Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

New to the area so I tried this place because of Yelp and huge disappointment.... Just to keep it short... I ordered sopes and the meat was cold... steak had no flavor and the pork tasted ok...

Great prices and food is great! The carne asada is juicy and not greasy like a lot of places are. I think I've tried everything on their menu and it's all good. Sopes, tacos, gorditas, tortas.....they used to serve huaraches but I don't know why they stopped :-( Their salsas are very good too, I recommend their salsa verde. It's a Taqueria not a restaurant so don't expect fancy decor. But their service is great. You won't find anything better in a 5 mile radius.

Awesome prices and authentic food! Best tacos around. Dollar tacos on Tuesdays! Yummy horchata! Try the pork tacos with pineapple! Yum yum

I am typically careful with my online reviews, because in this day and age, reviews can make it or break it for businesses. This place is average at best. Service is OK and so is the interior. The food is tasteless and made with not quality ingredients. I ordered the quesadilla and the meat was very tough and bland. Even the cheese didn't seem to be right. The only good thing was the tortilla which appeared to be made fresh from masa (corn flour dough). Overall I give this place 2.5 for the price they charge vs the quality you get. Not the best Mexican restaurant in this neighborhood but also not the worst.

This place has the best tacos !!! Handmade tortillas are delicious and very reasonable prices. We are from Wisconsin but this will definitely be our must stop every time we are in Chicago..

The servings of tacos appeared to be pretty small and they didn't give me any salsa with my chips on my take out. there was something wrong with the smell of the onions and they could be more generous with the meat they use whether it is the port or chicken. I don't know there are other places nearby to try next time.

This place is where the Quiznos used to be. Decided to go here on a whim on my way to visit the wife in the hospital. So, I picked up two burritos de carne asada. WOW it was gewd. Chips n salsa were yummy. Of course we went back a second time with the kids to sit down and have a late lunch. Not the same day, but pretty close. Had burrito dinners with arroz y beans (lil spanglish for ya) and it was excellent. Service was nice. Will definitely eat here again... and again.

Not bad, kinda pricey, but the food is pretty good. I give it a 5 out of 10

Love the tacos! My wife and I eat here all the time. Best taco place around.

All i can say it YUM!!! I love the chicken enchilladas with red sause. My fav. I order it every time I go and its never a dissapointment. My whole family loves this place. It is a little pricey but its worth it for one or two times a month.

The missus loves this place. She has to get the enchiladas at least once a week. Their tacos are good too, and the prices aren't that bad. It's a good, clean place, and the service is good.

Not gonna lie, 'Taco Tuesday' drew me in here for lunch, where I was able to get 3 individuals tacos for $1/each. They came with fresh cilantro and chopped onions, as well as a side of beans & rice. While 2 of the 3 tacos were fine, the third (chorizo, I think) was oddly inedible. Maybe it was a bad sausage, but I just couldn't eat what to me tasted like fried gristle. I tried some standalone pieces and they had the texture of shoe leather, so that taco remained virtually untouched. Ecchhhh. The customary chips and salsa were good, as were the two bottled hot sauces (green and red) that came with the meal. Horchata was tasty, overall value was solid. There's TONS of mid-90's crap on the counter, like Ring Pops, Push Pops, Corn Pops, Pop Pops (?). Okay, the last two I made up, but even still, it's surprisingly cluttered for an ordering counter. It seems sorta cute and kitschy, but in all honesty the retro sweets display belongs somewhere else. Not bad, but I've definitely had better.

I went out of my way because of a craving for the chicken burrito. I used to work around the corner. Would come every Friday. It's been over a yr since I've been here. I'm hoping it's just as good! Yup! Still delish!

Great quality in the meat, the Al Pastor gordita was amazing but I did not care much for the tacos. Wide selection of good and reasonable prices, Tuesday they have taco special but only ground beef and chicken.

While I wouldn't recommend sitting by the door on a cold night due to the uncomfortably cold dining area, they have great food and fast service. Owner is always present to ensure quality. Try the beef enchiladas with green salsa..you will not be disappointed.

This place is awesome! Delicious authentic mexican food! I have been eating from here for years so this review is way overdue. The prices are fair and portions are sufficient. I have tried almost everything on the menu and never disappointed! The caldo de res (beef soup/stew) is one of my favorite dishes there it comes with home made fresh tortillas. Yum! The only reason why I did not give them 5 stars is the location. Although cozy it's a bit small if you are looking for a sit down restaurant and on weekends especially it can get crowded. I usually carry out so its a great alternative when in the mood for a "home cooked meal" but on a time crunch. Definitely recommend!!

BEWARE! They have promotions on their website that they do not honor.

This will be my Northlake taco stop from now on. The restaurant was very clean and the service was very friend. They serve a tasty salsa and chips before they even take your order. :) I enjoyed a horchata while waiting a short time for my steak taco dinner to arrive. The tortillas were smaller than my other favorite taco joint in Itasca, but the quality made up for it. I really was satisfied with the entire experience and will be back again soon.

New month, so I'm going to try something new and write this review in Spanglish. Sabes que? Este taqueria es muy delicious. It opened about uno o dos meses ago, and everytime I pass it, hay siempre muchos customers inside. I was like "orale carnal, I need to go to this place to get me some comida so I can cure this pinche hangover, porque trague muchas cervezas last night. Pinche crudo chingadamadre man!" Anyway, like I was saying, the food aqui es muy bueno. Mi cosa preferida is the steak burrito. Pero the tacos are bomb too. I've had the tacos al pastor y lengua. The al pastor here es un poco diferente than most places, porque no es dulce and it's... como se dice? Oh yes, "saucier". Pero it's pretty good anyway. I don't order tongue tacos too often pero they were off da chain. I added some lime y salsa verde y ya se chingo. Speaking of which, las salsas aqui son excelentes. Especially the green hot sauce porque es caliente e hizo que salen mis boogers. No joke. It has some kick to it. Pero I aint no puto, so I ate it all! My only complaint is the gorditas. No son malos pero they aren't great either. Honestly they tasted like some burrito supreme mierda, como algo de mierda de Taco Bell que los pinche gueros cabrones comen. I like gorditas con las cebollas y cilantro solamente. Not all that lettuce, tomato n sour cream bullshiz. Will not order these otra vez. Pero todo es bueno and this place is a nice addition to Northlake. Me volvere.

Been driving past it and it looked like an authentic place so I finally decided to stop in. Glad I did. Was delicious and they make the tortillas fresh right there in front of you. Only thing I would knock them on is the to go service was a little slow so I would definitely call ahead to have it ready when I got there. Would not recommend going with more than 4 people due to the size of the place either.... Food was 1 plus though.

This is a great place its a little small place, but has a great friendly atmosphere and the food is nice and cheap. Their Al Pastor is especially good its a little crispier than usual and you can order it with pineapple for no extra charge.

Best mexican food in the area. I live in Elmwood Park and go out of my way to North and Wolf for this place. The steak is AWESOME. Very good. Would recommend to everyone in the area.

This place has amazing food, from the tacos, steak, enchiladas, burrito etc. The staff is awesome and always friendly.. I love it.

I love this place! I go here like every tues. because they have $1 tacos! The Mexican food here is authentic and delicious! The only negative thing I have experience recently is the newest waitress there is kinda rude... The other two girls were always very nice to me but other than that it won't stop me from eating here.

I'm a huge Taco Tuesday fan. The service is great. The food is great. They have homemade tortillas. Sometimes it would be nice if the TV was lower.
