Excellent spicy beef salad, decent spring rolls, wonderful panang curry. I love that they'll add vegetables for free.

Every other Asian food I've had in the Aurora area has been seriously disgusting. The Pad Thai here is amazing. Everything I've ordered has been great. Big portions too. I ate my last order of Pad Thai for 2 and a half large meals last time. I can't speak about the service, I only do carry out. Get extra peanut sauce... the food doesn't need it, but it's amazing.

This has been one of my favorite Naperville/Aurora/Fox Valley area Thai restaurants for several years. I've never had the poor service experience of the other two reviewers and have always found the place clean and the service from owners very personable. The food is good, especially the Panang Noodles with chicken or beef (both are great), a dish they make with wide rice noodles that are great. One unique item is the fried banana & sweet potato appetizer. I've never had a complaint about anything on the menu.

I tried this place for the first time yesterday and whenever I try a new Thai restaurant, I always get the Thai Beef Salad. Their beef salad was very good. In fact, I would say one of the best I've had since being back in the Chicagoland area. The only downfall is they could have given more beef. Out of all of the different places I have been to, their's had the least amount of beef. The decor was very nice and bright. I really loved the pictures of the orchids they had on the walls.

Red curry is really well made. Not too spicy either! Definitely recommending this place to anyone who likes Thai fare!

Tonight I had the good fortune of trying Thai Orchid for the very first time. The meal our party of three enjoyed was hands down the best Thai food I have ever enjoyed. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall on Eola Road that, if you are not familiar with the area, you may not be aware of. There is plenty of parking and it is in a very clean, safe part of town. When you first walk in you will find a cozy, casual, adorable, family-run environment. It is a calm, quiet place to enjoy dinner or lunch (there is also take-out available). We were greeted by as well as seated by one of the owners and his oh-so-mannerly son. The three of us shared appetizers: Chicken Satay with a peanut sauce and cucumber salad (chicken so tender it nearly fell off the skewers and an impeccable peanut sauce), and Vegetarian Egg Rolls filled with cellophane noodles and vegetables served with sweet & sour sauce (the rolls were crisp and cut up easily, the sauce delectably balanced its combination). All vegetables were noticeably fresh -- each ingredient was distinguishable from the next yet came together in a tremendous melange served together. We then shared a Spicy Beef Salad (tender medium-rare grilled beef topped with chopped chili, cilantro so fresh you can't help but taste it, and garlic in a tasty lime sauce). The beef was remarkably tender, and the garlic was tasteful without being overpowering. After that our order of Pad Thai (we chose chicken as the meat) arrived and we were utterly delighted. I elected for the Spicy Basil Noodle (again, we chose chicken) topped with broccoli, bamboo shoots (a first for me and they were a delight), and basil leaves in a special house spicy gravy sauce. The basil truly stood out in this dish and was, at the risk of repeating myself, remarkably fresh tasting. The crown jewel of the meal, however, was the Panang Curry (again, we elected for chicken) simmered in coconut milk with peanut butter, bell peppers, and sprinkled with spiced kaffir leaves. Throughout the evening all three of us eventually mixed everything on the table in the curry sauce. It was utterly spectacular. We all agreed that we would happily take a bowl of it home and enjoy it as a soup of its own! Lastly, our server, the son of the owner and cook, brought out dessert: Banana in sweet coconut milk. My mother is not a fan of warm banana dishes so I went to down on the bowl (served piping hot). It seemed to taste more of plantain than banana, but this did not matter because it was just so darn delicious. The other owner/cook, Pim came out after our meal was completed. A polite, energetic, and lovely woman explained how she cooks in the restaurant the very same as she does in her home, and I have no doubt in my mind about that -- every single dish we ate tasted of fresh ingredients with home-cooked zest. If you enjoy Thai food then make sure you stop by Thai Orchid as soon as possible.

Good for takeouts but not for dining in. If you're craving for thai food this is the nearest option within a 5 mile radius from Aurora near Eola and Montgomery crossing. Both times I ordered here, food took some time to prepare, but what we liked here the most is the chicken satay and the penang curry. Pad thai is ok. Only advice is order ahead.

Food: 5 stars! Service and availability: 2-3 stars =4 stars I simply cannot give Thai Orchid less than 4 stars. The food is incredible, but the other details are what threw me off. In terms of food, I had been here once before but couldn't remember many details. This time, I remembered! We started with Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon and the Cucumber Salad (the salad is the only thing I remember from years ago). I'd pass on the Spring Rolls next time: super crunchy with not enough filling for me. I'd prefer an egg roll...or, just two orders of Crab Rangoon. Holy crap!! The BEST CR I've ever had, hands-down. I've never had a Cucumber Salad so delicious, either. I like that they give you the sauce on the side, so you can add as much as you want. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. Next time, I'll pass on the chicken. They don't add much, and I love tofu, so I'd likely order veggie next time. Albeit, the flavor is great. Request extra sauce, if you're a saucy fan, because it's a stingy amount. I've read a few reviews saying that the serving sizes aren't great. I have no clue what these people are talking about. THREE MEALS LATER, I was done with the Pad Thai. It's a huge order, just stingy on the sauce and protein. Now to the service: if it weren't for Yelp, I wouldn't have been able to order my take-out! The website is expired, and there's no where to find a menu at all. When I called, an American girl answered and I explained this, only for me to learn that the "owners don't do online stuff, but I'll give you a menu when you pick-up." When I arrived, there was a young boy hanging out inside, and I waited for several minutes at the front area. I could hear voices, but no one came to help me. I finally asked the boy if I should knock on the "Employees Only" door, and he said no and got them. Odd experience. Nonetheless, I was pleased with the food and can't wait to eat there again!

I've been to this place a couple times, however, tonight's visit has completely turned me away, and you should steer clear too! I had ordered a couple meals, soup, and appetizers. Everything smelled great and I was looking forward to some Thai. My partner and I were eating the vegetable egg rolls... when something felt chewy... and I pulled some plastic wrapper material out of my mouth. I was disgusted to the point of dry heaving. I called the store immediately to inform them, and I was shocked at the response. The owner said that sometimes this happens, where the plastic wrapper sticks to the noodles they use. I was appalled! Then they said we can bring the egg rolls back for new ones. I told them no, I was disgusted and didn't want more egg rolls. They then wanted to offer egg rolls for free the next time I went there. I'm sorry, no, I just ate plastic... I then told them I wanted credit for the meal. They said the only way they'd refund is if I'd bring the food back. I was annoyed that I had to drive back. I showed the owner the plastic, he immediately said he didn't need an explanation, and then proceeded to go through every container to verify I brought it all back?! I'm sorry, I was very insulted, and will NEVER return to this place again.

I used to go to this place a lot when it first opened because I lived right down the street. The cashew beef was always my favorite, so I decided to order it for pickup a few weeks ago seeing as I live further away now. I'm sad to say that the quality is not what it used to be, my friend's food wasn't that great either. I'm not completely ruling them out because I remember how good it used to be, but I was definitely disappointed.

I tried them for the first time over a year ago, and was pleasantly surprised. The food is absolutely 5 star. I rated them 4 due to the portions they give vs. the amount they charge. Any place in Chicago (GOOD places) have hearty sized portions for Thai. This place doesn't really. They have good noodle sized portions for the price ( I still think slightly over priced for Thai, but it is really good so I'm willing to flip) .. BUT, all of their curry portions are ABYSMALLY too small. That's coming from a 125 lb girl people. I can eat two of the curry portions. A guy could go three or four; and now you're looking at nearly $20-40 for one real portion of curry; $10 each. (unless you use ALL of the rice, which I don't like) In any case, I still flip for it bc it is that good. Which makes me slightly sour every time I order, because they totally have me and it irritates me. LOL! But if you're looking for a solid and consistent experience, try it. You 100% will not be disappointed. You just might end up a begrudging customer like myself... : )

Used to like this place. Been going here since they opened. Tried the panang curry, my usual here, and it was terrible. Not sure if they have new owners as I've not been here in a while. It was plenty spicy, the way I like it, but was lacking in flavor and the chicken and vegetables seems old and rank. The curry just tasted like curry paste and water.

I just dont get it...ive ordered food there three times now and each time there was not a single person eating there whatsoever. This during dinner times including saturday evenings. Its like the twilight zone. The only person there is a young child playing vid games on a small tv on a corner table. Super weird. The food is decent for a thai joint in a small city. The young girls that work the counter dont seem to know anything about thai food though and i had to explain what i was ordering. Lame. After also saying medium spicy like five times and verifying it when i picked up the food it turned out she still wrote down mild on the order and the food we got home was bland and mild. I checked the handwritten order in the bag and indeed she wrote "mild". Lame again.....not sure well go back. Likely look for a new thai place. I have no idea how they stay open with no people eating there. Oh also once we ordered pad se eew only to find they didnt have the needed wide noodles and instead used skinny pad thai type noodles. Lame.

Had Thai Orchid for the first time tonight and it was amazing! Best Thai food I've ever had! Panang curry was spicy and delicious. Satay chicken with peanut sauce was perfect. The closest to authentic my boyfriend has had and he grew up in Malaysia. Dangerous that this place is so close to our house because we'll be going there often!
(5)Dan D.
Great Thia food. Love the pad Thai, Yellow Curry Chicken and Thai fried rice. We exclusively order take out or delivery. Not really staffed for a dining in.
(5)Bill N.
Good for the lunch special carryout......poor service when dining in and tables often left uncleared

I have eaten at this restaurant almost every few weeks for the last 7 years and have usually had very good meals until last night. We walked in at 7:30 on Saturday night, the place was empty and the tables were filthy. We had to wait until the high school girls decided to stop talking and actually clean a table before we could sit down. Since we have eaten here many times, we figured it was just the inexperience of the wait-staff. We should have known better. Even after sitting down, we were not given any water, the plates were not put out and no silverware or napkins were put on the table. The girls were behind the counter talking and ignoring us. When one of them finally came over and offered us a menu (note I said "a menu" when there were two of us), I knew we were dealing with complete idiots. Still no water, plates or napkins. Finally, after at least 5 minutes one of the girls eventually made her way over to our table. Remember we were the only ones in the place. I asked to get a can of Pepsi and we proceeded to order the Satay, the Pad Thai and the fried sweet potato. This is the same thing we usually order every other time we have been here. Still no offer of water, plates or napkins. A couple of minutes later, I had to as again for the Pepsi. I had a bad headache and really wanted something to drink. I then had to ask for water. Now I am getting pissed off. Still no napkins, silverware or plates. Shortly after that, one of the girls asked if we wanted everything we ordered together or if we wanted the appetizer of satay and sweet potato first. Huh? I guess she hasn't ever been told of the meaning of an appetizer. When the satay came out it was presented as usual so I started to eat it. It turned out to be totally undercooked, almost raw. The worst thing you can do in a restaurant is serve raw chicken. I asked the server to return the dish to the kitchen and to have them make me a completely new dish that was properly cooked. No apology or comment, just a bored "okay". While I was waiting for the satay to be redone, the pad thai was delivered. It had absolutely no flavor and the noodles were chewy, not the way the many previous dinners I have had there had been. The satay was finally delivered and it was okay. No comments, no apologies and certainly no comment from the cook. Oh yeah, we finally got our glasses of water after I pointed out that it would be really nice to have something to drink. We also asked for a couple of knives and were given one to share? Needless to say we decided to skip the rest of the meal, paid the check and walked out. I don't know what the owners of this place were thinking when they hired those two girls and I am not sure where the usual chef was, but based on this experience I don't think this restaurant is going to be around much longer. I know I am going to tell everyone I know to avoid it which is a shame because it used to be a really nice place to eat. It will be a long time before any of my friends and I ever walk back in this place. One bad meal, dozens of lost customers. Not a good way to operate if you want to stay in business.

So yummy! Always great food! If u want super accessible Thai food try the chicken satay or pad Thai. The pineapple fried rice is also delicious. I really love the Tom Kha soup. It sounds strange but I love the oniony coconut rich spiced broth with veggies and chicken. My only complaint is the long delivery time about 50 min and I live one mile away. Other than that awesome!

One night, my bf and I were in a situation where we were stuck at home without any transportation. We were in the mood for some Thai, and would you believe that on a Saturday night, out of the five that we called, only two delivered? And out of those two, Thai Orchid was the only one that had a delivery guy working. Unfortunately, Thai Orchid had been our last choice, since we had picked up food from there previously and felt it was just alright. No big improvements this time either. I'm a sucker for Pad Thai, and I felt that the noodles were burnt and the dish overall was not impressive. At our house, delivery leftovers are usually gone within the next 24 hours, so its pretty telling that it sat in the fridge for a few days before being tossed. The crab rangoon was great. They give ample amounts of dipping sauce (and its not the kind that comes in a packet!) and it is delicious. Also, the delivery was fast, and when we called them because they forgot our pop, they came back super fast...They HAD to have stopped at a convenient store instead of driving all the way back to pick it up from the restaurant, which I appreciate.

My family has ordered here before. Food is pretty good. We have never been there, just delivery. So I was on their site, placed my order, hung up and realized I forgot to mention the "free chicken fried rice if order is over $35" coupon on their site. So I called back and wasn't exactly sure what the total was. The same guy said he would add it up...."yeah it's free, I'll take it off your bill". Food comes and I'm looking at this non itemized receipt thinking it was a little high. Yeah, they charged me for it. No big deal I'll call back and he will take it off my bill, right? The same guy immediately got very defensive and told me our bill wasn't over $35 so he had to charge me for it. I told him I called back, talked to him and he said it was free. He asked what I wanted him to do about it. I said to take it off the bill. He said the delivery guy will have to come back and pick up the rice. Really??? I told him if he doesn't make this right I will never order there again and write a bad review. He told me to order somewhere else and to do what I want. So here ya go, big guy. I hope it was worth it.

We ordered carry out from Thai Orchid last week and had food delivered last night. We have been happy with the food on both occasions. Both times we ordered Chicken Panang Curry and Cashew Chicken. I would recommend both of these dishes. Love the fact that they deliver.
(4)Madelyn H.
I love Thai food and was craving panang. So when I found the website for this place I was so happy. We ordered a few things first the satay was good, not the best I have ever had but the peanut sauce was very tasty. The crab rangoons were very good with or without the sauce. The panang was also good, I will be getting it again. The thing that I enjoyed the most was the spicy beef salad. Now I have never tried this anywhere so I can not compare it to other places but it was so good! This I will order again and again! Plus the people were so nice!
(4)Ray R.
Not likening it at all. The prices have gone up, the quality and quantity has come down and more irritatingly, the attitude is getting worse! They are never open in time for lunch and the take out quality is not that great any more. The dine-in, I have not used very since my last terrible experience. The good news is that there are better Thai places now in the area!
(2)Frank P.
Not my first choice for Thai food. Whenever I did eat their food, it was always take out. Decent prices in a small small community locale.
(3)K. S.
Delicious and fresh food. Great service and fair prices. I'll be back.
(5)Bryan S.
My wife love their fry rice. You get good food at a very cheap price. They cater more for takeout but they have a small dining room.
(4)Hayley H.
The pot-stickers were good, crispy, with a great dipping sauce. Idk, I don't like their Chicken Pad Thai, due to the fact it has a small amount of chicken and very little vegetables. If you like just noodles, this is for you. Really it just scratched an itch one hungover Sunday morning. I will probably go there 1000 times because its the closest Thai around. Any suggestions about what else I should try?
(3)Sassy D.
My family and I visited this restaurant last month after searching for a nearby Thai restaurant. This place has AMAZING food. The place isn't fancy, but most places tht aren't "Beautiful in the outside" always have the best food. We've been back several times since then. Great Thai food! I highly recommend this place. I recommend... * Chicken Spring Rolls * pot stickers * Pad Thai * Garlic beef (phenomenal -- highly recommend this dish) * Shrimp Panang Curry (if you like it spicy like I do) * Chicken Red Curry * Veggie Frid Rice (amazing!)
(5)Emmalee G.
Amazing food. I have to say that sometimes the best restaurants are the local mom and pop joints. This restaurant is one of them. The food is excellent and the portions are HUGE. I have been here several times and it never disappoints. I usually order the Pad Se Ew( I think that's how it's spelled) I always order with extra veggies. AMAZING. I don't like spicy and this dish is almost sweet. I have also tried the coconut and almond chicken. Everything from here is great. Way better than Chinese.
(5)Food J.
Service is HORRIBLE. These guys don't have any clue on how restaurant should be operated. It is a family owned ( which usually is a good thing ) however, the food is not bad but the Owner treats his customers like he doesn't want them there. No wonder people do pickups a lot but even that I heard him say on the phone while we were eating that you did not order that and you are lying. "You have to pay extra for your order " WHAT ? ???? NEVER AGAIN !!!!!
(1)Dave B.
I've been looking for this place for a long time and finally found it further south on Eola. The place was pretty clean and cozy. I ordered my old stand by, Basil Beef. Unfortunately, it was made with hamburger! That's a total turn off to me and a deal breaker. I ordered it spicy, which it wasn't. I'm sure many of the residents of the area love the fact that they can get "Thai" food delivered, so that's probably a good thing. However, if you want a more savory experience, try Montri Thai in Warrenville or Somsri in Winfield. They have never disappointed.
(2)Sanja M.
Wonderful food! Every single dish on the menu is super flavorful. What a nice family owned restaurant!
(5)M K.
I ordered food from Thai Orchid and they told me it would be here in 45 minutes. An hour later, they called me and told me that my address was outside of their delivery zone, but that I could come pick it up if I wanted. No thanks. Horrible customer service. I will never even think about ordering from here again.
(1)Supriya D.
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and while the food is good, unfortunately we have noticed a decline in the quality. The portions and prices are both fair, and the family who owns this restaurant is very kind and hospitable. However, some of the entrees have just not had the same flavorings that we loved them for. We think the chef may have changed, but who knows. The food is by no means bad, but it is just average. I will say though that their new chicken egg rolls are amazing!
(3)Faiza A.
While the food was quite tasty, the service was poor. Perhaps this place is more accustomed to take out orders. The owner waited on us in the beginning, but once the two teenyboppers came in to begin their shift, he was nowhere to be seen. We were not asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. A couple times we had to ask for extra napkins. The teenyboppers appear to be unfamiliar with Thai food. I would possibly go back but only for take out!
(3)CupcakeFace X.
Good food - Decent prices But there have been times when I've tried to go for lunch and they weren't open when they are supposed to be. If it had happened only once, I would have chalked it up to a family emergency, but I know for sure it's been twice but may have been a third when I tried calling and there was no answer. I believe it's a family that owns it and there has been a child running around once or twice that I've been there. Understandable if you're short child care once - but unprofessional when it's been a few times...
(3)Carolyn M.
Just wanted to note that we have been getting take out here several times a month and they NEVER disappoint! The freshness and quality of the food is impeccable and the staff always friendly and prompt! I feel the portions are generous and the prices are comparable and fair! I have read other reviews where someone who normally loved the place had ONE bad experience and therefore refuses to go back??? EVERYONE has an "off" night, so it's not really fair to judge a place that for years has been excellent and one bad night and your calling it quits???? We love the food here and will keep going as long as they are open!
(5)Tricia T.
Love this place! I'm pretty limited in what I order.... chicken pad thai, edamame, crab ragoon.... but it's great! Quick service too and very friendly staff.
(5)Todd h.
Consistently good to great food - with a little variability. We have eaten there many times. The fried sweet potatoes and bananas are addictive. The Pad Khee Mao has awesome flavor and that just right spice level where you are wondering if you should eat more because your tongue is doing a slow burn. only consistent complaint is that take out is usually done 10-15 minutes after the estimate given over the phone.
