Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
We love the bar bites and pub style appetizers. The food is overall good and it's a fun environment when you EAT AT THE BAR AREA. Everywhere else is super slow. They seat you and advise the waiters will be right with you; lie. Then you order drinks.....takes forever to arrive. Appetizers come at the time of your food. When you search for your waiter, there are a ton.....walking around, in the back, very busy 'looking' but they don't ever come check on you or bring you anything. So; eat at the bar area, and you will be fine. Price is good and again, food is good.

I am not even sure what in the world happened at this place. I came here to meet a few old coworkers for lunch. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and the brew pub pretzels and beer cheese dip. Both were good. For lunch, I ordered the grilled cheese and side salad. The grilled cheese was okay. It was a lot of bread and little cheese though. The two stars is directed at the service. I feel like the waitress was standing in front of us, but her mind was in a different place. One of the people in our party ordered the BLT. He asked if the lettuce was shredded or leafed. She said shredded; therefore, he asked to leave that off. He then wanted whole wheat or rye bread. When he received his plate of food, there was no bread. NO BREAD for his sandwich order. He ate it anyway. One of the other people at the table ordered the same thing. The lettuce was leafed and she received bread with her sandwich. At the end, he asked the waitress why she did not give him any bread. She said well you asked for whole wheat or rye, and we don't have either. He responded, "So you decided to give me no bread for my sandwich?" She just apologized. The whole experience was just weird.

Used to be good. Much too slow with kitchen now. Don't recommend. Appetizer came out pretty fast but it took over 40 minutes to get lunch.

This is the latest in the chain--it is hidden in a nondescript shopping center in a building with other businesses and it is hard to distinguish it. We did the 2-4-$20 dinner--had the chicken fingers for an appetizer--tasted like Tabasco sauce was sprinkled on top of after just before serving. My friend had the 7 ounce steak with a baked potato--I had the chicken with penne--chicken was cold. The service was fine--there is nothing that makes this different from, no better or worse, than TGI Friday's or Ruby Tuesday's or any similar chain--doubt if I'll go back.

This place sucks. No reason why I can't get one refill in a 45 minute refill and the place is empty. Definitely not coming back. Stay away and if you do go don't sit at the booths by the bar.

Came here after dropping a friend off being it was close in the area. My first mind told me not to go here since we were headed to las olas. We go inside anyway & to my surprise the place has been remodeled so ok this is a good sign so far. We sat at the bar high tops & our server Jessica came over. She was sweet & friendly. We knew what we wanted so we ordered the trio sampler ( spinach dip, steak towers and BBQ boneless wings) for drinks we got the sangria margaritas. The drinks took about 10 minutes to come out which would've been fine if it was busy, but it was because the bartender was so engaged in the conversation she was having with a customer it delayed the time. The drinks were decent so no complaints. Out comes the trio & it looked fine so far. After having a few bites of the spinach dip I discovered something hard in my mouth. I pull out a long thick piece of plastic & I was fuming but kept my cool. As I'm pulling it out my mouth our server comes over and ask how are things going. I told her what just happened and she was speechless... it must've taken her a full minute to even apologize. She went and got the manager who soon came over and apologized asked if I was ok. He offered us drinks.... no thanks!!! I told him just bring the bill! The bill came & he took off the trio sampler. The tab is now $17 and change for the two drinks. For some reason I thought we were supposed to get two for one drinks but I guess the ones we ordered weren't on that menu. I gave this place a one because I can't give it a negative. Anywho I would never step a foot in this place again, even if it was for free! NO THANKS!

Went here today. The service was just so so at best. The chicken tenders tasted and looked like they were the kind you buy at the store not ones that are made fresh. Also the fries were over cooked don't think I'll go back anytime soon if at all.

Back for a 3rd time (because my dad loves the place and its close to his home). I had the shrimp and chicken tenders that came with fresh green beans(it has a tangy sauce which I loved). The frozen lemonade is great the food was delicious and fresh and our server britt was sweet as can be, becca was manning the hostess station that night(i said hi to her). I am sure we will be back...
Not too shabby Applebee's. Came with co-workers for lunch today. They've updated their menu recently and have a lot of very interesting new menu items. We tried the spinach dip as a starter which, to be honest, wasn't that great. It was little watery and the chips weren't that fresh. I like that they have the 1/2 salad/soup/sandwich option for lunch. Gives you an opportunity to try more than one thing at a reasonable price. I had the 1/2 Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad and 1/2 Clubhouse Grill sandwich on ciabatta. Holy wow! Both were absolutely delicious! The Fiesta Chicken salad was surprisingly spicy. Usually I take the little pepper indicators on chain restaurant menu's with a grain of salt but this was definitely a surprise. I'm not sure I could eat the entire dinner salad size because the half was definitely a kick in the mouth! I would highly recommend the Clubhouse Grill sandwich as well. It comes on different bread but I prefer the ciabatta if it's available. It was a little messy to eat but totally worth it. Both 1/2 servings were way plenty for a lunch portion. (Side note: I tried a co-workers side of cucumbers that they add to the larger meal portions! Beware of these cucumbers! They are WICKED SPICY! Don't say I didn't warn you!) The wait staff was very friendly and attentive; I wish the food service was a little faster since it was lunchtime but I would prefer to have good hot food and be late back to work. Planning to come back for lunch on another occasion and try some more new menu items!

This is a typical Applebee's nothing special, but nothing objectionable, either. I've been here a couple of times for snacks and drinks with friends. This location is newly remodeled, so is totally spiffy, inside and out. The colors are warmer than they used to be and there are supposed to be some new things on the menu. The service was friendly and fairly fast. They have a two for one happy hour all day, but the choices are limited to three drinks. I've always heard about "Long Island iced tea," so thought I would try it. I was pretty disappointed to find out that it was just a mix poured over ice. It tasted like lemonade, and didn't have enough alcohol to even notice. We decided to split one of the appetizers, so we got the brew pub pretzels and beer cheese dip. It was quite good. Four large, soft pretzel sticks and a tub of cheesy dip. I would definitely order it again. Although we didn't order entrees, both of our friends that did were disappointed with theirs. Since their overall reviews are not very good, I'm hoping they'll take note and make some improvements. We'll probably check back later and see if anything has changed.

Our family ventured to this restaurant after such a bad experience at the Cheesecake Factory. The wait was very short and our server was exceptionally knowledgeable in terms of the dishes . Upon seating we a party of 10 were eating within 15 minutes. Very fast service and food was delicious. We will definitely revisit this restaurant as it has given us a new promise to dining.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

My boyfriend and I have been to that location twice. The first time, everything went well. But tonight.... We were there for my birthday, we arrived and were standing waiting for a table for about 10 minutes, with waitresses walking back and forth, no one acknowledged us, so we took it upon ourselves, grabbed two menus and silverware and sat ourselves down. Then we waited 15mins for someone to come to our table to serve us... When they finally came, they took our drink orders, brought out my drink and forgot my boyfriend's. Our appetizer took forever to come, the table next to us arrived almost 30mins after us, and their appetizer came out the same time ours did. Then we ordered two sirloin entrées, WELL DONE. The meat was terrible, uncooked! I sent my food back and they cooked it a bit more, but it was still raw. My boyfriend did not want to bother asking for them to cook his food more, so he basically left half of his sirloin on his plate!! When I told the waitress that his sirloin wasn't cooked well, she "apologized" in her own little way. We will not be coming back to that location and I hope they find better people to work there.
