Sometimes I feel stupid reviewing chains. But, since this is a local chain, and not a national one like Fridays or Chili's, I'll make an exception. And I have to admit, I would normally consider Selmons a 3.5 star restaurant, and would round up to 4 because they have one of my favorite sandwiches and its BBQ, so it should get rounded up for that alone. However, this time, the service left a little to be desired, so it's a flat 3 stars. My brother and I came, which is usually the case. However, he signed up for their email thing or frequent dining thing or some...thing...and got a free appetizer, so we went with some nachos with pork and chicken. Gotta tell ya - awesome. Some of the best nachos I've had. I then went with my old reliable, the brisket sandwich. One of the bet BBQ brisket sandwiches you can get. I will grant you, there are probably BBQ places all over the south (Fox Bros in Atlanta comes to mind) that does better BBQ brisket, but in Sarasota, you can't do better. Our issue with the service was that clearly, the server put in our appetizer and our entrees at the same time, so that the appetizer hit and then our entrees hit a minute later. When the server came by after our entrees hit, we told her we weren't ready for them. I hate sending food back, but I hate cold food more. We told her we weren't going to send them back if they were just going to sit under a heat lamp, and she assured us it wouldn't. Of course, when they came back, they had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp. So, the service was poor. She was friendly and attentive, but the timing was terrible and the entrees under a heat lamp for 10 minutes wasn't acceptable. That said, I've never had a bad service experience before this (though I also never ordered an appetizer before), so I won't kill the restaurant too much over the issue. Still, she could have done a much better job.

This review was written a few months back but never posted. It took a while to be greeted. We thought the hostess was the waitress. She didn't tell the server there was a new table. The floor is littered with silverware napkins and other debris. The silverware was all spotty when I unwrapped it from my napkin. The bathroom was very messy with an empty soap container that appeared to be refilled with water so it sprayed all over my clothes and the paper towels were in a roll sitting on the shelf above the sink and the garbage can was overflowing with paper towels. Manager appears to be more interested in watching Sunday night football than managing the restaurant. The best thing about it so far is the waitress she's very attentive and friendly and helpful and concerned about our having a good dining experience. Love the food they just need to work on everything else.

Stopped in on a Friday night for a bite to eat. We sat at the bar and had some of the new summer menu items: brisket chili nachos - Very tasty as long as you're eating what is on top. Too much juice from the chili was included on this so the chips in the middle and on the bottom were soggy by the time we ate to that point. Less juice please. caprese salad - Oooh yummy, double yummy! The tomatoes were big and juicy and sweet, mozzarella was fresh, and the balsamic glaze wasn't too sweet. Loved this! smokin' brisket stack - This is really different but quite tasty. I loved added flavor from the corn cake. Nice!! The bartenders here are always very nice and attentive. Great little neighborhood spot for food and drinks that never disappoints.

Food is good, service is GREAT. After reading the other reviews it seems to me a lot of people are very critical. These must be the ones who've never served or worked in a restaurant. I only have 2 negatives: 1. NO NBA SPORTS PACKAGE, Don't get that!!! 2. They took away the 2 for 1 drinks during happy hour. The bartenders there are AWESOME!! They call most customers by name and to me that's impressive in this rushed, impersonal, bad customer service world we live in.

This was a surprising hit! We weren't sure where to go for dinner one night, and ended up here after driving over to the University Parkway area. I had the pulled pork bowl and hubs had ribs. We had a fantastic server, enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was tasty and very reasonably priced.

Good quick service once the waitress got to our table. She did apologize and it was pretty busy. The food was good, I had the pulled pork sandwich. It's a sports restaurant and the atmosphere was bumping on a Sunday afternoon. Hot towels were a nice touch after you were done with your meal. I would go again.

The food is good. The staff is friendly and reasonably fast considering how many people were there at the time. We ate at lunchtime so it was good and many were there on their lunch break, that was very apparent. Since this was the first time to visit it is hard to judge how the service acts over time, but this time the service was excellent. This is some good old southern cooking, nothing fancy but well prepared. In the future I plan on trying the Sunday Prime Rib special. This is a definite repeat!

Try the fried Green Tomatoes! I have had them many places and they are seriously the best here!!!! The other food is good too! I haven't had a thing on the menu that I disliked! The service at this location is super friendly.

I think the food is very good here. I never have anything bad. The food is always fresh, tasty, never dull. Very southern menu from my perspective. Very reliable food. The service is always good here too. Very fried menu, but some healthier choices too. Staff all incredibly friendly, even the manager.

Drinks are really good. Ashley was our server and she was great. If you are craving an all american meal then you can stop by but its not the greatest meal I've had. For appetizer we had the fried green tomatoes which was suggested to us. In reality all I tasted was the batter and the side aioli sauce, no taste to it at all. Then I order a clam chowder soup which was not bad. I ordered the smoked brisket plate which it was good, I was so stuffed that I couldn't even finish my plate. My boyfriend had the chicken and waffle, it had so many different sweet flavors that it was repugnant. I will come back for maybe a casual bite and some drinks to watch a game by the bar area.

It's a barbecue sports bar! A large menu selection; sports on the TVs; decent selection of draft beers. Our service was friendly and fast! We'll definitely stop here again.

We had planned to go to Bonefish but the place was packed, so we gave this place a try. We had the dinner for two which included samplings of pulled pork, meatloaf, spare ribs and chicken, as well as the baked beans and corn casserole. Everything was great except the chicken, it was a little dry and didn't have much flavor. Service was good, no complaints. The $1.99 draft beer special was nice as well!

Love this place. The absolute BEST wings in town. You can't go wrong with the beef brisket quesadilla and tried the Grouper sandwich blacked and was excellent. We go regularly and LOVE the food but the bar staff and owner make it even better!

Whenever my husband suggests we eat at Lee Roy Selmon's, I groan and complain. But then once I'm there, I remember the food is good, the beer specials are fabulous and the atmosphere is lively. This is a great spot to grab some food and drinks during football season, as there are TVs everywhere and there's a large bar area. There is usually a $2 draft special which I almost always partake in. Lee Roy Selmon's menu consists of many classic southern comfort foods such as fried green tomatoes, mama's meatloaf, pulled pork, chicken and waffles, etc. But, they also boast some fabulous salads if you are looking to stay on the healthy side. But oh man, I wish they would go back to their original cornbread croutons! Those were the best. They also serve complimentary rolls that are topped with a delicious BBQ butter sauce. They are heavenly, make sure to ask for them! I have ordered many things off the menu and have never been disappointed. You can't go wrong with the pulled pork, meatloaf, chicken and waffles, steak or any of the salads. The gumbo is also delicious, as are the baked beans. And don't forget to end your meal with an order of the bread pudding ;-)

This place is great for a chain. The best fried green tomatoes and pulled pork sliders! Thé meatloaf, country chicken, and bbq as our main course were also outstanding. Can't wait to go to the one in fort myers. Closer to home.

Thought this would be the soul food version of Applebee's, boy was I wrong. Seated quickly in a surprisingly mellow, yet packed restaurant on Father's Day of all days. All smiles from the hostess to the server. It's got a sports bar feel with a family friendly vibe and located in a great area close to all the shopping you could ask for. Party of five, attended to quickly and with a smile from one of the finest waitresses, our whole party had experienced in our entire lives, Missy. Give that gal a raise, she made us feel like we were part of the family! Delicious rolls while we waited. Waitress was filled with suggestions and did anything she could to accommodate. It seemed like they could have made us any conglomeration of food items we wanted from the menu. Food was cooked to order, home made recipes and incredibly fresh. Was brought a sampler of sides and almost cried when I had the best cheese grits I've ever had short of my stint of living in Alabama. Perfect consistency, savory and cheesy. They know how it's done. Baked beans, gumbo, all the good ole' down home flavors. This isn't an impostor soul food spot, it's the real deal. I had the chicken and waffles and everything was absolutely perfect. I could t believe that I was having a great experience on every level of criteria in this place. Wish o had came sooner! Waffle was a half of a Belgian waffle topped with a decadent cinnamon sugar butter. Chicken was lightly breaded and perfectly seasoned and crisp with a sweet heat flavor. Smashed potatoes and bacon corn hash, out of this world. Peach cobbler for dessert. Smack me silly and call me Sally...glad I gave this place a try, was pleasantly surprised. Wasn't what I expected at all and that's a good thing. Rarely, if ever is a place the whole package, and Lee Roy's is the whole dang thing.

This is the second location I've tried & this was worst than the 1st because the service was awful. Almost everyone who worked there with the exception of our service was uninterested in providing great service. We informed the hostess that it was freezing where she had sat us and her response was "Well it's probably cold everywhere but if you want to walk down there to see if it's warmer you can!". She didn't offer us a seat on the patio nor did she offer to turn the air down or speak with a manager. However, our server offered me black tea or hot cocoa. But because I was extremely cold I can't say that I enjoyed my food because I just wanted to leave. But about the food, I ordered the nacho burger w/fries. The nacho burger was good but my fries were overly salted. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Oddly enough, the hostess who gave us attitude about it being cold was very nice as we were leaving. Maybe someone else annoyed her right before he came & that's why she was snippy with us at that moment.

The chicken and waffles was the BEST I have ever had. If it wasn't such a calorie bomb I would eat it daily! Seriously could go on about it. The location is beautiful. It's the fancy version of a sports bar. And it was really clean. The outdoor seating is nice as well, but it unfortunately was raining. I also saw some great happy hour specials for the future. It was my first time in, but I may become a regular.

I got dragged to this place on a guy's night out event. Didn't see anything on the menu that really appealed to me, so I ordered a Caesar salad, gumbo combo with a pint of Stella Artois. The gumbo was the best that I've had in years and the salad was excellent. The amazing thing is that the bill with tax came to twelve dollars and change.

Portions are huge. Food was pretty good. I ordered pulled pork. It came with baked beans and corn casserole. Both side dishes were spicy, which I liked. The pulled pork was okay but the meal didn't come with toast or garlic bread which I thought was weird because I've never ordered pulled pork at a restaurant and not received bread to put the pulled pork on. When we first walked into the restaurant, no one greeted us - it was around 3pm. The girl behind the bar was flirting like crazy with three old men at the bar, working hard for that tip I guess. We didn't see any other workers in the restaurant for about 5 minutes. Finally the girl at the bar noticed us standing there and seated us. Our waitress was nice, but food was so/so. Nothing to write home to mom about. Before we left the waitress at the bar had went and kissed/hugged all three men at the bar telling them thank you and asked their names again, I guess so she could remember them next time they came in. If I were an old man looking for good flirts, I'd rate this restaurant a 5 star but all considered, I'll rate it a 3. Not a poor experience, but just so/so.

Had lunch here today and was very disappointed. The pulled pork wasn't very good. The noodles were overcooked in the mac and cheese and my Strawberry Mojito was one of the worst mojitos I ever had. Tasted like flat lime selzer water and muddled strawberries. I saw mint leaves but I couldn't taste them or the alcohol. Not to mention it was no where near sweet. It was a bad choice. My friend had the pulled pork and chicken nachos. When they came they looked so dry, as if they were sitting forever. The taste was... meh. Not something he would order again. The best thing about this meal was the sweet tea. That was some good tea. They have a nice covered outside seating area. I wouldn't go back to this location.

It's hard to say what my favorite is but it's probably the pulled pork or maybe the wings or is the brisket no I know it's the ribs!!!!

Let me start by saying I am not a huge BBQ person. No do however enjoy their southern dishes. The chicken and waffles is delish. The twisted chicken is most definitely my husband and my favorite choice. Ask for the BBQ buttered rolls, they are awesome but for whatever reason you have to ask for them now. If you go at the right times you can usually catch a good drink special.

Killer pork sandwich and the sides are to die for! Highly recommend the fried chicken and waffles and the cheese grits...wow! A great inexpensive staple is the pork sandwich and friend. Great spot for some great southern food! Highly recommend!

Wow! I loved this place! We were looking for a place that was playing the Patriots game and found this gem. Decor is gorgeous, service was fantastic, and the food is amazing. Ribs, chicken, meatloaf, southern favorites...so much to choose from. Fried green tomatoes, bacon cheese grits, corn casserole, BBQ butter, gumbo...yum, yum! The prices were great and they gave us some house favorites to taste test. You won't be sorry, you won't want to leave!

The food was mediocre at best, service was horrid. We saw the waitress maybe once. Ribs were burnt, sauce was overwhelming you weren't able to taste the food. There are better places in the area...

I gave this place 2 stars because it was empty on a Saturday night, but it still took forever to get serviced. My kids enjoyed the selections from the kids menu ( ribs and chicken tenders, respectively), and my hubby enjoyed the chicken and waffles. I ordered the steak and grilled shrimp, which was mediocre. I asked for well done, and after twice on the grill, still was pink in the middle (I'm pregnant so I needed it well done, otherwise I would've just eaten it). It wasn't worth the hype to me...

I've never been to one of the restaurants and now I know I probably never go back. Service was extremely slow although our waiter was very good. When our food finally arrived we only received two meals out of 4 and had to wait the last two to come. I had nachos with pulled pork and chicken. The meat was very flavorful but the nacho chips was so salty my lips started to burn . The best thing about the meal was when the manager took the two nacho platters off of our bill

I am a huge fan of Lee Roy Selmons. The service is almost always great and the food has never disappointed. If you check-in with foursquare you can start your meal out with a free order of fried green tomatoes which are great. For the main meal we have tried several dishes that we love. The prime time burger with sweet potato fries is a great meal. The southern twisted chicken is amazing. Great sweet taste in the corn topping. And my personal favorite is the back country nachos. I usually get this as main meal and make it the combination platter so it has chicken and pork on it. Definitely will continue to go back here.

Love southern food and love that they've incorporated it into their menu. Staff is super friendly and service is almost always prompt. The restaurant is dark woods, clean, loud (but like white noise) and full of flat panels throughout for sports viewing. You can bring your kids or a group without feeling like you're disturbing diners who expect a quiet meal. The food is pretty good; you just have to order the right thing. I should've known better not to order ahi tuna here - awful. Their wings are good though as well as their burgers, chicken, steak, corn bread. Delicious dinner rolls, but they're brushed with a bbq sauce glaze that kind of spoil them, but others seem to enjoy them. I don't recommend their ribs, but I'm also very particular about ribs. The meat isn't very tender, won't fall off the bone, and the bbq sauce is way too salty. Wish so many restaurants didn't over-salt their food! Oldest trick in the book for flavor and it doesn't work. Overall, a good place to come for comfort or bar food at a fair price.

Very good food and service, cold drinks. Great place to watch sports. My only complaint they never give you buns or they are not ready until you are almost finish with your meal. I did complain and the manager was great adjusted the bill and even provided us with free appetizer cards. My family loves this place. Great salads as well.

Food is consistently good. Love the nachos, salad, and bread pudding. If you're a fan of tomatoes, the fried green tomatoes are awesome. Pulled pork is the best. Smoked wings are unlike anything I've ever had. Tvs everywhere.

If I had a restaurant, I would want it to be like Lee Roy Selmons! I am not particularly a sports fan or even a fan of ribs/burgers, but there is something about LRS that keeps me coming back for more. It's a great place to bring the family, watch the game, be part of the action, and socalize with a $3.50 margarita. Unpretentious and delicious, is a win win in my book!

I had never been to an "upscale" BBQ place but this was definitely one. Nothing fancy, but was not the go-thru-the line and pick your sides place that I'm used to. It was just full service with servers and all like any other restaurant. Our server was nice. And the grilled chicken was delicious! My sister got chicken and waffles and licked her plate clean. My mom enjoyed her burger and my brother in law got a signature fried chicken dish which I forgot the name of, but came highly recommended by the server and lived up to the hype. Oh and the coleslaw was with mustard. Very different and good!

first few times I've been here were great. Lately not so much over last 6 months or so. I'm not sure what has changed staff wise or what but ... Especially the last two times the wings were good & so we're the drinks but - the steak was dry & took so long to chew the first bite had to spit it out. :( the new fish sandwich was less than good ( I'll forget abt the part where I ordered it fried & it was grilled ) since it would be healthier anyways. The ribs were dry & super chewy , unfortunately because my husband & I were very hungry when we decided to go there again after our unfortunately prior experience there. He finished his plate & I didn't mind since he was even hungrier than I & even offered some of his chicken & waffles to me. By the time I got my food to replace my inedible previous plate I had to take it to go. they have a good thing going there & I'm sad to say our last few experiences went this way. Manager came to us apologizing & said it was taken care of & wished they could " choose their cuts" ... Which I can understand. Maybe someone above him above her above him should fix that. If that's really even the problem at all. .

I made the mistake of looking at the menu on their website before dining at the actual restaurant. Many items on the website are not offered in the restaurant, so be warned. The website also states that there is a special menu and drink specials after 9pm, this is not true at this location. The barbecue dishes here are just decent, and kind of dry. It is also stated on their website that you are given a barbecue sauce sampler with your meal, but we ordered a massive sampler platter for two people and did not receive any sauce. It was tragic. I also ordered the Deviled Eggs, which never arrived, so we had it taken off of the bill. Thank goodness I was here with friends watching the UFC fights and having a good time. Otherwise, I would have been really pissed about the crappy service and lame food. I think it is better to go to Wing House to watch events.

Great place to watch sports! Big tv's everywhere !! The food and service was good. I had a sampler of appetizers- dry wings which were very moist and tasty. In fact the manager came to our table and told me they had to recook them because she thought they were overdone. Nice of her. Also had chips, salsa, quesadillas and fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were good even though I don't eat a lot of fried foods. Will def go back.

Being in the industry I hate to give reviews like this because it is really not fair to the kitchen, but it is also my experience this is the only way you learn. 20 Minutes to get a table in a half empty restaurant, then another 15-20 without anyone approaching us.so we walked. So this critique is solely on the front house and management, we obviously didn't get a chance to taste the food, but to be honest a LOT of people, had actually waited for a server would go into the meal pissed off and probably would have criticized it unfairly, which again is unfair to the guys in the kitchen especially if they are cranking out some good food. There are just TOO many restaurants in the world and you simply should not put up with that type of reception and service.

There isn't something here I've had that's bad. Must try the fried green tomatoes (trust me, they're good) Sweet potato fries, pulled pork and even their regular fries are my regulars. Everything is quite amazing and reasonably priced! Also: TAMPA TEA - DO IT (if you'e of age)

Lee Roy Selmon's, for me, has always been something of a contradiction. I've now been to two, the first was in the Fort Myers area, this location is the second. Selmon's is, at its core, "comfort food." Barbeque, cheesy grits, maybe more precisely southern-y comfort food. The contradiction for me comes about because the atmosphere and food presentation are more upscale-trendy-chain, as Selmon's sort of tries to make comfort food modern and hip. This motif and philosophy has varying degrees of success for me. Things that I would have thought would have been really great in theory just came out OK. The contradiction? Comfort food is supposed to be off the chain with its indulgent bad-for-you-ness, and Selmon's food loses that raw awesome in its translation into this kind of restaurant. I'm reminded of someone who once said you couldn't make good barbeque AND meet health codes. Selmon's clearly meets health codes. Overall, everything looks better than it tastes, which is not to say that it tastes BAD, just not as awesome as I hope for every time. The interior is top notch, trendy, clean, and the service is also usually great. If what you want is barbeque, off the top of my head try Nancy's downtown, which is pricey, but tasty. Truthfully, the best barbeque you find (as well as the worst) will come off a suspicious looking barrel grill with wheels on it which may or may not be in working condition. If you're looking for upscale, well, the Ritz is nice, but upscale places are fairly obvious. If you're looking for upscale AND barbeque, I suppose Selmon's fits the bill, just don't expect a transcendent culinary experience.

Really deserves 3.5 stars, but my wife LOVES this place so it moves to 4 stars. On a recent weekday afternoon, this chain that is named for a former Tampa Bay Buccaneer icon had a few penalties. Let's recap the game..... Led initially to a crummy table location, the efficient and gracious hostess offered us a comfortable half circle banquette "as soon as it's cleaned off". It took quite a few minutes to get it cleared...basically it took the hostess to do it. She cleared the table, wiped it down and got the place settings. She deserves credit as while she did the "bussing" duties every other warm body through the door wanted to lay claim to the roomy and comfortable booth. Five stars to the hostess staff, first down! Once seated, we were promptly greeted and a Brisket Sliders ($6.49) app was ordered along with drinks. Second down! The sliders were really very good and served on a soft roll and had a meaty goodness and a medium spiciness to them. They are served with a few, very few Onion Straws, actually there were so few they really shouldn't bother. We were on a relaxed lunch with a friend so we had no "back to the office" pressure, but the sliders really took longer than they should. Slice three small buns, ladle prepared beef from the holding pan and serve. Sorry, a 5 yard penalty. Maybe the scant Onion Straws were the hold-up? Food followed promptly and I was pleased with my Bar B Que sandwich where the meat includes crusty edges from the slow cooking (food is good here, but I'm never overwhelmed) and served with good (not great) fries and okay Cole slaw. My wife enjoyed her Chopped Salad ($8.99) and will eat the other half as soon as I finish this review. The salad included grilled Chicken, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese, bacon, tomatoes, carrots, peppers and a mustard vinaigrette dressing. They're gaining some yards and making progress. Our friend had the Sweet Heat Fried Chicken sandwich ($6.99) ordered with its Aioli dressing on the side. It was served covered in the dressing which was okay but as soon as the runner left he discovered that the bun it was served on was burned on both sides. Not well toasted, but burned. The prep guy (its okay to tell your girlfriend you're a chef) should have tossed it, but the expediter should have put a stop order on the thing. Ten yard penalty! Quick follow-up by our server and a new order was entered. A fresh looking (and delicious) Fried Chicken sandwich arrived delivered by a manager along with a brief and sincere apology. Fact is we all had a good time. The food was good and their prices are very fair. Their employees work hard and seemed to be efficient. On the day of our visit the restaurant was running at about 50 to 60% of lunchtime capacity and they seemed really understaffed. At a time with high unemployment and employees that survive on meager wages and tips and tip-outs, I kind of wonder why that happens. That's it for the "game" overview...the chief umpire is ready to enjoy her leftover half Chopped Salad. I'll just sip some Gatorade and search for leftovers. See how I followed that football theme throughout? Get it? Huh, Get it?

Grilled Chicken Wings, prepared naked with no breading or marinade... Grab Georgia, Oklahoma & Lee Roy's sauce on the side. Get a side of chunky Blue Cheese and some celery... These wings are made in heaven!!

Mediocre service, food came out wrong, it would be advantageous to write people's orders down. Manager gave some BS excuse of why they won't make you steak skewers anymore.. I'll take my $ to Texas Roadhouse.

We came during a busy Sweet 16 NCAA game, and the staff was clearly stressed. The hot pretzel appetizers were excellent, the smashed potatoes side dish was cold and pretty bad, the fried chicken sandwich was average, and the peach cobbler dessert was outstanding. Thus, a mixed bag.

The best part (besides the food) is that this is actually 2 restaurants in 1. The dining room is clean and comfortable for families and couples who want a quieter, more private dining experience. Then, there is the large, modern bar area with about a million TVs that play many different sporting events. There are also HUGE bar booths that can seat up to 8 people which is great if you are planning to watch a game with friends. The food is always great, we love the fried chicken and pulled pork!! They have everything from healthy salads up to a full rack of baby back ribs. The prices are very reasonable considering the interior and level of service. It feels like a much more expensive restaurant. Service is always great, especially at the bar. They also do UFC fight nights and Superbowl events that draw a huge crowd. Don't forget to ask your server for rolls!!!

Had a vry bad experience with this place tonight. It was half empty when we went in, and we got service quickly from a very pleasant server. I ordered a small steak from the menu because I am having a serious problem with salt in food and all the prepared things could be counted on to have plenty of salt in them. Our server agreed to inform the kitchen I needed the steak with no salt at all. My compnaion ordered a smoked brisket sandwich with no salt on the accompanying french fries and a cup of gumbo. The gumbo was delicious (I had a small taste) when my companion raved about it. When the meals came out, my friend's sandwich was sloppy and very much thrown together. His fries were salted. When I tasted my steak, it was salty and I sent it back. The kitchen manager came to our table and actually tried to argue with me about whether the steak had salt on it. She tried to excuse any salt on it because of a grill that was used to cook other orders. she was not thrilled when I told her the cook only needed to clean off his grill before cooking a special order. It took 15-20 minutes for my second steak to arrive, so my companion had finished his meal. At least the steak was they way I had ordered it this time. To be fair, the kitchen manager did comp my steak on our bill. Still, I did not appreciate her initial response and argument. We paid the check, tipped the server for the service as iff we had a full check, and left determined to avoid this place in future. Too bad, beacuse I remember many of their dishes being satisfying when I could be more free about "seasoning".

Nice place for all us snowbirds to roost for football games on Sundays. Pretty family-friendly in terms of screaming and swearing. Great HD TVs everywhere. Food is great, beer selection is a little weak -- buit don't worry, they've got every flavor of Budweiser... TIP: Pulled pork sandwich. Get it.

Gabriel and I enjoyed a fun dinner with another couple here last night. Although I'm not really a sports bar kind of person, this restaurant feels much classier and less sporty than I expected based on the reviews I'd read ahead of time. Yes, there are tons of TVs playing various games, but the feel is more upscale and less rowdy that I would have guessed. Luckily, our friends had a couple of great tips for us. The first was that if you check-in on four square, you get a free fried-green tomatoes appetizer. Cool! We jumped on that. The other VERY important tip is that the amazing bbq-butter-topped rolls, which do NOT come automatically, ARE free and available and absolutely worth asking for. YUM. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita to sip and it was delicious; refreshing, sweet- but not overly so, and the perfect amount of alcohol that didn't totally overpower the drink. The fried green tomatos were a bit slow to come out, but when they finally did we gobbled them right up. They came with a tangy ranch dressing to dip in, and the slices were thick cut and super crunchy. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp and grits- something I would not normally choose but it sounded interesting. I also ordered a side of green beans and thought it was odd that it did not automatically come with a vegetable when just about all of the other entrees did. The grits were unreal. Super cheesy and with generous bits of bacon, it was NOT at all a light dish. I still can't believe I ate the whole thing- it was so rich and filling, but tasted so amazing that I couldn't stop myself. The shrimp were a bit too sauce-covered, and I think they could have used half the amount instead of drowning them in sugary flavoring that they really didn't need. I thought my meal was excellent, but really felt that the menu was lacking. I would have ordered a healthier shrimp option if there had been one- but the choices were basically salads or super indulgent entrees and sandwiches. The meal ended with the waiter bringing over hot washcloths to wash our hands with...Nice touch! I thought the prices were totally reasonable and I would definitely consider going back...next time, I will plan to be more mentally prepared to indulge than I was this time.

Eh. It's okay. We went to meet friends in Sarasota for dinner and UFC on a Saturday night. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich. It came on a hoagie style roll which made it too messy. For pulled pork at a "bbq" style restaurant, they could have done better. The atmosphere and location were great, however and they had $1.99 select draft beers on special all day which was nice

I'm so glad they opened a Lee Roy's in Sarasota - the one on cortez was too far to drive to. The chicken wings here are probably the best I've ever had. They marinate them for 24 hrs and then grill them and slather them with a spicy bbq sauce. Delicious. Nachos are probably my 2nd favorite appetizer. The salsa they use is super yummy and the combo of salsa, cheese, queso, and their chips (with some meat - pork or chicken) is awesome. Get the half order bc the whole can feed like 10 people. Seriously. Fried green tomatoes are good, but I think my favorite thing about them is the garlic horseradish aioli they serve with it. Yum. The salad is good too - they chop it up and the bacon ranch dressing is awesome. I alternate my main course because there are so many good options. The sweet heat fried chicken is probably one of my top too - but get the sauce on the side (the 4 sauce option thing - the mustard-y one is the best) and sub potatoes for the cheesy grits. OMG the cheesy grits are ridiculously good. The sweet heat is a a crunchy breaded fried boneless skinless chicken breast. Yum. My other top 2 is the Twisted Southern chicken - Two grilled chicken breasts stacked smothered in maple bacon creamed corn, melted cheddar cheese, cool sour cream and freshly diced tomatoes. Again - I sub the potatoes for the grits. This is so yummy and something you can't get anywhere else for sure! If I'm not feeling like chicken I'll get the ribs or the pulled pork sandwich - both are very good.

I understand the attraction since Leeroys is one of the few sports bars in the area but the food and service is not good. The prices are way too high for fast food. Yes its a good place to catch a game but I've been here multiple times and you just cant get a waiter to pay attention to you. Less than average bar food not cooked well.

My favorite restaurant in the area. I have yet to have anything here that was bad. The prices are good for the food and portions are large. The steaks Selmon style, pulled pork, nachos, Caesar salad, smoked chicken... all are amazing! The peach cobbler is delicious too. They have fair drink specials too. Friendly family atmosphere. The only things I've had that I wouldn't order again are the coleslaw and the Mahi sandwich, both were a little bland. This is my number one place to go if I want to have a nice dinner but not spend a lot. My family of 3 eats for under 30.00!

This was a nice place for lunch. They had a good selection of beers on tap and a 2-for-1 drink special during the day. The menu had a good range of sandwiches and salads and food was good value for money.

My fiancé and I have been here before and were satisfied but certainly not blown away by anything, but we tried it with my family today and it was an astonishingly terrible experience all the way around! We sat for over 5 mins before even being greeted. It still took a long time just to get beverages after that. We ordered appetizers that showed up after dinner (which took about 40 mins). When the food finally did arrive no one had any utensils to eat with and no one came to check on us so we had to go ask for it. I think everyone at the table hated their food. It was all over cooked and cold. You could tell it sat in the kitchen for a while before it was served to us. I NEVER send my food back but I had a steak bowl that I ordered medium and it literally was so well done it was like beef jerky and the rest of the dinner was cold. Gross! So I just ordered a bowl of gumbo instead cause I didn't want to wait and it was absolutely awful! Too greasy, and I had to spit the vegetables out cause they were hard and stringy. We definitely won't be back.

Prices are too high for the quality of the food. My food also arrived cold. Service was not too good. They kept turning up the volume of the music which just added to the noisiness of the restaurant. I won't be going back.

The first time I went here I ordered their salad that was one of the specials, and the lettuce was all wilted and it was icky, so I started tossin back my boyfriend's bbq chicken quesadillas, and became completely addicted to them. At the end, the waitress saw I hated the salad (with help from the bf) and took it off the bill, replacing it with my very own quesadillas! Every time our waiters are pretty nice. They also bring you a hot towel that makes your hands all clean and perfect at the end. They know what we're thinking! Never did I think I'd even like 'BBQ' chicken quesadillas whatsoever, but they're so f'ing good!!! Quality white meat, bbq'ed perfectly, good ass cheese, and onions probably, with bbq sour cream (not just boring old regular!). Me and my bf don't care for sports much or sports bars, but we still like it. It's really casual and comfy. To be honest though, I just always want their quesadillas. I just moved to south fl, so I wish there was a location here... maybe I can try to make them at home.

Lee Roy Selmon's is one of our regular lunch stops. Here's why: Nice overall atmosphere with darker lighting rather than bright lights that make you feel your on stage. Good service, rarely does a drink go unfilled long, attentive service. Their signature bbq grilled chicken wings are excellent. You must order some for the table and try 'em. They have many tasty dishes on the menu like their burger, pork sanwich, side of cheese grits & my favorite, their steak wedge salad. They always cook my steak the way I order, medium rare. At the end of our meal we're served with nice hot damp wash cloths to cleanup with which I love. Only dish I'd stay away from is their meatloaf. Always a great experience here, enjoy, Brett B.
