We came by for lunch on a Saturday. There wasn't many other people there, so the service was very attentive. The food was decent especially the fried plantains, the Cubano sandwich was good, but the ham was just deli ham, I was hoping for real ham. The churros were kind of hard, so I wasn't too impressed by them. Good selection of drinks too. If we're in the area we'll probably try them again, but I'm not sure we'll seek them out.

I've been coming here for many years now. The food has always been delicious. The shrimp corn chowder soup is a must! The service used to be slow, nobody greets you when you come in so you have to wait around & wonder if you sit yourself or what? The owner recently remodeled the restaurant & made it bigger with a much better bar! From my visit today, it looks like they worked on improving their service, & the food is great as before! If you're around the area, I do recommend you stop by & check it out!

Great spot for lunch or dinner, portions are huge and good for sharing! The flavors of all the food we ordered was delicious and the decor is nice and uplifting. Yucca fries = loved the sauce it comes with, makes it taste much better! Plantains = cooked crispy which had a great taste Veggie paella = yum! so much flavor in this and it was a tad spicy too Veggie burrito = pretty good Even though it was quite busy during work lunch hours, which caused much slower service, overall I would definitely come back to visit again.

I loved the atmosphere, very family like and cozy. The food was very good. I had the Cuban sandwich and besides being the typical sandwich, it was very well done. The quantity of food is also very good. The manager went to our table and was very friendly engaging in a conversation, recommending specialties for future reference. Definitely coming back here.

My first impression upon arrival was of that of a Mexican restaurant. The menu items seemed to be Mexican with a twist. I ordered the carnitas dish. The portion was plenty, but most items in the plate seemed to be heated left overs. The black beans looked like re-fried beans, the carnitas which are suppose to be tender and juicy had a crunchy layer, which is only sign of microwave overheat. Overall impression, a Mexican restaurant posing as something else. I would not recommend or visit again. Server were attentive, they all seem to go over same tables, so you end up having to answer the same questions 3 times, it beats not getting any attention? hehehe Flan was good, it was about the only thing I would go back for.

I have only been here for lunch but it is one of the best places you can go for great food off peach tree industrial blvd. The food is as authentic as you can get.

I remember back in the day when Armando's was a hidden gem - I used to go there a lot. Now it's not so convenient to me but I went last weekend. It was a Friday night and the place was packed. Long lines waiting for a table. Definitely make reservations. The food is still great, service is friendly, prices are reasonable and their menu selection is wide enough to appeal to everyone in your group. We had a party of 14 and they did a great job with our group. COMPLIMENTARY CHIPS AND SALSA While I love their regular menu items, the chips and salsa were just ok. Still who can complain about free chips and salsa? :) PAELLA VALENCIANA - $13 I love paella and I have great memories of Armando's paella. This one had yellow rice, calamari (rings and rings of them), shrimp (nice size!), baked chicken thigh (juicy and very flavorful!), Spanish smoked sausage (spicy!), green bell peppers, onions, pimentos, clam juice and their own secret spices. So yummy and nice kick too. I got the paella for one but it was enough for two meals - my leftovers tasted yummy too! I couldn't decide between this dish or the Pollo a la Parilla - our server said both are very good here. Based on the other Yelp reviews and feedback from my dinner companions, next time I'd like to try the Pollo a la Parilla which is their house specialty ($12), Ropa Vieja ($10), Lobster Tacos ($11), Caribe Dip ($9) and their Cuban sandwich. Of course not all in the same visit, haha :) If you're in the Duluth area and love Latin food, you need to eat here.

Well, as my previous review stated, I would be returning to Armando's Caribe a number of times to try more menu items. Over a year has gone by and I am happy to report that Armando's guacamole still reigns supreme as the best I've had. I have tried a number of other menu items - burritos, empanadas, tacos... all have been consistently great, but their Ropa Vieja is truly special. The tattered shreds of juicy braised beef in the creole sauce of tomatoes, onions, and peppers created a moment of unparalleled taste-bud euphoria. I've come to respect Armando's for what they are - more so "Caribbean Latin American", than "Mexican". As such, I've leaned towards menu items like their empanadas and the aforementioned Ropa Vieja (and away from their burritos). When in doubt trust in the parrot depicted on their printed menus (or palm trees on their online menu) that denote their signature menu items.

Been to Armando's more than 10 times within the last year. Today I have the worst experience. The manager/owner was one the rudest people I have ever met in my life. My sisters & I walked into the restaurant & a staff member pointed to a table for us to sit and didn't even walk us to our table. The manager/owner was our waitress. She shorted us our margarita drinks and when we questioned it she began arguing with us and blaming her staff member who made the drinks. We told her we would never come back to her restaurant and she said she didn't care and adiós.

Absolutely my favorite spot to go to. We have become regulars here. Everything here food wise is delicious. Also the staff are so nice and attentive. Every time we come in Alberto takes care of us! He's a great server and makes awesome margaritas! Here's the food rundown: Appetizers -Guacamole dip is always fresh and delicious -Queso dip is very good! -Creamy artichoke dip is just okay, never ordered it again. Main dishes -Lobster tacos are very good. The sauce on the tacos is a little sweet and I didn't really care for that flavor. -Pollo a la Parilla is probably my favorite dish here. You get a half of a chicken that has been marinated in a mojo sauce. So tasty! Big enough for two people, but I just takes leftovers. -Combo fajitas are cooked perfectly! Dish meant for one, but two people can share. -Bistec a la Parilla- very good if you're in the mood for beef. Again it is enough for two people to share. -Arroz con Pollo- Very good and flavorful. Again a lot of food. -Paella Valenciana- The paella is pretty good, but I'm picky about my paella. Once you've had paella in Spain, every paella you have after that you compare to that dish. Drinks The margaritas here are awesome! My personal favorite is the Texas margarita. It tastes like a traditional margarita. The blue margarita comes in second. On Mondays the margaritas are only $2.95 during lunch! Definitely give this place a try!

Honestly I've always been a fan of Armondo's. The salsa is great and Cubano is the best in town. Unfortunately they have very poor management. The hostess walks around with a giant note pad and has no idea what group came in first. She is walking around looking for tables and seating parties in the wrong order. Our party was the first to arrive for the night and were the last to be seated. When I brought this up to the hostess she suggested there were multiple parties ahead of us. When I pointed out a party of 6 that was seated before us her excuse was "they must have seated themselves". How does that even happen?? We arrived at 7 pm and were told our table for 7 would take 15-20 minutes. One hour and a half later we were finally seated. Once we finally received service our food took another hour to come out. I was very dissatisfied with the service at Armondo's. Don't get me wrong the food is amazing. But I prefer to order over the phone and pick up. I would suggest Armondo hires more employees and focuses on better service.

Well I figured after a 2 year absence the service would have changed. The only thing that changed was they added more space to the restaurant which is good because it is always busy, but the service is as dismal as ever! Add staff and a host to facilitate some sort of service. You can't afford $60/night to better your service? The food was very good but as they say- you can forgive a mistake from the kitchen if the service is good, but not the other way around. I will never go back........ On top of all that they altered my tip I left the bartender. So if you decide to go watch your credit card receipt

Reasonably priced, great service, food was outstanding and the margs were strong. Place looked clean and presentable with a festive Cuban vibe. I was torn between several appealing choices they had on the menu, but decided to go with the Pollo de la Parilla. The chicken was delicious and cooked perfectly. My brother got the Paella and said it was unbelievable. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

I have been to Armando's many times but my visit on Wednesday was my first in a while. The food is always decent but the service ranges from adequate to awful. This time it was awful. The manager took our order. My order included the chicken soup, which is good. It never arrived. I asked 3 people including the manager where my soup was. The other two pretended to not understand English. One, a young woman who came to the table to refill drinks, muttered "sopa" under her breath and went to clean up a table. The manager ( on my 4th request) said there was a kitchen mix up. On my 5th request his response was to ask me if I still wanted the soup. I said I did. It finally came. No comment, no apology, nada. This guy just does not care.

Armando and Alberto hold a special place in my heart. Well prepared food served by friendly people. Good service, great margaritas and a classy new bar area. My wife and I have been frequenting this place for six years, and we are always greeted warmly and have never once been disappointed. Their food is as consistent as their service. Try the steak tacos or the salmon salad.

This was our 2nd visit and I really like this place. It's not upscale by any means but the staff is attentive and they have a great variety of food. You can choose between many Cuban or Mexican dishes and portion size was fairly large (enough to split). This night I had the Caribe Dip for my entree, technically from the appetizer menu, and it was lovely. It was more than enough for a meal and I highly recommend. Gooey cheese dip containing chicken, shrimp and steak comes to you with flour tortillas and some of the best pico de gallo I've ever had, impressive. Salsa is quite obviously fresh and not super hot, I ate so much! I'm picky about my salsa, usually at a restaurant they either try and pass off store-bought as fresh or make it so darn hot it's inedible. This was perfect! The only minor issues with restaurant- when we arrived there was no host/hostess and no greeting. We just kind of stood around for a few minutes and then just sat ourselves. There doesn't seem to be assigned tables for the servers so we answered questions in duplicate and triplicate because different servers kept trying to help us. There are worse problems to have though, and they are all very friendly,

Decent food. I had the seafood paella. It seemed pretty fresh. Portion size was good. The restaurant was a little noisy for my taste, but service was great. I'd go back.

First impressions for a Tuesday night. No one to tell you were to be seated. Seat yourself. Ask for water. The wait staff looking a little understaffed. We will not be back. The juice just was not worth the squeeze. Food was just bland. Sorry we had such high expectations from the reviews.

We were in the area for a soccer tournament and found this place on Yelp; it's wonderful! The service was great and the food was as well. My husband and I had a Cuban sandwich and they were delicious. Next time we are in the area we will come back!

Good food, large portions. I lived in Miami for 5 years so I get picky about Cuban food. The ropa vieja was really tasty, tostones were good, the black beans were extremely bland (could just be today). No Cuban coffee:( but the Cuban sandwiches were also on point.

  • Murray H.

Worst service ever. I've been coming here off and on for years and this is by far the worst its ever been. Food is good, margaritas are strong, but the poor service ruined it for me and my family. How do you have a packed restaurant with only 3 servers.... WTH!!! I'm done with this place. Never coming back.

  • Roi C.

One of my favorite cuban joints. The waiters/waitresses are extremely friendly and quick. My favorite thing by far is the crab cake, though I frequently order the paella. The rice here is quite good and firm, and reminds me of some of my favorite tapas places. I do not order the tacos, but my wife is quite fond of them.

  • Ida C.

I'm so glad I found this place on yelp. Great food! Ordered the Paella Valencia and it was delicious. The seafood was cooked perfectly in there and the chicken was fall off the bone goodness. The carnitas plate was huge and the large chunks of pork was very flavorful. The outside was nice and crisp and the inside was still juicy and tender. Margaritas were also cheap and yummy. Service is pretty good. Chips and salsa were kept full at our table and our waiter asked us a couple times if we were ok. Definitely will go back!

    (4)
  • Karen Y.

Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious. We ordered a paella, quesadilla, and dessert for two people. The arroz con pollo came out sizzling hot on a skillet, chicken was fall of the bone tender. Quesadilla was cheesy, steak goodness and also came with black beans and rice. But the best part was the flan!! It was listed on the menu as 'a must have'. May be the best flan I've had in my life. Tastes homemade, it was super creamy and vanilla-y. We also had fried icecream as well. Service was excellent. The bill was only about 35 bucks which is not bad at all seeing as we ordered two entrees, complimentary chips, two desserts, and still had enough to take home. Definitely will come back.

Let me say, in all honesty, this is the BEST Caribbean restaurant around! The Lobster Taco's are incredible and the Mojo Chicken is AMAZING! Seriously, a quarter chicken marinated in the most succulent Mojo Marinate ever and the meat will fall right off the bone. The Lobster Taco is filled with lobster and a lightly fried jalapeno slice drizzled with a delicious sauce. I also recommend their Tilapia Taco, Pork Chop, Chicken Reuben Sandwich and Calamari...they are all truly incredible. You are greeted with the atypical chips and salsa, but even the salsa is above average and the atmosphere is quite nice, as is the service. I have an affinity for Caribbean fare, so I've tried many local restaurants and these guys are unquestionably the best.

Very impressed with Armando's Caribe on our 1st visit. Delicious food & drinks at decent prices. Great service. We had dinner here on a Sunday night and Armando's Caribe was very busy. ~ free chips & salsa - very good & our server was very good at refilling the chips & salsa ~ guava margarita - delicious & strong ~ sangrita - sangria & frozen margarita swirl :) unique & yummy! ~ lobster tacos - great flavors! definitely my favorite dish here so far ~ salmon burrito - again great flavors ~ jerk chiken wings - very good! has a nice kick to it ~ guacamole - really fresh ~ homemade flan - mmm mmm mmm one of the best flan I've had

Try the Valencia Paella. You will be back. Beware of the squid. It's the small variety with tentacles. If you don't like that I'd suggest asking them to leave that out. Served in a cast iron skillet over yellow rice. It's not the super liquids paella that you find in some areas. The flavor is fantastic. They do seafood very well. Actually they do everything very well. We haven't had a dish we weren't impressed with. They can get very busy in the evening. They have a lunch special for each day. Pro tip: watch where you are sitting the windows high up catch the setting sun like mad. Sit in the wrong spot and you will be squinting the entire meal.

Best place in Atlanta for Paella! I finally found the perfect spot. I'm so excited to bring my friends. We are die hard foodies and have been looking for a good place to try paella. The parking is huge and easy to get to the restaurant. The staff was wonderful to us. The restaurant is clean as is the restrooms and it's very lively with Spanish music playing making this place perfect for a large group. I also got to meet the owner Armando he's a doll! I truly enjoyed it!

On each visit, I remember why I love this place! The food is great (I get tacos and my husband gets the arroz con pollo), the staff is friendly (they always interact with my son) and the drinks are amazing (all are good but the margaritas are the best). Our first visit was for my birthday with our then less than a year old son. They were very nice to our son which means a lot to us, especially since we now have two kids. We always take home leftovers, the portions are a nice size. I would visit this place every week if I could.

Love, love, love this place. Service is always friendly and attentive and the food is absolutely DELICIOUS. We live right around the corner so when we feel like going out for some quality time, this is our first choice. The drinks are great, specially the margaritas. Would so recommend this place, the food, drinks and staff are definitely a 5 star !

  • Annie L.

This place gets 5 stars for sure. Food: food was fresh, delicious, and most importantly, great portion size for the price! we ordered the salmon burrito (great flavor but don't expect an actual burrito...looked like an oversized taco) and the paella (my favorite!). the paella said it could feed 2, but it really could feed 3. we also ordered the house margarita---it was strrrooooonggg and delicious. Service: our server was excellent. he gave recommendations on the food, was prompt with our water and orders. most importantly, he gave us a drink on the house! it was very unexpected but a nice touch. Atmosphere: I think the place has a very low key vibe...not exactly a "hole in the wall" but I wouldn't consider this place super fine dining. it's very casual---which I really like! Overall: I wouldn't hesitate on coming here again. Next time I'm craving for some Mexican/caribbean-ish food, this is my to go place!

What?! It is so LOUD in here! I remember when this was some generic BBQ place, I am much happier with its current persona! Had an enjoyable dinner here with a large party, the only drawback was the noise level which could only be described as crazy loud. We left hoarse after hours of shout talking to each other and resorted to TXT'ing the other end of the table if anything was needed! Temporary deafness aside, our dinner and drinks were very good. I had the paella and sampled the fish tacos. Service did suffer some confusion with such a full house but got the job done with a smile. They even split our checks, man I love the South. There are 2 locations in Atlanta.

  • Peter K.

Latin American restaurant with GREAT service. Their salsa is super fresh and comes with cilantro, just the way I like it. I ordered two steak tacos and the steak was marinated well and didn't make the soft tacos soggy. Also, it came with a boat load of rice and beans for just about $8 (no drink). But that combined with the chips and salsa were more than enough to fill me up for two meals. In addition, their waiters do an amazing job of filling drinks, catering to large tables, and making sure food comes out fast. It's definitely a place to go to and try!

  • net d.

Mediocre.. I had the lobster tacos with rice/ beans. Nothing special at all, the lobster (not certain it was lobster) was soft and bland. Rice & beans tasted like can food. I will end this by saying your better off at Moes. Bland commercial Mexican at it's worst.

  • Kimberly H.

Hidden gem!! Went to this place for the first time a few weeks ago. I had the empanadas and the carnitas dinner! Yummy!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the food arrived a little late but overall it was a good experience. I'll be back!:)

    (4)
  • Elizabeth L.

It was my family's first time there this week and although we did not have a bad experience, we did not have a "wow" experience either. The atmosphere looked like it had potential to be fun and beachy, but there were too many decorations thrown together and it felt loud and congested-there was a lot going on there. The food prices were good but the food seemed a little inconsistent. My seafood paella was good though a tad fishier than preferred. The kids steak burrito was good, but then the ropa vieja was a little too watery and somewhat bland. I'm giving it 3 stars now but I'm not gonna give up, I feel like it can be better and I'm definitely gonna go back and see if I'm right!

Friendly staff, nice ambience and of course good food. That's the speciality of this restaurant. Very nice place. Been there thrice in couple of months, every time I go there I feel really good about being there. The food smells and tastes good, above all it's presented in a very appetizing way. Kudos to the Armando's team.

Had an OK experience. After leaving a complaint online about a few things, the owner Armondo did call to apologize and offered to make things right at our next visit. Understandably not all customers will have the perfect experience so we will give them another try in the future. I appreciate the phone call and concern by Armondo.

This is my mom's all time favorite place. I know she isn't tech savy enough to write a review, but she comes at least once a week for her "me time". I also quite like the food, and the staff is super friendly.

Consistently good food, good drinks, and great service run by good people. Been a long time customer and bring all out of towners here. My brother says the lobster enchiladas are the greatest thing he has ever eaten, and has traveled all over the country. My Los Angeles friends loved the sangria margaritas. The enchiladas are a work of art just to look at! Arroz con pollo is amazing. Portions are large so don't fill up on beer and chips like I do because then you will have to take home a doggie bag for snacking later. Ok, do that.

I passed by Armando's all the time and never went in to try it. First time eating here and it was very good. The queso was flavorful and it was not runny like at other places. I really liked the salsa that came with the chips. Great taste to it. I had the Chorizo Cubano and really liked it. The beans and rice we had as a side were ok. Mix them together and it is much better. The service was good and it seemed like a good teamwork atmosphere. We didn't wait too long for our orders and when the arrived they were exactly what we ordered. Our drinks were refilled in a good timely manner and we never had plates sitting there for a long time ready to be bussed. We asked for the check and a box and got both very quickly. Everything was processed nicely. All in all we had a great experience here. I was happy with our selection for lunch. I would definitely give this place a try.

I'm surprised and slightly disappointed at myself for not review this place. My parents are in love with this restaurant and it's only a short drive from our house. Located in a small strip mall, Armando's definitely fulfills that "don't judge a book by its cover" look for a small non-chain restaurant. Their atmosphere is decorated with your typical cheesy tex-mex attire mixed in with some Spanish music, and two big screen TV's usually turned onto soccer or some sort of sport. It's a strange "On the Border" meets "Taco Mac", and the staff is usually friendly. They get strangely busy, the last time I was there it was a torrential downpour (as per usual of Georgia) and there must have been 9 or 10 different tables being seated. I'll explain why. Unlike the big chain restaurants like "On the Border" and "Taco Mac" this small restaurant packs a punch with its food by serving traditional Tex Mex food with a bit of a different twist. I've had numerous things on their menu including their Paella, Tuna and Tilapia Tacos, Shrimp and Spinach Quesadilla, and Tuna Steak (Hey, I said I came here often). I will tell you not once was I disappointed in their service or cooking. Their tuna and tilapia are excellently seared with a nice light tangy cream sauce and cabbage on a flour tortilla. Even their salsa served free is relatively well made. Friendly service and it's at a relatively reasonable price, I'm sure I, and my parents, will continue to go to this restaurant singing its praise. It's a bit out of the way, and is awkwardly located on the end of a strip mall but if you're in Johns Creek and feel like some Mexican, don't look towards the standard and try out this small business for a change.

I love this place. They gave me a free mango juice which now Im hooked. I had the pollo con arroz and then the next day I came for the beef enchiladas. I give this place a 10. They wait staff was so very friendly and the food was VERY fresh tasting. The queso and guac was delicious and creamy. the flan was good, the apple empanada was just okay. I will soon become a regular. Adios

Any place with worth its weight in food gets five stars, in my opinion. The Cuban sandwich selection is top notch with high quality Texas margaritas and fresh salsa. The service is not the reason to try Armando's, but the food and convenient Duluth location more than make this a regular inclusion in our restaurant life.

I was excited to take the bf here at lunch for lobster tacos on a recent work from home day. I'd hyped them up to him more than the world hyped up Forrest Gump before I saw it. I don't know what happened, but these were NOT the same lobster tacos I had the first time. These were made with fake lobster. I have heard of Krab, but never fake lobster. WTF?! He laughed at my choice for lunch for at least 2 days. I must redeem myself.

Have been here a couple of times, but I am just now getting around to review it. The past couple of times we have been to Armando's has been with groups of over 20+ people. They are very accommodating to large groups who arrive without prior notification and even separate the checks for us. As far as the service, they are quick with the drinks and free chips/salsa. The salsa is pretty standard in my opinion. First time I went, I ordered the Paella with chicken, sausage, and seafood. It was too moist for my taste, but it had great flavor. When I went yesterday, I ordered the Pollo a la Parilla, and this dish is MONEY! The chicken wasn't overcooked and very juicy, and the seasoning they had on it was spot on.

  • Febe P.

First time trying this spot yesterday with my boyfriend and the service was exceptional! We got the empanadas Cubanas, maduros, arroz con pollo, and chicken fajitas and they were all soooo good! The food was definitely worth the price and the plates are generously portioned. The atmosphere was also welcoming and fun. We sat on the patio before the sun set and the view was gorgeous. We would definitely make the hour drive to eat Armando's again when we crave it. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone !

  • Lori A.

My husband and I stopped in on a whim, and I look forward to returning. It was late afternoon and too early for dinner, so we just split the lobster taco and a half-pitcher of the Texas margarita. Both were excellent. They serve chips and salsa to start, and their chips are too thick for my liking, and the salsa was blah. But the menu looked fabulous, and the food we ordered was quite good. I will be back for sure. The ambiance is confused. It's Caribbean or Jimmy Buffett or Latin American all combined. Even though we were leaving the restaurant at about 6 on a Saturday, it was pretty dead, so I'm not sure what kind of crowd they draw.

Had lunch there today. Excellent chicken soup and Cuban Ruben sandwich. Great service. A nice little Havana in Duluth, GA.

There is nothing really wrong with this place. The whole experience is really just fair. Not so great ,yet not so bad either. I can not find any thing I love on the menu. My friends keep dragging me here because they love the place. But not me so much. Tonight I had the chicken enchalades. The best part of the dinner is always the blackbeans and the rice. I may just start only ordering 2 sides and no entree. And yes, it is crazy loud. Hard to have a conversation.

My friends and I went on a Saturday night. It was packed but we were able to get a table. The service was awesome! I had the lobster tacos, very good! I also had a mojito. It was good but not as good as the drink the server recommended. Please forgive me as I can't remember the name of it. One of my friends had a margarita and said it was good. Bottom line everything that we ordered was good. There were no complaints!

We ate lunch here on Wednesday. Both had Cuban sandwiches which were very good. They served salsa and chips. The salsa was excellent, as was their home made Sangria. We use to eat in Cuban rest. In Florida and this was almost as good as their best. Serve was very good too. We will bring Dave and Jill back too

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Obsessed with their chicken tacos and I add jalapenos to it! YUM! Margaritas are fabulous! Fish tacos are also awesome! The staff is so nice! They remember your name after a few times being here!

I just love this place. Have been here several times usually with a large group of parents and kids which are always easily accommodated. I don't have a lot to speak from regarding the menu because I always get the same thing because it is just so perfect. Love the Ensalada de Mango. So fresh. Came here recently with just my family and struck up great conversations with the staff. Be prepared to drink at least one shot of tequila because the waiter would not rest until I tried it! Everybody in my family finds something they like here.

I have been to Armando's and the food was mediocre. I went yesterday and actually ate more of my other half's meal than my own. He got the carnitas plate and the meat was soooooo damned tender...I could have fed it to a toothless baby! It was perfectly marinated in cola and was not over cooked...I had a mouth-gasm! My BF was like, "Well, damn, how about you eat your own meal...!" I couldnt help myself...it was that good. NOW that you've had the good, the ugly is that his beans were dry and almost paste like...mine were moist and in the black bean sauce the way it's supposed to be. The rice has a slightly sweet taste and the beans (if spiced right that day) balance them out nicely. The tuna steak is not bad eitther...not a whole lot of food, but the perfect portion for a lunch meal. ...just my two cents!

I've been here at least 50 times. Great service, best salsa in Atlanta!! EVERYTHING on the menu is A++++. They don't skimp on the alcohol in the beverages either.

We came here during lunch so I didn't have a chance to try the margaritas. They were very attentive to our large party and quickly replenished our chips and drinks. FOOD: We started with the complimentary chips and salsa which were good. I had the steak tacos with the jalapeno sauce on the side. Very good. The two tacos with the plentiful of rice and black beans were very filling. I also had their lobster tacos which were full of lobster meat, fried peppers, and grilled onions. The Jamaican sauce that I asked for on the side was a little sweet for my taste. Also a great choice. Had I read the other yelpers' reviews I would've tried the paella.

Great Cuban Mex.... Salsa is fantastic though I would prefer thinner chips. The Steak Tacos with the Jalapeno cream sauce are fantastic as is the Roasted Chicken (Pollo) and rice served in a cast iron skillet.

This place is money. I go here a couple times a month. never been disappointed. The service is top notch -- I travel all over, and regularly go to business dinners at places 10x the price of this place, and Armando's service competes with every place I've ever been. Went one time for lunch, and it was a tad below dinner quality - still delicious. Pro tip: sangria margarita is amazing. seriously, get this.. now. Dishes you can't go wrong with: Pollo a la Parrilla (half a friend chicken with amazing seasoning -- enough food for two people). Paella de Mariscos (love at first bite -- they pretty much mix everything in a bowl, and I love it) Steak or Chicken tacos (one of my favs -- the jalapeno sauce they put on these is really good) Beef Burrito (my other fav -- this isn't your ordinary burrito. give it a try, you'll love it)

Yup it is well worth the five stars. Try the Paella or Tilapia Burrito. Generous portions, friendly staff, good food, reasonable prices.

I really don't get how anyone can have a bad experience here. The waitstaff is so obliging that if you even lifted an eyebrow at something they served they would be off in a flash to make it right. If I ever see a less than stellar review of the place, I kind of take it personally. Ok I'll summer donna. I can't compare their paella to paella in Barcelona or their Bistec Cubano to the whole in the wall place in Little Havana, but this is Gwinnett County and this place is consistently good in all areas. If you frequent this place regularly, they throw in some freebies.....it is the little things.

Decent spot that suffers a bit from multiple personality disorder. It try's to be Mexican, Cuban, and Caribbean. It's not spectacular or terrible at any of them. It's also worth noting that the service was nice and attentive. However, I don't know that I'd go back though because there are many other good options in the area.

This place is as good as La Fonda. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo and it was good but a little salty. The price is about $3 more than La Fonda. I think overall, it is good and I would come back, especially since it is down the street from my home. But given the choice, I would go to La Fonda over this place. The service is ok here. You just have to ask and they will come.

This place makes me feel like Im in the caribbean. the staff is super friendly and the man is so funny! They have really good prices on the food. I have tried the Tilapia burrito. It was pretty good, but a bit sweet for a burrito, well at least for me. A friend had their shrimp and spinach quesadilla and that was just phenomenal. A great spot and good food! :)

Love It! So good and the staff is amazing. The Guacamole and Salsa are so fresh and almost impossible to put down. I almost filled up on chips which I try not to do since it is just filler. Our table was filled with Sangria Margaritas and Dos Equis pitchers. When the food came out we cleared space and took a quiet pause before diving in. I ordered the Bistec (Steak) Quesadilla and the wife had the Chicken Soup. Both meals were amazing. Around the table there were steak fajitas, lobster tacos, chicken burritos, and fish tacos. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and left with a very full stomach. The owner checked in on us to make sure we were well taken care and we were. This was my second visit and I can't wait to go back.

I've been coming to this place for 5 years and finally stopped being lazy and sat down to write a review. The food here is amazing! The flavors are robust and the ingredients are fresh. The owner "Armando" is usually there to greet you and his wait staff is very attentive. I highly recommend the lobster tacos and some guacamole and chips to kick things off.

Love Armando's! My family frequents Armanod's any time we want a Cuban fix. Our favorite is their paella. Particularly the Paella de Mariscos is very good with succulent sea food, rice and chicken. My daughter loves their Traditional Cubano Cuban sandwich. I've also had their chorizo quesadilla which is spicy! Oh, yeah, their margarita's aren't too shabby either! The waiters are always laid back and definitely do not rush you. They are very conscientious in keeping you in drinks (yea!). In fact, I've always had to ask for the check when we're ready to leave. A great choice for an easy, relaxing meal. Far superior to "cheap Mexican" when your in the mood.

Armando's came highly recommended as a place to go while we are in Duluth, GA. The service was good; very friendly. However, I find that my black beans and rice could have tasted a bit better. Otherwise the rest of my meal was okay.

If you like La Fonda Latina ( one of my ATL faves) you'll enjoy Armando's. Had the arroz con pollo which was so flavorful. The pork chops were really juicy and tender as well. Service is a little confusing bc you don't have a set server so random servers are coming by your table, but they are quite entertaining.

This is an interesting restaurant to review, not quite Cuban, not quite Mexican, but quite good! If you are looking for traditional Cuban, or Speedy Gonzalez #3 lunch specials, this isn't it. I have been to this restaurant many times, with many friends, and have never had a bad experience. Upon arriving you will get chips and salsa quickly brought to your table. The chips are not usual fare, crunchier and thicker, tasty. The salsa is always fresh, mild but flavorful. Many traditional Latin side dishes such as maduros, tostones, and yuca are offered up front as appetizers, along with the usual Mexican style apps such as queso dip and guacamole. All are good, priced a little high for the offering ($7-$10) but enough to share. The menu is an eclectic mix of Cuban, Mexican, Spanish, and imagination, but everything on the menu makes sense. The paellas are plentiful, and can be shared, the "for two" is enough for three or more. There are four paella options, including a vegetarian version. There are several very good sandwiches offered, including traditional Cuban, Media Noche, a Veggie Cubano and a Ruban Cuban. Sandwiches are all served with black beans and yellow rice, making a great lunch. Beers on tap, great margaritas. The service here is excellent. The waiters don't engage you in conversation, they are just very attentive to the table, even when busy. Music is lively Salsa, the mood is casual, but with a hint of something classy that lets you forgive the slightly overpriced menu. The environment is fun for first date, perfect for business, and great for a family or group of friends. Overall a great place for great food, great service, great atmosphere. In the sea of concrete that is Peachtree Industrial Blvd is the island of Armando's, a great little escape from the ordinary!

Best restaraunt in Duluth! I had my wedding reception on their front patio last year. Armando's has the Best food, Best service, and they really care about their patrons! The entire wait staff takes the time to remember your likes & dislikes, simply put they go the extra mile! If you are going out to eat in Duluth for lunch or dinner, go to them. Try their Bistec Cubano cuban sandwhich on flatbread, it's my favorite get it everytime! Affordable too!

Arrrrrmandos!! They have realllly good foood, and I reeeaaallllly like to gooooo to Arrrrrmandoooossss!!!! But the service can be weird. A lot of times, four different people will be serving us. And it seems like none of them have a clue what is going on, either. Sometimes, they just stop coming. Last night, a guy took my credit card, and just didn't bring it back. I had to go ask what happened. That kind of stuff always happens, which is weird. But everything else is good.

The first time I came here it was pretty good -- lobster tacos were tasty, drinks good, chips and salsa a bit dull. But when I came back for lunch a couple weeks ago, I wasn't thrilled with either the food or the service. I was going to order fish tacos, but the waiter talked me in to their seafood special of the day. $17 for lunch?? If he's going to push it on me, which he did, he really should've warned me about the price. And, it was just so-so... prob trying to get rid of day-old fish.

I have never EVER EVER had a bad time here and I do mean EVER! I used to work a few miles away and was introduced to Armando's by some co-workers it turned into our Friday lunch spot. It also turned into our weekend after work spot many a night when we would eat far to much and drink more than any human should ever drink. The margaritas are heavenly. The lobster tacos are even better.

If you're looking for dependable good Latin cuisine around the Duluth area this is your spot. The plantains were exceptional. The rest of the food was A-OK- if I'm craving plantains at any point I now know where to go!

Service was great, but the food wasn't so great. We ordered the chicken/beef empanadas and they were way too salty. I read previous reviews and saw that the arroz con pollo was a good dish so I ordered that and I was disappointed! Do they just dump the salt over everything? Yuck. We also ordered the lobster taco and I thought the sauce was too sweet. Guess I won't be going back.

What the. I thought this place was called a-r-N-a-n-d-o-s. Whoa. It's pretty difficult to use hyphens. Or maybe it's the MSG taking over my brain. Anyway. I ordered arroz con pollo. HUGE portion! I almost couldn't finish it. Almost. Guacamole was fresh and good. Thin chips... I like thick chips so I can scoop up a whole bunch of salsa and/or guacamole. My friends ordered the tilapia burrito and... some kind of tacos. I forget. They liked their food. I liked my food. We made fun of the parrot decorations. The end.

I love this place for lunch. Nice mix of latin food on the menu including some more traditional mexican dishes for anyone less adventurous. I don't like their chips that much, but everything else has always been good, including the fish tacos, salmon burrito and arroz con pollo.

It was just ok. Food was pretty good, but a bit pricey and portions were small. As mentioned, salsa was very good. Ambiance was lacking and service was a bit below average. This is one of those places that you try once and think, eh, it was ok, but I doubt that I'll come back.

Awesome. Authenic carib food. The staff are super nice and friendly. Good drinks too. Dress casual. Affordable pricing. No white table cloths here, but laid back and comfy instead. Never had a bad meal or experience. I have no complaints. Carry out available too. I recommend it.

My husband and I always pass this on our way to various other places, and so we finally decided to try it. It was pretty quiet when we went, but it was a weeknight. The atmosphere seemed nice--it looked clean, the servers were attentive. I had the paella, he had tacos. We both had the guacamole. He said his tacos were okay. I ate almost all of my paella--and that says something, because I can rarely eat almost ALL of a paella. The guacamole was...guacamole: an avocado with some stuff in it. Who doesn't like guacamole? (besides those odd people with an aversion to avocado) I'll go back.

Situated in a sparse strip shop near the intersection of Abbotts Bridge Road (Highway 120) and Peachtree Industrial Blvd. is Armando's Caribe. The decor is a bit Caribbean meets Mexican restaurant. The lights are multicolored and the ceiling is the basic structure of the building and is all black. They do have around 6-8 booths against one wall with the rest being tables (I believe there are 2-3 large tables for larger groups). There is also patio seating. The menu is Caribbean meets Mexican. You are started off with chips and salsa. The salsa just tastes fresh, fresher than many of the other local Mexican restaurants. They have the standard cheese dip that you can get as well, however be warned that the jalapeno cheese dip can be a bit full of jalapenos since they add it in to the regular. They have tacos, burritos, and quesadillas which are filled with many different things such as steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, and fish. A personal favorite is the Tuna Tacos. They also have an assortment of Cuban sandwiches, all of which are delicious. They have paella, as well as steak and fish. Their carnitas are delicious too. All of their "platters" come with a side of rice and black beans (more like half a plate of rice and beans). For a dollar upcharge you can get a side of crispy fried plantains (tostones) or sweet plantains (maduros). We've have been going here since it opened and have yet to have a bad meal. They do pour their margaritas fairly strong so watch out. The only downside is that it can be a bit busy and loud. They have lunch specials (different each day, look at the flip card on the table) and during lunch they can be busy as is the case with all of the Duluth restaurants. The typical dinner rush is expected. If the place is full and/or the big tables have large groups (parents with children running around) it can be a bit loud. But that is honestly the only downside we have ever experienced.

Delicious food for mexican lovers who don' want exactly mexican food. It is a lot like La Fonda's in Atlanta. The salsa is fresh, free, and awesome. I've had the arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) and a variety of sandwiches with no disappointments. The portions are often big enough to share. The atmosphere is nice at night, but loses something at lunch in full light as the decor is a little sparse. The staff is great.

I feel conspicuous in my 'stars' ranking after reading the rave reviews. Hey, the reason I came here was because of the lipsmacking descriptions. The item that caught my eye the most was the presence of Paellas of various types. Now, I am a paella stoking fool, and capable of making a bon gusto Brazilian variety myself. It was with considerable aplomb that we entered, surveyed the surroundings and menu, and ordered, Cuban Sandwich for Mrs. and Paella Valenciana for me. Pre-meal salsa and chips were alright. The sandwich was just OK, without the crispy bread normally expected for this dish. The Paella was slightly dry, not flavored with enough saffron and garlic, had one small chicken thigh in its midst, exactly 7 shrimp, five small pieces of calamari, and some strips of onion and peppers. It was supposed to have been cooked in clam broth, but the flavor note for that was absent as well. I only ate half of it. Can't say I'll go back after this experience.

My Boyfriend and I went here just the other night. We both enjoyed it . I said if the Chips and salsa start off good then the rest of the food should taste even better. We ordered a pitcher of Margaritas and paello de mariscos, sat on the patio and enjoyed life. My boyfriend liked it so much that he wants to try and re create it in the kitchen. I definietely enjoyed my first experience at Armandos and plan on re visiting in the future.

I love Latin food and had heard good things about Armando's, at least of the Alpharetta location. I thought it was good food but I wasn't particularly impressed. I prefer La Fonda's to this. I was in a fussy mood though, so that may have had something to do with it. Since the other reviews are so great, I've decided I'm going back to give it another whirl. Maybe I went on an off night. I'll update if I find anything different.

My whole family loves Armando's. Maybe it is getting the same waiter every time so he knows us and smiles when we come in. Maybe it is the cheese dip. For me it is the fish tacos. The sauce is wonderful and the fish is always perfect. But my secret is to substitute the house salad for the beans and rice. You have to try it - I will not ruin the surprise but when it arrives you will wonder if you are still sitting in a strip center in Duluth. Family favorites: The salsa - Best in Atlanta Cheese Dip with or without Jalapenos Fish Tacos Chorizo Sandwich Cuban Sandwich Maduros Tostones Music on Sunday Nights Enjoy

my husband and i wanted to go out for Cinco de Mayo so i looked on yelp and this place had pretty good reviews. we also wanted to stay fairly close to home since it was a weeknight. the first thing that was sort of turnoff but not a surprise is that it is located in a strip mall. now, that isn't unusual for the area we live in and normally it wouldn't be that big of a deal but the strip mall wasn't really booming with business. half of the spaces were empty and the ones that were occupied are totally random businesses. i guess you can't fault the restaurant for that but it's not in a very appealing location. we decided to sit outside since there was one table left out there. our waitress came right over with chips and salsa and took our drink order for margaritas. she brought them out pretty quickly along with the small queso dip i ordered. chips were sort of hard and the salsa didn't really have any zing to it so i didn't really eat much. the queso was just standard queso. i ordered 2 tacos, one carnitas and one steak, it came with black beans and yellow rice. the beans and rice were a pleasant surprise because i expected the standard refried with Spanish rice which can sometimes leave you feeling heavy. the tacos were really good. i preferred the steak over the carnitas because it had a creamy jalapeno sauce on it. so this place really wasn't true Mexican food but i don't think it claims to be, sort of Tex-Mex with a Caribbean flare i guess? the service lacked towards the end of our meal, we had to flag down someone for our check because our waitress never came back to our table. it seemed they were understaffed or something because i could see her inside busy with other tables. i don't think i would visit here again because the location and the atmosphere isn't very festive. it's a shame because the food wasn't really all that bad. we will continue our search for good Mexican food in Georgia. wish us luck!!

Armando's was the first place I ate when I moved to Duluth. I was used to the fast, cheap, microwave version of Latin food from living in Athens and was pleasantly surprised when I sat down at Armando's and saw that my salsa was freshly made. I have never had anything bad at this restaurant. The lobster tacos, the beef burrito, the churizo, the paella's... all very delicious. Also I must say that I am very fond of the wait staff as well. They are always very friendly and accommodating regardless if it is just me and my boyfriend or me and 10 of my closes friends.

We had Paella Valenciana for two and it was excellent. Lots of seafood and the chicken was so tender. Also had a margarita which was good. Loved their salsa too. Will definitely go back again.

So good. After devouring the chips and delicious salsa, I moved on to the plantains. Also excellent, and they have a small size for those dining alone. The pork & mango salad was great - the grilled pork was lean and flavorful, and I loved that all of the dressings came on the side by default. Next time I definitely want to try the paella - still, it made my night!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
