Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I was here in January but forgot to comment. It's late August and we ate here last night. I enjoy this place. People are friendly. The place is clean. Service prompt and attentive. Food is good. Prices reasonable. My taco, tamale, enchilada, rice, and whole beans was basic but I have no complaints. Alcohol is what adds to the bill. Still, it's a popular place.

This place had some great food. This is the first Mexican restaurant to give refried beans and salsa with your chips, and by the way the beans are really good! It's been a long time since I've had shredded chicken that had flavor to it. It was a treat to find this little piece of Mexico in northern Idaho. We will definitely come back again when we are in the area.

Tonight was our first visit there, snd everything was amazing!!! We were greeted right when we came in, and seated right away. The resteraunt was clean, and the atmosphere was great! We were a party of 7,and our waitress got all our orders correct and never wrote down a thing! The food was amazing and very authentic!! It came out quickly, and everyone loved their meals and desserts!!! We will definitely be back the next time we visit Sandpoint from Spokane!! #ChileColorado #CarneAsada #ChickenTequitos #Beans&Rice #SteakFajitas #ChimiChanga #DeepFriedIceCream #Flan #Sopapillas #BESTREFRIEDBEANSEVER #Yumminess

Pretty disappointing. Has a chain restaurant feel to it, and reminds me more of a Mexican Applebee's than anything else. We ordered a platter with Chile Verde, Chile Colorado, and a Chile Relleno. The verde & colorado dishes could not have been more bland; there was an absence of seasoning throughout. Not helping matters were the cheap, mass-produced corn tortillas which you can buy in bulk at Costco and which taste simply terrible. The appetizer we ordered was described as "taquitos" but I can't say I recognized them as such. Totally unseasoned chicken, drowned out by the flavor of fat & deep-frying. When I make reference to Applebee's, it is because of high-fat, high-calorie appetizers like this. We could not finish them. I could not bring myself to order a margarita --- these things look like an insult to those people who appreciate a well-crafted margarita, using quality tequila and ingredients. I feel pretty confident in saying that they were using nothing more than pre-made margarita mix for these things. No thanks. The restaurant was full, and the staff was prompt and friendly. People obviously like this place, just like a lot of people like Applebee's & restaurants of that ilk. If you enjoy that kind of high-fat, high-calorie, low-flavor food, then this is a guaranteed hit. Just don't go calling this "authentic" Mexican, because it is anything but.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this place will satisfy the craving. Wonderful friendly service and delicious margaritas. Good size portions. The warm chips and salsa start things out right.

The food is good Mexican I from closer to the border so some of the spices tasted a little different and it was more expensive by about 20% but if you want a good Mexican burrito and some of the best service in town this the place to go. You never wait for anything and you are served by a team smiling and as if they enjoy you being there. If you have had a rough day this is the place to go to relax and enjoy being served.

Okay.... I have given this place, THREE tries.... And each time I have been severely disappointing... Bad service. Bad food. Just bad all around... I'm even going to go as far as saying HONESTLY you are better off, and will get better Mexican cuisine eating at Taco Bell...

So I've been to this restaurant a few times with an ok experience. This last time I was going with my sister and brother in law to get a nice lunch on mothers day. I had an Americano that I was bringing in with me and once I entered through the door the owner had an attitude towards me telling me I can't bring my drink in there. He told me I couldn't because I might have put tequila in my drink. Once we got our nachos that came up to almost 9 dollars there was barley any chips and almost no toppings except an excess of cheese. Very disappointing and overpriced. If you are in sandpoint go to joels or jalapenos.

Best mexican food in the panhandle. You can always except the same dish to have the same taste and flavor, which is excellent!! Any dish with the bacon wrapped shrimps are to die for.... Good service, friendly staff and a full bar to enjoy with your meal. We are done trying out the other so called mexican restaurants as we found the best..

Any review form 2013 back is no good, they are under new WONDERFUL ownership. The food is always hot and delicious! I am from Colorado where there is tons of great Mexican food, and this has been the first place in Idaho I have really liked.. other then Joel's... and the food here is very different then Joel's.

So, I just logged on and noticed I had a one-star review drafted in July for this place that said, "Horrible service. Overpriced, mediocre food." I remember that visit well. I met my husband for dinner on his "lunch break" around 5:30 PM. And that was an accurate review. I really never wanted to go again. However, given the fact that my husband works close by, we've given them a few more chances. Their lunch service is definitely better and faster. Dinner service has improved a bit, but that is more inconsistent. We've gone for dinner a few times since and have still had slow service and mediocre food, but it's usually better than that. My suggestion would be not to go if you are in a hurry in the evenings. Though they have improved, they are still just okay. Not great authentic Mexican food in general, but they do have a couple good dishes. The salsa and cabbage salsa are great and the staff is friendly.

I figured since it has been a while since the restaurant has been reviewed by me, I would update my review. We stayed away from here for over a year because of my three strike rule. We just recently came back, and what a difference! We have been 4 times now so I can post without having a "fluke" experience. Food has greatly improved. I highly recommend asking for them to make some of their "hot" salsa. It's amazing. Staff is incredibly friendly too.

Fellow brown person here (from Florida)! I've also lived in TX where they have wonderful Mexican food. I was sure it was going to be hard finding good Mexican food after moving to such a small town, thought maybe I would have to open up my own Mexican restaurant ;) This place is great! We always order to go and they know us and are always friendly. There was one night I called to place an order and hadn't noticed the time, they were just closing. I told the guy that answered that I had a really long and crummy day (seriously, like super rotten day) and I just wanted to end my night with some of their Mexican food. They were kind enough to make our food after closing. We will always order from them. Now if they could just get some Tres Leches Cake!!! ;) PS. We also really love this small town =) (The food we've tried: cheese enchiladas, rice and beans, hot salsa [I make my own salsa and I must say, this is pretty darn good!])

One of our favorite restaurants in the area! Good food, great service! We love the happy smiling faces at Fiesta Bonita! I too had a bad experience in the past. The new owners have turned this place around!!

The food was amazingly good but, while I'm typically not a complete germaphobe, the salt & pepper shakers & menus were sticky with grimy fingerprints making it a little hard for me to feel completely comfortable eating there... Went back in Early May. It's definately gone downhill. Womens bathroom smelled like sewage was backing up. Another patron said it had been like that for a month. Waited 20 minutes for a server in a virtually empty restaraunt but finally gave up & left. The one waiter was very rude upon our leaving, but that was the only time he acknowledged us. Won't be back.

We have visited several times since it changed owners. WOW! What a difference! Tasty food ,friendly efficient service and most importantly it's clean! Large size portions. Start with delicious warm tortilla chips with three sauces: Salsa, Pico De Gallo and beans! Try the amazing Fiesta sampler platter! We are pleased to have a restaurant where a family of 8 can afford to eat for a special occasion.

So I came to this place expecting nothing up to par from what I am used to (I'm sure). I am from San Diego, and I rightfully feel I have good taste when it comes to mexican food [Southern California Mexican food that is (for all you hardcore mexican coneseuirs that say burritos aren't in mexico ha)] Anyway, my Aunt and Uncle praised this place and told me it had good drinks so who cares, right? WRONG! New owner, no liquor license, horrible service, and the worst mexican food ever. I don't know how you can get watery refried beans with no flavor, but they managed to do it. They even had the same drink menu from the previous owner on the table, just to get my hopes up when the waitress (who is talking to the only other customer in the restaurant) takes 15 minutes to get to our table and tell us about how the business has changed and how pretty much we could look forward to a soda and water for the meal. I ordered a burrito plate that came with a side of beans; the beans were just this swampy substance and the meat was aweful, I'd compliment on the drink, but that was made by cocacola so they get no credit. My Aunt and Uncle live in Sand Point, and told me they will never eat there again, and I also hope this deters anyone from wasting their money because it will be exactly that. Cheers! FYI- I ate at this location in January 2013.

Loved it! Great family setting and food. We'll be back. Great service as well. The kids both loved the quesadilla and the burritos. The shredded beef taco combo was good as expected. Fast service and fun atmosphere.

Their food is what you would expect from Mexican food in North Idaho. Their margaritas aren't bad but outside of that there is no real reason to go here.
