The inside was a little dark for my liking. The chips were warm and fresh and plenty of them. I didn't care too much for the two types of salsas but my wife liked them. The enchiladas and tamales were really good. The sauce tasted fresh and more authentic than other places in the area and not like it was from a can. Our friends from Mexico also confirmed the food here is probably the most authentic Mexican food in Boise. Our server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Will all you gringos please stop ordering sizzling fajitas? That is not Mexican food! LOL

The worst Mexican Restaurant i ever been. I order camarones a la diablas and instead i got mushrooms a la diabla i counted my shrimp 5 in total the rest were mushrooms, the salsa was so greasy, the rice didn't have any flavor. For the kids menu i order a. Chicken quesadilla for my almost 2 year old boy what we got was this huge plate with a huge portion of food nothing like a "kids meal". The server was politr but he looked like he didn't wanted to be there. My conclusion is. I will never ever go to this place again. If you guys want real mexican/sea food go to tacos y mariscos el compa located in caldwell is far but i promise you would like it

One of my favorite places to go for dinner! The service is always fantastic! I absolutely love the red salsa.

This restaurant starts your dining experience off by serving you with 2 types of salsa in addition to the bean dip. You get salsa Rojo and salsa verde. The verde had a nice little kick to it. My wife had the carne asada burrito and I had the fajitas. Both were good but the fajitas were the outstanding selection of the night. Service was great and friendly. They will definitely be seeing us again.

The food was less than memorable and ridiculously overpriced. The atmosphere was cheap and unpleasant. The server was quiet and distant, but polite. I regret eating at Cancun Mexican.

Best food in Boise. Are you kidding me? I would rather starve than eat this bland uninspired collect of ingredients. The price is utterly ridiculous. Skip it. If you are ignorant to believe they serve Mexican food, then you deserve what you get.

It's unfortunate that this restaraunt is tucked away in the back corner of a crummy Overland strip mall, because it serves some of the best mexican food in the Boise area. The chips and salsa come with a verde salsa, red salsa, and bean dip. My dad claims that the bean dip is some of the best he's ever had, and he's almost 60. Yikes! The menu is delightfuly familiar yet varied enough to offer a bit of everything for everyone; from vegetarian to meat-lover. The wait-staff was friendly and helpful; I've been here several times and have never recieved below-average service. I greatly enjoy this hidden mexican gem, and would recommend it to anybody in the mood for some excellent south-of-the-border fair. Ole!!!

We are new to the area in the last couple of years, Cancun was recommended by family members - what a delight! Sure, the buffet is small, but the food is wonderful and homemade - with Mama manning the grill at the buffet delivering those wonderful fresh tortillas. The chili relenos are great, as are the other buffet offerings. Always consistent, fresh and tasty - our go to for good sit down Mexican food.

The worst !!!! First the margarita sucked. Then waitstaff was very slow and rude. To top it off I got food poisoning from this restaurant. Will never eat there again

The first time we went to Cancun, I thought it was a little expensive for not-too-exciting Mexican food. Today we went, planning to order off the menu, but ended up getting the lunch buffet because we saw fresh corn tortillas being made. Yum! It was very good - fresh and flavorful and varied. I had an enchilada, a chile relleno, and some chicken in a red sauce that was very lean and good, plus a couple of those tasty fresh tortillas. The service is very friendly. And it wasn't expensive - maybe last time I was feeling broke or we ordered margaritas or something . . .

Best Mexican food in Boise. Best service, hands down and the nicest staff I've ever encountered. They always make you feel welcome and the food is always top notch. I haven't had bad food or service there, EVER.

My wife and I went for the lunch buffet--go straight for the carnitas tacos. They make fresh corn tortillas that rock! The chicken tacos are also good stuff. Skip the shrimp and ground beef though.

I like the buffet but I think the variety could be better something better than 2 kinds of encheldas and eggs and potatoes stuff

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
