High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Darn good pastrami, definitely recommend minus the price.

You can get a pretty good sandwich at Burt's, but it's so overpriced that you should be prepared for a nose bleed. Everything seems alacarte, so don't expect tater salad with that sandwich to be included in the price. We were a party of 4, and our bill was over $45; all we had were corned beef or tuna sandwiches with chips and pickles, two sides and diet cokes! Maybe that guy behind the counter was a bit too much "New York".

Excellent! I randomly discovered this place thanks to Yelp. So many people said to try the Yummy. I don't even really like pastrami or corned beef, but once the man making my sandwich gave me a free sample of the meat, it was decided. They were VERY nice to me here. The sandwich was great. The price was a little high at $12.79, but I really appreciate small places like this. I will be back.

Yummy and which is what I had, with delicious warm corned beef , pastrami , white American cheese, picked , horseradish and mustard. Nicest place excellent friendly service! Thanks for the bottle of h30. Delicious.....

The yummy was phenomenal. Not much else to say Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the price. $12 is a little much for a sandwich that is on the smaller side

Great sandwich!! Ultra clean and friendly... welcoming.. I wish the bread would have been even close to New York Rye bread, than again.. I'm not in New York. I will be back.

Burts Deli has the best deli around, you can't go wrong with just a Corn Beef sandwich, a Pastrami sandwich, salami or any other deli meats along with their soup. But if you can't make up your mind go for their sandwich called "The Yummy" it's half Corn Beef with half Pastrami with creamy Swiss Cheese along with mustard and horseradish on rye of course. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars was that they don't have a public washroom. I thought that it was a law to have public washrooms for sit down Restraunt's.....

This turned out to be a discovery in my own near backyard. I have driven along Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville for ages (dinosaurs had just gone extinct) and never knew of this place. Anyways, once discovered, I walked into this place just off Milwaukee Ave. and found a small deli town--the mayor was there (owner) and he greeted me like a new voter, offering a slice of corned beef. Friendly and smart! The corned beef was perfect! So I took the next step and ordered a corned beef and rye sandwich. (No glitz. No cover-up. Just the sandwich.) Okay. I was asked if I wanted mustard and I said yes. How did he get mustard in the perfect amount? Don't know, but he did. The tally: one tester sandwich--one five star success. The place has a few tables. There are some cute signs. One says to eat slowly and enjoy. The mayor knows his food. I did eat slowly and I enjoyed immensely. I've seen other reviews for here and I'm already starting to strategize. No doubt though, the mayor has my vote.

Best corned beef I've ever had in my life! I've been coming to Burt's for years and am NEVER disappointed always the best always delicious I love mine with their creamy swiss brown mustard and horseradish! They're definitely worth their price anytime I'm in the area we have to stop here! If you haven't been here yet your definitely missing out!

Jewish Deli, has a wonderful selection. Seating area is small, seats maybe 20, with no public bathroom. Be prepared. Costs are what are to be expected when your dealing with meats themselves that however around 10 bucks a pound from the deli case. Sandwiches hover around 10 bucks, include some kosher pickles. No additional sides, and no drinks included. However I find the meat qualities to be worth the price of admission. Service is fast and friendly, family owned, been there for years. The only reason for the lack of five stars, is the lack of a sizeable seating area, and the lack of a bathroom. Seriously, a MUST visit! Especially when the weather is nicer, and the lack of a seating area might not be a big deal after all.

Very nice owner and it is an authentic deli. The egg salad is very good. I wish they expanded with a full service restaurant because it would probaby do very well.

The yummy sandwich... OMG. It is to die for. Corned beef, pastrami, mustard horseradish... Wow. "Don't eat it too fast!" it is hard not to... I didn't want to put it down.

In this part of the county, Jewish delis aren't abundant. There's Silverbergs. There's Burt's. I'm not evaluating Burt's on a curve due to the limited options nearby, though. It's really 5-star even if it was in the 'hood. The meat is shaved so thin it only has one side. The service is excellent. The breads are fresh and soft. I was not terribly excited about my vinegar and oil slaw, but you know what? Who cares! You come to a deli for the MEAT. The Yummie was just that. Sorry Silverbergs -- but my experience with you was nothing compared to this.

Home of the famous Yummy sandwich. One of the only delicatessen's found in or around the North suburban area other than another I know of in Skokie, IL. The Yummy is composed of warm corned beef, pastrami, cheese, mustard and horseradish. Not a simple sandwich and packed with flavors that will blow your mind. Granted you have to have some love for the meats involved. Pair it with some of their tasty macaroni salad, a bag of chips and a green river and your set. Once in a great while I'll stop in for this combo, it's a lot of meat and guaranteed to leave you (food) comatose. A sandwich is always complimented with a pickle. Pricing, say a sandwich and drink could run you close to $10 dollars. Individual salads come in a personal serving of a 1/2 pound for $1.50. Yummy alone $8.40 Different sodas and beverages available, multiple kinds of chips and home made brownies. If you like deli sandwiches with heart bookmark this spot and try it sometime. They typically close at 5 pm (weekends 4:30p), only day hours, never evenings. FYI it's best to have the Yummy when it's hot.

Love this place. Burt's son, Ralph, is working the deli and is adorable. He has been there since my high school days. (13 yrs ago, Oh My!) You have to go here for the Yummy. I love warm, pastrami sandwiches with as much mustard and horsy sauce as I can handle...which is a lot. The side of free pickles are another bonus. My co-workers get excited about the old-timey soda, Stewarts that they have. I guess the orange flavor taste like orange-cremsicles. Great place to go in the summer or winter. I always walk out with a 'happy tummy'. They now have these delicious sugar cookies. I love how he still recognizes me too! so cute~

So you walk in, feeling like you took a few steps (giant leaps, more like it) back in time. Think a deli from the 80s where everybody knows everybody. You've got Larry and George in their usual corner table, with Ernie sitting with his nose in his crossword, and Carl eyeing the new-comer ordering up at the counter. Basically a small scale, family-owned and operated deli shop that dishes out great sandwiches (pastrami and corned beef on rye is bomb) and caters to some unflaggingly-loyal patrons. Great place.

Amazing ! My father and grandfather used to take me here as a little kid, 25 years later and this place still has not changed! Huge deliciously delectable sandwiches you can't eat the whole thing but you can't get enough!! So good! Awesome old school deli atmosphere! Just an all around Awesome place!

Love this place! You have to get the Yummy...I made the mistake of getting a Ruben cause I love them, but this place you just have to stick to their specialty. Perfect proportions, gooey and yummy. They also make their own pickles! Its soooo good!! I am obsessed with Rubens, and no one makes them like my mom, so we got 5 pounds of Burt's AMAZING corned beef, a tub of pickles and was in Ruben heaven. They are simple and fantastic...be ready for a food coma though!

Burt's Deli is a little buried, back in a strip mall, but off to one side. Some clients knew about it, and that's how I ended up here. They have a pretty tasty corned beef/pastrami sandwich, called the Yummy - when I mused to myself "what should I have", even the woman waiting in line in front of us told me the Yummy. It's served with cheese, mustard, and horseradish sauce, heated. The meat is really quite good. I don't know where they get it, it might be cured by them, but based on size of the shop, It probably isn't done on site. But you never know. I opted for mine without the horseradish - I love hot food, but not horseradish. The cheese was a bit disappointing - not good swiss, but almost processed cheese. All things considered though, the sandwich was good. I will say that it was a little on the pricey side for what it was, but it's clearly a Mom & Pop joint, so I'm okay with supporting my independent business. A-OK with me - I'll probably add this to my list for when I'm up north.

If you're looking for an excellent corned beef sandwich, Burts is where it's at! We paid a little more for the corned beef to be extra lean and it was worth every penny - warm & delicious! Ralph (Burt's son) came by our table and we ended up talking to him for a bit. It's a family owned business & you can tell Ralph is working hard to continue the legacy of his father. We will definitely be back!

If you want a corn beef sandwich, or a pastrami sandwich in Lake County Illinois Burts is the only place to go. It's not pretty, no shirt and tie needed here, it's a deli in strip mall and it's worth the trip, enough said. When Ralph ask you if you would like to try a "Yummy" (half corn beef, half pastrami) don't hesitate just say "yes". Then enjoy. Why should you listen to Ralph? Well he has been working in this place since he could walk. Matzo Ball Soup courses threw his veins, the only thing he has known and trained for, since he was a toddler, is how to mix the perfect blend of corn beef, pastrami, rye, cheese, horse radish and mustard. The man is a savant as a deli proprietor. Warning: The surgeon general warns you that Burt's Deli is addictive. Eating to much of their Corn Beef or Pastrami will make you do stupid things to obtain more.

Solid sandwiches. good cookies too. if you are in the neighborhood and would like a sandwich- roast beef, corned beef, salami, turkey...this is a good spot.

VALUE: The prices are indeed higher than some chains you may visit ($7.50 for a sandwich is accurate), but the sandwich I received was so much fresher, tastier, and had SO much more meat than any other sandwich I've gotten at other deli's in the area it was SOOOOOOOOOOO worth it. If quality and quantity are your thing, don't go anywhere other than Burt's! ATMOSPHERE: Meh. It is what it is... a small deli. They have a ton of pictures, articles, and ads on the wall, so you certainly won't be bored while eating. This is especially great for kids, by the way. It was very small, 3 or 4 booths only, but very clean, and the husband / wife team working the counter were extremely friendly and made us feel like family. I loved their attention to what we wanted and their willingness to chit chat and make us feel so welcome. FOOD Quality, grade A corned beef. The bread is freshly baked just for them and brought in daily, and you can tell. The meat is really, really good, and the combination is dynamite. For a local deli, this is as top notch as you can get. There's a reason they've been around 35 years! I for one will be back, with friends, frequently... you'd be a fool not to try it. HOURS The hours are the only "downer". They open around 10:00 am, and close EARLY, around 4:30 pm depending on the day. Make sure you get there prior to 4:00 to guarantee you get served. (SIDE TIP - if you don't want to dine in, they sell the meat AND the bread by the pound / loaf, and you can take it home. Their "bulk" prices are extremely competitive, and end up even better than the cost per sandwich if you work out the math - great option!)

I've had sandwiches all over the world, and nothing comes close to the Yummy. Their hotdogs are pretty classy too.

We've ordered sandwiches for the office for years. The bank is nearby and when someone ran to the bank, we'd give them an order every couple of weeks or so. The Combo is the bomb! Pastrami and Corned Beef- warm. Once, on a Monday we gave an order to our bank runner. He came back empty handed. Bert's was closed! The next week, we put an order in and our guy came back with the goods. "What the hell happened last week, why was Bert's closed?" Our guy asked and was told by Bert that he thought it was Sunday and not Monday, so he did not open up. There you have it....this is a small family place that takes a lot of care in their food and likes to sleep in now and then.

Get it to go, cuz there's no comfy seating here, but DEFINITELY get the "Yummy" sandwich. I'm not the first, and won't be the last to say, it's seriously the best of the best cured and salted meats you will ever have in your life. In.your.life . It's the kind of high quality pastrami and corned beef that will put you in a meat coma of which you hope never to wake. If you ever decide to just get the "yummy" ingredients a la carte, to put together at home, don't worry; it's a common rookie mistake. Oh it will still be good, but it will never be the same as it is when Burt's Deli lovingly prepares it for you. They seriously have the magic touch. You shouldn't be ashamed, you should just revel in its magnificence. ;) It's a little on the high side, but the sandwich is PACKED! So worth it. Also, home made delicious chicken noodle soup- when it's available, it's the closest you will get to grandma's home made chicken noodle soup. And the man behind the counter, I think it's Burt's son, is so funny and nice. He loves to give out samples- and slams! :) He's great!

Mayday...mayday...I've been transported to 1976 or 1981...I don't know for sure. A fellow named Burt ran this place from 1975 until his passing some 9 years ago but his son Ralph continues to run it the way his father did. Ralph has been by his dad's side at the deli since he was 10. Ralph tells me to try the pickled tongue sandwich. I asked him what he would make for himself after the lunch crowd slowed down and without pause, he recommended the pickled tongue sandwich. He offered me a sample which I must say was quite good but a few visits ago Ralph served me up his "Yummie" (or "Yummy", Ralph seems to have it spelled both ways) sandwich and I've been a sucker for it since. The "Yummie" is an exercise in balanced proportions, kind of like alchemy with meat and cheese. Just the right amount of hot melt in your mouth pastrami, corned beef and melted Swiss on rye. Ach. Pure gold. A little Dr. Brown's dark cherry pop, a bag of chips, those homemade pickles and yes, I'm in kosher-style heaven. Mmmmmm... Bye for now Ralph, see you next week.

I love Burt's Deli, the sandwiches are stacked high with meat... never disappointed! This is a much better choice than going to a place like The Picnic Basket in downtown Libertyville. Easy parking, friendly staff and owner and they have this sandwich called the Yummy! OMG, it is the best thing in the world.

Every visit is a pleasure. Ralph enjoys conversing with the customers and he is very personable. Customer service is great, but the food is even better. Whenever I pop in for lunch, I get the yummy that everyone raves about and for good reason. The proportions of the corned beef, pastrami, cheese, and horseradish complement each other so well. I will usually order a potato pancake to go with my sandwich, which is also very tasty. If you're a fan of chopped liver, I highly recommend that as well.

I found this place on Yelp and stopped by on a Sunday morning. It is one cute little Deli tucked on the side of a shopping mall. I ordered the Yummy Sandwich because of all the rave reviews- and it is worthy of the reviews!! I've had claimed best pastrami/corn beef sandwiches before that .. just didn't settle well with me after more than a few bites.. Their Yummy Sandwich is nearly made to perfection. You can tell they care about their deli meats. The sandwich is made with just the perfect amount of meats and flavors so that it is not too overwhelming or lacking. I will be back when in the area!! Recommendation: the Yummy Sandwich!!

I had heard about Burt's Deli for years from coworkers who raved about the corned beef and pastrami sandwiches they enjoyed from this place. I found myself on a rare solo trip out for lunch one recent weekday and decided to seek out the storied Burt's Deli. Tucked back on the side of a strip mall on busy Milwaukee Ave., Burt's is easy to miss if you don't know exactly where it is. The ambiance (IMHO) is one part vintage deli and one part old barber shop. The wood-paneled walls chock full of sun-dried pictures, quotes and newspaper clippings made this feel more like a neighborhood hangout than a deli. There were just a handful of booths for patrons (as most likely carry out), but I decided to stay with a group of mostly people in their 60's and 70's just hanging out and chatting it up. I announced that it was my first time there and was instructed by the proprietor and a few fellow patrons to try "The Yummie", the signature sandwich at Burt's. Kosher corned beef, pastrami, horseradish and deli mustard on rye. Served with three beautiful kosher pickle spears. Paired with a la carte chips and a can of soda the meal ran about $11. I initially thought that to be a bit pricey, but then considered that I'd think nothing of paying that down at Corner Bakery, Panera or one of the other upscale "sandwich bistros" around town. I was instructed to "eat it slow" and I did. The combination of ingredients seemed just right, the condiments not overpowering the meat, the meat not overwhelming the bread, etc. Just a wonderfully solid and enjoyable sandwich. I enjoyed chatting it up with the proprietor and the retirees at the next table and told them I'd definitely see them again. Truly a place with a lot of character that could be so easily missed between the fast food joints and Chinese buffets along this stretch. Check them out and try "The Yummie!"

I've been to a couple small delis around the chicagoland area (I'm originally from Joliet) and as several reviewers have mentioned, I was taken here by a friend. I'm hoping to do that for another friend soon, as this place was awesome. The owner is friendly, talkative, and tries to be amusing as he hand prepares every sandwich. It is a bit steep at $8 a pop, but I just don't care. There's sooo much meat on it, it's completely worth it. They are warmed up quickly in a micro so the meat sometimes is a little cool in the center, and warm around the outside. I don't mind this, but it seems to be about the only gripe. I've never had a dry one, as another review mentioned. In fact, the opposite held true, so mind that they don't travel well (gets soggy in the car). I'm giving it a 5 star because it's near perfection when you want a handmade sandwich. I've eaten three times there now, and I'm about to go back for a fourth. Recommend to anyone.

I crave Burt's quite often, and my wallet hates me because of it. Never has a brisket sandwich on an ordinary bun with no condiments or toppings been so amazing. I feel bad ruining the meat, so I keep it plain. I want to say it's best eaten immediately (because the meat is juicy and the bun soaks it up to create a sandwich-eaters paradise), but I've never been able to refrain for more than a few minutes from enjoying it, so I can't say for sure... While we're discussing food, the corned beef is easily the best in the burbs, and the side salads (macaroni, etc...) accompany the sandwiches nicely. The owner is always cheerful, and makes conversation while he's preparing your sandwich. As well, the women behind the counter, whom I assume are somehow related, always joke around with me, which makes it enjoyable to stop in. The only thing keeping me from giving Burt's five stars is the price. I understand they serve quality products, and I have no problem paying for them, but there are certain things that are slightly ridiculous (like $6.00 for a loaf of sliced rye bread... whaaaaat?!) So overall, the sandwiches are packed with meat, they're mouthwatering, and they're worth the price... once in a while.

Burt's Deli is not so much a restaurant or an eatery in Libertyville as much as it is an institution - a monument to delicious food and excellent customer service. I recently went in for lunch after not having been there for two years. Ralph still recognized me, remembered my name, and even remembered my order. I have never been treated with anything but total respect in all the years I have gone to Burt's. The Corned Beef is always warm and fresh, the pickles are excellent, and he even added tongue to the menu! In addition, Burt's is the only place I know of where I can get Halvah and Dr. Brown's soda within several hundred miles. If there is one slight drawback, it is that Burt's is rather on the expensive side. You will likely pay $10-$12 for your lunch, but believe you me, it is worth every penny. I go back every chance I get.

Hadn't been here in years and just made it in just before 5pm. I ordered a corned beef with mustard on rye, like I use to in the early 90's lol But they were out of rye bread and had it on wheat bread. Soooo good as I remembered, with a bag of Jays potato chips and a black cherry Doc Brown's soda... oh and can't forget the slices of pickle. Yummy Glad I made it in.

Oh Vey Boobala I am so verklempt. I was so anticipating an orgasmic corned beef experience and was really let down. I ordered a hot corned beef sandwich and it was not hot. They didn't even bother to warm the bread for 15 seconds in a microwave. The meat was too thinly sliced and was soooo DRY I had to add extra mustard. They don't even call latkes latkes, they call them potato pancakes and they were awful. Any self respecting Bubby would have tossed them in the trash and that is exactly what I did. There an offf putting flavor and certainly did not taste like potato in anyway. The chopped liver was not bad but needed to go through the grinder a few more times for my taste. I think real deli's are a thing of the past. What a waste of time and gas. It was 120 miles round trip.

Hey people of Lake County, you don't have to drive to Skokie anymore for good Jewish deli. Great chopped liver!

I selected this place for lunch based on fellow yelpers positive reviews - thank you! I came here with a coworker and we both order the "Yummie" and grabbed a booth. It is as described in other reviews; nothing updated in 30 years with exception to the coat hook made from plumbing parts. The owner is very friendly and knows his clientelle and chatted us up cuz we arrived before the lunch hour crowd. We both ordered the Yummie since it was our first visit. I ordered a Dr. Browns (again based on yelp feedback; it's kosher of course!) The sandwich, a blend of corned beef, pastrami, mustard and horserashish is simple but thoroughly enjoyable without going to excess. A sandwich and a drink - who needs more? Think I'm fickle? I enjoyed the pickle... The sandwich was accompanied by several slices from a kosher dilled pickle and I can tell you this is the best kosher dill I've had in 5 years since moving to Chicagoland. Price is the only thing holding me back a bit.. between us with two Yummies, two sodas and a bag of chips rang in over $22. You can get a lot of crap food for that price - perhaps feed a famliy.. but I can tell you it won't be of such quality. Burt's does what they do best and I applaud them for it. I might be daring and try the beef tongue sandwich next time.

A great little deli in a strip mall. Probably the best deli west of Skokie. Nice sandwiches that wont leave you hungry. Doc Brown sodas, and you can get meat and chopped liver by the pound. highly recommended if you love good Deli.

OK, a correction. Burt's Deli is owned and operated by Mitch. Burt was Mitch's Dad. Sorry. You know what happens when you 'assume' something. Yep. Anyway, I took Anita for the first time. It was my reward for bypassing all the truly, truly unhealthy food offerings at the Lake County Fair. That fried stuff, while delicious, makes corned beef and pastrami look like vitamin pills by contrast. So today I had my first Yummy. Half corned beef, half pastrami, served hot with melted cheese, horseradish and mustard on fresh seeded rye bread. Ohmigod. On death row, this would be the meal I would request. Anita had a tuna sandwich, also on rye and enjoyed it very much. Definitely white albacore. We split a macaroni salad and a diet coke and with tax were out the door for $19. And since we were heading to an early movie, being full at the movie theatre probably saved me that much on popcorn and soft drinks! Mitch is a wonderfully funny character who talks to EVERYONE non-stop. It is a place you just have to try. I don't care if you live a long ways away, if you are ever traveling up or down Milwaukee Ave. through Libertyville, you owe it to yourself to stop. He's basically open six days a week from about 11 until 4. Closed on Sunday.

I think I wait in a line every time I come and no matter what time of day but its a good thing. It's a family run business. If you want an amazing sandwich go for the Yummie. I would suggest only eating half and splitting with a friend. Its HUGE and can not be good for you in any way. My family always comes here for Christmas Eve meat and fish. They are closed on Jewish Holiday's and Sunday's.

A hidden gem! Went with some co-workers and we all agreed that they were the best sandwiches we had ever eatten. I had the "Yummie" with hot pastrami, corned beef and swiss cheese... and it was amazing. We will definitely be back again and again. The only thing I would change are the cookies, had the black and white and it tasted like iced shortbread, instead of the cakey black and whites I remember from my childhood.

I have been meaning to stop here for awhile, and finally made it in today to get lunch to go. I got a reuben, made with muenster, and it was the best reuben I have ever had. Very flavorful corned beef, and piled high. I also got a side of potato salad that was also very good and fresh. I'm giving the 5 stars though because of the customer service I saw while standing in line. The owner makes the sandwiches himself while talking with the guests, and it was obvious while I waited he knew many regulars. He also mentioned to someone that his father was Burt, so it felt nice to be in a long standing family run business. A group was wishing they could sit outside while I was waiting, and he pulled a patio table and chairs out of a closet to help them out. It felt good to see someone enjoying their business while giving great customer service, and I got a really delicious lunch. I will definitely go back to Burt's.

Mmmmmmmm!!!!!! A friend of mine at work introduced me to this little gem. I'm Irish, but not usually too fond of corned beef. But for her, I tried it. I got a corned beef sandwich with provolone cheese on an onion roll. It was DELICIOUS!!!!! I've been back quite a few more times after that for the same thing. The person who made the sandwich, probably the owner, is sooo nice too. They even accept checks. You gotta check this place out! It's easy to miss from the street, it's behind Baker's Square in the strip mall.

We used to sneak away at lunch to here from Carmel High School for the best pastrami sandwiches. They are amazing and Burt's deli is definitely a Libertyville Hidden Treasure.

Wow, one of the best deli's I've been to. Went here only based on recommendations on Yelp. This is what I would imagine New York real deli should look. It is a small place with a refrigerated case and 4 booths, very utilitarian, nothing fancy. We ordered the Pastrami, which was very good, one of the better pastrami's I've had. The brisket was thin sliced and very good as well, although I usually prefer it thick sliced. The potato salad was good, I've had better , but I did like it. The guys behind the counter were really friendly , and seemed to really take pride in the food here. They even sold us on their chopped liver, which we originally had no intention of buying. After offering us a sample, we bought a pound, very good. We also picked up some sliced corned beef to go, and boy is it good. I cannot see how I would not return here , this is officially my Jewish Deli in the Northern burbs until I find someplace better.

This place has been here since the 70s and I am upset that I just found out about it 5yrs ago! The first time I came in I had the Hot Corned Beef sandwich and it was delicious. Second time around I had the Pastrami and fell in love with it. For the past couple years I come here just for the hot Pastrami. Its amazing, excellent flavor and extremely juicy! I have never been disappointed with a sandwich from here. With a little horseradish and mustard and melted cheese the sandwich is amazing. The place is kind of hidden on the side of a strip mall. The interior probably has not changed since the 70s or 80s but I think thats one of the best qualities. This place is a must try when you want a sandwich with minimal bread and stacked meat!

What a great find!! This small Jewish deli is amazing! I just walked in after dropping our dog for grooming next door and wanted to check out the menu. The owners realized I was a "first timer" and insisted on me to try out slice of corned beef and pastrami. It was amazing. I decided to get a turkey and pastrami sandwich and my family loved it. I will be back.. Again and again. P.S to owners- to make it a true Jewish deli, I would love to see you carry the real Jewish bagels ( like the ones available in Skokie).

Low quality ingredients. They use french's yellow mustard, and really cheep cheese similar to kraft singles cheese product. Completely ruined the sandwich. The place is a Jewish deli, or maybe Jewish-ish. French's yellow mustard on pastrami and rye!!!!

The Yummy was nothing short of it's name!!!! This cozy little deli was a nice surprise to find nestled in between the HUGE box stores that are lining the streets of Milwaukee Ave these days. Now, normally I wouldn't stray too far from the likes of numerous Jewish delis in the Northbrook/Deerfield/Highland Park area. But a Pastrami & Corned Beef sammy served with melted cheese and a perfectly spiced horseradish sauce will catch my attention every time. The sandwich was delicious, no doubt. Everything is served nice and hot, including even the rye bread which I found interesting that they heat the bread up in the microwave to soften it up and allow you to take a bite into the perfectly cooked and seasoned meats. I have to say it was really a perfect blend of meat to cheese to mustard and horseradish sauce. The horseradish is definitely spicy so beware if you don't like a hot horse!!! Four stars bc my only slight issue is the size of the sandwich. Again, the ingredients worked perfectly together, but for almost twelve bucks, it could perhaps be a tad bit bigger. Now I know why they tell you to savor every bite...I'm still a bit hungry and wishing I had another sandwich :)

The best Deli. I discovered Burt's Deli some 30 years ago. My wife and I go their at least once a week for lunch. Great corned beef, pastrami, turkey, salami, lox and soups. Ralph is great and always makes you feel welcome.

Had to go to Condell hospital today (boo) so looked for a restaurant for lunch and landed on Burt's (yay). Without too much irony the yummy is...well...yummy. If you enjoy a classic Jewish type deli sandwich with authentic corned beef and pastrami, give this a try, it's amazing. Can't find anything in the surrounding area that even comes close to matching a really good deli experience.

Nothing beats a Yummy! Be sure to ask for it. The best Lake County deli north of Route 22.

THE best! It's a real deli, with excellent food! With every bite, I'm transported back to the classic east coast deli I worked in while in college. If you have a hankering for pastrami, or corned beef, or chicken noodle soup.... Don't hesitate! Go!

To me, Burts Deli is more of an old-fashioned kind of place. When you walk in there's nothing shiny or brand-new or commercialized. When you walk in you know you're going to get some great food because it looks like it's been there for many decades. There's salami hanging from the ceiling and all sorts of great sayings and signs hanging on the wall's. We got the infamous "yummy" and it was a delicious sandwich. The yummy is a combination of corn beef and pastrami. It's served hot with a creamy melted cheese on top. The only downfall was the bread, a quality Ryebread, did fall apart a little bit because the meat was so juicy and succulent. But still delicious none the less. There's definitely some fun quirkiness with the husband-and-wife duo ... But it's all friendly just the same.
