First time. Party of 7. Salads, burgers and Rueben sandwich all very good. Rueben was great matter of fact. Don't change the quality of the ingredients on this one. Alfredo dish was average without much taste. Need to look into changing the recipe on that one. Clean and excellent service. I felt like I was in Chicago at a nice restaurant. Will come back for Ruebens and burgers.

Nice place. Menu isn't huge but what they have is good, unique and reasonable portions, thank god. Prices are okay, on the higher end but service was great.

Hubby and I went for lunch. I was incredibly surprised how good the food is. The atmosphere is also great. Will go back for sure.

This is my families go to place in Rockford now! Currently the best food in Rockford. I say this as I'm always the person who is lucky enough to have something wrong with my meal when we choose to eat out. No issues at all at toc. I liked it so much I went two days in a row with family and friends when they came to visit. If you are looking for a great Reuben this is the place to go. It was so great and the fries... Omg.. Perfect. My 5 year old picky eater also approved of the burger and fries. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great. We can't wait to go back! Ooh and try the fried bacon and chocolate, it's seriously good.

I recently went for lunch with a friend, we got there shortly after they opened on a Sunday and sat outside. Their patio is not very large, maybe room for 6 or so tables. This may make it difficult to obtain seating out there on a gorgeous day, but the limited seating also makes for a quieter dining experience. But, truth be told, we were probably the only people there until 12, and the place didn't really start to pick up from the lunch crowd until around 12:30. The food was good. I had the lobster tacos, which were a special offering that day. They came with the same set up as the fish tacos on the menu- flour tortillas, pico de gallo, avocado slices, cabbage slaw, spicy remoulade sauce of some sort, beer battered lobster. These sounded delicious, but I was leery to commit- so often this cooking method with seafood can end up dry and flavorless. The lobster was moist, flavorful, and not overpowered by the batter or any other ingrediant in the taco. It was served with chips and salsa, the salsa tasted homemade which was a plus. My friend had the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. She said it was good and that she would definitely get it again. The fries were unlike any fries I've seen at other places. They looked like a mix between the coating on an Arby's curly fry with a thicker steak fry. This is not a bad thing, in fact, I didn't know how I'd feel about them, but they were pretty delicious. Our server was delightful, I feel bad that I don't remember her name, but she was very nice. She seemed to plan her frequency of visits to our table accordingly, we were obviously there catching up and she didn't hover over us. She gave us some space which was appreciated, but we didn't feel like we had been forgotten about. All in all, I would definitely go back to check out some of the other things on the menu that sounded good.

Dined here for the first time last night. Was told there was a 20-30 minute wait so we went to the bar to get drinks. Our buzzer went off 10 minutes later. Bartender was nice and helpful in regards to their cocktail menu. We were seated in a roomy and comfortable booth. Our waitress was very cheerful and pleasant. She asked if we were interested in one of the specialty drinks, the Carmel apple martini. She also went over the entree specials that night in very good detail. We ordered and enjoyed the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer, though I would have preferred more cheese and aioli over the top. I enjoyed their peach mojito and my husband had the strawberry mule. For my entree I ordered the Salmon Oscar which was AMAZING! It came with your choice of a soup or a salad. I chose to upgrade my soup to the baked French onion soup for $2. The soup was fabulous! All in all we had a very very nice dinner here and would definitely come back!

I highly recommend this place!! The food and service is excellent. I have been here many times you can always count on a great meal.

French onion soup was fantastic. Thank good I only had a half rack of ribs as they were so tough the steal knife had trouble getting them apart and in no way did they fall off the bone as indicated in their menu. Very expensive mistake ordering the ribs. My wife has a chicken dish and it was dry and bland. Service was excellent. Beer was cold. Would not go there for food.

I always make the mistake of visiting a restaurant after it first opens. Came here during lunch a few weeks ago. Got the chicken & waffles. Chicken was super dry & over done. Hardly gave you any syrup for the meal and had to ask for more. Waitress took long to bring our bill. I would possibly try again in a few months but I wouldn't get the chicken and waffles. On a plus side... You can turn any burger into a chicken sandwich. I will probably try that on a trip in the future.

Tavern on Clark is our go-to restaurant in our home town of Rockford. Extremely tasty food. Reasonable prices. Large menu. Fast out of the kitchen. Lots of gluten-free options. Add to this, very courteous, friendly, professional service by their wait staff and TOC is the best venue for weekly, monthly or special occasion dining. Hats off to Kirsten G., our server on a number of occasions and most recently this evening. Smiling, genuinely caring, knowledgeable and attentive, Kirsten edges out the several other great and deserving servers who have taken care of us over the past 4-5 months we have been visiting TOC. See you all again soon!

Excellent service, inviting and charming atmosphere, fantastic food! Tried the Sea Scallop appetizer, yum!! Seafood bisque soup-unbelievable Pork Chop Oscar (lump crab on top) -so delicious! My husband had the Rib Eye-excellent!!! Loved our experience and our dinner, will be back....often!

Stopped by TOC after driving 13 hours from NY. Seated immediately and to our surprise our waitress was Kirsten (she was mentioned by other reviewers as a great waitress). She was as very attentive and pleasant. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered a chicken sandwich. Both were good but it is the fries that are worth coming for. They are delicious.

We went for a ladies lunch for our office, and the food was amazing! I split the Havana sandwich and the Grilled Cheese Millennium with a co-worker, and I can't decide which I like better...they were both SOOOO yummy. I also tasted another co-worker's tortilla chips which were excellent. The french fries were a little different and the desserts we all shared were not my favorite, but the main dishes were so good that the rest didn't matter. Our server, Kirsten, was so sweet and professional and eager to offer suggestions for the "bests" on the menu. She was spot on!

We recently had our rehearsal dinner here. There were 44 people that attended the dinner. The menu choices we picked were tavern steak, salmon Oscar, California stuffed chicken, and apple glazed pork chop. 20 people ordered steak, 11 ordered salmon, 3 ordered pork chop, and 10 ordered chicken. Every single entree was cooked perfectly. Everyone steaks was cooked how they like it and the sauce on it was amazing!! The waitresses were so helpful and friendly and Sam was great to work with putting the menu together!! Thank you, Tavern on Clark!!

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and there were quite a few people in the bar area and eating. The decor was well done with a clubby casual vibe and some local photos on the walls. The menu is sparse but that's not necessarily a bad thing as they can focus on what they do offer. Prices seemed a bit high for this area. Food was good, we had the boneless wings appetizer, turkey sandwich and battered potatoes (not fries in the traditional sense), and the presentation was great adding to the enjoyment. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Can't ask for much more than that.

Mushroom risotto was undercooked/crunchy and like glue. Good flavor and has potential, but no quality control there. NOT worth $11, so I sent it back. Fried shrimp and calamari were ok, but nothing outstanding enough to write home about. Clam chowder was tasty. I had the New York, medium rare. It was fine. Probably on par with Outback or Lone Star. Garlic mashed potatoes were not seasoned and a little gluey, but tasted nice after adding salt. Veggies were steamed, unseasoned and plain. My husband had the ribs, and they were actually really good if you like sweet sauces. They were my favorite part of the meal. The waitress forgot to tell us the specials, and I found after asking, that there were other things I would have liked to try. Oh well. All in all, it's a cute little place with decent food. I will probably stop by again sometime to try something else. It has potential.

Great lunch and dinner specials price varies, but reasonable. Mothers Day, Fathers Day awesome steak dinner specials. BBQ sauce phenomenal. Get the prime rib of beef for great meal. Fun family environment. You will not leave hungry or disappointed. It does get busy on weekends so get a drink at the bar and relax while you wait for table. Nice new restaurant. Nice patio and bar.

Food was delicious (I had the Fungi Flatbread and my wife had the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread). The prices were competitive for the market. The service was a bit sub-par, but I'm chalking that up to it having been the first week and needing a bit more time to develop an effective system and staff chemistry/dynamic. The biggest letdown was there were only two kids options, which is not standard for the market. While I believe time should improve the service, the kids menu issue will meed conscious attention to resolve. The atmosphere was pleasant. I look forward to another visit after they've been open a bit longer.

We stopped in at Tavern on Clark the second night they were open to the public to check the place for a possible spot for a rehearsal dinner. They totally changed the atmosphere of the place and made it look great. The food was good and the staff was friendly, a new spot to check out. They have some deep fried bacon that I would love to try. The owner was super nice since we talked to him for about 20 mins about possibly having the rehearsal dinner there.

Very disappointed. Baked French Onion soup had no real flavor. Tavern linguini with shrimp offered 4 shrimp and extremely over cooked pasta. Service was slow.

Loved the bar and drinks we had prior to dinner. Dinner menu had lots of great selections. I enjoyed me salmon salad with warm bacon dressing. I ordered it without almonds, I think she forgot to write that down. It came with almonds and we sent it back. My fiancé liked his entree the chicken good would have liked a bigger portion. . Our only complaint was our waitress. Sadly she delivered our food without noticing we didn't have table settings with a fork or knife. We had to actually go and ask a server near the kitchen which was frustrating because it took awhile with the busy time. Also when we were barely done eating she was already handing us the ck. as soon as we paid she was watching to see when we would leave and "checked"if we needed anything within 5 minutes. Of course we didn't need anything, we had paid. Just a little tacky. It was quite noticeable she wanted to turn our table and get the next person in the booth.. We gave her 20%... Not pleased though with our exit. I would return. Maybe just not in her section again.

Well-presented food in a difficult to find location. Great service. Since I cannot do half-stars on Yelp, I rounded up my rating because I see the potential here. Not much available for those who don't eat meat, but it was mostly better than I expected it to be. Certainly worth a visit if staying in the plethora of nearby hotels and wanting to avoid the horrors of chain establishments; I'd even go as far as saying that it's one of the better places to eat in the few-block-walk hotel area, but I can see a few areas which could be improved.

My office came to Tavern on Clark for a lunch meeting shortly after they opened and have been in love ever since. The food is great, the wait staff went above and beyond and the prices are more than reasonable. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the bar while I was there (boo work!) so I can't say much on that end, but if it's anything like the rest of the establishment, then I'm sure its splendid!

Recommended by another couple. Very pleasant staff and the food is excellent. The scallops were cooked perfectly and came with perfectly cooked rice mixed with asparagus. I had the apple pork chop which was a large thick bone in chop that was cooked to perfection and served with choice of potato and unfortunate frozen veggies. Both of our portions were more than adequate. Noise level was moderate and I highly recommend reservations. Service was excellent.

First trip here. I had crab cakes & French onion soup. Soup was mediocre- I can make better at home... Not enough flavor. Crab cakes were good, but I wouldn't say I'd order them again. The bartender was exhausting to have around while we were trying to eat. Non stop talking (and not even to us, her voice just carried across the bar) while we were trying relax and enjoy our meal... Did not enjoy hearing about her grandpa's bathroom situation while trying to eat... Also heard about how horrible her day had been... Atleast twice. I like the atmosphere and will probably come back to try the michelada & bloody mary. I don't know that id eat here again though. I think abreo or social has a better meal for the money. Now the bartender talking about her boyfriend pooping. :( gross. Can't wait to get out of here. If she was working next time I come in, I would have to leave.

We stopped in this afternoon for lunch. My husband was quite pleased to discover that they had Guinness on draft and I had a delicious glass of moscato Asti. He had a really big perfectly cooked hamburger. I had fish tacos which were very tasty! The service was great. The place felt comfortable, with a nice bar and lots of booths.

My husband and I went here on a date. Loved the atmosphere, service was great (ask to sit in Joe's section), and the food was yummy. I loved the turtle cheesecake we had for dessert. My only suggestion would be to add a dinner roll/s to the steak dinners (but I love bread).

This is our new favorite restaurant! I have been there four times now with a group of four of us each time. Everytime we have gone everyone in the group loved their meal. The french fries are so yummy - not your frozen fries brought in from the food vender, these fries they make in house. The staff has always beef very professional and prompt. Some of the highlights are: The Havana Sandwich, mussles in the white sauce, French onion soup, and the infused Turkey burger. They have a very creative menu and I can't wait to go back and try some more entrees.

Food, music, drink menu, staff and atmosphere are incredible. I have had many fine dining experiences and this one has been exceptional. Thank you for the great service and hospitality and my pallet thanks you as well. :)

came here with my family as a party of 8 for a special occasion on a Tuesday evening. the place was about half full but our service seemed to worsen after our food was served to us. the entire tables drinks were empty and upon waiting to request another round we waited an additional 15 minutes for 4 drinks. upon asking to see the manager the bar manager was sent out to us and was not accommodating what so ever. we ended up cutting the evening short and not enjoying ourselves at all. since this is the second time we've had some sort of issue with the service here we won't be returning. also, in regards to the food aspect the seafood is good as well as the salads and soup but the steak and vegetable sides are mediocre. disappointed to the maximum level. also not a fan of the location next to a strip club.

I went here the week it opened for lunch and was blown away. Great Beer Selection, Amazing wine selection that also includes a cool wine on tap machine that is unlike anything I have ever seen. A friend and I both tried different burgers and they were great! Both of them were huge! They came with a very cool interpretation of fries that complimented them perfectly. I highly recommend this place and I cannot wait to return myself.

I'd give Tavern on Clark more like two and a half stars if I could. The fish tacos are good-my friend always gets them when we go. I had a turkey sandwich which was adequate, I suppose. The scallop appetizer was quite good, even though the scallops were overcooked. My big problem is with the chicken and waffle. They go to all that trouble making a better-than-average waffle, only to ruin the whole dish by serving old, dried out chicken nuggets?????? Those things are frozen and straight from a bag! So sad that they care so little about the quality of that dish. Is it not possible to perhaps serve a nice piece of bone-in fried chicken or a freshly prepared chicken breast? Such a unique menu item, yet they ruin it with either lack of imagination or just laziness! I wouldn't say this place is awful, but as is the case with most restaurants around here, it could be SO much better. I'll end with a comment about the service. In a word, SLOW!
