As a Texan transplanted to Sarasota years ago, I can attest to the fact that Perry's brisket (and the rest, for that matter) is as good as or better than any that can be found in the Texas hill country, St. Louis, Memphis, Kansas, or the Carolinas. He makes a great sauce, too. My all time favorite barbeques were Sonny Bryan's in Dallas, County Line in Austin, and the Old Copeland Inn and Lockhart outside of Austin. Perry gives them all a run for their meat, er, money. So if you can't get to the promised land of Texas, find Perry here in Sarasota. He is the real deal! Hook ' em!

Now this is the best barbecue in town. Perry has consistently been killing the barbecue game for as long as I can remember. "What you know about that brisket?" He asks as I tell him what cut I want. Born in the deep South, I know a heck of a lot about brisket and his is by far the best I have ever had. The incredible barbecued meat and sauce that Perry offers is only shadowed by his larger-than-life personality. He is one of the few people that you can count on to always be smiling. His attention to detail is obvious because the meats are always juicy, and the sides are on point. He is a roadside barbecue man, but deserving of a restaurant in town to rule them all. What's the point of good barbecue if the sides don't match up to the quality.? That's right, there is no point. Pick up barbecue from Perry and you won't be disappointed. Come on, that macaroni? Fill a bathtub with that stuff and let me swim in it until my very last breath.

When we learned we were going to have far more people attending a couple's wedding shower for our daughter and her fiance', we panicked a bit...until we called Perry's Roadside BBQ for help. With less than a week to prepare, he assured us they could handle it. No problem. We ordered pulled pork, chicken and sides for 50 people and we had SO much leftover after the shower!! The portions were enormous!! Perry showed up right on time with a big smile and a hearty laugh. He got everything all set up for us and the guests were WOWED by the amazing food! Best of all, Perry left several bottles of his special BBQ sauce. Yum!! When we run out, we're definitely ordering more. And, from now on, when we need food for a crowd, we're calling our new friend. Thanks sooooo much, Perry!!!

it's hard to find good barbecue outside of large metro areas or the bbq belt of NC, Tenn and TX. This was pretty close to a true BBQ joint and it was at a stand at a farmers market. Most people claim to have great beef brisket and yet it is almost always dry...not this one. The pulled pork was tender, lightly smoked and not overly drenched in sauce. If they had a restaurant I'd go to it.

We drive by Perry's all the time when he's on Clark Road on Sundays, and finally got around to trying it. Wish we had done so sooner; this is excellent food. Their website says they're open until 5pm on Sundays, but it's really until the food runs out. If you want the full array of options, get there early. We went at 4pm and got the last of his brisket, half of the remaining chicken, and the only two sides still available - cole slaw and potato salad. Everything was fantastic. The meat was perfectly cooked and so full of flavor, and the side dishes tasted like homemade in the best possible way. I was originally disappointed we had to get potato salad, but once I tried it I couldn't stop eating it. Now I'm eager to try everything else on the menu. You should do the same.

I had Perry's BBQ at the Farmers Market and wow was it good (brisket). Generous portion for the cost too. I want more. Now.

This is real BBQ. I make my own sauce at home and I love to BBQ. So, when I don't want to fuss with the drama, I go the Perry's. The chicken is amazing, and so are the ribs. I think he only cooks on the weekends and he changes his locations (Seen him at different parking lots) This is real BBQ, not that watered down fake stuff people try to cook. He's the best in SRQ. Don't wast your money on anything else...

I was driving home after church trying to figure out what to do for lunch. While I was sitting at a stoplight, I smelled deliciousness. When I looked around, I saw Perry's set up in the parking lot at Clark and Lockwood Ridge so I quickly turned around. I brought home a sampling of pulled pork, pulled chicken and ribs. Everything was awesome, including the sides. We tried both the regular and spicy sauces and the spicy? SOOO good and it was actually spicy. If you're ever out driving around and see Perry's, do yourself a favor and stop. They also take credit cards which is another win because who has cash on them?
