This is our family favorite. The Salmon terriaki is fresh and pefectly cooked every time. We also like the noodle combinations. Their sushi is also well prepared.

I have tried many sushi bars in the area from Buffalo Grove to Gurnee. I feel like Sushi Thai, especially for the pricing and service you get, offers a great value. They have more than your traditional typical sushi menu beyond 25+ rolls instead of the standard 6-8. I enjoy eating here knowing I can try a new speciality roll each time I come and not feel like "O I have already had that" I feel the sushi is average to above average in freshness. The only knock I give is sometimes the rolls may look rushed and not as clean and tightly packed, which directly makes it hassle to eat. This has only happened to me one out of several occasions.

I believe this is the best sushi restaurant in Libertyville. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff members are courteous. My service has always been good. What matters is the food, and what I have had has always been excellent. The pad-thai was well composed and the sushi was above par as well. The roles are a good portion size for the price. I also enjoyed the selection of import beers.

What a nice surprise! Being kind of a sushi snob from the big bad city, had always been reluctant to try them out simply because of the name...what are they? Japanese or Thai? Well finally took the plunge and boy am I sorry I didn't do this a couple of years ago. (Please note this is a qualified 4-stars rating...they had no kids menu. What restaurant up in the 'burbs with familes doesn't have a kids menu??) First, the decor was reminiscent of many local places the wife and I have been down in Lincoln Park...modern but cozy. Second, the service was decent given how busy they were. Then finally, the food was surprising good. The wife had a curry dish and I had sushi/sashimi a la carte (my way of testing if they're any good). The curry was excellent and the sushi was decent sized and fairly fresh...not great like Matsuya or Oysy but up near the frozen tundra, it's really not bad! Oh, and the sushi was only $1.79 /piece. That's pretty cheap even for the area. We will definitely go back for more.

I wish I could leave this place less than one star. Me and the missus decided to have delivery and since the reviews were positive for this place, we checked it out. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID! We got the Teriyaki chicken, Chicken Thai Pecan Basil, an order of crab rangoon, and the spider roll. The order took 20 minutes longer than specified through GrubHub for delivery. The food was cold upon arrival but was expected since the delivery was so late. The food did look good from in the packaging but was really terrible. Everything was bland with no flavor. A Lean Cuisine teriyaki chicken had more flavor than this did and I could have got that for $2 and been ready in 3 minutes. She was only able to make it through a couple bites before being tired of it. The Thai Pecan was labeled as spicy but was exceptionally tame. I literally mean this had no spice, period. Again, this was microwave meal quality at best. The chicken was still pink and undercooked, the vegetables were raw, and fortunately it was such a small portion that I didn't feel bad about throwing it away. The maki roll didn't make it past the tongue for either of us and almost all the pieces were slathered in some disgusting sauce. The crab rangoon looked fantastic but again, had no taste. It's really hard to mess up crab rangoon. Mind you, this cost us $60 for the two orders, the roll, and the appetizer. I wish I could go back and get Panda Express for $20. The food would have actually tasted like something and I wouldn't feel ripped off.

My friends are regulars to the sushi happy hour. Where else can you get get 7 rolls of delicious sushi for under $50?? We order something new everytime so we can try all the rolls but the Playboy Roll is our favorite and we get it everytime.

Everything was great! We went at about 4:30 on Monday and were sat right away. The server told us about happy hour and that sushi may take a little longer, I thought it was all very quick and delicious. The playboy roll was our favorite and their unique desserts looked awesome. I will definitely be back!! And it's open Monday!!

I am absolutely in love with this place, and I'm really disappointed that I haven't found a place in Milwaukee as reasonably priced. If you go on Mondays-Wednesdays between 4:30- 5:30 (though I really recommend you get there 10 mins before they open, there is always a line), it's Happy Hour, and all rolls are half priced! The sushi is really great quality, very fresh, and though the restaurant gets really busy, the food arrives in a pretty good amount of time. It's really great for someone on a budget who doesn't want to buy the prepackaged (and overpriced) sushi from Jewel. I definitely recommend that everyone checks this place out, I would go every week if I still lived in the area!

Went here again at about 6:30 on a Friday night, there was about a 5min wait for a table. I had the khaosoy noodles (tasty!) and my wife had sushi (meh). Oh, and we shared a crab rangoon appetizer (delish!). I stand by my previous review. I will add that this time, the time between the arrival of my kitchen dish and the arrival of the sushi was a bit greater--probably around 5-10min--enough to be noticeable, but not enough to affect dinner negatively.

You can tell that I'm a big sushi and thai and general Asian food fanatic - which makes sense, seeing as I'm Asian and all, and I think everybody who knows a thing or two about Asian food would know that it's quite difficult to find good relatively authentic Asian cuisine around the Americas. Came here for lunch, and I apologize to the waitress who served me for being somewhat of an airhead that day. I was starving when I walked in, so I just wanted to sit, eat, and read my Kindle. I ordered the panang curry (you can totally tell I love the panang curries), and it was delicious. Will visit again for sure!

Sushi Thai is one of my favorite sushi places in Lake County. I love their monster rolls and the atmosphere i casual but still comfy. A little small space, but worth the wait. Perfect for a semi-romantic yet casual date with your spouse.

I am compelled to update my review, mostly because of The Small Girl (newly 8 years old). This place gets FIVE STARS for customer appreciation and service. We continue to dine at Sushi Thai weekly after our girly time at the nail salon and thrift shop. I took said Small Girl to Sushi Thai for her birthday lunch and we were greeted with sunny smiles and amazing service. The highlight of her lunch: incredible animals and flowers made from vegetables (see photo) and her surprise birthday cake -- resolute with singing. They always go above and beyond every time! One day I ventured in after a doctor's appointment. I was feeling sorry for myself and sushi always improves my mood. I ordered my favorite Florida roll and spicy tuna maki. They made crazy cute food creations to go with my minimal order. Truly turned my mood around. I brought the carrot crab and the cucumber lotus home to The Small Girl (which she promptly devoured). Food remains good. Fresh sushi and good quality Thai. I don't find it to rival other places that are singularly one or the other. A perfect lunch spot. Dinner is delicious, but not fine dining. It should be noted that they are willing to leave out all traces of vegetables in soups and other dishes for those diners that fear co-mingling of their food (i.e. The Small Girl). A jewel in the middle of the prairie. N.B. After dining at an upscale Asian fusion establishment this weekend, Small Girl proclaimed to a fellow (adult) diner, " Sushi Thai really makes the best chicken fried rice."

To be perfectly clear, I did like this place. I ate all my food and would eat here again, I'm just not sure if I would seek this place out again. My biggest gripe with the place, they make sushi in a style I'm not accustomed to. Is it bad, no, just not my preferred style of sushi preparation. One example of the different style comment is that they use asparagus in several of their rolls. I even enjoyed the asparagus, but it was different enough to seem odd to me. I tried the Chicago Bull roll, or crunchy tuna to the layman, which was really good. The spider roll's breading was a hair too thick, but the roll itself was very good. I wasn't as big of a fan of the crunchy eel roll, but it was still pretty good. I would go back here for no other reason to try some of their Thai dishes, the sushi was good though.

Wonderful sushi, of the half dozen or so Lake County Sushi restaurants that I have tried, Sushi Thai is at the top. Friendly staff, and very accommodating. Can't go wrong, especially during the happy-hour sushi special.

When I was younger, I came here with some friends. They wanted sushi, but I wasn't a fan so I got pad Thai instead. I wasn't crazy about it but they all loved their sushi. I went off to college and expanded my pallet. Now I LOVE sushi...I would eat it every day if I could. I went back to Sushi Thai ready to give it a real try. I fell in love. There aren't that many sushi places around, and to find one that wasn't just good, but WONDERFUL was a really nice surprise. I always get something really bad for me that contains tempura (Munchie Crunchie Rolls anyone???) and the Crab Rangoon. So.GOOD. I die a little of happiness every time I bite into them. So this is my official amendment to my first impressions: if you want sushi, come here! Just be aware that if that's not what you're interested in, you might be better off somewhere else (Thai Noodle anyone?)

This is my favorite Sushi in the burbs. I almost didn't go the first time because of a crappy review. Ha, so glad I didn't listen to them! Not only are the rolls cheaper than any other place, they also offer a happy hour from 4-5:30 Mon-Wed which makes it ridiculously cheap! The rolls are just as good as some of the expensive places downtown, and they have a huge variety. My favorite are the Munchie Crunchy, the Playboy, the Libertyville Roll, the Deep Fried JB roll...but we keep getting the same ones cause they are so good. I need to go back again and keep trying some of the new ones they added, I can't wait to go back, it's been too long!!!

I visit Libertyville from time to time for work and ordered Sushi Thai for delivery to my hotel room one evening. My order consisted of pot stickers and the Spicy Basil entrée, both of which were quite tasty. I would definitely order again.

I have to say this is really good sushi! I tried the Playboy roll and the Dragon roll and they were both delicous. They put this fried crispy crust on the outside of the Playboy Roll and it was like REALLY tasty and probably some of the best sushi I have ever had. I once got the lunch special for $10.95 and was dissapointed though. I would just stick the to the Sushi and make sure to try the Playboy Roll at least once. The service is very good as well and the atmosphere is nice too. My soda was always full.

Lots of rolls to choose from-very creative speciality rolls. The restaurant needs to be a pinch bigger to accommodate all of it's frequent visitors. They also have an impressive Thai Food menu-I'm a huge fan of their Pad See Ewe and Thai Tea. We're excited to try the new Vernon Hills location soon.

I'm torn between giving this place 2 or 3 stars. I really want the 2.5 option for this one. The food is decent to good. I've tried a couple things from both the sushi and the thai menus. The real problem is the service and that if the table orders one sushi item and one kitchen item, they come out at COMPLETELY different times. Often up to 10-15 minutes apart, which seems extreme to me! Also, if you're ordering individual rolls, the prices seem a bit high for the size. I suppose if you want to get a lunch special it's a decent deal as long as you get served reasonably quickly, but I've just been here probably three too many times when it's been so slow we've considered leaving! One of these times was at dinner too, so it's not just a "lunch rush" thing. In all, I gave this place a few shots and I'm not opposed to going back with friends if that's their pick, but I won't make the call for this place on my own. I really wish they could get their act together with the service, because then it'd be a solid 3.5-4 stars.

i'm gonna be honest, I never knew the Thai part of Sushi Thai. This place delivers and what impressed me is they delivered to the main gate on base! My favorites are: miso soup, eel sushi, salmon sushi, tuna sushi and if you want a good mix get the Caterpillar roll! The staff are very quick for delivery and very happy go lucky. Love this place!

Nothing beats the half price sushi on Monday - Wednesday. My wife and I love going to Sushi Thai and sharing a few rolls. Also, I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who doesn't even like sushi. The Japanese and Thai entrees are delicious as well!

disappointed to say the least, i went to the "grand opening" week when they were offering $1 sushi -- i'm not sure what i expected exactly, but let's say it was not even worth the dollar. now they charge about $1.23 per piece of sushi... for a sliver of salmon ("sliver" is generous) on top of a piece of rice much too big for the sliver. don't get sushi here, that's for sure. shell out the extra dollar-ish at any other sushi place. i've also had the pad thai and a curry dish, which were also "meh."

Opening shop beside Walgreen's in a unit which formerly housed a forgettable sandwich cafe, Libertyville's latest sushi restaurant, Sushi Thai serves it's purpose as a quick and cheap lunch option. The lunch special is the way to go, $10.95 for Miso, 3 small pieces of sushi, california roll, and your selection of entree. I usually end up with the Pad Thai. Now that they've been open for a little while, they seem to have most of the bugs worked out of their operation. I recommend the place for lunch, having not tried it around dinner time yet.

I stopped at Sushi Thai for the first time last summer while visiting family in the area and was psyched to at the price of the sushi. For about a dollar a piece I can fulfill my sushi cravings and walk out full without spending more than $20. I love the salmon, yellowtail, white tuna and eel. My girlfriend loved the Chicago Bulls Roll, a spicy tuna roll, which is very unique since they use a thai hot sauce for the spicyness. I stopped in again a few weeks ago while making my yearly trip to Chicago and tried the Pad SeeEw, which is a tasty noodle dish and finished it off with more $1 dollar sushi while dining in the outdoor patio that is a new addition to the restaraunt. We both walked out very full and felt we were getting a steal since every sushi place we eat at is over $50 for a meal that leaves us still hungry. Will visit again next year!

I really like sushi thai. Normally I would not trust the Thai and Japanese mix, but this is good. The sushi is fresh and the dishes are nice as well. The only down side is the dishes are somewhat expensive in comparison to other Thai places in the area (of which have slightly better quality and quantity for that matter). However, Sushi Thai has nice lunch menu prices. This place is A-OK in my book.

My hubby and I Really enjoy this place. This is our "go-to" place for a great sushi and thai fix. Sushi is very fresh and so is the thai. Staff for the most part very friendly. Service could be a little better, faster and perhaps better in getting orders but it is so authentic it is worth the occasional mix up that they fix eventually!!!

I'd like to give two ratings...one for the pad thai and another for the sushi, so I'm being a tad generous with 3 stars. The pad thai is typical but good so that gets a 3. However the sushi was about a 2.5.....it sort of hit the spot but the rolls were very tiny and didnt have the flavor I've had at other places. I'd like to go back again to order some different maki rolls but will probably go to Hanakawa or Tsukasa instead. But I suppose the rolls are decent especially given the low prices. I only ordered to go and have never dined here so I'll give it another chance.

Been here many more times after my first review!!! The food has gotten even better with the expanse of their already delcious menu!!! The service is very friendly. They always find a way to make our children smile or laugh. It's more crowded now than it used to be. Starting to see a more diverse crowd dining in than what it used to be. The happy hour is amazing!!!! From 4:30 to 5:30 all rolls are half off!!!! BUUUTTTTT.... If you don't finish them, you have to pay full price of the unfinished roll(s). We always finish!!!! My son loves the egg-rolls and has even started to try a roll or two. They are planning to open a new Sushi Thai in Vernon Hills, I'll be glad when they do so that Sushi Thai in Libertyville won't be so crowded. The ONLY thing I COULD complain about with this place is the space/seating. But I'm not going to complain. Hell, I get seated within 10 minutes each time, yeah the space is small, but I don't mind the squeeze for some of the best rolls in Lake County!!!!!

Nice place to get sushi, been there quite a few times. The staff is friendly and sushi is fresh. Only draw back is that the seating is very close together and trying to get a romantic sushi outing probably isn't going to happen here. But all in all nice place to get some sushi, miso soup is great. Oh you got to try the Thai tea there very good.

This restaurant has a loft style dinning. The inside is red bricked walls and extremely clean. Its food is amazing along with the help. I've been to japan, china, etc with the military and this restaurant stacks up to the taste and quality you are looking for. It is a little small but the best time to go is monday-wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30pm as that is the happy hour time for half off all rolls. Been here several times and its amazing!!

Of the 5 dishes we ordered, one was just okay - the spring roll. The other four main courses were awful: a curry dish, pad thai, a basil noodle dish, and soft/crunch noodles w/ curry sauce. None of us finished our meals and we chose not to take home the left-overs. We did not try their sushi. I see others have rated this restaurant higher. Perhaps this was an off day? New cook?

its not horrible, but ive been here twice with co-workers for lunch. pad see-eiw was almost there but just barely lacking in flavor. sushi? the first time i went i couldnt believe how small the cuts that sat on top of the rolls were, thin little squares, literally a third of the size im used to. fresh? no, they didnt taste that bad but they definitely didnt look fresh, and also on the smaller side. the second time i went i was again surprised by how cold and hard the rice was, worse than grocery store sushi-to-go or buffet sushi.

I discovered this place when my friend and I were looking for good places to eat after we finished school. We looked around for places with happy hour and this place had it! Happy hour at this place was great and if you're looking for good sushi with reasonable prices for the best taste, this is the place to go! I always order my deep fried California rolls because it never ceases to disappoint me. Actually, all their sushi here are good! I've never had sushi here that disappointed me. ATMOSPHERE: This is a small restaurant. It's usually quiet in here in even during happy hours. When it's happy hour here, it's packed so I suggest going here 10 minutes before it starts because you may wait 20-30 minutes. They maintain cleanliness and this place just radiates good vibes. FOOD: Try everything here! It's all good in my opinion. Small tip, when you're trying out sushi, eat a piece of ginger here and there because it cleanses your palate so when you eat the next sushi, they don't start tasting the same. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The employees here are friendly and are very fast with your requests. Would I come back here? YAAAS! Would I recommend this to a friend? I always do and I even had a friend who HATED sushi LOVED it after coming here.

Too much emphasis on dining in! I stopped here for the 1st time to get carry out for lunch. I assumed there would be a lunch special, and there is, for $11.95, but they said its for dine-in only. It doesn't say that on the menu I was given, but it does say it on the one attached to my receipt. They also have Happy Hour from 4:30-5:30, dine in only. So after my dreams of a lunch special were shattered, and seeing I was there at the wrong time for a 50% discount as well, I decided to just get 1 order of the spicy yellowtail rolls for $7. I found the rolls to be mediocre at best. The sauce they put on it to make it spicy was kind of gross. It was not a good kind of spicy. It was like I splashed some sirracha on it to add some flavor. When I get spicy yellowtail at other places, it's the fish that is spicy, not some added sauce. I would never order this again if I went back. If I DO ever go back, it would only be for happy hour, which is during work hours, so that's not going to happen. There are much better sushi places down the street in town, as well as Vernon Hills.

If you want some good Pad Thai, i would recommend this place. I've been going here ever since they first opened. The prices are slightly higher. Sushi is A-OK. We went on a saturday night around 7:30. The small place was full. Had to wait a few minutes for a seat. Good timing i guess. Anyway, i started off with Thai Iced Tea. Super sweet and deliciously flavored. I always ask them to go easy on the condensed milk because it is ridiculously sweet, yet so good lol I'm not sure if our waiter forgot my request but my drink was still SO sweet. We ordered Crabmeat Tempura roll, Shrimp Tempura roll and Kentucky Roll. All three rolls were ok. One thing i dont like about "fusion" places is they smother the sushi with TONS of sauce. Whats the point of eating "fresh" fish or ingredients when all i can taste is the unagi sauce or whatever else sauce they put on sushi? I usually try to get the sauce on the side if possible. All that sauce they put on the sushi really takes the "natural" flavor away. Personally, i would steer away from the Kentucky roll. The cream cheese just made it too gooey. OR have the chef not add it in. Other than that, its okay. It does have a strong salmon flavor. Service was very friendly and prompt. Maybe part of the reason is they want to turn over tables quickly but i felt they were quick but not rushy in a way. So i didnt mind that. I usually just come here for the Pad Thai because it is one of my favorites in this area!

I am a big fan of Sushi Thai, both the Libertyville and the Vernon Hills locations in this case. The curries are all fantastic, the soups are great, and the noodles all taste great (I've sampled from a bit of each type, almost in excess.) The sushi and sashimi are also wonderful, with unique twists on familiar rolls, and even within traditional sushi fare.

I mean, you get a choice of Thai food or Japanese food. How much better can it get? The Red Curry is on point. The pricing is fair and the service is great! Plus they have my all time favorite Singha Thai Beer . The place seems pretty popular because it's packed! Haven't been here in over two years, & it's still doing awesome!. Made it just in time for happy hour yesterday (half price sushi 4:30-5:30pm from mon-wed) , and I was in a rush. I wanted to get in and out. When I walked in, 3 people greeted me and asked how I was doing before I even sat down. The waitress brought me my drink right away & noticed I was done looking through the menu. I was in and out of there in 20min after eating 16 pieces of sushi. I ordered the dragon roll and shrimp tempura roll. If you don't like spicy, I recommend not getting the dragon roll. 5 stars for amazing service and great sushi. This place never lets me down.

I can't believe this place is getting four star reviews for substandard sushi. The rice was poorly seasoned (probably not at all). Bad sushi rice = bad sushi. The cucumber in our rolls was yellowed with age, not green. The slices of raw fish were miserly, half the thickness of other sushi restaurants. Way too much drippy spicy mayo glopped on top of most rolls, masking the taste of the roll. The maki rolls were sloppily rolled and loose, not tight mouthfuls at all. Worst offense: the raw fish was practically room temperature. Sushi must be chilled to maintain freshness...that's how people get sick in sushi restaurants! I am glad to say none of my party got sick. But I can understand how other reviewers did get sick here. The miso soup was good and so was the service. But that's all that recommends this place.

Just went for the first time today. The sushi rolls were good, but I think the noodle dishes were fried with rancid oil, so get the sushi and not the noodles! (4 stars for sushi, 1 star for noodles.)

Finally tried this place. The rating is solely based on the food. Service here is quite good, not to stereotype, service here is superb for an Asian restaurant. I think I will give this place another try and come back for their happy hour sushi rolls Monday-Wednesday before 5:30. Quite an extensive selection of sushi here. I ordered the Drunken Noodle, quite mediocre and is expensive, $9.50 for a very small portion. I've definitely had better. Order the Tom Yum soup, too sour, not the best I've had. $3.95. Wanted to order a boba smoothie, but half of their options were unavailable, but since the cost is the same as a soup, I got the soup. $3.95 for Boba tea is pretty expensive. this place gets packed pretty quickly, came on a Friday night right after work, by the time 6:30 comes around, the restaurant was almost full.

Everytime I go to sushi Thai, I always get the playboy roll. It is tasty, and the special sauce they put over it makes ir that much better. However, there are a few downfalls. 1) there are some servers that don't check up on your table. 2) last time I went there was a bone in my friends playboy roll.. (which is not acceptable) 3) the bubble tea isn't even bubble tea! It's just a smoothie.. The food is tasty don't get me wrong but the servers don't explain the dishes very well. So don't get confused!

I just graduated yesterday from boot camp so my parents wanted to celebrate it by getting my favorite food ever: sushi. The place is decorated nicely and there's even outdoor seating available. I ordered about 4 rolls which were Kobe special, Chicago cubs, Vernon hills, and Stanley cup. My favorite would be the Kobe special because it was spicy. Least favorite was the Stanley cup because it tasted pretty boring/bland in my opinion. Overall, I do like this place and since it's so nearby, I'll definitely come back to satisfy my sushi cravings.

Don't go to this place ! Me and my family got sick after eating sushi here and the rolls we had were cooked. I can't imagine if we would have eaten the raw. On top of that the sushi tasted horrible. When it comes to eating sushi I am a regular. I know what it means to have a good roll. Stay away from sushi Thai.

Dislike. Service is not bAd, food is like a 1 star. The smoothies are powdered, gross do not get. The sushi is small and very simple, expensive and not flavorful. Also kind Of tastes frozen. Thai food is also very non-thai. Give it up people, find a better sushi place in the burbs or just travel to the city for top quality.

Super yummy Sushi and Sashimi. A bit pricey but that's expected for good Sashimi. And for those who don't want sushi, they can have Thai food. Definitely worth it for a nice dinner date.

I ordered delivery from Sushi Thai. Overall great quality and luckily they deliver through Grub Hub! I enjoyed the eel sashimi but wasn't a fan of the fish sashimi. A little dry. The spicy tuna roll, while more simple than the other options was actually very well done, light and delicious! I also ordered the Octopus and Cucumber salad which was very good and the seaweed salad. The Sushi Thai dumplings were well done as well. Definitely a good safe bet on sushi if you're out in the northern suburbs. I will definitely order from here again. They have a LOT of tasty appetizers and if you order a few, you can make a nice meal out of them!

FRAUD ALERT!!!! I used to love this restaurant and ordered carry out or ate in the restaurant at least 1 time per week (often times more than this). Last night when I ordered I realized I was overcharged. When I called I talked to the manager, Heather, she said their prices went up but arent reflective online or on their printed menu yet. I told her they couldnt do that without showing the customers the real price. Her response was, "We are a restaurant, we can do that.You are the only person who has said anything". When I asked to talk to the owner, she said she would not be in for a very long time. She was out of the country." Today I will be calling the city of Libertyville and the Attorney State General for fraud. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Check your bill!

The reviews I read built this place up and unfortunately it did not deliver. The review is only on the Thai food as I ordered delivery. The drunken noodles were awful. The red curry was chunky. Portions were good but if the food is less than average it doesn't matter. I chose Thai over Chinese to avoid low quality food but alas this place wasn't that great. Additionally when I ordered my total was 31 something. When the food arrived there was a 7 dollar delivery charge added without informing me. Then the delivery man seemed upset I didn't tip him. That's the most insane price for delivery I've ever seen and they don't inform you of it till it hits your door. Pathetic.

After my 2-star review for their fishy-tasting sushi, I came here tonight to try the thai. In reality, I'd give them 3.5 stars. Would I given them 4 stars for their thai food if they were in San Francisco? No. Probably 3 stars. Solid. Delicious. But not competitive with SF, and definitely not as authentic. However, how would I rate them in NoVA/DC? There, I'd give them 4 stars, so I think 4 stars here is fair. Tonight I ordered veggie tom yum soup (after the sushi a few weeks back, I wasn't up for trying the shrimp), and chicken pad see ew. The tom yum soup was delicious, but it tasted more like veggie soup with a bit of asian taste than asian soup with vegetables in it. The pad see ew was yummy, but again, not quite authentic in flavoring and spice. Perhaps too bland / Americanized? I'm not sure how to describe the nuance. It was delicious, and I ate all of the noodles, but it just wasn't authentic. If you come here, definitely opt for the thai (IMHO) vs. the sushi. p.s .they *ALWAYS* have good music playing. ALWAYS.

Sushi Thai has become a staple restaurant in my family. We have yet to be disappointed by an order. Our favorite rolls include the Kentucky, Rainbow, Before Sunrise, and the Playboy (when we really want to indulge). The rolls are a great size and the fish has always been fresh and of the highest quality. Also, their crab rangoons are heavenly. It's always fun to go with a group because if you order enough the meal will be brought to the table on a sushi boat. The wait staff is always friendly as well, and seem to go above and beyond to meet their customer's expectations. I highly recommend this location as well as the Vernon Hills spot!

My boyfriend brought me here I have never tried sushi before. I liked it a lot I have the vegetarian Avocado Cucumber Asparagus Sushi Roll. Very good I thought also tried the green salad with ginger dressing. For a first time sushi eater I loved the food. The service on the other hand was not the best our waitress forgot our water and then we had 3 different waitresses. Our food came quick though and they did apologize a ton for not remembering. This is an easy choice for us, especially after long-winded conversations of, "I don't know. What do YOU want for dinner?" It satiates multiple palates with both the Thai and sushi dishes. I love their pad Thai with tofu (this is a theme in my reviews, yes?). It's a little too light on the bean sprouts and veggies, though. I feel like I'm just eating a plate of noodles. The sauce is excellent, though, and their tofu is perfect. My husband orders more often from the sushi menu and has raved about everything. On our most recent trip, we split a few rolls. The spider roll (soft shelled crab) was excellent. The tuna roll was flavorful. And whatever the third roll was, I avoided it like the plague because it was spicy. :) The staff is attentive and gracious. We've showed up 30 minutes before closing before and they are as kind to us as if we showed up three hours before closing. The outdoor seating in the summer is a great touch, too, and something different than many other sushi or Thai places in the area.

Half Price sushi!!! And I do think of myself as a sushi expert (as Im sure many of us love to, lol)...but in my defense I have been to almost every sushi joint in Chicago-literally..and if you are looking for a bargain, this is it!! Maybe I shouldn't tell you...it's already soo crowded..okay, I'll crack... If you have even gone to an all you can eat, you know how bad those nothing but rice rolls can be. This place lets you order the specialty rolls, which leaves you at 6-7 bucks a roll, thats a deal I've never seen!! Great food. You can tell they take the effort to make sure each entree comes out flavorful. It's a real bargain for dinner. Lunch is good too but it's a little steep $$ money wise. It would be great if they developed a lunch portion/ priced menu. I would have given 5 stars but every time I come here I end up waiting an unusually long time (20-25 minutes) for my lunch order... Went in a week ago and I was very pleased with the service i was given and the food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS as well. I ordered the Pad Thai w/ beef and multiple sushi rolls. The Munchie Crunchy and Stanley cup roll are perhaps my favorite rolls on their menu. I was with a party of 5 and my girl friends were running a bit late, the manager and waiters were extremely understanding. They fulfilled my every need until my colleagues arrived for our dinner. We were all very pleased with the overall scenery, and home feel the restaurant had when we were eating. Being able to enjoy a great meal especially with great service will make us come back for MORE!!

I have been to the Vernon Hills location a multitude of times. I get sick of the same thing, but I know good sushi when I find it, so I decided I wanted to try out the original location. I headed up to Libertyville and was relieved that we got the last available table. It was a little cramped in by the door, but I'll endure anything for good sushi! The service was a bit slow and it took a while to get the sushi. The place was packed though. All of the tables were full, there was a wait and a bunch of people came in for carry out. It was nice outside so I decided to order a Green Tea Bubble Tea (that seems repetative). It was delicious. The tapioca bubbles are huge and for some reason they dye them black here, so it is like giant watermelon seeds. I finished off the bubble tea and was still left waiting for sushi. When the sushi finally arrived, I realized that it was well worth the wait. The rolls were huge and the fish was fresh. I thought the quality was much better here than the Vernon Hills location. I just did not like how slow the service wa and how cramped the restaurant was.

Sushi Thai is probably our favorite restaurant in northern Lake County. They are consistent and the service is great and friendly...we were just there tonight and I finally remembered to do a review. Try the seaweed salad as an appetizer, and their chicken eggrolls are spectacular. Also their Tom Kah soup and pad Thai are wonderful.

Half off sushi Monday through Wednesday only if you are seated between 4:30 to 5:30 You can order once only and only half off when eaten in-store They do have stringent rules, BUT the quality is totally worth it! I have been to this place 3 times, and tried a good number of rolls. Let me get started: 1. Munchy Crunchy Roll: MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE. Hands down. I do tend to gravitate towards cooked rolls, but this one is crunchy inside. Especially with this "white sauce" but the texture and savory taste of this roll makes it absolutely perfect for me :] 2. Orange Dragon Roll: Delicious with a little kick Decent: 3. Lobster Roll: a little too creamy for my taste but still a good roll. I liked it better than the others below. 4. Spicy Ninja Roll: Decent and interesting, i mean how can you not like the name? 5. Snow White Roll: Coconut flakes were an interesting touch but it was a little stale. nonetheless it was okay. Dislikes: 6. Spicy Crunchy Roll: much too oily, I definitely did not like this roll. it was tasteless, actually, it tasted like oil. It was a crunchy roll and completely deepfried. I LOVE tempura but this was overkill. 7. Vernon Hills Roll: the combination of flavors in the vernon rolls did not sit well on my palette. The sauce tasted like barbeque sauce, no good. 8. Serpentine Roll: it was bitter and just gross, i did not like this one at all. STILL the good rolls still made up for the bad rolls. and they were 50% off. SO each roll with tax and tip would come out to about $8 or so dollars. Not too bad for a fancy roll. I like to try different sushi rolls too so Happy Hour is the perfect time to go :]

Best sushi in the suburbs hands down. It's a kite expensive but well worth it. I recommend everyone to try the shrimp tempura. The staff are very nice and always attentive. Will be back with family...

First, you should know that my hubby and I tried the Thai part of Sushi Thai. My husband tried the spicy basil dish. He ordered it, on a scale of 1-4 for spiciness, as a 4 -- the hottest available. Now, this is a man that can't even eat pizza without some serious hot sauce. I swear his whole head started turning red after a couple of bites of his dish. He was in absolute heat heaven. Finally a restaurant that can match my husband's palate. I got the green curry with shrimp. They offer brown rice for an extra charge (really guys?) but I like my brown rice! I got a 2 on the heat scale and it was perfect to my liking. It's been a long time since I've found a green curry that I've been happy with. This tasted wonderful! I wish they were closer to my house so I could have green curry take-out. (Oh, and the take-out part of the biz seemed to be non-stop. ) I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars rather than 4 simply for the music. They had some head banging Christmas music that then switched to some carol by Will.I.Am and Lady Gaga. Trust me. A person cannot make this stuff up! But the music was so loud, intrusive and out of place that it took away from the dining experience.

Great place for lunch. I love the 'before sunrise' roll which is delicious! The actual restaurant is a little cramped, sometimes it gets really crowded and I feel like the person at the next table is very close to me. Not much privacy. I recommend visiting when it's not so busy.

Had lunch here during a business trip. The miso soup was ok, wish the tofu was lightly toasted to add additional flavor. Salad had fresh lettuce, no brown spots and dressing typical food distributor quality. Thai Spring rolls were fresh and sauce complemented them very well. Service good, location ok.

I use to enjoy going to sushi tha years ago, but over the years I have seen their service and food go down. I decided to give them one last chance to see if things have turned around and unfortunately I was disappointed again. The food is good, but they put a lot a fillers in their rolls. Like cucumber and lettuce and less fish. For the price you pay they shouldn't be cheap with their quality. I will never go back. I would suggest going to Kawa in Grayslake instead.

This place will always be my number 1 sushi restaurant. Go during happy hour Mondays through Wednesdays 430-530 and get half off all rolls. Get there on time though or you won't get a seat. This place has great atmosphere and the staff is really friendly. The sushi is fresh and amazing. I always get the Red Dragon roll and Eel unagi. Luckily they opened up a second location in Vernon Hills so there is more room for happy hour!

Stopped in for Happy Hour and I guess everyone else in Lake County did as well. The room was packed and even the tables outside were full. The server was prompt and offered drinks-I decided to try the bubble tea as they serve it frozen so it tastes like a milkshake (only healthy). There is a great assortment of rolls and I think I have tried them all--(Love the Kentucky Roll) the presentation was pretty and the rolls were a generous size. I have partaken in Happy Hour sushi at other restaurants before and this was the best. Seems like they do an awful lot of takeout as well.

Sushi and thai make an excellent combination! It definitely took me by surprise that Illinois could have sushi as good as Cali, but I am not complaining. The rolls here are fantastic, mine was essentially what I would create for myself... eel on the outside, and salmon, tomago, and avocado on the inside. The place is very casual, and I like that they honored are coupons hassle-free. I will be back... and back and back and back.

Sushithai is one of my most favorite places. There food tastes absolutely amazing. Every single bite you take taste so delightful and full of flavor. I have been to Sushithai so many times and it never gets old to me. This restaurant is very homie and they make you feel very welcome everytime you step into the restaurant. All their food is very fresh and you know that every time they bring you out your food you will never be disappointed. We came back with my family for my birthday on Friday night, the place was crowded. But service was still impressively quick for the amount of orders they had, however. There were only 3 sushi chefs, and they handled all of it extremely well. Wait staff was also friendly and helpful. We are very satisfied with every visits. I really love my favorite Chicago Bears roll and Munchie Crunchy roll. They have a really original one. This place has great happy hour, all rolls half off. Do I need to say more? The rolls aren't only cheap as heck, but they taste so good and fresh. Their wonderful patio looked so inviting. Sushithai will most likely never go out of business because everyone loves this restaurant! Especially me and my family! Just close your eyes and enjoy the food.

Been eating here since they first opened, found them back when they had Restaurant.com coupons available! Overall the service, food, and atmosphere are great! I've never had any issues to complain about, definitely worth full price -though they have deals if you go at the right time. I would say that the Thai food is great and the sushi is very good! Probably some of the best sushi I've had in the Midwest! Although preference will play a role in what kinds of sushi you like, I would say that everything I've tried has tasted fresh -even if it ended up not being a favorite. The wife enjoys going here, she doesn't like sushi but she loves their Thai food. I'll eat either and we can both be happy since neither is a compromise! I have brought lots of friends and family to eat here over the years and have never been embarrassed by bad service or bad food, which is always important to me when I recommend a place. The only negative is that I've had to wait a couple times to get in, still it's worth the wait!

Sushi Thai is a great place to eat! Their fair prices on sushi are just awesome! The only thing I would have to complain about is a cranky waiter but other thank that it is great. Check on their website because they sometimes have coupons. Also, on Monday and Wednesday they have happy hour. Which is half price some food items.

Absolutely our favorite east asian place in the neighborhood. The food here is outstanding, and the staff is extremely friendly. It's clean, very nicely decorated, and has quick to-go service. The whole experience here is better than Nori. The sushi is beautifully presented. The Thai is a notch better than Summer. I'd like to say our favorite item on them menu is the Bangkok poh tak (sweet and sour seafood soup), but last time we were there it seemed less fresh than usual. Hopefully that was an anomaly. Always a great, casual place but with a hip, classy feel.

I order delivery from here quite frequently out of convenience and Sushi Thai really has exceeded my expectations. My standards for delivery food are pretty low to begin with but everything we order from here is delicious. The sushi always tastes fresh and the food comes hot. I recommend the Chicago Bulls roll and the Vernon Hills roll as well as the spicy basil entree option (very delicious!). The thai food isn't the best I've ever had, but it is pretty good, especially for this area. PS, they always offer a special on their website or send mailers out for free apps!

We have ordered takeout here on a couple of occasions and have not been disappointed. I think my favorite roll is the Wildcat Roll but everything we have ordered has been very good - also, enjoyed their Steak Teriyaki and Spider Roll. We have never dined in-house but it is a cozy atmosphere and busy each time we have stopped in. Staff has been friendly when we pick up our order and even opened a bottle of wine for us as we were at the hotel next door and didn't have a wine key. Much appreciated!

My wife and I went to this location on a Friday night. As soon as we walked in, a server was right there to greet us and seat us. The location is small but nicely organized. We started out with a California roll, very nice. We then had fried tofu, spring rolls (very refreshing) however the sauce was not my favorite. We then had the teriyaki roll and chicken. Both outstanding. This will be on our list of places to visit on a routine basis. Service was quick and very nice.

Food is serviceable but not great. The salads are definitely side dishes, not entrees. They tend to have lots of dressing that overwhelms by itself but would be a good accompaniment. All the rolls have a sweet stickiness that I don't care for. The restaurant is nice and clean.

This looks like a great idea: some of us wants sushi. Others want thai. Let's go to sushi thai! The sushi was average. No complaints, but no raves either. All of the Thai we ordered was just...a joke. A rule of thumb the girl and I have developed is: if you've tasted better from the frozen foods section at Kroger, then it's not worth going back. The pad thai was definitely in that category, which is unacceptable since many indecisive diners will default to that dish. It was gross. Our other thai dishes were simply bland. You could probably request more heat, but that's not the whole story - there is a way of subtly spicing food with or without making it hot. Sushi Thai apparently does not understand how to accomplish that.

I would recommend that happy hour be carried over for another hour or offering more specials. I come here quite often and the bill can really add up. The other location is great as well, thanks!

I used to love this place. For a while we we're going or ordering at least once a week to indulge in what I believed to be the best sushi and ginger salad dressing around. But the all around quality has noticeably declined. Seriously, the last handful of times we went for dinner the staff was unfriendly, inattentive, and our cooked rolls took a ridiculously long time to come (which could be understandable if it was super busy or we were rude to staff, but this was not the case). The sushi we ordered did NOT taste fresh, AND we kept being given moldy chopsticks. Yep. The waitress was annoyed that we politely (and with an air of embarrassment) kept asking for new ones and finally pointed to the end you eat with and said she didn't see any mold there. How is that an acceptable standard for any restaurant, especially one serving raw fish? It makes me wonder where else their standards are poor. While still at the restaurant I downloaded the Yelp app for the sole purpose of leaving this review because we were so upset. I wrote but didn't post this right away knowing how serious a bad review can be and knowing I should think on it. Well, months later, I'm still upset and grossed out. We will continue getting our sushi elsewhere, I recommend you do too. Sorry Sushi Thai. :(

The Tom Kha soup is great, I ordered it EXTRA spicy and they did it! The red curry and green curry are both excellent. (however not as spicy as I would have liked) I've yet to try to sushi but my coworkers have all been fans.

I had high hopes but was disappointed by Sushi Thai. I live in the San Francisco Bay area and grew up in Hawaii, so I eat a lot of good sushi, but I was in Chicago for work and had sushi cravings, so thought I'd give it a try. I got three rolls - the Green Bay roll (yellowtail, avocado, cilantro, jalapeno), a vegetable roll, and a yellowtail roll that I asked that they add green onion to (the waitress checked, and then said "sure", but she failed to mention that they would add $1.00 to the price). The service was pleasant, but... ...fish was only okay (not terrible, not terrific). Freshness was mediocre, and the way the fish was cut in the rolls was much chunkier and less delicate than sushi I am used to eating. ...sushi rolls were loose and falling apart. ...seaweed wrapping the rolls was chewy. ...waitress should have let me know they would charge an extra dollar simply to add some green onion to the yellowtail roll. ...hot tea was an extra $2.25 charge. And it wasn't green tea. (Most Japanese restaurants I eat at serve hot green tea with no extra charge.) ...only a tiny bit of wasabi was provided for three rolls. It wasn't enough, but I didn't feel like asking for more wasabi, as (per the menu) it would have been another $1.00 charge.

We ordered Sushi Thai via Grub Hub and are disappointed. "Eating in" at Sushi Thai has been a good experience from a service and food perspective, and our attempt with the delivery did not work. It was late, and when we called, Grubhub was appropriately empathetic in their trained apology...the food still arrived 20 minutes late. Our order consisted of Chicken Teriyaki (we asked for additional tofu which came in a separate 1-oz. container...really? 1 ounce of cut up rubber tofu? with a dinner entre?), potstickers, and a sushi dish called the "Sneaky Ninja". The potstickers were fine once we reheated them in the microwave...the "Sneaky Ninja" was just ok and looked like it was more like a "Catatonic Ninja" that had been sitting in a cooler for half the day. The Chicken Teriyaki was the biggest disappointment...it wasn't bad, .just not anywhere near worth the toal $50 tab (including tip). It arrived in a small container, cold and dry... honestly, we could have gone to Mariano's and gotten their pre-packaged chicken dish and it would have been the same or maybe even better. The vegetables included were limp, dry and quite possibly freeze dried prior to delivery. Next time we'll drive the 1.3 miles to either dine-in or pick up our food.

My husband and I stopped off here for lunch on the weekend. At first I thought it was the same as the place in Buffalo Grove, because that place started out as Sushi Thai, then closed briefly and reopened as Fuji Thai. It looks similar but the food quality is not as good. My husband had a combination plate of sushi and teriyaki chicken, which he said was just ok. The chicken was dry. I ordered curry fried rice with chicken. I asked for it spicy, a 2 or 3. It was very mild, not even a 2. What was worse, there was a medicinal taste to the whole dish. I know tapioca starch (certain brands) have the same medicinal quality because I have made my own gluten-free flours, so I think they may have used tapioca starch as a thickener for the sauce. I could not finish the meal, it was that bad. But I brought it home for my daughter, thinking she might like it because you know, maybe there's something wrong with my sense of taste. Nope. Nothing wrong. She took one bite and threw it down the garbage disposal. I highly doubt I'll be back here.

We only had the thai food so can't comment on the sushi. Lunch special is around $10.50, but I ended up just getting an order or Yellow Curry, Tom Kha soup and tea. Altogether price was around $16 before tax/tip. So definintely more than I'm used to spending for lunch. Presentation was good, service was good, food was good. The Tom Kha was a little clearer than I am used to- not as creamy or spicy- but taste was fine. I thought the rice was very good- light and fluffy and not too dry. Went well with the curry, which was also tasty and not too heavy. All in all I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a bit nicer Thai/Sushi meal than the average place. Otherwise I think you could find somewhere else and enjoy for less money...

For people on the budget, this is the place to get sushi. Half price sushi Monday to Wednesday between 4:30-5:30pm. Specialty rolls are respectable and pretty big. Sneaky ninja roll (if you like spicy tuna) was really good and at around 5 bucks, a very affordable meal. Only thing is they only take your order once so better make the right decision.

The food here at sushi Thai libertyville is delicious!! I like to order forte roll (even thought I'm not a fan of this player ^_^), dumpling,crab Rangoon, pad see ewe. It's all good. I have been to many places in my area ( Vernon hills, buffalo grove, Lincolnshire and around north suburb ). I always love love to come to sushi Thai libertyville because all the other places couldn't even compare to this place (sushi Thai libertyville)!!!.They are friendly and great service. If you guys pass by this place, I would suggest u to stop by and have some good food here. It is worth your money!

Sushi Thai is wonderful. This is my go-to place for dates, celebratory dinners, or good food "just because." Even more so now that they deliver! I've never had the Thai food there but the sushi is incredible. Personal favorites include the Playboll Roll, Chicago Cubs Roll, and Three Wisemen Roll (love the mango, it's always incredibly fresh but never overwhelming). I also like the addition of coconut shaving on the Caterpillar Roll, it takes this standard sushi offering to the next level. The happy hour prices (half off every roll? wow) are incredible - just remember that you can't take any out with you during that time so don't order too much! And I would never visit without ordering their delicious honeydew bubble tea. Service is fast and courteous and even at full price, I find their costs reasonable. I would eat here everyday if I could! And the same goes for their Vernon Hills location, which has more space and all the same great features of the original.

AWESOME food..the forte 42 or whatever it is called was amazing... I took off a star only because the lady at the front counter was rude. I thought if they got someone in the front that did not both verbally and non verbally act rude, it would have been hands down five stars. So my boyfriend and I come back and just refer to her as the sushi nazi...lol... our little Seinfeld joke, as the food is worth coming back for sure!!!

Sushi Thai embodies the phrase, "A Jack of all trades, a master of none". While they do have several tasty Thai dishes, as well as Sushi rolls, there is definite room for improvement. Tonight we embarked on a mission to spend $50 at Sushi Thai, primarily due to a fantastic "gift certificate" that we purchased for $5 from restaurants.com . We consider it a credit to serve both good Thai food and good sushi rolls, however, we expect no one to offer a phenomenal array of both. Tucked away at the end of a strip mall next to a Great Clips, Sushi Thai has a cozy atmosphere which is rarely busy. They have a snug indoor portion as well as outdoor seating (which we have unfortunately never had the opportunity to take advantage of). It had dark walls and tables which added to its comforting vibe while simultaneously contrasted by an abundance of natural light due to the large bay windows. We were immediately greeted and shown our tables. Seeing as how it was a Monday night, the fellow patrons were few and far between. The waitress was extremely nice and always has been the few times that we have been there. Today we opted to start with a dual appetizer of Crab Rangoon and Egg Rolls. Not incredibly adventurous, however the Crab Rangoon were piping hot, golden brown, and something that has made its way of being a staple for future visits. The filling was so creamy and slightly sweet which was refreshing compared to most cream cheese crammed imitations. The egg rolls on the other hand were a definite miss. After awhile the super dense and overly dry "chicken meat sticks" became a chore. Their only redeeming quality was that of their delightfully crisp wrapper. We ordered three sushi rolls, the Eel Roll (BBQ Eel with cucumber), The Florida (Tuna, Yellowtail, avocado and orange caviar) and the Rainbow Roll (California Roll with Tuna, Salmon and Whitefish on top). The Eel Roll was delicious but skimpy -- in both the amount of rice as well as eel - it was by far our favorite though. The Florida roll came in second place and literally half of the roll was Tuna while the other was Yellowtail, so it should be noted that the fish did not intermingle at all, which we had expected. And finally the Rainbow roll. Due to an allergy to Salmon, we had to exchange it out for Yellowtail. It really was standard, not a showpiece in any way. Moving on to our Thai dishes, we decided to be a little adventurous and to try two new dishes, that of Khaosoy (crispy and soft noodles with coconut yellow curry sauce, shallots, onions and bell peppers) and Woonsen Pad Thai (stir-fried thread noodles with egg, beansprouts, tofu, and eggs in their homemade sauce). The Woonsen Pad Thai had the flavor of a typical Pad Thai, but with thinly diced slices of Tofu and a change in the noodle type, which were easier to manage as well as a nice change of texture. The Khaosoy was more of a soup than a dish, as it was served in a large bowl topped with 6" of crispy noodles which you then crush to eat. If you are familiar with Thai curry, then this is a greatly watered down version of that turned into a soup. It was -- fantastic. We had it with Chicken, and the soft noodles had a distinct background of shrimp noodles. (If you're familiar with Chinese noodles, they're called Ha Gi Mien -- a common packaged noodle.) Regardless, if we return (which I'm sure we will) Khaosoy and the Crab Rangoon are probably going to be the first two things we order. The service was very nice, the prices were affordable, and the food was delightful. You just have to be willing to experiment to find the "good" dishes.

Correction: I was at Sushi Thai II in Vernon Hills. I was first introduced to thai food back in 2008-2009 and I have to say I'm hooked. I don't partake in thai food on a regular basis, but when I do I like to try my usual dish (Beef Pad Thai) from various locations. So I've been to this location on three separate occasions. The first time I went there the ambience was just wonderful (albeit, I went there around 12ish and the lunch crowd didn't start pouring in, yet). It was peaceful and the interior decorating was very up-to-date and pleasing to the eye. There is a HD TV towards the back for those who want to catch a game or highlights on ESPN (I'm not sure if they change the channel accordingly to what's on. Plus I never asked if they could). So on to the main reason of why I'm writing this review. My first visit there went splendidly. The beef pad thai was well-presented and very pleasing to the multiple senses (taste, smell, sight). During my first visit I didn't ask if they could make it spicy (even though they have a spice level between 1-5). The food tasted great and it was mouth-watering (I guess that depends on how hungry you are as you walk in :P). Everything was well made and had a good amount of temperature. I use chop sticks when I eat thai food and it made this experience all the more fun! One negative about this dish: they should go a little easier on the spring onions. I think that was the only issue I've seen with my visits there. A little too much will overpower the dish and make you wonder what am I actually paying for - beef pad thai or a plate full of spring onions. But nonetheless, definitely stop by this place because I know I will!

Was very excited to see the vegetarian masaman curry on the entre, but it was marginal. The masaman sauce was watery and not particularly flavorful. I didn't order the sushi but it looked great. The dining room is simple but inviting. I want to like this place but they need to work on the food quality.

BEST SUSHI IN NORTHERN SUBURBS!!!!!! My boyfriend and I have become sushi snobs and try a new place every Saturday for over a year now and we LOVE Sushi Thai. I can't remember which rolls we had, but their menu is so unique EVERYTHING is amazing. Sushi is super fresh and super yummy! We had 6 rolls and spent probably around $80 for dinner for two... CAN'T GO WRONG HERE!

I'll go 3.5. We did a late (read: not lunch rush hour) lunch here today, and it was far more satisfactory than previous experiences. No rushing. Pad Thai was yummy (it's hard to do tofu right, and they nailed it. Nice texture, nice flavor). I also have to say, my pal's Sushi lunch special looked amazing. $10.95 = a small salad, three very nice-looking pieces of nigiri, a California roll & a side portion of Pad Thai. If you like sushi, this looked like a very good value.

Hands down, my favorite restaurant in Libertyville. I love that the casual atmosphere, the 90s background music, and, I can't forget my personal favorite, the out-of-this-world Woonsen Pad Thai. I have never tried any of the other entrees, but I don't plan on it any time soon. On the sushi end, I'd say it is above average in comparison to other sushi restaurants in suburbia Chicago and it certainly satisfies my occasional sushi cravings, but it is the Woonsen Pad Thai that keeps me coming back.

Our Thai meal was second rate. Both Thai dishes, a Panang curry and Khaosoy, were sub-par. The vegetables were generally ok, but seemed to be the bottom of the barrel (we sat down at 8pm on Saturday night). The tofu was exactly how I dont like it: either extra firm and maybe a bit crispy in a stir fry, or silky smooth for a curry. This stuff was rubbery. The rice was much worse, though. It was obviously left over from much earlier and should not have been served. I dont run a restaurant, but it seems to me that rice is cheap and easy, so there should no reason for them to forgo cooking more in favor of serving moldy gravel. I can only imagine how bad it would have been if we ordered maki. Also, both the dishes we ordered had a red pepper icon indicating they were spicy. They had no spice at all. I was really in the mood for dont touch your sweaty eyebrows with your burning fingers spicy food, but got none of it. The server never asked how spicy we wanted the food, and when she came back out, I asked for hot sauce. They have a nice tray with crushed red pepper, Siracha (or something like it) and another, not so spicy, but interesting sauce. The lady had a Thai Iced Tea, one of her consistent faves, but reported that the tea in this one tasted like fast food iced tea. The alcohol selection was also poor. I wasn't looking to get hammered, but the evening called for a nice beer. My choice of a half-dozen bottled Asian standbys (Tsingtao, Kirin, etc.) yielded me a slightly skunked Sapporo that was a real bummer. My last gripe was that the outdoor seating has no ambiance at all. No surprise that it was loud, being 40 feet from busy Milwaukee Ave, but also we were ambushed by mosquitos. Saving Sushi Thai from 1 star hell were wonderful and unique crab Rangoons. They are huge and stuffed with all manner of goodness (not just cream cheese). You get 4 when you order and come with a nice sweet sour sauce. We will probably come back, since it is close, and we'll definitely try the sushi instead of the Thai.

Sushi Thai is a combination Japanese/Thai restaurant that has many options to offer. Although there is plenty of seating, I would recommend getting there a little before peak lunch hours, like 1145ish or so. They do have outdoor seating, but I'm not a big fan of eating outside. If you get there too late, sometimes they try to squeeze groups of three into two people tables/area and it just gets uncomfortable. I always go with the lunch specials whenever I go here. You get an option between pad thai, pad see eiw, chicken satay, fried rice, chicken teriyaki or shrimp & vegetable tempura. It also includes a California roll, 3 pieces of sushi and is served with your choice of miso soup or salad. I've tried both the pad thai & pad see eiw and have been content. The serving sizes are just the right size. The service is great too. Last time I went, we had two waitresses try to serve us. :) They all seem friendly and are not too obsessed with bothering you every 5 minutes to make sure "everything is okay." I'll definitely coming back to this place so long as I'm working nearby. ;)

My wife and I were here when they first opened long before I yelped. We went for dinner last weekend and were very pleasantly surprised. We were sharing a couple of dishes. The yellow curried mussels we just OK. they could have used a little more sauce. The "Chicago Bulls Roll" was excellent and very fresh. The big surprise was the Pecan Basil Pesto Spicy Noodle dish. It had just the right amount of heat and cooked perfectly. We had ours with shrimp, you can choose any protein you would like. The space is a little tight, and it is a bit noisy. Overall a very good experience. We will go back. FYI, beer, wine a sake only

After an evening of shopping, my girlfriend and I had worked up a serious appetite for some asian cuisine. She wanted sushi, I wanted pad thai, so Sushi Thai was an obvious choice. First impression: it's ALWAYS a good sign when a restaurant is packed at 8:30pm on a Monday evening. That being said, the place is rather small, maybe only 15 or so tables, but clearly a local favorite. Once we were seated, we were immediately greeted by a friendly server and ordered some sake and beers and perused their eclectic menu. They had a selection of your standard thai rice and noodle dishes, 4 or 5 different curries, and a pretty long list of other entrees. I was thrown off a bit by their sushi menu as there were definitely some very interesting/creative/unusual rolls on the menu. I found it slightly amusing that they clearly cater to local patrons, what with rolls named "Libertyville", "Vernon Hills", and "Wildcat".. but they seem to have a good thing going. As for the food, we had the Red Dragon roll (with unagi sauce instead of the spicy special sauce), the Philly roll, and split an order of pad thai. Both rolls were delicious, well-rolled with fresh fish. The pad thai was also good, not the best I've ever had (we both agreed the tofu was a little tough), but the sauce was tasty. The food came quite quickly and we were out the door in less than an hour. Overall, it was a decent meal at a pretty reasonable price.. about $30 each out the door. Not much for ambiance, but a nice spot for a quick, tasty bite of 'fusion cuisine'. Definitely want to go back for their "happy hour" and check out their lunch specials.
