Fantastic! Go there tonight! Several weeks ago, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins all met here for a late Sunday lunch/early dinner. I think we totaled 15 or 18. Everyone enjoyed it thoroughly! Although we were talking, hugging, and yelling at football on the t.v., our server kept track of everything. The drinks from the bar were right on! and best yet, the food was de-lish! We ordered a good variety of apps, entrees and desserts- everyone noted how the food was the right temperature (especially tough to get out hot food with a large party like this), and complemented the taste too. Thank you! What a cozy, sweet, yummy find in our little Antioch. Don't hesitate. Go! Enjoy!

The stuffed chicken is amazing. This is quite a gem located in downtown Antioch. Very cozy atmosphere is perfect for the occasional romantic dinner with my fiance. We will continue to be customers for years to come.

Awesome cooking class...fun group and entertainment by David - who treated us to a guitar session after an amazing dinner of cheddar cheese soup, nut crusted Australian lamb chops, peach crumble...this food snob (me) will definitely be back! Way to go David Bistro!! 5 Stars

Antioch should be thankful for this little gem! Lunch is a price performer for their half wrap and soup! David's soups are wonderful! Dinner has rarely disappointed! Yummy scallops, delicious steaks--it's all good!

Visited on both 12/24/14 and 12/25/14. We were out-of-towners, and this restaurant was a hidden Gem to find open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when most restaurants (except fast food) were closed; plus, great food. Very good service from Kyle, Donna, and owner David himself.

We really wanted to like this place and did for a short while. We moved to Antioch and wanted a special occasion place to have a nice dinner. The first visit had great garlic chicken but a very poor variety platter - I honestly don't remember the exact name but the lamb medallions were inedible. Then went for lunch with a coupon and seemed like were we looked down upon for using it! Still gave it a chance on our first anniversary and was underwhelmed. The chocolate/coconut martini was loved though. The final straw was the questionable decisions by the owner. Will not go again.

Nice atmosphere, excellent service and a very enjoyable meal. I had Mama's Meatballs & Pasta. The pasta was al dente rigatoni, the sauce was a freshly made marinara and the meatballs were tasty and flavorful. It came with salad and their vinagrette dressing was the best I've ever had. Oh, and the fresh, warm bread was delicious. I liked the exposed brick walls and the lovely paintings on the wall. David's Bistro has a friendly, quaint and romantic feel. I look forward to returning.

Couldn't be more disappointed in this place yet had low expectations. Ordered two simple dishes - asparagus salad and steak salad. My wifes asparagus salad came on a bed of ice berg lettuce, which wasn't noted on the menu. Bad taste, bad presentation. Ditch the lettuce and this would be better. I had the steak salad and as soon as it hit my table I could smell the meat was off. I dont even know what kind of cut it was but it greasy and grissly. Was aweful, had four bites. I'd gladly pay more for a quality cut of steak that you typically get with a steak salad. At least it was all cheap and the service was pleasant. Sad to say we won't go back. Hey David, focus more on your food than your art. Your menu needs work.

If you want a nice, adult, sit down meal with a glass of wine, this is the best place in downtown Antioch. Cozy atmosphere, interesting specials, and main courses that don't disappoint. I really like their calamari, stuffed mushrooms and Gorgonzola bites as starters. For a main course I liked the duck breast and the maple salmon was excellent also. I also like their daily specials and order one of those more often than not.

Went with my mom for the first time today for lunch. I don't know why I haven't come before. Amazing! All meals comes with soup or salad. We opted for the steak & rice soup. So good. All fresh ingredients and was amazing. We also had the appetizer crab cake. A little on the oniony side for me, but the sauce was devine. The main courses were fantastic. Mom got a pecan crusted tilapia. It comes with asparagus, but they were very accommodating in changing that out for whatever veggie she wanted. I ordered a flat bread. Perfectly cooked. I can't wait to go back. Our server was also phenomenal! I wish I remembered her name. So on top of things and so nice. PS if you have theater tickets at the PML theatre next door, present them and you get a 20% discount.

I liked this place! It is fine dining in Antioch without costing you an arm and a leg! I had to really think about what I was going to give this place. For what the chef pulled I might have given 1 star but Adam our waiter saved it and he is getting 4 Stars. I ordered the Grilled Turkey Panini. It came with lettuce, tomato, Swiss, basil mayo and of course roasted turkey. The Sandwich looked really good. I took a few bites and started to taste burnt bread. I looked at the bottom of my bread and it was hardly even toasted. I then flipped over the second half of the Panini and the bread was completely burned. I was a little upset that the chef would try to just sneak that by a customer. What made me mad is that the sandwich was positioned for me to eat the burnt one second. I have only seen a chef do this on Hell's kitchen. I was a little shocked by the lack of professionalism in the kitchen. We all know what burning bread smells like. I called Adam our waiter over and he apologized. He also offered to bring me something else off the menu. I said, "No I wanted the same thing!" Then all I could think was...are they gonna burn that one too!!! This is only the second time I've ever sent anything back because I always fear someone is going to spit in my food. So let's hope the chef was honest and fair at this place. Adam was a great waiter and he fixed it right away and apologized. I love customer service. They are lucky to have a smart experienced waiter here. I also want to note that the owner David was not cooking because I saw him in street clothes walking around. I just hope he has a talk with his chef about quality and food presentation. Back to our waiter Adam...he was amazing. He brought out a tiny sample of the steak and potato soup for our 5 year old to sample. She loved it and we got her a whole bowl. I am ruining this little one for her boyfriend because she isn't going to want to ever eat at McDonald's. I also tried a spoon of her soup and it was really good. Nothing like a homemade soup. I also loved the salads. The lettuce was crisp and not wet...the two things I look for in a salad. I had the blue cheese and my wife the creamy garlic. Both dressings were amazing...I not admitting this but I may have drank what was left of my dressing on the side...allegedly!!! My wife had the pizza margarita and was nice enough to share a piece with me while I was waiting for my lunch to be recooked. The pizza was good and had nice chunks of garlic in it. I also want to note that this place has an amazing kids menu. So if you are bringing your kids, I think they will love it. For $5.99, you get a side which can be soup or fries, a kids entree, a drink and a martini sundae. They also give you crayons and a kids menu to color on, which they will hang on the wall. Then once they are done coloring the menu, they can start on the paper table cloth. The decor in here is nice. I also love the cloth table clothes and cloth napkins. Fancy! The bar also looks fun too. Martini prices aren't bad at $7.99. I really liked the etched wood above the bar. They also have 3 TV's in the bar area. I was able to watch the Cubs lose again...thanks Theo! Parking is easy! There are spots on main street with a 2 hour limit. The waiter also told me that there is parking behind the building too. The main Street in downtown Antioch is really cute. There are not many main streets like this that are surviving in America. We have been driving through here for 6 years and I am glad that today we stopped. I liked David's Bistro and was surprised at how good it was. I was sad about what the chef tried to pull but happy that our waiter fixed the situation. I would come back and hope it was a one time incident.

My husband & I had visited David's during a town wine walk. We sampled their appetizers which were delicious and knew we wanted to come back. The dinner started out well with drinks, appetizer & salads. All were fantastic. Our dinner fell apart when our entrees were brought to the table. You can read the details in Jay K.'s review. He's "the husband" and accurately captured our visit. I'm reluctant to try David's Bistro again since the entrees were so poor. For the money, I expect much, much more.

Fantastic food. Burger is out of this world especially for ten dollars. Great prices for what you get. Filet bites are an amazing appetizer.

Wish we had started with dessert first! Everything sounded so delicious but we had no room for anything else. We came for lunch on a weekend about a month ago. My companion has lived in the area for a while but had never been there, so we decided to give it a go. I had a turkey with havarti cheese wrap, my companion had the vegetarian wrap. We both had cream of asparagus soup on the side. The wraps were wonderful- full of flavor and lots of substance. The soup was kind of bland, it could have used some more spice. The waitress we had was one of the best ones I've experienced. Her charisma about the menu and food as well as her genuine interest in our experience there made our time at David's Bistro quite enjoyable. One of the gems in Antioch.

We went on a Saturday night and this was our first visit to David's Bistro. The restaurant is on the small side but has a nice comfortable vibe and great service. We ordered the appetizer sampler and it was amazing. Everything was prepared well and the temperature and plating were nice. We both ordered the specials- one was a shellfish pasta the other was a walleye Cajun special. We've both dined all around and found that the food at David's was great. I loved the Asparagus salad and even the bread was good. They have a decent wine and beer list - not too huge but acceptable. The service was great as well- attentive and friendly. Price was very good for the quality. It's nice to see a 'non chain' restaurant appear to be thriving and doing well in downtown Antioch. We will definitely be back!

We finally got back 'round Antioch way again recently and caught David's for lunch. Once again a great experience. Wonderful food, with on point service. They only had two servers on duty but they were more than adequate. i enjoyed the way they tag teamed tables so not one person felt like they were being ignored. Everything is made fresh so there is time between appetizers and entree but the staff filled the time well with attention to our drinks and updates on timing. Really professional. David's is an excellent dining experience that if located 20 miles south it would be twice the $$. Try it before they catch on :-)

Antioch desperately needs more choice in the way of restaurants, so I am glad David came to town. I've been there several times and was never disappointed. My first time there I discovered how out-of-this-world their appetizers are! I've been there for lunch and the wraps are great too. *update* 10/17/14 Did you know that you can use restaurant.com coupons here? If you spend $20, you get $10 off. For lunch, you can get a panini, burger, pizza etc, which can come with pasta salad, and soup or salad. For 2 people, including 20% tip, it's about $18.

Excellent food - their chef knows what he or she is doing. We had the escargot to start, which are easy to overcook, but were rich and tender and buttery. Two of us ordered seafood, one ordered steak, and all were excellent. Great but small wine list, excellent staff. Highly recommended.

There again today and I love this place! Navy Bean and Steak soup? It was AWESOME! Fun and friendly staff. Great food! Try the Crostini appetizers! Yum! And the bread! Yum Yum

The bread at David's is very very good and is served with a very sweet butter at a perfect temperature, very soft and delicious. The shrimp and lobster Newberg is exceptional, large delicious chunks of fresh tasty lobster. The stuffed filet pops in your mouth with so many different flavors it is a fun and exciting dish served with mashed potatoes vegetables and a sauce that perfectly complements the meal. I found the Caesar salad to be okay. The lava cake served with ice cream is small not large enough for two. It was a bit disappointing I would've hoped for real homemade ice cream . The ice cream had ice in every bite. After tasting the entrées my expectations for David's was very high, potentially an A restaurant if not for minor details that hold it back, this is why Davids earns a solid B+.

Maybe I didn't order the right thing.. But I ordered shrimp pasta. They forgot my shrimp I had to remind the waitress for it. The dish had Spinach tomatoes and mushrooms and was bland.. Not very tasteful. My boyfriend got veal pasta he said it was alright but not seasoned. The waitress was slow and the service wasn't very good.

My wife and I were happy to stumble across this place. The staff was very friendly and the owner seemed very involved in the going's on. The food was excellent. The Bistro Sampler appetizer provided a good variety (stuffed mushrooms, filet gorgonzola bites and crostini's). All three items tasted fantastic. The dinner salads were very fresh. I got the stuffed bistro filet and thought it was fantastic. My wife got the jumbo scallops and thought they were excellent. I always like to patronize non-chain restaurants and this one will be an easy choice to come back to again!

Very disappointed in David's easter brunch. Arrived to a picked over buffet with very limited choices. The picked over salmon carcass was the most depressing part. I won't be back.

WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!!! My partner and I where in town for the weekend to see a friends show. Not having any idea where to eat, I found David's Bistro on Yelp and we decided to go. After waiting a minutes for a table, we decided to have dinner at the bar. From the bartender to all the servers who had to come up and get their drinks, everyone provided EXCELLENT customer service. The food was FANTASTIC and the bottle of wine we had was awesome. We will be recommending this place to everyone we know. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!

Been here a few times thinking well maybe its just me . Food so so. found a piece of metal in food one time. Easter Brunch is the end! Over priced/low quality food. service was bad and then they tack on a high tax and tip. 24.99 brunch turned into 35.00. What a rip never again.

By far the best restaurant in Antioch. Always fresh and original food. Tonight I had the panko crusted chicken with linguini and it was delicious. They also have a nice selection of beers and wines. Tried a dogfish head sixty one IPA at the recommendation of the server. Pretty good but prefer the 60 minute IPA.

I went to David's Bistro for the first time today. This is pretty much as good as food gets. Having never been there before, we got the Bistro Sampler. The Stuffed Mushrooms were good, the Bistro Crostini were good, the Filet Gorgonzola Bites... if sex had a flavor, this would be it. The house salad dressing, a balsamic vinaigrette, was so good that I used the warm bread to wipe my plate clean. Who does that? You will, trust me. The sandwiches we had were both really good. The Crème Brûlée, which is missing an accent on the menu (which always makes me angry), was delicious enough to make me stop complaining about the misspelling. I will definitely go back to try other things on the menu and eat many, many, many more Filet Gorgonzola Bites.

Ordered scallop plate in a pastry bowl with a baked potato on the side and was not given the pastry bowl. Even though I didn't get what I ordered they managed to charge me for it. Never go here.

We decided to try some place we'd never been tonight. I'm so glad we did. Our reservation was for 6:15 and there was no problem with seating when we got there. In fact, they let us chose where we wanted to sit. It did get busier by the time we left. Megan was our waitress and let me tell you, she was awesome. She gave us tips on her favorites and was super quick with asking us if everything was good and with clearing the table of empty dishes. Each course was perfectly timed to arrive at our table right after the previous course was gone. We started with a glass of wine each. Riesling for him and a Moscato for me. Warm, fresh bread was brought to our table and for our appetizer we ordered the calamari which was perfectly cooked and delicious. With our meal, my husband got the house salad with their in house made balsamic dressing which he said was very tasty. I got the cream of broccoli soup which was also good. He ordered the Ribeye steak and spent a little extra for the Parmesan crust. He said his steak was cooked perfectly and was very good. I ordered the Filet Oscar. OMG...so divine. The steak melted in my mouth and taken with a bite of the crab meat smother was a like a party in my mouth. For dessert, we ordered a Chocolate Ooooooze Cake. It's a chocolate lava cake that came with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate. It was super sweet and super yummy. All in all, it was a spectacular dinner and we will definitely eat there again.

This is one of my favorite spots. The last two times I was there I had the scallops in creamy sauce with puff pastry! The scallops were done perfectly and the sauce was rich and really delicious. I must say that next time I will specify that we want a table in Molly's section. She is the waitress we had last time. Last night we had somebody else. Luckily I don't remember her name, but she was terrible. By that I mean, she was in a BIG hurry for everything. That is wonderful at the very beginning. She took our drink order and we got them immediatley. Perfect! But then, within a minute or two she wanted to know if we knew what we wanted to order. She could have run a few appetizers by us at that point, but she wanted to know our order. We told her we needed a couple minutes. She was back in 2 minutes! So ... great we ordered and she brought our food promptly. That was also a good thing... BUT she was back within a couple of minutes to see "how we were doing" We had barely tasted it. fine... anyway then she was back in about 10 and a couple of us were not actively shoveling food in, so she said "looks like you're slowing down!" do you need some boxes... seriously it was maybe 5 minuites! I was starting to get annoyed! This was the pattern for the rest of the time. I was done before eveyone else and had food left. She got mine and took it for a box, and I told her that everyone else was still eating so "relax" . I told my wife to hang on to her fork every time the waitress was nearby. Is it just me, or does anyone else think it's weird to start clearing everything that is not actively being used while people are eating at a normal pace. I mean it's not like we were eating SLOWLY... just seems like she was rushing constantly. I'll put it down as bad style or inexperience, but she was annoying! My conclusion is that I still love the place, but she must be either new at waiting, or she is normally working in a diner or denny's or someplace where people what it fast! So I would say that no one will complain about the fast turn-around after you order, but I think when people come to David' they are thinking about a relaxing dining experience and a place to go with friends and be able to talk without having to protect your meal from them. I didn't fill our a comment this time because the waitress is the one who picks it up. I should have done it and handed it to someone else or mailed it in. But I prefer to let someone else do the dirty work. The time before when we had Molly, we were highly impressed with her balanced friendly attentive but not hovering service! Perfect. The solution to bad service in my opinion is to simply ASK for the waitress we want next time!!! Molly Rocks! I still give David's 4 stars. I think this one overzealous waitress is the exception not the rule. So we will definitely stick with this place. Have I mentioned, ASK FOR MOLLY!

Great local place that really offers quality food. Nice to have that choice in Antioch. I have only had good experiances in the many dinners we have had. David is a friendly owners and offers cooking classes that my wife and friends really enjoyed. They even have a great weekly special for 2 diners. Also, price right for the food and area. Keep it up!

I love the food here and the service is usually good, except for my last visit. The service was atrocious. I can count on one hand the number of times we saw our waitress. It took a half hour to get my glass of wine while my food sat cold. She said she forgot to pick it up. Absolutely unacceptable. I had an obvious empty glass and she never came by ONCE after we got our food. She finally came to ask if we needed boxes.. Seriously? ARGH.

This place is amazing! I have been here twice now and the food is AMAZING! I would say that it is the quality food you would get at a four star restaurant in Chicago at a price that isn't going to drain your bank account. I got the 8oz filet in the picture and it was melt in your mouth good. It is also very nice to see the owner/chef walking around talking to customers.

Brie on toast points, red pepper soup and wedge salad were very good. Jumbo scallops and risotto were bland. A little pricey for the quality level.

David's Bistro offers food from gourmet pizza to steak and lobster combo. So it is for everyone stop by before going to the LMP theater or as a couple or a group. The food is very good for this location and the wait staff is extremely polite and efficient. Very interesting specials, wine by the glass and hands on owner makes this a pleasant visit. Some great fish and pasta choices on the menu!

This was GOOD! I had the David's Bistro Pasta and the Cream of Mushroom soup for lunch. Both were excellent and the service was great. I dined there on a week day at mid afternoon so it was just me and a guy at the bar. This often means half assed service and dried out food from the lunch rush. NOT here! Pasta was obviously made fresh and was so good. Oh, and it came with a basket of fresh bread. (One of my pet peeves is restaurants that serve pasta and don't offer free bread). I was a bit intimidated when I walked in because the decor is quite nice and they use glass and tablecloths but they didn't seem to mind at all. I'd normally say this is really good for this area but this would be really good for downtown Chicago or anywhere good food is found. The only caveat I can see is that the dining area is small and I imagine there is a wait for seating most evenings but I have yet to test that theory out. Even with a wait, Yumm! [end pasta induced happy dance]

David's Bistro is a quaint little restaurant in downtown Antioch. Went for a Saturday dinner with my fiance. Wait for a table was about 10 or 15 minutes, not too bad. We sat at the bar and had some specialty martinis, which were quite tasty. We got sat at a small candle lit table by the window. I liked the large window, giving you a good view of the outside. Our waitress was excellent, very attentive and friendly. For an appetizer, we ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip. It came with fried tortilla chips. The dip was very flavorful. It was like none I've ever tasted before. There was some special ingredient in there, but we just couldn't figure out what it was. Whatever it was, it was definitely a great recipe. For the entrees, I ordered Mama's Juicy Meatballs & Pasta...my fiance ordered Garlic Mushroom Spinach Tomato Pasta. Both of us had the same reactions to our entrees....they were just alright. We probably wouldn't order these entrees again if we went back. I'd be curious to try a non-pasta entree. Highlight of the meal was definitely the Spinach Artichoke Dip. I would go back for that, and the excellent service.

I don't know what to say. Is it possible that I'm the ONLY person who has had a bad (disgusting) meal here? That almost makes it worse! I rarely splurge on lamb chops but I did at David's and they were sold as LUSCIOUS new zealand grade, but were tough, untrimmed (frenched) as they should be. The fatty grisly meat was inedible, the side yellow squash and veggies were SANDY (how are vegetables not grown in sand-sandy?) and the mashed potatoes were tasteless and actually tasted so bad I wondered if they were potato flakes. I was with a customer, who ordered the rib eye steak and commented that the cut was insubstantial (thin) and side dishes-(calamari is like eating 'fried pebbles of batter and breading--without much, if any, calamari! ) I would have sent it all back but we had business to conduct and little time to explain/exchange and it could have wrecked the deal not to 'just 'roll' with it'. I will strongly suggest other area restaurants and warn anyone and everyone about David's. Like I said, maybe I'm the only lucky one to waste over 125.00 on a meal for two w/a bottle of wine.

I keep seeing reviews of David's Bistro as an "Italian " restaurant. Yes, there are some selections (pizzas & pastas) that certainly have an Italian origin, but to characterize David's as Italian, is a huge disservice. We (my wife & I) are frequent visitors, and have found the 'eclectic' menu absolutely diverse & wonderful...I believe it defies categorization. Hence, the 'bistro nomenclature is appropriate. As I have said in earlier reviews, my wife & I have always found something here to delight us, equally; though separately. I am not fond of any kind of fruit, puree, or other sweetness in my food; while she is totally fine with that. For this reason, we tend to go in very opposite directions when we order, including our cocktails). Anyone who wants to 'dis' "David's" has either caught them (him) at a (very rare) bad moment, or have honed their taste for finer food at "Golden Corral."

my family and i had a glorious time at david's bistro to celebrate my son's birthday! our server, molly was as sweet as can be, and helpful in every way possible. we started with a nice bottle of pinot noir and two orders of the sampler appetizer and the artichoke and spinach dip. the salad that came with our entrees were perfectly and freshly prepared. our main entrees consisted of the salmon in maple glaze, the scallops with the puff pastry, stuffed chicken, pecan encrusted tilapia, the spinach and mushroom pasta, the chicken marsala pasta and the kids pizza for my grandson. we all enjoyed every morsel! and for dessert we had two orders of the lava cake (one with a candle) and an adorable sundae for max. all in all it was a marvelous dining experience!

My wife and I have eaten here a few times. The food is excellent and appropriately priced. David has done a very nice job decorating the north half of his restaurant but the south side hasn't changed much since the location was DeMarco's. They would do well to decorate a bit more to create a nicer atmosphere on the south side. He's done a great job hiring an attentive staff. We'll definitely be returning in the future.

We have been trying to get to Davids since we moved to the area and enjoyed some of its items on the Winter wine walk. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The evening started well, we were seated right away and our waitress (Wendy) was attentive at the beginning. We ordered wine and one of their many martini's. Both were excellent, they brought out warm bread and honey butter which was also very enjoyable. Deciding on the Appetizer sampler was excellent. Everything on the sampler was different and very tasty. The salads and soup were good, but the dinners were not as we expected. Generally bland and not as tasteful as the expectations based on the pricing. I had the Mixed grill which was fried shrimp with an excellent homemade shrimp sauce, a filet with a mushroom gravy and 2 pieces of pork. The problem I had was the meat. My filet was stringy and hard to chew, and the pork was generally tasteless. My wife had the snapper special with Risotto and although the Risotto was good, the fish was bland also, She finished about half and did not take the rest home. The waitress seemed to forget about us at times and we needed to wait a while for water refills on an evening that was not busy (a tues evening) we really wanted to like Davids Bistro as we are local and really want to support a local restaurant. We will give them another try as there was real promise, but for the money, it was a bit disappointing. If you are looking for a gourmet evening in that price range, Ad-Lib Geo cafe 10 minutes down the road would be a better choice.

I grew up in Antioch but live in the city...I get back to visit my family, and this is my new favorite place!!! The food was excellent...rivals some of the best places I've been at home! Can't wait to get back. There is a cute wine shop next door that you can do tasting and order food from David's. Check it out as well!!

I love David's Bistro. We have never had a bad experience there. David's Bistro is also gluten free friendly for those with Celiac Disease, the choices are varied and tasty and they offer substitutions in the dishes that they can. No service problems for us ever. I love the "wedgie" salad, my favorite. Good martini choices. A reliable restaurant when we have out of towner's visit as well. A nice addition for the lovely town of Antioch...David is delightful should you meet him, adding to the enjoyment of the dining experience.

Great food and good prices. I used to go to the previous location and moved to lake county. This was a very nice surprise when we found out they moved to Antioch. This will be a regular spot in my family's dine out spots.
