What is it about JoJo's Pretzels that makes me such a fan?! That slightly sweet, slightly salty pretzel is the perfect snack in between checking out fabric's at Lolly's, stocking up on bulk candies at Aunt Millie's, and browsing the dulcimer collection at Simple Sounds. It could also be the nostalgia associated with coming here often with my siblings, grandmother and mom when I was a kiddo, always a good time. Stop by if you're visiting the Mercantile Building in Shipshewaka!

Just ate at Jo Jo's Pretzels in Shipshewana (my husband and I). Awful!! Smoked chicken croissant did not have a smokey flavor one bit. The piece of lettuce served with it was very wilty. Ham wrap had one maybe two almost see-through slices of ham, with the cheese being a few sprinkles of shredded cheese. Even the diet coke could have been better. Coffee was good but came from restaurant (Kitchen Cupboard?) next to it (they kind of shared the space). Then we decided to try a pretzel anyway. Terrible!! Not fully cooked, not fluffy, too doughy, left a lump in stomach. Cheese dip was ok, but fake. We didn't even eat half of the pretzel. All in all, a total waste of $20-some dollars!

We went here twice in one weekend - it was THAT good! As my five year old says, "best pretzels I have had in my whole entire life!" Awesome to see them rolling the dough and twisting the pretzels, dipping them in water and shaking on the salt. They were delicious. Such a gem in a great little Amish country town.

They roll 'em out in front of you, run them through the oven, and then you devour them! If you go to Shipshe without stopping at Jojo's, you have made a huge HUGE mistake. While the kids may prefer there's with cinnamon or sugar, I prefer mine with salt, and then I mix the 2 kinds of mustard into a combo and have a party in my mouth. A coke from an old-style bottle also helps it go down. Yum !

I've been going to Shipshewana for years, and have always walked past and smelled the wonderful smells coming from Jojos...but didn't actually stop to try it until last year. The long line always scared me off in the past. Oh my goodness! I have been missing out! A hot, soft pretzel fresh out of the oven is the way to go. It seriously melted in my mouth! Now I'm counting down the days until my next Shipshewana trip just so I can get a pretzel!

There's not a better pretzel anywhere on this earth. Going back home to IN in a few weeks and we're now planning a trip to Shipshewana for the day--just for the pretzels!
