This place is great. It is about a half hour from home down the Ohio River. We love the drive and the reward at the end of it. Not a budget buster at all, but just really good food. The way you order is kind of unique. There are a line of benches along one wall. When busy, they are full of people in line sitting and reading menus. They move down the benches until it is time to order. You are assigned a table and the food is brought out. I have never had to wait more than 30 mins and usually less. Nice family atmosphere, always good food. Shrimp and Grits with a little wine and I am good!

This place is AMAZING! We drove 45 min to eat here and would do it again! Hubs had glazed meatloaf with 3 cheese grits - best I've had ever! I had the brown and I have no words....it was awesome. Super friendly folks and a casual atmosphere too. Can't wait to come back.

Kinda different on the service. You walk up and order at the counter. Makes tipping a moot point unless you leave cash. Crab cakes were passable. Shrimp and grits were very good. Prices reasonable. Would be five stars if they had service.

It has a different atmosphere. You order first, get your own drink, they bring out the food.(kinda like noodles & company) But the food is"chef" prepared. the food is worth the drive. Try to come at an off time. Small dining room and gets busy quick.

A friend of mine from Lexington and I were looking to meet up, and the full trip was a bit much for one of us to make, so I took up the task of finding a place in between the two to meet. If you are not from around here, please go here! If you are coming from the North(Cincinnati for me) the route leading up to it was so frickin cool and it built the anticipation. Winding hills, thin roads, quick turns, and the Ohio river right next to you, man it was cool. But I swear it was worth it. I walked into Jewell's and met my friend and we got in line to order. Once you order, you are directed to a table and then they bring your food to you. It still has that dine-in feel, but it was more efficient(no long wait for service). I got Jenny's(I think) Hot Brown. First time I have had a hot brown and holy crap, was it excellent. It had an excellent crust on the outside and a good center once you broke through. It also was a wonderful atmosphere, filled with locals who are chatting away and a service very keen to make friends. It was an incredibly positive experience and I find myself very lucky to have found it. Keep doing what you're doing, Jewell's.

This place is worth the special trip to Warsaw for sure. It had been a long time since I had been down there but it still has that small town charm. This place is right across from the court house and the owner told us the place had sat empty for 20 years and was about to fall in on itself when they bought it. It may seem strange to order at the counter by the food that cones out isn't fast food for sure. The beef medallions in the bourbon sauce were amazing and green beans tasted like they had been in a crock pot all day. I watched a woman dredging food while we ordered so I know nothing was frozen. This is a place that should get their time on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. Make the trip. You won't be sorry.

We were staying at Belterra and drove over to Warsaw for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We had good timing since we go there at 1:15 and they only opened at 1pm. Be sure to check their hours before you go! Great food and cozy small town setting. The chicken fingers were really good and fresh cut fries. Don't expect to be waited on since you place your order, they assign you a table, and then bring it out to you. You have to get up to get your own drink refills. Overall, a great experience.

Dined here during my weekend in Vevay, IN (Swiss Wine Festival). Very unique selection for a small town restaurant! The dining room was on the small side, but it's lovely, nonetheless. I wasn't too fond of having to stand in line to order at the counter, but the delicious food made it worthwhile. The bread pudding was outstanding...sadly, they ran out before I could order some for myself. Surprised to learn they're closed on Sundays; seems like the ideal place for a Sunday brunch. Will definitely return if I ever find myself in that area again!

We decided to take in Jewell's on Main for our 10th Wedding Anniversary dinner--we wanted something new, but not necessarily crazy expensive since we're heading to Louisville to celebrate "officially" in two weeks. So, we bundled up our wee girl and headed down 42 to Warsaw. Unfortunately, the wee girl decided to get car sick, so somewhere between the Gallatin County border and Jewell's, we turned into some gravel road with a screaming child to clean her up and get her changed...already too far to turn back around, we pressed on to Warsaw and to Jewell's. Glad we did! I was frenzied from the car sickness incident, so I didn't really read the "instructions" as to how to order: 1) pick up a menu 2) stand in line to place order 3) we'll assign you a table. It was PACKED. I guess Thursday night at 6:00 in Warsaw is dinner time! My husband stood in line to place our order, frazzled me and sad little girl decided to grab a high chair and a table until we were told that we couldn't sit where we'd decided because it was reserved--though I was frustrated, I realized I hadn't completed my "read" of the instructions. In my defense, when you've been eating out for 30 plus years at counter service restaurants, you usually just grab a table. The front house manager assigned one to us immediately, and was incredibly kind when I said, "I'm really sorry--she just got car sick, it's our 10th wedding anniversary and it's not going so great!" Seated, we didn't wait long for our appetizer and drinks, while more and more people kept streaming in! The food was lovely: we dined on Fried Green Tomatoes, Bourbon chicken, bourbon beef medallions with 3 cheese grits and my daughter, now feeling MUCH better, had chicken strips. The fried green tomatoes were my favorite part of the meal, honestly--lightly breaded in cornmeal, not too thick, not too thinly sliced and served with an Asian style sweet chili sauce. The Bourbon chicken was tender, the potatoes with carmelized onions and country style green beans were good, too. I loved my husband's cheese grits, but I'm not much a beef fan so I can't really comment on his meal. I had an Elk Creek Pinot Grigio and my husband had a Blue Moon. We did end up taking much of our meal home as portions are ginormous. A glass of wine, a bottle of beer, appetizer and two entrees, plus kids meal and the damage was only $40. The front house manager told me that the menu changes seasonally, which is wonderful. Which brings me to my only hiccup... Being new to a restaurant or one with a changing menu, you want to have a bit of time to look over the menu. In this type of environment, standing in line at a counter when people are pouring in, group after group, you can feel a little rushed. I don't know that the restaurant is condusive to complete table service, but I'd like to go back at a slower time so I can take a little more time in deciding. We took a menu home so next time I'll do a little studying before we go!

The wife and I took a drive down to Sugar bay Lillies this summer and stopped at Jewell's for a late lunch/early dinner. We shared a salad, bayou shrimp and a club sandwich. All were very good and reasonably priced. If you are in the Warsaw area or just out cruising, stop and eat there...it is well worth the drive!

Found this place cruising through on a business trip. I had the shrimp and grits which was excellent BTW. The deal is you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Drinks are self serve.

We found this place with the help of Yelp, after getting a teeny bit off-course during a road trip. Good thing for the wrong turn, otherwise we never would have experienced the magic of Jewell's. We started with a bowl of Italian chicken noodle soup. The bowl was large and the soup obviously homemade, with large chunks of chicken in a rich, tasty broth. Hubby ordered buttermilk chicken tenders and fries. Not an exciting choice, I'll admit, but the execution was spectacular. He got four breaded chicken tenders which appeared to amount to two whole chicken breasts. You could tell by the taste of the fries that the fries had been in whole potato form not too long before they hit the deep fryer. I ordered the shrimp and grits as my entree. As hard as I try to describe the deliciousness of this dish, it's not enough to capture it. A generous amount of shrimp in a smoky, velvety, bacon-y tomato-based sauce atop of buttery grits. I ate WAY past the point of being full simply because it tasted so damned good. They has a nice selection of local wines, and the service was great. If you're traveling through the area, make a point of stopping at this place. You won't regret it.

My husband and I ate here on the way into Louisville for the derby. Really quaint atmosphere, neat building, wonderful food, excellent prices, and friendly staff. Per yelp recommendations my husband had the meatloaf and he loved it. I had the Kentucky hot brown and it was delicious! Well worth the trip off the beaten path.

When great chefs come up in topic, Jewell's on Main's Chef is always in the mix. The only problem I had was choosing which meal. So many suggested their favorites. It felt like a good burger day, so that's what I did. So glad I did, it was perfectly delicious. My boyfriend had meatloaf. What I loved about that was, I got to taste it. lol! It looked like a steak and very beautiful with the green asparagus on the plate. Nice presentation. It was all very reasonable which puts it back on my list to return and try the pork tenderloins and all the other favorites.

My husband and I are driving to look at leaves and stopped at a restaurant in Warsaw Ky called Jewell's on Main. Huge portions and delicious food. You must place order at counter and drinks are self service, but the food is fine dining. It is now 12:30 and the place is full. This place is a must to try!

Excellent chef prepared food, with seasonal menu. Very reasonable prices. See the website, it contains lots of background info, hours of operation (closed Sundays & Mondays), and a menu. Warsaw is your typical small town in the middle of nowhere. You don't really "go to" Warsaw as a destination, more like you "happen to find yourself in", or pass through Warsaw. However, if you do happen to be here, and hungry, Jewell's is the place to go. In a limbo of only a handful of restaurants, (all fast food or pizza), there's a hidden, well, 'Jewell'. Trained as a chef, the owner/head chef came back to his hometown to bring a little refinement to an otherwise cultural desert. Named after his Grandmother, Jewell's is located in a quaint building that over 100 years ago housed a general store, and has the same floor to this day! The menu changes somewhat with the season, with some favorites holding a year-round position on the menu. Also, unlike the Specials in many restaurants, where "special" means, 'stuff we had left over and had to do something with it before it spoils', the Specials at Jewell's are as they're intended. Seasonal off-the-menu offerings, and delicious Chef Experiments. For example: fresh, sushi-quality Ahi Tuna steak (grilled to order) with a rice pilaf and grilled asparagus. The specials change often, if not daily, so don't expect to get today's special sometime next week. The "veggie delight" sandwich is a personal favorite, with marinated and grilled squash, zucchini, and portabella mushrooms with baby spinach, micro greens and feta cheese on flatbread. Or you can find offerings such as burgers, steak, Hot Brown, catfish... Upscale to down-home, everything is prepared with a chef's fervor and passion. They care about the food they serve here, as they cater to locals and family. This also keeps the prices quite reasonable. Ordering is a bit different here with a "family & take-out" feel. You go to the counter, place your order and pay, then you are seated as a waitress takes care of you. The non-alcoholic drinks are self-serve. This may seem strange for a sit-down restaurant run by a chef, but it works well. Especially because the place is often quite busy. There's not much reason to visit to Warsaw, unless you're local. Having said that, Jewell's might just be a reason in and of itself for a day-trip to this small river-town. If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to give Jewell's a try!

I can only attribute the high reviews of this place to the fact that this is basically the only restaurant in Warsaw KY. The food here is even less than mediocre, and my husband and I tried many dishes from this place during the 4 days we were in Warsaw (only because the only other option was Dairy Queen). All sauces and dressings were store bought, from a jar. The fried green tomatoes were undercooked and tasteless. The creamy pasta dish was pasta in a completely liquid sauce that was more like a broth. Salads were mostly basic and uninteresting. They forgot one salad when we ordered takeout the first night. The only passable dish we found (out of the 12-15 that we tried) was the Greek salad. The ambience is also lacking- it's more like a diner than a restaurant. In short, only go if it's your last resort, and be prepared that the food is mostly edible but not much more.
