We went here for my sister's birthday instead of Taste of Thai because of the reviews. Thanks Yelp! My boyfriend loves Thai food now -- possibly more than Chinese (not an easy task). We all shared the chicken satay, tom yum soup, sesame chicken, pad thai, pad see ew, and then finished dinner off with the mango and sticky rice dessert. My boyfriend especially liked the sesame chicken. The only thing I noticed that was off was the duck -- it was a little bland. Service was attentive and nice, and the meal, apart from the duck, was delicious.

Overall it's pretty good. Had the chicken pa nang and pineapple rice w/shrimp. The shrimp was big, plump, and tender. A good meal overall.

Dan Thai has the best chicken Pad Thai that I've ever had. They deliver, which is wonderful, but I've picked up as well. The place is in a strip mall, and it's very well maintained. I'd like to dine in sometime! I've enjoyed the few appetizers I've had as well. My boyfriend is not a fan of Thai food and he really enjoys this place. He likes the duck dishes.

From the moment you walk in, you are immediately in zen like mood. The sounds of water trickling softly combined with the score from Kung Fu Panda almost wants to make you meditate. In fact, the ambiance forced me to sit with perfect posture and bring out my calm polite voice. The food. From start to finish this is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to. Ever. I was kind of mad that I have been wasting my time at Thai Thanee and Thai Garden all these years. But then the anger was quickly swept away by the zen version of a boys to men song. Can't get mad here. The fried tofu: perfect with the sweet peanut sauce. Crunchy on the outside and airy on the inside. $4 for a portion to feed 3 people easily. The tom yum soup (tofu): we ordered it medium. Our mistake. You are not to blame Dan Thai. It was very good but the spice took away from the lemon grass. Next time we will not mess with it and get it as is. Lesson learned. $4 for a small which 2 of us couldn't finish. The larb: never had it before but I should have. Ground chicken tossed in lemon or lime with onions. A lot of food here. A lot of chicken. Wasn't sure what to do with the lettuce on the side so I rolled up some larb on there. Amazing. $8 for a plate which can feed 4 people easily. The sesame chicken: Yes. This is a dish that can easily go the wrong way but not here. Crunchy. Crunchy like Korean chicken wings. Sweet. Ordered it medium. Next time I will get hot. This was the best sesame chicken I have ever had in my life. And my ass has gone to a lot of $5 lunch special spots in my life. This is the real deal. Leaves a slight tacky feeling to your teeth for a few seconds and melts away cleanly. $9 for one dish which could have served 4 people. There isn't a single bad thing I can say about this place. I am a fairly negative nancy usually but I feel great leaving here. I think I will just lay here and smile for a while. Have a beautiful day. ***UPDATE*** the zen mood does not apply to lunch pick up. However, they did not disappoint. Although the lunch specials were lacking in quantity and cost, they made up for it in quality. I have to keep reminding myself that's it is Thai, not Chinese take-Out.

WARNING: medium spice = hot as hell . I ordered duck basil fried rice and red Thai curry chicken. Both dishes were fire ! For appetizer, I had the crab wheel-- more like fish wheel. It was so fishy, not just the smell but also the taste. Basil duck fried rice: had a great mix of veggies (green beans, red pepper, carrots, onions, green onions, peas and of course lots of basil). Perfect taste and not overpowered with curry. Highly recommended. Next time, I'll probably try chicken or shrimp basil fried rice. Red Thai curry: be careful how you order. I'm usually not a wuss when it comes to spice. I ordered medium spice and man, I'm sweating balls. It was hot as hell. Unless they made a mistake their medium is like habanero hot. This dish is great! I ordered extra chicken on this dish because it never comes with enough chicken. For $2 more, you get double the chicken to satisfy your chicken head desire!

Dan Thai was pretty good. Definitely not the best Thai food I have tried but none the less it was satisfying. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. When we asked our waitress questions about various dishes on the menu she was really informative. we ended up getting the Pad Si Ew, Red Curry Chicken and Basil beef.

A rather large group of us came here September 6th, 2014. We all ordered different dishes ranging from rices, to curries, to pad Thai, along with appetizers. I was lucky enough to get to try just about everything- each dish was well prepared, flavorful, fresh and yum-tacular! Most served with rice and spiced to order. Portions were large, and our waitress worked with us to make sure we had enough appetizers for all to enjoy. Water, beverages and plates were all well maintained by staff and they even helped us cut and share a homemade cake! At the end, the waitress offered to split the check. She didn't ask- she offered! Great service, great food and it made for a wonderful overall experience. Pricing was reasonable, small location, but intimate with a nice ambiance and private parking area.

Best place for Thai if you're in these burbs. I typically rotate between Beef Pad See Ewe, Chicken/Beef pad thai, and the panang curry. Their pineapple fried rice is really good too. This place is nearly as good as the awesome spots I find in the city... and I'm so particular with the choice of beef that asian restaurants use. These guys use some hearty and flavorful beef; not the generic chewy grainy stuff that is all too easy to find elsewhere. They even have sticky rice with mango that is soooo delish! Always spot on for flavor. My only few things: When they do delivery, they don't include utensils. Their thai iced tea is a lot smaller than I'd like it to be for the price.

We've been customers of Dan Thai for years, birth dine in and delivery. Placed a delivery order last night, and couldn't help but notice how small the portions have gotten. The flavors were still as delicious as always, and service was good, but minus one star for such small quantities. Maybe it's because it was delivery? We'll just dine in from now on.

We found this place on accident and so glad we did, it really is a hidden gem. Right when we walked in we where greeted and sat. The waitress was very sweet and very attentive to us. I was very excited when we got the menus because they had a ton of options for you. To start my order I got the Tofu Tom Yum soup and hands down the best Tom Yum soup I've ever had. They ask you how hot you want your food and since I love spicy I got the extra spicy. The flavor in the soup is amazing and they are not afraid to spice it up for you like some places. When they say spicy they mean it. For dinner I had the Seafood Drunken Noodles, again extra spicy. I am very picky about seafood at certain places but the seafood in this dish was delicious. It tasted fresh and was just so good. The noodles where cooked perfectly and the spice and flavor again where just perfect. I highly recommend this place to Thai food lovers and spicy food lovers. I suggest getting the medium spice if you are not sure about to spicy. I already want to go back and try new things. The waitress always made sure we had beverages and came back to check on us. Pricing is very fair, for the 4 of us including two appetizers the total was about $60.00.

Best Thai food around the place! Went there for a few time and this time we went for lunch and it was less than $9 per person and you get a soup and a ontrade size meal. The meal is big too, so don't let the size fake you.

My new favorite Thai place! Stumbled upon this place on yelp and it has really good rating and review and decided and come try it. The rating and reviews are legit ! The food is amazing ! The servers are very nice and welcoming , I've tried their Kao Soi , basil fried rice and ask their hot and sour noodle soup. The place is a little small and doesn't have a fancy interior but that didn't matter , the food was really food. If you are a Thai food lover like me , give this place a try :) ! It became my go-to Thai place now !

It is decent Thai dishes. It's little sweet taste on everything. Lunch special is friendly price but regular menu is little pricy compare to the taste. I ordered yam woon sen but they didn't use one important ingredients and strong lime flavor.

Thanks to Yelp, I discovered this restaurant when I was experiencing major Thai food cravings. With decent reviews and close to where I was at, my sister and I decided to give this place a try. We were surprised to find there were lots of people in this small restaurant. The interior was dimly lit. We were offered a table by the window and received our menu and water. We ordered our food, and that's when things went a little downhill from there. We waited, and waited, and waited even more. We probably waited around 40 minutes to get our pad thai and a spicy shrimp dish (which I forgot the name). We had ordered Thai iced teas that came out fairly earlier, and I swear, we were nearly through with our drinks and the food still had not come out. We were almost on the verge of just paying for the drinks and leaving because the wait felt unacceptable. We noticed that other tables were experiencing long waits as well. The magic equation is: foodless tables + hungry people + long waits = unhappy people. That's exactly what applied to us. Don't get me wrong, the servers and staff were fairly nice and apologized for the long wait. We were glad that we hadn't come with a larger group because who knows how long THAT would have taken. The food was fine and affordable. The pad thai was our favorite and we actually ordered this dish for take-out on another day. Ordering take-out was a fairly smooth process.

This place is really hidden and unexpected. Delicious stir fry dishes. I asked for spicy and boy I got my wish! Yikes. But in a really good way. So many places are afraid to spice it up...even when I request it. Also, the service was terrific. $33.00 for a beer, large combo appetizer, side of rice for a kid, and 2 huge entrees! Not bad at all! Quiet on a Saturday evening though. I really hope more people go here cause I like this place. Not fancy by any means, but the food was damned good.

Lunchtime visit. Ordered Panang Curry and Tom Yum. Panang was good. You could taste the hint of coconut. The Tom Yum was fantastic! Cilantro based with plenty of flavor. Will return!

I love Thai food and can never find a good place. I was very happy. Delicious hot and sour soup, cucumber appetizer, and chicken and broccoli. A little pricey but the food was very good. Service was good too.

For main course we tried drunken noodles, panang curry and basil fried rice .. All of them were delicious..... Every time I go, I get the basil chicken. I keep meaning to try other things, but I enjoy it so much, I end up ordering it again. I also get the spring rolls without shrimp. The waitress is great. She remembers what I want in my dish and how I like it prepared. Also - try the black hot sauce if you like heat, but be careful, it's home made and really hot!!!

This is my husband and my favorite Thai restaurant. I am giving it four stars though because I feel like the portions are smaller than the last time we ate here. I usually have leftovers. Tonight I left still feeling hungry and I get the same dish every time. Very disappointing on the portions and the high prices for the portion size.

I have tried this place 2 times and it is great! I've been to Thailand many times and it's nice to find a place where they won't hold back on the spice. When you want Thai spicy, you can count on it. We had the food delivered, it was quick and delicious. No complaints at all. Can't wait to have it again!

Checked this place out since we were in the area for lunch on Sunday. It was about 2:00 PM and the plaza that it's in was completely dead. Walked in to find one other table eating. As soon as we sat down we all ordered our Thai Iced Tea/Coffee which is always delicious. Appetizer round of Crab Rangoons followed of course! They were yummy as well.. Now these things are hard to mess up so i'm still waiting for judgment time. Now any Thai joint I go to, I need to try their versions of my favorite Thai dish which is the spicy catfish. As my plate came out, it looked promising. It was a good sized portion and accompanied by a bowl of white rice. Yes! Thank you Dan Thai for meeting my expectations. While not as good as some, definitely worth it for me as it hit the spot. Would've liked it to be a little more saucy for it was just a smidge dry for my taste but great nonetheless. Everyone else I was with seemed pleased as well. If we are around the area this will definitely be an option for myself again. The decor, like any smaller That restaurant around. Home like feel with some sort of marine life. They surprisingly had a small but neat looking salt water aquarium! I love salt water fish mainly because I have no time to take care of them but the colors, vewy pwetty! If you're near, and like Thai food, give it a shot.

I have been coming here for a long time and have yet to be disappointed. This is one of the best Thai Restaurants in the area. I highly recommend their Pad Thai with chicken. Friendly staff, good environment!

Not great, not even good. Ordered the Kao Soi, and the curry sauce was broken! The pot stickers were bland and boring. If you are craving Thai Food, go elsewhere.

We went there on Saturday night after good reviews by a Thai friend. Saturday night was not that busy for such a nice place. The food was very good and tasted like authentic Thai food not the watered down version we see elsewhere . The fried red snapper with Thai sauces was awesome. We will go there again

one of the best thai place around in the area...and i have been to plenty...the food are cooked the way they are supposed to...friendly and attentive staff...the desserts and smoothies; however are not good...plenty of parking, located on a strip mall...decor is outdated but the food makes up for that...cost is also very reasonable

Another rip-off Thai place in the western suburbs. Their crab rangoon is mostly fried dough with a little bit of cream cheese while every Thai place in the city of Chicago is the opposite, very little wrapping but a lot of crab and cream cheese. Instead of straw mushrooms or shiitake mushrooms, which is obviously appropriate for Thai food, they throw the same cheap, wrong-tasting, white button mushrooms you find at Jewel in every dish. Cheapos.

So Dan Thai was pretty good. It's not the best I've had but it is tasty. The fish cakes were as the app were not very good. They were a little chewy and didn't seem freshly made. However the panang had great deep flavor and the spicy catsfish was also delicious enough to stand up to it. It's hard to top the deliciousness of panang. I would say both dishes probably could've used a bit more salt to really knock those dishes socks off. Buy service was friendly, prompt, and dinner was very affordable. Also the dishware was gorgeous!! I did notice that.

This place is absolutely amazing! The food is to die for, and the staff is extremely kind. We have been a few times with friends and without and have never been disappointed. The 5- Star Chicken is cooked to perfection! I highly recommend this place. It may not look like much from the outside, but it truly is a hidden gem!

We were three of us headed there for a late lunch. We had the tom-yum soup with tofu/veggie (small) and spicy, it was really spicy. It was good though but I felt the veggies were a little raw, they could have been boiled and cooked a little more. Then each of us had something different, one person had the red curry with crispy noodles, the curry was really good in my opinion, one another person had the drunken noodles with tofu, that was also good. I had the pad thai with chicken, it was really good. I really liked the entrees. Then we had the Taro custard, which was pudding but it tasted like sweet egg with coconut, too eggy taste for some reason and had the banana in the blanket with lychee ice cream, that was good. I particularly enjoyed the banana in the blanket which is nothing but a piece of banana wrapped with crispy outer shell of flour I guess. The service was really friendly and place had really nice decor.

I've heard good reviews about this place and decided to check it out. We walked in and waited to get seated. It took about 5 minutes for someone to show up and seat us (it was a Tuesday night and the place wasn't too busy). Our waitress didn't show up for another 10 minutes to take our order. We started with appetizer platter followed by seafood plate and chicken pad seew. I was not impressed with food quality and size. Crab ragoons were way too hard instead of crispy and egg rolls were nothing special. Seafood platter had 3 shrimps total (yes, we counted). Pad seew was ok but noodles were a bit over cooked. Plate sizes were small so be prepared to order appetizers before hand as the main dish will not fill you if you are hungry. Gave it a try, won't be going back.

Yum! That's one word to sum it up. I love eating here- so far this is my favorite Thai food place in the area! Great service and the staff are very accommodating. Most love the Pad See Ew with chicken. They also have delicious filling soups if you are in that mood!

Wonderful food. Everyone in my party loved it. I had the curry. Service was exceptional. The ingredients are very fresh, and the prices are reasonable. This is a little gem tucked away in a strip mall. There is a huge aquarium in the center of the room. They do EVERTHING well. However, the washroom was falling apart and a little run down. A place as nice as this deserves to have a washroom that reflects the same level of detail that is evident in everything else. I hope that the owners see this review, because I REALLY LIKE THIS RESTAURANT. Please fix this.

If I am reviewing the food, this would get 4-5 stars easily but the service is pretty bad. We came here with a group of 8 on a Sunday night at around 7 pm and they maybe had 1-2 other tables. We were quickly seated and given water but that is where the good service ended. We ordered some shumai dumplings, Panang Curry and Red Curry. We waited, and waited and waited and then got our appetizers. The dumplings were fantastic, especially the sauce that was served with them. It was another wait for the food and then our dishes kind of staggered out, each one coming a couple of minutes after the other one. The food was pretty amazing. I loved everything about my curry and it was a pretty large portion. I will say that one of the people I was dining with was dissapointed because the restaurant will not allow you to substitute fried rice for steamed rice with your entree. So if you want fried rice, you have to get a whole order which is pretty large. The good news is that the fried rice is the best I have ever tasted. To get the check was probably the longest wait of all of the waiting we had done during our quick dinner. Had the service been better this place could easily be a 5.

Had a craving for Laos food, since I didnt have all the ingredients, I placed a pick up order for papaya salad and sticky rice at Dan Thai. The lady who took my phone order was friendly and was still friendly when I went to pick up the food. Total cost me about $11 with tax. The papaya salad hit the spot, although it wasnt spicy as I had requested. Overall, Id be willing to try other items on their menu.

Great Thai food! I always get either the sesame chicken or chicken pad thai. My go-to carry out. The portions are so big, I usually have enough for lunch the next day. You also HAVE to try the crab rangoon - so good!

Food 3-4 stars, service 1 star. I called a pick up order on Friday and was told 35-40 minutes for fried rice, pad thai and cashew chicken. My wife got there at 40 minutes and had to wait another 20 minutes, which is horrible. If the wait is an hour, tell me an hour, but don't make we wait 20 minutes ipon arrival, FOR ANYTHING! I like the food, but can't stand slow service.

I love the papaya salad, and noodles from here. This must be a family owned busines because they take pride in the cooking and are very gracious. Get the homemade hotsauce for an explosion in your mouth.

I came back and dined in, we had 4 dishes, beef salad, panang curry, pineapple chicken stir fry and beef and broccoli, all were just ok. We also ordered the coconut and mango dessert which was great and the strawberry boba tea which was good. I dont know if id go back again since there are so many other thai restaurants I feel are better for the price. I ordered to go. From what I saw the place was very cute and quaint. I ordered papaya salad and rice, it was good but a little dry. I prefer a lot of juice in my papaya salad. The cashier was nice and friendly. Id come back and try some of the other food. My rating would be 3.5.

What a great little place. If you've graduated from Chinese take out to thai...then this is the place on the far end of schaumburg. Inexpensive and they deliver...even I the bleakest winter!. It's the usual thai flair...I have not had anything disappointing here and have been eating here for a few years regularly. The go to dish is the hot chili. Any fried rice is yummy and of course thai curries. Quiet little place but busy on weekends:)ku

I am back to update my review. I am going to give this place 4 out of 5 stars. The spice level is turning out to be quiet high across their dishes despite requesting for lower spice level.

Food came out microwave hot, had to wait about 5 minutes before we can eat. We ordered tom yum soup (just ok), tofu red curry (greasy), larb chicken (good) and Pad woon sen (just ok). Service was typical of most Thai restaurants. Overall just another suburban Thai place.

2nd time here...1st time on Sunday-noonish. Quiet plenty of seating. Not so friendly feel "8 when u have a greeting without a smile. Tried the papaya salad- a little sour. Requested medium - not hot enough. Sticky rice- fell apart - don't recommend if u like eating by hand. Jasmine rice is overcooked for my liking - mushy. Basil lover dish (medium)- it's descent.l, but a tinge salty. Seems to be out of balance. Speaking of out of balance menu states coconut milk @$3 and side of sticky rice l for $1. Seems I was overcharged for those. Be sure to check your meal costs vs menu. Thanx for the lunch!.

Food is good, but service needs some work. If you dress up or if you are older, maybe you will get more attention or respect. We waited 10 minutes before anyone would seat us. An older couple in their 60s walked in dressed up and they were totally taken care of where my wife an I were ignored. They walked in about the 10 minute mark when we were waiting and someone went up to them immediately when they walked in and wanted to seat them. The older couple had to say to them I think they (we) were here first, so they seated us. The older couple sat in the booth next to us and they were totally attended to. They got their water and drinks right away, their order was taken quickly, and they were done with their meal within 30 minutes. On the other hand, we waited 10 minutes for menus and to take our drink orders. Another 10 minutes for our order to be taken and by the time we were done with our meal (which was the same amount as the older couple - drinks, one appetizer, and two entrees) it has been one hour 15 minutes. Why did they give the older couple more attention, very friendly, and cater to their needs in comparison to them being unfriendly, non-attentive, and slow with my wife and I? Like I said the food is very good, but the service is bad and we didn't have the best experience. I would go back, but maybe we should dress up so that they will give us more attention.

My husband and I are regular at this place...carry out and eat-in. I have also introduced several of my friends here, and we all love it! The atmosphere is casual with homey feel to it...people are friendly except when I ask for more than a couple hot sauce for carry out they give me the looks...we like extra hot sauce on our food! The food is amazing!! We have never been disappointed with the food...it is reasonable and tasty. check it out if you are in the area.

I TRIED - Fresh Spring Rolls (5/10) - Crab Wheel (3/10) - Tom Yum (9/10) - Tom Kha (9/10) - Panang Curry (10/10) - Spicy Combination Seafood (6/10) In college, some friends introduced me to Pad Thai and Pad Seeyou. I fell in love instantly! I then considered myself a Thai expert just because I've had those 2 noodle dishes with each of the 4 meats (beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp). Then one day, on a business trip, I tried Pok Pok in Portland and had the Boar Collar dish they have and instantly realized, I knew jack about Thai! So one day, a buddy and I were wondering what to eat, and I suggested Thai, and Dan Thai just happened to be the place closest to us! The place is in the middle of a strip mall. The location of the strip mall is fairly premium, it's near a big intersection, but I don't think I've ever come into this strip mall my entire life, and I live less than 3 miles from it! The inside is pretty standard to most Thai places I've been to. It has a fairly decent number of tables, and it's usually been quiet when I've gone, which is either later at night or late lunch on the weekends. SPRING ROLLS & CRAB WHEEL Well the fresh spring rolls are like everybody's fresh spring rolls. Nothing unique about these. The Crab Wheels are supposed to be crab in "garlic pepper seasoning fried and served with sweet chili sauce," but that's not what I tasted. It just tasted like 1/3 of an imitation crab roll, breaded and fried. Taste was kinda funky by itself. The sauce was really good and helped, but wasn't anything I'd order again. TOM YUM/KHA I order my Tom Khas and Tom Yums extra spicy. I've had both of these and they are both excellent. Perfect ratio of mushrooms and meat. I consider ginger to be a landmine in Thai soups, but although they are present, I didn't have to be as careful as I had to be in other places. I don't know what it is that I've had at other places, but they have this skin of some vegetable (looks like a green onion) but it feels like a plastic straw that I can't chew. They didn't have that either, so I could peacefully drink my soup. PENANG CURRY With Dan Thai being a random restaurant in a strip mall in Schaumburg, I was expecting that whatever I have here, there'll be tons of other Thai places that are much better. If that is the case, I'm still waiting for a better Penang Curry! LIke the soups, there aren't a lot of "land mines" that I've had at other places. The curry isn't watery like some either, but the consistency is just perfect, like a Cream of Mushroom soup. It's got a perfect peanutty flavor and the heat is also nicely done (even though I'd like a little hotter when I order "extra spicy"). It's a giant bowl too, so be careful if you order with other things. I was stuffed with the appetizer and other entree we got, but the curry was so good, I ended up cleaning out the bowl, and then wanted to die because I was so full. BOTTOM LINE There was one restaurant out in Wilmette (I think) that had an better Tom Kha, but their Penang was just ok. I think, so far, if I ever had a craving for Thai, I'm going to Dan Thai for the whole package. Almost perfect Tom Yum/Kha and the best Penang Curry I've ever had. I really want to see if there even is such a thing as a better Penang Curry than Dan Thai. I'm going to go revisit my old college Thai place and see if they can hang...

This is by far the best Thai restaurant I've been to. I've been to other Thai restaurants and was expecting them all to be the same and the results being pretty much the same. I've been here a few times now and have been impressed each time. Here's what I've had: - Tom Yum (9/10) - Tom Kha (10/10) - Crab wheel (1/10) - Panang curry (10/10) Tom yum & Kha I've had these both several times at other Thai joints and they've always been just ok. Usually too much meat, too much mushrooms, too much ginger, too much lemon grass or whatever those green spears are that are trying to disguise themselves as green onions, etc. The ratio of everything was great. When I asked for it to be spicy it actually was. I don't know if it's because I'm white and evidently some white people can't handle spicy, but they actually was spicy. It sounds odd, but I like the runny-nose spicy. Crab Wheel This was just plain nasty. The crab wheels, similar to a potstickers, had no flavor; at least desirable. The crab actually tasted rotten. I tried a few hoping maybe just the first one was bad, but it never got better and the sauce was of of no help. So my advice is to keep away. Panang Curry I've had this dish at a few other places and have liked this. Out of the other dishes I've had at Thai Places this has become a dish to try much like a ribeye at a steakhouse. All I can say is this was by far the best. I've tried this at other Asian\Thai places and they've been good, but nothing like this. The consistency of the sauce and peanut flavor are perfect. The chicken is tender and peppers good just right. It is a decent size so don't go crazy on appetizers. This is a must have dish, unless you have peanut allergies...if that's the case I hear the Pad See Ew is good. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. A nice environment and the food is great. You wouldnt think this place is good based on the location, but those are usually the good places to go. I will definitely go again as the food has not yet disappointed me, apart from the crap wheels. It's consistency has made this a place I'll go to again and again.

I've been here a couple times now and everything I've gotten has been exceptionally good and beyond reasonable. You could probably order anything and it will be good. But I highly recommend the five star chicken and this one shrimp and vegetable thing (I can't remember the name)

My bf and I tried out this place recently and we were quite pleased. The service was friendly and overall very polite and courteous. The place was clean with some Thai and cultural decor giving it an authentic feel. Lunch specials ends at 2:30pm and they have a separate menu for that. Though the lunch special menu only have Pad Thai as their noodle selection and the rest are mostly curry dishes. However, the difference between lunch special pricing and regular entrée noodles pricing is just about $.45 cents. Though the lunch special also will give you a free Tom Yum soup which is worth about $3 so it's a good deal. I ordered a Pad Thai Lunch special that came with the Tom Yum soup and the beau ordered a Pad See Ewe off the regular menu. Although his order didn't come with a soup, they gave it to us anyway (maybe it was because I was ordering another dish to go). I also took a takeout menu with the intention of saving it for reference and saw that there was a coupon for free appetizer of Egg Rolls or Crab Rangoon with purchase over $15. The owners gave that to us too so in all we got 2 free soups and 3 free Egg Rolls with our order. They were very nice about it. As for the food, everything tasted good and close to authenticity though not the absolute best Thai dishes I've had so that is why I gave 3 stars (I'm quite the critic when it comes to Thai food since it's my favorite). Though don't let that deter you from giving this place a try because it's definitely a good place. I would definitely come back here again as the food and price was fairly decent. My total bill came out to be about $27 before tip and after tax for 3 entrees. Oh, and the portions they gave us was very generous too, we ate full and had some to take home.

I dont understand how ANYONE can mess up on Spring Rolls. They smelled and looked like they were 2 days old. Peanut sauce was all watery when it should be thick. Even Sriracha sauce doesnt help it go down my stomach. I even opened up the spring rolls to try to find out what was the issue was and found a rotting basil leaf. I offered my dog some and even HE shot it down. That pretty much explains it... Jungle Curry with chicken was more like Chinese takeout Chili Oil mixed with vegetables and chicken. The best part of the curry was the string beans. Next time I'll just stick to Chinese takeout!

I was very disappointed with the first dish I ordered, a mango curry. I had taken it to go and honestly did not eat past the first three bites. Because I dropped $20 on that dinner+dessert, I decided to go back and ask them to replace it with a different dish, which they did. I was very pleased with their customer service and the dish they replaced it with, the Cashew Chicken, was AMAZING. I also have a lot of food allergies and I feel like they were very accommodating with that. I will definitely be going back next time I am in the area.

Wow! I mean that in the most negative way possible. You couldn't pay me to try Dan Thai again. My sister and her fiancé ordered from here for the first time over the weekend. After raving about the quality of the food to me, the three of us ordered from here tonight. I decided on a crab wheel appetizer and a shrimp dish with garlic sauce. My sister chose the basil chicken and her fiancé went with the five spice chicken. My sister placed the order on the phone. I was sitting next to her when she did so. She also ordered 'one order of two spring rolls'. Her fiancé picked up the order 35 minutes later (we were quoted 30 to 45 minutes) and he drove the three minutes back to the house. We immediately opened everything up and the three containers of rice were each half full, the $11 shrimp dish had five small sized shrimp, there were two orders of two spring rolls aka four spring rolls instead of two rolls and my crab wheels were cold, dripping with grease and disgusting. I was hungry, so I ate my five shrimp, veggies and rice. I tossed the crab wheels in the trash. The basil chicken and five star chicken were fine. My sister ate one of the spring rolls only to find one shrimp inside. My sister asked her fiancé for the receipt. When she looked at it, she found that we had spent $47.84 on the items listed above. We were quite shocked. She called (I'm still sitting here by the way) and asked for a manager. The owner was cooking, but the woman who answered the phone indicated that she could help. After explaining the disappointing experience, the woman on the phone said she was sorry. My sister asked for a refund on at least the extra $5 order of spring rolls that were not requested. That request was shot down. She offered to give the spring rolls back to them. Still declined. My sister asked why she took the call if she couldn't help make the situation right and asked to talk with the owner (the brother). The woman started to scream at her on the phone! Yelling over my sister to say that she doesn't know what she wants her to do. My sister asked for some sort of resolution to make this right since her fiancé never received an itemized receipt, the order was wrong, some of the food was cold and the shrimp was just lacking. After arguing with her about the number of spring rolls and saying that the fiancé signed for the order, the woman hung up. Seriously...she actually hung up! My sister was annoyed but not disrespectful. She didn't curse or say what she was really thinking about the inadequate customer service. Bottom line, I can say what I think here. Dan Thai, I am embarrassed for you. You should have done something, anything, to evoke the image of some sort of customer service. You may have four stars, but you will never be worthy of more than the one that I am forced to give you in my book. The customer is always right. And even if they aren't, you don't scream in response to a simple request. She didn't ask for anything unreasonable. And your actions spoke even louder than your shrill screaming.

Was driving down Schaumburg Road on Saturday night this past weekend. Pulled over to place a take out order with a local joint. Pulled into the parking lot of Dan Thai, not even knowing they were there..... ...I wish I had never pulled over that night. We never noticed DT was here. I have lived down the street for years and had never really seen it. I even fill up at BP in their ajoining parking lot regularly. Looked them up on Yelp and saw they had 4 stars. Good enough for me, let's take a look at the menu and see what they have. My fiance and I glanced over the online menu and found two dishes that both sounded great for each of us. Me: I love Basil and they have a "Basil Lovers" Chicken. Sold. And after reading the description of the Five Star chicken, my fiance was game. We also decided to get an order of their Pot Stickers. We placed an order from their parking lot because it didn't really look like the kind of place you can walk in and order take out and sit any wait without interrupting people dining in the restaurant. They told us about a 30 minute wait for the food, so we went home and did a few things at the house while the food was being cooked and off he went to pick up, what I was HOPING was going to be a great meal! He brought home our dinner. The Basil Chicken was excellent, the Five Star Chicken was also a crowd pleaser. The pot stickers were over cooked but b/c the main dishes were so yummy, we didn't really care. The white rice that accompanied our dishes, were in small containers that were about 3/4 of the way full. Overall, the meal was good. Good enough that we convinced my sister to come over for dinner three nights later and have it with us. We called & ordered the same two dishes, Basil Chicken and Five Star Chicken for my fiance and myself. My sister looked over their online menu & selected the Garlic Peppered Stir Fried Shrimp & the Crab Wheel App. We decided to give the Spring Rolls a Try. Let me explain how I ordered: A Basil Chicken (mild), a Five Star Chicken, The Garlic Peppered Shrimp, a Crab Wheel appetizer and one order of 2 spring rolls. The woman on the phone told us it was "about 45 minutes or 30 for pick up". I didn't care for the broad window because I don't want cold food. My fiance went to pick up dinner. Came back with Everything we ordered, but two orders of the spring rolls. Why? I don't know. After we eat, grab the receipt so I can review it, and then lets call and discuss. As my sister plated her dinner, she pointed out that the Garlic Shrimp was kinda small considering it was $11. I looked at it, and it was all broccoli and 5 little shrimp. Her crab wheels looked interesting, but they looked really greasy! Ick! She offered me one and because of the way they looked, I wasn't touching them. She also said "is this all the rice we get in this container? There isn't much here." My fiance & I were plating our food and noticed the same issue with our rice. Hardly enough for half a serving of the chicken dish. Each container is probably about 12 oz. There was only about 5-6 oz of rice in each and was in no way packed in like we're use to getting from most restaurants like these. He was happy with his Five Star chicken & my basil chicken was pretty good, just spicier than "mild" as requested. I decided to call and talk to a manager. The woman that originally took our order, answered. She told me that her brother, the owner, was cooking but she asked if she could help me. I explained our issues. The extra spring rolls, the unappetizing crab wheels, the lack of shrimp, the lack of rice and the abundance of spice. I got to mention everything except the spice because when I got to the issue of the extra spring rolls, she turned from sweet little lady on the phone to crazy woman and actually yelled at me. She told me "YOU ORDERED TWO SPRING ROLLS, THAT MEANS TWO ORDERS". I replied and said "No, I said ONE order of TWO spring rolls." She corrected me and said "No one ever specifies how many they want, they just say how many orders, so you ordered two". That was totally unacceptable to me as I explained AGAIN that I only ordered "ONE order of TWO spring rolls" My sister heard me place the order and confirmed that it, in fact, was exactly what I said. She said "Well, I'm sorry, but what do you want me to do?" I suggested that perhaps she could have read me back the order before hanging up the phone to confirm she had the proper order. She said, "Well, I apologized, what else do you want?" I told her that I want my money back for the extra spring rolls. She said no, you ordered them and ate them. I explained that we actually did not touch the second order and if they want them back and the crab wheels, they can send a driver to come get them. I want my money back for these items. She never offered a resolution. She told me if I was unsatisfied, to call back when the owner was available and hung up on me. Perhaps he will contact me after he reads my review.

The food here is fantastic. Best Thai food around. Also, one of the only places that delivers. I live in Streamwood (west of 59) and they deliver to my home regularly. Food is fresh, hot and always provide more than you would expect!

This place is okay. I personally will never come back though, no matter how bad I am craving Thai food. I ordered the basil chicken and a Tom Yum soup to go. The chicken first of all wasn't grounded up, even though it says in their menu ground chicken. It obviously still tastes the same, but I was a little thrown off by it. This was not the deal breaker for my two star rating however. Any ground meat that is not cooked thoroughly carries more bacteria, so in all honesty, I really didn't mind. The deal breaker is how both my dish and soup were incredibly greasy!! very disappointing .. i love the basil chicken sauce with rice, but i didn't mix it like normal because i didn't want to eat all that grease. The Tom Yum soup had a good taste to it, and it was nice and spicy, but it's like they didn't strain it or something. Every mouthful I took, I was spitting out a piece of lemongrass. Now I know that lemongrass is one of the main ingredients, but never in other Thai restaurants did I have to consistently keep taking it out of my mouth!! It was really annoying. I did take out, so I can't comment on their service. The taste is there, they just need to chill out on the oil.

Woo Hoo Finally some good Thai food and close to home so can go eat there or call for delivery So I have been craving some Pad Thai for a couple weeks now but all the places around here had bad reviews, then I saw this place the other day and looked it up and hello good reviews so gonna try it out so went here for lunch before work I didn't see that they don't open till 11:30 for lunch as it was only 11 when I arrived, but the open sign was on and the door was open so I went in and they took care of me really quick as I was the first customer of the day, I ordered some Chicken Pad Thai medium heat I told her, it had a good kick but not too hot just hot enough for me to break out in a sweat but not burn my taste buds these are to share portions I had enough for lunch and dinner with some left over still

I was surprised how good the food was. I ordered catfish and some tofu dish, both were great. The Thai iced coffee was great too. Would defeintly come here again. It was a little pricer than I thought, but I ordered quite a bit of food too.

Had dinner there tonight and our entrees were very good. The miss was the combination plate for the appetizer. It came with pot stickers, crab Rangoon and egg rolls. The egg rolls were very bland and the pot stickers, well, they were like the frozen kind you find at Trader Joe's. Will pass on that next time around. I ordered Pad Suwee (sp) with tofu. Yummy!!!! My hubby ordered cashew chicken and enjoyed his as well. We will go back!

Fantastic food. I ordered for delivery and had a curry dish - it was high quality food and very tasty. I placed the order on Grub Hub - it came very quickly. The delivery guy was very nice, very polite. I'm extremely happy with my experience and would recommend this restaurant to others.

i ate here per the request of my brother. i like thai food, but i'm not an officiando the cuisine. i decided to stick to things i knew. i ordered the cold veggie spring roll, the tofu tom yum, and the drunken tofu noodle. my brother swore these drunken noodles were by far the spiciest noodles he has ever had. he and i both enjoy spicy food, and so i took his word for it when he said he had to take water breaks between bites of this entree. part of me wanted a meal i could enjoy.... but most of me was up for the challenge. due to the fact that i had a crab-tacular three year old son that i felt would have been rude to inflict on other patrons in the restaurant, we got carry out. i can't comment on the decor or cleanliness of the restaurant itself, but it looked nice, and totally not the sort of place i would ever want to take my kid; even if he was in a spectacular mood. my brother said he doesn't like to eat there, because it's the sort of place "the family owns" and for some reason "they watch you eat your meal like a hawk." he said he said he'd rather just take take it home. whatever. food is food. the spring rolls... were..... meh. honestly, they kind of tasted a lot like bean sprouts wrapped in rice paper. there was some fresh basil mixed in there, and some cabbage and carrots, but really... all i could taste were the bean sprouts, which heretofore, i thought really had no distinct taste. i stand corrected. they do.... and if you're curious.... order the veggie spring roll here. you'll know exactly what i mean. the tom yum was super fantastic though. really great. i could have eaten a five gallon drum of it. it was spicy and had a great lime flavor. awesome. the drunken noodles were also really good. they were a little on the greasy side, but they were still so delightful i finished the enormous serving i ordered. my brother, who is a big football player type, wrapped half of his up and put it in the fridge. he was stuffed. i probably was too, but i kept stuffing my face because it tasted good. it was not as spicy as my brother warned, but it had a little heat. good thai, for someone who doesn't eat thai often.

This is my go to thai spot. Took my boss here; he's a foodie and ranks it as one of the best thai spots also. I always get the same thing: Drunken noodles/pad kee mao. The make it with varying degrees of spiciness. The food is very good. Piping hot when it comes out. Be forewarned, I like spicy food, but if you ask for Thai spicy, it's friggen spicy! I like that they put sugar peas in it. The veggies aren't over cooked and still have a crispy snap when you bite into them. They give you a decent amount of meat to go with also. My only complaint was they didn't come around enough to refill water. I've been there quite a few times, and once had to call to the back to have someone get our check. Nonetheless, the food keeps me coming back.

Went to Dan Thai a couple of days ago to try Thai food for the first time. I think I'll be going back to try some other things. I had no idea what to expect. I'd heard of Pad Thai so I tried that. I have had veggie spring rolls at Chinese restaurants so I also tried them. I wasn't expecting cold spring rolls as they are always hot at Chinese restaurants. They were ok. Not sure I'll get them again. Maybe eggrolls next time. The pad thai - that I'll go back for. It came with a variety of hot, and not so hot, sauces. I tried them all but liked the hottest one best. Made me sweat and even made my nose run a little, but it wasn't a nuclear burn. Just a persistent heat. The server was very nice, very helpful and took all the time a Thai food virgin needed. I told my wife about it and now she wants to go so we'll probably be going there Friday. If you pay for everything by credit card like I do, you may want to know that there is a minimum of $15 for credit card and if you want it delivered, there is a $3 delivery charge if you're within 3 miles. Both are according to their website.

I had an very bad experience at this restaurant yesterday. I went to have dinner and we were 3 adults, my wife, friend, a 15 yr old son of my friend and my 21 month old daughter. I was extremely surprised to find they had put an automatic gratuity of 17% on our bill. When I asked, was told they automatically do that for parties of 5 and more. The server told us that this was indeed mentioned in the menu. I asked for the menu and there was no mention of this. They were lying and was very evident. When i confronted the server, she apologized and said it was her mistake to count my 21 month baby as an adult and that the menu was new and hence did not have this mentioned. I would have gladly given a tip of 17% but the way they tried to trick us into paying a gratuity left me agitated. I have never seen a gratuity automatically added to a party of 3 adults and 2 kids. Beware guys and look for this in your bill.

Went by to pick up some lunch. When I got there, waitress was on the phone and while on the phone, asked me what I wanted to order. I was never offered a menu and had to ask for the lunch specials. Then, a couple came in, she held the phone down for 2 seconds to seat the people. But as soon as she walked away from thetable, she was talking on the phone again. Came back to me at the counter and handed the ordering pad to me for me to write down my order. Really?? You can't get off a personal call and do your job and assist your customers. So I left and went out of my way back to Taste of Thai. I won't come back because of the lack of service.

Some places get by saying their food is of authentic cuisine but even fewer places can actually produce those claims. Dan Thai is one of those few places. As a big Thai food eater it is hard to find good thai food outside of Chicago, and being from the suburbs, Chicago just isn't something I'm going to trek to all the time. Dan Thai's curries are amazing and the portions are rather generous! Sad to see BYOB go away, but our server told me that the owner was going to be adding a wine list to the already excellent list of food!

I came here for my Birthday on Monday night. The owners were very accommodating as reservations were made for 14 people, but by the end of the night 20 people showed up. The waiters were more than happy to move tables around so we all could be seated together. Although I have been to this restaurant a number of times, it was a friend who made all the orders ahead of time as well as the accommodations as he eats here at least once a week. It was a pleasant surprise that it was a prefixed dinner as I got to try dishes that I would normally not get, like their papaya salad and their spicy ground meat and shrimp on lettuce wrap....All so very good. I had so many favorite dishes, all prepared hot and very fresh. The last few times I've been here, I ordered the duck in yellow curry sauce with pineapples. It is absolutely one of my favs. The curry has just the right amount of coconut crème and a hint of chillie, combined with chunks of pineapples. All the fusion of flavors exploding in my mouth, made me so excited that I wanted to pee my pants...just kidding. Oh I forgot to mention, their Shrimp Pad Thai is one of the best in the burbs. The shrimp are humongous !!! and oh so succulent. And you also have to try their fist cakes served with cucumber salad for appetizers. The décor is laid back but beautiful. There's intricate wood carvings on the wall and a saltwater aquarium when you first enter the place. I know this was set up to Feng Shui esthetics. The place is moderately small but very clean and the owners are also the waiters, so they are very attentive and know the menu well.

Very good food, good location, eat in or take out. Very friendly people here who will help you if you've never had Thai food. LOVE the hot & sour soup - the finest thing I've ever tasted! They will make it mild, medium or hot for you. There are several types - by far, the favorite is Tom Yum. Awesome! Generous portions and good prices

Too bad, I cant give more than 1 star- if that. I ordered veg red curry noodles and egg rolls. Friendly lady on the phone. When I pick the order and come home, I realize-its rice instead of noodles and 3 egg rolls instead of 4!!! So I called back, and same lady was kind enough to send 4th egg roll and replace rice with noodles. Here is when the horror starts- there is chicken in my red curry, when I clearly indicated on the phone- I am veg, no egg, no meat. ANyways, I don't know how no one else's order has never gotten messed up. Mine did:-(

It seems to be a pretty quiet place, but the service is super-polite and the food is good. Spicy but not too spicy--I had the green curry, which was more like a soup stew than I'm used to, but had a lot of flavor and a bit of spice. I would go again the next time I'm in the mood for Thai.

You'd never guess this Thai restaurant, tucked in the back corner of a strip-mall, would be so popular and delicious. It's popularity stems from word-of-mouth; personally hearing about its splendor from my boss who was born and raised in Thailand. I searched the reviews on Yelp and found few with less than 4 stars. Since my first visit, I've been back two more times just to try a new dish. Once inside Dan Thai, you're greeted with warmth, a slightly scummy fish tank and Buddhist figurines. A young, energetic waitress seats you and takes your order. The communication barrier clearly makes her nervous and she overcompensates with niceness and occasional out-of-place laughter. Try ordering Veggie Spring Rolls, Pad Se-Ew with Tofu and hot tea. The Spring Rolls are actually made with that clear rice paper most restaurants fail to use. Inside a strong basil aroma seeps out, and the only thing that could possibly improve these would be a small helping of mint leaves. The hot tea comes with two espresso-shot sized, cute, teal glasses with a miniature handle your pinky finger would have a hard time fitting inside matching the genie-in-a-bottle tea-pot. When your meal comes, make sure to ask for hot sauce. She brings over a caddy filled with three separate spices. Cayenne seeds in oil, garlic-chili sauce and a spicy powder. The oil will burn your lips off, which I find appealing. The meal is cooked just right with fresh ingredients and slightly crispy tofu nuggets. Other occasions to this restaurant would allow me to also recommend Rama Thai Noodles, Kee Mao Noodle and the Crisp Noodle, but only if you ask that they use wide noodles instead of the skinny egg noodles. The best waitress doesn't work on Mondays, so I'd stay away on this day. The second time we went the waitress forgot the soup and brought my food out ten minutes before the other two people I went with. A little odd, but still a superb meal. If you are looking for a new Thai place in the Schaumburg area, definitely consider Dan Thai.

IN THE GREAT SUBURBAN THAI LUNCH SPECIAL WARS Dan Thai is a major contender. While the lunch special menu contains most of the usual suspects (pad thai, pad khee mao, etc.) they also have a pretty extensive regular menu for authentic dishes like larb and somtum. In particular, they make an excellent green curry and they actually listened to me when I asked them to make it hot. I was sweating! I liked that once they noticed how much water I was drinking that they placed an entire carafe of water on my table so I could extinguish the flames in my mouth at my leisure.

I only tried the Pad thai here and it was great. It was very fresh and the noodles were not too soggy with sauce. Great decor. The fish tank and fountain are a nice touch since I was the only one in the restaurant at the time and had nothing to do but look around. The owner/manager was very friendly. When I crave Thai food this will probably be my first choice in Schaumburg.

I was visiting some friends who lived in the Schaumburg, and we tried this place on a whim. Results -- Four people were all able to get a large amount of food that tasted great for about $10.00. And when I say "a large amount" I mean it. After I was full there was still enough food for me to bring home and have a decent lunch the next day. Given the chance I'd eat here again.

This is authentic Thai food!! Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Do not skip the mangos and sticky rice. It's fantastic!!! The portions are generous and the prices are so reasonable. The owners are so pleasant and they make sure you are completely satisfied. BYOB, as they don't have a liquor license. We did this and it was a lot of fun :) I'm not sure why a previous review remarked against the spiciness because their "hot" spicy is very very very hot. My husband's forehead had beads of sweat!! The food was also not salty AT ALL, and I ordered the sweet and sour chicken stir fry which can sometimes be a little salty at other restaurants. The veggies were fantastic, including the zucchini that was in my meal! The menu features many curries. I don't eat curry, but the four people at my table said it was fantastic. And I can say that it sure smelled good!! I've been to many Thai restaurants in the area, and this one tops the list! We will be making the hour drive again to specifically visit this Thai restaurant.

Dan Thai is middle of the road Thai cuisine. Now having moved from Lisle, land devoid of any decent Thai I should be festive if not joyous at any sort of ok Thai but being closer to actual civilization I was hoping for more from a place that got a pair of 4 star reviews here. "Best Thai restaurant so far in Schaumburg," says one. I hope not, for my sake. We stuck to standard dishes, having gotten a combination appetizer plate and then Ped Se Ewe and Rama Chicken Noodles. The appetizers were very "eh," being under seasoned and very ordinary. The entrees had appeal, the beef in the Pad Se Ewe being very tender and the dish overall not being too salty but still retaining a good soy flavor. The Rama Noodles were a nice combination of rice noodles, chicken and a slightly spicy peanut sauce with broccoli on the side. I can't complain about the dish, I ate and enjoyed it but there was no wow factor to any of it. I don't know, maybe I'm just picky but if Dan Thai is the best Schaumburg can do I might have to look a little further to get my Thai on.

Best Thai restaurant hands down. The soups are outstanding. The shrimp in clay pot is so unique and I can't find it anywhere else. The 5 star chicken is truly 5 stars. My husband loves the traditional basil chicken. The 2 of us will go in and order 3 dishes because we can never narrow down our choices (at least we have some lunch options for the week!). I can't say enough about this place, except for YUMMM!!

This restaurant only serves great food. The workers are very friendly as well. Their pad thai and soups are amazing. Food prices are more than reasonable for the quality and quantity. We are regulars and will always be!

Extra star b/c the folks who run this place are exceedingly gracious and kind, and I do wish I could've rated the food better, but i've definitely had better Thai. Went here for the MIL's birthday as she knows the owners well. She had the whole menu picked out for our group of twelve, and while she selected great items, the food didn't wow me...and to be fair, it didn't wow her either. Started w the gway dee-oh which is basically a beef broth noodle soup with spinach, some veggies and sliced beef. This is a dish that the MIL has perfected and hers is best in Chicagoland, no contest; the gway dee-oh from Dan Thai was heavy handed w star anise, and well, if you've too much of that spice in any dish, it usually doesn't translate well, unless you enjoy eating flower petals or chewing on evergreen trees, but I digress, it wasn't *that* bad, just not my cup of tea. Next up were the apps; egg roll, chicken satay w peanut sauce and crab rangoon...all decent and pretty textbook, nothing really stood out. Then came the entress, and they continued to come, in droves, it was a ton of food. Pad Thai, Pad See Eiw, Panang Nue, Beef and Broccoli, a few Curries and some fried rice. All pretty decent but again, nothing that stood out as absolute quality. The death by chocolate cake ordered from Cheesecake Factory as the dessert, now *that was quality, sinfully decadent would be a monuMENTAL understatement.

This place has good food which is failry priced. I usually get the Basil Fried Rice (spicy) and The kung Pao Chicken (which is not like your usual KPC). Nice people, good food. Nothing fancy, but tasty.

I would like to weigh in because the Thai owners are very nice people and they do a great job. They deserve Schaumburg/Streamwood's support. My wife and I love this place. The spice and balance shows that the chef and owner knows what he is doing. There might be some places in the city that compare, but frankly we think this is the best Thai food in the NW/W suburbs that we have tried. We have enjoyed Thai food all over the West Coast and even Thailand itself. This is good stuff. The place is BYOB so that's nice. Dishes we enjoy, but we always try others as well: Silver Noodles, Curry Rice, Any Curry, Spicy Clams, Fish Cake If the delicious soft mango is in season, try the Mango with Coconut Sticky Rice. They only make it when this specific mango is available.

Been living in the area for 11 years and finally heard from someone that it was not bad. Well I've already been 2x this last month. The food is great, but it depends on what you order. I order the Panang Curry w/ Chicken and both times it has come out wonderful. My friends order the Pad Thai which is awesome too. The Drunken Noodles are really good too. I ordered a Sesame Chicken and it came out cold and stale. But the waitress was sooo polite she took it back with no complaint and took it off my bill. The service is really good. They may not be speedy but they are very polite. It's hard to find good thai food in the burbs so this is the best place we've got. Chicken satay and spring rolls are great too for appetizers. This is my new go-to thai restaurant from now on. Best part is BYOB!!!! Oh yeah, and I just wanted to say the Panang Curry is pretty spicy and so was some other dishes. It definitely was not salty. But I really think everyone's reviews will be different due to how they cook the different dishes. If it's good, it will always be good...if it's crap it will always be crap.

I have frequented many thai restaurants but none as good as this. 7 friends met and had a great meal and great service. The food was authentic, done perfectly, with the option of adding spice if you preferred. Everyone had nothing but positive things to say about their order. On the way home, three of us raved about the place. I must confess that is a rare event in itself.

Majority of time food is good but not consistent........must have more than one chef. Sometimes you get a generous serving to take-out (enough for 2 people) and others the container is only half full (barely enough for 1 person) and it's the same meal and same price! It's a gamble everytime you order. Tom Yum Chicken Soup is overpriced for what you get (very little chicken) compared to Taste of Thai where you get lots of chicken in the soup and it's a dollar less, plus you're not picking out pieces of lemongrass, galanga, lime leaves, etc.everytime you take a bite. Owners are very pleasant and always make you feel welcome and honestly, I would eat here more often if the portions were bigger. Overall, a nice restaurant for a strip mall!

This is not the best Thai place but being behind my house and have reasonable prices, it's not bad. They have a very pretty salt water fish tank as you walk in. The owner talked to us for at least 10 mins on our way out about it, very friendly person to talk to. The inside is nicely decorated as well. Menu has alot of variety and is priced reasonably. I had the Panang beef noodles which was tasty and the beef was good quality. Some Asian places beef tends to be lower quality and on the rubbery side. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Went again on April 16th and tried the chicken basil, which was ground chicken breast, and it was delicious! Also the thai ice tea is really good and under $2!

I order from there at least once a week. The curry portions are HUGE and if you ask for extra, extra spicy, be ready!! The most amazing blends of traditional thai tastes. I moved here from Chicago, and try new restaurants frequently. This is the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Try the Green Curry, but order a couple extra sides of Jasmine rice, I am tellin you the serving is large. The people there now know me and prepare the food exactly like I want it. There delivery is fast and the price is great. I give it 10 stars!

Stopped in for lunch abt a week ago. Really good Thai food in a pleasant, low key atmosphere, served by a charming server at a great value. Try the Tom Kha. It is coconut nirvana. Or at least coconut cold play.

dan thai is by far the best thai spot in our neighborhood. within a 5mile radius there are over 15 thai restaurants to choose from. once you've gone to dan thai though, there's no more searching. eating at this place is like eating in a family's dining room. it's classic thai decor done in a very warm way. it's run by a family, who do everything from host to serve to cook. and i love it. very often, we have the grandma come by and see how we're doing. awww. the food - is so good. our usual order for the hubby and i is crab rangoons, a small bowl of tom yum soup each, an order of shrimp pad thai and beef panang curry. this totals to a low $30-35. the crab rangoons are perfectly crispy on the outside, with the creamy filling that's more on the cream cheese flavor end (which i love). you can order the tom yum soup spicy or mild. i go with mild, and it's still packed with a good amount of heat. get the spicy if you're sick, and you'll be better by dinner's end. the pad thai is always good. it has great flavor, good amount of shrimp, sauce, peanuts and bean sprouts. as a sidenote: we never have to ask for lime either. the panang curry... ahh, my favorite thai dish by far. their curry is so good, great consistency (not too runny, not too thick), and perfectly spiced. the beef is always super tender, while the veggies are nice and crisp. add a thai iced tea to this order, and your meal is complete. SO! if you're wandering around the schaumburg area, and looking for a delicious "home-cooked" meal, please stop by dan thai! p.s. whenever we go, the place is quite empty. maybe only 3 tables filled.... so please don't let this family-owned restaurant fall by the wayside! try it, go back, or order for pick up. :)

This has been the best Thai restaurant so far in Schaumburg. I love Thai food and have been to around 5 in the area and this one is the best so far. Small family owned with ample space, clean and nice aquarium. Gave my 2 year old some free food :)
