This place reminded me of roadhouse grill in california. Same type of atmosphere and they even had peanuts to snack on while waiting for your food. They also served some dinner rolls that were paired up with a cinnamon type butter which tasted absolutely amazing. The food was good and the portions were quite large.

Watch the price on the "ear of corn" they are serving this month. I have no problems with the food or the associates whatsoever. The food is good and the associates are great. Pricing of a side dish was the problem. I could go into a mix of details which would all be confusing. Bottom line is that I ordered one ear of corn as a side dish to my appitizer meal and I was charged $4.00 for it. The waitress tried to explain it, but no matter how she tried, that ear of corn still cost $4. Which I thought was exorbitant. She took the issue to the manager and he knocked off $1.63. I'll still go to TR once a week for the peanuts and protein.

Texas smoked baby back ribs in Rockford? I am skeptical when the my friend recommend the restaurant. I am glad I went. The rib fall off the bone as advertise. However, some part so meat is a bit dryer than others. The green bean is boiled with bacon and onion which is delicious but slight on the salty side. The staff is absolutely fantastic. I guess that is why all wait staff wear "I love my job" T shirt. From time to time the staff break out Texas two step in the middle of restaurant which is interesting. I will be back to try the prime rib..... p.s. This is a chain store.

Very loud; music kept being cranked up to the point where you can't carry a conversation at a booth. Seems to be run by kids, so perhaps that is why. Server asked if I wanted lemon in my ice tea and despite an affirmative and a reminder with each of five refills, couldn't manage to find a lemon. Asked for medium rare with $2.29 of their onions on top and got medium well with mushrooms. When brought to the attention of the server her response was "sorry, we are really busy." Paid for a side of their "fresh brocolli" and got obviously frozen brocolli that was cold. When noted to the server, "sorry, we are really busy." Good prices for chain restaurant food, but noise and the "could care less" attitude of the server won't get me back.

I went here for my birthday. The hosts up front were pretty rude. The waitress was really nice and very attentive. I had the Jamaican Cowboy margarita and it was AMAZING! I also has a lime margarita that was really good too. I just ate a Caesar salad but that was good too. Only been there once but I liked it.

Enjoy this resturant. Chili is one of my favorite treats to order when I go out to places and this has some pretty good Chili. Service is typical of a big chain. Parking lot sucks, not a lot of parking and crowded. Place fills up fast though since its the only Texas Road house for like 30 miles easy. They have a good selection of tex-mex food on their menu.

Took my boyfriend here for lunch after having such a good meal at the DeKalb establishment. It was like night and day. My steak tasted as it had been cooked a week ago and then reheated in the microwave. I ordered it medium and there was barely any pink. My mashed potatoes were under seasoned and cold. The green beans were really good though. My boyfriend had the fried catfish which he was disappointed in. He said half was very tender but the other half was mushy like it had been frozen and then reheated. Then the light bulb went out over our booth half way through which left us eating lunch in the dark with no one coming over to fix it. Overall, we probably will not be going there again. At least not in Rockford.

I usually have a decent experience at Texas Roadhouses. However, this one in particular was pretty gross. The service was ok. I can't tell if any of them were sincere. When I walked in there were about 5 girls at the desk. They all turned to greet me and I said "table for 1 please", and all of their faces looked taken aback. I am away on business every week so I am used to dining alone, and I ignore all those looks that I get and suddenly their respect for me hits the floor. The hostess seats me at one of those high tables at the bar that I can barely climb onto. I asked for a booth and the hostess hesitates and mumbles, "ya, I guess you can". I didn't care too much at that point. I asked for a cup of hot tea and when it came the water smelled of really strong metallic and tasted really metallic and left my tongue feeling really weird and I didn't feel safe to continue drinking it. The waitress ended up giving me another cup and then taking it off my bill, so that was great of her. I did notice tho that my creamers were all sticky with some pinkish residue. Strawberry jam or something , which was gross, but I used the creamers anyways because I didn't want to complain about it just after the tea incident. Then the two forks that they have wrapped in the cloth napkin were completely filthy and cloudy with some food residue. I asked for another set of silverware after I showed the forks to her. She came back with the exact same forks, except the heads of the forks had been run through cold water. I know because the handles were warm and the heads were freezing cold and they residue was still on them but you can tell it was wiped off. Again I didn't want to complain since I had no proof and didn't want the spitting in my food next. So I did my best to clean it off myself using the hot water she gave me earlier. My food came and I had orderd a baked potato. The potato was undercooked and almost raw. It was hard to eat. The steak was ok. The menus are placed at the table for easy access, but they are filthy and sticky. I don't understand why restaurant don't ever clean the menus. Do they think that just because they are laminated that means that the menus stay clean and protected and it's ok for them to be sticky? If they are too lazy to clean them off then just shove them all in the dish washer then. I'm starting to believe that they use the peanut shells on the floor is a way to cover up their disgustingness making customers believe it was intentional. Who does that? That is just gross and nasty. Poor servers are forced to wear those "I love my job" t-shirt uniforms. I wonder if they have a choice to wear them or not.

Not very good. Wilted lettuce in my salad, luke warm chili, and the pulled pork was just okay. Usually Texas Road House runs a pretty tight ship. Not so much at this location. Even the menus needed a good wiping down.

Like others have already stated in their review....we have been to this Texas Roadhouse and have had nary a problem. Just a very consistent place to eat. But like most places that tend to be good, prepare yourselves to wait. 20-30 minutes are an average for our table of 2. But once seated our service has not been short of superb at any time. Food has been hot and our biggest bugaboo, drinks (which we drink alot of beverages), have never been empty. Always a fresh beverage lies in waiting. And if you go away hungry then you only have yourself to blame as free peanuts and rolls with fresh cinnamon butter are aplenty. Others have complained about their menu being the same, I can see where they are coming from....but if your menu is doing gangbusters, why muck up your menu with items that may/may not work. They seem to have a formula for success, I wouldn't mess with it. Look at Steak and Shake, they had a great menu for like 40 years and then a couple years ago they add Hot Dogs and such, its just not who they are and ruined a great dining experience. So in that regards I'd rather keep with the same menu...besides, if you want something else, there are a million other restaurants in the Rockford area..try something new!!

Just horrible experiences left and right. I wish I was Gordon Ramsay just so I could walk in to the kitchen and call all the cooks a bunch of donkeys. Btw, he totally does that if you didn't know. 3 trips, 3 slow services and yes you are busy but it's just painfully slow. The nail in the coffin was the last and final experience. I ordered steak medium rare with a side of their green beans and I can tell you now it's not as awesome as it sounds. Steak... medium-medium well Green Beans... swimming in some sort of nasty oily mess that should never come with any food ever. I explained to our waitress that the steak was over cooked and that I DID NOT want a new one and that I would just eat it, but if she could let the kitchen know they were off. She asked to see it and she says, "no, thats pink in the middle, medium rare." I looked at her completely confused and pointed at her menu that said medium rare was warm red and pink was medium. She then argues that what I got was what they serve as medium rare. After about 5 minutes I'm thinking why in the hell are you arguing with me. Even if I am wrong your job is to walk away not argue with me and insist I am wrong. It came down to me grabbing photos off my phone from cooking websites to show her medium rare and she was still just trying to argue. This lasted until everyone at the table told her she was wrong and started to question why she even brought it up when I didn't want a new one just to inform the cooks they made a mistake. She was snippy with me personally the rest of the evening and it ended with her throwing my check at the person sitting next to me and saying, "Pass this to the jerk in the corner." First off I'm a chef. Second you're an idiot. Third you're not a real restaurant you are a chain that is supposed to offer decent food at a decent price. In all I'll never go back and hope one day they may learn what real food temps are and not just argue with customers who actually know what they are talking about. Glad I can I cook.

Came here with my boyfriend about a week ago, because we were in town for a small family gathering over the weekend. We came in on a Thursday around 4pm, so the place was not too busy. We got seated right away - our server came in a little late to take our drinks, although she did say she was refilling the ice machine so she apologized for her being a little late to come to our table. Food - I just LOVE their bread!! Also, both my boyfriend and I had the porkchops, which was only priced at around $8-10 because of their early dinner special! Talk about a good deal!! We got the side of loaded fries, which were also good, but the cheese looked like it was microwaved. Drinks were good as well! Service - Our server came to check on us often and was quite attentive. A+! Ambiance - I understand that it's ok to have peanut shells on the floor, but you know, it's still a restaurant, and it just looks really dirty - and as a restaurant you don't ever want to have your place come off as dirty, because come on, you do serve food. And that's why there's an empty bucket, right? For the empty shells. Other than having a peanut shell-filled floor, the place gave off a very lively and vibrant feel. Will definitely come again, but to a location closer to home, obviously.

Last review was filtered because I mentioned another steakhouse that's far superior. So no names mentioned in this one. Typical chain steakhouse+throwing peanuts on the floor=Texas Roadhouse. Lame atmosphere, attracts derilicts (note the store behind it) and poorly prepared food. How anyone can overcook a steak is beyond me. (Ordered medium rare got medium well)
now what's really getting the 4 stars is the food and the service from the servers. DEFINITELY 1-2 stars for the hosts up front on a busy weekend night. I've been to Texas Roadhouse numerous times and have always enjoyed the rolls (i'm a fat kid at heart) and i go for their amazing steaks. i have only had ONE bad steak here that was gristled up good but you see i'm still giving it 4 stars because after that, everything else has been superb! If you're in the mood for a steak definitely hit this place up. If you're coming here on a weekend DEFINITELY call ahead to get a spot in line because this place gets PACKED and for good reason.

I like the atmosphere, but thats about where the positives end. I've been here 3 times and have never really had a meal that knocked my socks off. Last night I went with my girlfriend we both had the filet medallions. I am fairly particular about meat, which is why I can't get anything but filet, but these were gross. The 3 medallions were fairly well sized, but I'm afraid that was because they didn't trim off the fat. They were chewy and quite disappointing for a filet. Come to find out they aren't "center cut" which makes a difference i guess, but shouldn't account for them being as bad as they were. On top of that the gravy type sauce on them was super salty. On the plus side, our waiter was very good, and he notified the manager who came over and made things right with our bill. The atmosphere and staff made a difference in a potentially disastrous experience.

Why oh why does the best place for steak in Rockford have to be a chain? Their rib eyes are the best, even more tender then the one I had at Ruth's Chris! And I hate the whole set up of the restaurant, I hate the stupid line dancing, the loud announcements for bdays, bjs, married fucks. It's all bullshit. But the steak is frickin good. I hate the moose head hanging about the entrance, there's no moose in Texas. I know, I know, the owner probably went on some amazing trip to Alaska and killed it. But it's all bullshit. I get the long horn steer head, the snake skins, the armadillo, even the fuckin cowboy boots. But the moose is bullshit. Sorry Texas Roadhouse, I want to hate you, but the steak is fucking good.

This use to be my favorite Restaurant, up until about 6 months ago or so. Use to be able to go in there and get your steak perfectly cooked, but not anymore. The steaks are either under cooked or over cooked. Also the Filet cuts are not quality, seems around half the time you will end up with a Filet that has not been trimmed of fat or is fatty/not center cut!!! So the last straw as this past weekend, Went there with the family and I ordered the 20oz NY Strip, and the Wife ordered Filet. Both steaks were over cooked, I told the wait staff, and the Owner came over. The exchange did get heated at times, but in the end the Owner did the right thing, but he barely wants to admit there is a problem. I basically told him, do you need "Gorden Ramsay" to come in here and handle your business? Because quality is not what it use to be. 3 out of the last 5 times I have visited my steaks have been cooked either under or over what I requested. And look at the Vegetables, I pulled out the broccoli which you would expect to be tasty and crisp, it was Limp as a noodle and nasty looking, I asked him "is this what you call quality or not a problem?" he agreed that was not good and so he seen at this one table there were many issues, that ruined the meal. I refused my steak, and instead asked for the ribs, but guess what? Those were dry as well. He did comp the dinner, but it was ruined by then and so who cares about that, I went out to eat and have good time not get subpar food and discounts on the meal. So My once favorite Restaurant is no more, something happened in that kitchen, someone in there has either lost their passion or just can't cook bottom line, and the person expediting, needs to get their eye's checked to let out limp vegetables and over cooked steaks like that.

My family has been here several times and have never had a bad experience. I think the only negative I can think of is the least time we were there we were waiting on my brother and sister-in-law and rather than seat us they told us to tellt hem when bro and sis had arrived and THEN they started the wait for the table. I'm not a huge fan of the peanuts myself (I'm going there for Ribs, not nuts!) but to each his own. The cinnamon butter and rolls are fantastic, which is probably why I don't eat the nuts. I pig out on rolls. :) I usually get a combo with Ribs and another meat. Each time I have not been disappointed. Fall off the bone, finger licking good ribs. I have gotten pulled pork and bbq chicken as the combo too. Each time I have taken the other side of meat home because I was stuffed. I've not tried the steak but other family have and pronounced it juicy and delicious. I have gotten the fries, the smothered fries, and the baked potato. Each were cooked to perfection. With the combos you get a second side and I have gotten salad (yum, but it had boiled egg on it and I hate yolk so definitely will remember that next time - eww!) and the baked beans (also yum). Can't comment on dessert as I've always been too stuffed to try it. The staff has always been nice to us when we go and the service has been timely (not quick, but certainly not slow).

Pros ----------- Great rolls with honey butter Service is always A+ Free rolls and peanuts Great prices Food is delicious Cons ----------- Same menu for 3 years Same menu as when it opened Same menu (Will they ever change it???) This would have been a 5 Star rating, but the menu hasn't changed since they opened a few years ago. We still love it, but often choose other places to eat so we can get something else.

I've been a longtime fan of Texas Roadhouse in Rockford. We usually come during the week because the wait times can get pretty long on the weekends, but with call-ahead seating you can usually get in with a tolerable wait time. The rolls that they give you to start are amazing! They are fresh and hot and come with a delectable cinnamon butter spread. We always order an Onion Blossom as an appetizer because it's so delicious and has never done us wrong. I've had their burgers and their steaks and both are pretty darn good. Especially for the price. Always cooked exactly like I ordered and tastes delightful. Service is consistently good and the waitstaff is all friendly and competent. We've been coming for years and will continue to do so!

I visit this restaurants in many and different locations. Usually they are 4 or 4.5 starts. This time I have to give them only 1 star. My steak as well as my wife stake was NOT good. It's needs to be (at least) "very good" but this time it was less than good. Less than "ok". And also the potatoes doesn't meet our expectations. Again - this chain is one of our favorites but this time we didn't likes it at all

I don't get the appeal of this place. My prego friend was jonesing for their rolls, so we obliged (pro tip: never cross a pregnant woman). As soon as we walked in the door, I immediately caught a whiff of the distinct smell of ammonia, like a shady meat counter at an "international" grocery. I'm pretty sure steak isn't supposed to smell like that, so I made a mental note to skip on the beef. I ended up getting the chicken fingers, which I thought were just so so. By the time our food got to the table, I was full of salad and endless rolls, which were just run of the mill, nothing special white bread rolls. I will say that I was impressed by the prices, especially for the ammonia smelling steaks. If that's your thing, I'd say knock your socks off. As for me, I think I'll take a pass on the whole thing next time.

Meh. There seemed to be a bizarre secret ingredient in the blossom sauce and in the white gravy that gave both a strange and unpleasant flavor. Road Kill special was nothing more than a deconstructed burger. The roll butter was great and the server was fantastic. Probably won't go back if all I truly enjoyed was some butter and quick refills.

It's pretty good steak. I remember there was one time where my steak was medium well instead of medium (which I like), but I guess I'm just being nit-picky. That steak was kind of bland too. But it's usually cooked correctly and tasty. The waitresses/waiters always bring the food within a reasonable amount of time and are very nice. There's TVs broadcasting sports in HD, which is nice if you're a big sports fan. The atmosphere is pretty neat. There are peanuts at every table. The rolls with the cinnamon butter are really good. I like ordering the cheese fries with the bacon bits as an appetizer; they're delicious! Also, they do fun birthday songs for kids and give a big "Yee-haw!" which I guess is cool for the little kids. All in all, cool place. Good food. There is usually no complications or problems. Bring your family!

Eh ... Wasn't terrible, but wasn't amazing either. Had to wait a little but that wasn't bad at all for a Saturday night dinner shift, and we had a group of 7 basically. Seating us was odd, as they had us down for 7 and then proceeded to take us to a table they were cramming 5 chairs around but was meant for 4. So as we all kind of stood there, even as our group felt like we weren't having any trouble counting how many chairs were in front of us ... There seemed to be some confusion on the faces of the staff why we weren't sitting down right away. By some miracle there was a group leaving right next to the smaller tables and we were able to grab their spot. All around that was just odd. Somewhat picky here maybe, however they offered up sweet tea along the other choices and who doesn't love some sweet tea?!? Anyways, it wasn't "sweet" buuuut I suppose that's up for debate from person to person. Also picky, but I guess I'll just ask why restaurants want to still offer up bread/rolls with meals ... But really when it comes down to it they want to offer up 2 pieces of bread/rolls or maybe 3, regardless of party size. Now that I've typed that, it sounds more personal bread hoarding than maybe their fault and honestly I don't need the calories so this is mentioned in case you really expect a ton of bread/rolls ... Don't. Food was all ok though, no big problems there. And A+ on the amount of peanuts available at the table, so there was that. Really nothing terrible here, I'm sure we will all venture back in to this place sometime if not this one most likely another location!

Steak... medium-medium well Green Beans... swimming in some sort of nasty oily mess that should never come with any food ever.

Their food is great. They have a nice sized menu, and the inside is very nice. However I dislike the loud country music. Like I really hate country music.

It's not every day you can throw peanut shells on the floor - unless you go to Texas Roadhouse every day. I was recently at Texas Roadhouse on a trip to Rockford. We were there on a Thursday night, and there was a pretty descent crowd. We were seated right away at a booth and given a bucket of peanuts and warm rolls with a cinnamon butter. The rolls and butter were absolutely amazing! And they're all-you-can-eat, so be sure to leave room for whatever you ordered. For cocktails, we ordered the drink special, which was margaritas for $3.50 each. I thought that was a pretty good deal. For an appetizer, we got a combo sampler with Tater Skins, Boneless Buffalo Wings and Rattlesnake Bites, which were basically jalapeno poppers. All were pretty good, but I did find everything to be a little greasy and heavy for my tastes. Same went for the entree I ordered, which was the Mushroom Jack Chicken sandwich. It had chicken breast topped with sautéed mushrooms and jack cheese served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and onion. It also came with fries. The sandwich was good but was a little greasy and made me feel ginormous after eating just half of it. While I would normally give Texas Roadhouse three stars based on the food, I'm giving it four stars because we had pretty much the nicest and most friendly waitress ever. I don't know if it's just because we're from the city where people aren't as friendly, but the girl we had was so chipper and delightful. She was excellent. Texas Roadhouse is a pretty cool restaurant. The food is a little heavy, but it's a steakhouse, so what do you expect? The service is second to none.

now what's really getting the 4 stars is the food and the service from the servers.

Get the 8oz Filet!

This was a second visit for myself to a Texas Roadhouse (first to this particular location) and it was the first visit for several of my family members I dined with. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent -- we all left happy & stuffed. Can't wait to go back!

1.) Call ahead seating works well; 2.) food was delicious; 3.) prices were typical; 4.) our server [Dawn] was fantastic; 5.) ambience was fitting. Definitely a place we'll go again b

I LOVE THEIR STEAKSAUCE; Great mini blooming onion, Kabbob is good, except don't get it over rice.. That was just weird; Ribeyes are the best!!! ROLLS OMG... to die for with that butter oMg! I lOVE it! SOO MUCH! Hard to find parking though!! THEY GET VERY BUSY SO CALL AHEAD

Make sure you call ahead because they are full at 5 o'clock The staff is well-trained and great the food is prepared the way you wanted can't ask for anything more the atmosphere is wonderful and they are kid friendly

Excellent service. Excellent food. Did I mention this place is excellent? Rare to find a chain resturaunt that consistently has great prime rib and rib eye. Must be the in house butcher. What ever it is, this place has great QC.
(5)Dave S.
Horrible service mange wait staff. Ha d to bum bread off of other customers. Why does a person have to ask 3 times for bread? Who's running this joint. Go get an education! Will not be coming back.
