An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Well I really enjoy giving great reviews, but this may not be the best review. The place is a bit run down and the view we had of the kitchen showed that the cleaning is lacking. The lady that wrote many hats was great and pleasant. It took about 20 minutes to get or food. The Spanish rice was a bit bland, the refried beans were tasteful and Carne was good. It is a good mom and pop place though. Being from California I expected more.

I eat here at least once a week and my favorite dish is, the taco plate (beef) with rice & beans. You get 3 well portioned tacos, soft or hard with refried or black beans and yellow rice. Flavorful and well seasoned.

I gave it five stars because of the value for the fresh food. At lunch I have water and their special and it costs $8.50. The last time it was complimentary fresh chips and salsa. Then they have the BEST tortilla soup. Next the entree was a taco and large tamale with refried beans and rice. Good stuff! The atmosphere is very simple but the wait staff is nice and the owner works hard in the kitchen.

Friendly service and a little hole in the wall, which is fine with me. Steak quesadilla was overpriced (I think it was almost $11) and was one tortilla (so, really half a quesadilla) with not much filling, a tiny scoop of guacamole and sour cream, a spattering of pico de gallo, some rice and refried beans. Chips and salsa were tasty but the cup the salsa comes in is too small, making it almost impossible to dip the chips inside the cup.

This was my first time to have Mexican food in Florida, and my standards are pretty high since I've had some of the best in California. But I was definitely impressed with this place. I ordered a quesadilla that came with sour cream and guacamole. The guac was so fresh! The salsa and chips were pretty good too. My dad ordered the chicken chimichanga (which was also delicious) I will forsure come back if I take another trip to Sarasota/Bradenton.

So I was a bit let down. Coming from California I had high expectations for a place like this. It has the whole in the wall type of authentic feeling which is great! The service was good, however a bit understaffed. The food was NOT bad, it just wasn't good. I got a steak burrito and it just was a little plain. It wasn't that I couldn't eat it or enjoy it... But it just was... For lack of a better word.... Ehh. The salsa was fine, it could have used a bit more flavor (are you noticing a theme here) but was very edible. My wife's bean burrito was everything you could expect from a bean burrito (kinda hard to mess that one up). So it gets four stars.. Because I'd go there again... But not if I find something better.

I had the chicken, salad, and ceviche for an appetizer on Saturday. The owner/chef if from Peru. PHENOMINAL food! They serve Mexican and Peruvian cuisine. I'll be going back next week.

The best, most authentic (seemingly) Mexican food in Sarasota. Laid back environment, appears to be family owned, friendly service and amazing food! If you prefer a turn and burn attitude served up on fiestaware, you might try some of the crap Mexican food that's everywhere around here. But if you want a meal that makes you crave it again two days later, this is the place!

This was some great Mexican food! It was very fresh. If you're more concerned about good food than ambience, this is the place. It's clean but small.

Beans can? Early Alvarez.decent Tex Mex. Good salsa, cumin? Laage portions, not bad, Modelo negra Two Amigos is not a bad place overall, but there better ones out there. First the good, which is plenty. The service was super friendly, always a plus. Had Negra Modelo which is important in a Mexican restaurant. The salsa was very good, I believe it had a hint of cumin in it. The portions were large also, so go hungry. Now the bad. The food seemed too ordinary, nothing really stood out. The refried beans tasted like they were from a can. While the restaurant wasn't dirty, it was drab and dingy inside. Too many better choices out there. I wouldn't refuse to go, they are very nice people, but I wouldn't suggest it first.

We ordered a to go for three which was very reasonablly priced and we couldn't wait to get it and bring it home to eat ONLY TO BE VERY DISAPPOINTED. They do NOT give you chips, unless you eat in otherwise $5.00. The fijitas for $11.95 do not come with rice or beans BUT they do give you three 6' tortillas, The burritto was small and nothing special.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and years. The food is consistently good and they have the best salsa I've had anywhere, hands down. I've lived in Texas and California and have never had salsa this good anyplace else. The owner and staff are very nice and friendly. The location isn't that great, but they do have parking and a door in the back. It is quiet and not filled with tv's and loud music like a lot of other restaurants. Try it, you'll like it!

Two Amigos was a great place where we had a wonderful mexican meal. Weloved the salsa and fresh guacamole with yummy crispy salty chips. Our entrees came out of the kitchen and looked so healthy. We ordered black beans instead of the refried. They skipped all the gloppy cheese spread all over your plate like u see in most mexican restaurants. We had vegatarian quesadilla, chiili rellano and crispy tacos. We will definitely be back.

Everything seemed overpriced. The food was not very hot and didn't come as ordered. Ambiance was severely lacking. Told the waitress about getting the food wrong but wasn't even offered an apology. Will not be back.

If you want great Mexican food,this is the place. It is not a Glitz and Glamorous chain restaurant, but go for the food. A true Hole in the Wall spot. Price is very reasonable.

All around...just a bland restaurant. Watery salsa--only saved by the heavy cilantro. I had a fried pork chop that was great, but the beans and rice were missing substantive flavor. My lady had stuffed peppers that were super boring...as did my kiddo...who had a chicken burrito. Overall, this is rather flaccid Guatemalan/Mexican grub.

A great small local place. It has been here for years and the staff is friendly and warm. Try something new, they have a great selection of different things. I love the Taco's barbacoa. Other good treast are the pollo salteada, and cane asada. Much better than the "other" mexican restaurant downtown that has the word "two" in their name. Give these people your business, you won't regret it.

I HAVE to think that this place was having the most off day in their history. The waitress seemed to have never been a server before and had more than a little trouble with English. She was SUPER sweet though, everyone seemed to be crazy overwhelmed and doing their best but plagued with problems. After a noticeable wait to get one of the many empty tables and then a longer wait to get some chips and salsa, and another long wait for drinks-and no silverware or napkins we made our order. The order took a very very long time to come up-it seemed like perhaps they'd had everyone quit or not come in that day or something. My food finally came out but Anna's took another fifteen minutes-for a quesadilla...and all the while, I had no silverware so after some forced politeness we both had food and silverware and we ate. Was the food worth the wait? Not really. Granted we both ordered gringolandia dishes-her a 'dilla and me a chimichanga but they were both underwhelming. My chimi was fair, maybe, and Anna's 'dilla was really disappointing. I always love supporting small mom and pops but sadly Anna will never go back and I'd have a hard time giving them another chance.

LOVE this place! I can't get enough. I grew up in Sarasota, and I come back here every time I visit. The owners and staff are wonderful and friendly. All of the food is amazing, especially the enchiladas. The salsa is to die for-- I wish it came in a bottle. I live in California now, and still have not had Mexican food that could hold a candle to this place. Yo quiero.
