Have been eating here for years and always loved it...since change of ownership/mgt, new waitress is abrasively rude and loves to make everyone think she's boss...will not shut her loud mouth for one moment's peace...really spoils what used to be a favorite meal. Just no where near the same!

Great food, reasonably priced. We stopped in on a friend's recommendation, and we were very pleasantly surprised. Our favorite place to eat when we're in Ellijay! Get there early though. Not many booths and they fill up quick. And it's BYOB. Luckily, there is a convenience store next door. :)

GREAT fresh seafood. Come early if you don't want to wait. This is a fish market first, and a restaurant second. Not much seating, probably only 8-10 booths.

Just picked up lunch special shrimp and grits and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.. It was really good; especially since I haven't had it before. Service was good and the girls in the short shorts was a extra bonus!! A definite bonus for Ellijay..

Well, the map isn't correct. It's actually 716 Industrial Blvd, Ellijay, in the same strip as the Marathon fuel station. Not off Dogwood Drive and Maddox Road as the Yelp map shows.

Eating here is what I imagine it's like eating at, say, a Captain D's, but at around 3-4 times the price. I can't say for certain, as I've never actually eaten at Captain D's, but I'm guessing it's pretty damn close. Now, least you think "Hey, what do you expect eating at a place in the mountains called 'Jolly Roger,'" let me assure you I had appropriately low expectations. And it was still bad enough for me to never want to eat here again. The food is over priced and heavy on the fried items, which was expected. But the quality was pretty poor, especially for $17 + per entree. Mussels (steamed) were tough and flavorless. Fried stuff shrimp (yes, we ordered poorly) was clearly pre-fab and had been sitting in a freezer somewhere for quite some time. Same for fried coconut shrimp, with a terribly overly sweet and sticky sauce. Inside this place is a small seafood market where I've picked up a pound of shrimp on occasion. (I was too afraid to ask where they sourced their product, because ignorance is bliss. I'm guessing somewhere in Asia). Now, while the prepared food was pretty awful, I might have still dropped in the market every now and then when desperate. However. The absolute nail in the coffin for this place was when the haggard-looking waitress/hostess/whatever dropped off the check the second after our entree plates hit the table. Seriously? Up to that point, we had been served by a David from Roseanne look-alike who was pretty unimpressive. Then chick drops the check and at that point I considered the meal a total loss. Best part was when she came back to pick it up and, after looking at the bill, asked if David look-alike asked us if we wanted coffee and dessert. Which, coming to the place, was the plan. Yeah, lady, that option pretty much closed once we were not so subtly told our meal was over. Service was so bad I tipped 15% and now I'm kinda mad I did because I think I probably over-tipped.

We had a great meal at Jolly Roger and brought home fresh mussels and red snapper. Yum.
