Looks can be deceiving. The french doors by the river are charming but the food and drinks can be hit or miss. The bloody mary has a nice taste profile but weak on the booze. This restaurant purports a southern Creole menu. I dined here twice. First for sunday brunch with a river view. Bear in mind it's a popular brunch spot. I liked the crab cake hollandaise with the green tomato which added some acid to balance the flavors. Not a fan of the grits. For dinner I had the creole shrimp. Disappointed. Ample frozen baby shrimp but weak flavor. We're in Georgi bring in the FRESH shrimp. All you could taste was canned tomatoes over undercooked rice. My recommendation is visit this establishment if you are on vacation for a sweet view but order the casual menu items... beignets, sandwiches, etc.

Got the crabcake bendict and the seafood omelet. Absolutely amazing brunch spot in one of my favorite cities in the world.

Slow service and very crowed. The food was not that good and we never saw our server.

excellent place for brunch with a beautiful view of the ever-so-lovely river street. The red beans and rice with shrimp were some of the best I've had. Oh, and how could I forget about the grits?!?

  • Izzie Z.

Great sandwiches for lunch! Our group got po boys and muffaletta's and everything was delicious! We got coffee and beignets to finish the meal and they were as good as the New Orleans beignets!

I just love this place. It can be a little noisy but everything else is perfect. Great wait staff and the food is really really good. Makes you think of New Orleans!

If you are looking for a reminder of New Orleans food, it works. Had local IPA and muffuletta with red beans & rice. Complimentary beignets were a treat!

Expect a wait! The bellinis are a must. They use homemade peach sorbet and have a small bottle of champagne; absolutely adorable. I loved my eggs Benedict with crab cake and fried green tomato with a side of garlic Parmesan grits which is garlicky. The oyster po boy was also delicious.

A couple staying at the same B&B had recommended this place. We ordered the red beans and rice, Caesar salad with shrimp, seafood platter, and filet mignon (husband was dying for a steak). Everything was okay. The food that was given wasn't the best but their beignets were pretty good (almost as good as the ones in Nola). It does have a great view by the river and the service was pretty good (and it was crazy busy in there).

  • Nadein G.

I had the shrimp and grits and they were really good I just wish they had bacon in them. Beignets were delicious and the creole omelet was good! Mike our server gave excellent service!! The restaurant has a great view and good coffee!

Huey's We chose these based partially on the yelp reviews and partially off their website and menu. This was one of our favorite meals of our trip to Georgia. Definitely 5 stars. Very fairly priced and very delicious. Our server was so sweet and nice, indulgent and patient. The atmosphere was unique right near the river. The trip to the bathroom was an adventure as it is hosted by a nearby restaurant. The kids ordered "Kids Toast" which was a egg in a basket (or fried egg in a thick multigrain bread toasted), one with fruit the other with mashed potatoes. Though the potatoes were on be sweet side, they were yummy and eaten by an adult instead. The fruit was generous and a variety. Also ordered was the kids French toast with yummy pecan butter - generous portioned. AND each kids meal came with a free beignet! And they really were the best I've ever had. We started with some fried green tomatoes - delicious! Never had them before this, and I'm glad we tried them here. The remoulade was perfect. Our main dishes were a crab cake eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes and besides being a little fishy, it was super yummy served with garlic Parmesan grits (my first experience with those and it was a good one). The other dish was a shrimp Po' boy with red beans and rice, both excellent. We almost always try dessert and here, we opted for the bread pudding, chocolate pecan pie and another order of beignets this time with praline sauce (worth the extra). The desserts were wonderful. Bread pudding is usually our favorite and though it was good, I especially loved the chocolate pecan pie, though our favorite was the beignets. You should definitely eat here. There were so many more yummy items on the menu, too. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

We went here for Brunch. The bartender was not very personable, but our orders were right. The breakfast potatoes are amazing! $11 for a mimosa was a little more than we wanted to pay. Overall, I would try it again.

All the locals we talked to recommended this place to us on our trip to Savannah and it was so disappointing. The location is gorgeous but the service was awful (took 30 minutes to put our order in and there were plenty of empty tables). The food came out cold. The waiter didn't check in on us or ask us about our meals that were left barely touched. Maybe we caught them on an off day but this place was very disappointing despite the recommendations.

    (1)
  • Lori R.

We had a great dinner here. I would recommend this for a great Savannah vide.

We have been dinning at Huey's for many years every time we visit Savannah we eat here. During one visit we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here. The food has alway been wonderful and the service great. I'm glad I checkin using Yelp this time because we took advantage of the checkin special " free Beignet" and they were wonderful.

  • Norra T.

It was overall good food. The wait time was 1 hour on a Saturday during dinner. Cornbread served was delicious. Nothing special about the place except it was nice to be on the riverfront.

Savannah + Best friends + some good southern food = a perfect weekend. I get up to Savannah quite frequently, as my best friends only live 2 hours away, so when I visit them in Jax, we hop on over to Sav! We normally, try to do a nicer restaurant for dinner before going out, and we hadn't tried Huey's yet. YUMMMMMM Honestly, I am not sure what everyone else got, because I was too excited and in love with mine. The weather was pretty crappy that night and they were doing construction inside the restaurant. they sat us right next to the tarp in a cramped corner, which I didn't like, but the service made up for it and if it weren't for the rain, the view of River Street would have been awesome. Our waitress was very friendly. We were given corn bread to start and I ordered Sangria. The corn bread was oh so moist and perfect. The sangria was actually pretty good, especially because I am not normally a fan. I ordered the crab cake sandwich with Parmesan garlic grits on the side. OH MY WORD YALL!!!! I think I would go back just for those grits. Crab cake wasn't bad, but I have definitely had better. My friend got the shrimp and grits which were phenomenal but a little on the pricey side ($26). These grits were perfect and the butter sauce in them, oh my goodness. I may be drooling as I type. I got to try the fried okra spears as well. These were very good. The breading was just enough and the okra was fresh! I wanted to try the beignets for dessert but we were too stuffed! Maybe next time. Really this would have been 4 stars had it not been for the interior construction of the restaurant, where they sat us, and the prices. But alas, the food was delicious and service was good too. I would go back! See you soon Savannah!

Huey's On the River looks and feels like your average tourist trap restaurant up until the moment you're sitting down with the food. I came here late Sunday morning with a friend, mainly because the other brunch options near where we were staying were either not open yet or closed for the day. The hostess told us that there'd be a 25 minute wait, but we were seated in less than 10 minutes of waiting outside in the muggy Georgia heat. The service was outstanding, as expected of a restaurant that constantly caters to out-of-towners; they do have a Yelp check-in offer for a free beignet, but I decided to forego it because neither of us had a sweet tooth between us. I ordered the Crawfish Etouffee and by far it was the best breakfast meal I had on this trip; my buddy ordered one of the Egg Benedicts with a side of Portuguese sausage and told me he'd enjoyed it as well. A solid choice for breakfast despite the 3.5 star review -- I guess never judge a book by its cover no matter how tourist-trap-y that cover may seem.

You will be satisfied with the food and the service. I came here for breakfast around 9am and there was a little wait. Our order was the Pain Perdue which is French Toast with Butter Pecan Butter. I'm not sure what type of bread was used but it was slightly crispy on the outside soft and buttery on the inside. No sides come with this meal. The other meal that was ordered was the shrimp and grits. That meal very flavorful. They use parmesan cheese in their grits. I would recommend this place to visitors.

The pressure was on! Would Huey's rise to the occasion for our special Christmas Eve breakfast and blow our minds by taking the vacation to its culinary climax or would I feel dejectedly disappointed for paying an over-inflated price for frozen dinner food? As I raised the fork to my mouth I thought, "I paid $15 for this special Eggs Benedict, I hope it's good." We had ordered the Eggs Benedict layered with a Fried Green Tomato and a Crab Cake. Huey's was spot on with its complex merging of different southern staples into one meal! Bravo! I tasted in turn the salty savoriness of the Crab Cake as the tart crunch of the Fried Green Tomato came into play. The softness of the English Muffin was married into poached egg and I gleefully scooped up some hollandaise sauce to top it off. A+ for the extra creamy Garlic Parmesan Grits too. The classic southern dish was elevated higher as we watched the multicolored riverboats glide on by through the full length glass walls for a tranquil view of the river. We also ordered some Beignets and Café au laits. While they were not as amazing as Café Du Monde in New Orleans, they sure were a lot of fun and added to the festiveness of the day! The service was friendly, efficient, and they spilt our immense order of Eggs Benedict onto two different plates with our *own* portion of grits without even being asked. Huey's, thank you so much for giving us such a special Holiday memory!

We have been here several times, and typically bring people busting from out of town, and the love the food and view! I have had the shrimp po boy, vegetarian mufletta, and the crab pasta. The beniet with praline sauce is a must! A decent effort for Louisiana fare!

Bloody marys were watery. The service good. Too many sweet drinks. Nothing for adult pallets. Fried green toms were ok but the breading was flying off

Wow. Just.... wow! I had Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict. The sauce was a little sparce, but it all tasted delicious. The beignets were to die for! Oh my goodness. Just the best thing, ever!

This is my wife and mine go to restaurant when we go to Savannah! We first went there in july 1989 for our honeymoon and ended up eating all our meals there! We love the breakfast and their burgers for lunch super yum! Great view form the glass window/doors. Well worth it if you go to river street. By the way you can get a coupon at the Georgia visitor center for a free beignets. Wow! so good.

Way overrated. I am a fried green tomatoes junkie. I researched places in Savannah and saw that this place was highly rated. The tomatoes had too much batter. Like they were double dipped. Totally took away from the experience. Plus they were mushy. The bartender was inattentive and anytime I said thank you, he replied with "no problem". Really, no problem for you to do your job and earn tips? I will not go back. The Cotton Exchange Tavern has an awesome tomato and the bartender cares about your experience.

Came here with my boyfriend on a weekend trip to Savannah. Huey's is located along this short riverside strip of tourist shops and restaurants. Walking along here, you can immediately tell that Huey's is the most popular place on the river. The wait was long! But the service was great, friendly, and attentive. They don't forget who you are even when you've been waiting 30+ minutes. My boyfriend got the red beans and rice, which he really enjoyed. I got the crawfish etoufee, which I loooved. I love that cajun spicy taste and I discovered that crawfish is delicious. A lot of other people ordered brunch-y foods that didn't look too memorable, but I recommend what we ordered. And of course, the beignets!

We've eaten here a number of times for breakfast and have never been disappointed. The omelets are large and tasty. The Eggs Benedict is also very good. The grits and the beignets are awesome. Service is usually pretty good. And the view of the river is very pleasant. You can't go wrong here for breakfast. It's one of the best breakfast spots in town!

Huey's seems to have deteriorated a bit since our last visit a few years ago. The service was okay, but more disappointing was that we were underwhelmed with the food. We went on New Year's Day, so we were expecting some issues. I had to use the bathroom first thing, and found the facilities filthy and there was no toilet paper in the stall. The French onion soup I ordered was tasty, but arrived to the table cold. It was also kind of thrown on the table by an unkempt-looking food runner, but I digress. I sent it back and it came back slightly warmer. Our waiter apologized for the spotty service and told us that they were understaffed as several employees had called out that day. He seemed a bit frazzled and the service started out spotty, but to his credit he recovered throughout the meal. Our waiter also told us that the restaurant was out of salads of any type, which was ok, we weren't planning on having salad anyway, but throughout the meal, tables around us kept receiving salads. We just found it odd. My mom had the shrimp and grits which were delicious. Nice and garlicky and very tasty. I had the seafood combo platter which came with fried oysters and shrimp, which was good. My dad had the muffuletta, which was tasty in and of itself, but he was disappointed it wasn't warmer on the inside. Also the fried okra he ordered seemed to have needed a few more minutes in the fryer. The beignets we had for dessert were honestly the highlight of the meal for me. They came three to an order, were warm, and served with a delicious toffee caramel sauce. Overall, Huey's disappointed in what has been an excellent culinary experience for us in Savannah.

I had the fried green tomato sandwich and it was Amazing! My husband had the blackened chicken sandwich and it was delicious , just spicy enough ! The service was excellent. There was a 45 min wait but it's because this place is so popular.

5 for food 4 for service We had a lovely brunch yesterday before heading back to Atlanta. The beignets and cafe au lait are legit. My husband had the crab cake eggs benedict and I had the turkey/cheese hot sandwich. Both were awesome! Our particular server was a little lacking, but there was another guy there who was working his butt off and helped us out when we couldn't find our guy a couple times.

Stop in at Huey's on River Street if you get to Savannah! The very best Beignets you ever tasted... Covered, of course, with powdered sugar. They will box up what you cannot finish. Our fabulous waiter, Bradley, a native, but educated with two degrees from PIttsburgh; was attentive, helpful, and Knows the menu! The crab cakes, shrimp and grits, fresh caught fish of the day, are all worth your palette. The fried green tomatoes are not to be missed! Additionally the Key Lime pie is heartily recommended. Stop after lunch or dinner down the street at the Savannah Candy Company for the World's Best Pecan Pralines and Salt Water Taffy; all made right in front of you and as fresh as you can buy.

My family stopped here for brunch on our way back home from Orlando, FL. My husband came here about 20 years ago and remembered that it was very good so he decided that we should go eat here as the restaurant was on our way home (with a slight detour). We ordered the following: 1. Beignets (This was free as we used the coupon on Yelp) 2. Fried Green Tomatoes 3. Pain Perdu 4. Crawfish Etoufee 5. Creole Omlet Everything was very good especially the fried green tomatoes. I tried making my own fried green tomatoes once and it was terrible so now I know what the good stuff tastes like. The beignets were very soft and tasty. I thought they were sprinkled with just the right amount of sugar. My crawfish etoufee was very good. The portion was very big and I had some rice left over on my plate. Since I was so stuffed, I couldn't try the other 2 dishes (with the exception of 1 bite of the grits -- so so good), but my husband and son cleaned their plates anyway. I would have given them the sixth star if they offer to roll me to my car. I ate so much food that it was my only meal that day.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary weekend in Savannah and decided to get a bite to eat while enjoying the festivities on the riverfront. The food was good. I had the blackened chicken breast sandwich with fries, and my husband had the Jazz burger which he enjoyed. The service was not great; I think the crowds coming in and out were too great for the staff to keep up. We had to ask (30 mins later ) to get the complimentary bread and when we got it it was cold and dry. Overall, the food was good however the ambiance wasn't great.

Worth the wait! I had the daily special, sweet potato hash with andouille sausage. My husband had a omelet; their breakfast potatoes are to die for! Highly recommend a side of beignets, they were so good. Alcohol isn't served until 12:30, so plan on arriving later if you want your brunch with Mimosas or a Bloody Mary.

This place was great, service was fast and our waiter was very pleasant! And the beignets were delicious, my husband and i both had french toast, be warned it was alot of food! I recommend this place!

Loved the free beignets last night! The praline sauce tastes oddly familiar and tasty! I went with a friend just last night and the atmosphere was so classy and cute. We had a table right by the window, which is great for people watchers. I got the Pasta Jambalaya hoping it'd be great, but it was just slightly above "decent". Instead of it being an actual pasta dish, the texture was more of a soup w/ noodles. Loved our waiter, though I forgot his name. The crawfish dip was delish & if you want a drink with your dinner, get the sangria! It's not too strong or too weak & the flavor is pretty good! I'll come again, though I'll probably try one of the dishes in the restaurant's actual specialty (like the shrimp & grits).

Great shrimp and grits and muffaletta. Expected it to be touristy because of it's beautiful seafront location, but the food was great. They've also got excellent local beers and friendly bartenders.

I ordered the shrimp and grits. I was expecting your traditional creamy stone ground grits topped with large shrimp covered in a succulent gravy. Not so much. It was a small bowl of textureless parmesan grits (really, I think instant grits have more texture) topped with small shrimp and a broth. While it wasn't offensive to my taste buds, it didn't exactly make them sing either. The highlight of the meal were the beignets - hot and covered with powdered sugar. Not quite Cafe Du Mon's, but pretty darn tasty!

Stopped by to look at dinner menu but found the breakfast menu enticing. We were in town for a few days but decided to head there for Sat breakfast. We were not disappointed. Started w/ the Sangria, then beignets, then on to the eggs Benedict ....... Fabulous food. Sisters ordered omelettes and the French Toast special w/ fresh berries. We all enjoyed everything. Then I had a second Sangria to top it all off. Best way to spend a Sat morning.

Good breakfast place to eat. Great view of river. Food was good. We had to wait a while but that was expected since it was the weekend. Service was a little slow but the place was slammed. Biegnets were awesome...found out after from a local that they have a pralene dipping sauce that is out of this world for them. Since the waiter didnt even mention it I deducted a star lol !!! I do want to go back and try the french toast.

The beignet alone earns them 5-stars. This beignet with the praline sauce is the best beignet I have ever had. Better than Cafe Du Monde's in New Orleans. We collectively had the fried shrimp, fried oysters, red beans, rice + andouille sausage and the muffuletta. The food was good. The service was good. The place is cute and the view fabulous. Yes, it's a tourist spot but isn't that what touring is all about!?!? We were a party of 3 and spent $80.- This included a Bloody Mary. We loved the place and will definitely be back. Enjoy!

We vacation in Savannah several times each year and Huey's is one of the few places we hit every time. Sometimes more than once each trip. If you don't get the beignets, you haven't lived!

Best Bloody Mary in town! Awesome deal on mimosas, an entire split for $9. Crab benny and shrimp and grits were phenom! Beignets better than nola and the roast beef poboy was HUGE!

  • Crystal M.

Entrees not as good as appetizers. It's ok...edible but not great :( so i had the crawfish étouffée (not as good as pappadeaux, definitely not as good as some I had in New Orleans, it's not really authentic). My girl had the frittata that was just ok. What's Good??!!?? The drinks!! The fried green tomatoes!! The beignets!!!

Good breakfast spot. The eggs benedict was ok not stellar. Homemade hollandaise sauce was good but the seafood omelet was the best plate on the table. Get here early if you don't want to wait.

Huey's on the river is quaint, with a lot of indoor space and some outdoor seating (a lot of people outside brought their dogs with them). Since it is right on River street, it is pretty touristy but the food is good. It is new Orleans style food so they have a lot of specialty items, even a vegetarian muffaletta (doesn't that kind of defeat the point??) My eggs were poached well and the highlight of the meal was the free beignet with the Yelp Check in (thanks Yelp!!!!)

I had the crawfish etouffee and it was delicious but a bit spicy for me. Such a fun brunch spot-- amazing bloody mary's and mimosas! Make a reservation in advance!

I thought Huey's was good, but falling short of great. In reality I'd like to give 3.5 stars, but went with 4 due to the delicious and FREE beignets we got with our yelp check in! Started with a dirty martini which was great. About $10/$11 but it was worth it. Appetizer was fried green tomatoes and they were reasonably priced at $7. I enjoyed them for my first time trying this southern staple. For dinner I shared the shrimp and crab augratin with my friend. We both agreed that it was wayyyy too cheesy and "crabby" tasting (not lump but almost blended crab, tuna fish salad texture). The shrimp weren't very big at all. I didn't finish my half. The sides of red beans and rice were great though. Finished up with beignets. Yum! Tons of sugar but delicious. Service overall was good but not great. Food missed the mark based on my expectations. View of the water from dining room was very nice. I'd definitely go back but would try a different entree.

We went for brunch for my birthday. We had mimosas and bloody Mary's which were fantastic. I had the seafood omelette with potatoes, but I thought they were more like dinner potatoes than breakfast potatoes. My bf had gumbo and crawfish étuffe. Both were delicious. My mom has the crab cake Benedict and that was fantastic as well. I want to go back just to eat the other things in the menu. We sat outside for no wait and out server was great.

We had breakfast here three mornings in a row and it was delish! Everything we tried tasted fresh and good. The beignets were so light and fluffy. The service was very good as well. We will definitely be back next vacation. Great view of the river as well. :)

I had high hopes for Sunday brunch at Huey's. My girlfriend and I grabbed a couple seats at the bar and ordered some Bloody Mary's. The mix that they use has a nice kick to it, and it was probably the best drink I had on my weekend trip in Savannah. We scored a couple free beignets (pronounced ben-yays for the newbies) with a pair of Yelp app check-ins. The airy sugary pastries were a welcomed treat for me! For entrees, we ordered the shrimp & grits and a crab benedict. The shrimp & grits were a clear winner. However, the crab bennie swung and missed; Unfortunately, it was burnt on the bottom. I decided to eat the top of the crabcake and not raise a fuss. I informed our bartender at the end of our meal, and she apologized (no comped meal). The dining room is nice and bright and the restaurant is along River Street. It felt like we were eating in an older house and not a restaurant. I would look elsewhere for brunch next time I am in Savannah, but this isn't a bad choice overall.

Had Breakfast here today, I went with the eggs benedict which was above avg but not the best I have had, Joann went with the French toast which was superb. Maybe the best French toast we both have had. Over all an great place to eat and enjoy the water front area. We sat outside, perfect way to start a great day in Savanah.

What a disappointment- especially after having brunch at Rocks on the River at the Bohemian- puts this place to shame. The service here was even worse- we had some older lady named Sharon as our server. She was so rude- we had one person at our table who was a guest of ours from the Middle East- and her dislike of him was palpable- slamming dishes on to the table- talking with her back turned to him- made me embarrassed as a Savannah native to know that people like this bigot still exists and are allowed to work in public places. Don't waste your money here- go to Rocks on the River where everything is really homemade and the service is a lot friendlier.

We really enjoyed this classic Riverstreet cafe. We had great margaritas and cold beers with fried green tomatoes appetizers. Then for entrees We chose shrimp & grits and the roast beef porboy which were both excellent. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive despite being busy. A great place to bring the dog as well if you like to eat al fresco. A new favorite. The beignets were delicious with warm prailines sauce for dessert. Prices were very fair. Deserves a four star from foodies

This place is terrific. You DO NOT need to go to New Orleans for top notch Beignets- as this places are amazing. Their praline sauce on the side- so worth a buck. Further, I had an omelet and the breakfast potatoes. The omelet was good, but obviously not difficult. However, the breakfast potatoes are not ordinary at all- and very good. They are creamy, and cheesy. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict which apparently they are known for and stated it too was really good. Overall- no complaints. It in the Riverfront District too, so good area to walk around in and explore.

Our last morning in Savannah we yelped and decided to try Huey's for breakfast. It was only a short walk from our hotel so why not. The river area is certainly pretty quiet on a Monday morning but that was ok by us. We were promptly seated and given menus---they seated us pretty much right in the sun so that wasn't awesome but nothing I'd get upset about. I was showing my hub that we could get a free beignet with our entree purchase from checking in on the trusty yelp app and he informed me that no we would be getting a full order...who was I to say no. Ordered our coffee and waters as well as our food, we got the beignets, he got eggs bene, I got the eggs sardou (creamed spinach, artichoke hearts, english muffin, poached eggs) and we both got the cheese grits as our side. Before I get into the food, our waiter was a young guy and pretty nice but we had a few weird interactions with him. When we order the beignets to split, he asked if we wanted separate checks as well, we said no..and he said well since you were splitting the beignets I just figured. Ok....then later he keeps trying to refill our coffees which is awesome but it throws off the whole balance of coffee to cream ratio and after a previous refill I was coffee'd out. So we said no thank you and he was like "I'm just trying to keep it warm for you" but the thing was it was a very defensive tone, same as the check splitting thing earlier. Kind of odd, maybe I'm reading too much into it but I could definitely see him as an arguer if he got a jerky customer. Anyway onto the food....beignets--meh pass. We should have just gotten the free one. I admit I love a sugar doughball just as much as the next guy but these were flat, heavy, and tough. Maybe I'm ruined for having them at Cafe DuMonde but these didn't compare....we still ate them tho #fatkidforever. Eggs came out shortly after, so the best way to describe my eggs- spinach artichoke dip with english muffins and eggs. Tasty yes, very heavy. I know there's a thin line between poached and undercooked, my egg whites were a little undercooked. I have a real issue with slimy eggs just from a gross out perspective---also my stomach wasn't exactly happy the rest of the day but that could have been anything really. The grits...idk maybe cuz I'm not a southern girl I just don't get grits, these were aight. They were definitely very salty which is better than bland--to make them cheese grits they plopped a pile of cold cheddar cheese on top that we mixed in. Not stellar for sure---I hate wasting food but I barely touched these. Hubs liked his food overall. So huey's was ok, breakfast is breakfast I don't expect to be blown away....it wasn't totally awesome but it wasn't terrible.

I cheated on my wife this morning and snuck over to Hueys - for the beignets. Actually she was sleeping in. 8:00 on a weekday morning and the place was not all that busy. I was tempted to try a full breakfast but went with a Caf au Lait and an order of beignets. I have had better coffee. The beignets were a nice treat but may not impress anyone from Big Easy. Service was prompt and the servers seemed nice enough. Could be that they may get cranky if the place is slammed and the tourists are more annoying than usual. You never know. But they were nice to me today.

Huey's is decent brunch/New Orleans food but I found it to be hit or miss on food quality. We took my mom here for a retirement brunch. We just got back from a New Orleans trip earlier this year, so I knew it'd be tough for it to live up to my expectations. We started out by ordering coffees and beignets (got some free beignets by checking in on yelp which was nice) The beignets were overcooked (I'm talking dark brown on the top and edges), but still pretty good. I guess if you pile that much powdered sugar on top of anything, it'll be good. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy. The shrimp were thickly fried, very fresh/local and good. (although on a po boy I think they could have gone a little lighter on the batter) However, the bread tasted like they had just defrosted a frozen loaf. Having just come from New Orleans where the rule is that bread quality is the most important part of a po boy, this was very disappointing. The bread wasn't fresh, wasn't hot, and wasn't even crusty. It was just a crappy loaf of bread. The sauce on the po boy was good, but it was all down in the crease of the sandwich, and the sandwich was cut in a way where I could barely close it to eat it. My wife had the pasta jambalaya which she was happy with - I also tried a few bites of it and liked it. And my dad had the shrimp and grits, which had a nice cajun flavor to them. What else? Well it's touristy and on the river, but has a nice patio and a good view. The staff were nice enough, even if a little slow and not too talkative. So all in all I wouldn't say it was a bad meal, but for a restaurant that touts itself as serving authentic New Orleans cuisine, it sure has shoddy versions of the most basic dishes.

This small place is one of the better restaurants on the river strip. We had catfish fingers, gumbo, jambalaya, seafood platter, and beignets. I was expecting the platter to be fresh but it was all friend, nonetheless it was delicious. Everything was great and our waiter Matt was awesome.

Had a so-so breakfast here. Server was sub par...just painful to talk to. Cheddar and sausage omelet was about par. Spicy potatoes were very good. Free Beignets that came with a yelp check in were very good. The wife had eggs Benedict and they were just ok. Great location on the river but I really wish I would have chose a different place.

This review is only for the bloody mary. My sister and I were walking on the riverwalk and stopped in for a bloody mary. The bartender was friendly and the bloody mary was delicious. An extra star for offering us a bloody mary to go. *I love Savannah*

Great location and amazing food! If you can get in, go! I called 15 mins ahead on a Sunday morning & was seated immediately. I read some of the reviews and many said the wait was forever, but called 15 mins ahead & you'll get in definitely! My boyfriend & I ordered: -Steak and Eggs w/ garlic Parmesan grits. -Egg Benedict w/ cheese grits. -The Famous Beignets -Fried Green Tomatoes - w/ sprite & a sweet tea The steak was cooked med-rare, but it was a little too rare. I should of requested med, but it was seasoned to perfection. The eggs was cooked sunny side up and they did a good job on that too. The garlic parm grits were definitely parmesany, but I didn't taste any garlic. I didn't mind it so much. The grits it self was cooked SOO good. Egg Ben was like any egg Ben. The cheese grits though was AMAZING. The beignets were yummy, but I couldn't eat more than 1. I don't have much of sweet tooth in the mornings, but for a dessert after dinner would be grand. THE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES were epic. Breaded nicely and cooked well. The sauce that accompanied the tomatoes was oh so good! Try with some Louisiana Hot sauce and you'll experience a mouth orgasm.. The drinks were good. I'm a sweet tea fanatic and theirs was pretty good in my book. The sprite was more carbonated than usual, but it's really good that way. The service is why Huey's deserved a 5 star. The food was yummy, but the service was exceptional! My boyfriend and I sat at the bar so we observed plenty of drinks being made. I saw a lot of bloody marry being made and was curious on how it tasted, because a lot of yelpers said the BM was bomb. I asked our waiter on how it tasted, bc I tasted a BM before & it was gross. Rather than telling me he gave me a sample! You guys it was so delicious! I'm sad I didn't get one Togo, but I'll for sure order one when I come back to savannah!

Fresh and delicious creole cuisine. Fried shrimp, gumbo, roast beef po boy were all amazing (the po boy was the best!!!). They also give fresh cornbread. Surprisingly good for a tourist area, will definitely go back. Leaving off one star because they forgot to bring out my house salad and didn't see anyone to tell until it was too late.

Huey's is a pretty SOLID spot. Our server has a potential of looking like Ryan Gossling after a few glasses of wine. Regardless, he was very attentive. I called ahead of time, since they dont do reservations, and we were sat right away for primetime dinner (8:30pm). The food was delish. The crawfish was tender from the estoufee. The shrimp and grits was super yum. I'll give them a pass on the beignets since they're not exactly cafe du monde. This was the southern hospitality i was looking for!

I wasn't expecting much because this place is located among the tourist traps of River Street, but I was so pleasantly surprised! The brunch was amazing. The crab cake eggs benedict and beignets were delicious. Great service, too.

Great experience at Huey's on the River! Awesome food, awesome service, fantastic view. We wanted to try both breakfast and lunch, so we split a crabcake benedict and their daily special, a fresh fried cod sandwich. Both were delicious. Also, to start, we had an order of fresh binnets with pecan syrup. Highly recommend trying those if you come!

We planned to have a nice dinner our last night. We did lots of research, found some nice places but fine dining and small kids don't work and the few the met the criteria were fully booked and gave the impression over the phone that they didn't take walk-ins. Currently living in New Orleans, Huey's on the River that specializes in Cajun cuisine spiked my curiosity and I figured the mostly positive reviews would hold true. They didn't take reservations so we showed up and were given a 30 minute wait. They are located by the river so we walked around to killed time. When we were finally called, we were squeezed into a four top (our group was five with the kids) which wasn't too much of an issue. What was an issue is that it took forever for our server to even take our drink order. In fact, the entire dining service was slow. It's wasn't just us either, I saw other table constantly looking around to try and get some attention. Our server just looked like she didn't care or was overwhelmed; everyone that worked there did. The restaurant was so cramped we had to hand off our own plates (I can't imagine what happen when the plates are super hot). The food didn't improve the experience. I ordered the Pasta Jambalaya. This was not that, this was spaghetti sauce with hot dog masked as andouille sausage. I didn't like it at all, I ate barely any and unfortunately didn't take home the rest. My mom had the Crab Cakes with red beans and rice. She said the red beans and rice were okay but a little too salty. The crab cakes were crap. They tasted super sour, and were flat as a pancakes fillers. Crab, where are you? The rest of my family had chicken wings and chicken tenders and had no complaints so I guess that is the way to go at a self proclaimed authentic New Orleans restaurant, but I wouldn't anyway because they prices aren't worth it.

We ate here at night and got a table at the window overlooking the river. We had the fried catfish and grits. The portions were huge and very good value. It's a really nice restaurant in a tourist area. We were really pleased with our experience here.

On vacation from Seattle, stayed at the Westin and took the ferry over the river (courtesy shuttle :) ) There was a line and the wait was about 45 minutes but it was SO worth the wait. Just maybe the best breakfast I've ever had. Servers were delightful... Well done, Huey's!!!

Everything is good. Everything. I want to eat here every day of my life. I had a 4 day business trip to Savannah, and I managed to eat here like 5 times. The staff recognized me by the end of my trip. I love all the things, but my favorite meal was the eggs sardou. And the beignets, oh, the beignets. Better than anywhere in nola, that's for sure.

Just loved this place. I'm not sure if all tables have a great view of the river but I loved that ours did. The place was CROWDED but we got there a bit early and were a step or two ahead of the breakfast crowd. The garlic and parmesan grits have made me a convert. The beignets are very good and an excellent place to start. The seafood omelette is terrific and so is the crab cake benedict. So good!

Ate here for breakfast based on Yelp reviews and close proximity to our hotel on River Street in Savannah. Arrived around 9:00 am am on a Wednesday and was seated immediately right next to the window to look out at the river. My girlfriend and I first ordered the beignets (3 in an order), which were delicious and covered in a perfect amount of powdered sugar. We ate two right away and saved the last for dessert! I ordered the Pain Perdue, which was nice thick bread flavored with cinnamon and sesame seed crust, with a side of walnut butter and syrup. My girlfriend ordered the crab cake Benedict...it was a huge portion and she absolutely loved it, especially the fried green tomatoes that come on it. Our server, Waynie, was super nice and professional. He seems very aware of our needs and was super friendly. We would definitely recommend Huey's on the River for a breakfast spot in Savannah!

This is Southern food done right. I'm so happy Heuy's is the first time I've had real southern food other than fried chicken. The portions were huge. You can order one entre and share it because my husband and I took half of our plate some. One thing that I ate and would not recommend is the French onion soup. It was so salty that it was completely inedible. I'm giving four stars because everything else was so delicious.

Hueys is everything I expected and more from a Cajun creole restaurant in the South. I felt like I was in Louisiana with the Cajun and Creole flavors that they created. I've been here for dinner and I've been here for breakfast/brunch. I have a weakness for Eggs Benedict, and those little fried delicious beignets. That was initially what drew me to the restaurant. The beignets are served with that heavenly praline sauce that everyone comments on. It's all true please try them! We got some for the whole table. Some of my friends had never had one or didn't know what it was. As a foodie I couldn't let them go on with life without trying these beignets. I got crabcakes eggs Benedict and the eggs were cooked perfectly and everything melted in your mouth. I also got a bloody Mary which was HUGE and delicious! Last year I was here for dinner so my memory isn't as sharp but if I recall, my boyfriend got the gumbo which was phenomenal and I got a tuna special which was sooo good and cooked perfectly. The service is very friendly as well I highly recommend them!!! The grits are tasty too!

If you want a little taste of New Orleans while in Savannah, this is the place. Everything we had was great. We had the crawfish Etoufee, jambalaya, beignets and even the coffee was good. Only problem was I ate too much, but can't blame them for that. Oh and it's on the river so convenient and with a nice view. Definitely recommend.

The only reason this place gets two stars is because it has outside seating in a good location- but the food was poor. I ordered a shrimp po-boy as this claimed to be a cajun restaurant. It was the sorriest looking po-boy I've ever seen. It had almost no shrimp, a single lettuce leaf, no creole sauce etc. i think they count the shrimp they put on it and since they were so tiny they barely covered the sandwich. A shrimp po-boy is uber simple, pile on the shrimp and everything else can be forgiven. I used to live in New Orleans so have ordered plenty of poboys, based on their inability to get a simple po-boy right, I wldn't recommend this place.

I Love Huey's! And not just for the beignets, which you must have with a Jack on the Rocks... I have been to Huey's many times, and never have I been disappointed. The food rocks, and the staff is awesome! I was there this past New Year's, and early on the day of, I went in for lunch, and gave the hostess my name for a table. My nickname (Tuna) is somewhat memorable, but still... I came in the next day for brunch, and she remembered my name! The bartenders remembered me, too. And I know the lavish tips I left had nothing to do with that! ;-) In this instance, I did not do any heavy drinking, and therefore did nothing memorable (at least not like that night in Acapulco in 1986, but we won't go there...) So it has to be the great staff and their attention to their customers. Go, drink, eat... and don't forget the beignets!

I really wish there was a way to give this place 3 1/2 stars however there's not so I stuck giving them 4. Have you ever gone to a restaurant & said to yourself " man I wish that was my server " well that's how I felt. I had a guy & was as slow as a turtle that just hatched from an egg . Slow to greet us , slow to ask us what we wanted to drink, slow to explain the items on the menu . The other servers were moving at warp speed , they even asked me did I need anything , while this guy whose job it is to take care of us is nowhere to be found. Not once did he refill our drinks even though they'd been empty for a while , until the very end of our meal . The food here is okay it's a Cajun cuisine so some the dishes can be spicy . The best thing on the menu by far are the beignets which are amazing . I've been here a few times & will continue to in the future only next time I'll ask for a different server .

Great place to come for brunch. You'll most likely find yourself on a wait but we called about a half hour out and put our name on the list. When we arrived, we waited about 3 minutes and sat right down. The wait at the time was over an hour. The beignets are a must! I had the pain perdue and it was delicious. I was a little disappointed that the syrup you get is Smucker's or something like that but it was good regardless. Husband had the eggs Benedict and thought it was good. We sat by the window and it was a fun place to people watch.

The cornbread, so good! I would eat a whole pan of it! We had the fried green tomatoes which were delish. I had the pan-seared scallops with Parmesan grits. They were quite good! Loved the river view and the people-watching as folks walked by.

Came here on a Sunday night it was kinda slow I had the crawfish étouffée and the gf had the bayou seafood platter we split both entrees , the crawfish étouffée was ok but I can say they had a generous amount of crawfish and the seafood platter was ok they can improve the batter is all I can say for 25 dollars... It was like captain d"s seafood or something .. The jambalaya pasta was a order Togo to try for later and that was ok to but not for 20 dollars .... The Bloody Mary was good and the beignets was just ok it can be cooked just a little bit more to be crispy with more powder sugar... I also added 4 beignets to the order Togo and wait !! Don't forget to check in for a free beignet!!!!!!!!! Everything costed me around 80 without tip...

Service was great, the restaurant is cute, and it is on the riverfront. Maybe it was just what we ordered but the food was greasy and not at all tasty like the New Orleans food we were craving! We waited over an hour for a table and were starving but the food was just really disappointing. We had the po boy and vegetarian muffuletta and the entire sandwich was just filled with olives! This is horrible when you don't like olives! For sides, we had the plain and cheese grits. The cheese grits were pretty salty. We had the beignets for dessert. They were huge and generously covered in powdered sugar. We weren't that impressed with the dinner. Might be a better place for brunch. Star breakdown: Service: 4 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Food: 2 stars Overall: 3 stars

Love the bloody marys. They are kind of spicy with a little twist and you can hopefully get served at the bar while waiting for a table. I can speak for the beignets, crawfish etouffee, the shrimp and grits and then chicken salad. All are yummy. Expect a wait on weekends.

Excellent food! A must try! We started off with the begneits. I'm not a lover of sweets but they were so good. Make sure you get the pecan praline sauce to go with it. For my entree I had the eggs sardou with parmesan garlic grits. So so good!

The location of this restaurant is great. We were lucky to have a table right by the windows. The service was fine, and the food was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I have a couple of problems with this place, but I'll start with the positives. The food was great - we had the crawfish etouffee and honestly, there must have been 5,000 crawfish - it was flavorful and more than generous for uhhhhh $17.95? We also love mufalettas so ordered that as well and it was equally delicious. The cornbread they provide was warm and crumbly. So, there's that. Soooooooooooooooooo. I have a big problem when I'm seated and don't see a server for at least 10 minutes. I appreciate the friendliness once you arrive, but that's just unacceptable. The additional 10 minutes it took for us to get our drinks was also unacceptable, as was the SIZE of the drinks. I had a martini that was seriously, MAYBE the size of a shot. Due to the wait in between seeing a server and actually receiving a drink, I only had a glass of wine after the martini, and it was also, MAYBE a 3.5oz pour. Poor form, Huey's. I need good service and solid drinks - otherwise, I have to look elsewhere.

Had an early flight into Savannah on a Sunday morning so we decided to get some brunch at Huey's. This place did not disappoint. There was a wait as expected but not too bad......25 min. We got a free beignet when we checked in with yelp. It really felt decadent sitting there eating that lovely morsel of fried dough covered in powdered sugar with a cafe au lait looking at the river and the ships going by. While the beignets were a real treat they aren't quite as good as the ones you get at that very famous cafe in NOLA. For my meal I had the eggs sardou, which is basically eggs Benedict with creamed spinach and artichoke hearts. Outstanding!!! I would order it again in a heartbeat. My husband had the pain Perdue, which is French toast with pecan butter. It was sweet and tasty! Hard to believe but we got a dessert too (comes free with a Savannah dining card). We had the key lime pie. It was large but skipable.

We popped in to town... hungry! We checked into our hotel then took a walk up River Street. We stumbled upon Huey's. Thank goodness! Hubby ordered red beans and rice. I wanted to save room for beignets, so I ordered a cup of gumbo and parmesan grits. EVERYTHING was fantastic. Then came the beignets. OMG. I was in heaven. I thought, WOW, if every restaurant in Savannah is THIS good, I'm gonna PIG OUT this weekend. Well... not every place was this good. So we went back again. I had a crab benedict with a side of cheese grits. Hubby had an omelet. Again, everything was delicious. I had no room in my tummy for the beignets. :-( I saw a couple split eggs benedict, grits, and beignets. Great idea! Ah.... next time...

Not sure what the big deal about this place is. I'm only giving it 2 stars for the location since it's right on river and their coffee which is pretty decent. As far as food, definitely not the best bfast in Savanah. The pancakes are served with smuckers syrup (I'm a huge fan of real maple syrup) and the toast with smuckers grape jelly (in those tiny packages which make it look like airplane food). You'd think a place with this high reviews would have something homemade. Also, the service is not good at all and the waiters looked and acted as if they hate being there. And exactly what makes their bignets world famous?? It's just fried dough with powdered sugar. I've had fried Jacks (basically same thing) in Belize and that was spectacular.

We have been to Savannah maybe half a dozen times now and have never tried Huey's on the River until this recent weekend trip. We pass by Huey's every time, but never had any desire to go in because... well... it's like... right on the touristy river street area. Instinct tells us to not go in... it's a tourist trap... it's ain't gonna be good and it's gonna cost you arm + leg for small fru fru dish. Well, my good friend talked us into going... actually she didn't really try to 'talk us' into it, she just said, "they have beignets!" eh... OK.... we'll be there! So we went on a late Friday night dinner and were seated pretty quickly. I had the shrimp and grits, and I have to admit, it wasn't the BEST I've had, but it's still pretty darn tasty. The beignets rocked though... eh, a bit over-sized, but yeah... yum!

We went here based on a recommendation from frends. Sat at the bar and had fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and gumbo. All were outstanding. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is small and cozy. I will go back on my next visit.

Went here for a late lunch a few weeks ago on the recommendation of my hotel bartender. Was told I had to try the shrimp and grits. It was good but not as "legendary" as the bartender made it out to be. My server was not terribly attentive but nice enough. Got the shrimp and grits, with fried green tomatoes to start. The FGTs were listed as an appetizer but the portion was ginormous, and easily could have qualified as an entree. Yummy enough though with great flavor. Shrimp and grits were just fine, not terribly impressive. For "shrimp" and grits there was hardly any shrimp in it! The flavor was fine, mildly spicy, but it was almost ALL grits. I ate inside and the view was great. Overall it was fine but if I were to go back I would try other dishes.

I was not impressed with this place. We went here for dinner on the recommendation of our hotel and while I was hoping for good seafood, what we got was a fried plate of seafood, which was deceiving given the description of the plate on the menu (the seafood platter did not say it was entirely fried). When we mentioned this to our server he just shrugged. Also, why can't they filter their tap water so that it doesn't taste like swamp water? The gumbo was good, but again, not worth the 40 minute wait we had to endure. I was so unimpressed with the dinner that I didn't even bother ordering their "world famous" beignets. I might consider coming here for brunch but for dinner it was a miss. So crowded and the food wasn't great.

The service was horrible. As we entered a guy exiting with garbage pushed his way out the entrance as we entered without any excuse me or anything, it was very rude. Then we sat down and people who came in after us got drinks and beignets before we even saw our waitress. We had to ask the host if we had one, who was not apologetic and did not offer to get us water and it was still another couple minutes before we saw her. When our waitress arrived, she kept walking away while taking our order, we had to ask if she needed to come back before we got her full attention, also was unapologetic for the bad service, the restaurant was not overly crowded to excuse the poor service. The eggs Benedict was good, no complaints. Our beignets were raw in the middle and had to be sent back. Would not recommend because the service from multiple people was awful, they need to improve their customer service and not rely on location over great food and service. Their host, waitress, and garbage man all had bad personalities to be in the service industry, not friendly or helpful. Go somewhere else as their are other options.

Among the best brunches in Savannah. Make sure to get a Bloody Mary (it comes loaded up!) and the Parmesean Garlic grits. So good! Make a reservation/call ahead if you have a big group or are going on Sunday.

Huey's on the River is a long-time Savannah favorite. The bf had been here years ago with his family, so we decided it was time to revisit. We planned to sit outdoors upstairs and look at the river, but it was much too cold. We were instead given a table near the window on the first floor overlooking River Street and the river beyond. The brunch menu has something for everyone. I went for the Crabcake Benedict with lots of crab and a perfect fried green tomato. Every bite was delicious. The Parmesan Garlic Grits were the way to go as far as grits...much better than the plain cheese choice. Save calories by getting the Hollandaise on the side, and spend them on the mouthwatering beignets. You get one free with a Yelp check-in! These rival many you may have had in New Orleans. Prices seemed in line with other tourist spots along the river. I don't know what the dinner menu has to offer, but for atmosphere plus good food right on the riverfront, we'd surely return to Huey's.

Amazing. Fabulous bloody Mary's made my morning after a challenging arrival in Savannah. Spot on flavor with substantial amount of vodka allowed me to relax and take in the beautiful river front experience. Our server, Mike, was certainly friendly even if he forgot my cream the first time I asked. The little French donuts were outstanding. Warm, not too sweet and covered in powdered sugar, I will treasure the way they melted in my mouth for eternity. My companion had crab Benedict with fried green tomatoes which she loved so much that sharing was not really an option. I went southern chicken style with my Benedict. The Grits side did not disappoint. Fabulous food with great service. Can't go wrong at Huey's as the hour wait shows this place is in demand by locals and tourists alike.

We were here for brunch last Sunday. There was almost a one hour wait here. We weren't sure we wanted to wait that long, but put down our names anyway, and boy were we glad we did! The brunch was amazing. I had initially planned to have their shrimp and grits since so many people have vouched for those, but then I decided to go with the fried oysters and shrimp combo. It was delicious! As was the spinach dip. We also got a table by the windows so we could take in the view of life by the river. Next time I will definitely try the shrimp and grits.

Had brunch @ Huey's 2 days ago. First off - we got our beignets for free because we checked-in (using the Yelp app). Nice touch Yelp :). Those beignets were definitely worth the visit. You must try them! So sweet & fluffy - we are definitely coming back for those. Boyfriend ordered French Toast, which was very good. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict --- with no hollandaise sauce (not a fan of hollandaise). The poached egg was cooked PERFECTLY, and so were the fried green tomatoes. The crab cake wasn't so bad either. (Not the best crab cake I've ever had - but it was good). The cheese grits was probably the best I've ever had. The grits were cooked perfectly, and the flavor was just right (I didn't have a need to add salt - although boyfriend did). 4 stars for the beignets and the cheese grits.

Sometimes you go to a restaurant and you have a great experience. Sometimes you go to a restaurant and have a lousy experience. Huey's On The River has delivered something brand new: an experience so truly awful that as each terrible element happens, you can't help but find it hilarious. I know. Sounds impossible, right? Stay with me. Me and my other half popped in here on a Tuesday night at about 9pm. The restaurant was quite busy and nobody in the window appeared to be gagging/throwing chairs/looking unhappy so we thought we'd give it a go. Our waitress was quite friendly, if a bit flighty and frazzled. She'd apparently had a bad table before us. Hey, I've worked in lots of restaurants. It happens. She suggested a few cocktails to start and we settled in to a pretty good Bloody Mary, which included a garnish of pickled okra. Clearly we were in good hands! Then we waited. And we waited. And there was some more waiting in-between the waiting. Finally our waitress came by and took our order. I went for the crab cake sandwich and OH went for a main of gumbo and some steamed oysters to start. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. It was alarmingly fast. My crabcake was dwarfed by a massive bun (which I gave up on immediately) but was loaded with crab. Sadly it was also charred to hell. Gumbo was declared "pretty good" by the OH, but hey -- where were those oysters? We asked about the oysters and were told they were coming. We ate our food, waiting for the arrival of the oysters. Still nothing. At this point, the chap at the reception desk closed the door and started turning off lights (just so there was no mistake that it was getting late). Meanwhile, tables around us remained uncleared and our waitress was nowhere to be seen. About 15 minutes after we'd finished, the waitress came by again and began to clear up our dishes. When she asked if we needed anything else, we let her know we were still waiting for those oysters. At this point, the oysters now became a quest. We'd waited over an hour for them, and by God we were going to have them. 10 minutes later... the oysters arrived. And we were deeply sad that they did. The oysters were covered in silt and gunk, and clearly hadn't even gone under a brief rinse. The added bonus was that they smelled when you opened them. I've eaten oysters all around the world, and never before had I seen anything like this. And I don't mean that in a good way. We waited another 15-20 minutes to return the oysters, ask for them to be removed from the bill and then get our bill. It got to the point where OH approached the bar to ask if we could just pay and leave. We finally got the bill, paid and fled the scene of this crime against restaurants. I gotta hand it to Huey's... they may be awful, but hey -- at least they're laughably so.

Went here for breakfast. Gotta get the beignets with the optional praline sauce. The beignets here stand up to any that I had in New Orleans! Hot, crispy, fluffy with a copious dusting of powdered sugar. Perfect. Also had the shrimp and grits which were finely done as well. Loved it so much I returned just a couple days later to have the beignets again. I loved the shrimp and grits the 1st time, but I had to try the eggs sardou and have a bloody mary the 2nd time around. I was not to be disappointed!

Dining alone, the waiter was cordial and friendly. He gave me space to enjoy the delicious shrimp and oyster po boy and red beans and rice. He brought me some sauce because he thought I would like it on the sandwich. He was correct. My bloody was delicious, as well. Thanks to yelp I also enjoyed a free beignet!

Wandered in as I was walking down River street. The seating area is lovely with a great view of the river, and the service was exceptional. The beignets were a bit on the heavier side than what I've had in NOLA, but it was still pretty good. I had the grilled shrimp salad which was refreshing. Lunch portions are plentiful!

  • Kara S.

My friend and I both ordered the almond chicken salad chicken ($9.95). When we were brought our order, it was a salad, with chicken on it. The one we ordered was supposed to come with bread, fruit, etc. Our waitress didn't come around too often and we noticed that it wasn't the right salad after a few bites in. She felt bad and said she would bring us two beignets to make up for it (which we appreciated) and then when we got the bill we were billed each $10.95....what the heck???Slow service, salad was good, but I don't want to pay for something that I didn't order, especially when it was more...

Before writing and dining for brunch I have to disclose that the wait is horrible and the hostess downplays the wait time every time we go. Turning to the food...and the service, its an outstanding breakfast spot. Plus, they fix mistakes very quickly. It was a fun trip and delicious.

We sat down and asked about the happy hour deals and she said half off draft beers. I asked what she had on draft and she pointed to the bar inside (we were sitting outside) and in broken English said "those ones". I should have walked out then, but we stayed and ordered sweet tea and 12 steamed oysters. She brought our tea and didn't come back for 35 minutes. I seriously should have taken a picture of the shells she brought over. Maybe six were edible. All the size of a dime. It was laughable. Plenty of seafood spots in savannah, but I had to apologize to my girlfriend for picking this one and wasting her time. She dumped me 5 minutes later. Thanks Huey's

We went to Huey's for brunch. They have pretty decent food, but it's touristy not authentic New Orleans style food. Even the Bigniets were just eh - very sweet and pretty yummy but not the same as the real thing. No one was super impressed with their dishes, but what do you expect from river street. I got the Creole pasta which was spicy and good. I tried everyone elses (catfish po-boy, shrimp & grits, etc.) and mine was the only one I liked. There are much better options in the area.

  • Adam S.

I must've went on an off night at this restaurant. My food took forever but the food was excellent. The prices were very good compared to all the other restaurants on river street. I like their gumbo and the fried shrimp was very lightly battered and tasted great. But since my food was late the waiter brought out a huge box of the New Orleans famous beignets which weren't my favorite but still good. All in all the restaurant was good but I give them 3 stars cuz the service was kinda bad.

And they heard the rallying cry from afar: 'For the love of all that is good and right in this world, get the beignets. GET THE BEIGNETS!' My old college roomies and I first tried Huey's last year at our summer girls' weekend vacay in Savannah, and had been haunted by so many dreams of such culinary delights since then that we had to repeat the experience at this year's event. It was a Thing that was Non-Negotiable and also Written in Stone to the weekend's activities. We got there fairly early for a Sunday, and were seated after about a 25 minute wait. The coffee was delicious, and the beignets, well - extraordinary. Hot, light, fluffy, pillowy pockets of delicious donutty goodness, even better than we'd remembered. Even now I'm wondering why I didn't just break down and order another plate (3 for $3.95) to have allllll to myself for an entree. The praline dipping sauce ($0.95) is a nice accompaniment, but not exactly *necessary*...but it is good for that extra little bit more decadence to push everything over the side of the cliff. C'mon. You've been good all week. It's Sunday brunchtime. You *deserve* it. Both roomies ordered the Shrimp and Grits (what I had last year) ($11.95) and were delivered massive bowls laden with pools of creamy, cheesy grits and topped with a good amount of shrimp-n-friends-sauce. All three of us spent a good portion of the meal trying to discern what ingredients made up the tastiness, so that we could effectively recreate it at home (we successfully identified parmesan, loads of chicken broth, rosemary and parsley, but I doubt we shall ever be able to plumb every depth of its toothsome treasure). My Crawfish Etouffee ($9.95) was nearly as good as their dishes, but I found it slightly lacking in salt and spice. A quick shake of salt and a few dashes of Louisiana hot sauce put it right easily. The portion (also delivered in a giant bowl) was generous and filling, and I was overall pleased - though I will admit that it is still the dreams and memories of those grits that haunt me now - not anything to do with my own order. Prices are *very* fair for the quantity and quality of food you get, especially coupled with such a nice ambiance. The location is lovely, there on River Street, with a beautiful view of the river and lots of light streaming in from the windows that surround you on nearly every side... you just have to be okay with being gawked at by walking passersby. It's all right; they're just drooling over your beignets.

Go for the gumbo! I can't remember much of what we've ordered on our stops in, with the exception of a mediocre seafood alfredo and okay fried green tomatoes, so I guess it's all pretty forgettable but for the gumbo. It's robust, spicy, and a giant portion. Huey's does make a mean bloody mary skewered with okra and pickled veggies. The service has been fine on our visits: fairly prompt and fairly friendly. Sit along the front windows and watch the crowds pass by and the barges sweep along the river. We'll head back in for a bowl of gumbo when the craving strikes, and we'll probably stick to just the gumbo.

Went their for brunch and the location was great, service was fine and the food was good but not spectacular. With the yelp check in we received a complimentary beignet, which my boyfriend and I shared. It was good but so sweet that the half that I had was enough. Our second appetizer were the fried green tomatoes with a remoulade which was very tasty. The fried green tomatoes had a pickle taste to them which was very delicious. I had the red beans and rice and a side of their garlic parmesan grits. The red beans and rice were fine. it was a very large portion and I took most of it home and had it for dinner. The grits, on the other hand, were so, so, good. If I were to go back I would just get a giant plate of the grits and call it a day. Cheesy, flavorful, delicious! My boyfriend had the crab cakes benedict and was not impressed. The poached eggs were hardboiled than poached. The first egg was a little running but the second one was not at all. Between that and the skimpy amount of hollandaisesauce his meal was a little dry. If you go, get the grits!

  • Michelle J.

Even if you don't order anything else, you have to try the beignets with praline sauce. It's worth stopping by to try them. In addition, the view of River Street is nice. The restaurant is charming, and I heard great things from others in my party about the crab cake benedict. This is a regular stop when I am in Savannah.

  • Liz M.

I love Huey's, but not all the time. Being more local, I really only go when it's not too crowded. The best time is early Sunday morning - they open at 8 and you can sit along the river (the restaurant opens to the cobblestone walk when the weather is nice) and have a great breakfast then beat the crowds and go explore the city at leisure. The food is very good - not always fabulous, but always good. The french toast is INSANE - seriously, you HAVE to try it. People swear by the beignets, but if I'm splurging I go for the french toast. And, lest you be scared off by the above options, there are a lot of healthy items on the menu as well - I had a fabulous veggie egg white omelette one time (but secretly regretted not getting the french toast). - The drawbacks for me are: the crowds, the packed restaurant (it can be tricky navigating if you're carrying bags or, oh man, a stroller), and the restroom is tiny, strange and down a weird little hall/stair thing. + On the plus side: great food, phenomenal location, good scenery and people watching. = On the whole, I recommend it. Check it out if you're in town - but if it's peak hours, be ready to wait.

Went on a quick trip with family to Savannah. My siblings all said that it's simply amazing. I was underwhelmed at best. Had the sausage po'boy -- it was just too messy to eat. I ended up picking off the sausage and even that was on the rubbery side. The beignets were wonderful, though. Service was slow. Besides the 45 minute wait (which we expected) there was a large table of folks next to us, and our waitress rarely stopped by our table. In fact, nobody did. My drink got refilled once. The restaurant is small and overcrowded with tables. I kept backing up into the table behind me. For all the hoop-lah my siblings gave over going for lunch, I just was not impressed. They may go every time they are in Savannah, but I think I could find better.

Food is fine if you're looking to dine on the river. Not much of a view from inside the restaurant though. If you've eaten in NOLA or Southern LA even you'll be disappointed. Get a drink to go--bloody mary and mimosa are good.

I go to Savannah a couple times a year and I absolutely have to eat brunch at this restaurant when I'm in the area! I love their Crabcakes Benedict and Eggs Sardou. Seriously busy. So be prepared to wait. The beignet's are pretty good, though it's not the same as the one's you'll find in NOLA. Overall the foods pretty good and the service is decent, however the wait times a little extreme for food that isn't utterly amazing.

We were craving beignets while visiting from Texas, so we went to Huey's on the River on a Friday night. We opted to sit at the bar instead of wait 20-30 minutes for a table. We ordered fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and beignets for dessert. Everything was served hot and very tasty. My hubby said the shrimp and grits were the best he has had. We chatted with another couple and overall a Great dining experience.

If you love New Orleans style food for breakfast, this is definitely the place to go. Cajun style breakfast items (etouffee, beignets, etc) Great view of the Savannah River to see huge cargo ships coming through. Quite the sight indeed! You will likely have a decent wait, but it's worth it. Enjoy yourself on River Street watching boats on river or with vendors making different items or playing instruments. Service is good given how busy they are.

Overall, a good place to get Louisiana style food. They had a long wait since they were on the riverwalk and were in the busy area. Beware, because it's in the touristy area, the prices were expensive, but it was worth it. My party ordered the fried green tomatoes. It wasn't too breaded and the tomatoes had a good, hard consistency. For an entree, I ordered the crawfish etouffee. It was a huge portion. It also came with a small salad. The sauce was delicious and there were lots of crawfish pieces. They let us bring in outside drinks, which was different because many other places don't let you do so. Also, we were able to get a free beignet by checking into yelp!

I grew up in the South and worked in plenty of Southern restaurants. I'd say that on the grand scale of things, the food here is a solid B, only because it's a bit heavy handed (think: deep fried, goopy sauces). But we all know that most folks aren't going for subtlety. This ain't no diet food! That said, I liked the munchies (shrimp, oysters) we got on Huey's happy hour. What really did it though was the 2 for 1 drinks and legendary street-side people-watching. Seriously, if they had 24 happy hours in a day, we'd have spent our entire Savannah holiday there.

If your in savannah and you are from Nola, This is as close to home as you can get. Po boys, abita, and gumbo in Georgia it's a no brainer . Oh and the shrimp and grits here are killer as well

Here is the food we all ate, and each item was DELICIOUS: I had the pain perdue with pecan butter (yum) My brother had the cajun omlette with parmasan garlic grits (the grits were SO good) My sister-in-law had the eggs benedict with creamed spinach and artichoke hearts (she loved it) My dad had red beans and rice and said they were so good My husband and crawfish etouffe and it was YUMMY we all shared the beignets, which were (doesn't it go without saying?) so delicious We shared the fried green tomatoes...I have had a lot of fried green tomatoes in this city, and I think they were the best I ever had. The tomatoes were buttery and almost melty. They were slammed but our wait wasn't that long and our server was extremely efficient. I highly recommend if you're looking for brunch downtown.

Had the oyster po boy sammich and of course, BEIGNETS!!! Oh gosh, the sandwich was good but the beignets were so so so delightfully yummy. Warm and covered in powdered sugar :) The restaurant is situated on the river in Savannah, pretty :)

This is a late review but my family and I (about 16 of us) came here in July and we had to be seated at two different tables; which is understandable, we are a pretty large party.. At the other table, they ordered the dish that should've had POACHED eggs, instead it came out as a boiled egg... no running yolk at all. The waitress was nice about it, she sent it back and they gave another one. Times 2 that issue because we had two people who ordered the same dish and both eggs came out that way. It came out fine the 2nd time though! I will say the shrimp and grits with Parmesan (add jalapeno) that I personally ordered came out to be quite delectable! Everyone in our party were content and some that never had Fried Green tomatoes were pleasantly pleased as well. I checked in via Yelp and got the free order of beignets. Being that I grew up in the south (MS), we all pretty much know how it should taste / what it should look like, right? Well, these came out to be flat, thick breaded things that looked like pancakes.. We were all looking fwd to this and yet we were all disappointed. Run back to other table with the disabled poached eggs, they received an order of comped beignets that came out fluffy and moist and they all loved it.. Giving 2 stars for the inconsistency to the kitchen but the staff were all very friendly (Southern Hospitality of course) ! Great view of the River as well; it's one of those places you would have to stop by if you're visiting ole Savannah and hope for a great chef that day!

Amazing!! Great service and fun location. Nice people watching if you get a table right near the street. The food was delicious. I got the shrimp and grits which was to die for! My friend got the shrimp & scallops pasta which was also great. We shared fried green tomatoes as an app which were good but our entrees were definitely more memorable. I will definitely be returning on my next visit.

Amazing dinner. Had the crawfish étouffée, shrimp and crab au gratin, fried green toms , steamed oysters. Everything was great. They also had a kids menu with the best chicken fingers :). Dinner was a little slow coming out but worth the wait. Service was very good too.

This was our first stop on a short stay in Savannah. The bloody Mary was good, the breakfast was OKAY, the beignet was amazing. I had asked our waitress to sub my bread for fruit and she totally didn't do it. I didn't ask for the change, because it wasn't that huge of a deal. But she didn't even realize it which made me notice it was a kind of assembly line of food in the kitchen. Kinda like every plate goes out looking the same. I wasn't THAT impressed but it wasn't bad either. The praline sauce is to die for. I was licking my spoon.

Breakfast was totally awesome here and they serve it until 3pm and that is hard to find in Savannah! I had the Eggs Benedict with cheesy grits and everything was delicious. Also, Mike was our waiter and he is AWESOME!

SLOOOOOOOWWWWW service. Food took forever on a night when it wasn't that busy and it was brought out cold when it did arrive. Even getting a waiter took forever when we first sat down. The place was cold and drafty. There's gotta be somewhere better to eat on the river.

Stopped into for dinner while on a day trip to Savannah. I had the Red Beans and Rice. Nice flavor and nice portion. I was with my kids and the kids meals were a nice portion at a good price. We didn't have to wait for a table but by the time we left at 7 there was a wait.

It is hard to mess up breakfast but they did it. Bland, common, lacking fresh ingredients. Go somewhere else. All five of us agree, nothing special.

Decent option for New Orleans-type food, if a bit touristy and on the overpriced side. It's a nice walk along the water though, and service was good. I had the fried oyster po'boy and beignets and both were pretty good (though no comparison with real NOLA places). I didn't really like the cole slaw that came with it though.

Went here for a Sunday brunch with my family. We all sat outside and all had something different. I had the seafood omlete. It was stuffed with crab, shrimp and scallops. The service was exceptional even on a busy Sunday for brunch. Great location right ont he waterfront near the music stage. You get a free concert while you enjoy a great meal.

Loved it. Savannah had a bunch of touristy restaurants on the river, but Huey's would be a great restaurant anywhere! Great Cajun food, with good solid service. I would come back

  • Christine S.

Food was ok. Some things like the Parmesan and garlic grits were yummy but others like my chicken sandwich were not which was dry and completely lacking any flavor. Service was ridiculously slow and it was not full at all. My husband received his salad after his meal came forcing him to eat them out of order so his meal would not get cold. It took about 20 mins to receive each time I ordered my simple drink of vodka and pineapple juice. The praline cheesecake was also a horrible letdown tasting more like coffee than praline.

I don't know. If you're gonna say you are serving Cajun food, I'm expecting spice and kick and some N.O style grub. That's just not the case here. The shrimp ettoufette was lacking in flavor and spice. What a colossal disappointment it was. The muffaletta was both cold and burnt (huh?). The seafood platter that the bf got was pretty good. It was shrimp, scallops, and fish all fried up. I ordered the red beans and rice as suggested in some of the reviews and that wasn't a good move. Not good and I didn't eat anymore after one bite. The service was very slow. Too slow. We were going to try the beignets, but our sever took so long to return to the table that I was ready to go. Geez. Anyway, this place was packed and I loved the atmosphere, but the food just was not on point.

    (2)
  • Steve B.

Near the river with a great view. I have not had the rest of the menu, but this was the worst muffaletta sandwich I have ever had, and I have had a lot of them from all over the country. The bread was soft, not fully toasted and sugary sweet luke a Hawaiian roll. The meat was bland, and the olive salad was as well. I filled the sandwich with Tobasco sauce to add some flavor. I was disappointed not only in the taste but also that the center of the sandwich was cold. Service was average for a busy week day evening.

Wow! Huey's is by FAR my most favorite place for brunch in Savannah.....or anywhere else for that matter. All of the Eggs Benedict selections are spot on perfection! Everytime I visit, I vow to try something new but can't seem to pull myself away from them! The Beignets are melt in your mouth delicious and the sweet potato fries cannot be beat. The staff is always friendly and attentive, not to mention quick. And you simply cannot get a better view anywhere else. Love, love, love Huey's. We can't wait to return!

I am the "coordinator" for our trips for everything... so when a member of our group requested a good place to eat on the river this is what I came up with. Based on the reviews I wasn't sure if I was making a great decision, but like usual, I did! The cornbread... super yummy and warm. Split the chef's special with my friend... filet in a mushroom/wine reduction with whipped potatoes and scallops in a Creole mustard (which I didn't think would be good, but I seriously had to keep myself from licking the plate). The waitress was a little put off by us at first because I think she thought we were drunk young adults as we had plastic cups. Once she realized we weren't she warmed right up to us and was fantastic. My husband loved the jambalaya. I had my first beignet... I was seriously LIFE CHANGING. The waitress recommended squeezing the lemon over it... so, so, so good. Worth the wait at dinner. The only "con" I will mention is that while I did enjoy the scallops they were definitely not the best I've ever had... They were good, don't get me wrong, but I thought they could be a hair better. The sauce put it over the edge though... so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Food was excellent. I had jambalaya. It was so good. Wife had scallops cooked just the way they are suppose to be. Bartender waited on us and was very professional. Would go back

Been to Hueys 3 times now. My daughter and I both ordered Shrimp and grits last night. We were shocked at how terrible it was compared to the other times. The grits were ok, but the shrimp seemed like they were pre cooked frozen shrimp that had been defrosted with warm water and then just thrown on top of the grits. There was no flavor, no seasonings at all. What a huge disappointment!!! I doubt we will ever go back.

The menu looked intriguing enough that my husband picked Huey's as our family dinner when we took a day trip to Savannah. Our service was great. He even put in my daughters meal before ours to keep her happy. I had the scallops with Parmesan grits and red beans and rice as a side. The scallops were delicious but salty. The grits were good, but salty. The red bean and rice were good...but salty. Seeing a theme here? Portions were huge and we enjoyed it for the most part. We'd probably try something else the next time in town.

Had a very pleasant and tasty meal at Huey's on the River. Our server was prompt and polite. The cornbread was fluffy and flavorful, the red beans and rice was filling and tasty and the beignets were great. Loved the warm praline sauce! We even enjoyed the coffee - and we are coffee snobs.

We arrived early this morning in Savannah, after having taken an overnight Amtrak from Connecticut. Our hotel room was not yet ready, so we trusted Yelp to guide us to a wonderful breakfast spot. We were not dissappointed with Hueys. My husband had the Ponchitrain Omelette and I had the Benedict Blackstone. Both were served with cheese grits, and both were delightful! The service was very good, with everyone being quite friendly and helpful. We were seated by the big windows at the front of the restuarant and were able to watch the early morning happenings of River Street. The skies opened up to a few rain showers and so were were encouraged just to wait out the sprinkles with another cup of hot coffee. I would definetly encourage visitors and locals alike to give this spot a try.

Wonderful service. We had the shrimp and grits and the crab cakes. Thought the shrimp and grits were the best of the two. Enjoyed the sweet cornbread while we waited for our dinner. The Binet was a nice ending. I think I would have liked a chocolate sauce on mine.

Street level with some outside seating. Inside is open with glass doors to the street. Lauren G was an excellent server. Had local wild shrimp fried, wife had a big bowl of soup. Finished it off with a Beignets and hot Peale sauce.

We were waiting in line @ 11 am for Lady & The Son's, and literally, the party just in front of us got the last reservation for lunch . . . @ 2:30 pm. So we decided to come to Huey's and boy were our taste buds treated to some wonderful flavors! We ordered fried green tomatoes, Jambalaya, their special for the day, Crab cake benedict, and we topped everything off at the end with their "World Famous Beignets." Fried Green Tomatoes - They were pretty good. Crispy enough on the outside, with goat cheese inside with the green tomatoes . . . pretty tasty, but we've had better . . . 3.5/5 Jambalaya - mmm . . . it was ok. Not really all that special - in fact I've probably had better . . . had a mixture of shrimp, chicken, sausage . . . but the flavors weren't as bold as I would have liked, and it didn't quite have as much creole kick as I was expecting . . . meh . . . 3/5 Crab cake benedict - Holy moly . . . this thing rocked our taste buds. The eggs were perfectly runny . . . running into the crevices of the crab cake as we broke into it with fork and knife . . . dripping all the way down to the english muffin . . . this was definitely the best _____ benedict that we've ever had! Absolutely amazing. Also, they came with these perfectly creamy cheese grits. Man, I wish they made this part of their everyday menu . . . 5/5 Beignets - "World famous?" Mmm . . . they were really good - really, and I don't think I'm ever going to say that something fried and sweet wasn't good . . . but really, they were very good. Light, fluffy, hot, with just enough powdered sugar covering them. They really were quite delicious . . . 4/5 Overall, I'd say that it's probably a pretty solid 4/5, taking into consideration their location off the water, great service, friendliness, promptness, and excellence of that crab cake bendict.

Went here on a whim after reading several reviews and it did not disappoint! The fact that they were able to accommodate my large family (10+) for lunch without RSVP and then had great food warrants 6 stars. Wife had the fried oysters and shrimp and she loved them. Sister had the shrimp and grits and practically licked the bowl. Mom devoured her crab cake sandwich. A nice ending to our meal was everyone getting Beignets after I had checked us in on Yelp!! Being on the river front with a view of the people and ships sailing in..this is not a place to skip over!!

I was only in Savannah for one night for work and wanted to go somewhere that was walking distance from my hotel (River Street Inn) and somewhere that said Savannah. After having read the various reviews, I headed in with my Yelp app ready to go with the various tips. I settled on the fried green tomatoes as my app, the crab cake sandwich, and side of red beans & rice. Let me just say that I nearly needed alone time with the fried green tomatoes. I wanted to order a second round! The red beans and rice were just fabulous, with a nice little kick. The crab cake sandwich... nice size to it... and yummy. I pretty much ate it without the bun. The bun just got in the way. But, the favorite parts of the meal would be the appetizer and the red beans & rice. I was tempted to go in the following morning for breakfast just to get those two menu items again! The service was great... up until I guess my server's shift was over and he left because I wasn't checked on for quite some time, but someone eventually came over and took care of me. I will definitely be back again. Fried green tomatoes, I miss you!

The food at Huey's was outstanding, but maybe a little overpriced. I'd definitely recommend the muffuletta sandwich and the spinach and artichoke dip. Our service however, was not superb. Our waiter forgot two of the items we ordered, and was very slow and inattentive. He also came back to take our order a second time because he forgot it. Overall, Huey's is a solid choice, but you could get better creole food in new orleans.

Amazing food and beautiful location on the waterfront. Server was very attentive even though the place was really busy. Everything was beautifully cooked, and my first ever beignet was a delight. Definitely worth driving to Savannah to eat there!

I loved the location it was a bit of a long worthful wait as the food was delish- the service could have been a tad better but again te food was very good. I personally was not impressed with the powered bread at all I do not get why everyone raves about that. I want to go again to rate consistency to is this place could possible be a regular brunch stop on one of my often trips to Savannah. I had the crab cake with egg Benedict (egg green tomato, crab cake) grits which was so creamy, french toast which was also done different but very good.

Love it! Husband is from New Orleans, moved to Georgia years ago so you can only imagine how he critics restaurants outside of NOLA who call themselves NOLA cooks. This was the 2nd time going & he said the muffaletta was right on the 1st time but not as great the 2nd. However, we agreed 1st time we went was for lunch so the bread was fresher than the 2nd time @ 9pm on a Saturday night. I enjoyed the shrimp poboy for a 2nd time & loved it just the same. We tried the oysters & they were huge, should have settled for a 1/2 dozen instead of 1 full dozen. The beignets are right on key as well.

Went there for a birthday dinner, it was not like I thought it will be. From the outside it look very interesting with the river view scenery but the food was not impressive for the price. We ordered the crawfish dish and the shrimp and grit; the shrimp and grit was just too rich in flavor and was not as good as they describe it. However, the crawfish on top on the rice was decent but just doesn't have that wow factor to it. We order fish strip appetizer, it came out with couple small pieces, was very disappointed in that. Overall the food doesn't met my standard but the view was great.

Quite tasty! Good full, hot breakfast served here. Lots of variation for omelette lovers, plus veggie choices. New Orleans style breakfast served. Service is friendly and good. A little bit pricier than most, but paying for view of river.

Went for breakfast. Packed. FOOD was GOOD. Reasonably PRICED. Gumbo was yummy delish. Kids couldn't get enough of the Beignet..doubly delish. Crabcake was dreamy good. Crab Eggs Benedict was very good. Just enough Hollandise sauce without it completely dousing the eggs like n some places. Service was ok-good. Nothing exceptional. Would have gotten 5 stars if we didn't get the worst table n the house....table by the door where the bitterly cold wind (37 degrees n lower with windchill factor) kept blowing in whenever someone came n, left or held open the door while they waited n the crowded atrium. We were freezing n ate with our parkas on. We asked the waitress to turn on the overhead heater but she said the pilot light kept being blown out. Very unpleasant dining atmosphere

Great service, delicious food. Our server recommended the shrimp and grits and it was great. Definitely for a cheese lover, as the grits is covered in it. I'm not a fan of grits, but it tastes delicious covered in cheese! Good selection of beer, and great view of River Street.

Husband, my [pregnant] self, and three year old were passing through Savannah on our way home. We rolled into town in the morning after an all-night drive and while waiting for our hotel room, decided to grab brunch. Huey's came to us out of desperation but turned out being a great turn of fate. I was low on fuel, to say the least, and our child was right there with me. We needed good food, quick. We knew Huey's was table-service dining and that there would be a wait, but went for it on the hope that the quality was what we were looking for. We were right! I ordered their version of French toast (after seeing another patron dining on the dish outside in the patio seating area) and split it with our toddler. Husband scarfed up eggs Benedict. We ordered their beignets to conclude our experience. The French toast was by far the best I can recall eating anywhere. The pecan butter on top was a nice touch. I cringed when I saw the plastic-encased, peel-off lid generic syrup come out with it, but the toast and butter managed to cover for that sin. Husband had never eaten eggs Benedict before but was in love with Huey's version. If all eggs Benedict are that tasty, he said he will certainly be a fan for life. Also, his Bloody Mary, served in a plastic cup for some reason, was tops too. He claimed it had a nice spice to it. Aside from the delectable brunch and beignets, we only had one complaint. Our server was extremely friendly and even interactive with our toddler, but never refilled a single water glass on our table. I only drink water, the same for our toddler, and we ended up pouring daddy's water glass into our glasses when we ran out. I had to finally ask our server for more water. Bonuses: -Host was more than kind and considerate. I was sitting in a shady spot outside, around the side of the building with our child and stroller and he came out to me to let me know our table was ready. (Which was much shorter than the 25 minute guesstimate he originally shared with us.) -They helped us with locating a safe, out of the way spot inside the restaurant to keep our folded stroller. -Friendly staff was entertaining to our three-year old. -Tables each have giant white paper covers that are removed after each guest. Our three year old went bonkers with her crayons on that paper! -View was great. -All the staff members wore smiles.

Well, where do I start...our first experience at Huey's was great. We had a middle aged waiter who was very hospitable and accomodating. We sat on the dining room side and it was such a pleasant experience. Well today it was completely different. We sat on the bar side and the initial interaction with a young waitress made me want to get up an leave. She didn't give her name, she didn't give eye contact and showed no personal interest in making sure our experience was good. She had an attitude the entire time, went into the corner to talk to another server/cook and then he came into the door way looking at us. I didn't think much of it until the same gentleman came to give us our appetizers without speaking, giving my guest and I the wrong appetizer with his dirty apron then stood in the archway watching us eat it...um NO THANK YOU. The manager came over and we talked and apologized but looked at me as if I was making things up. Okay, so I Called back and let her know that my overall experience was rated high but today's experience disappointed me. I let her know how highly I thought of the restaurant. She was very short and non-chalant. I will not be going back. I tried it as suggested and one bad apple just spoiled it. Never again.

We went here for Breakfast and it was extremely tasty. We started off with beignets, and they were good. Of course not authentic but still good just the same. Tried the homemade praline sauce with them, Too sweet for me but my fiancé liked it. My fiancé had the seafood omelette and he Thought it was a solid breakfast. I got the eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes, It was delicious! We both got the cheese grits and they were good as well. Overall we come back here it was a great place for a cajun type of breakfast!

This is my favorite brunch spot in Savannah (at least for now). It is right on River Street, so there are some water views and large cargo ships go by. I've had breakfast there, but what stands out is the crab cake sandwich that I totally loved. Huge and very tasty. It typically is crowded, so expect to wait during peak times. I wish I had more to say, just the memory of the sandwich sticks out (and the large number of people there). Also on that same trip, discovered a love for Douwe Egberts coffee, which is sold there and other surrounding restaurants. It is one of those coffees that tastes great black.

We went here with a group of eight while in town for a conference and had a great time and a great meal. It was a Tuesday night, so a bit quiet. We were able to get right in around 7:00 p.m. and sit in the porch area with a view of the river on a beautiful Savannha night. We could hear the live music upstairs, but it wasn't overpowering. Everyone in the group enjoyed the meal - from jumbalaya, po' boys, catfish and mufalettas the reviews were all great for the food. The largest disappointment was that we were all leaving most of of food behind, as the portions were giant. The dessert menu looked great, but we didn't try any! It was a quiet night at Huey's, and our waitress took great care of us, from appetizers, drink refills and then helping us with several checks within the group.

After a busy day taking tours around Savannah, my husband and I wanted to find a place where we could sit down with our 2 yr. old and have some semblance of a family dinner that did not involve a sandwich shop, pizza or other horrid fast food. This place turned out to be a great find! They had a good menu for kids, and I appreciated that you could switch the kids side of fries for fruit. My husband ordered a roast beef sandwich which was so large even he didn't finish it ( and that is really saying something!). I ordered the French onion soup and a salad. (This was way too much food! I should have looked more closely at the portion sizes.). But the soup was delicious! It came out looking like a beautiful cheesy mushroom. Secretly tucked underneath was a slice of French bread and a melt in your mouth onions in a rich beefy broth. Mmmm. Also: the cornbread is delicious! You don't even need the real butter they provide!

My only complaint is that I could not fit more into my stomach because it was so flippin good. I normally don't eat grits but their parmesan and cheddar grits were killer. Went back a second night on our three night stay. The muffaletta was amazing. Served on a bread (not typical French bread) that was freaking awesome.

So, let me just say the place was PACKED! We were able to find seating in the bar area, but that was after about a 15 minute wait. Not too bad, right?! I ordered the shrimp poboy and it was amazing! The boyfriend didn't venture out much and got the grilled chicken sandwich. The bartender was our server and he was on his ish!! Not only was single-handedly manning the bar , but he was also taking care of all the guests that were seated in the bar area. He was kinda bad a$$! Never had an empty glass, and that alone was worth the four stars considering it was hot as H E double hockey sticks outside. It had to be no less than 100 freakin' degrees! That coke...ahhh...that coke! Anywho...Oh wait, I almost forgot, the red beans and rice was BOMB! Mmm...so dang good! So all in all, this was a great place for an early dinner. We didn't make reservations, but I'd say if you can then you most definitely should because it's apparent we got lucky! Enjoy this great place, but most importantly enjoy Savannah! 'Til next time, my friends! :) By the way, I super regret not trying the beignets! Please learn from my mistake!

There's nothing like being greeted with a sincere smile and eye contact by a host - especially if it's your first time. And the host did just that - so it really put me at ease even more so after reading overall good reviews. She was also accomodating with giving the table near the windows from guests that had just left. We sat in the foyer as the table got reset and then quickly got sat. The server was friendly and began well, but had a few misses on the execution. They ran out of hard cider, so my husband didn't order anything else from the bar. (Should servers know anything that's 86'd?) His heart was set on hard cider. The server brought my requested drink after our food was delivered and mostly eaten. She quickly and sincerely apologized -and immediately came back with it. My husband really loved his Shrimp Caesar - the shrimp was juicy, plump and well-seasoned. The gumbo was the best I've ever had because it was so savory, good balance of smokey-spiciness, meat and sausage were perfectly tender, and good consistency of broth, not tomatoey nor packed with rice. Unfortunately a piece of plastic was in my gumbo because I noticed what I was chewing wasn't a piece of sausage. So that stopped me in my tracks. Any foreign object in a meal just blows the wind out of my sails. It was unfortunate I couldn't track my server down. When she did come back, she did apologize for the error, but then asked I if liked the gumbo; and if I still wanted to take the dish off my bill. (What would she do if she were in my shoes, if a server asked her that questioned?) I did appreciate that the manager who came by earlier to check on us in the beginning of the meal - came by the table to apologize and explained the reason how the piece of plastic could have gotten in it. I know it's not standard recipe to put plastic in food, so I know accidents happen. I'm more concerned about how people resolve the problems and take steps to recover a guest, including their initial approach. The manager mentioned it was taken off the bill and did a good recover. Overall, I would recommend with a yellow flag because the food was good, the manager was great, but the server could have done better.

The food was just OK, on the blander side, but the real kicker was our server. It was a hot ass summer night so, naturally, we wanted at least our water brought out w/the quickness. You can tell where this is going: drinks took forever to arrive. I became cranky and sweaty. Our food is brought out. Yes, Hi, Server, can we get some utensils and perhaps a napkin, or two, pls? He says, "Right Away" and we watch him go to the bar and do some other sh*t. We sit. And stare at our food. Finally, my significant other decides to take matter into his own hands and snags some utensils from another empty table. Thanks server.

Located at the bottom of the River Street Inn hotel is this fabulous restaurant. It has a French / New Orleans theme. Right above is Tubby's which is more casual and more price friendly, but as far as healthy and tasty choices, they are a world apart. The beignets and French toast are a must have. What an incredible taste. Made to order. The coffee I was as well very impressed with ( this coming from a Costarican coffee snub). Good selection of fish entrees. Great friendly staff.

Thank goodness our neighbors up in Chicago told us about Huey's... and their BEIGNETS! We, the HB and I, knew that we were going to be in Savannah for the day so the beignets were on the radar for sometime today. By the time we rolled into Savannah from Hilton Head/Sea Pines it was about lunch time; so we figured why not just have lunch at Huey's (I read some glowing reports about Huey's menu... beyond the beignets... on Yelp, of course!). Huey's on the River, is located... yup, right on the river, right along with many, many restaurants, bars, antique shops... and your tee shirt shops... But Huey's stands out amongst the others with its french doors, white tablecloths, and flowers upon those tables. Breakfast and lunch is served everyday until 3pm and then dinner after the fact. Service is kind and courteous... and is very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had many selections to choose from, and they all looked great (it was very hard to choose what we were going to have for lunch, except for the beignets of course!) So after much consideration, I had the Almond Chicken Salad (with fresh fruit and home made bread) and the HB had the special of the day, Cajun Shrimp Po'Boy with a side of fries. You can tell that both were made with love! Geez was it good! After polishing off our lunch we dove into a "bowl" of beignets... So here's the deal of the day, 3 beignets for $3.50 and then add an extra $.95 for a home made Praline Caramel Sauce on the side... OMG. Like for reals. These pillows of love are the real deal, covered in a mound of sifted powdered sugar, it looked like the first fallen snow of a Chicago winter. So if you are looking for a little Creole love in the Savannah "low-country", go to Huey's on the River. True Southern Hospitality.. whether it be with the service or upon your plate! And if you are just needing to fulfill your sweet tooth, forget going to sweet shop down the street and treat yourself to some of those "pillows of love"! PS. This place won't break the bank... A soda, an iced tea (free refills), 2 lunch entrees and the "pillows of love" = $29... not bad!

#1 Get the Beignets! Wow! FANTASTIC. You won't need to add any sugar to your coffee if you enjoy them together. We were seated upon arrival on a Sunday morning. Nice place, and we got a seat near the window so we could look out on the river front. My boyfriend enjoyed the creole omelette (full of shrimp and spices!) & I ordered the eggs blackstone (eggs benedict w grilled tomatoes). I stayed a Yankee and ordered the potato side instead of grits-- and they were amazing (maybe a little cheese in it?). Service; not attentive.. my coffee was cold several times, and it took 10+ mins to get cream. Our waiter seemed aloof, and I was thankful for the other waiters that would jump in now and then to make sure we had water, etc.

The food was well described on the menu but very poorly made. As much as i disliked the food it could have been saved with service and atmosphere. But as you may guess the service was horrible at this place. they were not even busy and it took forever to get our drinks, order, get our food and, refiles. The overall experienced was terrible and at the end of the horrible experience the overpriced bill was given to us which topped off the worst experience of Savannah GA.

  • Maria J.

If it wasn't for the beignets, and if we hadn't been here many times before, we would not come back. Food was as good as always but the service was horrible. It took forever to get approached. Our drinks came out just a split second before our food. We didn't get our beignets until we reminded our waiter when he brought our check. From observing the rest of the restaurant I believe the issue was waiter specific. We will try again tomorrow and hope for a better server.

Went for dinner on vacation around 9pm. The cornbread is crumbly but sweet, which I love. The red beans and rice is good, needed a little salt and hot sauce. My dad got the gumbo which he said was banging, and my mom loved her roast beef poboy. I tried it and I concur, melt in your mouth tasty beef. Excellent. The fried okra was good, and my dad said the fried catfish was excellent. If you're on River St., this is a safe bet for a good meal.

Had a wonderful dinner at Huey's. Started a little slow with a disappearing waiter but Bradley saved the day. He took our orders and was so attentive during the meal. The blackened Mahi with crab and a garlic white wine sauce was divine as were the fried green tomatoes. Four stars because of the initial wait time to place our orders. Again, Bradley was fantastic!

To start, our waitor Bradley was curt. Our group of 12 did walk in at 9:30, but we didn't know they closed at 10. Throughout the night he was unpleasant. He immediately told us he would not be separating our checks. A guess who joined us a little late got wind of this and told the manager how rude our waitor was. Brad came back and said our bills would be separated. We all ordered drinks, with such a large group, I knew it would take a while. And it did. I ended up getting mine well after everyone else. I ordered one of the specials for the night, the watermelon margarita. Brad advised me against it and he was right. It was horrible. Sugary syrup that was garnished with a lemon, lime, and cherry in a goblet glass. I've never seen a margarita presented this way and no one ever should. It was kind of late and we had all just gotten off of the boat ride right on the river which had absolutely horrific food so we ordered light. I had the buffalo wings and a side of okra. The okra was pretty good, the wings were okay...I've had better. When I checked-in a deal came up for a free bignet. I showed it to our waitor before I ordered it and he aknowledged it. When I read it closer after I had my food, it was free with an entree. I dare not even ask our waitor about it again. So, we left without trying one of their world famous bignets. Probably won't ever get one. Not likely I'll venture back when in town.

Ate here today for the first time, big party celebrating my brothers wedding. Accommodated us quite well. Service was great, our server Patrice was the best! Food was fantastic and great atmosphere. With 10 people, we got an excellent sampling of the menu: beignets, creole omelette, seafood omelette, shrimp and grits, jambalaya, eggs Benedict, sweet tea and coffee. Definitely recommend.

Wack wack wack!! Ordered the shrimp Creole very disappointing. It was pretty much tomatoe sauce w/ shrimp no seasoning very watery Never again!!

Came here for brunch on a trip down to Savannah! I got the shrimp and grits. It was pretty tasty, but I have no other experience to compare since this is my first time trying grits. I also has the french toast....and literally this is the BEST french toast I have ever tasted. It was the right consistency with the right amount of sweetness. MUST get french toast if anyone decides to come here. The fried green tomatoes were good, but again no experience before hand to compare.

Huey's location right on the Savannah river was nice! It's a casual restaurant with a laid back and cool vibe. We had the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer. It was pretty much what I expected, yummy and gooey deliciousness. For our entrees, I ordered the crab cake sandwich and my fiance ordered the shrimp and crab au gratin. My sandwich was good...the crab cake was made with lump crab meat and not a lot of filler, which was awesome! The shrimp and crab au gratin was cheesy and rich, so if you like that combination, you can't go wrong! Overall, I'd definitely visit here again while in the beautiful city of Savannah!

DONT. Just don't. Wait the extra 20 minute wait for B Matthews or somewhere else. Rude service. Terrible knockoff Cajun food. Really touristy. I got the special and they ran out of one of the component's then charged me extra than what they had originally told me it'd be. And to top it off. I heard to the greeter mocking me for having said to have a great day. She could have been a lot quieter and maybe waited for the door to close. I'm not a difficult diner. I didn't address any of it while I was there. But I hope this review keeps someone from being disappointed and embarrassed while trying to enjoy their vacation.

My family planned a birthday weekend in Savannah and I spent a lot of time planning the schedule. One of my top priorities was to select great restaurants. Huey's was a great choice for breakfast. The beignets melted in your mouth and the crabcake benedict was amazingly prepared. The flavors were a perfect mix. My wife had the French toast. The flavor of the toast was different from traditional versions (sesame seed on the bread), but it was delicious. My son is a picky eater and it was hard to find something for his tastes. His main request was for pulp-free orange juice. Unfortunately they didnt have a way to accommodate the request. Otherwise, this meal was the perfect start to our weekend.

BEST CORNBREAD OF MY LIFE..... Love the gumbo and French onion soup. Fried tomatoes are great. Crawfish etoufee is alright...a bit bland. Add salt and pepper. YUMMY BEIGNETS. Service slow but nice.

Great breakfast. Beignets almost as good as Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans. The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict looked really good but my wife never offered up a taste. She inhaled them. My muffuletta was outstanding. Go here if you are in Savannah.

This place is truly a gem in Savannah. its by the River which is a tourist spot but probably the best spot in there. We made reservations on the way there and when we arrived we were seated immediately. the service was great and the atmosphere is good. a lot of tourist college kids. We went for breakfast and i had the crab cake egg Benedict with fried green tomatoes. OMGGGG to die for. i truly loved every bite of that meal. the eggs were perfect, the crab cake was delicious full of flavor. everyone else really enjoyed their meals too. Don't forget to check in to Yelp, you get a free order of beignes. which were so good. they came out hot and delicious. of all the places we ate in Savannah Huey's was the most memorable. best part was the bill. it was almost the most economical bill we paid in Savannah. overall excellent southern food, great friendly service and even better prices. YOU HAVE TO GO TO HUEYS!! go now drive to savanna and go! LOL

It's the day after Christmas and this place sucks today. Not sure if it's because of the day or what. Service is terrible and extremely slow. Several other tables were served before we received our drinks. The food wasn't even that good either. Cold french fries and they forgot to bring us the beignets

Went during the St. Patricks festival and had to wait an hour and half to be seated, which was understandable with the huge crowds. Starter house salad was ok, cornbread even better. I felt like having steak, couldn't decide to get the Filet Mignon or Low Country Surf & Turf. Went with the servers suggestion of Surf & Turf. The fried shrimps were too salty and the steak was good, not great just good but too small! The plate was over $30 and I just don't think the serving size was big enough for that price. Service could have been better, waited 5 mins for him to bring the limes I requested just to get 2 little slices of juiceless limes.

A group of co-workers and I stopped for lunch and it was pretty darn good. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was awesome with just the right amount of kick. The six of us were all happy with our meals. An oyster po' boy and the crawfish etoufee were also big winners in presentation and taste. I'd go back to this place again and may do so for breakfast tomorrow.

This past Friday evening, my group of four friends decided to have dinner at Huey's. It was busy as one would expect for a Friday evening so we ended up sitting at a table in the bar area which made for a cramped dining experience as the bar was only a few feet away from our table. As an appetizer, we had a shrimp bruschetta with pesto which ended up being very good. One lady in our party had the shrimp and grits, which she said out of the four different versions she tried over our stay- this was her favorite. I had the jambalaya pasta which had really good flavor and was a very generous portion. One lady in our party had the pan seared scallops which she said were overcooked, she also got the red beans as a side and said they were bland. The last member of our party ordered the crab cakes and they came out cold. The service was a bit slow, we ordered and then there was a long lag so that once the appetizer came out our salads and meals came immediately after.

My first time coming to Huey's. We went for brunch. I had the pain perdu. It came out room temperature at first (-2 stars), however they corrected the order and brought the second out piping hot and it was delicious (+1). Overall, my meal was good and I would come back.

Best shrimp and grits on the riverfront!! Drinks were served well and the service was amazing! Our bartender/waiter, named Lance, was so personable and attentive. He gave us great recommendations. This historic charm, elegant restaurant is definitely top notch for the riverfront. Will be back for sure!!

We really enjoy this place. All the food was very good. I had to take one star off for the wait. We called ahead because we had ten people. Upon arrival we still had to wait an hour. From the apps and corn bread to our entree everything tasted amazing. My fav was the fried oyster and catfish Apps. My jambalaya was not as spicy as I would have liked. We ended with a great note beignets. All in all it was a wonderful night.

Very good beignet. Fluffy and soft just the way I like it. I had the crab cake eggs Benedict and the seafood omellett with my cousin. The eggs Benedict would've been better if the egg wasn't cooked as long but the crab cake and fried green tomatoes that went with it made the meal better. The seafood omellett could've been better. I thought it was a bit bland, but altogether a great experience.

Maybe the breakfasts are ok, but dinner is just very mediocre. I knew it was risky to eat on the most touristy street in town, but we were showing my daughter the area and here we were. We had previously eaten at several great places "off the river". The cocktails were ok, but not great. Pretty standard issue margarita. Service was odd "would you like your water glass refilled?". Who asks that? just refill the damn glass. The waiter was very nice. I had the shrimp and grits. I will say that the grits parts was decent. The shrimp were micro sized shrimp like you get out of the freezer section. If you want real fresh shrimp drive out to Coco's on Tybee island. My wife had Catfish. Her response, well you can't really ruin fried fish. My daughter had some crab and shrimp augratin in a terrine. It was inedible, really. Smelled like the floor of a fish market. Just gross. The side salads were totally boring. A few pieces of iceberg lettuce with bottled dressing poured in a plastic cup. There must be better choices, I'd pass on this place.

    (2)
  • Steven B.

Gumbo was awesome. Wife had jambalaya pasta which she felt was average. Fried seafood platter was nothing special. Beignets were chewy in the middle, not even close to what you get at the Café De Mond

First I have to start with the good. The shrimp and grits, which unfortunately was ordered by someone else in my party and not me (hence I could only eat a little and not all of it) was fabulously delicious! I mean really!! The grits themselves were the perfect consistency, full of big juicy shrimp, lots of flavor, and a good sized portion. They were also serving some sort of salmon or crab cake concoction as a special appetizer. Wholly jeepers, hella good!! We also had crawfish etoufee and red bean and rice. They were just okay. Not all that spectacular. The bad - our server sucked! She would "go missing" for extended periods of time, forget that we ordered stuff (i.e., water, coffee), and just seemed overwhelmed the entire time. The hostesses weren't really friendly, not mean but just not friendly (if that makes sense). We felt like a number, not people. The tables are all really really close together. It's was uncomfortable. I was really looking forwarding to eating here during our trip to Savannah. I'm glad I did. If I had to do it again, I probably would still go but maybe for like an early early dinner instead.

After much reviews from colleagues and friends - we finally made the journey! Impressive! I have loved in LA and this is authentic and oh so delicious! From the start / amazing views of the river / warm corn bread / and you must try the crawfish étouffée !!! Gotta top it off w the beignets!!! Great times!

Location is perfect! Food is great! Server was good. The only reason not 5 star is the initial impression. The hostess was not very welcoming. Took a day trip to Savannah when we were staying in Southern South Carolina. After walking the river and checking out the open air markets and shops we made a pit stop at Huey's. I had the Crawfish Étouffée and it was delicious! The fried green tomatoes were just ok. It was a bit pricey and the service was not the best. To their credit though, they were slammed when we were there.

Good brunch. Worth the 25 to 30 min wait. Service was amazing even as busy as they were. View is nice. Great atmosphere. Outdoor seats available too. Good food made with love. Oh, and you have to get your free beignets with check in delish!

We had breakfast here and it was fabulous! Everything was piping hot, fresh and came quickly. The French toast is wonderful you must try it. I had an omelet and it was one of the best I've ever had. They sautéed the vegetables before they folded them into the omelet and the potatoes that were served with them were heavenly!! Give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed!

This time the service was EXCELLENT! Our server did a great job setting us up with an AndyGator beer, then TWO free beigniettes from yelp.com check-in! We enjoyed seafood omelete for me and turkey sandwich for my wife. Excellent view of the Savannah River from the window seat too!

My wife and I were returning from a trip to Disney and stayed in Savannah for the night. Before completing the remainder of our trip, we were determined to have lunch in Savannah. A quick search on Google maps (we were staying at the Westin Savannah Harbor) turned up Huey's, which was just a quick trip on the ferry away. The exterior of the restaurant is very nondescript, so keep an eye out or else you'll miss it. The interior is very cozy. We were seated right away, but it took a few minutes for someone to come and take our order. That gave us time to thoroughly peruse the menu. After some thought, I decided on the crawfish étouffée, while my wife went with the shrimp po-boy with red beans and rice. The crawfish étouffée was absolutely delicious -- the roux was flavorful and hearty, and the dish had an ample amount of crawfish. Portion size was more than plentiful for lunch. And while my my wife enjoyed the po-boy, she raved repeatedly over the red beans and rice. After our meal, we decided to split an order of beignets. While they weren't quite as good as the ones from Cafe Du Monde, they were still quite tasty. And the praline sauce was divine!! We really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to anyone!

Good food for sure. I love their sausage here, and the house ranch is tasty and original. We used the yelp offer for a free beignet and loved those too! Despite having got one entree they gave us two (my mom and I shared- plenty to do so). Good place to stop if you like New Orleans grub.

I preface this by saying I was starving and it was 2:45pm, so my review may be slightly skewed due to hunger. With that being said, all the food I tried was delicious! Checked in and got the free Beignet. It was delicious! So sweet I could only eat part of one. Good thing I was sharing with 2 others! We ordered the shrimp po boy, crawfish étouffée, and sausage gumbo. All were delicious! My favorite was the crawfish étouffée. Lots of crawfish included in the dish. Just the way I like it. The po boy was excellent as well. Lightly battered shrimp tastes great and not too much like batter in the sandwich. Regular french fries were tasty as well. Gumbo was a-ok. For dessert we had the key lime pie. I enjoyed it. My mom thought it tasted too much like cheesecake. Quite filling and good portion. The entrées had great portions for the price as well. Go for brunch. Very pleasantly surprised by this place. Good bang for your buck in such a touristy area, plus nice views!

I had my choice of 200 restaurants in Savannah, but was guided to Huey's. Thank goodness. The best part was my server/bartender Amy. So nice. I'll start off from the beginning with the wait.... It was Saturday and there were six of us so we expected a wait. They told us 20-30 minutes and we waited outside over an hour while they were seating 2 and 4 tops that arrived well after us. Instead of pushing two tables together which they could easily do, they waited until a table big enough came available. Well we finally got seated, took roughly 10 minutes for a server to even come by to take our drink order. Now to the food... Ordered and the kids got their food which was great since it kept them busy but we waited at least 15-20 minutes for the adults to get their food. My wife and I ordered the Chicken Strip diner and Pesto pasta, both were ok and nothing great. We've had much better at many different restaurants. The server was nice but everything was beyond slow. I've been a server at two different restaurants so I know what goes into a restaurant. I honestly would never return to Huey's. When everyone says that maybe ordering Pizza would've been better than you know it was a bad experience.

The most awful experience at a restaraunt ever. Our server got snappy and rude with me. It took her 21 minutes to get us 3 beers. When I asked what the sides were she huffed at me. I finally complained to the manager who was very apologetic, but due to the rude server, I wont be back. You go out to eat to relax and enjoy time with your friends, unfortunately some people dont like their work and take it out on others. Sorry to say but I dont recommend this place because of the service. The food was meh.... Take your business elsewhere:)

We had a great time! They're so friendly to our children! We had a server name Mike and he was friendly and helpful and made good recommendations. Our first time in Savannah and had a great start with the delicious breakfast.

Waited here on a freezing night. The wait was long, and the waiting room is fairly tight with only enough space for 2 people to sit. Others must stand or wait outside. It's a nice location on the river, but on this night it was not worth waiting outdoors. The menu was a little misleading. The seafood platter listed the ingredients: seafood A, seafood B, seafood C, and fried fish. So it would lead you to believe only the fish was fried. But when we got the dish, everything on the platter was fried. The gumbo was just on par with others I've had. However, it did not come with nearly enough seafood or sausage. In the end, I was left with just a pile of rice. Overall, I was left unimpressed. My wife was going to get the beignets, but we figured we had enough surprises for one night.

Huey's is hands down my favorite place to dine. With our three kids, friends or just a quiet date night with my husband. Over the years (we have been dining at Huey's for 20 plus years and Chris used to work there when he was in college), we have had most of the menu. But our favorites are usually our go to's. I will Only eat Shrimp & Grits here! They are simply Devine! Wonderfully balanced and so comforting. The shrimp are always cooked perfectly and pop when you bite into them. The grits are amazing! I wish I knew how they cooked and seasoned them! My husband has ordered the Oystr PoBoy and I have had a bite (or 2 or 3) of it and it is also delicious! The oysters are coated, seasoned and fried to crunchy moist perfection! The Chicken Artichoke soup...I honestly have no words for this creamy cup of warm yumminess! I tried it in a whim after our servers reaction when I asked him if it was good. He didn't casually say "yes". His eyes got real big, he nodded his head energetically and said "Oh! Yes! It's amazing!" And he was 110% correct! Brunch is always such a pleasure. It is usually very busy, but if you go knowing that, the wait is ok and I always enjoy watching the staff work together and seeing everyone's dishes come out! My son ordered the Crab Cake Benedict. He devoured it! The eggs were cooked just right and the crab cakes were delicately cooked until golden brown. They were light and delicious. Then nestled under that, was a fried green tomato! Oh my yum!! I don't think he left one crumb or drop of Hollandaise sauce! Our two youngest ordered the Pain Perdue (French toast) with Pecan Butter. It too was so satisfying. The Pecan Butter really made it special. This is the restaurant that I Always look forward to going back to and it Never disappoints! Love love Huey's!

I am sorry; but this place is highly overrated. Myself and my girl tried to eat here on Sunday (6/1/2014), and the service was HORRIBLE. I had to ask for a server, and after 15 minutes he finally arrived. He was not really responsive to us, and the place was very busy and chaotic, it seemed it had no organization. The food was medicore at best. The shrimp and grits were the best of our meal. I reccomend that the managers figure out a strategy on how to handle the traffic they have.

Wandered along the nice river front saw a New Orleans style restaurant and thought we had struck gold. Unfortunately it was not the case. Service could not have been any slower or ruder and not just our waitress, we observed this with the entire staff. Clearly service and repeat business was not a priority. Ordered a staple muffaletta. Greasy barely anything on it . Mostly bread. Good Bloody Mary was it's only redeeming quality.

Definitely pricey! It was overpriced for small portions. We liked the fried green tomato but didn't like the chief or grilled salad. The pasta jambalaya was swamped in the sauce.

The food was decent.. They have a TERRIBLE mosquito problem. The bugs were everywhere and I got so many bug bites within an hour of being in this restaurant. They landed in my food and ruined most of my meal.

This New Orleans-inspired spot has something for everyone. It's a large venue and this can accommodate large groups seemingly with ease. There are a few expertly placed televisions but the grandiose windows looking out to River Street are the real draw. As a vegetarian (no fish either), I had a bit of a hard time finding choices on the menu, but I would say that is true throughout Savannah. Meat and seafood eating compadres will love the plethora of eateries and their corresponding menus throughout this Hospitality City of the South, but true vegetarians will be left to ordering off the appetizer, sides, and salads menu. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely excellent, and the sauce on top of them was part of what made them so good. My sangria was good, but nothing to write home about. Service was satisfactory, the staff seemed nice, friendly, and cooperative. Enjoy Huey's on the River!

My wife and I went there last week on our honeymoon. First, the server we had was not very good. She made everything feel rushed. While we were talking to her/asking questions about the menu, she was looking around and gave the impression that she just wanted us to finish talking so she could move on to the next table. Since it was the last night on our honeymoon, I went with the shrimp and filet (surf and turf) as a treat to myself. The shrimp was pretty good, but it's fairly difficult to screw up shrimp. The filet, on the other hand, was the worst filet I've ever had. It was cooked medium (how I liked it), but there was literally zero flavor to it. No seasonings or anything. This next part is difficult to explain, but when you bite into a filet and you taste the juices, it's supposed to taste like a steak... this tasted watery. I have no idea why, and I've never had that before, but for the money we spent there, we could have gone to a generic lower-end steakhouse and gotten a sirloin that would've been much better and been 1/3 of the cost.

Went to Savannah than key west and of the 2 places this place was one of my favorites! Started off with beignets.... They were not like New Orleans at all, but they were still delicious. My all time favorite meal that I will be dreaming about was the crab cake eggs Benedict with the fried green tomatoes. Omg- winner winner totally worth the wait to be seated. Hubby and I also got a Bloody Mary to-go and walk around river street, it was very yummy!! Loved this place!

Oh Huey's, you are a beacon of goodness. You are wonderful in every way, except, perhaps, in your choice of bartenders on a Sunday afternoon. This was my second time at Huey's for brunch. The first was years ago and I wasn't on yelp then and don't remember what I got but it left an impression. This time, my girlfriend and I showed up a little after noon on Sunday. They were slammed. 60+ minute wait. They are always busy, but that it was the end of a major weekend (Navy Ball and Rock n Roll Marathon), made it even busier. As was the case for most of the weekend, we ended up hovering around the "first come-first serve" area - at Huey's, this is the bar - and grabbed seats pretty quickly. The one knock I am giving Huey's, and the food is so good that even this didn't ruin my review, is that the bartender was horrible. He was looking down or off into space the whole time. Someone new sat down at the bar (not just us, but others, too) and it took him 5+ minutes to even recognize and acknowledge they were there. He was never paying attention to his guests. Drinks needed refills? Had to flag him down or stare at him for minutes till he looked. Needed to order something else? Ditto. Needed condiments? Ditto. He was horrible. That said, the food is that good that Huey's still gets 5 stars. I got a regular eggs benedict, which is not something I normally get, but I wanted something other than an omelet. It was perfect. Eggs cooked to perfection, delicious Canadian bacon, and just the right amount of sauce, which was also wonderful. Not drowning the food, but just a compliment to the food. From there we cashed in the yelp check-in deal and got 2 beignets plus another order of 3. Oh my god, fried dough and powder sugary wonderful wonderfulness. I could come here just for the beignets, but then I'd be fat (okay, fatter). Still, no trip to Huey's is complete without an order of beignets. Get them, eat them, love them. So, Huey's, a masterful job. But seriously, get rid of that bartender. If he wants to people watch or daydream and not pay attention to the guests, then let him stand back at the dishwasher or something.

I attempted to eat here with a party of six on Sunday, May 5 for my friend's 30th birthday. Neither hostess would seat the 4 of us that arrived first, informing us that everyone must be present. We offered to place our orders and they still declined. While they did put 2 tables together for us, they would not let us sit at it, prompting the waitress to come into the waiting area and very nastily address the hostess right in front of us. Then they took out tables apart and seated other people. When the rest of our party arrived we called Henry's down the street, who told us there would be no wait for 6 people. We bailed out of Huey's as their actions and attitudes indicated our business did not matter to them. When we arrived at Henry's there was a table for 6 marked "Reserved" waiting for us in the back. The staff at Huey's was rude. End of story. But the server pushed it over the edge. They could have sat us and taken out orders. Unfortunately it's a busy place and I don't think they'll care much about a review like this. But rudeness is unacceptable in the service industry and needs to be put out there. This is 6 people and everyone we know that will never eat at Huey's.

Of all of the meals we ate in Savannah, the one that stands out the most is our breakfast at Hueys. I loved loved and loved the beignets (free with a yelp check in). So good I wanted more of them. The seafood omelet which was GREAT really required more meat and more of that lovely sauce. The breakfast potatoes which was also a small portion were fantastic! I wanted more of that too! Hubby agreed about his omelet as well. More stuffing in those omelets please! They do not take reservations whatsoever so expect a wait, and the service can be slow at times. I think we waited at least 5 minutes before anyone even took our order. But I know we will be going back, because it was the best of the best....

Walked here for breakfast from the hotel and waddled back! We split the artichoke and spinach omlette and an order of beignets. The omlette was fanf'ntastic! The beignets were a nice treat, get a side of praline sauce for them.

I've visited Savannah hundreds of times and Huey's is in my top 5 for best restaurants on River Street. It's a cajun / New Orleans restaurant. There are lots of meh restaurants on River Street but Huey's is not one of them. All you have to do is walk by the half empty restaurants River Street, begging people to come in, some tempting them with samples, then go to Huey's and notice they are jammed packed with people. Recommend.

The food was good, but the service and crowded room were horrible. It was a good 10 minutes before we spoke to a waiter. Then he was rude and seemed miserable. The beignets were good and large. The shrimp and grits were also good. The fried chicken Benedict was tasty, but our food took so long and was served cold.

the only reason this get 5 stars is because of the beignets- you must get the warm praline sauce!!!!!

Loved the view on the river as container ships, tugs, any kind of boat passed. Bell boy at hotel recommended Hueys. was a little skeptical since there were little brochures advertising in the lobby. But this place is fantastic! White linen table cloth and napkins. Hubby got an omelet, i got scrambled eggs; both came with a yummy concoction of potatoes, cheese, green chiles. I wouldn't call it home fries, more potatoes au gratin scooped out into a lump, but oh so good! Toast was also exceptional, a bakery style; no wonder bread here. Free beignets w/ brochure from hotel, were wonderful, better than Cafe Du Monde, NOLA. Service good, prices were not much higher for all the quality received. Highly, highly, recommend it.

Loved! Loved! Loved! We read some of the reviews both good and bad. Most of the bad reviews talked about the wait time and the service, but despite the downplay, we decided to give it a try. What did it for us was that we were in a hurry to catch the Trolley, so when we entered, I shared that info. with the hostess and she made sure to seat us immediately (around lunchtime) and shared the information with our server. Felipe was wonderful. He made sure we were taken care of in a very timely manner. He even brought us crayons to write on the paper-covered tablecloths. He helped us make this first-time visit for us a very memorable one indeed. And the food was wonderful. I suggest you try Huey's On the River. Just be sure however, that you check your attitude before writing a review to ensure you're not exuding negativity because whatever you put out is what you will draw to yourself. By the way, the GUMBO is "to die for".... :)

Had breakfast here on a cool late October Thursday morning. Even then, it was very crowded. Nonetheless there was not much of a wait and we got a window table overlooking the river, and our waiter was grace under pressure personified. The eye-opening Bloody Mary was awesome. Eggs blackstone (eggs benedict w/ fried green tomatoes) were delectable, as were as the (very) cheesy grits. Then, of course, the dessert of breakfast, the beignets, were sinfully delicious (go ahead and get the praline sauce for dipping decadence) This was a great dining experience which prepared us for our walk through Savannah.

Got to Savannah around Noon on a Sunday. The place was packed. Was told about a 20 minute wait for a party of two. We waited almost exactly 20 minutes and then got seated at a nice window table. Ordered a Bloody Mary....good stuff. Service was courteous and efficient. Ordered the Crabcake Eggs Benedict and the Seafood Omelette and shared so we could each have a taste. Both were really good. We passed on the free order of Beignets with Yelp check in, but they looked really good. I would probably go back. There are so many other places in Savannah to try though!

Great restaurant, everything was generally good but there were two standout dishes. The crawfish etouffe- a delicious, slightly spicy roux served on top of rice with chunks of crawfish, was really good- probably the best dish we got. The shrimp and grits was really, really good too- if you like cheese, you will LOVE this dish. The freshly grated cheese on top of the made the dish extra savory. The French onion soup in the beginning was really good, and my friends got a few of their other dishes. We waited about 40 minutes to grab a table, but the service was great. Good beignets too!

Came for late breakfast this Monday morning. Ordered shrimp po boy and my wife had steak & eggs as well as beignets. Beignets came out right away. We the waited for 40 min for the rest of our order. We were on the verge of walking out when our waiter ( who couldn't be found since delivering the beignets 40 min earlier) walked up with our meals. My wife's eggs were cold and the steak was burned to a crisp. The po boy was OK but missing the fries it was supposed to come with. The restaurant wasn't even half full at this time but we noticed other tables waiting for their food for a long time as well. When we got ahold of the waiter and told him the issue with the food he then said the kitchen had some problems with equipment and he would comp the bill. He also said that he knew that the fries were missing but was planning to bring out later. Huh? We will not be returning here. The beignets were good but not that great.

For us, it was all about the beignets! It was our last day after a memorable, long weekend in Savannah. It was my little food critic in training's first trip to the South. While this wasn't New Orleans, it was still important for her to try her first beignets. We got lucky and there was a table outside with a great view of the water. Hotter than 40 hells, nobody wanted to be outside. We didn't care. A plate of beignets and some iced tea, we sat contentedly and enjoyed the last few hours of Savannah. These aren't NOLA beignets. These are big, puffy squares and they fill the whole plate. They come with the obligatory powdered sugar. Then, in true Savannah style, you can order praline sauce to drizzle on them. I did have a bite with the sauce and can see the appeal. It was a bit sweet for us, but fun nonetheless. I can't speak to anything else on the menu, but this is a great spot to grab a bite for your sweet tooth.

Awesome food and experience. You get a plate of warm corn bread which is spot on. The shrimp po boy sandwich is a must try. Also the fried okra is delicious. garlic grits are very flavorful and the key lime pie was the best dessert I tried in Savannah. Great good and service on river street.

  • Liz T.

Shrimp and grits were delicious! I have had grits twice beforehand and always thought maybe grits aren't for me BUTTTT these grits were amazing. They were like cheesy potatoes. Pasta jambalaya was okay, sausage was pretty good. Beignets were okay. I would go back just for the grits! Service was a bit slow but not terrible.

  • Brendon P.

Shrimp and grits were pretty good. I'd say 7/10. Now my wife had the poached eggs with spinach sauce. Side of fresh cut tomatoes. It was heavenly. 10/10 for that. We actually recommended it to the table that sat down after us. Great place for a morning breakfast or brunch.

    (5)
  • Melissa Z.

You can't go to Savannah without making a trip to Huey's. easily the best brunch in Savannah. I've dined here for both dinner and brunch and while both are good, the brunch is knock-your-socks-off good. The breakfast highlights are, the best eggs benedict and the best beignets outside of Nawlins. My favorite Benny is the spinach and artichoke Benedict which is like having a delicious poached eggs on top of a English muffin smothered in a rich spinach and artichoke dip. Every time I eat there, I look covetously at the other tables' order of French toast, bc it looks amazing, but I always get the beignets and am never disappointed. You can get pancakes and waffles anywhere, but you can't get heavenly beignets anywhere, so it's a special treat. The other reason besides the pitch perfect food is the venue. It is situated right smack on the front line of Riverstreet. Brilliantly, the restaurant is wrapped in windows, So, if you're lucky to get a table by the window, you will have a lovely river view. They do call ahead sitting, so I highly recommend that. And the interior is classic olde world Savannah with exposed brick and dark wood flooring for a historic feel, while keeping the place refined clothing the tables in black and white linens. The service is slow, but hey, it's The South. I don't come here to rush a awesome meal.

Maybe we caught an off night but our dining experience was not good. The server came to our table all bundle up and I ask her if she was cold? She said " No I'm sick "! ! My wife ordered a baked potato which came out cold and tasting two days old. My order of a crab cake sandwich tasted unremarkable. Even their water had a bad off taste! The cole slaw was good but that's hardly a reason to make a return visit!

Wasn't even hungry....and then....."Shrimp poboy smothered in gumbo" happened. Wow. The closest thing to New Orleans on one plate. Washed it down with cafe au lait x 2, followed by piping hot, powdery sugary begneits. You must go there. Oh yes. You must.

O.M.G. so I was kind of hesistant because it only had 3 stars but when traveling I like to experience local places I don't have at home. Being that there's like only one creole resturaunt in Orlando (Tibbys) I haven't been to many. But Jesus, Joseph and Mary this place was great! I thought Tibbys was good but this place was excellent. They were busy but we got right in. Waiter was a little slow but again, they were busy. Cornbread was delish. I got a dish I've never ordered before-Shrimp and Grits and it was probably one of the best and most memorable meals I've had in my life. Grits were buttery and well cooked as were the shrimp. If I ever travel through Savannah again, this would be the place I'd go to!

COFFEE? This is as good as it gets!!! If you need a cup of coffee, you absolutely MUST stop here! The coffee is imported Colombian and is continuously brewed all day, so you never get stale or burned coffee. The taste is awesome! The first day, I had the Crabcake Eggs Benedict, which had a fried green tomato. YUM! So flavorful and tasty -- quite possibly the best EB I've ever had. The Parmesan/Garlic Grits were gone in seconds, as they were creamy and very flavorful as well. On day two, we came for breakfast and I had the French Toast (I can't remember the name on the menu - but it was essentially French Toast). It was fluffy, warm, and the powdered sugar made it truly irresistible! SERVICE: The service here was top-notch. Attentive waitresses always kept our glasses/coffee cups. Their attitudes and energetic personalities were just great. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast/brunch!!! We haven't visited for Dinner, but maybe we should!

First time here, came because they were pet friendly. It turns out that they only have 3 tables outside. Be prepared to wait. A 15-20 minute estimated wait turned into 45 at around 10a on Sunday. Directly above it is another restaurant that serves breakfast until 10:30a and allows dogs. (And had no wait - found this out shortly before being seated) The food was decent. Omelettes were of adequate size and sufficiently stuffed with ingredients. The grits, however, were pretty bad. The cheese grits were just regular grits with a sprinkle of cheese on top. Extra butter, salt, and pepper made them edible, but still not good. The beignets were tasty. No cafe du mond, but still yummy. Their coffee was also surprisingly good. Doubt I'll ever go back. Nothing terrible, but nothing worth writing home about.

Im visiting from Los Angeles. Ive been to New Orleans often. I came around 3pm on a sunday and it was pretty easy to get a seat -it may be because it was raining outside. I sat by the window so I had a view of the river, even if it was raining, it was great. I had the Chicken Yvonne with parmesean grits. The food was amazing and so flavorful. My server was very knowledgeable of the food and gave really wonderful suggestions. She cared (which I havent received from all of my servers here in Savannah). I also had beignets with praline sauce and that was delicious too. I dont care to dine alone however would quickly come back alone if I had to because everything was so wonderful.

We had brunch here and it was AWESOME. We came her on a Sunday around 11 am, as expected there was a wait for about 30 minutes. I was ok with waiting since the weather wasn't too hot, and it gave me a chance to take pictures on the street by the river. Everything we ordered was perfect and delicious. Like everyone suggested if you check in on yelp you get a free beignet. Our waitress gave us 2 pieces and I wasn't about to object. I've only had a beignet once before in New Orleans at Cafe du Monde. This version was not exactly like Cafe du Monde, but it was still very good. Fried Green tomatoes - perfectly done. Shrimp and Grits - in the yelp picture section you see almost everyone posted a pic of the Shrimp and Grits and they looked so I good I had to try it. Well I'm glad I did and I have to say one of best Shrimp and Grits I've had. Fresh and perfectly cooked Shrimp. The grits made with parmesean gave it a different flavor than I'm used to. These grits also had little broth poured on top of the girts and they serve it with a piece of french bread so you can soak up the delicious broth with that bread. I could of honestly eat a whole bowl of that broth. The grits were creamy but not too heavy...yes grits are heavy but this kind wasn't overly butter or creamy. It was perfect. P'boy sandwich - my husband ordered this and he said it very good with out me asking. That really means something because my husband normally doesn't rave about how good food. The waitress was really nice and brought us our food and drinks when we asked for it. Although I can't say it was perfect service. To be a nit picker, she didn't give us extra small plates so we could share the beignets. We ended up cutting pieces on the main plate. She did refill my ice tea during my meal, it was only until I was finished with my meal that she asked if I wanted a refill. We did wait more than we wanted to get our check. But the food was so good I'm forgiving these small annoyances and giving this place 5 stars. If I come back to Atlanta I'll be sure to come back to Hueys!

Amazing shrimp & grits! Our favorite so far in Savannah. Beignets incredible too. The best! Great ambiance on river! Crab cakes Benedict a favorite at the table, their potatoes & fried Green tomatoes were done to perfection! Serving breakfast until 3pm. A great spot on the River Walk. And please, get shrimp and grits AND fried green tomatoes to share ~ you won't regret it!!

This was a pretty good place..I had the roast beef po'boy, which was made with mayo and cheese in a french au jus sauce..It was delicious! My date had the crawfish with rice, which was very good, considering both of us have never had crawfish before. It was great that there was absolutely no wait, as well. Check in to yelp & receive FREE beignets!

There was a 25 minute wait so we wandered the shops while we waited for our lunch table to open up. I got the crab cake sandwich and sweet potato fries. The crab cake sandwich was really good and lots of crab and little filler. The sweet potato fries were okay but a little cold so I didn't eat them. We got the beignets with praline sauce for dessert and they were amazing. At the time, if you did a Yelp check in, you got a free beignet. Worth it! Service was slow due to crowd size so if it's crowded, plan on a leisurely meal.

I stopped in here with my team while on a retreat after reading a few good reviews and appreciating Huey's proximity to the waterfront. We got sat pretty quickly but were fairly disappointed in the service... after waiting for more than 15 minutes (and watching a table of flirty SCAD women who came in after us get served before us) the tone for lunch was set. Half of our group had issues with the orders (nothing huge but ingredients that were requested to be kept off included, sides that were swapped which shouldn't have been, wrong drinks, etc.) and the waiter kept cracking jokes about the people at our table as if we were all best friends. I had the pulled pork cajun po boy and it was way to salty, and incredibly messy... I was barely able to hold it and eat it like a normal sandwich, and resorted to using a fork. The rest of the meal and beignets were pretty good, but overall this dining experience and quality of the food was sub-par. I would recommend another spot if you're at the waterfront: there are plenty to choose from and this one may not deliver consistently.

Absoultely lovely. This was a sweet surpirse to grab a table right on by the window here at Huey's. Louisiana-inspired (Apparently Savannah is New Orleans' sister-city, who knew!) this place delivered gracefully its decadent meals to us. I had the eggs benedict which was fashioned with a friend green tomato and a crabcake. The benedict was stacked and the poached egg atop was obviously cooked by someone with skill as it was perfectly runny inside with that nice thing layer of white. Absolutely delicious and incredibly filling; the fact that it came with a side was beyond me but I opted to try the garlic parmasean grits. Divine with a bit a hot sauce. My date enjoyed his shrimp and grits, a classic. We were both so full but we had to try the beignet! We had never had one before, and after hearing this whole sister-city schmeal we figured this is close enough. What a pillow of golden, powdery goodness. The beignets were light and tasty. A perfect ending to our savory meal. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is celebrating a special occasion, loves to people watch and appreciates great food. A little pricey, but worth every cent. My boyfriend said of our entire culinary weekend trip, this was his favorite meal! Highly recommend.

Fried green tomatoes were excellent. We also had the shrimp po boy and oyster po boy. My husband wished that his shrimp po boy was a bit juicer. A little to dry. Had a few beers and the red sangria. Great spot for people watching. We sat outside on the side walk. We also got to try their beignets wich were sooooooooo delicious! You must try it. Our server was very sweet and good. We almost returned back again the next day but got caught up somewhere else.

This was a solid brunch at a reasonable cost. Two entrees and a coffee for around $27, and on River Street to boot. The Pain Perdue had a delicious topping, intricate and memorable. I'd get it again. The Pontchartrain Omelette was...okay. The Hollandaise sauce it was smothered with was mediocre, and the spinach/artichoke mix was not especially flavorful. However, the beignets were off the charts! Definitely more advanced than any I've had, including Café du Monde. They were light, flavorful, and scrumdiddlyumptious. I would come back for those treats, for sure! Server was busy, and some details were forgotten, but she seemed to be doing her best. Very kind.

Our last day in Savannah, Georgia we decided to treat ourselves to a nice breakfast. This falls on a Saturday morning, perhaps the busiest day of the week for them. If you weren't lodging near by, you are looking at a 25-45 minute wait for breakfast. With this knowledge, I was eager to have a taste of their breakfast and see what all the fuss was about. LOCATION Located right off the pier, you can't miss the large windows out in the front. SERVICE Busy and probably stressed out of their minds, the host/ess did not greet us with a smile, instead seated us right away once we confirm that we had just called in to hold a table as we were lodging nearby (Marriott). Courteous, we thank them for seating us right away and shortly after placed our order what seems to be by a waitress who was handling the full house pressure very well. Our drinks and food took adequate time to come out, thus you heard no complaints from us (my partner doesn't count since he has patience like a freaking elephant). FOOD I ordered two(2) mimosas (not all at once) and Creole Omelette with dry wheat toast, and Parmesan garlic grits. I can't say it was the best breakfast ever, but the Parmesan Garlic Grits was awesome. As a bonus (and because the partner wanted me to experience everything that I thought looked interesting), he ordered me Beignets and praline sauce to go. Had I known it tasted as good as it did, I think I would've ordered a dozen. VERDICT I would return and perhaps try their dinner.

I have visited this place twice while in Savannah. Great Bloody Mary's and excellent fried green tomatoes. I also had the crawfish étouffée which I recommend- it is tasty and has a nice balance of flavor and not overly filling.

Delicious. We arrived at ~11:30am and waited about an hour. The shrimp and grits are as good as everyone has said in other reviews. Light, delicious with a tasty broth. The red beans and rice with andouille sausage was my boyfriend's favorite dish of the weekend. We also had the fried green tomatoes which were good. And also got the free beignet with my yelp check in. All SO delicious. Service was good too. Despite how busy it was, our server was very friendly.

The food here is absolutely fantastic (especially the beignets!). I recommend sitting at the bar for dinner; the Bartender, Chris, is very enjoyable to look at and he also makes an amazing Martini ;)

BEIGNETS These don't taste like beignets that I've had before but they are still very very good. The inside is more like a croissant than an airy CRABCAKE BENEDICT Wow. One of the best eggs benedicts ever. The crab cake is so good and perfectly cooked. The eggs were perfectly poached , oozing yolk everywhere. I could do with the fried green tomatoes but they were also very good. I just thought it wasn't necessary. CREOLE OMELETTE My friend had the creole interpreter and he loved it. The shrimp was very good and the eggs cooked nicely. I didn't even get a bite! COFFEE is so good. It's nice and bold, strong to wake you up nicely.

A very popular restaurant on River Street that serves pretty good southern/cajun food. Oh man this place is popular with the brunch crowd. My group of friends and I decided on Huey's On the River since they have outdoor seating, and the wait was nearly 45 minutes. Fortunately, I was able to give them my phone number and they called me when the table was ready. In order to get in the brunch mood, we ordered the Bloody Mary ($8-9) and Mimosa ($8-9). They were a little expensive but you receive generous serving sizes - for example, the mimosa came with another glass of orange juice and the remaining champagne in a little bottle. I ordered the Fried Green Tomato Muffuletta ($10) with sweet potato fries. The Muffuletta was really good - soft bread and not an overwhelming amount of olives in the spread. We ended our meal with Beignets (if you check in on yelp you get one for free) - scrumptious, served warmed and made fresh, with an obscene amount of powdered sugar. While it wasn't the best cajun food I've ever had, it was a very satisfying meal with excellent service. The brunch drinks are pricey, so beware if you plan on having a few.

I would give the location and food a strong 4 star as the fried green tomatoes were out of this world and my pasta jambalaya was just as great. The service- was horrible. Our waitress didn't greet our table for a good 10 minutes....not a huge deal. Then we watched as tables around us who were sat WAY after we ordered got their salads, corn bread and appetizers as we just sat there. Finally with our waitress no where in sight we stopped someone and had them check on our food. When it did come out our waitress never even asked how our food was and never kept up with our tea refills. She seemed annoyed and too busy to even act like she cared about our dining experience. We will be back to being friends and family and try it again but hopefully we get a different server.

Our last day in Savannah and we'd gotten s late start and most of the restaurants had long wait lists. We ventured into Huey's ( thank you Yelpers) and for a moment thought the possibility of eating was not in the cards ... But the host was kind enough to find us seating and our waiter was attentive and had our drink orders within 30 seconds of being seated. I happened to check in my visit in Yelp and was pleasantly surprised when a screen popped up on my phone stating I'd earned myself a free Beignet by simply checking in on Yelp, th waiter walked up just as I was talking about it and seemed pleased that I had earned myself a delicious pillow of powdered sugar and light pastry that reminds me of a fried crepe... My friend then checked in on her phone and got one too! I ordered the sausage and peppers Po boy and my Friend ordered the ham and cheese Po boy... Wow, so much food and so very good! Service was great, food was good, and we got a free dessert thanks to Yelp. What's not to like?

I have to be honest, when I first walked in I was nervous that it was going to be an awful experience because the girl that was the hostess didn't greet us with a smile, I did not feel welcome and I felt like I ruined her day by walking in there but luckily it was uphill from there. Our waiter, Mac, was very friendly and helpful when it came to helping us select drinks and food by letting us know what his favorites were. He recommended the Lemon Drop Martini which was really delicious, it comes with a scoop of lemon sorbet in it and it tastes perfect if you mash it up in the drink. He also recommended the margarita which was absolutely amazing. I promise it is the best margarita I have ever tasted, it was so fresh & simple yet so damn good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as appetizer because it's blasphemous to leave Savannah without having some. They were definitely delicious and filled me up a good bit. My entree came with a salad as well, I chose caesar which I wasn't expecting to be anything special but whatever their caesar dressing is made it really, really good. As an entree I got the Chicken Yvonne. The reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because this dish really should have been the star of the show but it was just decent. The chicken was a little overcooked, not really juicy like I would expect but I did enjoy the sauteed crawfish tails on top. I had it with some parmesan and garlic grits which were flavorful and spot on. Another plus was getting a free beignet for checking in here on yelp, they came out nice and fresh and warm and they basically melted in your mouth. I don't know what a beignet is supposed to taste like because it was my first time trying one but it definitely gave me a great first impression.

Huey's was really good. I think it might be closer to 3$$$ than 2$$. The bill for two people was around $100. We got a drink each, an app and a main course. The check in beignet was awesome also! I would come back here for another tasty treat. The wild caught shrimp were some of the best shrimp I hVe ever had.

Amy is great and truly made our experience memorable! She was not only friendly, but so helpful in ensuring that we had full glasses of water, and coffee. The French toast was amazing... But it seems like you're paying for the location more than anything!

Really enjoyed the food. It was fresh and cooked well. We had shrimp and grits, pesto pasta, and red beans and rice. All dinners are served with a simple green salad and warm corn bread. Service has been slow at several restaurants but the servers have been nice.

This is an awesome spot that is located right on the water. It is very cozy on the inside and the staff is very hospitable. I tried the fish of the day which was tilapia. I got it blackened. I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the salad and Parmesan grits. However, I absolutely fell in love with the cornbread. My waitress gave me two pieces to go

Our 1st night in Savannah, we decided to go out for dinner to another seafood restaurant but we didn't like the look of the restaurant. Just up further, we saw another seafood restaurant and decided to go in (the back door). We walked inside, to the front lobby, and found a guy sitting by himself, we assumed he was the host, and brought us back inside for a table by the window. It was dark already, but it was hard to see we're actually right on the river front, when we saw a cruiser. Enough of this! We were served right away. We ordered the Seafood Platter, but it was huge, and we divide it in half, so by the time we each finished our meals, we were STUFFED baked LIKE TROUT! Everything was cooked to perfection! The bathroom, was out the 'double door, and under the stairs." Same door we came in when we entered the restaurant. For someone afraid of being out alone, in the rain, in the dark, in a new town, it was further down the alley, and if I scream now, my husband won't be able to hear me, since I've just stepped out of the restaurant & into another part of the building! Ghost? Yes, I heard there are a lot of ghosts in Savannah! But I was brave enough to find my way back inside where my husband was waiting for me patiently. We got out of there before the stores closed, @ 10PM.

Went to Huey's on Wednesday evening around 8:30. No wait, efficient waiter (20% tip), food was delivered in a timely manner with appropriate drink service. Positive atmosphere, good view of river. The menu has a good variety so I was pleased with my choices. I did my usual sampler platter when it comes to a seafood place, and ordered the Bayou Seafood Platter. Also received cornbread, dinner salad and choice of side (red beans & rice.) I split this with Suzanne and we were both pleased with the portions. Kitchen also split up the order for us. This is a great convenience; thanks! Seafood was flaky and fresh, loved it. Salad and Red Beans and Rice were enjoyable. Also enjoyed the Lemon Drop Martini. Beignet was a little doughy but forgivable; still tasty and free with the Yelp check-in (full disclosure.) Huey's was a good choice and we'd do it again.

This place has a great location and amazing food!!! The staff was extremely friendly and even took care of our pup that was with us. If you're in Savannah, this is the perfect place to go. I would recommend sitting outside because the atmosphere is so nice and you can watch the ships go by. I would also highly recommend the shrimp and scallop thermador! We also got the BBQ shrimp appetizer which was fantastic. Check it out, you won't regret it!

Sat in the bar, service was great. I had the fried green muffuletta- very tasty but too much bread. Boyfriend had the crab cake sandwich which he said was good. But let's be real, I went for the beignets. With the praline topping? Deeeeeelicious.

I don't think I will ever try this restaurant again. I understand that they were busy whenever we dined in, but the service was terrible. Our waitress did not even refill our drinks. We only saw her a total of 4 times. When she asked for our drinks, took our order and gave us our drinks, served our main course, and gave us our check. She did not once check up on us for refills or anything else. The free beignet offer that Yelp provides was the only enjoyable food I ate. I ordered the Pasta Jambalaya, and it was totally not worth my money. It was watery and had no flavor. My friend ordered a burger, and well, I mean, it's a burger, it was just a regular burger you could get anywhere else. Nothing special about it. But it was enjoyable for him, unlike my dish.

Driving back from the middle of the country, I always make it a point to stop in Savannah, and find a place to eat prior to the six-hour drive to Fort Lauderdale. We Yelped restaurants, and this New Orleans-inspired restaurant had pretty solid reviews, and a large number of them. My three stars are more like 3.75. Not a 4.0, but not a 3.0. When in Georgia, it's legally required to order fried green tomatoes, which we did. So tasty. It kind of tastes like breaded pickles. They also bring out cornbread to snack on as well. We also shared some fish stick appetizers as well. I had shrimp pasta that was creole inspired. It was spicy, and was not too filling. It was a good place to stop. Afterward, I would encourage walking up and down the walkway, as well as make your way inland about five or six blocks. Lots to see and do. Savannah is such a beautiful, older city with a lot a character.

Food was delicious and presentation was perfect! But the lack of customer service and consideration on behalf of the guest was horrible! The host broke a glass at a nearby table and glass went flying everywhere. All across our food, table and also hitting me in the face! The staff did not apologize nor wanted to make any concessions for the incident. This truly put a damper on our brunch and left a bad taste in our mouths. Manager never came over to us to apologize nor acknowledged the incident SMH!

Mike was our waiter - super nice guy who took great care of me and my family. We used the free beignet coupon here on Yelp to start. The beignets were made from a good doughnut dough recipe - you've got to try the praline sauce with them! From there we had Eggs Benedict with a side order of breakfast potatoes; the kids had the French toast (Pain Perdue?). You can't really go wrong with Eggs Benedict - the eggs were perfectly poached; the English muffin toasted just right, and the Canadian bacon was on time. The breakfast potatoes had a "twice-baked" quality to them - really good stuff. And, the French toast was exceptional - yeah, I had to help the kids finish their orders (3 thick slices). The pecan butter that is served with the French toast is fantastic! From start to stop, Huey's has a rockin' breakfast!

Great location right on the river. Went with my boyfriend for brunch on a Saturday. The wait wasn't long to get seated. Was told that it was a 25 minute wait and only had to sit there for 10-15 minutes. The hostess was very nice and talked to us while we waited to be seated. The server was just as nice and really good on checking on us. The orange juice was really fresh and so delicious! And I can't even explain how good the food was. I had the shrimp and grits and it was so cheesy with the perfect amount of kick from the Cajun spices, I pretty much licked the plate clean. Definitely take advantage of the daily specials, my boyfriend had the fried chicken benedict, it was just as amazing as my meal.

The beignets were delicate and flavorful. The crawfish etoufee was delicious and just spicy enough. The shrimp was breaded lightly and was extra tasty. Definitely a spot to which we will return next time we're in Savannah.

Food was just average. Had the chicken egg Benedict. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. It's basically a cool place to have brunch with friends with a view of the river. Only real issue is their beignet. It was absolutely terrible. Super dense and under fried. Doesn't have the same texture and taste as the ones we had in New Orleans

The only people who give this place better than a 3-star rating (average) are tourists who aren't accustomed to good Southern or local seafood. Huey's is situated on tourist trap row, in between a few tourist driven candy stores and brings tourists like prices. We sat in the small bar area and started with the shrimp, which were fine. However, things went downhill in a hurry when we ordered the crawfish etouffee. It took a mere three minutes for it to reach our table and less than 10 seconds for us eat to take a bite and put our fork down. Having visited the Gulf State for a decade and spending plenty of time in Louisiana, this might be the worst crawfish etouffee we've ever had, period. It smelled fishy, tasted fishy, the rue tasted fishy and the crawfish tasted like they were just thawed. It was nasty. We called our waiter over and asked for the bill, having taken a mere bite and he knew something was wrong before he came back. "What'd you think?" he asked. "It was ok," I said. He asked us to be honest. I told him it was the worst I've ever had. He laughed. "I won't eat that," he told us. "I'm from Louisiana. It doesn't taste anything like back home." We laughed. He said he wouldn't eat any of the seafood here. They took it off our bill and we ate elsewhere.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. The only downside is the initial wait to get in. We went on July 4th mid-morning and waited about an hour after being told it would be only 10-15 minutes. I'm a realist and know we did arrive at the worst time for brunch but still the host should be a bit more realistic. At least they have a small waiting room with chairs (which not everyone knows about -- until now) Once seated, our waiter Dan was extremely friendly and helpful arrived. I pulled out my trusty yelp app which had a coupon for a free bignette! We had that first with our coffees (mine was iced and was perfect!) The bignette was excellent. 1 was perfect for us to share because the real food was about to show itself. I had the seafood omlette which was loaded with all sorts of shellfish and was topped off with a touch of thermadore sauce (I was afraid they would drown it, but thankfully they didn't) this was accompanied by some garlic grits. My gf ordered crab benedict which was delishious as well. She had cheese grits. This out of all of the retaurants on River St. was the only one that had a line out the door. You will see why once you try them.

A second visit here and it hasn't changed. The Shrimp and Grits were as good if not better than the first time we came here. Huey's came highly recommended from family and friends so I knew I had to try it while in Savannah for the Rock n Roll weekend. We started with the beignets - oh my, were they amazing; so fluffy and delicious. And be sure to order the praline sauce. I ordered the special which was a potato hash with sausage, butternut squash and lots of goodness that I now can't even remember. It's such a shame that there isn't a location closer to Atlanta! Be sure to stop here during your visit in Savannah - well worth the wait!!

The happy hour specials are good; bogo well drinks, wine, beer and food specials. It's located in a touristy area, but we went and sat at the bar for the happy hour and got the honey wings which were awesome! We had the fish for dinner and it was good as well. Nice atmosphere, good prices. Would definitely go back.

Stopped in at Huey's yesterday for a late lunch around 2:45 and found the place packed; fortunately, we were seated at the last table and dined on Shrimp and Grits as well as Crawfish Étouffée. While I've had better shrimp and grits at other establishments in Savannah, the crawfish étouffée has just the right amount of spice to it. Service was efficient and courteous. Would return again.

  • Lindsay W.

Service was slow, food was rather lousy, expensive for what you get (but so is everything on River Street), and there was a small festival across the street. Festival wasn't their fault, however, they chose to keep all of the windows open on the street level rather than closing them. The noise level in Huey's is already loud, but for a restaurant to keep the windows open when a party is going on no more than 30 feet away made the noise level go through the roof. I could not talk to the person sitting next to me without yelling. Long story short, I'd only go back for the beignets.

Loved this place! Great service and awesome food! The beignets were delicious and so were the cheese grits! My husband had crab cake and sweet potatoes fries that he thoroughly enjoyed. It's right near the river so it's a great location if you need a break while shopping!

Another highly touted breakfast spot by the locals that I was not overly impressed with. Not a huge breakfast menu. Crab cakes on Benedict are just ok but eggs are perfectly poached. Beignets are big and a nice New Orleans treat in Savannah. Great view from the window.

My second time coming to Huey's and it did not disappoint. The first trip was last spring for a post wedding brunch, where I had the shrimp & grits w/ beignets. Having eaten at Cafe Du Monde too many times to count, the beignets at Huey's are as close to New Orleans as I can get. My second trip this past weekend, I ordered the oyster poboy w/ the garlic parmesan grits. Everything was delicious! My po boy was made with real french bread (some places try to pass off hoagie rolls- that is NOT authentic!), fully dressed w/ lettuce, tomatoe, pickles and creole mayo w/ the oysters fried to perfection. Everyone else was satisfied w/ their meals too, which included the shrimp po boy, jazz burger and chicken tenders for the kids. The only downside was a mix up with food being brought to the table and being charged for the wrong items on our ticket, but it was quickly resolved.

  • Elle O.

This place was excellent. My in laws, husband and brother in law all ordered various Po boy's and we were not disappointed. It can get a little busy and the staff seemed to be overwhelmed, but overall the Po boys were fantastic and the drinks we ordered were out of this world. We ended up talking to one of the chefs outside, who I informed had never had grits (being Australia) he had some sent out to the table for me, so I cannot fault this place at all. Will definitely be returning once we move to Savannah.

Huey's is an absolute MUST when visiting the historic district of Savannah. If you go for anything at Huey's, go for the beignets. They are fluffy, absolutely delicious, and covered with the most incredibly decadent amount of powdered sugar you will ever see or eat. I cannot say enough about them. Seriously, if you go to Savannah, you must, absolutely MUST go to Huey's for the beignets. You will not be disappointed. Every time we go to Savannah, we make it a top priority to stop in at Huey's for the beignets. They are that good. We have had breakfast and brunch at Huey's and enjoyed the options, but it really is all about the beignets. We come back for them every time. If you can get an outdoor table, do it. Huey's has a beautiful view of the river and river street itself. It can be a crowded restaurant, so during peak times the wait can be long. It is worth it though for those beignets.

We came here for dinner last weekend and had a good experience. My husband and I were seated immediately and I was amazed on how quick it was being that it was a Saturday night. Our server was polite, attentive and sincere. He took our orders and brought out cornbread and butter while we waited. I ordered the roast beef po'boy with sweet potato fries and my husband had the special which was a flounder dish. My dinner was amazing. It was the best po'boy I have had in a while. I wanted to try out their beignets so we ordered a dozen to-go plus an extra po'boy to-go. I'll be honest, the beignets were disappointing. Okay, I understand this isn't Louisiana but I had high expectations for these amazing, sweet donuts that are dusted in powdered sugar. Whatever dough they had used or created from scratch was definitely nothing compared to what you would get at the Café Du Monde in New Orleans. For those of you who have actually tasted the real thing, you will notice the difference. It tasted like they just whipped up some basic donut batter that had no flavor whatsoever. Sorry, but how can you mess up beignets?!?! I was deeply saddened. Anyway, everything else was great. If it hadn't been for the beignet disappointment, I would have given more stars.

Nice little place by the river. I ordered the poached eggs, overcooked, but it's okay it happens. The fried green tomatoes are to die for. But the highlight were the beignets in praline sauce. They the best beignets you can get outside of Louisiana. Our waiter was polite and attempted. The food came relatively fast. It is reasonably priced, and located right on the river.

Awesome place on River Street! I was a bit wary to come here because everything is so touristy, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and the price. Definitely a great value. There was a short 15 minute wait on a Saturday afternoon, so we sat at the bar for a little bit, got a beer, and got seated. We got the crawfish étouffée, gumbo, and shrimp and grits. They were all deeeeelicious (especially the gumbo), and they definitely didn't skimp out on the crawfish. We then got our free beignets (per person), and having been to Cafe Du Monde a couple of times, I was feeling a bit pretentious. However Huey's beignets were nice and airy and not greasy. Yummy! Of course, our server Mike was awesome. If I have visitors again I will definitely go to Huey's instead of the other tourist traps on River Street.

Awesome food. Great location. Fast service. Will return! We sat by the window and the air from the AC was blowing directly on us so that why the 5th star is not shaded

Pros: Parmesan and garlic grits were amazing; beignets were to die for; crab cake Benedict was incredible and doused in hollandaise; you will be full for many many hours after your brunch here. Cons: very slow service (we were eating outside, so maybe that contributed); kind of standard brunchy food. Overall: worth going to once, probably not twice.

We went to Huey's at a very busy time. The wait time was about 15 minutes. If you roam around to the shops, it doesn't seem like a long time. We got our food quickly. I had the Shrimp Creole. It had a little bit of spice, which was just enough for my taste. As a desert, we ordered some beignets. The middle was a little doughy. There was a lot of powdered sugar, but one wouldn't be able to taste all of it because of whole beignet. The service was good at first. Our waiter did not get our check to us for 20 minutes. The wait was something that I did not see other people experience. Ask for the check when your waiter is at your table.

My wife and I came down to enjoy Historic Savannah GA. Before arriving my brother kept telling me, " Make sure you go to Huey's and get the beignets! " Unfortunately, we didn't eat lunch there but we did get the beignets and OMG, they were so delicious. They were nice and hot, fluffy and delightful. The praline sauce put it over the top. Awesome, if I didn't live so far away,I would visit them every other day.
