Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is your pretty average Mexican restaurant- great for people in town visiting, and has above average queso. No reason you shouldn't eat here, especially if you're staying somewhere with in walking distance!

The worst Mexican food I've ever had.. I told my waiter we are not going to eat anything. The manager came over apologized and proceed to give me the full bill.. no discount.. then the cook came out to apologize and then asked for my number.. Not only the worst food, terrible service but also made a single mother with her children very uncomfortable. I wouldn't even give a 1 star but yelp requires at least that...

My boyfriend and I were visiting my dad out here for Thanksgiving and we had both had enough pie, turkey, and mashed potatoes. We came here for a refreshing change of menu and it was AMAZING! Our server was so nice, very attentive, and seemed to know that we would love our food. I got the chicken with cheese and mushrooms (forgot the name) and subbed my rice for steamed veggies. He brought us out a huge piece of chicken marinated perfectly with a generous side of veggies. My boyfriend really enjoyed his margarita. If we ever get back out that way, we will definitely stop by here again. It's great.

Authentic Mexican. In a word, I would describe the food here as fresh, esp. the salsa. (Although the salsa could have been hotter/spicier to suit our tastes. They did provide hotter when we requested it.) We tried the fajitas, quesadilla, tortilla soup, and 3-amigos dish- all great. Large selection of Mexican beers. Pitchers of Margaritas!

Yummy..good authentic tasting mexican. Had to ask for guacamole, but they made it fresh, and it was delicious, but a very small amount. Two of us split chicken fajitas, plenty..wish I had an authentic mexican rest. near me like this place.

This place was a much welcomed place to stop after a long night of waiting and searching for food! We got to town late and didn't get around to dinner until about 9:30. Mammy's Kitchen and Talbott's Tavern were closed for dinner, so we went here and were glad we did! The service was awesome and I have to give them 5 stars because of that. I'm pretty sure they stayed open just for us, because they first told us they were closing at 10:30 and when we hadn't finished they said they closed at 11. I had the quesadillas which were good but not great. I would have preferred a little more flavor but still managed to eat the entire thing so I guess it couldn't have been that bad. Tried some of the fajitas which were reallyyyy good. Nice ambience with the decorations and authentic Mexican music! Our server called us amigos which was nice since it was like we were BFFs. They Dos Equis beer on draft for $2 and JUMBO margaritas that hit the spot. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, and I'd definitely recommend it to other Bardstown visitors.

Wow. Somehow in the middle of Kentucky was some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. I had fajitas with a mixture of shrimp, beef, and chicken and they were seasoned great. The meat was tender and the veggies were cooked to taste. I also ordered a jumbo margarita (44 oz) which contained an ample amount of tequila in an area known for bourbon. The only negative at Rincon Mexicano was the chips and salsa. I have had better elsewhere. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. You can buy the decorations right off the wall since most have price tags on them.

I cannot believe that I am the first person to give this place something other than 5 stars. Given the rave reviews for this place, when my husband and I were in Bardstown visiting the nearby Heaven Hill Distillery, we were really excited to try this place out since we really do love Mexican food, and really what could be better for soaking up some of that bourbon we had tried? Maybe it's because we came at an off-time (we came in just after 3), but I feel like so long as a restaurant's kitchen is open, it should provide solid food whatever the hour. Definitely not the case with our meal. The standard, complementary chips & salsa, which are pretty hard to screw up, were screwed up! Several of the chips in our basket were under fried, meaning that that they were like teflon, and were far from crisp and crunchy. This did not bode well for our mains, as you might imagine. I ordered a combo plate that had a burrito, an enchilada (both looked identical on the plate, btw), and a chile relleno. The burrito and enchilada were filled with ground beef (they never asked if I wanted something else in there) and it was SO greasy, that my plate looked like an oil-spill of that orange-y grease. It was so gross, that I literally took two bites of the burrito and decided I just couldn't eat it. Unfortunately my chile was hardly better as it was SOGGY. There is no excuse for a fresh-cooked chile relleno to be limp like this was, which clearly means that Rincon Mexicano pre-fries their chiles and then reheats them which just doesn't work. My husband ordered the chile verde, a pork dish in a tomatillo sauce, and it was marginally better than mine (in that it was edible), but it wasn't anything special. I get that Americanized Mexican food isn't going to be fancy schmancy, and even at the best of times it's not going to be all that healthy. That's fine, I get it. We didn't walk in here expecting fine dining or diet-friendly food, but it would be nice if the food here didn't so sinisterly remind me of my own mortality! If you'll note, pretty much all of the other reviews mention the fabulous margaritas, so I'm thinking that maybe if you're drunk this is good Mexican food, but if you're sober: dios mio! The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because, as others have mentioned, the waitstaff are really nice. But to all those who were so swayed by them calling you "amigo" upon your arrival, I have to ask: do you eat out so that you can make friends or so that you can eat well? If like me, your dining motivations are the latter, then you are better off avoiding Rincon Mexicano at all costs!

We arrived in Bardstown, Ky in the evening, hungry and tired from a long day of driving. Rincon Mexicano was the only place open after 9pm. We were welcomed with a warm and friendly smile by Leo and called us "amigos" when we walked in. We ordered our food and margaritas, which arrived quickly. We had the rincon burrito and enchilada mole which were incredible! This restaurant out in the middle of nowhere was a wonderful find. Leo made us feel so comfortable and he was very friendly. The service and food were very good and if we're ever back in Kentucky we will eat here again.

Surprisingly good Mexican food in Kentucky! My boyfriend and I came here and had a few margaritas and shots of tequila. The margaritas were above average and the food was great! Everyone who worked here was really friendly!

Great spot to go for some darn good Mexican food. Its not like the other places in town. Here they take the time to talk to you and makes the atmosphere feel like your with family. as a local, I would recommend this place to anyone, local, brought in, or tourist. Its great!

We were visiting Bardstown from California and were a bit hesitant to try a Mexican restaurant in Kentucky... But not too many places were open on Sunday evening, and it looked inviting so we decided to give it a try. What a wonderful surprise! We had some of the best Mexican food ever! I had Camarones Vallarta and my husband had Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. Both were delicious and nicely presented - flavors terrific. The Dos Equis was cold and the service warm and friendly. Next time we're in Bardstown we'll definitely plan a return meal ... Wish I could import them to Northern California!

This is the best Mexican food in Bardstown. I live here and have tried them all, but I love the downtown atmosphere of Rincon and their flavor is the finest!

The location is great, the decor is pretty good, but not great. The service was very good. The food was fantastic! After eating at another Mexican restaurant in Bardstown the night before and being disappointed, my experience at El Rincon was excellent!!

Good food. Be ready to wait for super slow service though. Get there early as you will be waiting quite some time for your food. Good food. Barely okay service. Nice and friendly just slow as ever.

Great spot....imagine a "real" Mexican restaurant in the heart of bourbon country! Friendly staff, excellent menu selection and super service. Pleasant change of pace from hours of grumpy bourbon tasting room hosts.

One of the better chimichangas I've had in a while, but I still prefer them crispier. Ate here for lunch with extended family. The food took about 30 minutes and it was nowhere close to busy. Chips and salsa were a bit gringo for my tastes. Nice amount of tequila in the 44 oz margarita. Ideal location near the center of old town. Server was friendly...and Mexican. Prices were reasonable, but the portions are smaller than most Mexican restaurants (which means normal serving sizes).

Mmm! First time trying this place and I was pretty impressed. We sat outside and it wasn't too busy. Got our food quick and it was delicious. Drinks were good too, there were 10 different flavored margaritas to choose from and I got the banana. Our server was awesome; he was friendly and polite.. Called us señor and señorita ;)

It seemed like nothing was going right for them this evening. Credit card machine broken, slow service though kind, and unfortunately the saltiest food I've ever had. I couldn't finish more than a quarter of my meal. 48 dollars later... Not exactly happy about that. I hope they are able to turn this around because it was quite the disappointment
