The Club Car is a sweet little gem. Love coming here for a business lunch or a dinner with the family. I haven't had a meal here where I wasn't pleased. Really good place to go. Nice neighborhood place.

We were on a trip to Wichita Kansas and stopped for the night. We looked for a restaurant and found the clubcar. I ordered a dry martini. It seriously was among the best I've had. My wife had an old fashion. She said it was one of the best she's had. We weren't very hungry so we had a hamburger and onion rings. I should say a half order of onion rings. The burgers were great! We couldn't eat all of the rings. Service was very good. We'll go back when we're in the area

Been here 2 times when traveling for business. Got the ribeye both times. REAL GOOD. wait staff is awesome. No complaints.

Consistently good. Usually order Georgia pork sandwich or a burger. Buns are good. Salads are fresh. I think we really like it because the same people are working there, year after year. The husband and wife owners are always up front ready to greet you, the wait staff turn over is very little. And they remember us even if we don't go there for months. That tells me they treat their employees well and I want to support that kind of business!

First time here and food was excellent. Steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly - much better than many places that charge twice as much. Chicken DeBurgo also well seasoned. Sauces all homemade and great. This place is a great find for a comfortable dinner with great food. Will definitely go back.

My wife and I have been a couple times. The first time was over a year ago and we both had some pretty good sandwiches. That trip would have been a 3.5. We returned recently as we have moved closer and wanted something different. The service was excellent. Everything else was just ok. Our drinks (foo foo martini and old fashioned) weren't bad, but both were sweeter than desired. My prime rib was average with a lot of fat. The wife's steak de burgo lacked flavor and was also average. This trip was a 2.5. We might return for happy hour, but not for a $60 dinner.

Casual, convenient and affordable, but food is uninspiring and the setting is bleak. Best deal is happy hour after 3pm. Wish they would add a turkey burger and fish tacos to the menu, but that might be too daring for them.

Wow, this place was a delightful surprise. We brought a group of 10 in on a Saturday night and were seated right away. Everyone had something different: sandwiches, pizza, and Italian dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty. The pasta sauces were all house-made and light. Try the rigatoni.

Club Car is a wonderful train-themed restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff. As a previous reviewer has noted, Club Car does have an 80's atmosphere, and seems to be a staple for many families and couples. If you go on a Friday night, like we did, be sure to arrive early as Club Car fills up rather quickly after 6:30pm. It has a great bar area and a spacious dining area. Most importantly, the food is delicious. I had the very delicious Club Car Mac & Cheese. It is made with Fontina and Gouda cheeses, and includes green peas and chunks of real bacon. You can add chicken, which I did, for $3.00. The cheese was creamy, the pasta was perfectly cooked and the bacon added a wonderful touch for the tasty bliss that is the Club Car Mac & Cheese. My girlfriend ordered the nachos for an appetizer and the Veggie Pasta for her entree. I must admit, the nachos left a lot to be desired - just a few multi-colored tortilla chips with a handful of melted cheese, olives, chives, and a dollop of sour cream. Good nachos need tons of cheese and gracious helpings of other toppings. This miscue, however, had little affect on my overall opinion of Club Car. The Veggie Pasta came with lots of fresh veggies including red onion, squash, zucchini, red peppers, and green peppers. An added bonus is that you can choose your own sauce and pasta when ordering the Veggie Pasta. My girlfriend chose the pesto cream sauce and rigatoni pasta. Finally, our server was friendly and attentive. We both left full and happy. I look forward to our next trip to Club Car, and recommend that you add Club Car to your dining queue!

I cannot say enough good things about Club Car. This is the perfect place for a business lunch, a fun happy hour or a romantic dinner. It is quite amazing that one restaurant can be perfect for any number of occasions. The staff is very skilled- attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and just overall wonderful. The happy hour bartender is fun and remembers everyone's drinks even after just one visit. Shonna is my favorite server but I really can't complain about any of my experiences. As I work very close to Club Car, sometimes we just order take out and even those orders are handled very well. Some places tend to not give the same care for the to-go orders but Club Car shows they appreciate each and every customer. The food is delicious. I love the burgers, the soups, the quiches and the buffalo chicken salad. I order a variety of items - I usually pick the salad unless there is a soup that I can't pass up and then I pair it with a quiche or a sandwich. Oh - the spicy chicken sandwich is good too- I almost forgot to mention it! If you haven't been to the Club Car- you really must go - anytime of day, any size of group - just go!!! One more thing - they have the best happy hours!!! 1/2 price appetizers - must get the ravioli! And the drinks are super cheap and super yummy!!!

disappointed with the food today. Went here on the 20th and the food was excellent. today got there at 4:00, ate in the lounge. Ordered a chicken sandwich that wasn't like the one I had on the 20th. the chicken didn't even fill the bun and was dry. the bun was a thin bun not like what was served on the 20th. the onion rings were greasy. must be a different cook after 4 than the one at noon.

After driving all day, we were looking for some comfort food to finish our day. The description on Yelp was spot on. This is a supper club type set up but the food was great. My wife ordered the ribeye and I ordered the Cuban Pork Loin. Both meats were grilled to perfection. My wife's steak was perfectly medium rare with a nice outside sear on it and my port had a great sear with the meat still juicy. The Cuban loin came with a fresh mango salsa which had the right blend of heat and sweet and worked with the pork. It was the best restaurant baked potato I have had in a very long time. The salads were very fresh and the homemade dressings were a nice touch. Susie, our waitress, was very friendly, had a great understanding of all the dishes on the menu and helped with recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. If I lived closer, I would visit more often. Frank

Great food and service. In the area for one night, and found this on several web-sites. Had a late dinner which was excellent. The walnut chicken was well prepared, tasty and served hot. The tortellini was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Portion sizes were good..lots of food but not huge. Service was excellent. It's a fun place. Definitely will eat here again next time I'm in the area.

The Club Car is my favorite restaurant!! It is locally owned and you go there twice and they make it feel like you've known them forever! They've gotten to know my family for a while and they even got us a Christmas present! The bread is AMAZING. My favorite dish is the burger! Every family gathering we have we go there, I like to think of that because they feel like family. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. They also have a theme of trains. Which. Of course, is awesome. GO HERE NOW. It's delicious.

Ok so where do I start... The atmosphere is nice for families. It definitely wasn't what I imagined because of the name! The waiter I had was a guy who happened to be great!!! He was very knowledgeable of the items on the menu. I tried the cheesy vegetable soup and it was delicious!!! No complaints at all!! For my entree' I decided to get the Salmon that was baked in some type of parchment paper with garlic and lemons. There wasn't much flavor to the dish. The waiter was so kind and asked me if i would like to change my meal, but I didn't feel that was necessary. It was ok but I don't think I would choose that specific dish again. I didn't try the dessert but per the waiter, their dessert selection is pretty nice! Although my meal wasn't perfect I did enjoy the 80's feel and if ever in Iowa again I would definitely try them out for a second round!

We asked for a recommendation from our hotel for a good local restaurant. This is not just good, it has great tasting food. Had Georgia pork sandwich and BBQ ribs. Cheesy Phili steak soup was outstanding! Even the fresh veggi broccoli was seasoned great. The ribs fell off the bone and had the sweetest sauce, which didn't overpower. Our waitress was fun natured and service was really accommodating! We will go back when back to Des Moines!!

Excellent service and awesome food here at this restaurant! Ordered a burger that was grilled to perfection and washed it down with a Boulevard Wheat. The place was quiet and a very nice atmosphere unlike your typical corporate owned restaurants that are loud and uninviting. I highly recommend dining here.

If there was a zero stars I would give this place just that. Terrible experience tonight at the club car. The waitress, who told us she was rushing to get off to celebrate her birthday accidentally spilled my drink all over me, jeans, coat and all. Replaced my drink but didn't even offer to comp my drink or any part of my dinner and even had the nerve to charge me the 25 cents for the ranch on the side I ordered. The dinner wasn't even good. I'm sitting here at almost 2 a.m. with a stomach ache from that nasty rarebit. Completely horrible experience I would have complained to the manager but I was with friends and didn't want to make a scene. They were already giving me crap for leaving the waitress a note about common logic that when you spill a drink all over a customer, you are supposed to be polite and at least comp something on the bill for crying out loud. A manager didn't even stop by to see how our table or me, who had my drink all over me, was doing during the evening. This place totally sucks. I won't be back, ever.

The bar tender we had was very nice and we were told he was very good at making drinks and remembering what you had if you come in again. I had a long island and it was pretty good, a bit strong but it was tasty. So if you are looking to have a drink, or a cocktail at a nice quiet place with friends I would suggest the Club Car.
