Sat out on the patio and watched the river. The Margs on the rocks were very good. They have a serve prepare the salsa right at your table to your liking. We even had a Mariachi Band come out and play Sabor a Mi to us.

This was about the worst restaurant meal I've ever had in my life. I had been enthused to since I'm a local and I've seen the place for years and heard good things. I love Mexican food, too. My experience at La Quinta de los Reyes was aweful, though. In fact my visit there was in March earlier this year, but the food still sticks in my mind months later as being so disgusting. Never ever again.

Came here on a nice 70 degree evening to have dinner on their large patio only to find out they hadn't opened yet this season. A little disappointed but oh well, we got a table near the window and a nice park/river view. I started with a pomegranate margarita which was tasty, not super fresh though as I would expect from a Mexican restaurant. A sweet lady in authentic Latina dress pushed a cart around with ingredients to make salsa and guacamole from scratch. We ordered the guacamole and she mixed it up right there at our table with a mortar and pestle. It was good and fresh but it did require a cash tip for her services. As for out entree, we got La Parrillada de La Quinta (pictured) which was awesome!! It was a huge and had hearty portions of steak, chicken, pork, sausage & veggies. It also came with a side of refried beans and the normal veggies (lettuce, pico, more guac). We had enough for 2 of us to eat it for dinner and the next day for both breakfast! Only $39.99 for the 2-person serving. The server was a little slow and it was incredibly warm in there as the kitchen is in the middle of the room. On the other hand, it's kind of neat to get a behind the scenes peek into the food prep.

I went here for the first time a few days ago and really enjoyed my meal! The restaurant has a very authentic feel to it and my beef chimichanga was probably one of the best I've ever had. I like that they make the salsa on the spot, but I will say that they were a little pushy with trying to get you to order guacamole which was kind of weird. I also want to include that my boyfriend ordered the enchiladas, which I tried and was pretty unimpressed by due to how bland they tasted. Regardless of the couple of hiccups that we experienced, I can't wait to go back and try more!

Let me start off by saying that the salsa is amazing! That is one of the reasons I've been here twice! Other than that, the service is mediocre and the food is bad. Yes, even the lady making the salsa has an attitude, specially if you don't order the guacamole. I ordered the enchiladas the first time, they were tough and salty. My second time there, I had the burrito suizo and it was really bland. If I have to go there next time, I will just stick to the chips and salsa and hopefully the salsa lady will be in a good mood.

Great, fun place! Your very own salsa artist will help kick off your eating experience at La Quinta. Dream up a salsa, and have a professional mix it at your table... my suggestion: try garlic in your guacamole. Margaritas are fantastic, and they have a great selection of tequilas. Food is great! And, the catering is unbelievable. I've been to a ton of networking events, catered by La Quinta, and the food is always the center of conversation. Highly recommend La Quinta de los Reyes if you want some of the best Mexican food in the Fox Valley area.

I will start with this was the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at, if you need more I will proceed. The salsa, made on a rolling cart was warm and gross, the flavor was ok, but I couldn't get past the temperature and what seemed like sloppy tomato skins in it. Not to mention the salsa lady rolling her eyes at me when I turned down the guacamole also made from the same cart. The huge menu was overwhelming and I was surprised at the prices. In the end our portion was HUGE so maybe that is where the price comes from. The servers were not very apt to help newcomers and for some reason we had two servers so of course I have no idea what happened to my tip. After flipping through the menu several times we decided to split a 2 person fajita plate. One plus for this restaurant was that we told the server that we did not want any cilantro in our meal, when the meal was delivered they had separated anything with cilantro, my mom enjoyed the dinner, but how hard is it to screw up cooking meat with no seasoning and veggies? The portion was ginormous, I asked our server to clarify that it was only for two people and he said the 4 person meal was actually double what we had. This was not an enjoyable meal and I guess I should have known that when we walked in at 5 on a Wednesday and there were only two other tables.

Got a groupon to give this place a shot. Went on a Monday when it was snowing so it wasn't busy there was only 2 tables with people. It was cold inside even moved tables. The waitress could care less about giving us great service since it was 2 couples and 2 kids they automatically get their 15% gratuity. Ordered the appetizer sampler platter, well worth it. Came with wings, taquitos, quesadillas, beans sour cream and guacamole. If you order horchata to drink better limit your sips. They don't offer free refills,very disappointed. Our waitress took almost 8 mins to get 3 horchatas a pop and a water. Salsa is made fresh but lacks flavor not spicy at all.The lady in the cart that made it was not in a good mood that night. We turn down her guacamole only to still get charged $3.99. Had to let the waitress know to get it taken off our tab. For dinner we ordered the parilla, well worth it. Lots of meat. Can't go wrong with it. Fresh tortillas and a small serving of beans come with it. We enjoyed it. Except it took. Almost 30 min to get to our table. Mind you we were the only ones there by then. Waitress came to ask for refills only once after we had to call her over. I had to walk over to the bar to ask for my check and for a To go box. Since she never brought it to us. There was no music to make the vibe better. I doubt we will be going back. The groupon did save me $20 but there's better places to go like Panchos restaurant up the street.

Nice small bar to come to with friends. The music is great and you see people of all ages come here to drink, dance and just have a good time! Music is a mixture mostly Spanish but variety of songs. Haven't ate at the actual restaurant downstairs but might eventually :-)

Very good dinner on a Saturday night on their outside, uncovered patio in back. Awesome place to have some fajitas, beer buckets and margaritas. The homemade salsa is terrific, can be über hot if you ask for it. The guacamole was okay, super fresh though. I had the shrimp and steak fajitas and they were good. Everyone else also liked their food. Really good service from Edgar, who had no trouble servicing our party of sixteen adults and children. He didn't even bat an eye at us paying the single bill with about eight credit cards. Overall, very good option for Aurorans and those in-town for an event at the Paramount. Not many options downtown on the weekend, but this is one, regardless of how iffy you might think it looks from the outside. We will definitely be back.

I enjoy coming here on special occasions with my family. Valentine's day dia de la Virgin de Guadalupe. . Our anniversary and the food takes some time but its delicious. If your on a budget go to the corner store mexican food tjis is a bit higher end but with the price in my opinion. The seafood is fresh and tasty. The parillada de los Reyes is the best. Also the parillada de marisco...seafood is OMG,.. the hand made salsa and guacamole but a lady dressed in traditional Mexican clothing is a nice touch.. Don't forget to tip her. .. she earned it...

We ate here for lunch before a musical nearby. Given that there was not much open on a sunday afternoon, this place had a lot of draw as far as offering lunch at all. pros: The service was friendly and prompt. The table side guac and salsa was very good. The shrimp fajitas were huge and had a good amount of shrimp. It was drenched in a tomato based sauce that was different than I expected but also fairly tasty. Cons: The ambiance was strange. Stuck behind the open kitchen/bar type area it felt industrial. There was a movie playing on the tv and the sound of the movit playing overhead. I would prefer music. The vegetarian options were pretty low compared to other Mexican restaurants. The menu overall seems more pricey as well, and I did not feel the taste matched the increased price level.

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. We're from out of town and went there for dinner. Interesting menu and most importantly, different than anything we've had anywhere else. Enjoyed the guac made table side as well as the salsa. Ordered the mussel appetizer - a bit salty but certainly different. Everything was tasty and the service was very good. The atmosphere the restaurant the view is beautiful. Now, when when it comes to the food it was a horrible experience. Their Reyes platter. Was a bunch of goulash, just put on a plate. I paid $69 for a couple strips of chicken,steak mini shrimp,that weren't even deveined, slices of sausage and some Al Pastor meet with just cheese on top and onions. No rice or enough sides for, 4 adults. The tortillas were homemade but the corn smelled spoiled. (I would know how spoiled corn smells cause I used to work at a tortilla factory as a teenager). The margaritas were okay! This is definitely a restaurant with mediocre food that just attracts Caucasian friendly people. There flautas are made in the morning and then when you're ready to eat they're refried; including putting your plate into a microwave. Such a beautiful restaurant with such crappy food. People chimichangas, burritos with cheese on top that's not authentic Mexican food! La Quinta de Los Reyes, Chicago has definitely way better tasting food.

I love this restaurant the quite lunch atmosphere is very relaxing and my waitress was very kind and patient. My chili rellano was cooked perfectly it wasn't too salty the sauce complimented the dish perfectly however it could of had a tad bit more seasoning and the cheese wasn't rubbery and pepper still had moisture so I'd give it 3/5 stars. The salsa and guac is the bomb.com and i highly recommend when coming to this establishment!!

Get ready for some expensive Mexican food! The $25 restaurant.com coupon put a small dent in the final bill. The decor inside is nice and there's even a fireplace. Still, it was a bit chilly inside. Most entrees starts at $14 and it goes up from there. After we were seated, a lady came over with her cart to make fresh complimentary salsa (mild, medium or hot), but maybe not so complimentary because the cart came with a tip jar. For an extra $4, you can get a side of guacamole. Both were very good. We ordered the medium salsa and it wasn't really spicy, which is perfectly fine by me. They have tons of seafood offerings on the menu. The shrimp flautas appetizer was delicious. It came out with 6 rolls for about $8. The dinner I ordered (which I cannot pronounce or remembered how it's spelled) was delicious! It was an $18 seafood festival served in a mortar. There was a mixture of squid, mussels, shrimps on a bed of rice with a few crab legs in there. The sauce/seasoning on everything was fantastic. The margaritas were large, $8 a glass. I don't think I'd come here to order typical Mexican food (e.g. tacos and burritos) because I get perfectly good ones elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. However, the seafood here was great and I would come back for that. PARKING: Easy metered street parking. $0.25/hour.

This is the second time I've been here. The first time was a terrible experience. We were seated in their basement, which was very damp & smelled of mold. I thought we should try it one more time. This time started out very nice. A very nice table. The margarita glass was chipped around the rim. Kinda dangerous when your licking salt! The salsa & guacamole were good. The dinner we got looked great. Too bad they didn't have any taste at all. The chimichanga was steak. I wanted beef. It was all beans. The meat that was in it, was very tough! My wife's flautas was the same. Very tough. To top it off, we wanted fried ice cream. We were informed that they didn't have that any more. Very disappointing experience!!

La Quita De Los Reyes has to be one of the best restaurants in Aurora. My family and I enjoy every single moment we were there. The food was delicious and the drinks where even better. I will definitely bring more people to this restaurant.

Was so excited to eat here. Sat at the bar and we watched the cook prepare the dinners...totally enthralled. That was until we watched the cook take out raw meats abd throw them on the grill and then grab plates and put the tortillas, and fresh vegtables and cheese on the plate with the unwashed contaminated hands. To make matters worse, told this to the person in charge....he said there is a sink, said we know, he did not use it. Did watch them talk to him - he then proceeded to cook and did wash his hands, however he then went back to use the contaminated utensils and finished cooking and repeated the same process. Totally gross. The freshly made salsa was okay and the quacamole was bland...a little fresh lime and a few more ingredients would make a big difference. Not running back anytime soon!

I tried to make a take-out order, because every time I go there food takes over 30 minutes to get to my table. I was not able to make a phone order without pre-paying with my credit card over the phone. This is ridiculous - given all the credit card fraud happening - who in their right mind will give up a credit card number over the phone to a waitress? This is bad custom.. I ended up ordering my take out from another restaurant. Management really needs to re-evaluate this custom.

Decided to give this restaurant a second chance , as our first visit was not good ! The first visit they put us in the basement as they were super busy . It reeked of mold! Not pleasant at all. The second time last night, it was very slow and the food was terribly bland and tasteless and did not look like the pictures in the menu at all. My husband got a margarita with salt around the rim and the glass had a large chunk missing from the rim!! Very, very sharp!! The waitress didn't se em to care! We decided to order fried ice cream for dessert and she says we don't have that anymore, only cake. The dessert menu had a good assortment of desserts but most were unavailable . We will not give this place another chance as there are numerous great Mexican restaurants on this area .

My lady and I both had the Chile Rellenos. The poblano peppers were large (2 each) and cooked perfectly. However, the batter was too thick and it seperated from the pepper making for a clumsy satisfaction. Still, the ranchera sauce was decent so I did manage to make it work. Though the portions for the pepper were large the sides were not as generous. This is a marketing mistake because beans and rice are cheap, and what was there was really good. It was valentines day so the upstairs was packed and we had to sit in the basement. Not very good ambiance. They used banquet chairs. Yeah. They had a nice brick fireplace, but the white tablecloths and flooring made it look cheap. If they did just a little decorating down there the room could be much cozier. Overall, it's a yes because the food is good and the value even better. The Rellenos were $ 12.99, which is a very good price for the portion size and quality. The table side guacamole was only $ 3.00. Are you kidding me? The salsa was also made fresh, and it is served warm. So, the one reviewer who had the "prepare it beforehand" suggestion? Yeah, not a good idea. Warm was good, because it was different, and It was made by the most pleasant and courteous person. Nice job, guys. I would have given four (4) stars if they wouldn't have stuck us in the basement. Just sayin'.

Have to disagree with most reviews here. The salsa is made fresh, but honestly I wouldn't have argued with it being made ahead of time and actually being available for refills. The food was relatively expensive for what it is, on my opinion. $32 for 2 with no drinks, and one of the meals being vegetarian. Don't look up - the lights are covered in spider webs, and you may see Charlotte in her web watching you have dinner. Yum.

Wanted to really like this place. Great atmosphere, beautiful old building in downtown Aurora with exposed beams and brick. Service was as good as it could be. Seemed VERY understaffed. Only one bartender during the dinner rush. Waited 20 minutes at the bar to get a drink while we waited for our table. Table was ready before we got to order. (Must have reservations or you will wait if going during peak hours.) Waiter was friendly but was spread so thin he could not give you any extra attention. Our group of eight had mixed reviews of the food. Those who ordered appetizers for their meal and those who ordered more authentic Mexican food felt it was ok. I ordered grilled shrimp. Disappointing. They were seriously over grilled to the point the meat was seared to the shell and could not be extricated. Overall, good place for cocktails and snacks, probably off hours so the service would be better.

La Quinta De Los Reyes is one of those places that puts Aurora in the positive light it deserves. The service is super friendly, the atmosphere is lively. For those who can't get enough of the pre-dinner chips, be sure to order the guacamole and salsa. It's prepared tableside to your liking. Spicy, mild, whatever... They aim to please. We dined here pre-theater and the food is very tasty. I order the Birria from the traditional plates menu. It was good and very different from what I'm accustomed to. But hey, I keep an open mind when the service and atmosphere don't suck. My children did the usual kids taco plate and my guests went with the Enchiladas. All were pleased and maybe the top shelf Margaritas helped. Regardless, it's a great place to go when you're in the area for Paramount Theater shows, the casino or just because you have a hankering for good Mexican food. Thumbs up.

We visited this place since I purchased a Restaurant.com gift card, not happy with the service nor appearance. The layout of this place is all wrong, the bar and kitchen are back to back in the middle of the restaurant and the the ceiling and lights up top are dirty with webs, don't look up. We waited ten minutes after we were seated to see a waiter pass by our table. I flagged him down and Ask him to get our waiter for us. Our waiter comes by, just to ask what we needed, he did not greet us nor was courteous. We should have left at this point. But we stayed. This lady with her salsa cart comes by, also didn't greet us with hello or anything. We had the parrillada de Reyes, to our surprise the food was good and a lot for two people. I would like to give them a second chance to redeem themselves at a different location.

The food was half way decent, and the time of food arrival was ok. What made the experience here horrible was the service. I can be understanding if the restaurant is very busy, particularly on a Saturday night (which is when we went), but that does not excuse ignoring your customers. When we arrived, they seated us at a wobbly table that they attempted to "fix" with napkins. We let that slide because it was just a small thing. I needed more time to complete my order, but when I was finally decided, the waiter kept ignoring us and began talking to other waiters/staff, so getting his attention took some effort. When the food finally arrived, me and my SO ate the 2 taco plates we ordered. She enjoyed hers, I didn't enjoy mine as much because they were falling apart. Upon completion of our meal, we had to wait for nearly an hour to receive our check. I was under the assumption that the restaurant was understaffed that night and things were taking awhile, so I went outside for some fresh air. As I walked towards the exit, I saw my server just standing there talking and laughing with other waiters/staff members. It took my SO going directly to the server saying that we needed to go to get their attention. After this, it took another 15 minutes to pay for the meal. As a result, we spent more time waiting to pay than actually ordering and eating our food. I felt that the staff was very incompetent, rude, and disrespectful to the needs of their customers. We decided to never go there again. There are many better Mexican restaurants in Aurora.

Why only one star? Because: One salsa maker for an entire restaurant left us waiting a long time with our food already on the table. And the salsa was not worth the wait. Perhaps on other nights they have more than one maker, though this was a Saturday night. The salsa maker at your table is just a gimmick; she is just combining pre-made ingredients. 44$ for the parillada for two and the spoonful of guacamole that came with it was prepackaged. I asked the waiter why it was brown and not fresh and he explained that it came prepackaged; fresh was an additional 3.50 charge. A $44 plate does not warrant 25 cents worth of fresh guacamole? I then asked for fresh guacamole -- and it never came. What I thought were piles of food on neighboring tables, turned out to be mound shaped platters that contained a scant amount of food. The plate is loaded with bell peppers and onions as filler with a mediocre amount of actual poor quality meat. I filled up on tortillas -- undercooked The food came out in mere minutes, and that's never a good sign. It means you are being served precooked old food. They could at least have pretended to wait to serve us as if the food were being prepared fresh. I don't mind paying well for good food, but this restaurant is just cheap. I think it uses good atmosphere to bilk people into overpaying for low quality, poorly prepared food. I've had immensely better Mexican food. And the final straw? my son was even disappointed in the chicken fingers and french fries. C'mon guys. I give them 1 star for the musicians, they were the only thing I enjoyed. The atmosphere fooled our party of five into expecting a great meal. Don't be fooled also. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from. -- I'm hungry and am going to make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich

Came here for Mother's Day with my wife, sister, and mother dearest. We opted to go for our rendition of an untraditional Mexican dining experience. So we all skipped the tacos and mole and ordered everything else that didn't look familiar. I don't remember much because we had a round of cuberitas (i think that's what it was called, it was the margarita with a coronita in it), pina coladas, and some Patron to top it off. The fresh made guacamole is a little expensive, but it was pretty delicious. I had the seafood tower thing. It reminded me of a really intense seafood paella. Ceviche was good as well. Our waiter Santos was very helpful making recommendations and really attentive to everything we asked! The restaurant is a bit on the more pricey side, but its a fun casual ambiance and they have something for everyone.

Atmosphere is great, which only exasperates the extremely poor food quality. My family dined here for the first time on two separate occasions , and each time different dishes contained what tasted like "old" or rancid pork. I am from Taiwan and have a strong tolerance for strange tasting food... But this is the worst quality so far. Don't let the restaurants appearances fool you. Save your money. This bad dinning experience is truly amazing since this is a city home to the largest Mexican population north of Texas!

Typical selection of Mexican plates geared towards Gringos... Not too gone on the salsa and guac cart tableside. Good idea, not really impressed with the execution. The salsa is made from "freshly stewed tomatoes" which are on the cart sitting in warm water, but not being kept hot. Seems to me this is begging for bacterial trouble. The added fresh cilnatro helps, but honestly it would have been tastier cold. The guac is tasty and fresh, but not a whole lot special -- simply guac with cilnatro. But at $4, it's a good deal. Don't forget to tip the cart lady, but notice she takes the money in her hand and then goes back to making guac and salsa with the same hands. I had the Sabana a la Hidrocalida, which is basically thinly sliced beef covered in beans and cheese. it was very tasty with a great beef flavor. The beans that came with it were very bland. My wife had the Chile Rellenos, and the coating was too eggy and soggy. Final note on sanitation -- if you're sitting by the center prep area, notice that when the waiters/bus boys come to fill up the warm tortillas holders, they reach into the Coleman cooler full of hot tortillas with their bare hands. Bare hands, warm space -- not good.

I went for a late lunch on a Saturday. I was very impressed by the tableside made salsa and guacamole. They were both delicious. I had the Al pastor burrito. As a fan of al pastor, this one was quite good. It was a little light on the meat for me, but done well and tasted good. The service was great, as was the atmosphere.

An awesome, huge, delicious Mexican restaurant on the river in Aurora. Parking is off of Broadway. Try the table-side guacamole or salsa--as spicy or mild as you want it. They have a full bar and array of traditional Mexican beverages (horchata, jamaica, fresh juices, etc.). Delicious meat and seafood offerings from a range of regions, as well as traditional Am-Mex dishes such as burritos and nachos. They have a great party space on the top floor, which really grooves when being rented. Mariachis do their rounds on weekends, livening up the already buzzing restaurant. Great array of desserts as well, featuring flan and pastel de tres leches. Truly an awesome restaurant with a very comprehensive menu. Something for everyone! Oh yeah! The burritos aren't the only things as big as your head...so are the fantastic margaritas!

My favorite Mexican food restaurant. My personal favorite is the Milanesa plate and the steak nachos. The staff is very friendly. I especially appreciate how great the staff is when I order my food to go. They give a generous amount of chips and salsa as if I was eating there, which I really enjoyed when I got home. I really dig this place, as they have some stuff you don't find on regular Mexican menus. My favorite is this pork dish that they bring out on this sizzling tray. It has a little fire to keep up the sizzles. You make your own tacos with the pork hunks. You will leave with pockets full of pork as the dish is huge. They have this cool salsa lady that cruises around making salsa at your table. She will make it as hot as you like it, and for a few bucks she will make guac at your table. Very cool. If you are lucky the mariachi band will be jamming, making the food taste better. I stay away from tacos and burritos at Mexican places because they are boring. Be a tough guy, order something different and you won't be disappointed.

We wanted to give this place a try after reading about it on yelp. We are loyal to Buchos in Bolingbrook-- and were curious to see of it was better. It was immediately obvious that it was not. The service wasn't great-- and it was 5pm on a Wednesday. The made to order salsa concept was interesting. The stewed tomatoes were warm ((not hot))-- and it was instantly obvious that There were some sanitary issues-- dishes/utensils not rinsed or reused. And the salsa lady did not use gloves. She did take her cash tip in her hand, and then proceed to make the next tables order. I suppose I just don't feel as though I should have to tip for salsa-- which is a condiment in a Mexican restaurant. Our actual meals were decent-- although my husbands order was incorrect. I don't think I'd go back-- but maybe others will have a better experience.

Neat restaurant, very pretty with a view of the river. We all enjoyed the salsa and guacamole that were made for us at a cart that was rolled over to our table. I thought the chips and salsa were the best I'd ever had!! I could've eaten and eaten those. My daughter ordered the fish with a pico de gallo type sauce over it. It was fantastic and I would highly recommend it. I ordered the fajitas which were ok but I probably won't order them again. We did have a $25 restaurant.com certificate which came in handy. We will definitely return.

This restaurant came highly recommended. We love the home-made salsa, but it is inefficient. You cannot get enough. The chips and salsa are to-die for. The food NOT. One of us ordered fajitas and what came out looked like week-old pot roast. There was a pepper in it that was so blisteringly hot that the diner couldn't see. Fish was so-so. Chiles rellenos were okay. Tacos were meh. Don't bother.

I was looking for a good Mexican restaurant away from my area, and found this one. All I can say is the food and service was excellent. I had the burrito dinner and my friend had the Goat meat dinner. Before this, there is a woman that comes around and makes salsa and guacamole table side. You will be munching down on this stuff until you're meal arrives. You can't go wrong with their chips and dips. Also, you will get great corn tortillas on the house I believe. I didn't get anything from the bar, but I did have a Jarrito to aid in my digestion with the huge meal. Also, the weekends have live music. We had a mariachi band playing around the restaurant which was very cool. Overall I will be coming back because this place is downtown aurora so you can start off your night by going here.

Q: Will this burn my mouth? A: It will destroy your mouth. When the waiter says it's spicy, listen to him because IT IS SPICY. The last time I was here I tried the Molcajeteada de Mariscos, which is a mix of calamari, octopus, shrimp & mussels, with hot and spicy sauce, served in molcajete. I love seafood, and I was lovin this item until the spiciness caught up to me and destroyed my mouth. I should've listened to the waiter, but it's all good, I had them box it for me & ate it the next day--cold. So, I can't handle extremely spicy food. Big deal. I was able to enjoy many servings from the pitchers of guava margaritas that our table had ordered. What a way too cool off! I highly recommend the guava margaritas, they are oh so yummy!!! Another seafood item I recommend is the Langostinos Los Reyes: three king prawn stuffed with spinach, mushroom, ham and bacon, topped with melted cheese served with guacamole and salad. I had this when I came here a few years ago--I might have to go back & have it again! Anyway this restaurant is pretty cool, they make the salsa and guacamole right there in front of you! In addition to being a restaurant, La Quinta de Los Reyes turns into a club on the weekends. The second floor has a full bar, club lighting, a solid sound system, and DJ's spinnin a variety of tunes ranging from Top 40 & hip hop to tropical latin & dance music. La Quita de Los Reyes gets 4 stars for good service, good food, awesome guava margaritas, and the option to turn dinner into a night of booty shakin on the weekends. Holla!!!â„¢

Beware the mariachis! I'm going to be honest here: I tend to base my opinion on a Mexican restaurant on whether or not they make a good chile relleno. In short, I've never been disappointed in the chiles rellenos at La Quinta de los Reyes. In addition. the salsa lady makes a good salsa and guacamole. I recommend the spicy salsa, as the mild is a bit too bland. Or get one of each, and mix 'em, if you want a little less heat. I've been here several times, and the food has always been good - in addition to the chiles, everyone else with whom I have eaten has generally liked their food. The servers have always been pleasant and the atmosphere is nice. (I did warn you that you run the risk of being aurally assaulted by mariachis, right?) Judging from the posters in the bathroom, there appears to be some sort of nightlife that happens at the bar - a kind of clubby thing they call "Club Q." I can't speak to that because I've never had the misfortune to wander in when Club Q was happening. Which is probably for the best. They advertise free WiFi, but it is a closed network. You have to ask the waiter for the password, which he will gladly give you.

Our daughter has a medical diet that makes it tough to eat out, and they have always been great about helping us find something yummy for her to enjoy. Lovely margaritas as well :)

The hubby and I have been coming here for years. Great authentic mexican food. Some of our favorites are the steak fajitas, chicken mole, and the carnitas (pork). There is a salsa lady that goes from table to table and makes fresh salsa and also guac, The salsa is free (tips expected) and the guac is around $4 and gets added to your bill. The Margaritas are huge and awesome, especially the Mango one. They also have good Pina Coladas. It is also right next to the casino so sometimes we eat and then walk on over for some gambling fun!

Absolutely Brutal. Sunny 80 degree day and stopped in with a colleague for lunch to see if it was nice on the patio. The AC wasn't on so it was boiling inside AND the patio wasn't open(?!?) so we left. Two weeks later, beautiful evening so we stopped in for dinner. For the second time there was no one to greet us and the patio AGAIN wasn't open. The atmosphere was less than enthusiastic. The lighting was so bright, the tv's had nothing on them and the music was a Cubs game broadcast. Finally a server comes up to greet us wearing a Home Depot apron and we're seated without menus. After sitting there for close to ten minutes I found some sticky menus myself.... The salsa lady made good salsa but the cart she was serving from looked like it was far from sanitary and in need of a good cleaning. Finally a server. We ordered margaritas which were very tasty and a couple entrees. When the entree's were served mine was the way I ordered but my colleagues was wrong. It took an extra 20 minutes to fix the problem and everything was delicious even though it was cold. Never received an apology for any issues. When I asked for a dessert menu the server looked liked a deer in headlights, spoke of a couple desserts he heard about , walked away and never returned with a menu. I finally found a dessert menu and the items he spoke of weren't even on there. When I asked about the dessert items the server couldn't tell me about one of them. And lastly, we wanted to cap off our dinner with a coffee but they didn't have any. I noticed a few tables waiting for servers while we dined. I really want to like this place because the food is good but they need to get it together on the operations end. I would like to pay La Quinta a visit at a later time but I don't want risk embarrassing myself with dinner guests by recommending this place. Sorry.

Terrible service, so-so food. A spider came down from the ceiling and almost into our food. It took them 40 mins to bring an order of french fries. Ants crawling all over the place. No air conditioning in 90 degree weather. The waiter argued with us half of the time. Very dissapointed in this place. I came a few years ago and it was excellent. Now, not so much DON'T BOTHER! I visited this place while on business in Illinois due to a tip from a local co-worker. I had been on a search for an "authentic" Mexican place far from home, and I'd say I found it in picturesque downtown Aurora. Upon entering the foyer I was immediately impressed with the wonderful aromas that wafted into my nostrils like the sweet breath of a lover, most reminiscent of true "home-made" Mexican cooking. After being seated I was quickly greeted by a charming Hispanic lady pushing a wheeled cart containing all the makings for tableside guacamole and fresh-made salsa. Of course I said "yes" to both, and was most pleased with the results, again, reminding me of Mamacita's kitchen. The menu was huge in size as well as content, and after a monumental struggle with my mental facilities I decided on the Enchiladas Suiza. Damn good choice. Again, so homemade-tasting I became homesick for San Antonio and Mrs. Bear's momma's kitchen. So, so good. An let me not forget to comment on the simply awesome house margarita - just about as good as it gets - smooth, orangy, plenty of tequila and salt - just beautiful. My only complaint was the location with respect to parking, or lack thereof. After driving around and around in circles on one-way downtown streets, I decided on impulse to follow a guy who ducked down an alleyway like he knew where he was going, and sure enough, he emerged right at the entrance to a small parking lot across the street from the restaurant. After risking life and limb to cross the busy street, I found myself at the entrance door. There were no crosswalks in sight, and I had to wait for the light to change in order to halt the fast-moving cars.

Just thinking about this place I get sick to my stomach! Well I was very hopeful when I came here since a lot of people rave about this place - being authentic mexican. Being from Chicago moving to Aurora - I needed a good taco. The waitresses were friendly. The place seemed dirty that day. The blinds dusty and broken. The ceiling fans were dusty too and saw spider webs. Ew. The service was o.k.a.y. - though she did mess up my fiancee's order. He ordered steak tacos but got chicken tacos instead. We were asked if we wanted salsa and they made the salsa there in front of us. She also offered us guacamole--thinking it was complimentary. (later saw a charge of 3 bucks in the bill) - sorry American yelpers - this is not the REAL guacamole. It seems that she squished avocado and put it in a small bowl. Where is the tomato, onion, cilantro and jalapeno? no lime? However, it is eatable and I've had worse out there. The salsa was good compared to their food. I only had 1 taco w/rice and beans and I couldn't even finish the taco since it was pretty plain and the tortilla not hot enough... my tortilla was crumbling before my eyes... My fiancee didn't even finish his taco dinner either. My daughter had the green enchiladas which she liked..but said that they were not spicy (meaning not authentic green enchiladas) Didn't feel quite welcomed and a biggie for me - there was no air conditioning....we asked to be moved by the windows. Oh and you only get 1 refill of soda. I will not come here again honestly. We'll stick to Las Palmas.

If you're up for authentic Mexican food, EXTREMELY loud mariachi music, and service on the slower side, this is the place for you. If not, bring earplugs and some patience. I had neither (and very rarely do). Extensive menu - had the grilled vegetable salad (don't ask me the name, I couldn't pronounce or spell it if I tried) and the grilled chicken fajitas. I was tempted to try the fish, but the only fish picture on the menu featured a WHOLE fish with the skin on. Hmm, maybe next time.... Husband had the mango margarita and highly recommended it. Salsa and guacamole made fresh tableside. Tips are expected. Dining mates raved about both. Parking was an issue, and it was a Sunday night in winter. Parking in summer will be challenging.

Really great! Mexican-style food is one of my favorites and this place was no disappointment whatsoever! I ordered the chicken burrito suiza and usually when the burrito is filled with shredded chicken it can be kind of bland. Not here. Not only was the chicken flavored well, there was actually condiments inside the burrito spaced properly throughout and not all bunched up at one end! The only thing I thought was kind of odd was that they have a gal with a cart that makes fresh salsa at the table for you (which was very delicious), and her cart has on it -- right in front, more noticeable than the fresh ingredients -- a "TIP" jar. I just thought it was odd, I expect everyone to share the generous tips I leave at the table. I've worked at several restaurants and the usual protocol is that the bartender and the busboys or whomever else worked at the table would get a portion of the waiter's tips. I get personally offended whenever I see tip jars in inappropriate places, like at the dry cleaners for example, and while I was at a restaurant (where I would normally have tipped anyway) to see someone coming around the store with a product I expect to be served included with the meal (as it is in every other Mexican style restaurant I've been to), with a "TIP" jar on her cart. It was just odd to me. However, I did tip her, and it in no way ruined the delicious meal we were served. The margaritas were excellent too, and freaking HUGE !

Really bad. Gave the place a try over several years. There's always some problem. The food is a gastro nightmare for your digestive track. The salsa is warm mush made unfresh at your table-side with canned ingredients(yes really-they tried to pass off this crap)!!! Growing up eating Mexican food all my life, I'm truly disappointed this is Aurora's best attempt at an upscale restaurant. Blaring annoying mariachi music Fridays & Saturdays. Servers & management have no sense if urgency or professionalism. Slow, slow, slow service. I think every inch of space is covered in ads from rotor rooters to Cinco de Mayo fiestas from 3 years ago. They have a great patio that is never used, and if they do they forgot you're out there as a paying customer. They pass of 8oz plastic cups of beer for $3 and the same 8oz cups for drink specials on the dance floor upstairs with tasteless taxidermy in their club like big moose heads. What the hell do moose heads have to do with Mexican food?!?!?!?

When you are driving West on New York street and you reach Broadway in Aurora, you may wonder "Where the heck is the restaurant"? Just hook a right and a quick left to the parking lot and there it is set back behind its old location. The interior is rustic but clean with a bar on each of the three floors. The kitchen is uniquely located on the ground level within the bar. We sat at a table with a nice view of the river. A lady first arrives at your table with a cart serving salsa (comp) and prepares fresh guacamole (optional). Then a waiter promptly follows up to take your order. I ordered the three delicious quesadillas (steak, pastor pork and chicken) which came with a salad (tasty dressing), refried beans and spanish rice. This is a great way to sample all three meat dishes. My wife ordered the pastor pork chimichanga and it was HUGE and tasty. I only ordered a coffee so next time I will go back to try the margaritas. The staff was very friendly and service was excellent!!

We went in large group for a friends birthday and she was so excited. We waited another 45 mins after our reservation time and then finally were seated! We ordered drinks and the birthday girl still didn't receive her drink and water after multiple attempts to the waiter. We all had ordered an entree and waited about an hour and a half and only half received their food! By the time the others were almost done eating the waiter asked us if we were waiting on anything. We obviously didn't have our meals. I told him i didn't even want mine anymore because we now had waited 2 hours so i ordered chocolate ice cream instead as people were waiting already at our next location. The manager finally came out and i still hadn't received even the ice cream and when it finally did come ,out about 30 mins later, it was strawberry, We had complained it was horrible and i still hadn't eaten yet and the manager gave us a mere 25 dollars off our bill! HORRIBLE!!! Then after, the waiter had switched our bills and charged our credit card a receipt that wasn't even ours, a different tables in fact! we told him and now we have two transactions still on our accounts after we have called twice. And to top it off today a pending price ( our actual bill) was changed and added more money to it so we have to call again! Probably one of the worst experiences and customer service i have encountered in a long time! We were very patient until the end and they still amazed us by screwing up! Don't waist your time! At least the manager could of fixed the situation by comping us more than 25 and actually charging the correct price. Third attempt and its still not fixed! They need to re take some business and customer service classes and maybe get some people who can diffuse a situation quick and efficient!

What a great surprise! This place is fabulous. For appetizers we had the shrimp ceviche (which they call shrimp cocktail) and it was very similar to the one from El Mariachi on Broadway downtown. It was a pleasent surprise to see how much shrimp was actually in it and while it was a little tough, it was a Tuesday night and the flavor was still fresh and authentic. We also had the salsa (homemade) and the tableside guacamole, both of which were delicious. For dinner we had the spinach enchilladas and the chicken tacos. I have to say, while it seems a simple order, they were hands down the best chicken tacos I have ever had. Very moist, phenominal flavor, fresh lime and cilantro. I can't wait to go back.

I'm not Mexican/Hispanic so I can't say anything about this place's authenticity, but I thought that food was really good. I got the Mole Chicken meal and loved it, also had the fresh made guacamole and really enjoyed that too (though it was a little less colorful than others I've had, it was still very good.) The waiter we had was very friendly and service was not incredibly fast, but not slow either. Prices weren't cheap, but not outrageous either. Overall, it was a good place to eat, and if I'm ever craving Mexican food, I'd go back.

If you are a fan of truly authentic Mexican then this is the place for you. Fresh salsa and guacamole are made table side. Corn tortillas are homemade. We ordered the parrillada los reyes. This is a giant metallic lazy susan on top of a can of sterno that keeps the whole thing hot throughout the meal. Meats such as giant prawns, steak, sausages, chicken, pork, small shrimp are resting on a bed of grilled onions and peppers. We fed a family of 4 with two small children on a "meal for 2" and still had enough to take two meals home. Service was excellent. Our waiter did an excellent job of explaining the menu and replenishing the corn tortillas before we ran out. He was also a big hit with my 6 yr. old daughter as he gave her a sample of rice milk. We went on a Friday night and a mariachi band roved throughout the restaurant playing requests for each of the tables. My toddler was having a great time dancing in her high chair and clapping after every song. There are several large tables for groups of 12-16. This would be an excellent place for a group of people to get together for a night of dinner, drinks, and entertainment all in one place. We stayed longer much longer than we initially expected as we leisurely munched on dinner and the kids enjoyed the mariachis. We even dared to order a drink after dinner.

I love this place. The fresh guac and salsa is great, and the food is even better. Service is generally very good too. I go here whenever I'm craving Mexican food. I always get the enchiladas verde, and they are simply amazing. Large portions too. The only grievance I have is I wish the dining room were larger. The past couple of times I've been there, there has been one of those groups of neglectful parents with way too many kids where they all just want to get drunk, so the kids all run wild. It was highly irritating, but that's not the restaurant's fault...I was able to drown them out with the trance of pleasure I got from my enchiladas verde :)

When we went upstairs to have a drink, They wouldn't even come over to us, the bar was about empty & 3 other latinos came & went with drinks before we took the hint & went to Tavern on the Fox around the corner. I don't feel like going out smelling like a greasey corn chip for service as bad as this. I went there last night for a friend's going away party. She has done many of her parties there in the past so they "gave" her the private party room in the basement. I didn't taste the food but I know enough not to because of all the poor reviews here. What got me was the high prices for their bar that night. This girl has brought them LOTS of business in the past but since they figured this was her last party for them there, then why not jack-up the price of drinks? They had a "dance party" upstairs. No cover and now I know why. It was completely DEAD. Just the DJ and the bouncer patting us down. This place is known for advertising a drink special on a given night then when you go there, it's at a regular or inflated price. What's up with that? The place looks nice, I'll give them that. The kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant covered by what looks like plexi-glass. I don't know how those poor cooks do it. I would not recommend going there for drinks. I've heard plenty of complaints when it comes to that from more than one person.

I have enjoyed every meal I have had there. It's nice place to sit outside and dine in the summer and a bustling interior in the winter. Good mexican food. A lady comes around making salsa and guac for your chips. The staff is friendly & fast. Overall good experience. I recommend!

LOVE this place!! This is the only mexican place I have found that knows how to make a good green chili sauce. Their green chili is spectacular!!! Starts a little sweet and then follows with a prefect spicyness - not weak at all. Another love is the freshly made at your table salsa and guac. Only suggestion is to sit inside - on one visit we sat outside and service was awful. Friday and Saturdays are fun with live authentic music. Can't wait to go back.

This is a great spot in down town Aurora, located on the East side of the Riverboat. Plenty of parking in the back. Please see my blog for more details and reviews. We went with the neighbors on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Arrived around 6:30 and the place was pretty dead. Few families eating up front, and no one really in the bar. We sat at a long table inside. They do have outside seating, but the patio is not that nice. Food was excellent, and there was more than you could finish. Margarita pitchers were weak, didn't taste right and were really expensive at $25 per. La Quinta De Los Reyes was AWESOME. The salsa and guacamole are made tableside so they could not be any fresher. The tortilla chips are made on site. We had the Chimichanga, the nachos and the Fajita - And margaritas. It was all great. The best part for me was the mariachis - a 9 piece band singing and playing authentic mariachi music. So we fed a family of 4 with a BIG drink each for the adults for about $60 - including entertainment. It is a bargain. Save $3000 on a trip to Mexico and head to Aurora. 9 MARIACHIS!!! Went back and had pork tacos and steak tacos on 2 different occasions. Both great. Saturday night has live music, but not the crowd of mariachis. Quieter and better for "date night". Marichis for Friday Night party! Either way is good. The Premium margaritas are worth the premium.

La Quinta is the most authentic Mexican restaurant that I know of in the suburbs. I have been to Mexico several times, and the food here is the closest to what I have had south of the border (and I'm not talking about food in touristy places like Cancun). I've returned to La Quinta several times and it has always been a good experience. The building that has been remodeled looks great and the patio is always nice when the weather cooperates. I was here once when a mariachi band was playing and it was pretty loud, but tolerable. A woman will come to your table with a cart and make salsa and/or guacamole to your liking right there! The staff is always friendly and efficient, and I like that the grill is in the center of the restaurant-gives off a great aroma! I can only vouch for the several dishes I have had like enchiladas, chile rellenos, and fajitas, but they were all good. The meat that my girlfriend had with her fajitas was a bit more chewy than my liking. I have had family tell me that the seafood there is excellent. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone. La Quinta De Los Reyes is another jewel in Aurora which adds to the downtown's revitalization.

I've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant for several years since our favorite closed, due to what seemed like a poor business model and bad location.... Anyway, this unfortunately is not its replacement. Based upon the reviews here I was hoping for more, but there were some things that disappointed me. The salsa and guacamole made table-side were quite tasty, but also small in portion and we then had to wait awhile for the lady to come around again. The meals we ate (a burrito suizo, a chimichanga, and tacos) were just okay. Nobody said that their food was delicious. My burrito needed to be buried in salsa and guacamole for it to taste good. And the bean and rice sides were just okay. I was also not very happy with my margarita. Granted, it was very large, but it was super strong and I could only drink about 1/4 of it. The taste was overpowering and I felt like I'd be under the table if I had much more... Come to think of it, I probably should have requested it to be fixed or exchanged. Oh well~ on to trying another Mexican restaurant.

Was ok. The salsa was good as others have said. Food was standard fare- nothing spectacular. Parking is in the lot across the street (there are parking meters). The area is a little difficult to get around. Probably will not go back though due to the fact it is a bit out of the way and traffic is bad in that area.

I would give this place a 5 star if they had a true non smoking section. We walked in there was a little bit of a wait, not too bad 10 minutes... I asked for a table in the front area away from the bar, since that is where smoking is allowed - let me say this place has a huge oak bar - one on each floor. Instead we were ushered downstairs, with loud music blaring from the jukebox tv screens. Of course the little old ladies who had ordered the cheese covered cook it yourself dish had to all light up at the bar between courses. - YACK! The highlight - the dim sum style cart that comes around with a server who makes fresh guacamole at your table - the richest, creamiest, tastiest guacamole I have ever had - did I mention the freshest ?? The cut and squish the avocado right there and mash it in a mortar with pestle. Same with the salsa, though I think it is all Hot, you are just choosing between green and red. The salad was decent, lettuce, tomato, cucumber (two hunks of cheese I have to remove). The husband enjoyed the carne asada, and our other dinner friend had veggie tacos - off menu and we had to order in Spanish to get the order across correctly. So, very loud Tejano music Very fresh guacamole very smokey if there are smokers at the bar This place was packed on the Friday we went, I hear it is not so bad during the week lunch time, which is why our dinner friend did not know that there was smoking, there is never anyone there at lunch. They must have some awesome drinks/prices too, because on both levels the bars were packed. Try the Limonada and Jamiaca drinks - like you are back in Mexico, that's how good they are (too me anyway)

The quac is absolutely amazing. The service is absolutely horrendous. Loved their patio, just wished they had the bar open and in operation. Also, music outside [the blues fest over on the river was a tad annoying]. My tamales were good. The cheese fundido was pretty delicious. The margaritas were tasty, but not enough ice!

Horrible. Worst Dining experience ever in regards to the service or lack of. We had reservations for 9 people, they sat us at a table for 8 people so one person was sitting off the corner of a table. We were ignored from the start because they were either under staffed or just didn't care. Waited 20 minutes for a glass of water and had to ask the bus boy twice before we could even get that. Had to walk up to the bar to get our own refills. We were there for an hour before our order was taken and we had to flag the bus boy down because no other waiter came by to take our order. The bar tender was the one that actually took our order since the waiter was no where around. We asked for separate checks but their computer was "broken" so they said. They only did this so that gratuity would be added to the charges for the larger group-the waiter did no earn any of it! Not impressed with the food, nothing special and not worth the evening out. Chicken Quesadillas cost $11 and I could have gotten better at Taco Bell. Hardly any cheese and all chicken. Chicken Taco Salad had probably 1/4 cup of lettuce and 2 cups chicken. Most was left for waste since the proportions were bad. Waste of time and will never go again. I do NOT recommend this place if you are looking for an enjoyable dining experience. Cook in your kitchen and you'll get better service. I would give this place a negative star rating if I could because the service was that bad.

Exceptionally good food, and extremely authentic. Portions large. Think Las Palmas with stronger flavors and a much livelier atmosphere. Drinks brought & refilled promptly, except for water. House margarita mediocre, spend the extra $1.50 for one of the premiums. They take reservations, had the reservation but no idea how big our party was and seated our 8 people (arriving in 3 groups) at 3 tables, until we saw ourselves. Music a bit loud for conversation if your table has more than 4 people, but much of the dinner hour there is live music from a duet of strolling singers who occasionally try to entice diners to take a few bars on the microphone. Decor gets high marks except for beer ads in the form of life-size cardboard cutouts of women, which detracts from the restaurant ambiance in favor of sports bar / meat market which I think is its alter ego later in the night. The place is crowded and busy, and service isn't bad when that is considered. In true Mexican fashion you either need EVERYONE to set all dishes and drinks down to signal you are done, or request the check, as it is rude to "rush" a guest by bring a check unless they have completely finished.
