Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is a good lunch stop with a pretty big menu. The enchiladas were very good, and the salsa was fresh and had something of a bite. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of the dishes that I have never had. Lots of parking on the street right outside of the door because of bridge construction. $19 for lunch for two.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! They have authentic recipes, and delicious flavors. Great chips & dips while waiting for your food, and their rice & beans are my absolute favorite. I've been here several times over the years, and they've never disappointed me, not once.

This was a good indicator...I walked in and ordered three "Al Pastor" tacos for the highway. The bill was $7.11. Damn, I needed to run down to the Aurora Casino and throw some dice with those numbers The fact that you can watch the homemade corn tortillas cook, blister & bubble on the flat top grill is impressive. That makes everything that much better! The Al Pastor served here is absolutely unique in flavor, and yes, you may find a chunk of fat in your taco!

I had high hopes for this place but would not eat here again. The guacamole was 'cut' with sour cream, and I hate that. The huevos mexicanas were cooked hard and had zero onions in them, only peppers and tomatoes. The beans were very dissapointing, they tasted like canned. The margarita tasted strongly like lime aid. None of the salsas were particularly tasty, although they tried as 3 were provided: a green, a red, and an enchilada style.

If you are looking for no-frills Authentic Mexican Food, this place is great, the Tortillas are home made and hand pressed, I could make a meal just from the tortillas. All the food had a Grandma's favorite recipe taste to it! I will be back for more when the craving for Mexican hits again. Many of Mexican restaurants in Aurora, this one is as close to being in small town Mexico as it gets. Don't drink, so I did not try the Bar.

Had the combo. #41. Excellent so much food, could hardly finish. The waitress was great. Tried the guacamole as recommend by another review and I will second that recommendation, really great taste for such a reasonable price.

Grew up in Aurora and have tried many places - this one is among the best.

I had the Flautas, my wife had the Enchiladas. Both meals were served hot and together. The plates were presented very nice. The food was tasty and plentiful. We certainly will return.

Went in for breakfast once, and lunches and a rare dinner. Good, authentic, and tasty. The place is mostly booths, definitely average decor inside but the food is steamy hot and spicy enough. They also do the Aurora festivals with a simplified menu. That fare is excellent, They usually have a line at their tent. I always get in that line during the festivals. If I ever needed a catered event with Mexican food I'd call them first.

We have been going here for years. This our go to because every time we walk away with a smile :). The family that runs this are super nice and welcoming. My choice is standard steak tacos and they crush others around.

Went for lunch with a few co-workers when we all had a craving for a good burrito. We were not let down. The steak burrito was not too greasy like several other local places, and the steak had a nice, but not overpowering, flavor to it. Overall the atmoshpere was not bad, the service was friendly and the burrito was a good size.

Great Mexican food! Stop in once every few weeks. Large servings for the price. I stop by the North Aurora location, too. I recommend giving them a try if you need a good taco.

Best Mexican restaurant in Aurora. Hands down. (And there's lots of competition.) Not the fanciest or most expensive. Just great food and good, friendly service. I've been eating here for many years and have never been disappointed.

I live in Aurora and this is my favorite restaurant. I love Mexican food, and they get it right every time. We eat here as a family usually once a week. I usually order veggie tacos or huevos rancheros (the best). Also good are the cheese enchiladas, avocado torta, and burritos. They have the best salsa hands down. Great place to feed the family inexpensively; good service, but can be slow if they are unexpectedly busy.

Let me start correcting the address since I looked all over for it and I couldn't find it, the correct address is: 35 S Broadway Aurora IL 60506 It's right on the corner or Broadway and Downer St. The service here is really good and all the servers are bilingual which is really nice since my family speaks more English than Mexican even though I'm Mexican, Food; I order Birria and its is the best one I had so far here in aurora, all the other places cooked their meet aside the broth of the dish and then they added together this place does it all together and it chafes the flavor to be delicious authentic dish and the meat its a lot more tender, their size of this dish is smaller than the other restaurants but definitely worth to try it they also have homemade corn tortillas but they make them with yellow corn that usually has a stronger smell than the regular white corn( if you are Mexican or know something about cooking Mexican food you'll understand what I'm talking about) I do not particularly care for them but they also have flour tortillas that are better than the corn, overall it's a really nice small place with good food and great service, I recommend it to try it.

We wanted nearby, and we wanted cheap. Tacos + downtown Aurora = a sure bet! I came here with my parents on a Saturday afternoon. Despite the mostly Hispanic presence, menus are in both English & Spanish, and our waitress spoke very clear English. Don't fear, my gringos and gringas! This casual diner serves legit, authentic Mexican food. It's family owned, which is clear from the second the young boy dropped off chips & salsa at our table. The steak tacos, with cilantro & onion (of course!) and the chile relleno were fantastic. I can't explain how the salsas took the flavors to a whole new level. Chips and salsa are complimentary, and this salsa is the BEST salsa I've had at any Mexican establishment. The salsa was made of freshly chopped tomatoes, onions, jalapeno, and cilantro, and wasn't watery at all. It was definitely muy caliente, my dad had tears in his eyes. Food here is super cheap. The 3 of us ate well for less than $30. There's a lot of street parking available, which is super convenient if you need to take it to-go. There are a lot of places to get tacos in Aurora, but I'm not sure any of them can beat Tecalitlan.

First, there are two Yelp pages for this Resturant, Yelp needs to fix this!! Second, delicious! Another excellent Aurora location, only the parking causes an issue. I happened to need to visit my bank branch which is fewer and fewer than ATMs, and I was hungry. This place has been on the friend's radar for awhile but we never made it there...I'm driving past and TaDa!! First parking place available! It was only a Pork Tostada but that is a critical dish! Perfect crunch on shell, delicious al Pastor, fresh avocado slices...who needs more?!? With a drink $5.75...a perfect lunch!
