Can't beat the lunch special $3.99, and the portions are huge! Usually order the curry goat. The food is tasty 99% of the time. Great customer service. Decor is a little dated, but feels like a small restaurant in Jamaica. (441/Oakland) There are 3 locations along Oakland with 3 different decor.

Best portions in town. The have a great lunch special and I especially like the breakfast there. The corn meal porridge, the fried fish and also the fried dumplings are ridiculously awesome!!! Definitely not a place to go if you are counting calories. Then the lunch special brown stew chicken curry chicken or even the oxtail Mmm Mmm Mmm.... GOOD!!!!

I went on a Saturday morning around 8:45 a.m. I ordered saltfish and ackee ( $10) 2 aloe drinks and 1 carrot juice ( $3.30 each). My favorite was the juices. The salftish and ackee was okay but nothing stellar and the portion was tiny...you get a lot of banana and dumpling instead. In addition, the banana needed a little more cooking. After paying for my food the lady went in the back and I wanted hot sauce on my food and couldn't find it :-( Total $21.09

I recently bought oxtail, rice & peas from the lauderdale location (across from walmart @ 411) the oxtail had too much fat on it & the gravy was red like they uses ketchup. The rice & peas had no taste, in all i was pissed when my friend came bk with my meal. I had to go to golden krust in tamarac yummm

Love the food at Carl's. Especially the lunch specials. Curry Goat with white rice is my favorite. Bu the Curry Chicken is also delicious with white rice or rice their delicious rice and peas. I am also loving the portion for the price.Carl's does feed you and you'll never complain you did not get what you paid for. Staff I find is very friendly and welcoming. Only hate the crowd for lunch which can be really big from time to time. So get there early and save yourself some time, hassle and the crowd. Have still to try the Oxtail and Fry Fish but am sure they are both just as delicious as the rest.

I usually get the oxtail with the white rice. They are very generous with their portions and the gravy is to die for!
