the spicy ketchup was divine! Let me know say that I am from the Midwest and grew up on a farm and today don't eat that much beef. BUT, when I come back to Texas, what out Whataburger, here I come!

Whataburger -- one of Baton Rouge's most redeeming qualities! And I don't mean that as a put-down on Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge is just fine. I mean, who am I to knock Baton Rouge? I'm from Shreveport! But you know what both Baton Rouge and Shreveport have that New Orleans can't claim? WHATABURGER! I grew up on Whataburger in Shreveport. In high school, it was my go-to stop while rushing home to make curfew. Thankfully, they're open 24 hours. This location in Baton Rouge is as well. Don't be one of those people that says all fast food burger joints are the same. I'm calling B.S. on that. Whataburger is not McDonald's with an orange roof. It's a totally different animal. Well, I guess technically they're both "beef," but you know what I mean. I never venture from my standard order of the Whataburger with cheese meal. Why would I? It's perfect. Salty, freshly made (so be just a little patient, ok!?), quality toppings (extra pickles, please), and big enough to make me full but not make me want to hurl. The fries -- and ketchup -- are great too. I usually try to get an extra ketchup dunker to take home with me for later use. I don't understand why other fast food chains still use the squeeze packets. They're the WORST! In sum: WHATABURGER!!!!!!!

I am giving this 5 stars for a couple of reasons. For a "fast food" restaurant the food tastes great and the staff is incredible. It is one of our favorite options when short on time. We have eaten both breakfast and lunch there and have never been disappointed. I LOVE the fact that they keep French Vanilla Creamer for your coffee. Yum! Today I witnessed an employee going way beyond her job description. Sharletha noticed a customer at a table across from us, taking the lettuce & tomatoes off of her burger. She walked over to make sure that she had not made a mistake on the original order. She was fully prepared to get her a new one. The customer reassured her that she had gotten the order right, but decided to take off the veggies after the fact. All I can say is WOW! I don't know of ANY fast food place that takes the time to notice things like this. Yes they are busy at lunch time, but definitely worth it.
(5)Jon R.
The only reason this gets two stars is because it's whataburger. NEVER have i visited this location and gotten my order as spoken by me, even if it is correct on the receipt! Stingy with the condiments, and who doesn't put napkins in a to go order from the drive through? Get it together, and stop being so damn lazy! 15 bucks my ass. Ha!
(2)Mary B.
Pretty good tasting for a fast food joint. They are rather slow, but that's ok, since the burgers are decent. The only negative to me is that the sodas are always watery, every single time, so I opt for tea. Of course, it's open 24/7, and they serve burgers all day, though they do have a breakfast menu as well.
(3)Joseph D.
I have had burgers at Five Guys and In-n-Out.and hundred of other chain and independent burger joints. I like Whataburger. It reminds me of the burger places I knew growing up in central California. My wife had the bacon burger I had the cheeseburger both of us had fries. This was a two hands bend over and dig in burger. Fries we thin and crispy. I also liked the choice of spicy or regular ketchup.
(4)Sedonia L.
We visited this whataburger twice, and both times the staff were very generous and the food fresh and delicious! Would recommend!
(5)Jason B.
I haven't been to Whataburger in 8 years. I used to eat there a lot, and really loved it, but went back and wasn't impressed at all. The burger quality was crap, it was a messy burger, and the fries were bland. I was looking forward to going back to one of my favorite fast food places, but it just didn't satisfy me as much as it used to.
(2)Ashleigh N.
They have really good prices and their breakfast is actually pretty good. I always get scrambled eggs and the sausage + pancake platter. So delish and more than enough food for one person. Awesome for college students and night owls. Only 4 stars bc I haven't tried all their food I only ever get the breakfast which is only available like at or after 12pm.

Don't tell anyone, but I was born in Philadelphia. I'm a dreaded Yankee, a carpet bagger if you will. To my credit, I got to Texas as soon as I could (it took me 6 years). When you grow up with such a terrible secret and trying to pretend you're a native Texan, you quickly realize the key to blending in is Whataburger. On the list of Texas institutions, Whataburger is right up there, sandwiched between Nolan Ryan and the Alamo. Lucky for me, Whataburger is easier to fall I love with than country music (took me a while, but I got there too). Whataburger is like my third Grandpa, old fashioned, dependable and hard working. When we moved to New Orleans, you can imagine my horror that the closest Whataburger is 45 minutes away. It could be worse I suppose, it could have been 46 minutes away. Here are a few menu suggestions. Can't beat a straight up Whataburger, but the patty melt is a decadent alternative. I personally skip the fries and go right for onion rings every time. The lemon pie is a great way to cap off your meal. For breakfast, the potato egg and cheese taquito is one of few things that will get me out of bed with a hangover. I am happy to say this Whataburger is one of the best I've been to anywhere. Clean and with good service. I definitely recommend this little taste of home. Now if we could just get one built in Metry......
(5)Jon G.
If I'm in Baton Rouge and don't otherwise have dinner plans, I make a point to hit Whataburger's drive thru. We seriously need one of these in the New Orleans area! Pity the green chilie option stops at the Texas state line.
(4)Jeremy E.
The manager, Rebecca, was quick to make it right when the kitchen staff accidentally bumped our order off and we never received it. When we went up 20 minutes later to ask for a refund so we could leave and visit another establishment, she genuinely apologized, gave us our money back and STILL MADE OUR FOOD! She recognizes the importance of good customer service. Hopefully one day her entire staff can follow her example. Onion rings were awesome!
(4)Christopher W.
Whataburger is one of the best burger franchises in America. Its always fresh and hot with that great mustard, you can't ask for more but they have more. Their fries are better than McDonalds and they feature a spicy ketchup that is on point. Im glad they don't have one of these in New Orleans or I would be eating way more burgers that I should. This location I must say though was good but I have had better. You can tell they are good though because whenever you come there is always a line in and out. You see what I did there....
(4)Petrayris H.
Slowest fast food restaurant I have EVER been to!!! Food is good but be prepare to to wait like 10 minutes if you go through the drive thru.
(2)Ryan S.
Food came out slow. Food was cold, too much mustard, burger tasted bad. Go to mooyah close by instead.
(2)John L. H.
What a burger indeed! I am not sure who started the tradition of reviewing something special every hundred reviews, but I like it. Milestone reviews should be something special and meaningful. This review may not be my 1400th, but it is my 100th review for 2104. So, in the tradition of milestone reviews, here is mine for my favorite fast food burger chain on the face of the earth. This Whataburger location is the closest to my house. Normally I wouldn't consider 65 miles away close, but beggars can't be choosers. Since this location is so far away, I rarely get to visit it. That rarity probably contributes to my stellar rating, but hey, I love this place. The burgers here are top notch. I have tried nearly every burger chain with the exception of in and out and Whataburger reigns supreme. Even the toppings are above and beyond other restaurants. That crisp fresh lettuce and chunks of real onion combine with the beef and cheese to build a flavor that is downright awesomeness. Awesomeness. It's so good that I had to repeat myself. Get the picture? What goes great with an amazing burger? Amazing fries. Whataburger's fries are the best in the business. Picture McDonald's looking fries, but with significantly better flavor, saltiness and texture. OK so they're nothing like McDonald's fries, but they do look a little like them. Now here is where I may start to sound a bit like an insane person. Whataburger has the best ketchup of any fast food restaurant. Hell, if they would bottle their special blend of ketchup, I would buy it by the case. Skip the new "spicy ketchup" and go for the original. Want a pro tip? Take a single fry and bend it into a v, then squeeze the ketchup between it. Voila! Maximum ketchup consumption. The other awesome thing about their ketchup is the packets. These aren't the BS squeezable kind. These are made for setting in your cup holder and dipping just like I described. While I don't advocate dipping and driving, this type of vessel makes ketchup dipping 37.2% more safe. Don't believe me? Ask your insurance agent. Service has always been friendly and prompt at this location, but I couldn't care less about that. Keep making those amazing burgers, fires and ketchup and I'd accept service from someone with Ebola. That's how much I like it. The End.
(5)Mabel R.
First timer. I got a #5 which is a cheeseburger with bacon. Tasted just like McDonalds but a step up in taste and bigger portion. They also have the servers bring you the ketchup pack of your liking (regular or spicy) which is cool. Replaced my combo drink for a shake instead and the strawberry shake gets a two thumbs up. It was good but idk if I would come back in a hurry. Just glad I got to try it since we don't have this in California!
(3)Marcy S.
First of all, this place is not FAST food. It takes quite some time to get your food BUT I think it's totally worth it. They serve breakfast from 11PM to 11AM, which is my favorite thing so YAY! The service is hit or miss depending on how many customers are there and what time of day it is....did I mention it's worth it? Try a bacon, egg & cheese taquito (read: breakfast burrito) and you will not be disappointed. The dipable salsa is simply icing on the cake.
(4)Jack H.
Whenever I want to feel like I'm back home in Texas I'll swing by Whataburger. They never disappoint. Their burgers are huge and delicious. Their ingredients are much higher quality than most fast food joints and they're open 24 hours.
(5)Jonathon R.
Overall, I like Whataburgers in general. I happen to live across town from the only Whataburger in town, but every once in a while, it I just get an itch to go have a Whataburger. I have to say that this place makes me kind of side. I like the burgers (they are one of my two favorite fast food joints), but this place takes FOREVER. My roommate and I wanted some Whataburger tonight, so we loaded up in the truck and headed out. We got there and decided to order, the woman was nice and gave me my drink before the rest of my order (I actually like that a lot), and then we waited, and waited and waited. We did finally get our orders and headed home, with our meals, but after an unnecessarily long wait. I once went inside during the day and stood at the counter and was never acknowledged, so it is a pattern, but if you aren't in a hurry, the wait isn't such a big deal.
(3)Lee M.
I don't typically get fast food but I needed something quick. I got a combo but my sandwich left me wishing I would have gotten something else. The fries were better than I expected so that should have been my main course- essentially the infamous spicy ketchup made them taste really good. Maybe I should have gotten a tub of fries instead.
(3)Yelp's King Of Alexandria L.
I don't know why people make such a big deal over this place...because it does NOT live up to the hype! However, the service is beyond EXCELLENT...as soon as you walk in the restaurant, about 4-5 workers will greet you with a smile. This fast food joint is set apart from the others because it has actual WAITERS that bring out your fast food (I know...how ironic!). The only thing you make yourself is the drinks! The workers brought the food to my booth before I even barely sat down. There is also someone who walks around with napkins, ketchup, salt, etc. The menu is identical to the menu at McDonald's, Burger King, Sonic, etc.... The inside is clean, but extremely old fashion...reminds me of a scene from the 1950's or something!!! They need to update ASAP!!! The food was good...but like I said, NOTHING special. The fries tasted like your normal McDonald's fries and the burger tasted like the typical Sonic burger. The drive-thru is also 24-hours. The prices were about the same as McDonald's and Sonic as well!!!! LIKE I SAID........IT'S NOTHING SPECIAL!!!!!
(3)Robert R.
Hmm, whataburger is tough to describe. It's good, kinda. But then again, it kinda isn't. Honestly, I wouldn't normally recommend whataburger. I don't like fast food in general. But as far as burgers go, it beats out mcdonald's, burger king, etc... but that isn't saying very much at all. While a fast food burger will never win against a real meat patty, - you know the kind I mean, at least a half inch thick - whataburger is pretty good for what it is. The best part is the toasted bun, but it goes downhill from there. You can't actually taste the meat patty, and thats with no cheese. I never get a fast food burger with cheese, cause you won't taste it. But yeah thats about it. The fries are really really sub par. Like some of the worst fast food fries I've ever had. Also, the burgers are expensive, even for fast food. But now and then, its worth it. Whataburger is decent, but will never be a major part of my life. Still, I'd be a little sad if they shut down from sucking as bad as they do. Clean up your act, whataburger, and you may go far.
(3)Dru M.
I don't tend to review fast food restaurants, but being close to a Whataburger...just makes me smile. :) Short and sweet review...standard Whataburger menu and quality of food, good service, quick drive-thru and clean restaurant. Overall...go get yourself a burger. You deserve it!
(4)Andrew M.
One of my all time favorite fast food joints, this one is just as Texan as my number one location (Beaumont). It's tricky to get to the place, since all that exists is a small sign about three feet high. It's your standard Whataburger fare, with my recommendation being the junior BBQ Cheddar Burger with jalapeños. Always fresh and clean!
(4)Chim P.
I've heard really good things about Whataburger from friend and others while in the Marine Corps. Most of these recommendations came from Texans. I finally tried Whataburger for the first time and was not too impressed by the quality. I ordered the Double Whataburger with everything on it to truly experience what Whataburger was all about. I wasn't too impressed with the average behemoth of a burger and devoured it in 5 minutes. Whataburger is truly not worth the hype. In my opinion, In N Out has Whataburger beat.
